I've been to the Salt Lake location and thought it was decent, so it's nice to see that they have other joints in Utah County as well. This place was pretty busy for a Sunday night, so I took that as a good sign. We were seated in a booth that had high wooden walls, but they were a bit noisy when kids and other patrons would bang against them. Other than that, the decor was Mexican themed and colorful which suited this place. Our server was nice and our drinks and food were brought out promptly. My Michelada was delicious and satisfied my craving for this deliciously spiced up beer. I also liked the complimentary chips and salsa because it had a nice spiciness. So as you can probably tell from what I've mentioned thus far,I'm a fan of heat. For my entree, I went with an order of the Camarones a la diabla which was advertised as being very hot. Unfortunately, the shrimp were hugely lacking in any kind of spice which was slightly disappointing, but the sauce did taste pretty good in a buttery way.

Best Mexican food by far in northern utah. Homemade mexican food by a family business. Yes, it is authentic! Never mind overrated Cafe Rio. Cafe Rios food taste like it is straight out of a can. Mi Ranchitos is delicious and good for the pocketbook.

Been here a few times, good service, so-so food. This time I got the bean and cheese burrito and my husband got the chicken quesadilla. He really liked his, I thought the beans in the burrito were pretty salty. They do have great virgin Pina Coladas!

I am really bummed about this place. It's a small restaurant that gets busy quickly. We were seated and were served some chips and salsa which tasted pretty good. When we tried to order drinks the waitress said that she would have to charge extra for a slice of lime because they were running out. We asked for as many lime slices as we could get for free and we were given 1 slice (6 people at the table). The waitress came back to take our orders and seemed to be in a bad mood. We ordered and waited for our food to come out. When it did come out everything looked and tasted really good so the food is definitely not the problem. We all ran out of our drinks and were waiting for the waitress to come back. Finally a bus boy stopped and asked what our drinks were so he could help us (he was very kind and actually smiled at us). The waitress didn't come back until we were ready to pay and was once again really rude which is strange since she was nice and smiley to the table next to us. Ultimately I won't be coming back which stinks because the food was good, but the service was the worst I've ever had.

Big servings for good prices! Exactly what you should expect of from this type of restaurant. The service does take a little time, but the food is cooked for you from scratch. The wait staff, though busy and seemingly preoccupied is very courteous.

As with some of the other reviews, the service sucked. Where it not for the 2 or 3 previous visits, I would not be able to speak of the food because after 4 min wait (no the were not busy at all) to be seated, we then waited for 8-10 min for waters and a hello... waiters passed by, even a bus-boy... to no avail. Will not be returning. Hope they fail, and are bought-out by someone who keeps the menu the same and fires anyone who ever drew a paycheck from the current regime. Food is good, but the funky smells and soft service ruined me for good.

Holy creepiness, batman! I will not go back to this place EVER. I don't even know where to start. How about I just make a list of the nasty intricacies of this place? 1. Right when you walk in, there's no masking that over-powerful scent of ammonia. It's been my experience that this is a common smell for Mexican restaurants, but this time it was pretty friggin' powerful. 2. The setup is sort of strange. We were taken to this back room of the restaurant, adorned with Frida Kahlo-esque and Thomas Kinkade wall art. 3. While the rice and beans are pretty good, they put freaking Italian dressing on their beef tacos. Are you serious?! Apparently this is a Utah thing, because that was just nasty. I thought I was eating a crappy salad, not enjoying a friggin' taco. 4. The tortilla chips were store bought and not incredibly appetizing. Fortunately, the salsa wasn't too bad. Drumroll, please, for the CREEPIEST part of our visit... 5. Our server made me not want to EVER come back here. Right when we come in he looks at us like, oh yeah, [relatively] young girls. "Welcome", he says in the creepiest of creepy tones. We sit down and whenever he comes to our table, he checks out my roommate from head to toe over and over. Every time he walked by, he stared at her and totally freaked her out. When we were ready to pay, he took forever with our cards, and when he finally brought them back to to us, he spent forever trying to read the name on her card. When we were finished writing the tip out, he comes over and takes the receipts from us before we take off...really awkward. Even more awkward was the fact that when he was taking the receipt from my hand, he completely grabbed my hand in the process with his sweaty, creepy fingers. When we walked out, he winked at me and told my roommate to "come back", not as a request, but almost like a plea. Mostly because of that dude, but also because of the food, I will not come back here. Creepers.

A friend and I went to this restaurant for lunch. It doesn't look very fancy on the outside, but it was surprisingly busy, which is always a good sign. I ordered a beef tostada plate from the lunch menu. The portions were a good size and the food was fresh, though not anything out of the ordinary. The salsa was on the mild side and was decent, but, again, was not anything spectacular. If you're looking for a cheap Mexican dive, this is not the place to go. The prices on the regular menu are relatively high in comparison to other family-owned Mexican restaurants, and the meals do seem more elaborate (e.g. the molcajete.) Overall, the experience wasn't bad, and I'd be willing to come back to try more items.

I used to live here come to this place all the time. I stopped here on the trip this time and the food is excellent. And for the record I love the vinaigrette sauce they put on the tacos to me its first rate! The food is always been excellent! I had excellent service to when I was here. This Mi Ranchitos is the much uglier step-sister of the Orem location. They have rude and incompetent staff (Melissa at the front desk I'm referring to you) who would rather yell at customers than admit they made a mistake. The rice was over cooked, the meat disintegrated in your mouth before you even chewed (and not in a good way), and they charged us for food we never received. Needless to say, take the extra 10 minute drive and go to the Orem location. It's worth not dealing with their shit.

Their rice is the best rice ever! Never had a bad experience with the food here. A few times I haven't been impressed with the staff. We have dined and had take out form here several times. Our fav Mexican restaurant in Utah county.

What the freak just happened? I have always gone to the orem location, and loved everything there. I moved since then, and the American fork location is the closest. And boy was it a disappointment. Terrible service, food took forever, my taco was DRIPPING in oil, and the portions are smaller than orem. The acoustics are awful: everything echoes, especially that baby's screaming. Not worth the time or money.

So here ya go: Go for these reasons: 1. Best Mexican Fried Ice Cream in the WOLRD 2. Bistec en Rajitas is AMAZING 3. The salsa is homemade every day and is very very good. Things they could improve: 1. Loud restaurant because it is an old building 2. Odd restrooms that are not cleaned as often as they should be. 3. You can see into the kitchen if you look carefully and it is a little dirtier than I would like it to be. Not a great place for atmosphere. Building is old and tired. But, if you want good food.....this place has it.

People who have rated this low probably love the trendy gross Americanized Mexican regularly offered in these parts. Or they lost their taste buds in a horrible hot cocoa accident. This place blows the competition out of the water. My wife and I went to Red Iguana a few months back and the whole time I kept wishing we were at mi ranchito. I want to write a poetic ode to their salsa, its that good! Eat here and be full and happy when you leave.

Just say YES to Mexican food. Mom took me here for dinner and I was in a food paradise. Menu is huge, so I was a little overwhelmed by the selection, but the server was attentive and gave good suggestions so I settled on some traditional chimichangas. Atmosphere is cool, buoyed up by animated decor and classic Mexican tunes. I found the layout of the restaurant a little odd, and the parking lot is unjustifiably small. If you can't find a spot, don't assume it's because the restaurant's full -- it's not! -- park across the street and walk in, there will plenty of room inside. This place definitely deserves to be a regular part of your dining out repertoire!

Dining options in Utah County are limited on Sundays. (There are so many limits in Utah county, but that is beside the point.) Today I wanted good Mexican food, and I didn't want to have to drive up to Salt Lake. I ended up driving North along State Street past all the closed restaurants until reaching Mi Ranchito in AF. It'd been awhile since I'd last dined here, and the last time was okay. This time was great. Service was friendly, and attentive but not annoying. 3 Mole enchiladas, and a couple of Modelo Negras and I was one happy diner. I love mole, and I was pleased with their sauce. (It wasn't Red Iguana, but nothing can compare to Red Iguana's moles.) Next time you are hungry on the Sabbath, skip the chain restaurants. Give this place a shot. The menu was enticing enough, that I'll be back to try more.

I have been a consistent customer of Mi Ranchito for almost 8 years. Between my wife and I we frequent this restaurant at least four times a month. Three of the four times are for dinner. It is by far the best Mexican food I have ever had. How can this be? I've always said, "How can you screw up beans and rice?" I don't know what it is--but if I had to guess, I would say it's likely the freshness. My favorite is the Pork Chimi. It is consistently delicious. The free chips and salsa while you wait is quite good as well. Prices are very good; definitely a great value. The service is usually very good and the food service has been excellent 95% of the time. If you are near State Street in Orem, you might try Mi Ranchito there. The food is even better and the atmosphere has a better buzz. We have driven the extra 15 minutes many times to go there. But the one in American Fork is excellent as well.

My family In-laws have gone here for decades, best Mexican food you can find in Utah County. We love it, haven't had a complaint in 20 years of my going there. Fantastic Food, great, friendly service. Forgot to say, my brother-in-law calls it guts mainly because he has a whimsy stomach.

I've had good experiences at three of the Mi Ranchitos locations, and our dinner tonight at the American Fork restaurant was no exception. They were generous with chips and salsa, our food came out pretty quickly, and the combo platter was really big and tasty. My wife's one complaint was that she thought the enchilada tasted like cream of chicken soup.

it seems that I am only able to retain memory of how I feel about a place for six months, because that is roughly the frequency with which I find myself at Mi Ranchito. to avoid this happening again, I am writing this review. note to future me: Mi Ranchito is kind of gross. granted, I am not a fan of the brand of Ameri-Mex that focuses on massive quantities of melted orange cheese atop anything else on the plate resembling food (aside to future me: you will never enjoy a smothered burrito), but even within that genre I would say that the execution here is poor. as an example, I'm pretty sure my burrito contained meat, but I struggled to identify it. I suspect that there are some appealing menu items, but none that are included as one of the $6 lunch specials, and everything else on the menu seems overpriced. on a positive note, they do seem to have cheap beer and margarita specials provided you are there on the right day at the right time. on a negative note, my employer has taken a largely anti-cheap beer and margarita specials stance, particularly when those specials fall within office hours. other negatives include the fact that I had to ask for a bottle of hot sauce (at a place like this I feel a bottle should already be on the table) and that they were charging ten cents for mints at the register instead of making them available for free. these sorts of things may not matter to you, but they are things I will need to make a note of six months from now.

Ugh . . .this place muy malo. Don't bother with the menu--just order anything! It's all the same--just fatty beans and disgusting coagulating 'cheese'. I was with a big group and quite literally it was difficult to tell one order from another--in appearance or taste. What do people see in this place? It's not tasty, trendy, hip, or inexpensive--just cheap. Keep driving.

Mi Ranchito is pretty damn good! It's not the best Mexican food in the world. It's not even the best in Utah County. The food here is consistently good and very affordably priced, especially given the quantity and quality of food. Everything is cheesy, but not sickeningly smothered with the yellow stuff. The food is very Americanized, but at least they have shredded, not ground, beef. The service is super fast and very friendly and helpful. Need lunch? Go here! Dinner too, for that matter.

Disappointed by the carne asada but pleased by the camarones a la diabla the day after as leftovers. Being open on Sunday in Utah county and an urge for some rice and refried beans led us here. And if alcohol is your thing, try their michelada...it was the highlight of the night in my opinion...well, at least this lush's night.

It's a little weird that they don't have a lunch menu that is a lighter portion than a dinner menu. but whatever. The service was polite and attentive but they seemed to be understaffed at lunch. I had enchiladas de mole and it was good but not great. maybe I'm too picky but i like mole sauce to have a lot more going on in terms of the spice mixture. I'd go here again, just wouldn't order the same thing.

The margaritas are excellent and the food is for the most part well prepared and flavorful. The beef was a bit on the dry side for my taste in the enchiladas however the accompanying tacos were delicious. Make sure you bring an appetite as the portions are very large. The staff was very friendly and attentive.

I had the Friday Chimichanga special. I had the chicken. It was good. Your average ordinary Mexican food pretty bland. If you want spicy this is probably not your place. The service was great the staff is very nice and friendly. A great family atmosphere. I've eaten here a few times and it's A-OK
