Kebab-N-Kurry Indian Restaurant Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Exterior, strip mall-esque, disappointing and made me weary to go in . Inside: a transformation, music, ambiance , indian styling, but a low hanging roof, which made the area feel cramped. initial service: prompt, available and willing. The younger waiter I think had more charm to him than his older counterpart. buffet layout: cramped, small, but high quality selection. The food was good quality, and while I like the spicy stuff I was there with my wife and my son and they appreciated the fact that most of it was mild. tikki massala, pakora, palak, chick peas, gulab jamuns, naan, just of the top of my head. Food was good to great, some of the meats I feel could have been cooked longer in their sauce or better seasoned. Overall a very enjoyable experience, will go again.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant and it is the one I judge other Indian restaurants by, food-wise. I have been here at least 10 times over the last 3 years and I have brought Indian friends here to eat who came in skeptical and then took a card when they left. On the latest trip, I brought 3 friends - two of whom were from California and had high expectations. Kebab-N-Kurry did not let us down. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was excellent and there was plenty of it, and we were able to talk and have a very nice time together. I will continue to come back to this restaurant and bring people with me every time.

For those of you that have followed my reviews, you'll already know that this is a year of firsts for me. I've had several just in the last 5 months or so since I started dating my SO...and hanging out so much with Jenn C. and Aimee! ;-) So he suggested Indian food for the second time....we didn't make it the first time because I wasn't able to eat. So anyway, since I'm so green about these new things...I asked my good friends Aimee and Crys to help me out with a menu selection before we headed to eat there. Aimee said Chicken Tikka Masala with Naan bread. He ordered it medium, which I was very thankful for, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I can't say I've been really disappointed in the various places I've been taken to on my year of firsts. I am looking forward to trying this again!

I usually like to see Indian people eating when I eat at an Indian restaurant. Never see any here. The manager yells at the staff constantly which makes me nervous. The have been serving the same watered down dishes on their buffet for years.

Went here once for the lunch buffet. It was OK, but nothing to remember really. Then I went and got takeout. The price was wayyy too high for the quality of food (which was lower than most places I've been to). Go to Taj Mahal, Mumtaz, or Pasand for Indian food.

I love Kebab and Kurry.. The atmosphere is pleasant, the staff is pleasant and the food is so good! I love the Naan, I could get nice and fat on it! Nothing terribly witty to say here, just the honest truth. I've been at dinner and I've been at the lunch buffet. It's also a great place for vegetarians! Two thumbs up.

so one of my friends suggested this place for dinner, and i happily agreed because i love indian food. we were promptly greeted upon walking in, although the restaurant appeared to be somewhat dark. the menu was lengthy, so it took us a while to decide what to get. i ordered the palak paneer, and my friends got the chicken tikka masala. neither of these dishes came with naan, so we had to order that separately ($1.95/piece). i think we got our food in about 15 minutes, not bad. food was tasty but nothing extraordinary. the portions were good for us, i had some left over at the end of the meal. however the food was kinda pricey at $15/person without appetizer or dessert. also, the waiter forgot to bring out my roti and didn't realize it until we were done with our meal, at which point i just cancelled my order. not the best indian food experience in my opinion, i drove 25 minutes to get to this place and was disappointed. i think i'll stick with the indian places in irving and carrollton for now.

Been going here for years. Great staff, small restaurant, so intimate.... food is really good. Wish it was not on a major highway. But, I love it!

the food is good - but the location and interior are odd! they have a very extensive menu - lots of choices. but i agree with the other poster who said its not spicy enough - i dont eat espeically hot and i found their hot to be underwhelming. and the quality/taste of their naan/alu paratha were disapointing. but they are BYOB, which is a huge plus if we ever come back. interior was depressing...all dark and not a single person inside except for us. the waiter was new ---to waiting! and was just a mess. but very forgivable.

Low grade food quality and taste. Limited items for $9.95 lunch buffet, charged $3.95 for salt lassi. Would not go again, and would not recommend to my friends and family.

The original owner(s) of India Palace (on Forest Ln & Preston Rd) also started Kebab-N-Kurry in 1981, more than a quarter century ago. India Palace was sold to new ownership, but Kebab-N-Kurry remains in founding hands. So says a lady at work who has been in this area forever. I don't know if that story is true, but it's believable because Kebab-N-Kurry is a junior version of India Palace. We were greeted by the Sikh owner or manager, complete with turban, who visibly micromanages his restaurant. My Indian co-worker confirmed his Northern Indian roots, and the food is also considered Northern in style, which is what most people are probably familiar with.

I can't put my finger on what it is about this place that I liked so much, but I think it's the people. I like that when I walk in, the first thing I see is the owner and/or manager smiling and saying, "welcome back." There's a sincerity about this guy that I appreciate: a feeling that he is genuinely excited by and thankful for each customer that comes in. There was a small mix-up with my takeout order that resulted in my getting the wrong food, but the restaurant was very apologetic and quick to handle the issue. I had my correct food shortly thereafter, in addition to a couple free dishes that were now mine to keep due to their mistake. It's not a great thing to have had happen, but they were very apologetic and it's understandable that mistakes like these can happen once in a while. The food was really nice. The alu paratha was nice, and it also reheats in the toaster really well after being stuck in my fridge for a few hours. We also had a kadhai paneer and a bhuna gosht, both of which came out great. I eat Indian food frequently and found the quality to be comparable to what I would expect at a nice Indian restaurant. Overall the experience didn't disappoint and I do think K&K is worth a visit.

Stopped by to check out the lunch buffet (based on recommendation by a friend). The price of the lunch buffet ($10.99) was not posted anywhere. The buffet was supposed to run until 2:00pm. Arrived a little after 1pm. It took a few minutes to be seated at a clean table, which was surprising because the place was mostly empty. Selection: Buffet selection is smaller than other Indian buffets in the area. Food was almost gone and not replenished. There was no more veg biryani left when I went back for my 2nd plate and they ran out of naan soon after. Also, there was no gulab jamun available from the dessert selection. Upon inquiry the owner offered to replenish the gulab jamun (but with 5-7 minute wait time). Unfortunately didn't have time to wait for it. Taste: Dishes were of ok quality - some hit/miss - but nothing to rave about. Chicken tandoori was a bit dry, but the chicken tikka masala was tender and flavorful. They serve beef (which is a bit uncommon for an Indian place) and the beef vindaloo was tasty. Service: A bit slow and lacking. Repeatedly had to ask server for water refills. Also noticed the table beside me didn't get drinks until after they started their meal. Friendly owner stopped by to check-in on the tables individually at end of meal. Noticed a group come in close to 2pm and he offered to replenish some dishes for them. Would have appreciated if the buffet had just been replenished earlier! Bottom Line: Decent food for value, but service and selection was a bit lacking. Unsure if would return.

I had Samosas, Shrimp Korma, Garlic Naan, Kheer Badami, & Kashmiri hot tea. I now have another favorite hole in the wall, mom&pop owned place to eat! They've been in business for 34 yrs! Very personable! Many returning locals came in to eat while we were there. This indicates how people respect the establishment, owners, & food! The weather was horrible outside, yet this place was packed! I now have another favorite neighborhood, hole-in-the-wall, mom&pop owned, place to eat! Good to know: It's nothing fancy at all, yet you'll feel comfortable in a suit, casual or just comfy. They have a daily buffet. Open back for dinner at 5:30 & honor BYOB. Menu is on website to become familiar with before going. They have 3 levels of hot. Mild, medium or hot. Be sure to tell them your tolerance. My shrimp korma was medium & I wanted it a little hotter. I think my comfort zone will be somewhere in the middle of med to hot. The Kashmiri tea is only grown in one region of the world & it was divine in aroma & taste. Perfect for the dessert or anytime really! When I asked for cream, our waiter was kind enough to tell me it would separate in the tea. This saved me from having a ruined cup of heaven! Go for the food. Keep going back because of the ambience, atmosphere & warm feelings you'll develop for adopting it as one of your favs. g

This place is good, but grossly overpriced IMHO. Had a sudden craving for some Indian food, so I thought I would give this place a shot. I glanced over the menu and settled on the Chicken Anarkali. I did like that you get the option for mild, medium, or hot, because not all of my friends can handle the heat. Since I was by myself though, I got the hot. The dish is chicken thigh meat served in a tradional curry sauce. It had good flavor and just the right amount of spice that I am looking for in Indian food. It also comes with bismati rice. If I were just rating on the food and service, this place gets an easy 4 stars. But knowing how restaurants work (when it comes to food costs and what price to charge), I just thought $13.95 was a little steep for chicken thigh meat and rice. For that reason, I give it three stars, and I probably would not return, as I know other places in the area where I can get the same quality of food for a lot less.

Always a favorite, this wonderful neighborhood spot serves some of the best Indian food around. Palak paneer, Boti Masala and assorted breads were among my favorites on this visit. The gracious owner, AJ, is often on hand to greet guests, and is always helpful with decisions regarding menu choices. I love coming for the lunch buffet, too!

worst service .we waited for 45 minutes and got cold food don't recommend anybody to go there our white fellows doesn't know about Indian and Pakistani taste so they go there they should go and try some other restaurants and see the difference. Worst food in experience ever.....

This has been a favorite lunch location of mine for almost a decade. It's nothing fancy, but the food is oh so good and authentic. I was originally introduced to K-n-K, by a friend from India. When we asked him where Indians eat he took a group of us here. I've been hooked ever since. I have no idea what they put in the food, but I like the rice and the nice flavors. - Eric

Great Sunday lunch buffet!!! Awesome for those who have never had Indian before, because everything is represented very well. Just make sure you get there RIGHT when it opens, when the mega church lets out, this place gets swamped! For good reason, it's delicious.

The food here is great! I am from SF and have had a lot of delusions, authentic Indian food. I was nervous about coming here at first because it was off the highway, but I was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The owner told us they make EVERYTHING in house (except for the ice cream) and it showed. A+++++

I'm updating my previous review, and adding a couple of stars to this place. After eating there a few more times, I've really grown to appreciate some of their buffet items, particularly the chana masala, and the malai kofta. Overall, the spicy level is slightly higher than that of the timid buffets which seem de rigueur in Indian buffets designed for the American palate.. Either they've improved, or perhaps I just went on off days, before...but the freshness of the buffet is satisfactory, and the service is friendly and attentive. They also have some good naan variations, as well as roti that is prepared thin, as I like it. It's still a dollar or two higher than the price of some other buffets in the area, but that doesn't bother me. I've added Kebab-N-Kurry to my regular rotation of Indian buffets. :)

Love almost everything about this place. I enjoy coming here to relax with a cup of Kashmiri tea after some great Naan and Kebabs! Decor a bit on the dated side, but dont let that throw you off from coming in for great food. Owner is very friendly and loves to discuss his place, the food, and community!

No better Indian food ! I'm such a fan of this place! I have it eat here when I'm in Dallas . Don't let the storefront fool you. I've eaten a lot of places that may seem classier I'm appearance, but their dishes are exquisite.

We went here on the recommendation of an acquaintance. My husband has only recently started eating Indian food and had a lot of questions about the food, preparation, etc. The owner really took the time to patiently explain everything and our server was attentive. Once the food arrived (naan and raita to start, lamb vindaloo and a chicken/lentil combo), we were impressed! Everything was fantastic and flavorful. We loved our first experience here and will be coming back!

I went there with a couple of friends. Friendly service, great menu and on top of it great food. My next table were celebrating an anniversary and it was nice to see that the owners knew them all. It was a packed restaurant and many customers were coming in to pickup their orders. We ordered Lamb Samosa, Chicken tikki masala, Shrimp Korma, Murg Mussalalm and the nan bread. It was a fantastic experience. The server was very attentive and came to check if we were doing OK. To finish the meal we ordered their Kashmere tea, out of this world. Though a small place but attentive service, warm and nice ambience and great food. We will make it our regular like many others.

We went with the expectation of getting to go biryani. Well not exactly the place for it ... you'd rather dine in and make a full meal. We ordered chicken and lamb. The biryni can serve two if youre not very big eaters. The lamb was good the chiken was ok. I may go there again.... but I'll continue to got go Al markarz for biryani (oh they were out of it btw)

This place is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the Dallas area. It's a small family owned restaurant thats been around since the 80s. I highly recommend coming in for the lunch buffet. They basically have their entire menu out on the buffet.. Naan, sauces, rice dishes, chicken tikka masala, chicken tandoori, soup, salad, rice pudding, etc.. And it's all delicious!!

  • Cynthia P.

I really miss this place since I moved to Houston. I come visit Kebab-N-Kurry every chance I get when I visit Dallas. The food is so good!!! I've been fortunate enough to visit India and this is one of the few restaurants I've been to in the DFW area that actually has AUTHENTIC Indian cuisine. Staff is friendly, atmosphere is great. I highly recommend the buffet here, too. Is it worth the trip from Houston? Absolutely!! ;)

The menu is very complete offering a wide choice of Indian dishes. I was there for dinner, and it was a tad crowded. Waiting is no problem, however there is no place to wait. The owner greeted us and explained they were unusually busy. Still, it was awkward just standing right in the dining room to wait for a table. Had the owner not been so apologetic and welcoming, I might not have waited. He not only greeted us, but gave recommendations, talk to me about how they prepare certain dishes, and just gave the restaurant personality. The rest of the staff was less attentive, but again they were slammed. The food was of average or slightly above average quality. The chicken chaat was especially good. We had several tandoori items, all were quite good with good quality meats. The meats were great, but less spice was used than I'm accustomed to. Note it was lack of spice not heat I'm referring too. The nice cuts of meats made this more than acceptable however. There are many vegetarian dishes as well. I tried the chana masala. I opted for mild, and it was excellent. However, I think I could have gone medium and been find as the mild was truly very mild. The taste was excellent though. Very fresh ingredients were used in everything. The special house tea with almonds is a treat. I don't particularly go for tea, but this was a recommendation given by the owner. He assured me if I didn't find it as special as he described it he would not change. It was as good as he described, and they kept it coming. Once the crowd died down, it was quiet and calm. The staff was hard working and did an admirable job cleaning up after the crowd while attending to the remaining tables. With such a small staff, this was impressive. Again, the owner is part of the appeal of this place. The food is generally average for an Indian place in this price range and area. However, his obvious enjoyment in seeing customers pleased was refreshing and added to the experience.

Can't say ENOUGH about this lovely restaurant! Not only is the food wonderful, & service is impeccable, but it is a family run business...I don't think we have ever been when either the very hospitable owner or his wife has been there to greet us. They are warm, generous people & welcome you in like you are in their home. Go for the excellent samosas & tikka masala & BYOB!

It's a small restaurant about the size of two bedrooms, run by a jolly Sikh looking fellow. The inside is clean and well maintained, if not a little cramped. The food is just really bland and average.

Oh woah is me....woah is me. I remember coming here when I was a kid. The buffet was a bountiful, the wine was flowing, and the belly dancers shook the night away. Flash forward 20 years later, and this is NOT what I remembered. Pretty average Indian buffet. This makes me so sad to write...cause it was my favorite as a child... :( :( :( :( :(

I went here once and that was enough. An Indian place with bad curry is an Indian place you don't want to go to. Need I say more? Well I feel that I have to. The service was slow unfriendly and just south of rude. How they are still open is a mystery to me. Stay away is all I can say!

Way Past It's Prime Many years ago this might have been the place to go but now it feels like an Americanized Indian food relic of the past. There are decent items on the menu and the buffet is passable but with so many more authentic and better choices nearby, Kebab-N-Kurry feels like you are settling for less. BYOB is good but that is an option at many Indian restaurants. Look around, there is better.

This place is excellent. Honestly - solid, non-intrusive service and the buffets are superb. I don't understand the low reviews - not at all. I've eaten a lot of Indian food in this town.

It is a decent restaurant and has several items in there, the soup is good, the garbanzo beans on the hot stone is also good. Reasonably decent food for decent price.

Went in this week for a late lunch (around 1pm) and there were just 2 other tables occupied. Only one server taking care of the entire restaurant. Fine since its buffet, didn't care much. But main reasons for giving low star to this place 1. Stale food: Yes, all four in our group (all Indians) instantly knew 2 of the items were Stale right after the first bite. This was pointed out to the Owner Lady, she tasted it, agreed with us and yet the dishes were not removed from the Buffet 2. Plates: There were no plates at the buffet table and we had to wait for over 10 minutes before they got some clean ones. 3. Taste: All dishes were pretty bland IMO. No salt or basic spice that is required for Indian cuisine, except for the daal (lentils) which was quite good. So pretty much the only thing edible was rice and daal. There are a lot of Indian places that serve good quality food for much less price. I know for sure this was my last time here.

Very good Indian food. Came with a large group (20+) and they were very sweet and accommodating... the food took a LONG time, but they gave us some free appetizers. Will definitely go back!

My first visit in a number of years and it was a mixed bag. Mint & tamarind chutneys are right on. I asked for a glass of water with a straw. I had to ask for a straw 3 times until I got one. It was wrongly assumed I had come for the buffet, so I sat for 8 minutes before I got eye contact and could get a menu. I ordered lamb samosas and my favorite Indian dish, Aloo Baigan. The samosas were the best I've ever had, but the Aloo Baigan was a disappointment. I've been here before many times, but it's been a few years as I had moved away from the area. The Aloo Baigan was so disappointing. I had remembered this location and looked it up on Google Maps on my iPhone so I could get the phone number and call ahead to see if they were open and if they sold Aloo Baigan. Not all restaurants make it and some who used to don't always have eggplant on hand. The eggplant in this dish was completely smothered and saturated in butter. I could taste ghee more than eggplant. Potatoes well cooked & tasty, and the appearance & texture of eggplant were perfect, but the flavor suffers a horrible injustice by the baptism by butter. A real shame. If this is the best they can do with Aloo Baigan, they should have mercy on the dish and not serve it.

They offer a lot of variety, from meats to seafood to vegetaarian dishes, so there is something for everyone. I tried the Lamb Vindaloo, a traditionally extra spicy dish with the kind of flavors that catch up with you later: KnK's version was tasty but not spicy and for some reason contained chunks of potato along with the Lamb. It was a decent size so I ate it as a soup (skipped the rice). I got to sample some of their grilled meats offerings which were better: with Kebab in their name I guess that's the option to go for here.

Another case where the five star scale is too limiting; I'm calling this 2.5 stars, but I'm sorry, I can't round up. From the reviews, I think this place may be a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde thing (lunch vs. dinner). I've only been here twice, both times at lunch, and that's what my review is based on. The buffet is small, but has decent variety. Unfortunately, as others have said, the food is a little blah. When the vindaloo is the same heat level as the tikka masala, something's wrong. I also echo the "WTF is potato doing in chicken tikka masala" sentiment; that was odd. None of the dishes really stood out to me, yet none were terrible, either. They just kind of blended together, both on the plate in in my mind. The naan was OK, but not great. They did have some naan that had a bit of filling (peas and something else); that was one of the best "dishes" (not sure what that says about the place). Service was decent until it came time for the checks; they were a bit slow with these, and people were streaming in, waiting for tables, and if they'd have just brought us our checks faster, our party of seven would have vacated much quicker. Maybe I'll try dinner here sometime, but both of my lunch experiences (at least a year or more apart) were just "meh".

One of the worst Indian food places I've tried. The buffett is all stale & bland. Not a single item on the buffett was worth a second serving. Avoid it at all costs. Truly a disgrace to its namesake in Santa Clara, CA.

  • Elaine C.

KNK's food is good. The buffet selection is not expansive as other Indian buffet restaurants, but the offerings are good. The curry was kind of thinned out when I visited the place. I think it was not a curry day. I was hoping for some spicy Indian dishes. However, the vegetable fritter, tomato soup, and rice pudding were delicious. For the price I paid for the buffet, I would've dined at another restaurant down the street. The place is small, and the service is good.

We love Indian food, we love that this place is located near our 'hood. The food is actually pretty great, but if you order out, be prepared to pay way more than you think you should for the amount of food you get.

One of my favorites! The proprietor wears a deep red turban and takes a very hands on approach. Excellent cuisine. I've never been disappointed. Pride of preparation is evident. Atmosphere and surroundings are minimal in keeping with strip center location, but prices are most reasonable and the is no corkage fee. Want plush surroundings? Go to Addison and pay lots more!

While visiting the Dallas area to see family my father took me here for lunch today. Before going I checked out Yelp to see what everyone had to say about the place and I found it odd that there was such a range of grading from extreme highs to the lowest of lows. Usually I throw out the lows and the highs assuming they might be biased and looked from there. Not being a Indian food aficionado I really don't know authentic from non-authentic Indian food. That being said, I shall proceed. We walked in for the lunch buffet and were quickly seated. Keeping in mind earlier posts about critters scurrying across tables and floors I was expecting to see some really hideous carpet and a somewhat dark, dinghy place. To the contrary the business appeared pretty clean to me. Especially the carpet considering it is a restaurant. The food was fresh, hot and tasty. I sampled just about everything except for the salad. Why have salad when I can have that everyday! Our server, allthough quiet was on top of things and kept our iced teas full. He wasn't a real talkative guy but I think that was because the restaurant as a whole is pretty quite and I think he was trying to be as incognito as possible to not upset the tranquil atmosphere. The bill for my dad and I came to $26 which was acceptable to me considering it was a "stuff your face" buffet. Honestly, I would come back again.

Even though because I'm indian I have high standards for Indian food, I try to be fair in judging the quality of Indian food at restaurants. In the case of Kebab n' Kurry...there are some things that I just won't stand for. Presenting a dish that is non-authentic is one thing, but outright deception is quite another. I explain further below... I arrived around lunch time for Father's Day. The restaurant is part of small strip and is small in itself. It was clean and well kept, and there seemed to be enough staff. Since it was lunch, a buffet was on the menu. On the buffet were your typical dishes of vegetables, and chicken curries, naan etc. When I arrived at the chicken tikka masala serving dish my eyes lit up (my fav). You can imagine my disappointment when I got back to my seat and forked my first piece of chicken drenched in masala curry to find out it was a POTATO. I was like...wait a sec... at which point I forked another chicken piece to AGAIN find a POTATO. First of all, what in the HELL are potatoes doing in chicken tikka masala? This was an obvious cheap attempt to cut costs and deceive patrons. That alone was enough to leave a bad taste in my mouth. Then I looked at the buffet and noticed that they had Palak ...but WITHOUT paneer... WHAT!?!??! I've never seen this before... hence, another cheap attempt to cut costs. To top it all off, when my Father (on Father's Day) asked for hot naan to be brought to the table (since buffet naan typically becomes chewy or stale) the head waiter/manager/host/whatever smiled and said, "There is fresh naan always coming to the buffet." No buddy. You're the host...get up off your @ss and get my dad some freakin' naan before I launch a chicken tikka(potato) in your grill. Some may disagree and say "it's a buffet so don't expect that much." I apologize, but specific social customs have already been established by hundreds of Indian restaurants in this country. Cater to different demographics for all I care...no need to be authentic. But DO NOT be cheap, fake and deceptive. The owner of this place also owns India West in Addison which was exceptional for dinner (not sure of buffet). Next time I visit, I will definitely let him know (in case he is un-aware) of what's going on in Richardson.

I am a bit surprised at the low ratings, but it seems that many of these come from the lunch buffet review variety. Anyways, I have never had the lunch buffet at Kebab-N-Kurry but my dinner experience was pretty good. It's a bit of an odd location, being in a strip mall next to a carpet store with limited parking, but I suspect that only can become an issue during the lunch hour rush. The restaurant was pretty nice inside with dim lighting and subtle decorations. The menu was a lot larger than I was expecting, so it took us a while to go through everything and decide on a dish. Because we're on a limited budget, we decided to split a combination plate rather than get two separate dishes. For dinner we split a combination plate of the beef moglai and chicken tikka masala, and we asked for them to be spicy. Although the waiter asked if we REALLY wanted it spicy, I assured him that we like our spicy food spicy and not mild. I guess he didn't think that we could handle their spicy. Anyways, thankfully it came out spicy, otherwise I would've given this place serious demerit. Both dishes were above average as far as Indian food in DFW is concerned, but yes we were also annoyed that we had to pay $2 for nan considering the entrees are $12-20 each. Just give us the darn nan. Service was good on our visit. Not overbearing but made sure our water stayed refilled. Maybe I'll give their lunch buffet a try to see if it's worth the low marks, but as for dinner, count me in.

After over ten years, this is still my wife's and my favorite Indian restaurant in DFW. We only eat dinner there and so can't comment on the lunch buffet, but since we rarely eat buffet food it's not of any consequence to us. The food can take awhile but is always worth the wait, we are always greeted warmly and treated like royalty, and we always over-order so we'll have some to re-heat a day or two later (which frequently gets eaten later that night). We live in Denton, so we don't often find both of us in Dallas in the evening, but when we do, KNK is always at the top of our list of eating choices. Having said all the above, I have to agree that the bathrooms are pretty disgusting, but I've never encountered a sewer smell in the dining room, nor have either my wife nor I gotten even a hint of nausea/vomiting/diarrhea. We usually order from the non-tandoori sections of the menu, owing to the dryness of a couple of tandoori dishes ordered years ago, so I don't feel qualified to discuss those; we've tried everything else and not once been disappointed. We especially like the Chicken Tikka Masala, Molai Kafta Kashmiri, everything Kurried, Jalfrezied, Masala'd or Vindaloo'd, all the paneer dishes and dahi papri for appetizer. Great. Now I'm the victim of a hankerin'.

Meet friends here every couple of weeks for lunch. The food is consistently tasty and satisfies the craving for Indian Food. Not as spicy as most Indian restaurants but for many this would be a good intro to the cusuine. Owner is friendly and waitstaff pretty fast on the tea refills.

Meh on this hole-in-the-wall place! The food on the lunch buffet is painfully average and there isn't as much variety as some other places. There are much better places you can go for the same price that have a nicer atmosphere and more importantly, better food! I've been here once...but never again! Note my experience is from mid-2006.

I was taught growing up that if you don't have anything nice to say that you shouldn't say anything at all. Uh...mom, that does not apply to customer based restaurant reviews. However, I am not gearing up to "slam" this place as there are good aspects here to temper the bad. Let's start with the good, shall we? Good: Small, independently owned. Good: Real - live Indian people running the place. Good: Retro 1980's VFW kind of vibe in the dining room. Good: BYOB Good: Attentive service. Good: Some really tasty food. Good: Menu with pictures. Score. (Pardon the sarcasm). Bad: Bathrooms are dirty. Really dirty. Bad: Some mediocre food. Bad: Sewer smell permeating the dining room. And that is the kicker, the sewer smell. It's been a week and I can still smell it. I don't know...busted pipe? Whatever. For that reason alone I won't be back.

Five stars is generous. Kebab-N-Kurry would only get four by another city's standard, but it's the best Indian restaurant in the Dallas area. My wife and I went to grad school in Cincinnati, and they had great Indian food there. There were at least four really good Indian restaurants that we could walk to from our apartment. That's where I learned to love Indian food. When we moved back to Dallas, I was desperate to find good Indian food, and I just couldn't. I found some that were alright, but none compared to the Indian food we enjoyed in Cincinnati. The only one that comes close is Kebab-N-Kurry. From the outside, you'd never guess it's worth trying; it's in an old strip mall right against the access road. But don't let the appearances fool you - the food is great (for Dallas)... and totally worth driving north of 635. They always bring papadam with two different sauces. It's always nice and crispy and flavorful (the flavor is an acquired taste, though, so don't assume I've crazy if you're trying it for the first time). We always order vegetable samosas to. They are deliciously crispy on the outside and (unlike Clay Pit) very well seasoned. The samosas are also good with either of the sauces on them. Whenever we go (usually in a group of four), we order Malai Kofta Kashmiri and Palak Channa (it's not on the menu, but they're happy to prepare it). We usually get a third dish too, but we rotate that one, so we can try new things. The Malai Kofta has vegetable dumplings in a delicious, nutty cream sauce. The Palak Channa has chickpeas in a spinach sauce with cream and spices. I'd highly recommend both of them to anyone new to Indian cuisine (you can replace the Palak Channa with Palak Panir if you want to try Indian cheese). It's a small family owned place, and the employees are always friendly. It's also BYOB - I rarely drink beer (usually wine instead), but it goes great with Indian food - so bring drinks if you want them.

I've been here several times over the years. I've never had a problem with the taste or quality of the food. It was actually pretty good. The atmosphere kinda reminds me of a circa 1970s living room. What was the one-star kiss of death for me? Last time I went here, a giant ROACH as big as my thumb ran right across my table....OH HELL NO! I got up and left, and haven't been back since. Seriously, that thing looked big enough to carry off a toddler and probably would have fought me for my tandoori chicken and WON.

I really enjoyed this trip! Left lunch feeling completely satisfied. Doesn't happen often, so it's worthy of mention. Food: pretty buffet tucked away in the back corner. Tasty soup reminded me of a more exotic, spicey tomato soup. Everything labeled clearly. I wouldn't mind a few-words explanation of each dish, since there was plenty of space left on each card. Garlic naan was a worthy experiment but falls short. Regular naan is already a perfect bread so I am not surprised at the failure to improve it. Drink: we both had water, but the front door said BYOB. Ambience: Cozy/small, but not crowded (see the note below). Music was spot-on: quiet, interesting "Indian-sounding" music. Too many places blare ugly music. Staff: too many staff humans, and the owner ran them a little too harried for my liking. Since the place is small having 3-4 worker bees on constant patrol made it feel like they were hovering. But plates were removed and glasses refilled very quickly. The owner appears to be rocking the Jeff Goldblum art dude style (to good effect). wifi: not tested. bathroom: not tested. Value: pretty expensive, which pushes the value down. The Sunday buffet was billed at $12 per, which is more than I was comfortable with. I would have been happier at $8. Neighborhood sketch factor: not sketchy, but the area is alongside 75 in a nondescript little strip center. CHL factor: not posted.

FANTASTIC Indian food in a little hole-in-the-wall strip mall. They have a lunch buffet during the week and on weekends, which is very good but I suggest going for dinner and trying their kebabs. They are cooked in the tandoor oven so they are tender and juicy...you couldn't replicate it at home if you tried. I highly recommend the Chicken Reshmi Seekh kebab. I'm sure the other ones are good but I can't seem to stray from that one. Make sure you get a vegetable dish and some naan to accompany your meal. I love the Kabuli naan because it's like the Indian version of cinnamon raisin bread but all the naans are good. Well, except the Keema naan but I haven't liked it at any restaurant...it always tastes/smells like formaldehyde to me and I'm not sure why but I avoid it everywhere. I've tried a multitude of dishes on the menu and have enjoyed every single one. Some dishes take a while to prepare but I make Indian food at home a lot and trust me, it's not easy or fast, so knowing that should help you appreciate it more. The owner is the nicest guy in the world and takes pride in his restaurant. I asked him to show me the tandoor ovens they use for the restaurant (since traditionally they are built into the ground). He explained how hot they have to get (1000 degrees or something) and after closing they turn them down to 500. The extreme heat and cylindrical shape of the oven is what keeps the juices locked into the meat. They also make the naan in these ovens (which is why I can't replicate that either). Note on directions: If you're driving north on 75 (coming from LBJ), exit Arapaho and take the U-turn onto the access road. Stay on the access road and look for Kebab N Kurry on your right in a little strip mall. It's a neon red sign. If you get to Beltline you've gone too far. If you're coming from North 75, exit Arapaho, stay on the access road and look for Kebab N Curry on your right. ENJOY!!!

This used to be our favorite Indian restaurant in town. But it has gone downhill since new ownership took over a few years ago and our last visit ensured that we would never go back. First of all, a small roach scurried across our table. That is a killer in and of itself, but the food has been subpar the last few times we went and this time was the worst. The flavors were not complex the way Indian food should be and the samosa appetizer was boring at best. The service is what I can only describe as weird. The guy tries to be personal and warm but just comes off as creepy and uncomfortable. We will no longer be going back here.

oh lord. dear kebab-n-curry i don't care how palatable your food is. if you're charging $18+ for a platter and we are the only table (and there were only 2 of us, mind you) in the entire restaurant, it is completely unfeasible for us to wait 17 minutes before someone decides to take our order, brings the wrong soup, and dumps an insect into my glass during a water refill. maybe your lunch buffet is worth it, but for the dinner prices you charge and the painfully shoddy service i received, you are the last indian restaurant in dfw i would consider for sustenance.

This lunch buffet was enjoyable and well priced ($12 after tip) but small with only a few entrees available. The chickpea stew dish was fantastic, I couldn't get enough. The chicken tikka masala was above average with great spice. The cilantro chutney was outstanding, especially when paired with the fresh naan. The rice pudding was also fantastic, but the golab jamun was terrible; it tasted like donuts soaked in Aunt Jamima Butter Syrup. Service kept my water filled up, which is the most you can ask for at a buffet. A good place to visit for a quick Indian lunch.

Went to Kebab n Kurry anticipating some decent Indian food to say the least. For starters, the place is shoddy and there is a stale stink around. The ambience is below average and unhygienic to an extent. A complete eye-wash for the name and the accolades its won. The food is flavorless (except for chillies, you can hardly taste other the spices) & the ingredients used are not so fresh. Being a foodie myself, I was greatly disappointed by this place. Not recommended at all.. And oh yeah, its the first place where the feedback wasn't taken with a pinch of salt!!

My opinion in this matter is the only one that counts! I have been an Indian food fanatic since the summer of 97..... I have been to almost every Indian food restaurant in Dallas and other major cities across the USA. This place is excellent! Owner is very courteous and service is good. Food is the best around.... The BEST!!!! Trust me!

I was so excited to try this place after all of the rave reviews. However, I made the mistake of reading the review by "Qwerty P." right before I went there as I was looking up the phone number to find out about their closing time. Of course, I tried to be open minded but I couldn't help but stare at the green and brown sauces to see if there were any floaters. Before I could make a conclusion, my son dug right into the green sauce - oh well! None of are sick this morning so if there were any "natural additives" from being "recycled", I guess they made us stronger ;) As with any first for an ethnic restaurant, we tried our usuals. Naan, chicken tikka masala, the spinach with the cheese cubes and since this was a "kebab" place we tried the mixed grill platter. The entrees were good, nothing special. The grill platter was excellent - there was a wide variety of meats - lamb, chicken, shrimp and a good amount of grilled veggies. Unlike a previous reviewer, I didn't like their rice. It was overcooked (for my liking at least) and it was completely white. I don't know what is authentic, but I have become used to the little seeds and flavorings that other Indian restaurants put in their white rice. The other disappointing thing was the price of naan. We ordered the garlic naan. One order is $3. There was one piece and it was kind of dry. $3 for a piece of naan is just too much. I think I've become spoiled by all of the Indian buffets that I go to that have unlimited naan. Overall, if I were a huge grilled food fan, I'd go back, but since I'm not, I probably won't go back since it was a little on the pricey side unless I have time to stop by for the buffet lunch.

Long time customer (12 years...) who is very DISAPPOINTED. The food has changed in the last year or so. They use to make the best Tikka Masala in the metroplex, but unfortunately it is now a watered down, tasteless mess. I have returned several times only to confirm that things are not the same. The owners are still the same. I think it's just a matter of cutting corners. Even the onion kulcha was greasy last time around and no flavor. We will miss this favorite spot - but won't be back. Bye bye Kebab..... :(

Came here with a group from work for the lunch buffet. They seated us quickly and accommodated our large group without much trouble. The food was all pretty good and they were quick to replace any items that ran out. Everything was fine until it came time to pay. The total was over $10 per person, which seems like too much for a lunch buffet. Further, it took over 20 minutes for us to get our credit cards back after paying, without so much as an update or apology. It was probably just an issue with the machine that was out of their control, but if it's going to take that long, give us an update or something!

Yes, I gave it 4 stars and will admit to not having tried a lot of the Indo-Pak restaurants that are all over the North Dallas area....yet....there's still time! I have been coming to KnK for over 12 years (minus the 3 I was living in the NYC area and Houston). My dad introduced me to it and that might be one of the reasons I still come back as it reminds me of him (God rest his soul). However, I have found, only occasionally, the food to not be up to par heat-wise, although I have never found the quality to be lacking. It is what it is. A small, simple Indian buffet where you can go and satisfy your cravings and urges for curry. Having returned to Texas, this was one of my first stops and I was not disappointed. In fact, I thought it was better than my last visit some 3 years ago. I was also shocked when the owner recognized my mom and I when we entered the restaurant. He let us know about his new place in Addison which we have yet to try. Anyway, as of the last visit, the Chicken Kudai was fantastically spiced, the chickpeas were garlicky/spicy, tikka masala was also spicy (I avoid the potatoes), veggie pakora was fresh and the beef curry was spicy, hot and out of this world with flavor. They also had something I've never had before - they were like little potato dumplings, or gnocchi in a curry gravy - HEAVEN!!! Naan was fresh as always (I love dipping it into the raita) and they always bring me mango chutney when I ask at no charge. It's a nice quick flavorful stop when I'm craving the spices I grew up with when my honorary Indian and Pakistani "Aunties" in Africa would prepare us scrumptious feasts. Oh...and their gulab jamen are the best I've ever eaten. if they sold jilebi there, they'd have a slave for life! One thing I don't like and I find it's common with most Indian restaurants nowadays - samosas are pastry style. I grew up eating samosas wrapped in the thin wrappers (like chinese egg roll wrappers) and have a dislike for the pastry which I find too heavy. I am planning on trying more places in this area now that I'm living here, but KnK will always hold a place in my heart.

Everything I've ever eaten here has been fantastic!! Naan, Pakoras, samosas all great. The service is always good, check is a bit slow sometimes but the food more than makes up for it. The owners are so nice, and always remember us. I would definitly give it a try.

This is probably my favorite Indian restaurant in Dallas. I truly believe rice can make or break a meal (and consqeuently a restaurant) and I have never been disappointed with K&K's- each tender yet firm grain expertly cooked, beautifully separated and tastily spiced. I have enjoyed with more moderation since I learned that heavenly separation of grain comes from ghee, but c'est la vie, non? They have a weekend lunch buffet which I greatly enjoy as I am a fan of small tastes of many things. Knockout dishes include: chana masala, makhani dal, mattar paneer and some spinach dish that's on the buffet but not the menu- just pureed spinach, onion and spices as far as I can tell. The potatoes in the Tikka Masala are amazing, too, and the kofta kashmiri is great, too, although I try to stay away from the sauce too much as I'm not fond of sweet things. I've always had impeccable service.
