Wish I could give half stars because this is more of a 2 1/2 star place. I came here with some friends for a work lunch. Typically, sit down places will have a lunch special or two that are cheaper than their traditional fare. I guess walking in and seeing the place empty was a sign that we weren't going to have a great experience. They have a lunch menu that is about a dollar cheaper than their dinner prices which start at about 12-13 bucks a plate. The food itself wasn't too bad. Typical Chinese/Japanese fare. We all ordered bento boxes to keep the cost under 15 dollars each. It came with a reasonable amount of food, but you may or may not get full on it (which is inexcusable for 12.99). The real downer here was the service. Our server kept trying to sell us on some giant sushi platter that was 60 bucks and didn't give us any suggestions on lunch options. He barely refilled our drinks, but kept stopping by our table after he'd given us the check. The booths provide a nice, private setting, but it is completely negated when you're talking business and keep having staff peer in to see if you've left yet. Overall, it wasn't a good experience, but it wasn't awful. Just don't expect great service and prepare to pay a lot for Chinese food that is probably just as good as any other decent Chinese place. Who knows, maybe their sushi is out of this world or something. I'm not going to venture in again to find out.

Got the crispy beef as it was highly suggested on yelp. It was not any thing special. I got it to go. When I got back home the inside of the bag was swimming in grease from oozing out of to go box. The beef is dry, and tastes like dirty oil.

I have been very pleased every time I come here. So delicious and large portions! The sushi is some of the best and well built. Tastes very delicious. This is definitely a monthly place I'll visit! Best customer service and fast!

Very expensive, and funny tasting white meat chicken. This place is at best ordinary Chinese, but since I have higher standards, I'll never go back. I know of one good Chinese restaurant in Utah, and it's in Summit County.

You know I gave them some good reviews before but recently I have gone in a few times and really can't stand the service. Yes the food is good but they nickel and dime you for everything! It's way too expensive for the kind of place it is. The last three times the waiter even asked for a big tip. That is very very off putting and rude! The first time I did and hoped that wasn't the norm the second time I did the normal percentage and the third the service was so bad and again he asked I was very put off so I didn't leave much but he actually followed me outside to my car telling me I needed to leave a bigger tip. Hmmm no I won't return EVER! Oh they actually asked me for an extra $3 for brown rice and tried telling me white rice wasn't gluten free! Oh and their sushi special what a joke $50 for two! What they were offering was a joke! Sorry you became far too greedy for us! Without delivering a well enough service.

I would give it a 4.5. Started with fried dumplings, and you know what? I couldn't tell if they were fresh or frozen. Which is actually a plus, cause any where else I would have identified that quick. These weren't identifiable, but we'll give the edge to freshly made because of that. They were good. As per reviews, the crispy beef was pretty good! Caramelized beef, but without sticking to your teeth. Because it's caramelized, it maintains its heat pretty well too, which I loved. Tasty. Sushi- read a lot of bad reviews here for sushi, but the wife wanted to order a roll anyway. She ordered the bellagio. Pleasant surprise, it was actually good!! Not sure about it being worth $16 though. Seafood combination, the wife loved it. I didn't get to try it but she told me it had the most perfectly cooked scallops she's ever had. Everything was great! Now...the cons? Price, this 2 person meal came out to be $55. I could ditch my wife and go eat a fancy restaurant with that! The server poured water in my wife's sprite as a refill. But at least he acknowledged and apologized when we pointed it out. We were the only ones there but the server bombarded us with our order like he was in a rush to get us out. The fortune cookies....each package had 2 in it and looked like they had been opened or tampered with. Pass on the weirdness.

Overpriced and under served. The crispy beef was just ok. The rice was status quo. It was overpriced. Service was excellent!

  • Rod S.

It's pretty marginal for 4 stars, but given the pitiful other options for Chinese or Japanese, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. They don't go too heavy on the sugar, but it's good old Americanized Chinese comfort food. I've not tried the sushi. I've done a little cooked Japanese, but I have no strong opinion of it. The facility is very nice. The service is satisfactory. The food good enough. That's a pretty good package.

I would have given 4 stars but i took out one because i think this place is expensive for dinner. Two of us had dinner specials - 48 dollars for two soups, one appetizer, 2 maki sushi and 2 sets of nigiri sushi (or 3 maki sushi). For the soup, we had sour and spicy, and miso soup. They were alright. Appetizer was Tempura Shrimp, which was alright too. The shrimps were pretty thin. For maki sushi, we had The Rendezvous, which we think was pretty ok. We think it was too little. We really liked the Caterpillar. These two maki sushi costs 13.99 and 14.99 each if we were to order them by themselves which we think is expensive for this eatery. The Salmon and Tuna nigiri sushi were pretty good for raw sushi. In short, we think 48 dollars for two is expensive and we did not even feel that full. The quality of the food was acceptable to good though. I would rather go to those sushi places in the valley with 50% off sushi dishes with pretty similar quality.

This place is a Chinese restaurant that sells sushi. I should have known better. Some of their sushi really isn't that bad but some if it is very mediocre. For me god sushi is a about subtle flavors and freshness, I didn't really get either here. But I ink I will go back and just order Chinese food.

They DELIVER in Draper! Food is fresh, hot and delishous! Great find for the locals.

Excellent flavors. My favorite is the walnut shrimp and crispy beef. Egg fou young is also great.

  • Trevor J.

I actually really really like this place! I had lived in the area most of my life, and had meant to try it since I had noticed it, though I didn't place it high on my list because the yelp reviews are just so so. but I recently moved back to UT after having been out of state for several years, I swung by this place to grab some takeout one night in a rush, and I couldn't have been happier with it! I want to point out that really I think they deserve more of a 4 star review, but I wanted to give them some love to try and boost their stats a bit :) The place is actually really nice inside for a strip mall joint, and even has these little romantic side rooms for even better atmosphere. The staff was all very nice, and it was extremely clean and well organized throughout all I could see. The prices are a tad high in comparison to other strip mall places, but they also LOAD you up with food. The entrées are very generous, plus they give you a salad and choice of white, brown, or fried rice. We got the crispy beef which was just delicious! The pon pon chicken, which was also quite good, and the chicken lomein, which was good but not awesome, the chicken though was quite tasty, the noodles were just a but more mushy than I like. The weakest link at this place (at least what we tried) was the ham fried rice. It's not bad, it's just not good, it's a bit flavorless and dry and lacking in any other ingredients like some onion or veggies to liven and flavor it up. All in all this may have jumped to the top of my favorite quick easy Chinese place. The food was good and didn't leave you with that heavy sort of sick feeling you often get from Chinese, the ingredients were all fresh and high quality, and the preparation and sauces were delicious. I would recommend this place, and hope more people jump on and review it, because I know lots of people love it, but they just haven't taken the time to give them a good review. I will say that I can't speak to the sushi aspect of the restaurant which appears to be where more of the negative reviews are coming from, but I'm sort of a sushi snob so I likely won't try it, I try to avoid sushi in land locked states in general. But I also don't like it when Chinese places throw sushi on the menu, I think they should stick to one nationality of cuisine, though I will say that all of the pictures of sushi they have up and on the menu do look quite good and seem to be well prepared.

We came here pretty often historically as we lived in Draper. The owner's wife was an Indonesian, so we used to come here and chit-chat using our first language. The food is good in general and they used good/fresh ingredients. We loved their crispy beef, walnut shrimp and their fried noodle... love it. The only issue is on the price whereby it is generally higher than other Chinese restaurant around, but their taste and service complemented it. I like to thank their head-server "Lili", who always took good care of us very well. Wish you all the best in your career, Lili !

Hands down the BEST Chinese food in the state!!!! I've seen the kitchen and it's as clean as they come. They make and chop the meats and veggies every morning. It's all freshly made and to die for. The kung pow chicken, the crispy beef, and the cashew chicken are my favs. Lunch is great as well as the take out for dinner. It will blow your mind. Just go and you won't regret it!!! Thanks anni for making incredible food

Not so happy. They don't listen to people. We called in and asked for a booth the lady said yes come on in and they would have one waiting. As we got here we were seated at a table I told the young kid that we called in for a booth and he had no idea what we were talking about, he asked around and they told us it would be a few more mins. Now it's been about 15 and still sitting here looking at the empty booth, still waiting. Food looks good and tastes good. Still no booth no one gives a shit. No tips for them. FINALLY got a booth. We have been in the booth for a while now and our empty glasses at the edge of the table 10 mins later and we just now got a refill. $32 later and still bullshit.

Tried this place randomly last night and I have to say, I loved it! Best sushi I have tried in the state of Utah in a LONG time. It was really fresh and the service was amazing. Our waiter recommend the $50 special that includes soup/salad & appetizer + any 3 roles and also recommend some rolls that were delicious. Hidden gem in draper and glad I live near by because this will be my new sushi spot! Looking forward to returning and trying different rolls & plates.

We went here for date night and found the sushi to be quite good. My husband ordered the stir fry and enjoyed it very much. The portions are small but quite good nonetheless.

  • Jason G.

Dinner menu is a little pricey. Food quality was average. Service is very prompt. We ordered the sesame chicken, which was good, and the walnut shrimp. Unfortunately the batter in the walnut shrimp was undercooked. Complained, after we had paid, no apology offered but they promised it would be better next time. Sushi is high quality, tastes ok, but is made sloppy. We came here because it was close and we wanted Chinese. Next time, we will probably go else where.

    (3)
  • Mike L.

Overpriced and not that good. The Sesame Chicken was overly breaded and tasteless. I had my order delivered and they were 15 minutes late. I'd rather eat Panda Express.

Watermoon is awesome. There Bento Box is a great deal and the staff is friendly. I usually get the pon pon chicken and their pot stickers are super tasty!

I had eel & tuna roll, it was okay. The rice was a little like paste in my roll. The misto soup was very good. The waiter was on top of refills & very friendly.

We love water moon! Never had a sushi roll we didn't like (and we've tried most of them), and their crispy beef is to die for- so delicious! Great staff too!

Such a good convenient place to get some good sushi. Every time I've been in, they seat you right away and the food has been consistently good. Keep up the great work. The 2 rolls for $20.99 is a great little special as well.

i haven't been here for a few years and decided to use their delivery services yesterday as i was too lazy to go out. their website was very easy to navigate and i was able to easily order my food. i did the chinese dinner special that came with rice, soup, salad, an appetizer, and two entrees for $26.99. delivery fee was $2 and with tax the total ended up being a little over $31. after i ordered i got a call within a few minutes to grab my credit card information. they confirmed my order and said it would be about 10-15 minutes. less than 15 minutes later the food arrived and we got ready to eat as we were both starving. the food was not good at all. i'll break all the items down: salad - yuck, yuck, yuck! the salad was not fresh and was soggy with water. i got the ginger dressing which was very bitter. we ended up throwing both salads away as i didn't want to risk getting sick from old lettuce. appetizer - we chose the cream cheese wontons. these were actually decent tasting, but was very soggy and you had to eat it fast before it fell apart. soup - the hot and sour soup was average. the best part was that it was piping hot. ham fried rice - so bland that i thought i was eating steamed rice. there was hardly any ham in it and even after adding soy sauce it still tasted gross. walnut shrimp - just please don't order this. the batter tasted very bland, was too soggy, and the sauce was disgusting. this is my favorite dish to order at any chinese restaurant and i refused to eat anymore after one bite. beef lo mein - it was super oily and was just so plain overall i would never eat here again. the food was not good and it was very disappointing. my stomach hurt afterwards and since this was the only thing i ate yesterday i'm pretty sure it's from the food here. the portion size was also an issue as we had ordered dinner entrees and they were smaller than lunch portions at any other chinese restaurant. given the price i expected more. i seriously wished i had eaten at in-n-out instead. the food would have been fresher, tastier, and a 1/3 of the price.

I was here with my family. The service was good but the food was mediocre. If you want some quick Asian food AND nearby, this place is okay, but not worth driving down here.

    (3)
  • Nicole L.

The food here has gone downhill, and the service remains at the same level of terrible. AVOID ordering via Yelp; I made that mistake and spent ten minutes convincing the employee that the fact that the order printout said PAID meant that I didn't have to pay again. The walnut shrimp is disappointing, as is the pork Thai basil. If you're looking for a simple bowl of miso, though, this is a good spot for that.

After hearing a lot of good thing about this place, we decided to try this place out, especially when they claim to serve legitimate Chinese-Japanese Fusion food. They have a nice contemporary Asian dining area, but the food seems to be on the contrary. First page on the menu, I noticed Martin Yan's face, which is already bad news for me, since he tends to promote the mediocre Americanized Chinese stuff. We ordered the Cantonese noodles, which our lying server claimed to be "Flat Noodles" like the authentic ones. When it came out, it was just generic lo mein. The taste was bland and required additional seasoning. For the Japanese side of the menu, a majority of rolls seem to use imitation crabmeat as the main meat. We ordered a few rolls without the crappy crabmeat, which are Rendezvous, Spicy Hamachi, Emperor, and Nagano. Some of the rolls have a drizzle of a black sour sauce that resemble teriyaki sauce, but tasting sour, and adding onto the spicy mayo sauce, it tasted very strange. Only the Hamachi tasted alright, but the other fishes tasted a bit old. I am not sure what to consider Water Moon, since they claim to serve fusion food, but all you get is confusion on their menu. Perhaps that is an example of jack-of-all-trades, master of none in Asian Fusion.

  • Neil Y.

First off its Asian fusion food people, not Chinese. Consistently fresh, hot, and flavorful. The menu is extensive and yet everything is good. A rarity in the restaraunt business. The sushi is too notch and not the farm raised crap. They serve a variety of alcohol, sake, beer, as well. Top it off with a phenomenal staff and you've got a great meal experience. They have some enclosed booths along one wall that make for a more intimate time. I highly recommend Water on the moon!

Way too expensive. Food is below average. They do not use fresh veggies. We had a vegetarian dish that had canned mushrooms in it. Gross. We will not be going back.

I love this little treasure. The orange chicken is my favorite. The restaurant is super clean. The employees are super sweet and always remember me and my family. They are not afraid to make suggestions. I love this about them.

Very friendly & and quick to help & serve.. The waiter offered to refill the diet Coke 3 times, even when the food was taken away. Extremely pleasant atmosphere w/ comfortable seats & private booths. There's a nice flat screen over the well maintained professional sushi bar. Chinese & Japanese (sushi) lunch special combos. Tried ordering orange chicken and was presented with another option which was delicious. Very good sweet & sour soup, didn't touch the side salad, fried dumplings ended up a little soggy due to the sauce. Definitely recommend coming here. I know I'll be back to try the sushi. Service & atmosphere 4.75 Food 3.75 Overall 4.26

No, it isn't authentic. Food snobs will hate it. And, there is better sushi in SLC. But, I enjoy going here. Pon Pon Chicken is good. Ginger beef, the tempura veggies and the tuna rolls all hit the spot, and it's not very expensive. It's great for lunch.

I really liked this little hole in the wall place. Ryan was a great server and the service was quick. The chou mein was great with veggies. The edemamie was a little under steamed and the California roll was a little too stuffed for my liking. Overall I enjoyed it! I will definitely be back next time I'm visiting.

My pregnant wife had a craving for Chinese today and we looked on yelp to find this restaurant. It was our first time there and we were offered a private booth by the hostess, which was very nice and intimate for us. The menu is quite extensive and it took us a while to decide on dishes. For the appetizer we had cream cheese wontons which were light, crisp and flavorful by themselves, but the side sauces of sweet n sour and hot mustard were great. The mustard is quite hot but great for those of us who enjoy it. My wife started with the chicken Lo Mein which was very flavorful and had great noodles. A side of ham fried rice came with the main dish which by itself was a bit bland, but a bit of soy sauce really picked it up. Her main dish was a Kung Pow mix with chicken, beef, and shrimp. It had great flavor and enough spice to be hot without being overwhelming. I ordered General Tso's bento box which came with pot stickers, ham fried rice and a side salad - a great lunch size meal. Again the rice needed some extra soy sauce to pickup the flavor. The pot stickers had very good flavor, but needed to be bit more crispy. Unfortunately, the side salad seemed to be out of a bag and I wish they would offer stir fried vegetables instead. The main chicken had a very good light, crispy coating with standard chicken pieces, but the sauce on it really came through with great flavor. The service was awesome and quick, very freindly. The food came out quickly and our waitress was very attentive. I'm glad they have take-out as I suspect that my wife will ask for it more in the coming months.

This place has an absolutely gigantic menu. It took twenty minutes to read through all the various options. They have a large selection of Asian themed dishes to choose from. Some of these include sushi, noodles, and bento boxes. The atmosphere was pretty quiet as there were not very many people in the restaurant at the time. This could be because it has been open for only a short time. They had a TV above the sushi bar which is nice. There was booths off to one side that had curtains you can close which would be nice if the restaurant ever gets crowded. Because the menu is so so large we took our time reading through all the options and we had some questions. This took a while as this was our first visit. The waiters were constantly coming up to us and asking us if we were ready to order. I don't think they understood what a mess the menu was to understand and grasp. The food was pretty good. A couple of the dishes were a little weak, overly light in protein and heavy on vegetables. The sushi rice wasn't the best. But considering the price it was good value. Overall we had a good experience and were satisfied with the food. I think I would have to go back again in order to raise it to four stars. For now it gets a solid three stars.

It's not too often I find myself desiring Asian food while in the Draper neighborhood. However, I went on a double date the other day to the Haunted Circus by the Strangling Bros. and we all found ourselves wanting sushi. Using our handy dandy Yelp apps, this came across as the closest/best option around. Win. For a Friday night, the place was occupied but not crowded, good sign for a nice dining environment. We chose to sit in one of the booths, which had a very intimate feel to it, and started to ponder over the vast array of food on their menu. If the menu had ads, I'd swear I was at Cheesecake Factory. My boyfriend and I ended up ordering jasmine tea, edamame, and 4 sushi rolls. We were kind of hungry. I was a little disappointed that for an Asian restaurant my tea was given to me as a tea bag with a teapot full of hot water. At least it was a decent tea, my only complaint was that the cup they gave me to drink my tea in was far too hot to hold, yet the tea's temperature was perfectly drinkable. The edamame came out very quickly, as did the rest of our rolls. The rolls all tasted fresh and tasty, however, they were poorly formed and fell apart quite easily. The service here was wonderful, however, and that is what bumps this place up from a 3.5 stars to a 4. Not to mention, they gave us a $10 off certificate the next time we came in!

Has quickly become our goto Chinese place when we want something quick and close to home. The prices are pretty comparable to other places around the area, but the take-out portions are larger. The walnut shrimp is quite good, as are most of the chicken dishes. I haven't tried the sushi as it seems a bit over priced, but the rest of the menu has been good no matter what we have ordered. When dining in the private booths are a nice tough, though the portion sizes appear to shrink which is unfortunate.

According to it's menu Water Moon offers fine Asian fusion dining and it has yet to disappoint. We've dined here a half dozen times and have been delighted with everything we've encountered. Last week it was Egg Foo Yung for me, yep, the most mundane menu item possible. I am always in search of the perfect Foo and I think I found it. Hard to describe this, it's huge, light and puffy with a mouthful of texture and flavor you won't believe - and the sauce? Too much good. My wife opted for the lemon chicken and once again she was delighted, a light crispy batter around delicate meat with a delicate killer lemon sauce. We like their Bento boxes for lunch also, at $7.50 they are a steal and the quality is right up there, providing many of the popular menu items. Oh yeah, opt for their Mango iced tea, you won't stop asking for re-fills, it's refreshing addicting! And now for their Sushi elements- or not. I won't pretend to know Sushi, or Sashimi or Maki Sushi...., like my daughter says I don't know Sushi from Shinola. I do know the guys standing behind the Sushi bar look like they know what's up. And the menu pictures sure look good. We do plan to take our Sushi loving daughters there for their take on it all so I'll update this afterward. Finally the service- simply put it's most enjoyable. It seems like everyone in the place wants you to enjoy your visit, they go out of their way to make sure you taste the iced tea, or have the latest coupon or your seating is comfortable. Nice.

I had been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile now since I live so close. I was so disappointed tonight! I ordered the salmon teriyaki dinner bento box with miso soup. The salmon had no flavor or sauce, the salad dressing was disgusting, and the gyoza didn't have much taste either. It came with a california roll which aren't my favorite anyway but I'm pregnant and don't want to risk any raw fish. My friend got a chicken teriyaki rice bowl which she said was very dry and nothing special. She kept pouring sauce on it to make it moist. We didn't like anything about this place and were not sure how it has been getting these 4 star reviews and awards. I will not be going back. What a waste of my money.

I have been to watermoon several times with my family, primarily for sushi. Their sushi menu is pretty extensive, but their prices are little high. The Nigari sushi prices are high compared to most places I have been to throughout the country. The service is usually pretty good, but once it was pretty slow. In conclusion, I would go here again as the food is good, but there are other sushi restaurants in the area that are a better value.

Well...looks like I will be breaking ground for reviewing SLC area restaurants... :) It looks like Water Moon has just opened. There are two menus: a Chinese focus and a sushi focus. I had the salmon sushi bento lunch box. It was quite delicious. My colleagues ordered more traditional Chinese items - which I think are more successful only if you are expecting "Chinese American", not "Chinese". Anyway, good service. Pretty decor.

One of those confused places with 150 items on the menu. Chinese or Japanese, sweet and sour chicken to spicy tuna roll. Even tempanyaki style items. Basically jack of all trades master of none, their sushi is probably the worst on the menu and in the valley. Won't be going back.

    (2)
  • Mysti M.

Had Water Moon takeout on a Thursday night. Didn't care for the egg drop soup and the ham fried rice was sub par, but the chicken terryaki was good as was the orange chicken and sesame chicken, although the menu indicated the orange chicken was supposed to be spicy...it wasn't...great orange flavor though. Service was friendly and the atmosphere inside the restaurant seemed pleasant.

Best sushi I've had so far in utah. So much more fresh then happy sumo. The Phoenix is very good as well as the crazy roll which is not listed on the menu.

  • Melissa K.

I liked the walnut shrimp (maybe they call theirs snowball shrimp). It was good but more 'mustard-y' than Sampan or PF Changs. The sushi is yummy. I feel bad that every time I shop at Harmons you can see that there's like nobody in there eating. The guy who makes the sushi is the nicest guy ever! They should do an enticing coupon (like not something dumb like 10% off) in Valpak or money mailer or something so that people try the food and then are repeat customers.

Watermoon breaks the first rule of sushi restaurants - don't mix Chinese food and sushi. And it just goes downhill from there. If you order a 12 ounce bottle of beer don't expect to get the full 12 ounces as they serve it in a 33 centiliter glass which is an equivalent to a little over 11 ounces. I watched the waiter fill the glass and was somewhat stunned when I saw him walk away with beer still in the bottle. The wait staff was not very helpful, considering there were multitude of them standing around doing nothing when we needed assistance. Our server, who seemed a bit disgruntled when I asked what was in the "special house sauce", graced us with his bad breath. When the table next to us was being bussed, they spilled water on one of the guests at my table and didn't even acknowledge it. I ordered three different rolls, two of which were pretty good, but the third had way too much mayo on it. We had to ask for enough plates for everyone when it was very clear that there weren't enough from the get go. On the plus side, the fish was fresh and the restroom was comfortably clean. Other than that, but much to rave about. Oh, there's a sign by the entrance claiming Watermoon was rated one of the top 100 Asian restaurants. I think not. Update - got a mild case of food poisoning from this restaurant.

FANTASTIC staff, but it doesn't make up for the lackluster food. Unfortunately, everything was so sweet. I didn't try any of the sushi, I can only speak to the americanized Chinese food. It was hot and seemed fresh, but the food was unbearably syrupy.
