I was very disappointed here because i have been to a few other Ho Ho gourmet restaurants in UT which im now figuring must not have any relation to each other, and this one was just not good on any front. on that note does anyone know what the relation between that various Ho Ho' are? Just a bunch or places that all wanted the same name and weren't smart enough to see that having the same name of a crapy place could hurt you? Anyway now to the actual review: the service was poor, and just seemed like a few random guys walking around annoyed that people would dare come in on a rainy Friday night, no uniforms, no aprons, just casual name brand t-shirts and shorts, one guy was even wearing a ball cap. They seemed to have a steady stream of takeout, which may be due to the fact that it was a very rainy night, and also that they offer a takeout discount (seems strange to reward people for not coming to your restaurant) The food was mediocre at best, and the egg drop soup we had was thick and clumpy, almost inedible. The fried rice was not good, but the orange chicken we got was fairly decent, and the only thing we got that was somewhat enjoyable to eat. On the other hand we ordered the "Mongolian beef" I put it that way because it was nothing like any Mongolian beef I have ever had, the taste was off, almost more like a Peking beef or something, I have never seen in all my days a Chinese restaurant that couldn't at least get Mongolian beef right, you literally just fry up some beef sauce and onions together, but this one really was not good, we had a couple bites each and threw it out cause not only was in not Mongolian beef "flavored" but it tasted terrible. The dining area was fairly dated other than the granite slabs that they had apparently ju7st laid on top of their old squeaky tables (just replace the things if they are getting old, style isn't the only thing that goes out), and there are few things that turn me off more than a dirty menu, its not that hard to clean the things guys! Overall it the restaurant was dirty and dingy, and we both felt sick for the rest of the night and next morning after eating here. I was excited when i moved to the area to see that there was a Ho Ho nearby, but i am now saddened as this place is no good, and i will not be returning again, especially with a nationally renowned place like The Mandarin just a few minutes away. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and i will not go here again.

It's really all about the value here. I came by to order takeout and walked away with a mahooosive stockpile of Chinese food for cheap. It's perhaps not the most fancy stuff around. There are a few interesting items, but for the most part you'll find the Chinese food you expect to. But I did get a nice chicken curry (chicken in bright yellow curry with onions) and a shrimp fried rice. The egg drop soup came in a generous portion for around a buck and a half, and those two entrees with the soup was more than me and my dining companion could put away. I dunno how the in-house service is, but it did feel like the fella running place thought he was doing us a favor. Call it efficient, maybe? Not too warm and friendly, but when the food was ready so fast (early on a Monday dinner) and your transaction is complete, perhaps his bedside manner isn't as important.

In the years that I have been coming here I have always been greeted warmly and welcomed. One seated, our order is taken promptly, the food is expertly prepared, the flavors are delectable and tantalizing to the taste buds. If you want Chinese then there is no other place to eat!

The food was OK but the restaurant itself is so dirty I can't give it more than one star. It's amazing this place hasn't been shut down by the health inspector. The restrooms were worse than any gas station bathroom I've ever been in. The service was not very friendly either.

This establishment has been here years. Unfortunately, the food is terrible. Everything we ordered was pretty much tasteless & seemed like it had been sitting around for awhile. The portions were good sized, but who cares if it's not good enough to eat. My hope is that one day someone who really cares about serving amazing food will take over. Bountiful is always in great need of good restaurants.

Decent Chinese food at a decent price. Dined in, place is a little drab with wall paper out of the 80s. General Tsos chicken wasn't very spicy and the cashew chicken was as good as any I'd had. They put peas on everything. It was even in the soup and atop both dishes. Rice was cooked perfectly. If you take out apparently you can get 10 percent off.

The hoho gourmet has always had me leaving with a full tummy and a new memory. I've been going to the hoho gourmet for several years whenever I happen to be in the area. Which unfortunately isn't often but sometimes that makes it even more special. I can say it's a great place for anyone to go to enjoy good food and good company. The staff is friendly but quiet. Which can be nice because they don't bother the quality time you're having but they're good at quietly sneaking up to refill water and ask if you need anything else. The restaurant has a classy look I think but could probably use some new wallpaper and tile. However the booths tables and chairs are all in good condition. Place appears to be nearly organized and clean. Well it was until my kid messed it up. Always a good experience a lot of food for a small price. Egg drop soup is to die for!

Stumbled in to this restaurant accidentally during a gas exit on the freeway. Lucky us. The food was good and the portion size plentiful. And for the price they charge, we almost felt like we were stealing.

Don't waste your money. I called in a take out order and they said 20 min. Well I showed up 20 min later and it wasn't ready. 20 min equates to 50 min for 4 entrees. Then I get it home and it's barely warm. I'm given these guy too many chances for average Chinese food.

Been here twice while on business in the area. Good food and service both times. Seems to do a lot more carry out orders than diners since they offer a 10% discount on carry out. I loved their egg drop soup. Very tasty although it could have been a little warmer. I have had their Kung Pao Shrimp both times. Very good and a lot of shrimp for the price of this dish. Just the right amount of spicy heat for me. Nice clean restaurant, good service, very good food and great prices. I would recommend and will be stopping in again whenever in the area.

First time after driving by hundreds of times. Great service and even better food. Hot and sour soup the best I have had in a long time. Twiced cooked pork delicious! My only complaint would be the tea - with every pour ta leaves!

Good VALUE for standard Chinese food First, you get a lot of food for the price, and there is 10% for takeout orders. Would probably otherwise rate it 3 stars for quality compared with more expensive places. Cream cheese wontons were cooked perfectly, all of them. I hate when some placed burn them. These were evenly cooked. (5/5) Pot stickers were STUFFED full. Every other place I've had potstickers they didn't have much filling. These were packed full. (5/5) Egg rolls were better than average. I've never come across great egg rolls but many other places have screwed them up. These were pretty good. (4/5) Egg foo young was ok but I've usually had better at other places. (3/5) Ham fried rice was ok but not memorable. (3/5) Sweet & sour pork was pretty good. (4/5) General tso chicken was the least favorite of everything we got. (2.5/5) Was pretty impressed with the potstickers and cream cheese wontons, then it was somewhat downhill from there. Was very impressed with the price compared with other Chinese options in the area. If you're looking for standard Chinese where quality is above average and prices are below average then this is a good option. It's a good value. Had we not gotten the general tso chicken and egg foo young, and had the fried rice been softer and more moist then it would get 5 stars. Chinese food isn't the cheapest option to begin with, but this is one of the better values in northern Davis country if you want more food for less.

I absolutely love this place. I've always had great service and great food. This place is definitely worth giving a try if you want delicious and fresh Chinese food. They also give a discount if you choose take out!

Fantastic food for very low prices. My favorites are the chicken fried rice and the chicken lo mein (perfect sized noodles for me). And takeout orders are discounted. This is where I usually go for my Chinese fix.

Meh. The only way this place differentiated itself from the average Chinese restaurant along the Wasatch Front is that it had duck on the menu -- and the barbecue duck was pretty good -- but the sauces that came with the rest of the dishes I ordered were disappointingly bland and left me wanting. I agree with all of the reviews about the ratio between portion size and price, but for what this place is rated (4.5 stars currently) I would have expected significantly better food than other similar places in the area, irrespective of price. It didn't deliver on that promise. If I lived in Bountiful I would probably eat here from time to time, but it's not worth going out of my way for.

I was debating between 4 and 5 star... Seems like an almost 1 man show... Which is fine. I always get their moo shu chicken or beef. Whatever that sauce is... Is the bessstttt. Not a lot of people eat in the restaurant (it seems...)

Great good and great service and very reasonable prices. There are a lot of Chinese food places in the area, this is the best value. We go here often and have a lot of family functions here. I really like the chicken lo mein. The hot and sour soup is great too. For take out they give you a10% discount. An even better value.

We had dinner at this nearly empty restaurant last night. We almost didn't go in when we saw how empty the parking lot was at 6:30 pm. Anyway, the food was fairly good and the prices were okay too. The thing we didn't like was how dirty everything was. The windows were dirty inside and out and it looked like they had not been cleaned in months. My water glass actually had a dried on chunk of food on it as well as dirty spots. The bottle of soy sauce on the table looked gross. It was grimy inside and outside. The salt shaker had grains of rice in it to keep the moisture down but they looked yellow and like they had been there for years. We will not be returning to this restaurant. There is a much nicer Chinese restaurant in the same strip mall as this one.

For the food they get 4 stars, but the portions are so huge and cost next to nothing. I am in utter disbelief when I get the bill. Things to order: BBQ Duck Pork with crepes Crab wontons Egg drop soup (I've seen them sucking corn so I think it's pretty fresh)

Used to be one of the best chinese restaurants in Bountiful. We hadn't been there for a couple of years and the last time I went it was absolutely terrible. We went around lunch time and we were the only people there. The service was the worst I've ever had. The food was okay, definitely not what it used to be. If you are in the mood for chinese, I suggest you go anywhere but here.

Don't be scared off by the empty seats - Ho Ho is known for its take-out. It may be a little depressing to see so many empty tables when the food is so good, but you get reminded how busy they can get when you hear the telephone ringing in for orders while you eat. Their Hot & Sour soup is the best I have ever had and the portions are larger than you can usually eat. Definitely share the entrees with someone else - and try out their Strawberry Chicken the next time you order (it isn't on the menu, but is delicious!).

The food is great .. My only complaint is they gave us fried rice instead of steamed... The take-out service was quick and easy... Will be going back for sure!

I love Chinese food done in an American style. Yes- even the syrupy sauces each of which still retained its' unique character. The take out was hot, not too salty and the fried ckn and pork balls were of good quality meat NO chunks s of gristle or anything else nasty. Fried rice had lots of ham, egg and the texture was perfect- not too sticky or dry. The shrimp in the noodle dish was not overcooked and cleaned well and it tasted fresh. Nothing seemed greasy. This food satisfied our need for hot comfort Chinese type food. Service was friendly on the phone and in person. Thank you- HoHo....

giving this a 4 since I don't think this area has a big demand for good quality Chinese restaurants. the Singapore noodles were good and the seafood crispy noodles. I'd come back if I was in the area again.

They have real Lo Mein noodles. That says it all. The food is great and the price makes it one of the best values in the area.

Perhaps my favorite Chinese restaurant in Bountiful, I've been eating here since they opened. The service is fast, friendly and always accurate. My family and I were regulars here for years and the emplyees always remembered just what to bring out for us. Even after a long absence, the owners remembered us and asked us about things we had told them years before. Don't miss this place!

Great food! It's not nearly as well known as Bountiful's other long-time Chinese restaurant (the Mandarin), but the prices are a lot cheaper and you don't need to wait in line for a table. Service is excellent and the cuisine is typical Chinese fare.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
