We have been going here for a couple years now and it is by far the best sushi in Tyler. They also have excellent dinner dishes for those who do not like sushi. The staff is very nice and helpful about what to try.

I actually managed at a sushi bar myself. We had a very strict dress code and were not pet friendly. However I have never argued with or belittled the owner of a service animal. I was sure to know the law before speaking and worked under knowledgeable GMs. Also the cowardice shown by the owner to not address the guest is most unforgivable. Yes the assistant is for your dirty work, and sometimes it requires a personal touch. Really sad I won't get to dine here anymore when I'm in town. facebook.com/sarah.rempf…

Steve W. I worked with service dogs in training for years. Anyone can buy a vest off the internet. Seizure dogs, as the one this woman had, do not necessarily have to "look" a certain way. Staff cannot ask if she is disabled, therefore your point is moot. Regardless I've been to your place twice. The food was certainly not worth what I paid for and the staff were slow and neglectful. I will not be back.

gov.texas.gov/disabiliti… They asked a young lady with a service dog to leave, completely disregarding state law that requires them to comply. Please consider not eating here!

We'll start with two stars as far as the sushi/rolls/nagiri and sashimi options go, (we'll leave the plate option put for another time) so I wasn't in the mood to spend what I usually do on sushi, but I hadn't tried wasabi yet and was up for something new.....however as far as prices go...Stop! turn around! and go elsewhere! Their "signature" rolls Mostly consist of "cooked sushi" as do their famous rolls. Strike one for me! All of which you will be paying dearly for 14-18 a roll! You could get a decent steak down the road for these prices. Anyways I decided on the mackerel nigiri and crab wontons stuffed with IMITATION "alaskan snow crab" advertised as the real thing. The mackerel being the cheapest nigiri came heavy on the rice and light on the sashimi. And one damn kirin ichiban is 6 bucks! so pay the extra dollar and get a shot of patron or grey goose to take away the shock of the drink prices. Once my bank account is out of the red I'll try their plate/nodel/curry options.

Please review the state laws regarding service animals. Once informed a dog is a service animal, you must allow the dog in your establishment.

I have been twice now, I really wanted to have something positive to say. Food is mediocre and overpriced. The service both times was severely lacking.
(2)Jay L.
Appetizer came after main course was served and arrived under cooked Wasabi Fried rice was not fried and had no wasabi in it Dan Dan noodles lacked flavor Basic crap-ola.

This was the only sushi place open on a Sunday. Sashimi was very thin and expensive ($17 for tuna) we also tried the Texas ranger roll which was very good. Service was very slow, and there was no sushi bar. They didn't have normal soy sauce dishes they have regular ramekins, which did not fit the sushi. Menu was just okay as far as options. Overall the quality and cuts of sushi were not worth the price.
(3)Bryan H.
That is correct Steve W. You don't have the right to ask. We all know what you did, because you admitted it. Get out of our town !
(1)Na H.
I agree with the other reviews that service could be quicker but I don't really mind the wait if the food comes out tasty. My sister had the pad thai and it tasted good. The salmon nigiri was also really fresh the day I had it.
(3)Tim W.
I have been coming here for years and still hss great sushi. I think the place needs to be repainted or updated in some way after five years. Oh the bartender makes a great Margarita.
(4)Aaron B.
Service was much faster today, wasn't bad for soup and a roll. Waitstaff was new, (less than 1 week here) but adequate. .

Some people might enjoy rape. I, for one, couldn't opine, as I've never been physically raped, but I've experienced a few fiscal rapes. My latest, what I view as a fiscal rape, occurred at Wasabi earlier this week. Here's a setup: Friend and I at the bar: {Perusing through the drinks options, while ugly bartender ignored us} After about 10 minutes, the ugly bartender (in appearance, and personality) greeted us. We ordered the following: 4 orders of nigiri wonton soup kung pao scallops When the wonton soup came out, it consisted of 2 whole wontons. Hmm, ok...only two? Our sushi went mia, as the ugly bartender said it went to "another table." My friend's reply was, "Well, did they eat it, or did they send it back?" Ugly bartender {think bubbles} wasn't sure. Or, she was lying, because she's possibly too dumb to effectively place an order... The ugly bartender, who screwed up our drink, and food orders repeatedly throughout the hour we were there, is , in my opinion, blatantly incompetent at running a bar. The food: Yeah, it really sucked too. The scallops were the worst (other than a low rent, fast casual Chinese joint) that I've ever consumed. The sushi was subpar, at best. I used to like this place, but like their sister restaurant, Soju, they can't quite grasp the bar, and the food has gone downhill in quality, while their prices have escalated. I heard they're under new Mgmt., or ownership, so this might be an explanation. $100 gets ya' shitty food, shitty service, and shitty drinks. No thanks.
(1)John P.
I saw the video of the service dog incident. I was appalled by the treatment of a disabled person who clearly tried to explain the law regarding the service animal and what could be asked regarding the status of the animal. She clearly stated that the animal was a service animal. I am also making Yamato my preference when selecting a place to eat. You would do yourself a lot of good by admitting your mistake. And an apology to that couple is definitely warranted.

We have eaten our way thru 100s of sushi bars thru NYC, Chicago, Florida, & Texas and NOTHING beats this place. A volcano roll made of crawfish & scallops tops all others! The Hawaiian roll is a perfect balance, the Rainbow Roll is so fresh. The blue bayou is outstanding too. The hot & sour soup is even amazing. We recommend this place to everyone we know who goes RVing at Tyler State Park and we come EVERY TIME we visit. Great service from Jake & last night's manager, hats off to the chef and the owners for the freshest sushi in the country. Can't wait for another volcano roll :) The best sushi in the country is in Tyler TX, we laugh every time we say this but it is true!
(5)Kara N.
I've been here twice and the sushi was good both times. I had the California roll and Shrimp Tempura roll, my husband had the Volcano roll, all delicious. My 4 year old devoured the Lo Mein noodles with shrimp. The waiter was very nice and attentive. All and all pretty pleased.
(4)Angie R.
The last couple of times we have been here have not been as good. The veggies in my veggie roll tasted canned and overall the food just did not taste as good. Not sure what happened but we haven't been back since.
(2)Amanda M.
Best sushi ever!! I've been eating here for about 2 years now and I have not been disappointed yet! Any time I travel or go on vacation, eating sushi is a must due to the fact I live in a small town and sushi is always a rare treat. I have been to countless sushi bars all over Texas and a few in Florida. You would think that larger cities would have better quality sushi compared to a semi-small city of Tyler, BUT that is not the case! I have ordered the exact same roll at other establishments and you can taste the poor quality of the fish. These other places always have good ratings and seem to be very popular among locals and tourists, so that is not the issue. Any time I eat sushi somewhere else, I always think... "not as good as Wasabi!" Service has always been extremely personal and excellent quality. You feel like you are friends with the servers after your dinner is over. Expect to give a good tip to these guys because they deserve it! They have soooo many things to pick from, but here are my favs: Tyler TX Roll (My go to roll... You will be speechless) Lobster Crunch Roll (A seriously big roll that will also put you in a "no-talking-moment" due to its amazingness Salmon Nigiri (seriously the most perfect, high grade, supple salmon I've ever had... does not have that weird "taste" that low quality salmon has) Dumplings (Nice starter item that is oh so delish) I could say so much more about this awesome gem, but I will leave it at that. Taste and experience the awesomeness for yourself!
(5)Amber E.
Every time we go to Wasabi, we request Jesse as our server and are never disappointed! He's super friendly and always attentive to us - enjoy seeing him. The food's never disappointing, rolls or otherwise. HOWEVER, Shiso Shrimp has been discontinued, and we'd LOVE to have it back! Visit Wasabi next time you're in town! Ask for Jesse!
(4)Vanessa G.
I go for the fresh, creative cocktails, appetizers, and rolls!! Snow white is my favorite (sauce on the side). Texas Ranger is an excellent choice if you are wanting something cooked with a kick. The sunflower is a must have starter, and the shrimp ceviche is a meal on its own! Try some of the flavored saki lemonades (with fresh raspberry is delicious) or a Flirtini. The best part is they have a full menu of tasty dishes for my non-sushi eating husband!!! He loves the broccoli garlic soy with beef and fried rice.
(5)Lee T.
Have always enjoyed the food here. Usually go for a spicy roll, try the Samurai, but have had the sashimi and was very pleased. The atmosphere is nice and trendy, with an outside patio for those nice Summer nights. Took 2 stars off the completely unpredictable service. Busy or full it's the proverbial box of chocolates, never know what ur gonna get.
(3)Kathi O.
My husband and I ordered the Sashimi deluxe. Well in my humble opinion sashimi is raw fish! Not smoked, cooked and peppered and should be generous slices not almost shaved pieces ! Very disappointed. We would not come back here. Clean well decorated
(1)Pete V.
This place used to be good. It's dirty with poor server-selection. Sushi is just sad. I asked for tuna sashimi but they were out. Asked for spicy tuna hand roll (it was a trap and it worked). They had plenty if spicy tuna. What does that tell you? Not going back.
(1)Lacey W.
Ok. I loved this place. It's a feel like home environment. The sushi was amazing! Can't get better I say. I've been here a couple times for sushi and mixed drinks. Love them. I make my own sushi at home plus I have been to many many sushi restaurants, in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, California and I say this beats them all. No doubt
(5)Brandon W.
My friends and I have always enjoyed going here until as of late.... The wait staff has always been very nice. Over the course of the last year the place seems to be deteriorating. Bathroom facilities/faucets are loose and falling apart; along with the menus that are also no longer up-to-date; outdoor patio gas lines no longer working; and egg drop soup that had what appeared to be something from a different world. The last straw tonight: as we ordered from their happy hour menu, we were informed that the order was placed after 6....easily 20 mins after our order. Another manager that does not seem to care about the degradation of their restaurant or agreeing with the customer! Think this will be the last time we go to Wasabi and possibly the co-owned Soju on principle alone.
(2)Deborah N.
I got the Volcano and it was very good and very fresh ... Got the pot stickers but they were very "cooked" on the bottom ... A little disappointed .... The service was very slow .... Waitress was very personable and pleasant and this may be just the way the service is ... But we wanted to go shopping and had to ask for the check twice.... Oh forgot I got the Wasabe salad and it too was very fresh and very good...nice atmosphere ... very nice surroundings...I would come again... and not have shopping on my mind!
(4)Livi O.
When we first got in the door it was 3:30 they seated us immediately then we ordered 3 salads and a order of potstickers the bottom of the potstickers was Burnt though . There are only 2 other tables here and it took them 20 minutes to get our appetizers out. When the finally got our sushi out it was amazing . Not a thing that I would have done differently. The ginger was great it was really fresh tasting. Although the service was bad the meal was ok.
(3)Todd S.
I don't get all the love for Wasabi. Average rolls at best. The bistro side is even worse. I have visited several times and have been less than impressed. The place is clean, and the bar, while small is nice. What I don't get is why Tyler people are willing to wait in line for this place. I ordered some infused beef entree at the recommendation of my server. What I got was some tough and bland beef. And onions galore. I'm talking an entire onion after I picked them all away. The fried rice is more akin to some bad fast-food rice. Bottom line. For much better bistro, try Julians. For much better sushi, try Shoguns. For mediocrity, come here.
(2)Lauren L.
Would have been nice to hear the happy hour specials before happy hour expired. Had to hear it from the table next to me and then by the time my server showed back up it was post-HH time so I couldn't get the discount. Usually good eats, but irritated now. I want cheap wine.
(3)Chrystal S.
Sushi in Tyler? What?! A friend recommended this establishment for an after work hang so we decided to give it a try. The first thing I noticed was how nice and tranquil the area was--walked in and my eyes were impressed by the upscale decor. The second thing I noticed was sticky floor! Everyone in my party mentioned it as we sat down. Fortunately, we forgot about that pretty fast once our server Audrey introduced herself. I've read some pretty harsh reviews of the service at Wasabi but Audrey was one of the most impressive servers I've ever had anywhere. She was patient, kind and made helpful suggestions to this Wasabi first timer. The food was outstanding and beautifully presented. Between all of us we tried nigiri, sashimi, rolls, soup, salad, curry and gyoza plus house cocktails and beer. Everything was great. At least twice during dinner a gentleman came by to check on us in addition to the attentiveness of the server. Maybe the manager? I always appreciate management that cares about customers. We will be making Wasabi a regular stop whenever we are in Tyler.
(5)Brianna B.
We love Wasabis! The atmosphere is dark and cozy, especially if you sit in the bar lounge area. We have not had anything we didn't enjoy. For appetizers, we usually get the egg rolls or pit stickers. Our favorite roll is the non-traditional Texas Ranger, which is battered and deep fried.
(5)Jeremy M.
Ate here again last night, and was surprised at how much better the sushi was. Enough so that I told my server, and he said they had brought in a new sushi chef some months ago. Whoever he is, he is getting the details right. No longer do the rolls crumble apart with warm-ish rice, much lighter on the sauces, the fish is cooler and firmer, and they are presented better as well. The menu has not changed, so it still has the heavier rolls typical of Texas (plenty of fried rolls, not my thing). My server Mark was attentive without hovering, and carried himself with quiet competence. My favorites are still the Samurai roll and squid salad. It's so nice outside, I think I'll head there now to eat and sip sake on the patio.
(4)Kristi S.
I received a gift card so I went for dinner one night. I just don't love their sushi. It's not bad by any means but just okay.
(3)Eva D.
Took my kids here for Saturday brunch. The wait staff was very friendly, offering trainer chopsticks for the kids, and asked if I'd like their food brought out first. For the kids, they shared a chicken fried rice. In terms of Chinese food, it was more on the plain side, but for kids that is a good thing. They also tried a California roll. I had a Mrs. Pac Man and a Snow White roll. All the sushi was very delicious. You could tell the fish and shellfish was of a good quality (not necessarily the quality of an upscale bar in Dallas, but pretty good), they used real crab meat (which is hard to find in East Texas), and the presentation of the sushi was aesthetically pleasing. The rolls themselves were pretty big, which was a great plus. On another occasion, I had a Ranger roll and pot stickers, along with a mimosa. Same experience--good service, and everything was delicious and of a good quality. The meal was on the pricey side for Tyler--closer in price to upscale sushi bars in Dallas--but the quality of the fish makes the price understandable. As for atmosphere, it is very hip/cosmopolitan, with a blend of modern and Asian stereotype decor; but it looks and feels nice. It's location next to a hotel kind of takes away from the classy factor. As for parking, you have to share a parking lot with hotel guests, so on a Friday night it can be really frustrating. If you are visiting Tyler and sick of eating barbecue and burgers and don't want to eat at a chain, it is worth seeking this place out.
(4)Ian A.
Found the food took too long and was overpriced. 8 pieces of sushi and rolls for $25? No soup or salad at that price?!? I can get that plus soup AND salad for that price. Plus, smelt eggs on the California Rolls?!? No thank you. Don't see the big attraction to this place. There are better choices in Tyler.
(2)Amanda K.
I got a salmon roll, veggie roll and steamed veggies. The food just didn't seem fresh. Especially the fish. I may be spoiled from living in Dallas but I wouldn't go here again.
(2)Robbie P.
The rolls are delicious. Must try the wasabi fried rice. I went with my friends and everyone liked the food and service. I'm definitely coming back for the food.
(4)Nick N.
Went again and ordered crab meat fried rice. 14 dollars. Smaller portion of fried rice with right out of the package imitation crab meat laying on top. For 14 dollars that is a joke. The lobster crunch roll is good but at 18 the prices here don't go with the meals. 14 dollars for a mediocre fried rice dish that comes with nothing else
(2)Mark T.
Really enjoy the food here. Actually prefer wasabi to soju as far as the food goes but the service here is so frustrating I eat soju more. Last time I went to WASABI, we told the hostess we'd sit at the bar. Sat down and 5 mins later no one had acknowledged us. I then started a timer on my phone thinking it was sorta comical and stated to my friend "lets see how long we can sit here before someone talks to us." After another 5 minutes passed I told her "if the timer got to 7 mins we would leave and go else where." It did while the hostess played on her phone.... We watched two servers even walk behind the bar and prepare drinks for their table also talk to other staff in the kitchen. Sat for 12 to 15 mins and no one even noticed us. It's unfortunate cause I love the food but the service is so bad I don't frequent as often as I would if they would staff the place with ppl that know hospitality. At the very least train them to act like it. Oh well I'm sure I'll be in there next week dealing with it to get my sushi fix.
(3)Stone B.
Took a sushi newbie there for dinner Saturday night. We got there about 9 pm and were seated immediately. Our waiter was very good, he made sure we had everything we needed all night but never once did I feel like he was hovering. The sushi was excellent. REMEMBER, THIS IS TYLER. The quality of the fish is just slightly below what you are going to get in the metroplex, so if you keep that in mind, you are going to have a great time. They make up for the quality of the fish by getting extremely creative with the sushi rolls, and the rolls are enormous - about 50% larger than you will get in DFW. I ordered six rolls for the two of us, and I should have ordered maybe three, but I wanted to let her try a variety of stuff, so... We had a great time. I got my friend to try sushi for the first time, and none of it was smothered with cream cheese, either. We went from the very simple - your standard yellowtail roll - through spicy salmon, to seared tuna nigiri that was absolutely awesome, to a couple of fancy rolls that I can't remember the names to, other than one of them had mango and avocado in it and it was pretty darn good. ( It was a little sweet for a main course, it reminded me of the mango sticky rice dessert I get at one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Fort Worth. I'll probably order it for dessert the next time I'm in there. ) The only thing that really irritated me, and it was just a small irritation, is that instead of a shallow little dish for your soy sauce, they gave us ramekins, like the ones creme brulee or flan comes in. Made it harder than necessary to dip my sushi. Anyway, to sum up, the food was good (better than I expected) and the service was excellent.
(4)Amber W.
Wasabi is easily my favorite restaurant. The food is excellent- start to finish. Prices are reasonable. The appletinis are perfect. Wait staff is attentive and friendly. Try the calamari- it's light and delicious. Some of our favorite rolls are the California and Veggie. Give it a try- this place is great.
(5)Karthik R.
One of my favourite places to dine in tyler. They never dissapoint. My favourites are drunken noodles, chicken wraps, red&green curry.
(4)Debbie M.
I came in this weekend to order some food to-go for my family. The hostesses were very sweet and polite, and very knowledgable about the menu. One of them asked if I wanted a water while I waited and then brought it right out to me. The food was delicious, even my kids loved it. My husband and I had the tyler tx and the GM roll, the kids shared sweet and sour chicken and chicken fried rice. Definitely will be coming in again!
(5)Matt W.
We don't live in Tyler but close enough to have a few favorite places. It's very likely this will be added to the list. My teenage son just discovered sushi in the past year and we've been trying a lot of places in the area but so far this is our favorite. The food is very clean; you want sushi to be elegant and artistic but still taste fresh and have discernible textures and everyone of the five types we tried were perfect. The waitstaff, for an early Thu afternoon, was still polite and attentive. The atmosphere was extremely trendy but not so over the top it would exclude families or elderly. The location was very convenient, once I figured it out :-) My last note is that this is a very affordable restaurant. The two of us devoured 5 plates of sushi, 2 bowls of soup, 2 drinks and a pot of green tea for $47 (before gratuity). They have expensive options that are really cool if you are looking for that but also a ton of choices at $7 and $8 and a good selection under $15-$20. I'm not one of Tyler's oil baron family elite, so I appreciate value and options! Check this place out for a good time!
(4)Aurora A.
I seeked out this place as I visited my family in Texas. I got the Tyler TX roll and boy was it delicious. Coming from Cali, I can't find a roll like it. The only downside was that i think the sushi's too pricey and when we were seated on our table, I told the hostess that I just wanted water and she gave me a puzzled look on her face while she said, "I'm sorry, I'm not the waitor," and walked off. Interesting to see.

I was very disappointed with this place. I am in town on business and instead of sitting at a bar by myself for my entire meal, i decided to get some sushi take out to eat in my room. I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a go....not a good idea! Service was pretty poor. The bartenders seem more interested in talking with each other and the servers then in serving their customers. I ordered a beer and asked for a menu to select my take out. All this went quick, but then I waited for quite a while to actually place my food order....this is when I observed the bartenders chatting it up with the servers at the service bar. Both of them had their backs to the entire bar and their customers for a good 5-10 minutes with no checking. I finally ordered my food. 2 stars gone for crappy service. I ordered the Sushi Combo, advertised as 8 pieces of sushi - chefs choice as well as a miso soup. Food was ready relatively quickly, and i grabbed my togo bag, paid my tab and left. When I arrived in my hotel room, first thing i notice is no miso soup! I know i probably should have checked before leaving...but still. another star gone! Next i checked my sushi. While I understand that it is Chefs choice, i was very surprised to see that of my 8 pieces of sushi, i got 2 Shrimp, 2 Yellowtail, 2 Tuna and 2 Peppered Tuna. Yes, this is 8 pieces, but in most other good sushi places, you get a bit more variety and very few doubles. I was very disappointed in the diversity. Another star gone. The sushi itself was good, but nothing really special. I am not sure if this is the norm for Sushi places around here, but this would not pass muster where I am from. I might be a bit harsh on this review, but I really feel the low rating is warranted.
(1)Gracie B.
Their quality of beef is terrible. I'd compare it to cafeteria meat. Aka, cheap meat. Things a taste funky. And it's WAY over priced. Also, they skimped on the fish in all the rolls we got. This place is not worth it. Don't waste your time.
(2)Kelly H.
The food was okay. The atmosphere was nice but our service was subpar. The food took forever to come out and he took too long to bring the check. The server didn't seem too happy to wait on us and didn't bring me back my full amount of change... so I took it out of his tip.
(2)Nick S.
My initial impression of the restaurant was it looked very much like a Pei Wei-ish. The server was great and the food ranged from just okay to awesome. The standouts from our meal were the Jalapeno Poppers (DEFINITELY TRY THESE!) and the Tyler Texas roll. I gave a lower score and will not be returning based on the following: ---------------------------------------------- ISSUE #1: ---------------------------------------------- We wait in line to get a table and are eventually told by the hostess that it would be approximately 20 minutes for a table. Typically on a Friday night 20 minutes is great to me. Problem was, they had SEVERAL open tables available. I asked the hostess why we had to wait and we were informed that we only had two people in our party and those tables were 4-top and 6-top tables. I told the hostess that this was ridiculous and she responded by saying that she would ask her manager if she could seat us at one of those tables. While waiting, several other "2-tops" were told there would be a 20 minute wait and they walked right back out the door. Nice way to lose business when you clearly have seating available. Anyway, they were able to find us a 2-top table and we were seated. Let me add that immediately after being seated, I headed for the restroom and passed another 2-top table that was clean and had been set. I guess they forgot about that one. ---------------------------------------------- ISSUE #2: ---------------------------------------------- I get about halfway through my Tyler Texas roll and find a brown hair in my food. I send it back with our waiter expecting that he will just bring me a new one. The GM, Jesus, comes out and says "No one in my kitchen has hair that light, so it must've somehow gotten in your food out here. I'm taking it off your check." I insist that I do not want him to do this and that I just want them to bring me a new roll. He argues and insists that he take it off our check and I finally agree. We waited for a while and I finally ask the waiter if they were bringing me a new roll. He thought that they were just taking it off my check and that was that. I told him that I would love to finish my dinner and to bring me a new roll...that I WILL pay for it. He smiles and says that he'll get the order in. A few minutes later the GM, Jesus, returns to our table to tell me that it would take too long (about 15 minutes) to make me a new roll and that he had put in an order of Jalapeno Poppers for me, insisting that everyone loves them and I will too. So, the GM accuses me of being a liar, never plans to bring me replacement food, and ends up bringing me something completely different from the menu without asking me what I might have preferred (thank God they were actually awesome). I ended up leaving the additional money that I would have spent on the Tyler Texas roll on the check as a tip for the server as a matter of principle. ----------------------------------------------

We made reservations on a Monday night for 7. Arrived and were given a 6-top table right at the entrance. We asked if we could have a larger table or push another table up against ours and the waitress said probably not but she'd ask the manager. He came over and said "I can't waste another table on you, I'm sorry." We were right in the way of people walking in the restaurant, as well as being on top of each other without enough room or place settings. I've eaten here several times and the food is always prepared well and very fresh. However, each time their service is lacking. I ordered the sauce on the side for my fish and it arrived with the sauce on it and the waitress called it another entrée. I asked if it was the correct one and she said yes, she just said the wrong thing and they put my sauce on the fish and said hopefully I would like it!! Also, my rice was not served with my entrée until everyone else was about half way through their meal. I wish I had a picture of how squished we all were at the table, it was ridiculous. And to top it off, there were only about 6 other tables in the restaurant the entire time we were there. The 3 tables around us sat empty the entire time, yet the manager could not "waste" one of them on us. Would have given 4 stars for the food, but when your entrée cost $25 and a glass of wine cost $13, I expect to be taken care of as well. We will definitely not go back here for our group nights out.

Sushi was just average, guess my expectations were a bit too high, I forgot this was sushi in Tyler... Everyone was really nice and friendly but I went there for sushi and it didn't do it for me. Had three different rolls including two of their house special rolls. They were also out of albacore tuna since I wanted a couple pieces on the side. Good wine selection.
(2)Yaziri O.
This is a great sushi place that opened behind the Lowe's/Best Buy shopping center. The ingredients are very fresh. The price for the portions is a bit high but with the limited selection (although it is growing in the area) they can afford to do this. The atmosphere is great. I've gone with just a party of 2 and twice again with large parties. Open for lunch! :)

Great fast service. Very friendly and attentive staff. Delicious food. Veggie tempura is amazing. Not listed on their lunch menu, but they will make it if you ask (: the Houston roll was delicious! Would definitely come back.

Love the food, love the atmosphere! A favorite place to hand with friends and eat well! Also, portions are generous, one dinner is enough for 2.

Louisiana roll and lettuce wraps are amazing!

Service - our server was missing in action, almost nonexistent, very frustrating. Food - I ordered the Mongolian Beef. The presentation was good and the brown sauce was good. The beef was very strange - it was spongy and very chewy - over processed or something - not like any beef I've ever eaten- wouldnt order again. Ambiance - OK but very loud.

I hate to write this. Sometimes, as a middle school teacher, you have to tell a kid that "It's just not good enough." Which is true. It might be good now. It might be good three years from now. But it's not good enough. That's sort of like Wasabi. This sushi place in Tyler seems to be the only place stylized around sushi. Not to say that there aren't other places that serve it, but this place wants it as an identity. It might be good for now. But a few years from now, after others catch on? Not good enough.

I'm in town on business and found this restaurant on yelp. I was not disappointed! I ordered the veggie roll and their signature Tyler TX roll. Both were large and delicious and the presentation was lovely. My waiter was very attentive without being annoying. The restaurant is undergoing renovation and that's the only reason I'm giving four stars. I would go back to Wasabi in a heartbeat.

Friday night- crowded of course. Seating time was reasonable but wait for service and drinks was too long. Drinks were mixed-up on arrival. Not a good start... Mrs. Pacman roll for appetizer. Kung-Pao chicken and Sesame chicken for main dishes. Overall they were good. Entrees were uniformly a little too sweet for me but had good flavor. Service was poor overall however. (We'll blame it on a waiter younger than some t-shirts I own.) He did take off the cost of a beverage for the excessive wait. Menu prices are comparable to similar restaurants in Tyler.

We went here for lunch today and each ordered one roll - at first I was worried that it wouldn't be enough, but wow were those rolls big! We all shared a bit and every roll I had tasted delicious!! They also had some creative and local rolls that looked amazing on paper. The service was prompt and friendly and I have nothing at all to complain about. I will most certainly return if ever in the area again!

I love this place! I have been with kids and without and everytime received excellent customer service and great food! There is always a roll of the day for 9$ which is cool for those willing to venture out and try new things. The Lobster Crunch is my favorite roll and the pac man is amazing. Neither taste fish and both have a semi sweet drizzle over them. The louisiana is good for those who like a little spice and the cucumber rolls are great for those atkis dieters;) They also have a paper wrap that is no carb, but there are only a few that are aware of that option. Love the chill ambiance.

Good Sushi for Tyler. When my roll came out it wasn't tightly wrapped so it fell apart easily. Taste was good, I just had to demonstrate some skills with the chopsticks. It was normal pricing for quality sushi. Cute and friendly waitstaff.

It's a decent (though very suburban) sushi menu and an excellent cocktail menu. Once you get to the table, service is pretty good. Twice, they have been out of an item and made a substitution without asking/telling us. The hostesses seem to think they are running the velvet rope at a club...which is both hilarious and annoying.

Great place for sushi in Tyler. My personal favorite in east Texas. Get the Tyler Texas roll and you'll be hooked.

My friend and I tried this for lunch last week. It had been recommended by others. The server was great, offering suggestions that she likes since we had never been before. We started with some edamame, a little under seasoned, but good. Then opted for the roll of the day special, Houston roll, and the Louisiana roll. Food arrived quickly with the usual accompaniments. Both were fresh and tasty, but the Louisiana far surpassed the Houston in flavor. It needed nothing extra while I put all the extras on the Houston roll. Overall pretty good though.

I used to love Wasabi, but lately it has been a disappointment. On my latest trip they were out of the first two wines I ordered. With nothing in stock I wanted, I ordered unsweetened tea. I received sweet tea. Then the appetizer of egg rolls arrived and was lukewarm on the outside and ice cold in the middle. The table wobbled and we had to ask twice to have it fixed. At that point I was fed up and we left.

I'm not going to say the sushi is bad, it just isn't sushi as we know it. We stopped in to check this new place out last week and left disappointed. Not the decor, it is a quite nice looking place with nice looking wait people. It's the Chinese sushi that is the problem. We sat at the bar planning on having an early-bird meal from the "specials" menu. We ordered three different rolls as well as the oysters (on the half shell??). I had a nice Alaskan Brown on tap, the wife had some sweet drink that was a bit much for me. The first thing I noticed was "where's the fish"?. The sushi rolls were large and rich looking but on close inspection I could see NO fish. We ordered Yellow Tail, Hamachi and Unagi and all I saw that might resemble fish was a small, head-of-a-nail sized speck of mush that might have been ground up fish with someting else. Way too much rice! We are use to eating fish sushi, not Cali rolls, tempura rolls and the like, not here... The oysters topped off the disappointment. Billed as Oysters On the Half-Shell on the special's menu, they came on a shell, but steamed and spoiled with a dollop of black bean crud and wicked hot hallos. Worse oysters I have ever eaten, hands down. Not that we expected a New Orleans treat, but quarter sized oysters treated so badly was not the best way to end the meal. We may come back later and see if there is improvement toward our taste, they do say on their web side that a fresh fish menu is on the way. Meanwhile, I guess it's still "make the trip to Dallas" when we get the sushi craving. It was a $62 dollar lesson!

It's a Chinese restaurant trying to be Japanese. The sushi was good except for the CA roll. My 12 yr. old usually orders that but didn't like their version. I expected more Japanese dishes but the menu was full of Chinese dishes. If I'm craving for Chinese food this is a good place to go to. The sushi was also better than Shogun's. For a party of 3 we spent close to $70 for lunch.

i was very disappointed going here, I was very surprise they do not have udon noodles, every japanese restaurant have it, it's definitely not authentic to me, but i can understand why since its in Tyler. I ordered some rolls, wasn't really that great, had a waitress who keeps dropping and bumping into things, I'm glad my food wasn't on the floor. Bad experience for me here for the first time, came here because it was a walking distance to my hotel. I don't understand why it's so great here.

I love WASABI! The ambiance and quality of food are probably the best in Tyler for a sushi place. The staff are friendly and professional. The food is comparable to other big city sushi joints. The WASABI roll is one of my favorites. They also have great pot stickers. Out of at least 3 visits, I have no complaints thus far. I recommend sitting in the bar- very relaxing. Dress up or go casual.

Yum! Snow white roll, Tyler tx roll... So good! Pot stickers. Yum. Mixologist... Great concoctions? Actually yes!! If you can get it! Sadly I'd give it five stars if it didn't take so long every time you order a drink but nevertheless .. Totally worth going and enjoying! Just don't be in a hurry!

Really Good Sushi, some of the best in Tyler but, to be honest, there are only probably 4 legitimate sushi places in town. The Tyler TX, Wasabi, and Dallas Maverick rolls are my favorites at the restaurant. Only complaint is that the portions for edamame are somewhat tiny. I don't need a giant plateful, but for around $5 I would expect a little more.

Great atmosphere and top notch service. Darcy was our server and she was on track with a lovely personality and a thorough knowledge of both the bar and food items. Her recommendations were perfect. We enjoyed items from both the sushi bar and the hot food appetizer section. All selections were delicious, well prepared, and nicely presented. Try one of their Saki based Mojitos and specialty sushi rolls.

We all had a really great dinner ...........The staff @ The Rage Salon ... Happy Birthday Maggie

Late lunch (1:36pm) and still the place was busy...for such a difficult location that is amazing. Our wait person Mayela was charming and knowledgeable. The food was great! I am not a bait guy so I had Hot and Sour Soup, Spring Rolls and Kung-Pao-Chicken....it was great....would have liked some fried noodles to go with it...but heck...it worked. Delivery to the table was a little slow, but who cares when the food is good.

We had lunch at Wasabi today. There were three of us. My husband and daughter both ordered sushi - the "Houston," the Dragon, the Hawaiian, and the Samurai. We ordered the jalapeño poppers for an appetizer, and they both had the seaweed salad. I had the Mandarin Kung Pao Chicken with fried rice. The Houston and the Hawaiian were their favorites! The Samurai came in a close third while the Dragon was their least favorite. The food was all good. I thought the waiter must have forgotten my order as he offered me a small plate for the sushi. My meal did not come out until my husband and daughter were almost finished eating. But it was delicious.

Lets start with the staff... They are absolutely great! The hostess made my friend and I very comfortable and our wait for out table enjoyable. The atmosphere is great with your choices of the bar area, patio, or in the main area. The server that we received(Matt) was probably the best I've ever had at any eatery. The Texas Ranger rolls are absolutely delicious and I mongolian flare beef which was exceptional.

I think the sushi gods have it out for me. In Tyler for work and decided to try again for a sushi meal. Nice place and pretty classy inside. BUT, they put me at a table, brought me a glass of tea and then over 15 minutes later my waitress met me at the door to say she had gotten "tied up in the back" and was not able to come back to take my order. What the heck is it with sushi places outside Austin that I can't place an order?? Guess I will just have to keep looking.
