High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. I arrived to Salt Lake City for a business trip and just wanted to go to a familiar place for dinner and a drink so I searched for Applebees near me. I almost didn't come here after reading the terrible reviews! I thought about driving the extra 5 miles to go to the next closest Applebees, but then it only had a half star more than this one, so I gave this one a try. I'm glad that I did. The service was delightful! I was there alone and sat at the bar on a Wednesday night. Lauren was attentive, personable, and provided excellent service. My meal arrived timely and it was hot and yummy. Okay, so if you are a "foodie" maybe Applebees isn't the place for you. In any case, I'm here for another two nights before returning home and I know where I'll be spending them. ;)

Typical franchise chain with bad food and bad service. Went last night and can only hope this is the last time. Took way too long to get drinks - even longer wait for refills. Food was not good - had a burger and it was dry and no seasoning. I'm not sure why we keep thinking it will get better - food is boring and bad. Servers are all young and still learning how to help customers. Manager did go by a couple of times to ask how we were doing.

I will NEVER go back to this Applebee's ever again. It took over 20 minutes for the waiter to even look at us. It took another 15 minutes to get our drinks. The service was awful and the restaurant was super nasty!! Trash all over the floors. Keep driving past this location. You will be extremely disappointed!

Never had a meal at any Applebees that I liked. They all seem to have bland boring food

A few of the employees were trying really hard to give quality service. By a "few", I do mean 3 of them. We were looking for a place to eat on a Saturday night, and Applebee's was the only restaurant we saw that didn't have a line out the door. Go figure?! I ate here with a group. There were 7 of us. The two hostesses were arguing, right in front if us, about where to put us. Right off the bat we were feeling awkward. When we were finally seated our server was very attentive. We got our drinks quickly. I only got 1 glass of Dr. Pepper, because they ran out of it. No refills for me. They were also out of ribs. A few minutes after we ordered 2 entrees arrived at our table. A considerable amount of time passed before 4 more meals made it to us. And the last plate took the longest to head our way. The way all of the food arrived from the kitchen was really bizarre. I had the chicken tenders basket. In my basket there were 2 pieces of normal-sized chicken, and several overcooked chicken nugget 'things'. There was a hair (not my own) in my soggy fries. The moment I found it, was also the moment the manager arrived. I mentioned it, and was given a complimentary small strawberry cheesecake dessert. Two of us were using gift cards (the ONLY reason I ate here was because I had it) as partial payment. Apparently, their computer terminal was malfunctioning and wouldn't let either of us pay the balance on our check, after the gift cards, with Visa cards. Luckily, I had cash; but it was mighty inconvenient. Our server was one of the employees that gave an A+ effort, and I tipped him accordingly. But it wasn't enough to overcome the other missteps, & the icky food.

Do not go. This is well below Chili's quality just up the street. We went to Applebee's for the first time in a long while, and 1st time at this location. There wasn't much that was appetizing on the menu. I settled for the Cedar Grilled Lemon Chicken, and it was okay, but didn't see much else that made it worth the visit. Everyone else in my party were dissatisfied with their meals. Now I see all the other reviews, and realize I should have read them before going in here, my bad.

So the food was good. Less salty than most Applebee's which is nice but the service was bloody awful. Not very friendly... Or professional.

The food was fine, but the service was horrible. Took about an hour to get the bill and we had to ask them multiple times.

I usually avoid Applebee's because I've never had anything really enjoyable from there. For the first time in years, I went along with some family members for a late dinner (their choice, not mine). After reading some of the other reviews, I have to point out that our service was excellent. There were only 4 other groups in the restaurant at the time, but still...quick, attentive, and accurate service. That's where the 2 stars come from. Just as I'd remembered, the food is awful. I describe it as "over-salted nursing home food with flair". I ordered the Fiesta lime chicken. The chicken breast was juicy, but so over-flavored and over-salted that it was almost inedible. The plate it was presented on was large, but the chicken breast couldn't have been more than 3 or 4 ounces. It was smothered in a "cheese" sauce that tasted like that fake cheese ypu spray out of a can. There was a small heap of undercooked and over-salted spanish rice, and the rest of the plate was a huge heap of stale colorful chip strips, aka "flair". I stand by my original opinion of Applebees. It's great for the elderly, whose taste buds have dulled over time. Not worth it.

I visited this restaurant late in the evening after a concert. I'd read the reviews about their poor service but since they were the only ones open at that time I decided to go anyway. I told my wife that it couldn't be as bad as many people made it sound like. We walked in and there was no hostess to greet us, we wondered if we had to seat ourselves. We stood there for a couple of minutes before the bartender saw us and came to greet us. He seemed annoyed to have to be doing this job and was clearly not in his element. He finally figures out the table seating diagram and takes to our table; he mutters something about our server's name but we didn't catch it. We sat in the nearly-empty restaurant for five more minutes and just began to laugh at the lack of service. We saw a group of employee sitting in a booth eating and another group watching the boxing match on TV. Eventually one of them came over to take our order. We ordered three appetizers and drinks. The food and drink arrived in good time but then the server went back to watching the boxing match and forgot about us. We needed plates for our appetizers and additional napkins (chicken wings can be messy) but our server didn't return. So my wife went to the bar to ask for the items. The bartender was annoyed to have to deal with her but grumpily complied. Eventually our server came by and brought us plates. We asked for drink refills at that time. The server forgot about it until the end of our meal. We just laughed at the poor service. It truly is a comedy of errors. Our server was nice, but he truly is not cut out to be a server. This store needs to look at their staff and consider cleaning house. Avoid this restaurant if you can.

Horrible horrible service. Came here w my family (wife and 2 kids), and all we ordered was 2 milkshakes, no drinks either. Waiter didn't come to us until 15-20 minutes after we sat down. Wasn't worried about that too much, but we waited 45 minutes after ordering and never got our milkshakes. We just left and went to Rita's (should've went there in the first place). Horrible service would not recommend.

We ordered 3 adult meals, 3 kids meals and a appetizer. My ribs were room temperature and my appetizer never came. We told the manager about the appetizer and he said he would take it off of my bill. The server seemed indifferent about me not getting my appetizer. The kids were the only ones happy about their meal. I have to say this is the worst Applebee's I have ever been to.

This is the worst eating out experience I have ever had. the service is the worst ever, one of the waitresses that brought out our food, dumped my daughter's coleslaw in her lap and said nothing. she just walked off our actual waiter seeing this said "do you want some napkins" . the manager came by later to see how it was, and upon telling him our experience he said to her, I guess you don't want coleslaw again and laughed. Food was awful and cold!

  • Zane B.

All in all nothing amazing. The service was fine however the restaurant is to small to fit everyone. I got the honey pepper steak and it was over cooked and tough. The French onion soup was ok but nothing more. We had a great server and she was the only positive.

Blurg! I will admit, I am a fan of Applebees. Except the one in American Fork. Good heavens, this place stinks - though only really when it comes to service. I came here last night with a friend and we had to put our name down because there was a mass of people. Why we all choose to congregate at an Applebees on a Friday night is beyond me. While we waited for that half an hour, we walked over to Kohl's, where I convinced my friend to buy the GT Xpress 101 grill - that thing is incredible! At least the infomercial tells me so. When we came back to the restaurant we were seated and our server greeted us fairly soon after we sat down. We ordered drinks and he came back quickly to take our orders. From then on, we barely saw him. The couple behind us who ordered only minutes before us, finished their meals and took off even before we received ours. While our meals were really tasty, the server wasn't. Oh Monte, shouldn't you understand by now that you've entered a service-driven position? Yes, I realize that it's Friday and you're swamped, but good night. We didn't have any utensils at the table, but fortunately we ordered items that didn't require such - even so, we had no napkins and there were no empty tables from which to swipe napkins from or any servers nearby to ask for some assistance. The most attentive the server was to us was when he finally gave us the bill. He came back twice before we were ready to hand it to him, and mind you this was only within approximately a 5 minute period. By this time, they weren't even packed anymore so I'm unsure as to why he was so hasty. Needless to say it affected his tip, but with how much those guys make, you can't be too harsh. I'll probably come back, but will hope for a different server.

I've never been impressed by this place, and our latest visit did nothing to help matters. The food was pretty good, but our service was rather lousy. The server didn't give us enough silverware-and-napkin packets, we had to keep reminding her about parts of our order, and the meal seemed to take longer to get to our table than it should have.

Meh it's alright. I'd rather go to Chilis but they are open later. And from 9-12am they have $4 off appetizers. Decent food. Waitress was nice:)

TERRIBLE!!! made me sick with severe stomache pain all night on my birthday! there were flies and some landed on our food! the windows and blinds were thick with dust. HORRIBLE PLACE TO EAT! only go there if you want to get sick. i called them later and talked wot the assistant manager, they would not accept responsibility, and only offered a certificate to go eat at another applebees location! only after we argued back and forth in a few phone calls did they agree to refund my money. horrible place to eat! never go there!

  • Tiffany C.

Pretty disgusting but our waiter though slow and not very attentive (I had to ask 3 times before I could get napkins; with two littles, it was pretty much an emergency by the time I asked for the third time) was nice. We had the mushroom steak salad. I couldn't finish. Yuck! I did like the artichoke dip appetizer.

After reading all the reviews I expected a horrible experience. But it was 50/50 my food was good my wife's not so good since the order was wrong but understandable since they have 2 items on the same menu that sound the same. The manager was very nice and compt the meal. But the most redeeming factor of this experience was Betty our server. I see you there been trying to improve the experience there. And give props for a better experience then I have had.

I have never had an experience quite like the one I recently had at this location. We had a large party of 15 including 6 children, we called in advance to notify the restaurant of our party size to which the hostess told us the wait would be about 15-20 mins and that it would be no problem accommodating us. Upon arrival we were again notified that the wait would be 15 mins to be seated. We waited and watched multiple smaller groups be seated and served as we patiently waited to be be seated. After 40 mins I asked the hostess if we would be seated soon and she answered with an attitude and told me they were trying to get tables ready. She was very rude and began arguing with me that other parties had been seated before us. Finally she sat us, long story short we waited another hour! After being seated and still had not even had the kids meals or appetizers served! Not once did the manager come to explain the delay, one table near us was seated 3 separate times during our wait. At 9 pm, 2 hours after our arrival, 2 of our party approached a server in the back of the restaurant to request a manager to which the server responded "he's busy". The staff was so incredibly rude I was astonished! By this time the younger children were crying and not once were we approached to explain the delay or offered even a bowl of chips. When the manager came out he was just as rude as his staff. We walked out of the restaurant at 9:15 with famished little ones and a taste so bad in my mouth for this location I wish I could call corporate and let them know how their franchise is being run.

Wouldn't recommend. I'll not go back. Food was average to bad. Chicken was way overcooked. The spinach artichoke dip was scalded to the serving plate. Chips were good though. Service was prompt and friendly but delivered without much personality. We got the 2 for $20 special so price was reasonable. There are lots better places to eat in the area.

This restaurant has the most consistently poor service of any Applebees in the valley. Avoid this location and drive to the Orem or Draper locations. They always take FOREVER to get your food out and good luck getting a refil on your soda!

Average food and terrible service. We came in around 5:00 and were sat (in a nearly empty restaurant) by an obnoxious family with very noisy children (parents never told their kids to settle down at all). When we asked to be moved we were told maybe we should come in later, since 5:00 was when most families come in. No apologies. What? Doubt I will ever return, and we eat out a lot.
