My family and I have been here a few times since we live in the neighborhood. I agreeed to go last night to get Corned beef and cabbage for my husband. I've never really had a great meal here, but nothing to bad to complain about.. except last night. First it took about 10 mins to get some waters and a milk for my 2 year old daughter, bad start, I gave my daughter her milk without testing it first, well lesson learned, after she drank, I took a sip.... IT WAS CHUNKY! I'm not sure what was in it, but it wasn't right, didn't taste right, I spit it out immediatly... So lesson learned for this mommy... After that, you just don't trust the food anymore, so my family and I walked out. Had a nice walk to Market Street for their prepared food selection.

Went to Delany's for Fathers Day breakfast and it was nothing short of a disaster. Our waitress walked out shortly after taking our order. The manger had lost control of floor and it only got worse from there. An hour after we arrived we were told our order was never placed. Terrible!!!! Wow.

Love me some Delaney's. Waitstaff is great. Chef William is fantastic! Daily specials are always good. My faves, in no particular order: grilled pork chop, mushroom burger, fish 'n chips, shepherd's pie, meatloaf, Squeaky Greek, Guinness stew. Pub is packed on Friday and Saturday nights. Lunch is easy-going, no long wait. Their pub-made potato chips are off-the-rails great ... get an order to take home!

We like it! It's convenient, food is decent. I hate red onions so there's a lot I can't eat bc they're mixed in, but there are some other options I like! Gyro salad is yum, Philly cheesesteak egg rolls are one of our go to apps, burgers are consistent, and they have some good wraps. The beer is always cold and they have great cocktail specials throughout the week. I like the booths in front of the GIANT TVS for Playoffs and big games! The waitress with the super curly hair is our fave. She's really on top of her game and always super nice. The live music is a bit too loud, but I'm getting older!

Irish Pub in the neighborhood but the food is inconsistent. The Irish fare is excellent and has great flavor but many times the food is lukewarm, veggies not cooked. But the biggest disappointment is the Reuben Sandwich. When we first started going to Delaney's the Reuben was excellent. Now is seems as if they pulled left over corned beef from the "corned beef and cabbage" menu item. Way to thick for a sandwich and tough as nails to bite through. Also service is very, very slow. We waited last night for 25 minutes to get our dinner. Really just a good place to go grab a drink and watch sports.

When they first opened years ago, I really liked the food. Over the years it's like going from a chef to a cook. Have been there at least 4 times this year (a friend really likes the Ruben) and each time ordered something different. In general the food is greasy, vegetables are not fully cooked, hamburgers - yuck, meatloaf has huge chucks of cased sausage, fries are over cooked but the salad is good. They need to get a chef back. It's nothing like good Pub Grub. Really makes you want to quit going there. I'll just have to find a new place for my friend to get her Ruben.

Two times and the food just isn't very good. Have tried two appetizers, their Philly cheese eggrolls, so ground up there is no texture and bland. Texas potato balls which have a good texture and some flavor but not enough to stand up to drinks The side salad and mashed potatoes are good but the Beef and Mushroom Pie, the crust was soggy so I peeled it back and ate the insides. Happy hour drinks are weak and poorly made. So we stuck with beer and wine after our first round. And the music ... they cranked it up to such a level that we couldn't talk and I just heard bits and pieces of the table conversation. That said; I'll come back for a glass of wine or beer during happy hour and leave when I'm hungry

The service was good, but the prices were ridiculous. I went there with my boyfriend and we had 2 beers and 2 shots. It totaled to $58. I've never been to any sort of pub like that that is so pricey. I can see these prices and the shops and legacy or something, but it's just way overpriced for what it is.

My wife and I went last night for a salad and a beer. This was our second and our last time going. They tout 53 beers on tap. My wife ordered a beer as did I. The waitress came back and told me they were out of the beer I ordered. I ordered a different beer only to find out it was out also. Third beer - out. Fourth beer - out. Fifth beer - you know. Finally, I found one they had. In the meantime, my wife's beer (which they did have) sat at the bar and didn't make it to the table until my inventory audit was complete. While there may be 53 taps behind the bar..... No issues with the food. When we were nearly finished, the waitress stopped by and I told her we were ready for the check. Then she disappeared. We finished our drinks and sat at the table for probably 10 minutes when she came back and asked if we needed anything else. Just the check I said. "Oh, are y'all ready for the check?" That's when I punched her in the face. Just kidding...but the thought crossed my mind. Anyway, I can't recommend the place.

We had a great time. The service was good, if they cut out the county music at the Irish Pub it would be better. My husband and I shared an appetizer of Philly cheese steak egg rolls. They were very good. The onion rings were a bit under done. They have a wide beer selection.

I've been to this pub three times now with some friends who live very closeby and my thought overall is that it's just ok. The bar is your typical bar, there's a decent amount of seating with a combination of both high top tables and booths. The food is pretty decent for a pub, but nothing that I crave enough to come back for. I've tried the gyro salad which is good (get the fets dressing on the side...this is kind of my motto in life). The most recent time we went we tried the buffallo wings and the cheese fondue. Both were delicious and definitely sharable. One thing I will say is that I love going to bars/pubs for the live music and, based on the band we heard Saturday night, I will NOT be rushing to go back (although our liquid courage did get us out on the dance floor). The drink selection is decent, food options are decent, but there are definitely better bars/pubs out there to choose from. I think one perk is that Delaney's is located in a shopping center by Market Street (close to a few housing additions) so a little easier to get in and out of than bars elsewhere.

Sitting in Delaney's receiving about the worst service our group has received. Let's see, the excuses (from the manager) ranged from a computer slowdown due to the party of 20 requesting separate checks to we have another side of the restaurant to deal with! Really? If a restaurant cannot handle large parties, perhaps they shouldn't take the reservation. All this bad stuff (not a way to run a restaurant) only caused cold food and lack of taste. Never will I ever recommend this place.

  • Mark D.

We ordered and waited 30 mins before seeing our waitress again. Asked her to cancel our salads if the food was to follow. She proceeded to get our salads and the manager brought our food, literally right behind her. Seems our food was sitting and waiting. Not only was it cold, but it was also wrong. Asked the manager to get us the corrected food which the waitress brought out two plates and asked us to pick which one we wanted. Needless to say, worst experience and management obviously has no clue!! This place has slipped since we started coming here 2 years ago.....Won't be back anytime soon....

  • Sarahjoy C.

The food here is consistently excellent Irish pub. I absolutely love the food here! Good beer selection. But not the best drink specials. The service is definitely lacking. Sometimes rude, sometimes seemingly annoyed, but usually difficult to get and far between stops at the table.

Paid $10 for 5 potato skins with cheese and bacon. Can get a full meal at Capital Grille, please avoid.

First off, this really isn't an Irish Pub. Second, it's just not very comfortable or accommodating. I went in on a Saturday evening with a couple of friends. There was a DJ at the front of the "pub" absolutely blasting horrible music as loud as you can stand it. We went to the far back of the place and still it was so loud the waitress could not hear us order. At a yelling level we politely asked if they could turn the volume down a bit so we could talk among each other and not have to yell. The response? "The owner likes the DJ and wants him in here on Saturday nights". Well....so three friends that want to go to a bar, have a couple of beers, and talk and catch up....this is not the place. If you want to go to a "night club" then this is the place for you. We left, headed to Churchills, and that's the end of it. Been going to Churchills where you can actually hear yourself think and hang out with your friends. Delaney's really offered nothing I would go back for, even if it quiets down during the week. I can't recommend it to anyone. Not a good experience.

Been here several times and it never improves. Waitresses are rude especially the short dark haired ones. They have worked there for awhile. Staff are constantly in the second bathroom mot sure what their doing in there but not waiting tables. Beer is very warm

YUM! My husband and I have lived in McKinney for about a year and every time we were in the market street parking lot we would see the sign for the breakfast at Delaney's and we always said "man, we should totally go to that". I cannot believe it took us SO LONG to try it. I absolutely loved the breakfast I had, and so did my husband. Not only did we get to enjoy some very tasty mimosas with our brunch on a Saturday, but I had the irish eggs benedit which has potato pancakes, spiced sausage with hard boiled egg (instead of poached, but it was still very tasty) and that is quick fried to give a little crunch to the topping. Their hollandaise was delicious and I got toast with the plate but nothing for the toast so I asked for some of their gravy because my husband was raving about it and the manager brought it to the table and informed us he handmade it that morning. SO yummy. I loved it. My hubby had the lumberjack breakfast and it was VERY generously portioned, I really couldn't believe they charged less than $10 for 2 biscuits, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs and their homemade gravy! Hubby couldn't even finish it but it was so tasty he kept snacking on the plate throughout our morning. We are definitely excited about going back again and enjoying breakfast.

Cold beer, good reuben sandwich, should have just served myself. The service is beyond pathetic. It wouldn't be as bad if all the employees just left, but it's like they actively try and NOT serve you.

  • Angelina M.

I've been here twice and love this place! Once for lunch, once for dinner. The food was great, as was the service. The philly cheesesteak eggrolls are AMAZING! Next time I'll have to try breakfast.

  • Robert L.

I would give the food and Bloody Mary a 4.5 but the waitstaff gets a 1. It took 5 minutes to get a waitress, 10 minutes for a drink, and then when the food arrived we had to wait on silverware. Lots of staff and very little service.

    (3)
  • Kimberly B.

Nice decor! I had the philly cheese steak egg roll appetizer which was gross! It looked and tasted like it had been reheated several times in the microwave. My friend had the fish and chips and that was ok but soggy. Service at the bar was ok but not very friendly.

  • Raven C.

This place is packed and the food rocked on St. Patricks day. Other than that we've had okay experiences here.

I do feel like their food and service has improved some over the last year. Hopefully it we continue and I can add higher ratings!

Delaney's is close and convenient to get to, after that it sucks. Service is slow and rude. The food is hit and miss, sadly the best breakfast in Mckinnney its not, cold eggs and country fried steak only warm from the gravy made this experience the last I'll have here for food. But be warned if you drink here the bartenders are illiterate or dont care, ordered a non spicy bloody mary, it burned the throats of all that drank it. Think if you live in Mckinney eat downtown or drive to Plano or Frisco.

My family and I come here fairly frequently because we shop at Market Street and it is very close to home. The space was expanded not too long ago whereby they took over a failed Cajun eatery. They blended some of that menu with their own and you have an new eclectic menu that I think works better for them. This evening, I had an Irish Burger that was good. It was accompanied by sweet potato fries. My wife had her usual salad. I like the pork chops and the shephard's pie. I have been to their breakfast on a few occasions and the food is good. The bar area is loaded with a sufficient level of different beers and liquors. Trust me, the bartenders know what they are doing. I think some of the complaints are from some of the regulars who feel they need more loving. No, I am not the owner, but yes, I think I know who you are. If they feel the need to complain because they will not let you get drunk, go somewhere else. The atmosphere might use something. Perhaps, the kitchen could be closed off more. There may be a tendency for waitresses to not look busy when they really are. We tip well. If there are complaints, it because it is the same idiots noted above. The place will get crowded. It is a sports bar and it can be loud.

Drive a little farther for Holy Grail, Trinity Hall or any pub in downtown McKinney. The food is mediocre and the service is poor! Oddly enough, the service is much better on the weekends when the band plays and it's packed full. This is when the managers show their face and seem to care about your service. During brunch or weeknights the service is rude, slow and more than once I've had the feeling like I'm intruding on their social time with each other. They don't have the right to be called a pub. They are a greasy spoon that serves Guinness at best.

  • Rick S.

Great place. Really a fun place and its nice to have live music somewhere close. Love the Owners Burger! In fact, I am going there for lunch today!

    (5)
  • Pete W.

The food was mediocre (hard to screw up fried food) but the service was terrible. Karaoke night is obnoxious for those who want to hang out with friends and have a drink without the 130 decibels of drunks thinking they've actually got talent. I'd rather drink at home.

    (1)
  • Lisa S.

I can't believe all the horrible reviews here. We went here for the first time this past weekend and thought it was great. We had fantastic service and really liked our food. I had the turkey sliders and they were great!! I would definitely order them again. They have a zillion beers on tap and this place is WAY bigger then it appears from the outside. We had great service ~ our drinks were never empty and our food orders were perfect! I would definitely go again!

  • Leigh O.

My husband and I have been here several times, I will probably go back and give them another chance. The first time the food was really good, the next time it was just OK, my hubby really liked his meal both times. I don't know how long our waitress had been working there because she knew her menu, but not the beers. I don't know why they have a wait to be seated sign, because nobody seems to be in charge of greeting the customers coming in.

    (3)
  • Aaron S.

Similar experience to others, SLOW service, server didn't know what was included with the entree, salad came out with dinner not before, and the few patrons who were there you could tell go there everyday and are obnoxious

    (2)
  • Kate G.

This is our go-to place for wings!!! I'd like to see them carry more of a selection of the Franconia beers since we are in McKinney. The wings and atmosphere alone deserve 4 stars though! Appetizers are amazing too!!! Yum yum yum!

We trekked up to McKinney today for fun trying something new on a recommendation of a friend. We erred in not confirming exact location, so sorta kinda went out of the way by travelling up 75 to McKinney, taking the Eldorado Parkway exit, West. North on 75 was travelling too far East of the restaurant. The faster more efficient way from the Addison area would have been taking the tollway, then turning East on Eldorado Parkway No problem, we saw lots of scenery and areas not visited before. (Saw some other spots along the way to try in the future) This restaurant is a smaller space than imagined after reviewing the web site, and is a definite "'neighborhood place" with lots of regulars. Nice first impression (love 'hood restaurants) At 1510 in the afternoon, it was moderately busy. Diverse mix of patrons; singles, couples and families. Dark woods, high top tables & chairs in the center, wooden booths on the right of the entrance and rather large long bar on the left. Okay, I am gonna like this place. The menu is quite extensive, from several apps, soups and salads, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, hoagies, croissants, pitas, and entrees (Some looked so good; several chicken options, beef, shepherd's pie, Guinness stew, corned beef & cabbage, fish & chips, pasta, etc., so tempting!) So many to choose from. We saw delicious looking salads, burgers, etc. being served. All tempting. We both opted for the cold Tuna Pasta Salad; (on this hot 103 degree day), a wonderful blending of flavors with finely diced (and I mean, REALLY finely diced) celery, onions, cabbage and jalapenos tossed with a smooth dill ranch dressing over penne pasta, topped with lots of freshly grated Parmesan Cheese, and served with beautifully grilled pita slices that were amazingly soft and buttery, The serving was HUGE,; IMO, enough for 3 servings. I'll have lunch tomorrow and again the next day. Even my friend, who is a big eater couldn't finish his generous portion. Side note - there were probably over 30+ draft beers available. Friend had a Miller Lite (yuk!) and I reallllly enjoyed a Stella. Both served in an ice cold glass with lime. YUM !! Service by Chris was "cute". He acknowledged right off that he had only been there for about a week, but any questions about the menu he couldn't answer, he would find out! And, he did! Chris has a great customer service attitude and was very attentive and helpful. A very young man (maybe a college student?) who deserves KUDOS for trying so hard. He added to our great experience. Also, observed on the menu they have Brunch on Saturday and Sunday 9am-2pm, and Mon-Fri 9a-11a. How nice that would be. Lots of choices, some most unusual...typical "Irish Pub" items? One dish that caught my eye - Fried Green Tomatoes on top of 2 Sausage Patties, with 2 eggs (fried or scrambled) and 2 pieces of Toast. Sounds Yummy !!! Mimosas and Bloody Mary's for $3.50 at brunch. Hope I am in the area sometime soon to experience more great service and some really different menu items.

My seven year old walked in and said it smelled like a bathroom. We should hae known. Horrible food. My tip- don't go. Couldn't manage to cook carrots long enough so they weren't raw. Hubs burger was terrible. Daughters chicken nuggets were so greasy. Same w fries. It's like nothing was drained. Dripping with oil. How do you screw up a burger and chicken nuggets? Waste of $35. Only positive- Bartender pours a strong drink. We'll never go back.

The food is decent, although I honestly haven't tried much here. The menu is a heart attack waiting to happen. I think I'll continue to avoid clogging my arteries with 72 pounds of fried fatness. They DO serve Franconia beer...which is deserving of 5 stars :) Karaoke nights are generally entertaining...but I think it has more to do with the people I go with, and less to do with the actual bar. And I say bar, not pub, because in spite of its misleading "Irish Pub" label...this place is barely better than a Chili's. Case in point, one night I ordered an "Irish Car Bomb"....which is a staple at any pub...let alone an Irish one. The waitress had no idea what I was talking about. I had to go to the bar to order it. And then...the waitress brings out the beer...minus the rest of the shot. Required another trip to the bar. NOT COOL!

  • Nicole C.

I went to this bar with friends and witnessed the most disgusting thing I have seen in my life! A customer was walking in from smoking a cigarette and another customer stood up and shoved his iPhone with some kind of picture in the entering customers face, he said "this is a picture of real men, you have (performed a sexual oral act) (not in those words) more than my daughter, you (curse word that starts with F) Queer, keep walking! While I understand that an establishment is not responsible for the actions of customers, they are responsible for what they tolerate and how they respond. This person was obviously a regular as they did not remove him, knew his name and told him to stop. Instead they allowed the other customer, who BTW, was morning the loss of his beloved dog that passed earlier, be humiliated and violated in their establishment. They behavior is intolerable. I am a straight women that was disgusted by the lack of action by this facility and will NEVER return. Spend your money elsewhere unless you too are a bigot!

I don't quite understand any bad reviews for this place. I love this place. They have over 30 different beers on tap...a very diverse selection. Atmosphere is great tasteful live music. If you like sweet potato fries...hands down theirs are the best. I go there just for that with a draft beer. All hamburgers are great and huge. I have never had slow or bad service and I have been here many times. Ignore the bad reviews and give it a try. Gotta have the sweet potato fries if you go!

  • Ryan B.

First time going there tonight for dinner. Food was great, service was great, and overall atmosphere was great. Not too sure why there are so many negative reviews. Maybe I haven't been there enough times but definitely planning on going back.

Consider my one star a vote. Used to love the place... no more. Food poor. Service poor. I read about new owners on other posts. Whoever changed the place should be ashamed and hand the keys to the ones who made it great.

My husband and I prefer to visit restaurants that are locally owned, and Delaney's advertises itself to be a great place to watch NFL games and, more recently, the World Series games. Instead of watching the World Series at home, we decided to try this place out. The first time was with our son, and the service then was very slow and inattentive, but since it is a local place, we decided to give it a second try last night. We figured that since it was a Saturday night, they would plan better and actually have an appropriate amount of waitstaff for the crowd that they hope to have on a weekend night with the World Series going on. We left last night after we sat for over ten minutes without anyone coming by to help us out. Food: The food here is typical bar food with a few Irish/English dishes to fulfill its "Irish Pub" atmosphere. The food isn't bad. I liked what I had, and so did my husband and son. We had their appetizer sampler with fried pickles, potato balls and philly steak egg rolls. We also had their fish & chips, a burger and the Guinness stew. I can't complain about the food. It was all pretty good. This is the only reason this place has two stars instead of one. Drinks: When the service is okay and you can get the drinks you want within 45 minutes of when you order it, it's good. They have a good selection of draft beer, and they have some good mixed drinks. Service: This is where this place lost all of its stars for me. The first time we tried it, the service was good at first. But that's when there were only about ten tables occupied. When the game began, more people started coming in, and that's when the service literally died. I mean, it became nonexistent. We ordered a beer, and it literally came to the table 45 minutes later. We saw our waitress and the manager a couple of times in between and asked them for it both times, and they both seemed annoyed that we were asking for BEER at a PUB. They both stated that they were really busy and slammed, and they'd get us our ONE beer as soon as they could. So, if you're advertising a great place to eat, drink and watch the games, and you have a certain number of tables available, then don't you think you should have more than three servers available?? The following weekend, we figured on a Saturday night, they should have been more aware that there is a big game going on, especially since they are once again advertising it. So we went there (I know, suckers...) and we sat at a booth. After ten minutes of sitting and being ignored by waitresses serving other tables around us, we finally waved one down. She seemed annoyed by yet another table (gasp) with people to serve. We asked for our two drinks and waited another ten to fifteen minutes. So we left. Lesson learned: NEVER go back. Ugh. And then the Rangers lost. Bad night.

My daughter and I had their brunch this weekend. The breakfast was really good...plenty of food and it was cooked just right. Our waiter was very knowledgable and attentive. We will definitely go again some time.

Food was excellent. Service was good (nice servers) and bad (long waits). Everyone in our party has really liked their food. My husband LOVES the Philly Cheese-steak rolls (like an egg roll with Philly Cheese-steak). They have...I think they are called Rusty Balls... that are like balls of potato with cheese, chopped bacon and jalapenos. Wish I remembered the exact item name but in general the stew was great. They have clam chowder every day!!!

Is this a pub or a family restaurant? Kids all over the place & were hogging the pool tables while mom & dad drank. Beers tasted weird either from being off or the glasses. Food was iffy. I got corned beef & cabbage which was basically deli slices & reheated mashed potatoes. Wife ordered nachos which were terrible. Don't understand why people take their kids to bars here in McKinney or how this place manages to stay open.

This was my first time dining here and I was impressed with the food. The atmosphere was relaxed and a little over the top with the Irish trinkets and pictures. They had tons of beer to choose from along with numerous mixed drink choices. I had the Ham and Gouda Croissant sandwich with potato salad. It was delicious and I will definitely get it again. My wife had a burger with swiss and mushrooms and she loved it! My daughter enjoyed the mini burgers off the kids menu. The service was a little questionable, although at the time we were there they were in the process of replacing their computers. The waitress apologized a lot, but not all of it was caused by the computers. We were waiting quite a bit! It wasn't bad enough to turn me off of this new find. I'll be back for sure.

I agree with the reviews below. I really enjoy this spot awhile back, but I havent been back since I got very sick from this place. I will not drink out of a glass w/out a straw or order draft beer anymore. I woke up the next morning after drink draft beer from Delaney's and woke up and my mouth was very sore and hurt really bad. Thinking about all of the reasons behind this there were only 2...either their cleaning product for their dishes irritated me or a glass was not cleaned. I am usually very good at checking my glasses before drinking out of it, but it is pooly lit inside this pub and wouldnt have mattered. All I have to say is that scarred me for life and have not returned!

Sunday breakfast was okay. "Best breakfast in McKinney" is debatable--especially compared to downtown McKinney. On par with standard bar food.

3 pm on a Saturday and seating was very plentiful. It's not a tap house, but the beer selection is decent. Started with the onion rings made from scratch and they were fantastic ... portion size was very generous as well. Could easily be a good 4-person app. My first beer was cold, but not cold enough. Like it has sat on the bar for 10 minutes. I shrugged it off and moved on ... The second beer arrived faster and was colder. Not a coincidence but I did question why it would take any time at all to get a beer since the place wasn't even half full. The Shepherd's Pie was fantastic. Had it with fries and left fully satisfied. Waitress was very friendly. Overall a very good experience. Not perfect, but better than most.

This is the closest pub to my home. Nice atmosphere, above average beer selection and they carry some local brews as well. Pool tables in the back and live music. Food is not bad at all!

This spot is very close to the hizouse...so we thought we'd check it out. We weren't looking for anything revolutionary, but honestly were just looking for a decent burger and beer. Initially, we were pretty impressed to see some of the selection of draught beer... I'm not trying to say my honey and I are Certified Cicerones or anything, but we do occasionally like to have a brew other than Miller, Bud or Coors. Hubby ordered a standard Guinness and I ordered a Maredsous 8. These are beers we both have previously enjoyed on various occasions. On this day, we did not. I don't know if there is an issue with the taps...or what...but wow these beers were not good. The Guinness bore a vague resemblance to itself and my Maredsous had turned into something else entirely. After not being able to finish my beer, I ordered a Miller Lite to see if that fared better. This round was indeed better but only marginally...the place was pretty busy - so I don't understand why the domestic light beer wouldn't be pretty fresh and regularly rotated... Being that the beer part of our visit was pretty sad...we were in the running for a 1 star review. We both ordered cheeseburgers and these were there only redeeming feature of the evening. Nothing revolutionary, but a sound hamburger that home grilling could only silghtly improve. We may indeed return for a burger (I'd say alone they're about 3 stars), but we won't likely order any brew.

Beware of new owners! We used to go to Delaney's all the time (they are one of the only bar in town that serve my favorite beer and they are close to our home). Since the old owners took off the place has gone totally down hill. We were there with a large group of people on a Friday night and couldn't have been more disappointed. The service was decent (usually we have to put up with slow servers) but everything else bad. For some horrific reason the owners (that could not have been more absent from their own restaurant) decided that they'd like to save money on their overhead by simply removing the buttons from the thermostats and setting it at miserable 84 degrees!! Totally unacceptable for a hot June night. If we were burning up, I can only imagine what the staff was feeling like. This is cruel. No wonder the owners refused to be there for a busy Friday night... they'd melt! Paying up to $5 for a draft beer they should have the decency of keeping their patrons comfortable. And by the way, $6.50 for chips and salsa is totally ridiculous for a pub, who do you think you are?!

Burgers: 4 and half stars Irishman's Gyro Wrap: 3 stars Customer Service: 2 stars Overall ambience: 2 stars Before I say anything negative, I've got to say that the burger my husband ordered looked really good and he said that it was a tie for second best burger in the immediate area. That's the good news. I had the Irishman's gyro wrap and it was good but not terribly memorable. They need a "secret" sauce to jazz it up a bit and give it some pizzazz. That has really been my experience with Delaney's. I've been once before, had the pita wrap and was similarly unimpressed. The experience today was just weird. We walked in and the bartender told us to sit whereever we would like. So I grabbed two menus and we headed to the closest booth about six feet away. We took two steps and the hostess appeared and took the menus away from us and told us to sit down and she would bring them to us. Stunned, we walked the other 5 feet and sat down and started discussing going somewhere else. She waited two or three seconds and then brought us the menus. That was just weird. Why would she do that? I mean, what was the point?? I find the presentation of the restaurant really confusing. I used to go to Tipperary's when it was on Greenville. Now, THAT was an Irish pub. This place looks the part but it plays country music as if were a BBQ or cheap steak place. The waitresses, some of them, wear exceedingly short Catholic school uniforms suggesting that it is more like a Twin Peaks or Bone Daddy's. The food is far superior to Twin Peaks and falls short of Bone Daddy's. The restaurant is on the west side of McKinney where you would expect a more educated clientele with a broader pallette but the menu, as previous reviewers have said, seems to be addressing an uneducated and inexperienced clientele by saying, "if you haven't ever had this, don't order it". Personally, I find that insulting. I was raised to never turn my nose up at new food and that is one of the few things I truly enjoy about traveling. There are other restaurants that I have gone to and enjoyed the food without having any idea what it was (Indian, Mediterranean, Ethiopian). I can't help but think that this is their way of covering for poor quality. If the food is good, why be afraid of letting people try it? Considering where the restaurant is, it can't be blamed on the population. With the kind of wealth in the area, we aren't exactly talking local yokels here. I've seen some reviews on Delaney's that defend it saying that it is a neighborhood sports bar, nothing more and nothing less. Maybe, but that would be a shame because I think it has a lot more potential than that.

I gave Delaney's 3 stars because the food is consistently excellent. Yelp says not to give a review if you are connected with the owners or employees, but as a former employee I feel I am more than qualified to review. I also intend to be completely honest. I recently left because of a terrible accident and honestly am not too disappointed to have left, because I personally hated working at a place where the staff was expected to run the restaurant each evening. Anyhow, when I first begin working there I was amazed to go in the back and see the staff preparing FRESH chicken and beef. I have been a server for a while now and am not used to seeing fresh food prepared in a high volume restaurant. Yes, the service can be lacking if you catch the wrong server. I would suggest Joe or Melissa above all the others. Jiman and Craig at the bar are always great. Some of the other servers can be more interested in getting easy tips from easy guys (if you know what I mean), not to say that some of these don't do that also, but in general they are good servers. Joe is a great guy who has been serving for about 30+ years and Melissa is genuinely a nice gal. I've noticed Joe take great pains to seat all of his tables in the same section so they will be able to at least SEE him is they need him for something, and he makes sure to check on his tables regularly. Melissa never complains and hardly ever stands around talking with the other servers wasting time when she could be checking on tables. Jiman works her fingers to the bone and even though she can be a bit crabby with regulars, she will correct her mistakes or the mistakes of other staff members in a heartbeat, even if she has to comp an item. But to be honest, it isn't all the servers fault. Brett, (owner/operator) has another full-time job that is quite demanding and can't be at the restaurant all the time. You can't expect for employees to give their best when there is little or NO supervision. The menu may be misprinted about things like Jalapenos on your nachos because the owner/operator just doesn't have the time to get to that small item on his list. I will say that Martin (kitchen manager) is a great cook. Although he and I used to fight like cats and dogs and in general I just did not like him...I can't honestly be negative about his cooking. Portions are incredibly large and the burgers are fresh and cooked to perfection. Not to mention huge!!!! If you live in McKinney and need a cool place to hang out, try Delaney's. My family used to come in and they personally hated the stories I would tell about the lack of management but could not stay away from the great appetizers (and my family goes out to eat at least 4 times per week). So if you want to go to Delaney's and have some great food, good beer (52 on tap and McKinney's own Franconia) ask for Joe, Melissa (if they are not available try Candace or Kim-my 3rd and 4th choice if I had to pick a server for myself) or just sit at the bar. You won't be disappointed. And understand management is everything. And to back up my claims of bad management I'll confess I was put on the floor in my FIRST day of employment and this was even after I made several menu mistakes...But then again Brett claims he's been working on a menu test. That should be the beginning of a good thing. My suggestion for Delaney's; stop being too cheap to hire a manager and a hostess might stop people from standing at the door for ever. Also, sections were created for a reason. It stops servers from arguing over tables, gives them a section to concentrate on so they are not all over the place and ALL of their tables can at least SEE them if they need something. Yep, I think a good manager would make Delaney's a five star place.

We recently moved to McKinney and are working our way through the restaurants in the area. In spite of the so so reviews for Delaney's we decided to try it on a recent weeknight since it is close by. I pull up outside and my husband (who arrived first) met me at the curb to let me know that they lost their liquor license and have no beer. WHAT?! What kind of Pub doesn't have beer. So we went next door to Market Street and bought a six pack of Guinness and BYOB'd it. The fried mashed potato balls for an appetizer were pretty good, but just fair. Good enough for beer and football. My husband had the fish and chips...so so. I had the corned beef sandwich....again so so. I got exactly what the reviews told me...so so.

The food is the only thing good about our experience. The food was great once we finally got it. The service was horrible. Our waitress was not rude at all, but she was incredibly slow and unable to handle the volume. We came for brunch on Father's Day. The first thing she said to us was "Please be patient, it's really busy." I'm very patient, but it took forever and it wasn't THAT busy. There wasn't a wait at all. We didn't get our food for an hour because it took her forever to take our order and then the kitchen took forever to make it. It was very hot in the restaurant. We were in the back by the thermostat and it said it was 84. She said it was so hot because there were so many people in the the place. I've been in places more crowded that weren't this hot. Everyone was fanning themselves with their menus. We couldn't get refills of our coffee until we flagged her down and then we had to ask her again for cream. When the food finally arrived, the eggs were cooked incorrectly, but I'm not too picky about that and I didn't want to wait another hour so I didn't complain. The food did taste good. The potato cakes are great and so is the french toast. If the place hired more servers and cooks it might be better because our food was good. If you don't mind waiting and don't have kids with you, it might be worth the wait. It was a nightmare trying to keep the kids from rioting since the wait was so long. I would not recommend this restaurant for people with kids based on our experience.

Great neighborhood bar and restaurant. Good food and several nice beers on tap. The blackened chicken sandwich is great. I'd recommend the potato salad. The burgers are very good...better than most nearby. (However, they almost always cook it medium-well regardless how you ask for it. It's still juicy though!) Friendly staff and the bar is well designed for it's size. They have about 12 HD TVs throughout.

BAD food and bad service! Should have been a clue it was lunch time and only 2 other elderly couples were there. I ordered the shepherd's pie and it was disgusting! VERY greasy grissly cheap ground beef. I couldn't eat it! The mixed veggies were over cooked and had way too much chili powder dumped on them that burned my throat! Although it wasn't busy, we received terrible service and never had our water filled! Also the waitresses dressed very unprofessionally and improper. And although i did let the waitress know about the problem with my food(and could clearly see it was all still there when they took it away), they never offered to credit me and i was charged $10 for that mess! WONT BE BACK HERE!!! YUCK!

My husband and I stopped in for brunch one day and had a pretty bad experience. We waited forever to be seated and while it was busy, there were plenty of open tables that just had yet to be cleaned off. Still, being a server myself, I understand sometimes uncontrollable factors come into play. We sat down and our server was an older lady who wasn't very pleasant. She took a long time for our drinks, which were just two sodas, and it took even longer for her to come back and take our order. After that, our drinks went empty and she didn't return for another long while. At this point our food hadn't come out and it had been a good 30 minutes. She came over FINALLY and said "I haven't forgotten yall, it's just the kitchen is busy.." and she was very defensive rather than apologetic (keep in mind we hadn't even complained). Food came out after about 40 minutes and it was fresh. No problems taste wise. I was disappointed that after the fact, we got no apology from the server or manager (who at this point knew we had been waiting a while)...paid the bill without objection and that will be the last time we go there. Such a shame.

Me and the wife walk in and the first thing we notice is the smell. Moldy and disgusting. Clean the place. We sit down to order. I order a Bud Lt draft; wife orders jack and coke. Wife orders sweet potato fries the come out like waffle fries with cinnamon sprinkled on them. You could tell the were frozen. So we order another round of drinks. The waitress brings my wife her jack and coke tells me they are switching out the bud lt keg. I say ok. She finally brings my beer and tells me that's the last bud lt draft beer. I thought you just said you were switching out the keg. I take one sip of this beer and it's not bud lt. Did you run out of bud lt. Someone not doing there job. I'm not happy. I have worked for Anhuieser Busch/Budweiser for 10 yrs. don't try to pass some bullshit beer on me that I didn't order. Bad customer service. I send it back. Some guy in a lite blue shirt and blue jeans came over to plead his case that he is the one that poured it and it was bud lt. Wife gets uncomfortable in these situations. So I bit my tongue. It really pissed me off that this establishment would try and insult my intelligence. It's really sad that we have two bars about a mile apart from each other that are just horrible, filthy establishments that continue to try a rip off the customer. From the ownership on down. I will not visit Jacks or Delaneys for a very long time. They both need to call Bar Rescue. He would tear into there asses. It sad that we live in McKinney and this is what we got for a couple bars. Besides downtown. Very sad.

They have the worst service. The staff are so disorganized. Delaney's need to change their title from an Irish restaurant as none of their food is traditional Irish food - their menu is all over the place! Not returning ever!

Was in McKinney for the first time in about 10 years. Stopped into Delaney's to caught a little bit of the game. Set at the bar great home town vibe with awesome bartender Melissa the made me feel right at home even though I was like a fish out of water. Love this place and will be back.

Great local hangout with better than average menu. I noticed a change in one of my favorite dishes (the meatloaf) and confirmed they have a new chef. This dish was fantastic! Larger portions of the side items were appreciated too. They recently did some upgrades to the restroom which was greatly needed. Now I'm not afraid to go in there! One of the co-owners stopped by the table to check on our satisfaction which tells me they really care. They are back in the top 5 spots for local dining.

This is a great local spot with 50+ beers on tap, and full bar with several tv's throughout. The menu overall has a lot of different options from standard Irish Pub food to burgers, and sandwiches. There are a few dishes that are very good and some just your standard bar food. They were voted one of the top breakfast places in McKinney. Prices are fair, servers are friendly, extensive juke box, video golf and other games make for good entertainment.

My wife and I love this place! The staff are all incredibly well mannered and attentive. We have always been greater promptly with a smile. Most times I'm a little overwhelmed by their huge selection of menu items (you can't go wrong with the meatloaf sandwich!). Everything's always perfect, and though my wife and I don't drink, I can see that they have a great selection of beer and spirits. Nice game area in the back, complete with pool table. Clean facilities and friendly faces. Feels like home, we will be back.

This is a great local watering hole. I've been here a few times and have had good service each time. It's got more room inside than you think by looking at the outside. The food is pretty good, the turkey, bacon and Gouda pita. It was really tasty.

I love the atmosphere at Delaney's, they used to have one of the best bands which is six of the matter. I was going there every Saturday they played to enjoy the band's music and have some beer with my co-workers. I guess that band is no longer playing at Delaney's . I asked the waitress and she said she did not even know them . Anyway, I recommend this restaurant . The service is always great and the food is decent. They just need to keep one good band every Saturday and if the management sees this comment, they better have six of the matter band play there.

+1 star for the friendly front-of-house staff, and +1 star for the beer selection. We never really had high expectations for most of their menu, but had found solace a few times with the traditional selections of fish n chips and shepherds pie. Unfortunat

It was a girls night! Holla! Came with my fraaands and since there were mixed reviews for this place, thought we may get lucky or the manager has at least looked here...right? Apparently, that would be a no. We got seated immediately and we ordered water and a cocktail! I really was wanting a Moscow Mule and figured, surely an Irish pub will have ginger beer. For each drink we ordered, excluding the water, the waitress asked each person if they wanted it tall or short. Hmmm, ok. I think that is a bit weird, but, she may be new to knowing how drinks come. First zinger, waitress came back and said they do not have Moscow Mule. Say whaaaa... OK no worries, rather you tell me now instead of messing that up. So, I ordered a Vodka sour. Simple. Short or tall... Whaaaa? (It comes short...again, Maybe a newbie) Food comes and my friends Shepherds Pie now looks way over priced! Like oh my, that is like, really small. Kids meal sized with Dinner prices. My Turkey, Bacon & Gouda Pita couldn't be that bad...and it wasn't. It did have tzatziki sauce on it, which is weird that there is a Greek sauce here but no Ginger beer...OK, letting it go. My other friend ordered the fish and chips and the fish was dripping grease on the plate...like dripping like it was crying lard. OK, no matter what, THAT has to be sent back. Waitress! She says, "Oh, yeah, that's the way it comes..you know 'Fried'", with the finger quotations... Wow...waitress walks of and goes to talk to her other waitress friends. "M'am" as I try to get her attention. After a noticeable eye roll, she says in a sarcastically sweet way...Yeeeeessssss... Umm, whats the status on my vodka sour? Oh, you must have drank it, I brought it out! Haha... I am not laughing with her. Sorry, love, I never got my drink. Yes, you did. (Sarcastic mood duly noted) No I didn't, see there is no glass, and you only came back to this table to bring us the food. Whatever, do you want another one? No I want the one I ordered. OK. Wait...there is a screen fiipping through specials...and they have a special on a GINGER BEER! What? You could have made my Moscow Mule? I get the sour...no vodka. Not. A. Drop. I ask about the Ginger beer to the waitress. Moscow Mule is not on the register, so they OBVIOUSLY do not have that AND and my bill reflects that I received a vodka sour, which I obviously didn't. *Sigh. Nothing will get resolved. We pay. We leave. We will not return. Not a one of us. Have a fantastic day!

Great location. Horrible service. We've been several times because it's walking distance from our home. There's been an issue every time. Overcharged twice, health related menu issues after asking, etc. On top of the management issues, the waitresses are rude. I wouldn't recommend this pub to anyone.

New to the area so was looking for a local, close-by bar. Have been to Delaney's a handful of times now. I want to like this place more bit just can't seem to get there. The food is just bar food. It isn't horrible but nothing to gloat about. Drinks are pretty good. The staff has ways been friendly so that's cool. Sucks they close at midnight. I'd say 2 of the 3 times I've been, the crowd has been a bit older or the place is dead. Went on a Friday for karaoke but couldn't get on for a song as they cut karaoke at about 11:20pm with a midnight close. Might check this place out one more time, but have been to better bars already.

Decided to drive up to McKenney to put another bar on my map and I must say, I wasn't disappointed. We walked in and I saw a "wait to be seated sign" but wanted to sit at the bar, Finding no space, grabbed a nearby table and after a short while a server came up and asked us what we wanted. Well, I wanted a beer menu since I saw they had 53 beers on tap. She pointed me to the beer menu and I asked for some time to look through. Looked through and was hopeful of something a bit different. They did have a fair selection of British and Irish beers on tap, plus some of the local brews too. Another server came to the table shortly afterwards and said he'd be looking after us. Darn that bait and switch ;) anyway. I went for the Oatmeal Stout and my wife has some pecan beer. It seemed to take a while for the beer to arrive so I thought i'd look around. There's TVs all over for easy viewing, a few booths to the right, tables right in front and the bar to the left, further down the bar is where the band was setup and playing. I'm really surprised that the music didn't drown out the conversations but it seemed to be kept in that one area. It's a nice touch so people who want to listen to sit on that side and get the full effect. The atmosphere was casual and relaxes and it seems like there were quite a few regulars, and probably locals. After a 2nd beer we got our check. The beers, while not cheap, were not overly priced. We both left feeling satisfied. From some of the reviews I've read, I'd like to come back and give the food a try and see what it's like on a different night. Overall, friendly staff, found a good selection beer. First beers could have arrived a little quicker but it wasn't a major delay. Comfortable and relaxed. Definitely on my "to do again" list.

Well, the place smelled like rotting food and other combinations of vomit, sweat and piss. Went in for a drink with a friend. Bar was littered with empty glasses, crumbs and otherwise dirty. I had to ask the bartender to wipe down the bar because she didn't after coming over to U.S. After at least a 10 minute wait. It was not busy and there were two other bartenders on. Didn't eat and wouldn't, the smell was too gross. I guess if I had gotten drunk enough I would have considered it.

If you like radio rock in the vein of Godsmack and Powerman 5000, this place will have your cup running over. I, personally, didn't care for the relentless onslaught of mid-nineties douche-rock on my ears. My waitress took about 10 minutes to bring me my Temptress during which time I observed her enjoying various conversations and sitting around the bar in various, bored, sassy poses. When my beer finally arrived she couldn't have cared less about the time it took to arrive. I'm not saying her "devil-may-care" attitude was a result of this establishment's awful music, but I am saying I think it definitely played a part. When you listen to such angsty, vile music all day encouraging you in their lyrics to do such things as, "look at this photograph" - then that's what you do. You look at photographs on your mobile device instead of attending to the needs of the customer. As much as I detested the music at Delaney's, I do want to thank Mr. Delaney. That's right, I want to thank him. Because, in the immortal words of the band Staind, I felt like I was "on the outside looking in". On the outside of what could have been a mediocre customer experience, looking in, wishing I could at least have had that.

We live in the neighborhood and consider Delaney's to be our "default" spot for a quick supper when we're not in the mood to cook. It's not fancy, it's not perfect, but we've always found the food and service to be "good enough" for what we're looking for. My husband and kids are big fans of the wings and chicken fingers, and I usually stick to fish & chips or the very nicely-prepared swiss burger. The french fries are properly cooked in hot-enough oil (so that they're crispy, vs. limp or greasy), and then dusted with black pepper for nice flavor, and the ranch and blue cheese dressings that accompany so many of the appetizers as well as the wings & chicken fingers are freshly-prepared onsite and are of very good quality. I once made the mistake of ordering an "old fashioned" here, and I ended up having to tell the bartender how to prepare it, which took away some of the "fun" of ordering a drink - at which point my daughter reminded me that "this is a sports bar place, so just stick to beer or wine or a Jack & Coke, and you'll be fine. Don't be so fancy." And she was right. Yes, service can sometimes be slow, and yes, some of the servers seem better-trained (or just generally have a better attitude) than others - but we still appreciate this place for what it is: a neighborhood hang-out spot with few pretenses, generally good food, enough TV screens to keep track of all the games at once, and decent drinks as long as you don't try to get too "fancy."

Worst non-attentive bar service ever. It takes forever for a bartender to notice you and when they do, they mischarge you.

I forgot for a moment that I was in a grocery store strip plaza. Then I walked out of the pub and nearly got ran over trying to get back to my car. Delaney's is a solid restaurant/bar (I listed restaurant first for a reason... it has more of that feel than the pubs I am used to). Had a half of a Reuben and a small potato skin app. The Reuben was very tasty, greasy bar style as opposed to deli style. The bread was a little bit over toasted leaving a bit of a burnt taste to the exposed rye. The potato skins were really good with the chili being an interesting addition to the normal fair. Decent happy hour prices for the area, and a well available for all of the common liquors was nice. I had a Jägerbomb ($5) and a well scotch ($3). The bomb was a little light on the Jäger and heavy on the Red Bull. I was a little bit disappointed, because their website shows a picture of a depth charge style bomb with a beer and not an energy drink mix. I probably should have refused it. The well Scotch pour made up for my disappointment, and well (pun intended)... it wasn't the worst Scotch I have ever tasted. My waitress was very nice and did a good job of keeping up with my water glass, drinks and food pace.

This place has the best food. Their Irish farmhouse salad is to die for. My only problem with this place is the service. Everyone there is so slow it's ridiculous. If you have a couple hours to spare then this is a good option.
