There are not many choices in this area but we certainly enjoyed our dinner here tonight. We had a hamburger and the veggie sandwich in fry bread. Absolutely have the hot biscuits with the homemade jam. These were brought to our table before the meal. The service was prompt and friendly. The food came out quickly even though it was a Saturday night and the restaurant was busy.

Considering that the only other places to eat in Blandings tonight are A&W and Subway, this is a very decent choice (and very busy too). We had a Navajo Taco and a vegetarian sandwich on fry bread. The flavors were good, the portions ample, and prices reasonable. It's billed as a steak house but they have a wide variety of choices. Service was prompt and pleasant. Four stars would be pushing it, although maybe not for this little burg.

Full disclosure: This is my mother-in-law's restaurant. That being said, I wouldn't slam it, but if I had an issue with it, I also wouldn't dare review it (I know how to keep peace in the family). We live in Seattle and were down visiting for the weekend. It was the first time we had seen their new addition and it's a beautiful and flexible space that I think will be a benefit to the community. She can shut the doors and offer private dining space for family or community groups. The salad bar is fresh and tasty. Her krab and pasta salad is made right in the restaurant (I asked because it didn't taste like the stuff you usually get from a salad bar) using their house-made ranch dressing. And, she knows her way around a Navajo Taco! The beans are made in-house and the fry bread is light and fluffy and easy to cut (unlike my pathetic attempts to make it at home that resulted in bread-like floor tiles). If you don't want fry bread, you can ask to have the bread grilled (ask for Ash Bread). I've never had it that way, though. I always get a Navajo Taco because no one makes them in Seattle. We DID have her home-made jam for breakfast at their home one morning and it's delicious. Who makes home-made jam for their restaurant??? She does (as well as the biscuits - which I really need to try next time). Hey, it's Blanding, I know. But, it's also good down-home cooking that would expect from a local small town restaurant.

We had a pleasant dinner here. We were happy that they were open on a Sunday at 9:15 pm. I tried the Navajo Taco and it was good. The fry bread it was made with was very nicely done. The others in my party had the country fried steak (good flavor, traditional), the chicken tenders (moist and tender), and the catfish (the least favorite of the group, a little overdone). The service was adequate. The atmosphere was like a diner. None of us tried the salad bar, but they had a fair selection.

Had dinner here tonight, after a basketball game. Darla, our waitress, was amazing! Eight people in our group, and she didn't write anything down, got it all right! Burgers are huge, salad bar and soup very good. Sounds silly but part of what made it so great was crushed ice in the drinks!

We just ate here and need to respond especially to the most recent review. The other sit down restaurant in town just closed and so they are swamped here. That explains the wait and the reason the place was very crowded when we got there for dinner at 7:15. We were greeted by Morgan who asked a table of two to move to a smaller table to accommodate our party of 3. It did take longer than expected to get our food, but since it was so busy, this was acceptable. We ordered a Navajo Taco, Ribeye steak and St. Louis ribs. As expected for a location practically in the middle of nowhere, the prices were a bit high, but not outrageous. My friends had the steak and ribs and they were both very happy with their food. I had the Navajo Taco and to be honest, for $9.99 it was less than I expected. It was supposed to have their homemade chili and salsa, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and olives. The bread was great, but the toppings were too thin in my opinion. They skimped on the chili and salsa (not even sure there was any salsa) and loaded up on lettuce and cheese. I don't even know if the chili had any meat at all. Overall I am giving this place 4 stars. The service by Morgan was great. She said it was her third day working as a waitress, and she did a good job. She was quick to fulfill any request we had and was very attentive. I recommend it if you are in Blanding.

Very nice restaurant for a small town. I agree with the other reviewers, make sure you try the biscuits with homemade raspberry jam. I ordered the flat iron steak. It was cooked as orderd and had a very good flavor. The menu had a large variety of choices.

My daughters vegetarian sandwich on Navajo fry bread was very good. My Navajo taco would have been great if the chili were home made and not from a can. Good service. Fries were good.

I usually don't like to leave bad reviews, but I really had to on this one. There is not much in Blanding as far as food goes but lets just say I went there hungry and left hungry. I ordered the short beef ribs. I took one bite and left the plate alone. It was cold and to top that off no one came to check on us not once after the food got there so its not like I could have ordered something else. Very disappointed

This is the only restaurant in Blanding that looks good, so we went in. The wife's seafood dinner had 20 percent shrimps and 80 percent potatoes - and nothing else to come with it (however, the potatoes looked and tasted great!). The cheesecake with cherry "topping" (which was ONE lonely small cherry) was the very smallest we ever got (wish I had taken a photo) and priced too high at $ 4.99. At least the service was fast and friendly. Next time we get us something from the Blanding supermarket which looks small but is real big inside for a little village like Blanding.

There really isn't that many places. But can't really go wrong here. There really is a local vibe to the atmosphere. Parking wasn't an issue. I had to ask for seconds and thirds for their biscuits, delicious with their raspberry jam. Great selection of meat. I thought it was funny our table was the flat of a sewing machine.

There are few options as you're driving through this area and my husband and I thought this was our best bet based on previous Yelp reviews. My advice, embrace your hunger and keep on driving. Our server Joe was kind and personable, but the food was CRAP! My husband ordered the 10oz ribeye for $20.99 with a sweet potato, both looked to have been cooked hours before and I'm not 100% convinced the "meat" was even beef. I had the Mahi Mahi for $21.99 with broccoli and mushrooms. What the hell was I thinking-Remember if you can't see or smell the ocean don't order anything from it. The very small piece of fish was previously frozen and raw in the middle...I'm pretty sure this was the cause of my aching stomach later that night!

OK, you are in Blanding - it isn't New York, New Orleans or LA. Don't expect Bobby Flay, Bourdain or Wolfgang Puck to welcome you to your table. Homestead Steakhouse is a great place to eat while on the road. Soup and Salad bar was just fine. Cheeseburger with green chile and bacon was really good. Fries were batter dipped - YES! They have inside and outside seating. Service was fast and the place had lots of customers. Friendly folk serving you.

My husband and I stopped here with our 8 year old daughter on the way to Moab. We were just looking for somewhere fast and cheap that had a children's menu. Our daughter had the chicken strips and we both had the Navajo taco. Service was fast and friendly, the patio had a/c so it was very pleasant watching the sunset. The food was delicious and the fries with the kids meal were thick and yummy. A very nice surprise in a small town with not many options.

I always seek out local, home-made cafe's when I travel, and this one represents exactly what I look for. It's clean, homey, not fancy. We came in about 7:30 on a week night, and the place was full of locals - a good sign. Our waitress was young and new, so not completely polished, but the food was great. I had "chicken fried chicken" with cream gravy - comfort food that was so tasty, my daughter kept eating off my plate. She had the Navajo taco which was so-so. There were several steaks on the menu along with other comfort foods such as hot roast beef sandwiches. It ranks near the top of these roadside cafes which I frequent.

Food is OK but service is terrible and extremely slow. Never asked how our meal was, had to ask several times for sweetner for ice tea, never asked or offered refills on ice tea or water. If Blanding had more choices this place wouldn't last long.

Sadly, I have eaten here before a few years ago and it was pretty good. We got there late (if 7:45 is late... it is in Blanding) and I think the owner had left. Anyways, there was some confusion as to who our waitress was and it took 1 HOUR and 15 MIN to get two cheeseburgers.. no shit... and they cheese was laid on top the of burger cold and the bun smelled like old, spoiled grease. If you want to eat in Blanding (which is pretty limited, to say the least) go to the Old Tymer around the corner.... or better yet, go to Monticello....

Best place in town and be warned'it is a dry town, so byob. The Navajo taco is excellent, and my black bean burger was quite good with fresh, generous toppings. Reasonably priced and pleasant service, with semi outdoor tables in a glassed in patio. And the raspberry sauce with the biscuits really is a winner.
