Greek Cuisine
Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.
Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.
For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Greek cuisine not only tastes good but also help maintain your body in a natural way through healthy diet.

I have never wrote a review on yelp, but I feel this is such a gem in the outskirts of nowhere, it is review worthy. I've lived in Dallas for over 20 years and you would never imagine finding a place like this in Mesquite freaking Texas. No words can express the pure awesome-ness of this place. From the warm welcome and smile to the food, you feel like family. Service: Very friendly. Come in with a friendly smile and an empty stomach, and they'll do you good. Food: This is key. Try everything if you can. From their classic gyro to their souvlaki, it's good. Their baklava and desserts, let's just say 'honey dripping goodness'. Atmosphere: Cute and just right. Some places try to sell you on the flash, but this place. It just feels like home. You walk in and you just know you're going to have a nice Greek homestyle cooked meal. Price: You will not be breaking the bank. A meal comes with, if you get the classic gyro, $7, it comes with dessert! (A Greek honey puff. Comes in 6.) Overall: If you don't go, you'll be losing out on a great gastric experience. --- Heads up: They don't have a soda fountain, but they do serve bottled drinks. And one other thing. No alcohol. A glass of wine or beer would go great. But I think they're working on it. --- Other than that, ENJOY!

Outstanding food and service. Gyros were wonderful and moist. Wow. Don't let the building and construction make you wonder if the place is open, the food makes up for it. Go, just go.

Authentic, non-compromising Greek food. The real deal. You won't regret stopping in here. Don't let the small venue fool you. We were treated and served like royalty. The food is made from scratch and served fresh. You won't find a microwave in this place. We ordered the Dolma, Hummus, The Original Gyro, and had the Honey Puffs for dessert. One word...phenomenal. The owner/head chef even made a special appetizer that's not on the menu and brought it out to us to try. It blew us away. I can't remember the name but it was tomatoes with melted cheese served with pita. Wowzers!!!! Both owners talked to us and we had a great visit. We will most likely be back weekly. What a gem of a find!! Do yourself a favor and go!! You will be a repeat customer for sure.

Pretty darn good! Don't let the outside of the building fool you. The food is well made. I wish the presentation could have been better than the cheap plates, but the quality of food overcame that.
(4)S.E. G.
Excellent service. Excellent food. Great atmosphere. The owners are so polite. Great family restaurant.
(5)Sean M.
Forget about the fast food fried chicken across the street. This place is amazing. Great flavor, tender meat, and wonderfully friendly neighborhood service. If the rest of their menu is anything close to the traditional gyro then this is the spot!!!
(5)Andrew M.
Very authentic Greek food, the atmosphere and food are accurate beyond belief. Honestly this is one of mesquite hidden gems.
(5)Robert R.
All I can say is that it's a must try restaurant. The owners are the most hospitable folks and the food was amazing.
(5)Marc A.
Owner brought out a sample of the meatball soup and it was delicious. Spiced with lemon and mint and a big beef meat ball. The gyro was huge, fresh and hot and the fries were covered with feta cheese. It was worth the 20.minute drive. Going back tomorrow! Update! Back for more.....two words...GREEK BURGER! You will not be disappointed.

Located in a residential neighborhood in Mesquite, inconspicuous in its attraction and by its unusual location, lies the BEST Greek restaurant. If this place was located in Lower Greenville, it would easily be packed and lauded by all the local magazines. I make no hesitation in my claims, because I was shivering with joy like a wet puppy in a thunderstorm. The pita bread is amazing. There is no way for me to describe in totality how wonderful their bread is. Fluffy, moist, and flavorful only begin to scratch the surface of its awesomeness. Their dolmas are pretty legit, although bear in mind they are pretty oily. Their tzatziki sauce was so good, it was gone within three minutes at our table. Their garlic dip was like hummus but super garlicy. I would say the tzatziki is the real winner, but the garlic dip is still a good choice. Now for the entrees. Their gyros are spectacular. They don't spark in your mouth with flavor, but the flavor slowly forms like a slow roasting fire. The meat is moist and not overly greasy. The vegetables are all fresh. My only thing would be remove the fries. Those fries they serve are mediocre and not worth the space in your stomach. The pita bread once again is as amazing as the pita bread they give you for the appetizers. I've been some places where the pita bread differs between the appetizer and the gyro itself, but not here. I also tried the lamb burger, which looks unusual since it's not a bun but pita bread. It didn't matter once I took a bite. The moisture of the meat baffles me! How did he cook the meat so juicy! The burger didn't even need condiments because it was that juicy! It was also a nice break from the traditional burger, since it's a lamb/beef hybrid. I also ordered one skewer of chicken souvlaki. The chicken was also super moist and had a nice grilled flavor. When it came to dessert, I knew based on other yelpers that they give you a free dessert with the entrees usually. What I didn't realize was how good it was! They call them honey drops and they seal the deal on an amazing dining experience. The honey drops have a funnel cake consistency, but are infused and drizzled with honey and no powdered sugar. It was tempting not to ask for more. As you can see, I'm gushing over this place. I normally don't even mention service but this place makes you feel like your family. The owner/chef personally came to my table each time I was there and asked how I enjoyed my meal. By the second time he knew I enjoyed it, and it brought him no bigger joy than to see me smile. Please make a trip out here and support this wonderful restaurant. I drove 20 minutes from my house just to eat here and don't regret it. I have a feeling you won't either once you try this goldmine of a place.

I visited House of Gyros for the first time this week and loved it. Such a great little hole in the wall! The food was great, the servers were very kind and attentive and the restaurant is filled with little funny quotes and pieces. The restaurant itself is small, I'd say only 5-6 small parties can fit in there so probably not the best place to invite a ton of friends over to. Everyone in my party had something different and we all enjoyed our dishes. Definitely stop!

What a phenomenal find! Last night I was craving Greek food but at 2am, your options are quite limited. Today my girlfriend and I went here for our first time and could not of have had a nicer time. The waitress whom appeared to be the owner's wife explained its a very traditional Greek cuisine and then a few minutes later the chef (an older Greek man whom I believe is the owner), bought us out a plate of tomato slices covered in some melted cheese and spices with a few slices of pita - very good! Next we got some hummus and some dolma (stuffed grape leaves) - both were outstanding. I ordered a traditional beef/lamb gyro. Excellent taste! The pita was toasted just right. By this point, out waitress bought us out a sampling of one of their desserts - the honey balls (sorry - don't have the proper Greek name off of the top of my head) which were great. Think of a larger munchkin with cinnamon and honey and sugar. When she asked us if we needed anything else, I couldn't help myself and wanted another gyro to go it tasted so good - was exactly what I wanted. The chef and waitress came over to talk to us and the chef/owner had a huge smile and came over with his hand extended. I personally can't wait to go back for the food, the hospitality, the everything.
(5)Julie H.
Wow! First visit last night and definitely we will keep going back! Appetizer - Dolmas (delicious!). Our main course, we had the grilled Lamb plate and of course, the original Gyro plus a Greek salad and dessert. What a wonderful little find!
(5)Alex H.
This place was awesome! I'm going to keep it plain and simple, you can taste the quality of the food and the effort that is put into preparing it. I tried the lamb chops that were char broiled to perfection, the Greek salad was good, and the meat in the gyro was really tasteful. I've tried other ones in other restaurants but this one does taste authentic. Besides the great quality food, service was really good as well. Everyone seems to have one goal, to keep the customer happy. I hope they stick around for a while, I'm definitely going back. One last thing, the dessert, which I can't remember the name. The puffy bread with honey is the perfect way to end your meal.
(5)Anna S.
My husband says this place is awesome made us feel like when we went to Greece last year, real Greek Food !!!!! The owners are so sweet!!!!!! This food is a must to try!!!!!!
(5)Elizabeth L.
Service was awesome!! Very nice people. Small location but great atmosphere! Food was amazing!! Very refreshing and delightful. Definitely will be returning very soon!!
(5)Meg P.
This place was great. After being pretty disappointed in the restaurant selection around my hotel I decided to drive 10 minutes into Mesquite to try this spot based on Yelp reviews. Well, it paid off for sure. My dinner at this family owned authentic cafe style restaurant was pretty wonderful. The server was the daughter of the chef/owner and not only where they incredibly friendly but they also gave some background to their family and restaurant vision when I asked about a few of the menu items. I'll be in town for a few more days and I'll definitely go back! My only suggestion is that they remove Styrofoam from their establishment!
(4)Jacob M.
Awesome Quality food! Gyro was perfect! Great customer service and very friendly staff! Can't wait to go back!!
(5)Jana B.
The best Greek ever!!! The lamb chops were fabulous and a real treat if you have never tried them before! Everything is super fresh and made from scratch! The owners make you feel like you have enjoyed a quick trip to Greece! A definite place to visit again!
(5)Madison S.
Their food was amazing. Their meatball soup was awesome especially with the mint. It was perfect. Definitely going to be there again.
(5)James F.
What a gem located in Mesquite! In a what seems to be a constant effort to find decent food in the Rockwall area, the family ventured out to Mesquite with a Yelp promise of authentic and delicious Greek food, just 23 minutes from our home. I have to say that Yelp was spot on with the prior reviews. We ordered hummus and tzatziki as appetizers and promptly received a thumbs-up from both my 8 and 4 year-old. For main course, we had a gyro plate, lamb (THE LAMB WAS AMAZING!), chicken souvlaki, and pastitsio. Desert was baklava and loukoumades. Everything (yes, everything!) was absolutely delicious. Not only was the food first rate, but the service was as well. The House of Gyros is an authentic, family-run, very friendly Greek restaurant. All was very enjoyable and the kinds are already talking about returning. Looks like we just found a new regular weekend stop!
(5)Scott S.
I love the small, family atmosphere of this place. The food is legit and filling. I like a lighter breading in my calamari, but they were still delicious. The tomato sauce was excellent. The gyro is perfectly priced and very good. It's nice to have some food that isn't just burgers, pizza or fried chicken in the neighborhood.
(5)Sarah R.
This place has the best Greek food I've ever tasted! Great people running it who made us feel very welcome. We tried the lamb chops and chargrilled chicken, which were both incredible and came with so much food! The honey puffs are also delicious. Give this place a try and you won't be sorry!
(5)Ravneet S.
A family run establishment. Awesome food. Authentic Greek music and vibe. Were greeted with meatballs soup while we were waiting for our food. Lamb Kokomo was delicious and complimentary dessert to top it off. We will be back :-)
(5)Chelsea M.
Thrilled to have found this place! The menu is wonderful and so are the people. We will definitely go back to have more of their meatball soup and gyros. And their feta cheese fries. And their dolma. Okay, so it's all delicious! The absolutely only improvement would be to have real plates and silverware instead of plastic.
(5)Stacy S.
Hubby and I found this place on Yelp and what a wonderful find it was. We got the hummus and two of the original Gyros with two sides of Meatball soup. Everything tasted great and we will definitely be coming back.
(5)RayRay A.
Great Greek food paired with great Greek hospitality. We had gyros and moussaka...best I've had in ages. The owner also has you sample some of his cooking while you wait. We taste tested his meatball soup and lamb yakhni. At the end of our awesome meal we also had complimentary honey puffs for dessert. We were visiting from Chicago and will definitely be back next time we are in town. This place is a hidden gem and needs to be tried!!!
(5)Lena M.
I've never had a gyro with fried potatoes on it. I was a different suprise. Everything was great from the friendly staff to the cute way things are decorated. Don't pass this place up. The sauce was perfect. Just the right amount of flavor. The lamb was cooked properly and just the right texture. Will definitely be back when I am in the area.
(5)Matt R.
This place is phenomenal. Its a family owned placed where you can get great customer service and great food. I went there once and a few days later came back with 10 more people. Its a place you can highly recommend to your friends/family and they won't be dissapointed.
(5)Wes L.
Such a lovely place! The chef sent out complimentary appetizers and dessert! The food is very good too. This is our new spot to dine for Greek food!
(5)K.W. W.
Don't let the look of the place fool you, it is hands down the only Greek place worth going to in Mesquite. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered from them, and they are always so nice and friendly.
(5)Tiffany D.
House of gyro is absolutely delicious and authentic! I loved everything about this place from the food to the wonderful service. I recommend the gyro it's definitely filling. But my favorite has to be the dessert.
(5)Trinia G.
Excellent food, great family business ! Cook came out to check on our meals. Great authentic Greek food. Bravo! Will come again, regularly !!!
(5)Patrick T.
Passion, love, family. Usually words reserved for something else, but, in the case of this hidden gem, accurate. The passion for quality is every bite. The love of the food shines through the staff. As for family, that is exactly how you're treated when you enter the place. The ingredients fresh, the faces smiling, the smells of good food surrounding you from the first minute. This place is home to one of the most amazing burgers I have had the chance to indulge in. The gyro burger. It has their mix of lamb, beef, and the right amount of seasoning. They offer ketchup for you folks who need it, but, I personally prefer the homemade tzatziki sauce. Give this place a shot. It is wonderful. It made my best burgers list.
(5)Ernesto S.
Very good Greek food in the mesquite area with good sized portions and good prices. The original gyro is very tender and flavorful. I have never tried or seen pork gyro at other Greek restaurant so I was curious to try it. It is definitely tasty it is more on the crispy than tender side with a lot of flavor as well. If you want more authentic gyro though stick with the original gyro. For dessert the loukoumades(honey puffs) are delicious they taste like bite sized doughnuts with honey on them . If your looking for greek food I would definitely recommend it
(5)Brad W.
They should change their name to Greek Heaven! I have been to a lot of Greek restaurants including ones on tv but this has to be the best food. The gyros were amazing! The pita bread was perfect , soft and chewy in the middle with crispy edges perfectly brown. The chicken and pork svoulaki was juicy and flavorful. If you can find room for them the honey puff balls are heavenly. The owners are the most corteous and sweet people who came over several times to make sure everything was good. Will be back for sure!!
(5)Iguana M.
My husband, son and I enjoyed our meals thoroughly! The lamb chops were fantastic as well as the large gyros. We also enjoyed meeting Victoria and Vasilli who own the restaurant. The environment is quaint and clean. We will be back more often!!!
(5)Raymond E.
This was my 2nd time eating here. I had the pork gyro, Greek fries, and dolma. Everything tastes homemade and pricing was reasonable. Would highly recommend for those wanting a bite to eat in Mesquite.
(5)Jessica D.
It's really nice to have something different in Mesquite! Great food & the owners are so nice. Everything we've tried here has been delicious!
(5)Mark W.
My wife and I absolutely love The House of Gyros, The owners are awesome and treat you like family. We've tried several things so far on the menu, everything has been awesome!!
(5)Mashona H.
My first time trying a gyro and I was given a sample of the beef a d lamb meat and pork meat. Both are unbelievably tasteful and tender. I also was sampled the meat ball soup which is just as good. Every one here was helpful and polite with my first gyro adventure. For those of you near and far this is a great place to visit. Plus it's nice and cozy.
(4)Jules N.
Some of the best Greek food I've ever had! If I didn't live in NC I'd be all the time! Reasonably priced, good service. Loved it!
(5)Lorie H.
Great food, wonderful service, warm and friendly decor. We had dolmas, the gyro plate and loukoumades & everything was delicious! You should definitely give this place a try!
(5)Kevin P.
Just a small place but the food was outstanding. The owner's wife was our waitress. She was friendly and helpful in her explanation of the food. My wife and I both had the pork and chicken skewers. We enjoyed our appetizer: rice-filled grape leaves. The honey puff dessert was a great end to the meal.
(5)Julie S.
I was blown away by this little spot! Definitely has a mom and pop/family vibe. The open kitchen allows you to smell all of the wonderful aromas and see how tidy it is! On to the the food, The dolma is AMAZING, some of the best I've ever had. It has a lemon sauce and comes with a little pita bread, delicious. The gyros were the star of the show. Packed with meat and it is sure to satisfy. After being blown away by my meal, I look in the bag and she threw in 3 little pieces of fried dough with a yummy cinnamon honey sauce, for free. So glad I found this place and cannot wait to return!
(5)Crystal M.
Good food, good service, but I wish it were slightly cheaper. I got the a gyro (of course) with a side of fries which tasted pretty average, definitely not the best, i personally see it as not worth the calories). The gyro was pretty good though. Would come back
(4)Karen A.
OMG This place is amazing! The food is expertly and authentically prepared and the service is impeccable. It's small and easy to miss but don't! You will most definitely regret not eating here. Greek food at its best!
(5)Cheryl H.
Had the Pastitio, and was very tasty. Had bechamel sauce and tomato sauce and tasted homemade; was delicious. Great little donut thingys for dessert.
(4)Demond S.
Love this place. The food is very good. The best Greek food in the area. Family owned establishment that you'll feel right at home in. I recommend, hmmm...how about EVERYTHING
(5)Joe D.
This place is great! The owners, Bill and Victoria, made us feel right at home. Great service. And then there is the food. My wife had the pork gyro and I had the traditional gyro. One of the very best I have eaten. Be sure to give this place a try.
(5)Tonia V.
Meatball soup is amazing, staff is super friendly, cozy family run place with good size dishes.
(5)Yessenia G.
Really nice people. The lamb chops were great. They gave us a sample of the meatball soup and that was delicious. I will be back again, maybe try the Greek burger.
(5)S W.
One of the best gyro restaurants I've been to! Amazing food and the owners are so nice. Will definitely be going back!
(5)Tiju A.
One of the best family owned places to come eat. I'd recommend this to anyone that loves trying amazing fresh food.
(5)Sarah Z.
What a great place ! Great food! Try the calamari and the Moussaka. A real Greek experience.
(4)Tim M.
One of the best gyros I've had! Great quality and flavorful lamb and beef. The pita bread was delicious. I also had the french fries with feta cheese, which were really good. I had a sample of the meatball soup which was good, but a little salty for my tastes. They also let me try their honey puffs dessert which was delicious. Everyone I encountered was very courteous. I will definitely be back.
(5)Alex K.
This small mom & pop shop is so refreshing! I love the atmosphere/ambience and how friendly the owners and staff are. Their Greek coffee has quite a kick to it. I always judge a Mediterranean place by their gyros, and This is about as authentic as you get with Greek food.
(5)Audrey G.
Authentic Greek food with superb service and excellent food! I ordered the gyro plate - very generous servings! And they served us appetizer soup and dessert!!! I will be back and am sharing this with all my friends!!! They too will love this place!!
(5)Tiffany S.
This is a small place in the middle of Mesquite. The food is so authentic and so delicious. I tried their hummus and it was great! Had their gyro sandwich with Greek fries wow! Wish it was closer to home but it's ok cause I know where it's at! I highly recommend it. The owners are very, very nice and the service is quite wonderful!
(5)Chef J.
Unfortunately this fell short for us. We were excited and eager to try with reading the other reviews. The lamb was good but everything seemed a bit greasy and under flavored.
(3)Nick O.
Best Greek food I've ever had and I've lived in Europe. Seriously. Also the staff are extremely friendly even going as far as to offering us free soup and dessert as it was our first visit. Please go here. Best food you can eat in Mesquite.
(5)Bri A.
The House of Gyro is amazing. The family that owns it is super friendly. We stopped in, excited for something that isn't terrible Cici's, chicken express or sonic in the area. The atmosphere inside is awesome--a little piece of Greece surrounded by pictures of their delicious food. While we waited, we were treated to an on the house sample of their meatball soup--it has rice and lemon and is great! We got a regular gyro and a chicken souvlaki plate. Both super fresh and delicious. We also had a piece of baklava and it was just as good. We will be back here, for sure. They are currently extending their front patio for more seating!
(5)Kristen H.
First of all, the girl at the counter was SO FRIENDLY when I walked in. It's nice to know that these people understand that the entire restaurant experience includes excellent customer service. I ordered hummus with pita and a gyro to go. While waiting for my order, I took a look around the place. It's very small, but appropriately decorated and very cozy. The food was great. The meat on my sandwich was very well seasoned and the tzatziki was very good. The hummus tasted homemade with fresh ingredients. My ONLY hang up is that I saw them pulling pitas from a bag like they were store bought. At an authentic Greek restaurant, I'd think they would make homemade pitas, but the food was awesome regardless. I will be back!
(4)Layton L.
I've lived in Mesquite almost my whole life and when I saw this place being worked on before I left for college, I knew that I'd have to visit as soon I got back. I was NOT disappointed. House of Gyros is fabulous not just because it's small, but because it is TRUE Greek. I've only been three times so far, all spaced apart, and I see no change in the quality. Along with great food, the atmosphere is amazing significantly aided by wonderful customer service. I even saw the cook help a lady deliver her food to the car. I was met by happy faces, and it was obvious that the owners love to serve real Greek food. This place is a must go to for those looking for fabulous food.
(5)Andre M.
Excellent Greek food served with love. The Gyro plate was fantastic! Fresh ingredients for the salad, and the pita was fresh baked and hot. The owners have created their own little piece of happiness with good food and their happy faces. I will be back.
(5)Darin T.
I've been looking for some good Greek food. Gyros have been on my list for a couple of weeks now. Finally found this place, as I travel a lot, and there not to be found around every corner. The staff was extremely friendly. The Gyro plate was generous with a delicious Greek salad and some french fries seasoned, and cooked to perfection. I think I'll be back soon.
(5)Miriam G.
The best Greek food Ive ever had in my life, and I eat a lot of Greek food. Not only is the service great, just thinking about the food makes me want to go back. Come hungry, the meatball soup is amazing, I got the Moussaka and a hummus plate and they gave us honey puffs for dessert, I could eat the honey puffs until I died. I cant wait to go back! Perfect for a family meal!
(5)Robert D.
Some of the best Mediterranean food in Dallas and Mesquite! The owners are GREAT! The man that does all the cooking (owner) is SOOOOO outgoing! He might even let you sample some new recipe he's working on and throw in something extra. He makes you feel like FAMILY. Yes, it IS a hole in the wall, but it's better than some of the fancy places I've been to. Process are reasonable too. You just can't really find a better place. I love it. Just wish it was bigger so I could bring my group!
(5)Grady F.
We finally decided to try this small family owned restaurant hidden away in Mesquite and found a gem. The food is fantastic! Had the Dolma, a Gyro and the honey puffs. All were deliscious and fresh. This place will definitely be on our weekly dinner list! The owners were also super nice. You will not be disappointed.
(5)Jerome Y.
Food is great. The customer service is second to none. Very friendly atmosphere. I am definitely coming back!
(4)Kimberly R.
Love to eat here. Well worth the drive to get the lamb chop plate (best I've ever tasted) the hummus and pita appetizer, and the dessert...yum yum yum. Owners are friendly, and for a brief moment you will feel like you're eating in Greece. The place where you sit and eat is clean and the kitchen is open and clean. We love the food here. Great find!!!
(5)Andy O.
Don't let appearances fool you. This family owned restaurant is a great place to stop by on your lunch break. Staff is very helpful and professional. Food is excellent. Will definitely frequent here more often.
(5)Dani V.
Please read the update at the bottom first. Okay, I love restaurants that are small and often overlooked, what most people think of as dives. However, this little place is your classic mom and pop joint and has that kind of feel that says, "work in progress." That's not a bad thing at all either, because owners have focused on the food and rightly so, because it is very good. They even have a sign on the wall that says they don't use microwaves, so you can tell they are serious about making good food. The restaurant is by no means lavish but that is part of the charm. You can tell that these people are proud of their family heritage. They have a picture of their Yaya (grandmother) on the wall, and I assume it is from her that the recipes come. I walked in the place for the first time and I was warmly greeted by the owners. They asked me if it was my first time and I told them yes. I ordered take out, which was the gyro combination platter. There was a well seasoned feta salad that was delicious, along with some tasty greek fries, tzatziki sauce and of course, a tasty helping of well seasoned lamb and beef served with warm pita bread. Oh, I am so glad I did not go to the Subway nearby on that day, like I originally intended. The woman that took my order threw in an order of free honey puffs which were really good. They are kind of like Mexican sopapillas except that they are not hollow, but are soft pillows of cinnamon goodness covered in honey. I could eat a dozen of those things. I really like that they really care about their customers and gave me a taste of their culture to come back for more. I certainly will comeback, as the smell from the other dishes being prepared smelled so good. I can't wait to try the other dishes. I'll definitely make another trip back. Update: I went back about a week later and ordered more take out for me and my family. I was really disappointed, especially since I bought two of the dinners that featured as cod on the menu. I knew the fish would probably would be frozen but when I opened the styrofoam containers I saw that the fish was nothing more than a large fish stick. My family did not like their meals at all. I was upset that I spent twenty dollars for two dinners which were nothing more than greek salad, pita bread and a large tasteless fish stick. I thought it was too pricey for fish sticks. For myself, I order the spanakopita but I was informed that it wasn't available. Fair enough. So I order the Feta in phyllo dough, which was 7.00 dollars. It wasn't bad, but it was so-so. The couple there were still very warm and welcoming and I don't want to dish on them too badly. Maybe they will read the review here and make some corrections. I mean, there is a chalk board on the wall about how they don't use a microwave but they should understand that people who are expecting authentic Greek food are not looking for fish sticks they can get from the frozen section of the grocers, especially for that price. SO....I am changing my initial review from five to two stars. I admit, this is partly my fault. I should have tried more than one meal before giving a review. Whatever you do, don't order the fish. The other dishes might be better as it seems that other people like the other dishes judging from their reviews. I just felt I had to be honest about my second visit.

Everything I've eaten from this adorable little restaurant has been astounding. I'm fairly certain that in the past month, my family has tried most of the menu, and it's certainly much better than any of the other Greek options out there. I highly recommend the moussaka, chicken kabob, and if you have a sweet tooth, they have these great puffy donut-like things covered in honey. I wish I knew the name, but I don't need to know it to crave them. And, actually, the Greek salad alone is the most amazing salad I've had anywhere - including my recent dinner at a four-star Open Table hotspot - in recent memory.

There's a reason why this place has 5 stars! The ambiance is so homey like and small. I love it! The service was on point! Our server was very patient and so hospitable, as so was everyone else. We were hungry (as usual) and being new in the area, I had no idea where to go. This little gem made Mesquite so much better! Phew! Saved me from feeling home sick. Any who!!! We ordered the dolma which was scrumptious! And we both ordered the gyro. It was a fat gyro and so filling! The meat was seasoned well and very soft. The dolma had a tangy just right taste. Oh!!! And Free honey puffs. Yup I said FREE! Woohoo! We will so be back! Thanks guys!!!!

The location is bad, and to be honest the food just basic. (meaning I ate the basic foods that were offered). I will say it is cooked when you order it, so it's hot and fresh. (*** I had to edit this because I was for certain I have it 3 stars and not 2).

I drive by this place 3-4 times a week and never really give it a second glance. The particular location has changed hands many times over the years, none of which has lasted long. The gyro plate was the best I've ever had. The staff was super friendly. I mentioned it was my first visit, and the owner brought me a bowl of meatball soup...which was also fantastic. After my meal, the owner brought me a desert. I'm not sure what it was, but it resembled a sugary dumpling. Also delicious. I will be back soon.

I love coming across gems like this. It definitely has a hole in the wall vibe, which I love, and the food is authentic and delicious! My mouth is watering just thinking about the perfectly seasoned gyro plate. The staff was very friendly and patient and the food came out quickly. They even had complimentary loukoumades, which were basically the Greek version of sopapillas and were amazing! This will definitely be a staple in my restaurant rotation when I'm craving a gyro.

Best Food around! When you come ask for Juan! He is a very professional server and so kind. He knows his menu and is on top of his game we will return for the food but by far the main reason we will return is thanks to Juan! Meatball Soup was very good and the gyros! The lamb was very tender and delicious. If you want great food come here, if you want awesome customer service come see Juan!

Two words....HEAVENLY and AUTHENTIC! I was wanting something different and we were in the Mesquite area. We went a little out of our way but it was SO WORTH it!!! I got the hamburger gyro and the flavor was packin'! It was hands down the best gyro I've ever had. So Good! The honey puffs are quite amazing too. It's a little random building through Mesquite that can definitely go unnoticed if you didn't know about it. It's family owned and they are super friendly. Price is very reasonable. We paid $20 for 2 people. Don't ignore this place....GO NOW! It's worth your time. We live 20 miles away and will be back often!

We were working over in this part of town and after reading so many good reviews on Yelp, decided to try it. I was a little worried when we pulled up, but on going in this is a cute little place with a family flair. Service was outstanding! We had gyro plates, dolmas, and souvlaki. All was authentic Greek, tasty, and the price for what you get is super! Most lunch items are $7-10. Oh, and we got FREE appetizer and dessert!!

I have missed a really good Gyros since moving to Texas from Chicago. My parent received a coupon and we decided to try it out. The pita is grilled on the flat top perfectly. The meat is off the spindle just like it should. It's shaved into smaller pieces not quite in the strips I am used to but still very delicious. The tzatziki sauce was also very good. Missed the bits of cucumber I am used to but over all very happy and will absolutely return.

Great service, food, and decor. If I didn't live in CA I would make this restaurant a habit. Check it out. You won't regret it.

Notice all the 5 star ratings? There's a reason for that. My review will be very similar. Its a little out of the way Greek place that serves some of the best Greek food I've ever had. Their original famous gyro is simply to die for. Piping hot fresh and delicious. They are a very small place but they are big on personality and taste. One thing I love about this place is they always give you a little sample of something at the beginning. And then they give you a couple of their famous loukoumades honey puff things at the end for dessert. They are absolutely addicting. Super great service, friendly people and super delicious food prepared fresh, right then and there. I absolutely love this place.

Absolutely delicious food, great service, and a cozy atmosphere - we loved it! Highly recommend the lamb or pork gyro (although you won't be disappointed with anything on the menu) and the dolma plate. Lovely and welcoming staff, clean bathrooms, and fast service definitely makes this place a must stop!

A delicious take on authentic Greek food in an unassuming atmosphere. My whole family enjoyed a thorough sampling of the menu, including a very picky son. Try it and you will agree that this is a pleasant break from routine meals and a great little place to eat the "Food of the Gods" for a reasonable price.

Excellent little spot for authentic Greek food. Love the atmosphere, family atmosphere, and food.

Excellent! Lamb chops were very good! Salad was fresh and feta was delicious. Staff very nice/friendly. Will be back soon for a fresh gyro, looked amazing!

I have been here on three occasions and have never been disappointed. Twice for takeout and once to dine In. The gyros are perfect, as well as the hummus and dolmas. Tonight I tried the meatball soup and I can't wait to go back and have it again. You get the complete package here, great service, great food and (on the one time I ate at the restaurant, although quite cozy) it had great atmosphere. One warning, if you do eat there, they do not have an ice machine, so all drinks are bottled.

On the way home my husband and I aways discuss/debate the food when we leave the restaurant on how good or bad it was... This place is AMAZING! We couldn't stop talking about it all the way home. What a hidden treasure. GREAT food, GREAT service. They made us feel like they invited us to their home for dinner. Try the meatball soup, chicken gyro, lamb chops... and the hummas!...and there is much more, the food never ends! ...plus it is BYOB!

Excellent food at affordable prices. We visited during lunch and ordered hummus and garlic dip, a gyro, chicken souvlaki, and the spanikopita. Everything was very tasty and was prepared right in front us. This is definitely a hole-in-the-wall place, but it's clean and well -run. My only complaints are that the pitas aren't fresh made (I saw them pulling them out of a bag and sticking them on the grill) and the spanikopita, while tasty, wasn't very crisp. For phyllo dough, it was a bit soggy. The owners of this place are local and are very personable and friendly. They even brought us samples of the meatball soup and the honey ball dessert (they're golf-ball-sized fried dough thats been soaked in a honey cinnamon syrup. They were delicious.) Both the husband and wife sat at our table and chatted with us. They are committed to bringing culture and flavor to Mesquite. Good people. Good food. I would definitely visit again.
