Absolutely gorgeous! It's an industrial-style saloon! Cement, exposed pipes, leather, hay-filled plexi tables, lots of metal, white chairs, and lighting in the shape of bull horns - and that's no bull! The place is just beautiful, and certainly a must for hotel guests, but definitely recommend for locals, too. It's a really nice surprise. The bar and restaurant of the NYLO hotel is just another extended into a cool place to hang, whether for breakfast or late-night kibitzing. They have everything you want to drink, and a very pleasing breakfast to dinner menu. Very reasonable prices!! The outdoor pool with fireplace is an amazing spot, too, and just outside the doors of LOCL, outdoor lounge furniture is awesome when the weather is right. For breakfast, I tried several things over a few day stay a the hotel: * Chicken & Waffles ($9) - fantastic chicken and fluffy waff yelp.com/biz_photos/loft… * "Bright Sunny Day" ($8) - eggs, potatoes, bacon, toast yelp.com/biz_photos/loft… * Berries & yogurt ($4) - aplenty at an amazing price (pic n/a) Didn't eat lunch or dinner, but the menu is solid, and again, at very fair prices: * Brisket tacos ($3.50 each) * Caesar salad ($8) * Flatbreads ($10) * Burgers ($10-$12) * Lobster Nachos ($11) * Mussels ($11) * Fish & Chips ($11) * Pan Seared Salmon ($14) * Tenderloin ($16) I understand they've had complaints in the past. Well, I don't know the full history, but the issues have appeared to me to be none and nil. A new restaurant director, hired about 3 months ago, may have been the right hire. Regardless, it's a winner now. Current breakfast menu: yelp.com/biz_photos/loft… Current lunch/dinner menu: yelp.com/biz_photos/loft…

We went there last night for Valentines dinner after making reservations at noon the day before. When we arrived we were told that our name was not on the list but once I showed him the confirmation email he apologized and told us that it doesn't really matter anyways because they were falling behind anyways. We waited while several couples headed to check in and were told the same thing. Our reservation was at 7:45 and at about 9 we finally left after several guest that were leaving told us that the restaurant had run out of most items on the menu. We were also told that apparently the guest at the hotel were given a $75 voucher for the restaurant so they were just calling down and having the food delivered to their door. Very frustrating to say the least.

I've eaten here several times now, but they were purely out of convenience (staying at the hotel for business). Many of the dishes are mediocre at best, with the chicken panini pale in comparison to even something you can get out of the frozen foods section of your grocery store. Best to avoid the breakfast burrito as well - it /really/ upset my stomach; I couldn't finish it. Seemed under cooked to me. The saving grace is the burger, which is able to hold its own. Pro tip: get chips, not fries. The fries are consistently greasy and soggy. The steak is also quite good, but like all the others, it is overpriced and you can find better elsewhere. The food is not the only problem though; the restaurant itself has issues. For one thing, it is very dim at just about all hours of the day. I can hardly make out my own food. The seating is also quite uncomfortable and several tables are wobbly. To pile it on, the service is mediocre. The restaurant doesn't have a host, so you seat yourself. This by itself is not a problem, but this *often* result in waiting 5, 10, or even 20 minutes in one case before a waiter/waitress will serve you. It should be noted that several items shown both on yelp and their website are no longer available on the menus they have in the restaurant, e.g. bibimbap, chicken and waffles, most of the good stuff, frankly. This place is not worth it.

We booked a couple of nights at the NYLO for a mini stay-cation. Let me start by saying the only reason we even considered dinner at the LOCL hotel because of the $25 food credit that came with the room (and couldn't be used on drinks.) So we thought, okay- we will go have dinner. We ordered drinks first- nice beer selection on tap. The hubby was happy with a Stone IPA, and they even had other options. I opted for the NYLO Martini- since the ingredient list was impressive. I will say this martini was one of the best I've ever had. It was sweet, but the Prosecca added that bubbly taste, which was delicious. We decided to start with a few appetizers. I eyed the smoked salmon deviled eggs, and knew I wanted them. When they arrived, I guess I failed to realize that the salmon would be mixed into the deviled egg mixture, and that was kinda blah. It wanted to taste good, but it just tasted like someone drained a can of tuna and mixed it with their amazing deviled egg mixture. It was fishy and strong. Not a fan. And there were raw salmon eggs on top. Pretty to look at, but I didn't love the taste or texture. Next up was the beer battered zucchini sticks. These were okay. The zucchini was steamed or grilled nicely, but absolutely zero seasoning. I would have recommended this rare and inexpensive thing called salt. Apparently they didn't have salt in the kitchen. The tempura batter on the zucchini was probably the tastiest part. The 'spicy' orange colored sauce they served was actually in danger of ruining the awesomeness of the tempura. It has virtually no flavor, and there's no way the word 'spicy' would ever come to mind when eating it. It actually reminded me of a watered down thousand island, if someone had perhaps left out half the ingredients and tried to make it low cal. I might suggest packing some mini ranch cups or salt packets. Or tequila. Apparently if you have enough tequila everything tastes better. Or so I've heard. The last appetizer we tried were the Yuka Fries. I had high hopes, considering the description included the words garlic and lime. They sure were pretty, but my guess is that they were out of both the garlic and the lime that day. They were pretty bland. The ketchup served with them was actually one of the tastier things we had. I thought about ordering a separate dish of that and a straw. Instead- we asked for our check and decided to have a real meal at Goodfellas across the street. So there ya go! Beautiful hotel, but the food is bland. Pretty pics though. By the way, the staff is not very friendly or attentive. I wasn't impressed. We weren't greeted when we walked in, and the bartender seemed annoyed we actually wanted to order food. My recommendation: go to one of the 400 other restaurants on Preston.

In town for a few days, I only had the chance to sample LOCL once as I was out and about most of the time - I tried the chicken panini and pretty impressed with the flavor and substance- and it priced fairly which was a bit of a surprise as hotels usually stick it to ya a bit on their food. The atmosphere obviously matches that of the rest of the hotel which is pretty cool - I would certainly hit this place a couple more times if I were staying here again.
