The sushi is always fresh, the staff is very friendly and the price is hard to beat. You can find cheaper places to eat, but the food won't be as fresh. only knock, is that sometimes the dipping sauces or wasabi is missing from the togo order, but the bento-boxes and sushi are so good, we keep coming back.

Went there on Saturday night with my wife. Chose location since it's near our home. Place is Whole Foods strip, facing Grand Parkway, next to Jersey Mikes. The atmosphere is more casual with two giant screens showing college football game which is good for me but not so much for my wife . Ordered eel and salmon sashimi and house special sushi. Food is good, not great but for $40 it's comparable to other sushi places. This is more family and sports bar feel so that's alright for me. The only complaint I had is Unami (eel) has two pieces per for $4.75 when other places will give more pieces. See photo of what was ordered.

Went on a Thursday night and the place had several other sushi lovers enjoying there meals. Ambiance was very nice as well. Clean and friendly staff. Now the sushi was super fresh and off the hook good. Some of the best shisimi I have ever had. I got Yellow Tail and Conch (conch was chewy, but I was expecting that, would get again) piece are larger than I expected which was a pleasure surprise. My friend went with Super White Tune (the real deal here and delicious) as well as the Yellow Tail. They have a mega assortment of rolls (both full size and half size) my friend got several but the one that sounded the most interesting was the Bunny roll. He didn't like it, but I did. Lucky me! The Bunny has lobster on top with an different cilantro butter mayonnaise sauce. Its not for everyone so you my want to go with a small roll. I got a small Skydiver roll (soft shell crab on inside and topped with EEL!) Real like it. Small Dancing Dragon good fresh fish don't recall what type. Last thing was the Sashimi Tiramias (not a roll, but under the special roll section) comes in a dish has white tuna, tuna, salmon, mango and a good sauce. Different but I like it. To top it all off they had Mochi ice cream! Real good Mochi too. Will definitely be back!

A lot of variety in rolls, the sashimi in the chirashi was fresh and nicely sliced, service was good, typical sushi bar but don't think it is a authentic japanese place but still good, will come back and try the other rolls

It wasn't too busy for a Sunday and it was a little bit past lunch time but I was told I can sit anywhere. I decided on getting the lunch special where I can pick up to 3 sushi rolls from lunch special area. I chose to pick the Tom, Green Fuji, and Atlantic Maki rolls. The lunch special comes with salad and miso soup. Normally when I order rolls that has philly cheese in them, all I can taste is the cheese and not the fish. But I was able to taste the smoked salmon that were in my rolls. The salmon was fresh, good, and melted in my mouth. Even the tempura shrimp in one of the rolls I ordered tasted fresh. I finished off my meal with an espresso pie (a slice of an espresso ice cream flavored cake with cookie crust). LOVED IT. Tasted like coffee and chocolate and it didn't taste like something you would buy from a supermarket.

Decent sushi but the prices are a bit steep. I usually get the fried rice or a rice platter. I ordered the salmon bowl and chicken fried rice and they're alright. The sushi is usually a hit or miss. This place has been described as a knock off of Sushi Hanna so just keep that in mind. Another thing is that I paid for my food and they gave us back NO change. I'm not sure why that happened. I should've received around $3.50 back but they decided to keep it all. That is very rude. I should've gotten all my change back then I should decide what I get to do with my money. I was very disappointed. I waited there for service but I got no help. We left and that was that. I would've tipped them but they shouldn't just keep my money without my permission. Watch out and pay exact money if possible! They will keep your money and not even blink about it. Very disappointed in this. Besides the money and the average sushi, some waitresses can be very nice and helpful. It all depends on who you get which day. However, keep your eyes open and watch out!

This place is over rated. I understand they need to make a profit, but a sushi restaurant that slices their fish paper thin is just outrageous. The tuna on the roll was so thin it was see through. This place is owned and operated by Chinese. Don't get me wrong, I'm Chinese myself but I don't go to Chinese owned sushi places. The Japanese and Korean sushi chefs would be disgraced if they saw this. When I told the waitress, the chef came over. He did not come over to apologize, he came to tell me that if he cut the fish thicker the roll would fall apart. He then continued to ask me how thick should the fish be cut? I told him if he thought this was acceptable, then go ahead and run your business this way, but as a customer, this was unacceptable. Then he told me he would cut 2 more pieces of fish, as if that was going to smooth things over (eyes rolling). He made it sound like he was doing me a favor. His attitude and customer service totally sucks! I outright told him I wasn't coming back. Honestly, the food here is mediocre at best. The skimping is a sure way to run down your business.

I walked in with my family. Waited at least 10 mins for a hostess to come and greet us. Sushi was okay. Fried rice and yaki noodles had no taste at all. The bartender was so loud that it was uncomfortable for my kids. Seemed like he was drunk I wanted to try this place because I usually eat at sushi Hanna and wanted something new So if you want best Japanese food in Katy Sushi Hanna it is

I normally order Teppan entrees here and sushi rolls. The teppan chicken and steak are pretty good, nothing special but not terrible. I think the sushi is excellent though and fairly generous - not tiny pieces of fish engulfed in rice. It's always been fresh every time I've been there. The only reason I wouldn't give 5 stars is they can be short-staffed sometimes and service gets slow. The staff has never been unattentive (they don't forget about me), but they could definitely use more people at busy times. I noticed they advertise delivery, but I can't imagine who would do the delivering!

Nice to have another sushi spot near home, but we left disappointed. While the portions were wonderful the taste was lacking. I had the Ryan Roll and my husband had the skydiver. I also had the salmon sashimi. Don't get me wrong. It wasn't terrible. Just won't be a spot a frequent.

I never thought I would say this about a sushi restaurant in Katy but the sushi and other items on the menu are excellent. Jason the owner is friendly and accommodating. It's nice to know a quality restaurant such as this exists in my backyard. LOVE this place!!!!!

Came here for lunch last Sunday, waited so long to get a seat even though they were not busy at all, really bad first impression. Sushi were not fresh and pricey, not a good dining experience at all, i will NOT go back!!! There are many more better Sushi places in Houston

Good sushi and pleasant casual atmosphere. We found the restaurant on our route home. So glad we did! The waitress was attentive. The food was flavorful, and the owner was very gracious. We are glad we discovered your sushi.

Absolutely the best sushi place I have been to. Not only do they have very fresh fish but the atmosphere is set up for a good time. Anytime a friend wants sushi, I recommend this place first! Can not go wrong :) ive been going here for awhile. Love Jason, Rudy, and Edgar! Just missing Simon! Go to this place. You won't be sorry!

Came here with some friends to try out this new hidden restaurant, around the corner of Worlds Market. Sushi here were FRESH! I love it when a sushi restaurant uses fresh grated wasabi. Generous cuts of the sashimi and also reasonable priced. The owner was behind the sushi bar when I came and I had no idea what to order. I'm a very indecisive person. So I told him just to surprise me with sashimi. I started with the peppered tuna and garlic white tuna. The garlic was not over powering, just perfect. Then I had my first experience of monkfish on top of seared scallop. This is a must try dish. The sashimi were all thick cut, just the way I like it.

Nagoya is a rare find. This outstanding restaurant boasts two creative chef's, Jason and Edgar. Just ask then to make you something and you will not be disappointed. These guys are not only great chef's but fun to be with. With their creative offerings and colorful personalities, they make the sushi bar the place to be. It's also an excellent place for your family to come together for dinner. Whatever your taste palate prefers, their menu has something for you. The Japanese kitchen, wonderful wait staff, and comfortable surroundings will beckon your return. Try therm once and you be back, again and again . . .

Jason the owner has done it again! He opened the original location off west green and i10 and 5 months ago opened a new location at grand parkway and fry. Everything is fresh, fast and delicious. I won't eat sushi anywhere else.

This place gets two stars for the service and soy sauce.. The waitress is nice but the sushi sucks.. The sashimi sucked and the rolls that came with the combo was basically rice and seaweed.. The salad was rotten and old.. I would not recommend this place.. We just wanted to try a new sushi place and we will not be returning.. Kira Sushi on Mason is a lot better if you're in the area

The restaurant is nice decorated for Christmas . Even though servers were busy , they are really polite to let us know about it . It is understanding to wait a little bit longer for the food to come out . I can't understand how people gave a bad review for Nagoya . If the customers knew how hard the servers were trying to get every orders in , I couldn't think anybody will doing it . In my opinion, this is the most friendly restaurant to come and enjoy for cheap food and friendly servers.

food extremely salty. Waiter not helpful. Ordered Groper too much batter, sauce was just onions and peppers. Didn't make since. Had to get my own silverware.

*MY FAV 5*...JASON (pretty cool guy...so proud of him) , EDGAR (great guy! Spectacular chef) SUSHI NAGITOS (little bite size sashimi tacos with a burst of fresh flavors...hmmm:-), Sashimi Salad (always tasty & fresh!) & last but not least an absolute beautifully prepared Mackerel Sashimi dish that is to die for...more like to live for! It's an off the menu item...it has to be ordered in advance. Definitely worth the wait! *MY FAV 5*....#Priceless

This was a little bit of a disappointment. The atmosphere was great, the service adequate. The food was almost good: tempura batter too heavy, sashimi too thick and a touch mealy. It wasn't bad, but could use a few tweeks before we return.

Had lunch there today and ate the Salmon Bento Box. It was great, It started with a miso soup and then a salad. Then they brought out the Bento Box which had 6 pieces of sushi, a spring roll, tempura veggies, tempura shrimp, wasabi, pickled ginger, a dipping sauce, and a salmon filet. all for $8.95. I thought it was delicious and a great deal.

We've been going here once a week since it opened. The quality depends on which sushi chef you get. There's two guys that have glasses, but the one that is more petite and quiet has consistently disappointed us the last 4 times we've gone. For example, today I got a roll with salmon in it, but the fish was tough and chewy. It even make a crunchy sound when I chewed! I had to spit it out because my teeth couldn't bite through it. Someone else at the table had salmon sashimi and you could tell it was cut the wrong way because it was stringy and you couldn't see the lighter lines of fat. One piece had a little hard white crunchy thing attached to it. Another order had two rolls that were completely wrong. This is the exact same experience we continue to have with this particular sushi chef and have decided to stop going to this location. Very sad because if you get Jason or the other guy, it's the best in town.

This is my FAVORITE sushi place in town. Jason, Edgar and the wait staff are always so nice and accommodating. Their recommendations are spot on, but they always are willing to make my roll to my exact specifications. Ask for Lola's Passion for the off menu roll they make for me. I had the Kobe Beef Roll tonight and Gyoza soup. The soup was, "better than sex"! I've been eyeing the Kobe Beef Roll for weeks on their specials menu, but finally had it tonight. It was so tasty and I loved the Lamborghini sauce! Thanks again, Jason, for always making me feel like I'm sitting in your own kitchen!!!

Our waiter was top notch, however the food experience was not. First off the background music was loud Rock music. I love rock music, but a sushi restaurant is not the venue for it. A more subtle instrumental only type of music would serve better. Next, the sushi rice was flavorless, the nigiri tasted old and the sashimi pieces were too large. Their sunomono was nothing more then regular American cucumbers cut up in large, thick unattractive pieces. We chose the octopus sunomono, and while the Octopus was tender, the dish should have had Japanese cucumbers which are smaller and have less seeds. There was not even a touch of the pickled or vinegar flavor that is in a sunomono dish. This visit was highly disappointing. The only reason I give it two stars is due to our waiter being very attentive.

This location has been open for nearly a year. My friends and I are "big" sushi fans and eat here at least 2-3 times a month. Favorite dishes are pepper tuna "appetizer", goya soup, himachi w/jalepeno and tuna tostada. Sushi is fresh and good portions. Jason and Edgar are attentive and will give you good recommendations if you want to try something new. Service is a little slow at times.

Great food, friendly service. Came here for the first time. The waiter was friendly and answered many questions for us. Started with some miso soup and a salad. Both tasted fresh and delicious. The Jason roll was next. A big roll with nice sized chunks of fish and avocado. A real treat. I would get this again. Finally, the Udon Tempura. The portion was enough for 2 or 3 people. A very large bowl of broth, filled with fresh vegetables including zucchini, onions, mushrooms, as well as some awesome udon noodles. This is served with a side dish of 3 shrimp tempura and a few tempura vegetables. This is a lot of food. Bring a friend. Others at the table had the shrimp tempura dinner, and a chicken teriyaki bento box. The shrimp tempura dinner was impressive. Served with miso soup and salad. There were 7 tempura shrimp. Crispy (not greasy). Also plenty of tempura vegetables including egg plant, and squash. Comments at the table were all positive. After trying the excellent Jason roll, I am looking forward to coming back and trying an assortment of rolls and sashimi.

THIS Is by far my favorite Japanese restaurant it's literally 10 mins or less from my house. Jason, the owner, is very accommodating as well as his staff. The best time to come here is Monday through Friday 3-6pm for HAPPY HOUR SUSHI PRICES best ones I've seen $3-$5 rolls (8 pieces each) and it includes specialty rolls that would usually cost you $12 per roll anywhere else. The hubs and I always order crazy roll, spider roll, salmon avocado roll, and dragon roll they are sooo good. Ask for the basil sauce that they make there and spicy bonzu sauce to dip with. We have become regulars now and each time we go we are never disappointed always FRESH. They will also make whatever you ask for. From the specialty roll selection I chose sushi king roll and it was phenomenal as well as the black widow. Come here for happy hour you will not be disappointed!!!!

I'm not one who really cares for sushi or crave it often. But when I do get a craving for it, I must go to Nagoya for their sashimi tar tar!! I love it. Tastes fresh and the chip they serve it on is delicious as well. The sushi is reasonably priced and tastes delicious.

  • Lee J.

Service couldn't be any slower. Really needs work. We overheard the didn't have a bus boy tonight. That and the chipped appetizer plate, slow service and bad bar might lead you to believe thee are management problems which is something to watch out for especially in a sushi place. Could lead to slacking standards. Don't let hat negative stuff make up your mind, though! That being said, food was great. Menus are a little confusing. Sushi is on a separate menu from the rest of the food. Once we figured that out we were all set. As I said, food was great. I recommend the Hawaiian roll and the sashimi appetizers tartar rocked! Wanted to order more but will save it for next time. I ordered a Cosmo which should be pretty standard. It couldn't have been worse. We will give it another chance because the food was really great. Stay tuned.

I wish I lived in the West Houston area near Katy. I've never been to a Japanese restaurant with so many pluses - authentic Japanese-made food, tasty flavors to please everyone's palate, friendly and attentive staff, and conveniently located near major thoroughfares (Grand Parkway, Westpark Tollway and Katy Freeway). I am all into noodles. My tempura udon tasted so incredible. The noodles were uniformly flavored with variety of fresh vegetables and shitake broth. Tempura shrimp and squash were light and crunchy. A delicious meal is never complete without a cup of tea. The Japanese green tea was served in a monster cup and I had a couple of refills. Thanks to Cherry A for introducing Nagoya Sushi to me. I would also like to give extra kudos to chef Jason, for his culinary artistry and talents in creations with unforgettable flavors.

I am always in the mood for perfect sushi. For me, it's all about the sushi rice and texture, and this place gets it right, every time. I have been here at least 5 times, and everything I've ordered and nibbled off of others' plate have been divine. Let me tell you what I've had: 1. Soft shell crab roll. Perfectly battered and fried and nestled in rice and wrapped in seaweed. OMG, so good. No soy sauce needed. 2. Unagi roll. Melt in your mouth good. The sweet sauce is a perfect compliment. 3. Salmon, Tuna, California rolls = all worth an order or three. Get them. Got a sweet tooth? You know you do. Try these: 1. Red bean mochi. Rice gummy on the outside and red bean ice cream inside is creamy and slightly sweet. 2. Mango sorbet. Wow, this will surprise you! It will transport you to a tropical paradise. Sit at the sushi bar and chat it up with Chef Edgar or Chef Jason and they will have you in stitches, they are quite entertaining. Or if you're so inclined, order some non-sushi: 1. Fried rice 2. Noodle dishes I have had friends who have ordered these and after a nibble or three, I can see why they keep coming back. I do love this place so much, that I will host a celebration UYE here, for next Saturday, April 19, 2014, so come on out!

Dropped in to check out this place, we loved the sushi at the west green location, but have heard of pest issues in those buildings. This location was brand new, service was great....and the sushi tasted fresh. We had the lunch combo (spicy crunch roll and a 1/2 shaggy dog) salad was crisp, the miso soup was a little bland, other than that the food was good!

I came here with some friends and ordered the Shaggy Dog and California rolls (I wasn't feeling too adventurous). Took about 20 min to get a table at 6pm on a busy night, which was no problem. The hostess was very kind and offered us a beverage while we waited and told us the waiting time. Once we were seated a waitress came by after about 5 minutes and got our drink orders and then our meal orders. At this point the place was pretty good, friendly staff, knowledgable about the menu, and the place had a decent atmosphere. When our sushi rolls came out (about 15 min later) I started to become unimpressed. The California rolls were the smallest I have ever seen and they weren't put together very well. The Pink Lady rolls were also just so-so and not very well made. After our meal it took for-EVER to get a waitresses attention to get our check. For the price of three small sushi plates and a fried rice it was about $27; decent and fit for what the meal was. Overall, once your order has been taken don't expect any service and as far as the sushi goes... well, just find another sushi bar.

I am not going to lie, but this review may be a tad biased because I went here with a sushi snob friend and she continually criticized everything about it. I feel that the foods I ordered tasted great and I had a pleasant food experience. My only complaint would be the service. Our waitress was most likely new, but did not know anything about the menu. And when our sashimi tower came out, we waited a good 15 minutes because we thought she would mix it for us. After finally flagging her down, she told us we are not suppose to mix it but just pick at it...interesting method of eating a sushi tower when every single sushi establishment I've ever been to mixes the tower for you...I asked her if we could have 2 spoons anyway, since it is the way we were accustomed to eating these towers. She rolled her eyes and took another 15 minutes to come back with one spoon and one FORK. Does she not know what a spoon is? Or did she forget because her memory cannot span 15 minutes? Okay, that was rude, but I was starving since I had been staring at my mouthwatering food for 30 minutes waiting for some service. Then when my friend asked if they had uni, she said that they didn't have any fresh uni. But on the menu, they had "sea urchin" and my friend asked if that was different and she said yes, they had that. My friend thought it was odd since "uni" and "sea urchin" are usually the same thing but didn't question it. Then she came back to our table and impatiently stated, "I already told you we were out of this." Don't need your attitude lady! In summary, the food is pretty good, but you should definitely sit at the bar because the service will ruin your experience.

This is my favourite Japanese restaurant to eat at in Katy. The owner does well to bring the authentic flavours of his homeland to Katy and we're lucky to have him. All the seafood is hand selected and super fresh. They have all kinds of crazy sushi roll combos, but me? I'm a traditionalist. I like the salmon nigiri. We had the fatty tuna nigiri once which was phenomenal, but at $12 a piece that's just for special occasions. Last night we did the special fried rice, with miso soup and salad, salmon and tuna nigiri, tempura vegetables, gyoza, and an avocado roll. Take-out took nothing away from the simple flavours of high quality food and we will be back again soon. They have a bar at the front for folks to watch TV and talk with the great guys who work here but my wife and I usually opt for a booth. All the wait staff are extremely professional and efficient aside from the occasional noob. Having been to Japan it's really nice to find food of a similar quality just a stone's throw from home ...if only we could get some real wagyu steaks, Jason?

I love coming to Nagoya when I'm in Katy meeting the parentals. They have a pretty extensive sushi menu with great selections, and reasonable prices. While I'm usually more of a sashimi person and not terribly experimental with the rolls given my aversion to condiments on sushi, one of my favorite specialty rolls here is the Jungle Roll with pepper tuna and jalapeño. Heightened levels of YUM! The food does take a pretty long time to come, but given the quality, I would say it's worth the wait.

Two out of the last three times I have ordered carry out from this restaurant they left out part of the order. Once I drove back to the restaurant to pick it up. The second time we ordered over the phone, went to pick it up and they said they never received the order. Had to wait 10 minutes for them to get it ready, got home and found out they left out part of the order again. I called them to let them know, and they said they would take care of me on the next order. Taking care of me meant a 10% discount. Beware of the service at this restaurant, it is terrible. They seem more interested in talking to each other than taking care of their customers. I won't be back.

Had lunch with a Katy friend and she told me this was the best place for sushi in the area. It was delicious! Variety of items on their menu, I didn't know what to pick. I got the Angel roll and the Sweet Mama roll. We also had the Edamame, Shrimp and Veggie tempura, both great! I will definitely stop by again!

This was my first time here and I had the Teriyaki Beef Bento Box for lunch, to be honest I was not that impress with the foods but it wasn't bad either. It was over an all right experience. I can't complain much, you get what you pay for. The price was reasonable for the foods. The meat was a bit dry, the miso soups were not that great either, but their salads were good. Our waiter was also very nice so I like that.

So far so good. This time our Waiter has done a good job being attentive to us. The restaurant can be a little chaotic during the weekend nights, but tonight hasn't been too bad. However, we ordered some Tempura for an appetizer and it took a little too long to receive it. As a matter of fact, one of the Sushi rolls came out first before the Tempura appetizer. A couple of minutes later, the rest of our food had arrived. Everything tastes great!! Great job by our Server tonight (Darren).

OMG! If you haven't been to Nagoya off of 99 and Fry Rd., you haven't lived. Sit at the bar and have a drink with the chefs! Edgar, Julio, and Jason make this place spectacular! They'll make anything you want and they always make you feel at home. The sushi is absolutely the best I've had in the Houston area. Why are you still reading this? Go now! :)

I've came here a few times with my family and it's our usual go-to sushi spot. We prefer this over Sushi Hana since the last times I've been there, the fish has oddly been fishy. However, I've had quite good experiences with Nagoya's fish quality. The owner Jason is extremely friendly and if you sit in the sushi bar, he'll cater to your sushi preferences. I've been very impressed with their food and fish quality even though the appearance of the restaurant is quite casual. From my dining experience here I highly suggest the appetizers: spicy edamame, hamachi Kama, pepper tuna, or special seared salmon. I do not recommend the coconut shrimp wonton puffs. I am more of a sushi/rolls person than ordering kitchen food so I haven't tried much of the cooked entrees. Jason suggested I order the DNA roll and that was very delicious! My family also got a half size of the bunny roll which was so good as well. My family and I will probably be coming back!

It was OK however not my favorite. The service was excellent though. The sushi was so-so. The cuts of the sushi are huge which is nice although I found them almost too big for the rice they were sitting on. The taste and consistency was OK. Not the best but it was edible. We ended up eating the pieces of fish sashimi style and nixing the rice which was better diet-wise in the long run I guess. The rolls were interesting. The spicy tuna roll was good although the Dirty Harry roll was not rolled tightly enough and everything fell out. I would not recommend the Dirty Harry roll. The noodles were good as well as the tempura. Stick with the beer and wine for drinks as the mixed drinks were not drinkable. Not too much alcohol, too sweet. One thing I'd say is that the soy sauce dishes are too small so it's hard to fit a piece of sushi or roll in there to dip it. I am 50/50 on returning although I am glad we tried it.

Everything was great. Laid back, lots of people enjoying themselves but never unwelcome. Chef's ended up as part of a very fun conversation and will be back soon. Great sushi -+ fun people = weekly return! Love sushi & this was a spur of the moment option that I wish I made months ago.

Good atmosphere and great food. I always get the sake don which is a box of salmon over sticky rice. I've been eating Jason's food for almost ten years and have yet to be disappointed!

So many different choices for rolls, all of the ones I had were delicious! Great chefs with great personality.

Pleased with the quality of the food at this restaurant. The combo fried rice is delicious. They have a great Happy Hour during the week with rolls priced between $3-$5 that taste delicious. The miso soup and house salad are very tasty too. Highly recommend it.

I wasn't as impressed with this place as some of the reviews I read. The sushi rolls I ordered were sub par, at best. Maybe the other items on their menu taste better than their rolls. But I probably won't give it another shot. Our server was a bit awkward and confused with how to do her job. Although she might have had good intentions, I found it odd she lingered and watched me pick at my food that I ended up not enjoying.

Always great! Jason and his staff are always helpful & willing to give recommendations. I love the sashimi tiramisu, and there are unique rolls, sushi, sashimi to make anyone happy. I like that they offer half orders of the rolls so you can try a lot of different flavors. There's also a ton of options for someone who likes their food cooked. Great place for foodies & novices, alike.

My new favorite neighborhood spot! The food is excellent. On top of that, you will not find friendlier service anywhere. You are made to feel welcome from the moment you walk in. Jason is an artist with the food. Order the fresh uni for a treat.

Much better than Sushi Hanna! Everyone at Nagoya is friendly! They have fantastic specialty sauces too -just ask. Tuna sashimi - absolutely the best around!!

My first UYE and had a great time! I do not eat sushi but the chicken fried rice and pork dumplings were amazing! For dessert the Mango Sorbet is a must! I do have to say that I have never received such wonderful service at a restaurant. Jason is on point! I will definitely be back and soon!

Love this place! I usually go to the one in Westgreen Gardens but I decided to come by and check this one out. I love the bar and everything is clean and delicious!!! Keep up the good work, Jason!

The food here is still good, but the service has declined drastically. Half of our table got their drinks 20 minutes later than the first half, and that was only after reminding the waitress twice. It took the waitress 10 minutes just to come pickup our bill, and the place barely had any people in it.

Happy Hour and Lunch Specials are very good for the price. I love going then. Going for anything other than that, probably not worth it. Also, the service isn't very good, so just be wary that you may be sitting there a while.

So glad to have found this sushi spot! Took some out of towners here and everything we got was delish. Spicy edamame was the bomb, soft shell crab fried perfectly, peppered tuna was super fresh, spicy chopped scallop was smooth like butter. House roll was good too! Enjoy!

Apparently I posted my original review to the wrong Nagoya Sushi. THIS is the location I actually visited! -- I don't venture out into Katy very much, but I have driven all over Houston for food, so I figured it was only a matter of time before I tried Nagoya. I generally am fairly wary of budget sushi restaurants - I know good sushi does not necessarily have to cost an arm and a leg, but most of the time, you do get what you pay for. I was pleasantly surprised when I dined at Nagoya a few nights ago. When my husband and I try new sushi restaurants, we usually opt for sashimi and sushi instead of fancy rolls - it's a good way to assess the freshness of the fish and the knife skills of the chef, since there is no sauce to mask the taste of the fish. We shared the sashimi and sushi platter from the "dinner specials" section of their menu. It was a reasonable $29.99, and the salmon and tuna were sliced well and freshly prepared. We also tried an assortment of appetizers - I loved the seared salmon with avocado and mango. And don't skip dessert, the red bean mochi and mango sorbet is excellent. The mango sorbet was served in a hollowed out mango, just like in upscale tropical resorts! There is also a great selection of both hot and cold sakes, if you'd like a drink to enjoy with your meal. Jason (the owner and chef) and his team took very good care of us - I definitely commend them for their hospitality and attention to detail throughout the night. I will check out the udon noodles and specialty rolls the next time I'm here.

This review is LONG OVERDUE! I walked out of here disappointed. I didn't even care to order and pay for food because I ordered water with lemon and when I took a sip it tasted like chlorine! So, makes me wonder if they clean their food and dishes with the same nasty water! I couldn't believe it! Never again will I step foot in this place.

Great food! Great atmosphere! Great customer service! We have been here a couple of times and they do not disappoint. Casual and very welcoming to children. All in all, when in the area, this is our go to place.

We were debating between Sushi Hana and here for my bday dinner, so we chose here since we've never been and it was closer to HEB for grocery shopping. Restaurant is simple and quaint. They had the Lychee Martinis for $5 on their board that night. They had made it a little too strong...I know most people want it that way, but I actually want to taste some lychee in my drink. So they gladly remade it, and it tasted much better. We ordered the coconut shrimp wonton...it was basically a cream cheese Rangoon with some mango sauce drizzled on top. If I had known that, I wouldn't have eaten it since I don't care for cream cheese...but I noticed there was no shrimp in there either. We mainly ordered sashimi...Escolar, Salmon, Smoked Salmon, Unagi, and Chopped Scallops. Pieces were a very generous side, but it just didn't taste fresh to me...it felt a little mushy...didn't melt in my mouth. I don't know...this place just didn't do it for me.

Pleasantly surprised. Great place for fresh and tasty sushi. Met the head chef Jason who we learned was Sushi Hana's head chef for 8 years until the owner passed away. He was very friendly and we will definitely be back for some great tasting sushi!

I am not Chinese or Japanese or Korean, I'm an American with a very critical and distinguished palate. I believe that sushi is an artful delicacy that should be prepared by experienced sushi chefs (Like Jason...who studied sushi in Japan since he was 15) I believe that sushi is NOT about large chunks of raw fish (as stated by another reviewer). It's about exceptionally fresh and delicate fish slices, arranged tastefully and artfully as to not only quench your thirst for the delicacy, but also delight your senses with a beautiful presentation. I've been a customer of Nagoya Sushi on S. Fry for a year now and Jason always impresses me and my family. It makes me sad when I see people write negative reviews because they wanted fatter sushi or they had to wait a few extra minutes. I have never found the wait to be a problem. Our favorite pieces are the Angel Roll, the Godzilla Roll and the Monster Roll. I also Love the spicy garlic edamame (ask for it) and the Gyoza! We always love the dishes that Jason prepares specially for us too. Over all, the food is fresh and creative and delicious. Everyone's taste are different! Tell Jason what you like and TRUST him to take care of you. You won't be disappointed. Note- another reviewer made reference to the fact that Jason is not Japanese. I can identify with the concern of having Chinese sushi. However, Jason lived and studied sushi making in Japan for many years. Which is why you can expect a more traditionally Japanese culinary experience. Keep up the great work Nagoya. You are an asset to Katy area dining.

I wanted to try a closer place for sushi and i had heard some good things about this place. The staff was friendly and the beef appetizer was good but it took a long time to get. The sushi ok although the chefs were quite busy drinking while they were making it. I also had the beef bento which i hardly ate. The tempura had no taste and the beef was tough. I was disappointed with the quality of the food but the wait staff was friendly and helpful.

When this location first opened it was absolutely delicious. My husband and I enjoyed dinner here weekly. However, the last few times we've gone it's been terribly inconsistent. We've tried many different rolls and shashimi. Out of our last 5 visits, at least one roll we ordered didn't match the description on the menu. Most recently I ordered the Tokyo Roll, which should have jumbo lump crab, cream cheese, and eel. It was mostly rice and tempura batter. The rolls have still tasted okay for the most part, but I'm always disappointed when I don't get what I'm expected. On the bright side, the ika sansai salad is delicious every time.
