My daughter got food poisoning from their salsa. When I called they immediately denied any responsibility. They took my daughter's name and that was it. I told them it needed to be noted and checked out. I was told "Our salsa is at 40 degress." That's all they had to say. We have pinpointed it to the salsa. She was violently ill for 36 hours. Don't eat there! This was at the Rosa's on 4th street in Lubbock.

My boyfriend and I LOVE this place! I can eat vegetarian with the guacamole salad, and they are a SHELLFISH-FREE establishment. He always gets the beef fajitas, and they do smell delicious...for meat. It's quick and delicious, with a casual, but kind of loud atmosphere.

Service and environment are what the two stars are for. Food deserves no stars. I'm still fairly new to lubbock's eat out places, and seeing as how I was craving Mexican food, especially enchiladas, I decided to try this place out. Maybe my expectation was too high, but if this is what lubbock calls good, decent priced Mexican food, I am highly dissatisfied. Coming from houston and dating a hispanic guy, I know what real Mexican food should taste like. So breaking down my supreme Mexican dinner plate, nothing was good. Enchilada- a bit chewy like, no taste, nothing like an actual enchilada. The beef taco- I took one bite, dissected it to see if I could dig my spoon into something edible, nope. Probably the driest ground beef I've ever had. The tamale- a joke, complete, disgusting joke. So dry and flavorless. The tostada- your usual mundane retried beans, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. Basically everything I get included on this dinner plate as a side, they call a tostada -.- I did get an extra order of fajita beef burrito.... It was decent. My little sister didn't enjoy the food either so I had to order her a side of chips and queso. The only appealing thing about this place is the salsa bar and tea. It seems they do sell the tea by gallons so if I ever do come back, it's to take a gallon of tea home, no food. I usually never waste food or at least take it home to eat later, but besides my baby sis' chips and cheese, I left more than half my order to waste. So it's upsetting to waste $20 when you barely ate anything or enjoyed your food :(

The food at Rosa's is worth the price; it's cheap as dirt so keep your expectations low. It's easy to get burned out on Rosa's because every item on the menu tastes about the same. A visit every other month or so is about as much Rosa's as I can take. I would suggest the soft taco plate and sophillas. I would stay away from the tamales because they are Pedro's Tamales (which are great!!) but you can buy them at the supermarket for 1/4 of the price. Tortillas and queso would be a good item if you are not too hungry but are getting drug to Rosa's.

Amazing food, great atmosphere, fast service. It's a bit pricey but the rest of what I listed makes up for that

Rosa's is amazing! They have great in-house made tortilla's that you can get at the drive thru and take home yourself. Or you can eat in and experience their great Mexican food. I had like a platter type thing with several different things... enchiladas, burritos, beans, rice etc. The food was very good. This is definitely a top notch Mexican food place!

Rosas is some of the best food at affordable prices in Lubbock. Very welcoming environment and the tortillas are to die for. Recommend the fajita plates!

Try Rosa's and learn how much a difference fresh, made-in-front-of-your-eyes tortillas make in Tex-Mex. You'll never go back. Try the fajita plate, simply fantastic.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
