Ya No! I don't don't think so, This place has a nice atmosphere and very nice staff for sure, BUT not very good sushi! The taste was barely there and all the rolls where very similar in taste, they also where loaded with rice and that made the flavor even worse because it felt like I was just getting a mouth full of rice that crumbled easily because the rolls where not rolled very tightly. I can say I will never return here since I think the average person can eat a lot of rolls for an all you can eat place and I could barely finish my 3 rolls because of the amount of rice.

This location is significantly better than the one off State Street in Orem, I'll say that right off the bat. We generally avoid raw fish at Sushi Ya (it's not particularly fresh nor of good quality, resulting in the dishonest flavors imaginable), but the tempura veggie roll, tornado, cali, and upside down shrimp are all pretty tasty. I was particularly impressed with how crisp the tempura veggies were inside the roll, and the upside down shrimp had a nice kick to it with the addition of a creamy sriracha sauce. Price wise, Sushi Ya is really cheap (again, why we don't ever order raw fish sushi from them). The all you can eat lunch is only $14.95/person, and the individual rolls average about $5-$6 apiece. This location is extremely clean, which was also a huge bonus for me.

Fried sushi is delicious. Stay away from anything raw. The salmon was just horrible. Too old.

Sushi YUK. So if you want all you can eat crappy sushi, this is your place. We ordered several rolls. Anything that is cooked, the coating was so think that you didnt taste the fish but the coating. It was not good at all. We ordered several pieces of Nigiri ( salmon, scallops, etc) all tasted like frozen and thawed sushi. Again no flavor. Service was slow and not good at all. If you want good sushi, Takashi is EXCELLENT downtown and if you dont want to spend that much then there is Sakana in Jordan Landing. This is prob the worst sushi I've ever had. YUK!

When I heard a "Sushi Ya" opened up in Draper (not to be confused with "Sushi Yah"), I was a bit excited about it, since I had good experience with the one in Clearfield. The sign looked about the same from the outside, except it was green instead of red. The interior was decent in size. Place was quite emptied though, and it may just be a new location problem. To keep things fair, I only compared them with other AYCE Sushi joints in state. Nigiri was total disaster, the rice ratio compared with the fish was like 10 to 1, and the fish quality was just mediocre. Nigiri was out the picture after round 1. We had better luck with rolls, and it was not much. I am usually not a fan of veggie rolls, but their Veggie Tempura roll was favorable. Their spicy rolls were barely noticeable at all, other could not taste them as well. A lot the common rolls had shortcoming such as their Rainbow Rolls, which was should have had fishes piling on top, instead they placed three types of fish in the center to skim out on the imitation crabs. Sunset roll had a giant piece of imitation crab in it, best to avoid unless you love those thing. For hand rolls, I felt like they permanently scarred me with an overdosage of rice. They definitely surpassed the worst I had at other AYCE sushi joints. From the looks of it, it had a bundle of fish in them, but once you chewed past the surface, it was nothing but rice wrapped in seaweed at the bottom half. I found out as we were checking out, that this Sushi Ya is just own by the same one in Orem, not related to the ones up north. I came with high hope and left with disappointment. I doubt the place will last until they change those corner cutting cheapskate practices.

First off all I want to start this review off letting everyone know I am not usually one to give a one star based off a single part of the experience. When I walked into Sushi Ya, south Jordan I had high expectations because I absolutely love Sushi Ya, Orem. The place was extremely empty, which I liked because it means service will be good! I love all Sushi, even cheap gas station sushi. After taking the first bite I questioned the night. Something was off but I told myself it's in my head. 3 pieces in I become nauseous and ended up having to leave. Overall the staff was nice but I will not be returning due to the fact I spent the rest of my date night sick and was unable to enjoy my night with my wife.

I love this place. Clean and nice, even upscale dining area. Friendly, informative waitress was willing to make any type of roll I was looking for, not just what was on the menu. The time of day probably a plus being there at 11:20. I sure wish we had one in Idaho Falls. The soup and salad was a nice extra with the lunch ayce. I got the raw tuna roll and the tuna was very fresh and buttery. Seriously, the only problem was I ate too much. What was nice was I was worried I was too glutinous and the waitress was encouraging me to get another roll. I ate at the one in Logan and they have both been great.

The food is actually really good but unless you sit at the bar, you have to wait way too long for them to make it. The one in orem is far better.

So the range of the sushi here is 2.5- 3 stars. It's true that you cant expect exceptional sushi when you go to most ayce places and sushi ya fits that stereo type. Why the 2.5 and not the complete 3 stars? Like I said before, the sushi is all around mediocre. My biggest gripe about this place is their rice. If you like nigiri, don't get it here. Their rice to fish ratio is about 2:1. They really use the rice as a filler here. As far as the rice itself, it wasn't that great either. The rice was on the more dryer side. The most surprising sushi roll was the veggie tempura roll. For being a veggie roll without any fish, it was actually pretty good. I think possibly the most disappointing roll was the sunset roll. Don't expect real crab in here cause it will be the imitation crab. As for Godzilla, don't expect a big Godzilla size roll, but this is another good tasting roll. Another one that was good was the futamaki, this roll makes me think of the Korean kimbap. This roll actually has tamago (egg) in it which you don't find in a lot of rolls which was a nice addition. As for the rainbow roll, don't expect your typical rainbow roll with the slices of fish on top. Instead, they put the fish in the center so that you get a little bit of each type which is a nice difference. If you like cream cheese, crunchiness and a warm roll, I would recommend the spicy crunch. As for the mountain roll that is suppose to have spicy crab in it, it was nice spicy. As for the mama roll and volcano roll, I can't say much about these two since by the time they came out, I was already full. Would I come back? As of now, no. I would wait to see if there are any changes with their rice. I think you would be happier at Simply Sushi in West Jordan.

Like other reviews, the raw fish tastes terrible! It's old and rubbery. The nigiri wasn't any good either. I have eaten at other all you can eat sushi places with good results. This is definitely the worst sushi I've eaten. Save yourselves the money!

First and foremost, this is an All-You-Can-Eat sushi joint. It is unfair and incorrect to compare this type of place to a more traditional, high-end sushi restaurant. Never have I found a sushi "buffet" that is as good as one of those places, but the cost is miles apart as well. In sort, if you want top quality sushi, spend more and go somewhere fancy. If you want to have good sushi and try lots of different things, then Sushi Ya is a great place to go. I really enjoyed the Orange Julius roll, and despite the name, it has nothing to do with oranges, aside from the color. Delicious, flavorful roll though. The reason I give four stars instead of five, (keep in mind, the rating is relative to the kind of place it's intending to be) is because the service was really quite slow, at least on the day that I went.

We had to seat ourselves after not being acknowledged at a 1/4 full restaurant with 3 sushi chefs and two waitresses. We then sat down and the waitresses felt it was more important to fill other tables water and not give us a menu or giving us water. I have been there before, and the sushi was okay but the service was very slow on both occasions.

For an AYCE sushi place, this was pretty damn good! The only lacking thing was the service. We only had an issue with getting the server over to pay the bill, and a little slow on getting the second order picked up. Overall, the food quality was pretty good, service was fair.

Honestly, I had high hopes for this establishment. The sushi was decent, but the fact that it took over an hour to get our food, pretty much killed any chance that I will return. If you're looking for all you can eat, stick with Simply Sushi.

Solid sushi for the price. The nigiri was excellent! The Arizona hand roll was so delicious I'm coming back for it hands down! Seared tuna was fantastic also! Service was excellent, and we had our food in about 10 minutes which was awesome. Do yourself a favor, stop in and experiment with the menu, at the price you can afford it! The only thing that makes this review 4 instead of 5 starts is that they were lacking in diversity, I really like spicy rolls and they didn't have many to choose from. Other than that I'm smitten with this place, way better than the other sushi ya locations.

The following review was written for Orem, but applies to Draper as well: I've had sushi all over the Salt Lake and Utah valleys--from stuff that tasted like canned cat food mixed with wet toilet paper, to fish so good that it must have been blessed by Poseidon himself--and I'd developed a firm belief that good AYCE sushi just didn't exist. A belief I held proudly, that is, until my friend convinced me to try this place in 2010. I reluctantly broke bread with him here (but not real bread--it's a sushi place, you know) and on that fateful day, history was made. We've eaten here probably 20 times since. The three things this restaurant does best are value, flavor, and consistency. VALUE: My pal and I will work up a good case of the hungries by raking leaves or navigating the raging Provo River, and then we'll head on over to the Sushi Ya. Each of us will get 4-5 rolls from the AYCE dinner menu (usually the Playboy, Mama, Rocky Mountain, Spicy Crunch, and perhaps one wildcard) and the dozen mussels. That's a large and delicious meal for about $25 dollars per person after tax and tip. FLAVOR: Go eat those rolls and mussels and tell me that's not one of the tastiest meals you've had this year. And I'm saying this in November; that means you've got almost 11 whole months of meals to compare with this one! I'm not worried. I know what I said. CONSISTENCY: What surprised me about this AYCE sushi, beyond its value and taste, was its consistency. The rolls and mussels look and taste exactly the same (if not a little better) every time we go in. Every. Single. Time. And on top of that, I've been to their new Draper location twice this year, and was shocked to find that the food there is a carbon copy of the original Orem location. How do they do it? Must be magic. Good luck explaining this one, Neil DeGrasse Tyson. Now is the time in my review where I will mention what I'd like to see change or improve at the Sushi Ya. 1. This first one is easy--be open on Sundays. I'd probably feast at the Draper location every other Sunday, were it open. But I understand that business would probably be too light to make it a profitable day. Still, a man can dream. 2. The only real con that I feel when I eat at these stores is that they suffer a little bit from what I like to call "Cafe Rio Syndrome." I just made that up, right now, and you can use it if you want, but remember who came up with it. Me, that's who. By "Cafe Rio Syndrome," I mean that the food is delicious, but the best rolls on the AYCE are basically the same 5 or 6 ingredients, just arranged in different ways. It would be nice to have more variety there. I am now realizing that Jim Gaffigan said something similar about Mexican food in general--the same 5 things just put together different ways. Does that make my invention of the term "Cafe Rio Syndrome" less awesome? No it does not. But let's get back to reviewing the Sushi Ya. Seriously, do yourself a favor and try out the dinner AYCE--it's excellent all around. I've always been treated well here, and am always happy when I walk into and out of the restaurant. I hope they continue to perform awesomely, and that they're around for a very long time. tl;dr Sushi Ya rocks the casbah

Wasn't sure if I wanted to hit a all you can eat sushi place because they normally suck. My friend reminded me of this place and this place rocks. Very fresh and good! A+++

I would give this place ZERO stars! I've never been to a place with "buffet" rules. Lunch $15.00 dinner $20 per person. 1. No sharing 2. No wasting food or you will be charged. 3. Limit 3 rolls per customer. I ordered the volcano, shrimp tempura, crispy California tempura roll on my first round( 3 rolls). The tempura roll was deep fried and GREASY with a lot of rice and a tiny bit of avocado, imitation crab, etc. I was literally picking off the rice! The volcano roll was OK. I ate about almost 2 hand rolls and left most of the rice on my plate. I am ready to order more. Well, our waitress informed me I was WASTING food and I NEED to FINISH BEFORE ORDERING my 2nd order. EXCUSE ME?! I brushed it off and started to pick apart my greasy ass sushi... Finally, she brought me my 2nd order, 2pcs salmon nigiri and 8pcs of cucumber rolls. The salmon was fishy as hell. Again, A LOT of RICE on the cucumber rolls! I didn't want to get charged for " WASTING" so I ate what I could.... Lots of rice left over... Finally, we asked for our ticket. Waitress said, " next time, you will be charged for wasting food!" This lady was treating me like a child... I am 30 years old and let's keep in mind who is the paying customer. If I want to waste food it's my decision. Not yours to charge me! All the quality ingredients in the sushi sucked! All rolls were loose packed! Too much rice. (I even like rice!) salmon was not fresh. Vegetables were stale. I was so PISSED off on how I was treated, I will never return or recommend anyone to this place! Save your money and go else where.

The rolls were amazing. You get a ridiculous amount of sushi for the all you can eat price. The service was phenomenal and everyone was very friendly. The atmosphere was perfect for sushi. If you can't finish they will charge you for what you ordered so if you don't have a big appetite it may not be the best value. I loved it. Great value and amazing food.
(5)Andi B.
Sushi Nah. Rice was very sticky, too much rice accompanied many rolls and the nigiri. Very strict rules, but the service was good, we were the only two in the restaurant.

We love going to all you can eat sushi places. Is this top of the line sushi? No! But, it is relatively good sushi for an all you can eat place? Yes! You order three roles or hand rolls at a time. Several reviewers indicated that the Tempura Veggie Roll was really good. Those reviewers were right. The Tempura Veggie was excellent. I ordered it twice and had different veggies for each one. We also really liked the Tempura Shrimp, Happy, and Summer rolls. Both of use were disappointed with the hand rolls and thought both were heavy on the rice. When we come back, we will skip the hand rolls. But, overall, for an all you can eat place, this is where we will be heading.

We are sushi snobs and we LOVE this place! We used to drive all the way to Orem to eat here. We are so excited now that there's one just minutes away from our house. We will become regulars.

Had a great time at Sushi-ya. They have an interesting way of doing the all-you-can-eat sushi. they keep track of your individual order and they provide specific guidelines so you don't feel bad about what you're ordering. The lunch sushi is pretty good. I haven't had one that I don't like. The fish seems to be fresh every time we go in. On the other hand, I haven't had anything that completely blows me out of the water either. All in all, very clean, good lunch time atmosphere and good sushi for an all-you-can-eat.
