I came here recently with my parents and I LOVED it! I ordered "the tex" which included 2 enchiladas and a 6oz filet. It was soooooo good! You share the sides with your table and we got the whipped Yukon gold potatoes, the caramelized cauliflower, and the roasted baby carrots. Everything was perfect. To top it off, we ordered the baked Alaska for dessert (plenty to take home) and since we were there for a family occasion, they brought us out a big piece of pink cotton candy in a martini glass!

Food really wasn't good at all for the price. My family left very disappointed. Nice decor & service, but that's all.

The food and service were top notch. I went with a large business crowd and the table was handled beautifully. The food was the usual steakhouse fare done with excellence! I had the seabass - or should I say "melt in your mouth seabass". Oh yea! As others have said, the bar staff knows their stuff; they were able to nail a perfectly fitting bottle of wine just through my describing the flavor characteristics I enjoy. Oh yea, I'll be back!

I came here for Houston Restaurant Weeks with some friends. For the four course tasting menu, I had the: quail-which was really good, gumbo ($9 supplement)-didn't like it at all, the filet ($14 supplement)-not that flavorful, and banana pudding-above average banana pudding. We also ordered off of the regular menu truffled mac and cheese- good truffle flavor but no actual truffles and tableside bananas foster-which was bomb dot com. Bananas foster and HRW prices pushed the rating to 4 instead of 3. I think if I had paid regular price, I would have been a bit disappointed. Service was good, as we had several different people checking on us throughout the night.

SO GOOD. My husband and I went here for a nice date and we were blown away. The food is delicious. I had pasta and he got the bone in filet. That's right, bone in filet. It is hands down the best steak we've ever had. We will definintely be back here!!

We went there with a party of 9 for the first time and everything was fantastic. Service was exceptional and all the dishes everyone ordered was great. I had the 12 oz filet, very very tender and delicious. My mother in law ordered the special, fried soft shell crab and she enjoyed it. We will definitely be returning.

My daughter and I shared a wonderful lunch date at Vallones today. There was only one other couple sitting nearby. The restaurant is lovely, great ambiance. Our table was near the fireplace. We enjoyed the cioppino, chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and the truffles Mac and cheese and Apple pie and drinks. There was a short wait on food, probably because the place was empty. The waitress was friendly. The dessert was delicious. My daughter enjoyed her steak. The cioppino was just average tasting. I definitely wouldn't reorder. Lunch prices were reasonable. Our lunch bill was $53. We will definitely return.

Came here with my husband for an quick bite and a drink to start off date night. We sat in the bar and ordered drinks: "Old Fashioned" - My husband said it was the best Old Fashioned he has had, it was perfectly made both times. Yupp, he ended up having a second! "Glass of wine"- I am far from a wine expert but the bartender walked me though the wine list and offered numerous reccomendations that seemed genuine to my description of what I liked. It didnt seem scripted and/or pushy. My husband had a Steak and I had the Soft Shell Crab special. This will be our new spot for drinks and eats! Food, drinks, service, and style... what a perfect night!

Went for the $9.95 chicken fried steak lunch that comes with mashed potatoes with white country gravy. Delicious but total food coma afterwards. We also had the chocolate cake tower which was very thick and rich full of chocolate ganache. Total lunch for 2 and a shared dessert was under $40 bucks. Yeah! They also have a 2 course lunch for $18 too.

Excellent food and even better service. I first went to Vallone's for a luncheon upstairs. It was a huge group - so usually you get a generic flavorless chicken with a side of mixed veggies. Not at Vallone's. We had 3 options. Most chose the red snapper. It was lightly fried with artichoke hearts and this heavenly sauce. It was so good. While it was slow (I've since returned for other luncheons and they've improved timing), everything was delicious. The staff was very welcoming. Based on that experience, I've decided this would be one of my go to client lunch locations. I've now been back several times. The food is always fantastic and stellar service.

Where should i begin! what an awful Valentine's day! I should have minded the reviews here because I had the same issues. We were not made felt valuable for having paid 95 bucks a person, plus the sides were 11 dollars extra! Service was awful and the uniforms are atrocious food was horrendous i have had better steak saltgrass. I did not see a smile or great attitude on any of the waitstaff we never felt comfortable. Attn managers if ur staff isnt happy because you arent a good leader then your customers? forget about it. Go to goode co and see what real customer service and good food is all about. Somebody said Tony Vallone should know better.. Damn straight.

Now here is a restaurant that I really enjoyed. It has probably been two decades since I last was at the Vallone's in the Galleria. As a matter of fact prior to finding them on HRW I thought they had closed. I went there for lunch around 2pm and decided to sit in the lounge as opposed to the main dining room. Even though there was only one other table, and they were almost finished, the service was very sporadic at best. For lunch I chose the Braised Beef Tortellini which were amazing, flavor was excellent and the Cognac sauce is exceptional. For my second course I had the Hanger steak, which was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I really could not have asked for a better dish. For dessert I opted for the much talked about banana pudding, while really good, it was a bit too sweet for my taste. The food is really exceptional, the service was a bit lacking and I even had to remind the server that I would like some bread, but I guess it could have been due to the fact that I arrived late for lunch and he was taking care of the bar patrons. When I go back I would probably choose the main dining room.

This is for their HRW 2015 menu. First off, this place is very pretty. I would recommend guys to take their ladies here on a date. However, the food is just okay. I really want to like this place a lot because it's a Tony Vallone restaurant... and you would think the food here is spectacular. Anyway, I was only okay about it. The lasting impression I have here is their red velvet cake and how it tastes like it's been sitting in the fridge for a few days. Yes, it was not appetizing and it looked like a cake from Chucky Cheese. Not impressed at all. A friend of mine warned me about getting that cake (because... you know... I LOVE red velvet) and I insisted because how can Vallone's screw it up?! Well, they did. Off their 4 course HRW menu, I tried their corn raviolini, wedge salad, chicken involtini, and snowball cake (and red velvet cake). The corn raviolini was amazing! Tiny little square pasta stuffed with corn filling. I wish that was my meal because it was that good. The wedge salad was just okay and it wasn't a wedge. The salad was a halved lettuce with fixings on the top. My friend and I were disappointed because we were expecting an actual wedge. Anyway, the chicken involtini was okay. Very filling and very flavorful, but not something I would want to go back for. The snowball cake is a coconut cake with a marshmallow cream top, which is topped with a pink cotton candy. It was very pretty to look at, but the cake was just okay. It didn't make me want to go back in for another bite like how I normally would with a good cake. And then the red velvet... sigh. Overall, service and presentation was great. I was just not impressed with this restaurant and the food they served (other than the raviolini). Do I recommend it? Not really, but you can try it out for yourself and see. There's self parking in the garage if you don't want to valet.

I came here with my sisters and her two friends for HRW. It's a beautiful restaurant near Memorial City Mall. Great service! They were very attentive and nice. I chose the corn ravioli, summer salad, and "The Tex" which is a filet with cheese enchiladas. Loved the corn ravioli, because it tasted like truffle oil :) the summer salad was alright. My filet was good and the cheese enchiladas were fine. It's a nice restaurant, but the concept seems confused. Fresh pasta to enchiladas to modern American? My red velvet was sad. It didn't taste like anything and it looked like a cake that was thrown together last minute.

We had a decent experience here with great service and good food. We came here for Houston Restaurant Weeks and tried their featured menu. Even though the braised short rib tortellini was like eating mush inside pasta, the cognac sauce over it was good. The salmon was cooked to perfection, but the squash succotash it sat atop was like a pumpkin overload. I didn't like it with my salmon. Their cheese enchiladas were amazing and the 6 oz filet it came with was tender and delicious. Now to desserts. The banana pudding was tasty and their chocolate tower was decadent. I would order the banana pudding again for sure.

I came here for the first time on a Saturday evening at 7pm, during Houston Restaurant Week. I was a bit surprised that when we arrived the place was almost empty- not necessarily a good sign on a Saturday evening. The place filled up a bit later (closer to 9), but I'm not sure if that's typical for the place or just a fluke that one night. I did like how they had our table set for 3 so that once we checked in with the hostess, she took us to our seats and everything was ready. The HRW menu was set with 4 courses, and since it was our first visit we decided to stick to the HRW menu. While everything we ate was good, nothing I had really blew me away. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad - it just wasn't anything different than what you would get at any other steak house around town. I started wtih the Chicken Fried Broken Arrow Ranch Quail. Not knowing what in the world that meant, I asked our waitress for a better description. What she described was mostly that a quail is a small bird, smaller than a chicken, but it's fried and tastes just like chicken. What I got was a few small bites of fried quail, which did indeed taste like fried chicken, on top of a few small scrambled eggs. The quail had a sort of smoky honey flavor that was tasty. My husband had the Corn Raviolini, and he loved it. Said it was the most flavorful ravioli that he's ever had. The dish came with about 5 small ravioli bites, so I didn't get to try any before he devoured it. Second course I had the summer salad. It was a large plate of salad, and it was once again tasty, but nothing stood out to me as amazing. Very straightforward description on the menu as to what you get. Third, I chose the Gulf Red Snapper Francese. It's my own fault for not realizing that means the fish is battered and fried, which I believe takes all the flavor out of fish. The dish was decent - lots of flavor from the sauce, the lemon, and the capers- but the flavor of the fish was completely drowned out. I'm a huge fan of Red Snapper, and I love the flavor, so I was disappointed that the fish flavor was ruined by the frying. My brother tried The Tex, which is a filet with cheese enchiladas, because if you're going to promote cheese enchiladas at a steak house, they must be pretty good, right? Again, nothing too special with these things - you can probably get better enchiladas at a Tex-Mex restaurant, and at a cheaper price. We were disappointed in the lack of originality with the enchiladas, while the steak was decent. Finally, the icing on the cake (literally), dessert. I had ordered the red velvet cake, and was again pretty disappointed when it was served to me covered in sprinkles. When it first came out, I thought "is there an 8-year old having a birthday that is supposed to get a slice of cake?" but no, that is Vallone's version of the cake. I say Vallones, but it was obviously a pre-made cake that has been cut from a larger sheet cake that was pulled from the freezer. Absolutely not the best cake, and I was so embarrassed by the sprinkles that I had them wrap it up to go. Again, not the worse dessert, but definitely not what you want to see when you're eating dinner at an upscale restaurant. We ordered off the HRW menu, had 2 drinks each during the course of dinner, and after tax and tip the bill came out to over $300 for 3 people. For the quality of the food, it was absolutely not worth the money. Perhaps they have better items that are not on the HRW menu (the salt fish sounds interesting!), but if this is how Vallone's hopes to get people to come back at full price they did a poor job of convincing me.

I think they have the B-team on for lunch... Our waiter had no clue on a wine recommendation, so called over someone who appeared to be a manager or (hopefully not) a sommelier. My question was, "what wine should I pair with the crab cake?" The question in return was, "white or red?" Perplexing. I want white, of course. When I finally got a recommendation out of him, he seemed very vague and unsure of himself... I think they need some more training for all of their staff in this area. The crab cake was ok, but there was a lot of mayonnaise-like filler in it. My lunchmate's chicken fried steak was diner-quality... Also ok, but certainly not what I'd expect from a place with the Vallone name on it. All in all, I was not impressed by anything other than how pretty the restaurant is. With Perry's right down the street, I see no need to go back.

Let's break this down bit by bit - Thursday night, no reservation, no issue getting in. Yay! Hostess was ingenuine - every table she sat was concluded with "Enjoy!". Kind of lackluster and aloof. One waiter came over with a wine menu and asked if we wanted drinks. I ordered a house cabernet, water, and my husband ordered water. Another waiter came over shortly thereafter and asked for our drink order - so now we aren't sure who will be waiting on us. The meat wheel was presented soon after, and we made our choices - I ordered an 8 oz filet, cooked medium with a side of bernaise. Husband ordered bone in filet cooked medium. The bread is OUTSTANDING. They serve what I am assuming is european butter just soft enough to glide over the bread and the taste is out of this world. I do love a good sourdough. We ordered the meatballs for appetizer, and they were perfect. Fantastic flavor, very rich and creamy cheese sauce, couldn't be any better. Food arrived and the steaks were grilled to perfection. The bernaise however.... *sigh*. Lets talk about the Bearnaise. In a restaurant of this class grade, how are you bringing to me a container of old barely room temperature bernaise that is so thick it won't even spill out from the spoon. I thought I could rough it through and try it, but GROSS. It was really disgusting. Of course I sent it back, and they made a fresh batch and brought it over as soon as they could - however, my steak was slowly cooking more and more as time wasted because of course it is on a hot plate. We ordered red velvet cake, and it had a very strong taste of a liquor in it. I wouldn't recommend it. Not a true southern red velvet. It was very dense and served cold from the refrigerator. All in all it wasn't bad - the ambience was beautiful and the waiter was friendly. I'm just surprised that they don't have better quality control in the kitchen by allowing a bearnaise to go out to a table like that. Will likely give it another shot because I believe in 2nd chances.

Amazing experience, every time. The cuisine is second to none as is the service. The staff always makes me feel right at home. The staff go all out. The bread and butter are wonderful. The wine list is also amazing. Always a great choice for lunch or dinner.

Some how my bad review didn't make it the first time, hopefully it'll make it this time. My boyfriend and I went there because it was something new and had great ratings but I don't understand where the great ratings came from. The ambiance was romantic and decor was beautiful but the food was not up to par. We had the foie gras, which was good and was a nice piece for the price. The ribeye was bland with the sides of fries, mac & cheese, wild mushrooms, and pasta. Sadly out of all that the pasta was decent. They could of used red wine and butter in the wild mushrooms to give it some life and I don't think I have ever had fries that we didn't even finish. Overall, I would not go back. Especially spending close to $300 and it was a big waste Ah! That's why my review didn't post. Also check out Vallone's with two L's

I have been here before for lunch with work and was very happy with the food and service. This evening decided to bring my family for dinner, and the experience was terrible. Our waiter was very unwelcoming and gave us a very bad attitude through dinner. Not sure what was his problem, but there is no excuse for being subject to such a rude and condescending service. I wanted to try the Sunday's four-course meal special, but when I mentioned our waiter made sure we noted his frustration and went missing for over 10min. Then he came back with only two copies when we where 4 adults. Apparently, it was not well accepted to ask for the Sunday special menu. Before leaving, I informed one of the managers but do not believe there was much acknowledgement of the situation. I was told next time they will make it right. Not sure if there will be a next time though. The food was alright, but nothing special. Sadly the very unwelcoming service ruined our experience. Bad choice for a family dinner. I guess that was my mistake.

What Vallone's does well, they do VERY well. What they don't do well... Ech! What they do well: Atmosphere. The restaurant has a cool but upscale vibe. I love the see through wine room and the big fireplace. I'm also a big fan of the fresh bread they bring. It's fresh, warm, and yummy. They also do a great Caesar salad with house made dressing and croutons. My favorite thing is red snapper scallopini dish. It is DIVINE. Buttery fish that just melts in your mouth. What they don't do well: Wines by the glass. I couldn't drink at the time (preggo) so the hubby was the only one drinking. He's a big fan of malbeca. Despite two visits to Vallone's he can't find a good one. They also have lackluster desserts. The banana pudding had too many cookies and not enough pudding. The peanut butter mousse cake is dry and so not worth the money. What they're just ok at: Steak. It's about the third or fourth best in town. They're behind Pappa Bros, Vic and Anthony's, Smith and Wollensky.

HRW - the last stop of 2014 This place turned into one of those "starts better than it ends" places, which is too bad. Location is ok, there may be some u-turning involved (it's on the hospital side, not the mall side of Gessner). Valet or paid self parking in the garage is available. The restaurant décor is nice and the people were friendly. I ordered the Roman Pantofola, which is what everyone else calls a Moscow Mule. The drink was fine, and it came in a dimpled steel mug that was orange on the outside. I'm not entirely sure if it was supposed to make you think it was copper... but it was definitely not. Anyway, onwards! Chicken fried broken arrow ranch quail soft scrambled cheddar eggs, local honey - this was quite tasty! Perfect fry on the quail, and the eggs didn't feel breakfast-y. Corn raviolini sage truffle essence, texas corn - my favorite dish of the night (right at the beginning). Pasta was done well, corn was sweet, sauce was savory, just enough truffle and cheese. Vallone's wedge young gorgonzola, applewood smoked bacon lardons, tomatoes - so this came out as a round side piece of the lettuce head. Not that it made it taste different, but isn't there a reason it's called a wedge salad? It was pretty standard tasting, nothing special. Tenderloin tips, sage almond "forbidden rice" - continuing to be mediocre. Beef tips were cooked well, but just meh. The flavor on the rice was pretty good, but a lackluster dish overall. "the tex" cheese enchiladas, 6 oz center cut filet ($9 supplement) - I don't think this warranted the extra $9. The enchiladas were standard. I asked for med-rare on the steak and it was quite on the rare side. Since I knew I wasn't going to finish it and would have to re-heat, I figured it would be fine and didn't mention it. Chocolate tower, belgian chocolate, decadent chocolate brownie ($5 supplement) - I don't think this warranted the supplement either, but my friend ordered it. It was rich and chocolaty yes. Outstanding? No. Red velvet cake - this was TERRIBLE. First of all, it arrived covered in colored sprinkles. Umm I was not given the notice of the children's birthday party. Perhaps this was their interpretation of whimsy, but it didn't fit into anything. Whatever, I can get over the looks if it tastes good. Unfortunately, it doesn't. At all. The cake was a bit dry, extremely firm (my friend had trouble trying to get a bite to taste), and ridiculously sweet. I used whatever vodka I had left to wash that single bite I had down. All in all, I probably wouldn't come back of my own accord. And if I were to return, maybe just for apps and drinks.

We have been here numerous times. The staff has been amazing and attentive. While my husband loves the steaks, I must say the sides and vegetables are outstanding on their own. Flavorful, cooked perfectly and a very nice variety. We have had dinner at the bar and table service, never a bad experience. About a year ago I had ordered. A halibut special that arrived over cooked, but I am very picky about fish. Other than that one issue we have never had an issue to complain

If you don't want to read a long review, just know I do not suggest that you go to this place. Ever. For those who want a little more detail, I got it for you! This review is based on averages, here goes: started with the Caprese salad - has prosciutto on it *vegetarians beware* when I sent it back stating I was a vegetarian they simply brought me back the same salad with the prosciutto picked off. Could still taste it. Gross. Star rating: -2 (yes NEGATIVE two) (Also, no apology even though the menu didn't mention it had prosciutto on it.) Then I had the corn Raviolini: a little sweet for my taste, but good. to be noted: this is a TEENIE TINY dish meant for small children with no appetites. Star rating: 3 My other half had the "bone in filet mignon": he liked his dish. He didn't think it was anywhere near as good as the "55 day dry aged bone in ribeye" which is priced nearly the same. Star rating: 3.5 For a side we shared the "roasted brussel sprouts": decent dish. a little salty for my taste. But one of the better dishes of the night. star rating: 3.5 2 star rating for the two of us to have a $91 meal + a pretty good bottle of wine ($40 at HEB, here it cost us $60 NORMAL for restaurants) - overall $151 for our two star meal. My brother in law got the restaurant week menu: - he had the corn raviolini, he rated that a 3 - then he had the french onion soup, he rated that a 1 (note: there is an upcharge to order this with this menu, also it smells so strong the entire table commented on it) - then he had the tenderloin tips, he rated that a 3 - then he had the Chocolate tower cake, he rated that a 3 - it was a little dense and rich for his taste (also an upcharge for this menu) overall he paid $55 for a 2.5 star meal The bill for the three of us was $264 and it included mixed spirits tax, sales tax and gratuity. The service wasn't bad, just very SLOWWWWWW, they took a long time to bring out our bills (we were there for a birthday party), took a long time to fix the mistakes on some of the other bills, and then couldn't locate my fiance's credit card for about 5mins at the end of the night. I could've spent that $264 on something way better than this meal that left me going home hungry =(

I'd probably rate Vallone's a little higher if it weren't for the fact that we were actually shocked by the amount of the bill we received at dinner's end--this place is truly about as expensive a restaurant at which we've eaten in Houston! Two of us began with oysters, which were described as "medium-sized" ($15/half dozen). They were served in an awkardly tall stand, and the bivalves were tiny. When the manager came by to ask how they were, I jokingly said "Small." As a good manager, he promptly brought an extra half dozen for the two of us to split. Neither of us cared for the Mignonette dressing served with it (too much soy sauce?), but the cocktail sauce had plenty of freshly-grated horseradish. Other starters included a salad and the corn raviolini, which got excellent reviews. The wedge salad was not served as a wedge, but as a block. Taste was fine, however. I realize beef prices are on the rise, but we felt the steaks were only decent, and not worth the prices Vallone's charges for them. My suggestion is that you order them slightly less cooked than you actually want them, as they tend to cook the steaks slightly more than ordered. We split an excellent banana pudding for dessert, although my wife said she would have preferred it hot (I've only eaten it cold). We had ordered two bottles of wine listed at $78 on menu, and were charged $80 when bill was brought--no big deal, but just another little item. Service was good. Pricing is just too high to warrant a return visit--$630 for 4 people plus gratuity!

Came here on a Sat night for a friend's birthday. We had a group of 10 so my friend had a prefix menu for us to select from. That evening I ordered the salad to start and the sea bass and creamed spinach. Everything was cooked to perfection and on point. The sea bass was delicious and well seasoned, I loved that it was not salty. I find in a lot of upscale restaurants they tend to over do it on the sodium making the dish less enjoyable. The creamed spinach was excellent as well. Usually when I've ordered cream spinach in the pass I can see all the white gunk in the dish, but not this creamed spinach. Of course it still had the taste of what you would expect for creamed spinach to taste like. The restaurant is upscale and we chose it due to it's convenient location next door to the Westin hotel, where we stayed that evening. I will be back here to try their items on the menu possibly for another occasion or outing. Our waiter Will was awesome and was very patient with our group of ladies when it came time to figure out the check situation, lol. Thank you Will!!

Arrived on a Friday after Lunch rush. Got seated promptly. Waiter was very attentive and knew his lunch menu selections. Our meal began with very hot sour dough bread and butter. Delicious! I had the Italian chicken salad and my partner had the fried chicken and mash potatoes. My salad was delicious and serving size was plentiful. Tried a little bit of the mash potatoes and were the best I've had anywhere.

I recently stayed next door at the Westin and prior to leaving for the airport, my team and I were recommended to try Vallone's for a quick team lunch. Hands down, this place was wonderful. The food, service, and attention to detail was top notch. The private party manager greeted and seated us quickly and came back a few times to make all was well and also to recommend a few specialities. The team (of 6) all ordered various types of dishes (steak, chicken, shrimp, fish) along with sides that are sharable. Everything was nicely prepared and fantastic. I would encourage anyone in the area to visit this restaurant and make sure to try the Brussel Sprouts as they are really good. I would love to visit this location for dinner to get the full experience and ambience.

Vallone's completely exceeded my expectations--you've got everything a steakhouse requires (e.g., expansive bar and wine list, nice ambiance), but what stood out in my mind was the outstanding service, which was much more casual and friendly than your usual fancy restaurant. And most, importantly, the steaks were done to perfection. Adding a steakhouse in the Houston market isn't an easy undertaking, but Vallone's is definitely worth a visit.

hi guys, I went here last night for a business dinner. I was very pleased, the food was top notch. I got some sort of meat and cheese enchiladas dish and it was excellent. I was impressed with the service, one sip of water and someone stepped right out to refill it for you. I think for a romantic date or business dinner this place really has some sexy pow! I will definitely be having my hubby bring me back. Also, I wanted to compliment the hostess. I called to prearrange paying for dinner and she was discreet and very accommodating. I regret not tipping her also for her help! Also, I appreciated the valet parking, that is always a plus in Houston. Tuesday night is a great time to check this place out!

Well worth waiting for! The interior is stunning. To the left of the entry, the two story glass shelved wine wall reflects the Vallone modern art sensibility. To the right, is a lovely bar area that invites happy hour encampment. The restaurant evokes an homage to the height of 60's modern chic with warm earth tones and lots of glass. The cluster globe chandeliers throughout the downstairs dining room cast a nice ambient glow that does not overpower the more modern wooden wall shelves of faux flickering candle light that runs throughout the room. All this frames the nearly entire back wall of enclosed gas fireplace which is the central focal point. Upstairs, are private dining rooms offering a view from the second story windows reminiscent of the great view of Post Oak from Del Friscos in the Galleria. Too bad one has to be part of a private event to dine upstairs! We were promptly greeted by the gracious hostess, and though we were early, we were seated in a cozy booth. Our waitress, Gigi, was efficient and caring of our experience. As is standard with Vallone dining, we were greeted many times. Be it by Scott, Chuck, Annie or the Sommelier, Evan, we were well cared for. The menu is a nice mixture with something for everyone. Many types of salads, seafood, pasta, & steaks. We started with a simple Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail with Cajun Remoulade sauce. The three shrimp were huge and tasty but the sauce was perhaps too tomato-y and bland for my taste. Also the $20 price tag was too high compared to Trulucks which still holds the top prize for me with 5 large shrimp, served with a lovely dry ice presentation for $19. Knowing this is a steakhouse, I came for MEAT! The only grass fed steak listed was a Kobe Fillet which I ordered. It was tasty though a bit chewy, had a nice char, and cooked to order, though $75. I would have liked to have seen more grass fed choices for a steakhouse, but this seems to be a problem in H town. There were standard choices of a bone-in Fillet which, I think, was $59. and a std. fillet for $36. or a larger for $45. There were also choices of a sirloin, which they were out of, and a Rib-eye along the same price points with a large Tamahawk one for $95. The spicy Bearnaise was bland but they quickly brought a new spicier version which was fab! Hubby had a Pasta Alfredo seafood dish that was very tasty. There are many sides here including Brussels Sprouts, Asparagus, Califlower, Potatoes, etc. We had the wonderful honey glazed baby carrots with goat cheese. Yummm! The Truffle Mac and Cheese was gooey wonderful. Hubby wished the portions was a bit larger. We did not have desert as we were too full! All in all, for a restaurant 2 days old, this is a winner! I debated that fifth star which I initially gave, but feel there is room to grow. Knowing Vallone, I believe it will happen quickly!

I went to Vallones with my date. I am embarrassed. First the good: the tuna tartar was amazing. She had the steak n lobster. AWFUL The worst lobster I or she had ever had. Steak was over cooked I had the dry aged ribeye. It was fine, but flavorless The sides were also flavorless. They comped the steak n lobster which was was appropriate. It's expensive and not close to worth it. My date was never comfortable ( she told me later). Tony Vallone knows better.

My first time coming here was on Mothers Day. Nice staff, beautiful ambiance and best of all no wait for a table. The Brussel sprouts and corn ravioli are a must have! The bread is sinfully good and the mac and cheese was spot on. My disappoint and reason for 3 stars are the main dishes. They were out of almost everything! How do you run out of fish? Ended up ordering The roasted chicken and it was very very dry and the overall dish just wasn't that great. Somehow they found a piece of red snapper so I ordered the snapper francese. It was ok, the portion size was smaller than I expected as were all the dishes. I left still feeling hungry and not yet satisfied. I scale Vallones on the same as Eddie V's, Ruth Chris, Sullivan's and I almost feel cheated on my portions at Vallones. The mac and cheese was served "to share" and it felt more like a personal serving. The evening ended well with cotton candy in a martini glass. I love this and I'm not sure if it was but it tasted fresh and yummy not like the bag cotton candy you get at Brasserie 19 lol

This was my first visit ever to this place and of all days I picked Valentines Day with a date. After reading some of the reviews I will admit I was hesitant to risk a date on Valentine's after I read some mixed reviews but I will tell you that I was blown away by this place. From the minute we showed up until we left and my date is still bragging about it 3 days later! We arrived 20 mins early for our 7:30 reservation and we were seated in 10 minutes. We had a great booth in the main dining area, my date was very impressed, I think she thought I tipped the hostess or something. Service was amazing! Attentive but not pushy. The food was the absolute best that I've ever had and I've been to some awesome places around the country like Spagos, Tavern on the Green, the Water Club, etc and this experience blows them all away! The bread was incredible! Just had to say that. I had the wedge salad, fettuccine with lobster, 55day aged ribeye, and the desert medley. My date had short rib tortellini, French onion soup, prime filet, and the desert medley. Her steak was slightly over cooked so we sent it back and within a minute a perfect replacement was served to her. They obviously had a plan in place that focused on the customer experience and not expense control like most places. For that alone I am thankful because it is always awkward to complain and they made it seamless and comfortable. Everything was beyond perfect. What an absolutely awesome dining experience I cannot say enough good about this restaurant. I cannot believe this place ever got a negative review they handled a massive volume that night I we felt like their only customers. Great job Vallones!!

I am not sure what the lower rated reviews are about. Especially about HRW. The only reason this place lost a star was because of a couple of the menu items. Other than that, everything was fantastic. I went last night with a friend for HRW and we will be returning here to say the least. First off, the decor and ambiance is fabulous. Then you match with the wonderful attentive staff and the mood is set for a delightful dinner. Our waitress was GiGi and she was one of the best servers I have had in a very long time. Being in the service industry for a few years myself, exceptional service is hard to come by and she was on point. She was informative and spent her time to answer everything we asked in great detail. I can not say enough about how great she was. Ask for her! Also, we had 2 managers hit our table a couple times which is also very rare. Side note: I have been doing HRW for a long time and the servers are extremely pushy about wine sales and trying to get you to pay top dollar to rack up your tab. Dont worry, I tip REALLY well for great service, I do not want to be talked into a $200 overpriced bottle of wine. When I stated which bottle of wine we wanted, she could tell I knew what we wanted, and did not make me uncomfortable by trying to triple the price of the bottle. That was very much appreciated. Now for the food. I had the quail app, wedge salad, snapper and banana pudding. My friend had the bolognese app, arugula salad, "the tex" medium and the red velvet cake. Everything was good on average. However, my purpose for coming here was for the sides. Holy side dishes! I recommend attending hh and just ordering all of their sides at some point. We had the truffle mac, brussel sprouts and cauliflower. Do yourself a favor and check out how each is prepared because they were thebomb.com , for real. Cauliflower was our favorite. Additionally, I am a truffle mac snob and this one was right up there with Hearsay's for me. We were not fans of the salads and the snapper. But to give a little credit back, I am not a fan of blue cheese (and substitute the cheese and dressing on all of my wedge salads) so that may have made the wedge better if you like that and my friend didnt know he didnt care for pine nuts until he tried them last night. Also, I assumed the fish would be grilled and not egg battered and pan fried. It almost made the fish taste like chicken. Favorite things other than sides were the quail app, the enchiladas and the banana pudding. In the end, the resturant as a whole was awesome, and even though our choices in food may not have been 100%, the 4 stars are deserved on that alone given the rarity.

We came to Vallone's for a work party/birthday celebration and it was a hit. The wine selection was wonderful and the food was delicious. Even pescatarians at our table were able to find a lot of food on the menu that they loved. The interior is very swanky. I loved all of the wood and comfortable dining room. The wine vault/cellar was pretty impressive as well, a la Perry's, where it was about 2 stories of wine in a glass room. I was a fan of a lot of their sides, since they were unique and oh-so-tasty: the cauliflower was good, the brussel sprouts amazing and their truffle mac and cheese heavenly. I was quite impressed with my salmon and they were nice enough to add onions and blue cheese to my husband's ribeye upon request. I even heard that their French onion soup was fabulous. The one thing that I was kinda underwhelmed by was the foie gras appetizer. The piece was a bit too thin, so hard to cut through, since the outer surface was so crisp. Oh and silly me, I forgot the cocktails. Their variation of the Tom Collins (I think the Tony Collins) was a big hit -- very fresh and nice. I got the Rouge something (the whisky cocktail) and it was quite nice as well.

We really enjoyed our first visit to Vallone's! The space is well done with rustic modern tones. I loved the firewall as we were welcomed to the "bistro" seating without reservations. As expected, I could not compare this to my favorite Houston restaurant, Tony's, in terms of food. But their service was just as impeccable. My husband and I tried a few things. The fried quail on scrambled egg was surprisingly delicious (we ordered for novelty and didn't expect the flavors to meld as well as they did). The Vallone's spaghetti wins my vote for best spaghetti EVER. Definitely gives Scarpetta's aptly proclaimed dish a run for its money! Being a steakhouse, my husband got a venison filet. It was well flavored and properly cooked. LOVE that you can order a fresh made pasta as your side for $9! His short rib tortellini side was divine. My Vallone's shrimp maintained it's very delicate meat for looking strongly fried. The flavors were delicious and the beurre blanc was perfect. I will probably venture off to the steak portion of the menu on the next visit. All in all it was a lovely dinner. Love the location choice - versus the crowded and more popular City Centre. I think this area is a better fit for restaurant! Can't wait to keep coming back for more!

I went here last night with a few friends to kick start HRW 2014 and also to celebrate my dear friend's 30th birthday. We all decided to do the HRW menu even though the other choices were very tempting, I did however, got the manager to let me switch out the steak option with the prime ribeye. Starters: Most of us had the fried quail, which was delish, and then the baby arugula salad, which you cannot go wrong with..I mean, I don't think anyone can mess up an arugula salad right? RIGHT???? Well, Vallone's didn't mess it up lol, they could go a tad heavier on the dressing and I don't even like dressings all that much. SO FAR SO GOOD! Entrée: I paid extra to have the prime ribeye and I asked for it to be BLUE RARE...for anyone that doesn't know what blue rare is, it means that I still want to hear the heartbeats from my piece of steak. The steak came out at best medium rare, I did not return it because if they can't get it to be even rare the first time, I don't have much hope. The outside was insanely crusted but not from seasonings..just tasted burnt. For a steakhouse...this is terrible. *My friends did not have too good of an experience with their entrees either, most of them got the tenderloin tips or the "tex"..both meats were disappointing...it's a blah point..like it was just blahhhhhh (like the mooooo point...lol) Dessert: I don't care for dessert, the chocolate cake is too much, the snowball cake is too sweet, and the banana pudding was decent...again, I don't think you can mess up banana pudding. **I did really like the brussel sprouts** Drinks: I had an old fashioned and also their double old fashioned, way too sweet, even though I had the waiter mention to the bartender that the first one was too sweet. The drinks came with these cherries that were soaked in brandy for 20+ hours, now those were awesome! Overall...I wouldn't come back lol, memorable..but not in a good way hahaha. Service: The service was actually pretty awesome, very nice and attentive staff!

I went with my family of 4 last night to celebrate my birthday and it was mostly a hit. I've been to about every steakhouse in Houston and now consider Vallone's one of Houston's very best. I always get NY strip and their 55-day aged New York strip was incredible. It was extra flavorful and I rarely see a strip so tender. It looked so good that everyone at the table wanted a bite and my wife, who never orders steaks, raved over how good it was. My son was really impressed with his filet mignon. It was cooked perfectly. My wife ordered grilled Snapper filet and it was beautifully prepared and presented and was a very-generous portion. She loved it, which is important to me because it's not easy for me to interest my wife in a steakhouse unless they have some good non-steak items. The only entree miss was with my daughter. She ordered flounder, which I think was an off-menu item, and she wasn't warned that the sauce is sweet. She didn't like it, nor did anyone else at the table. I'm sure that they would have replaced if we spoke up, but she doesn't like to make waves. The sides are great, except the the "cheesy potatoes" were uninteresting. It was basically small round boiled potato pieces swimming in an excess of liquid cheese sauce. We were hoping that it would be au gratin style, which would have been much better. The wine list has an excess of pricey bottles and not enough good lower-priced bottles. Nonetheless, we had a very good Barbara d'Alba for $65. The service was very good, but not quite excellent -- in part because they were busy. We waited a long time to order because they have a display of the steak cuts to show and our waiter kept waiting for it to become available. Meanwhile, we were filling up on their excellent bread (they brought a second loaf that we didn't ask for). We eventually told our waiter to skip the display because it's a bit superfluous anyway. They would sell more appetizers if they didn't leave people sitting so long with free bread before taking orders. Also, we drank our bottle of wine slowly, but at one point we waited long enough with both glasses empty so I poured myself. I liked the waiter, though, and think he was working hard. I suggest that they just have the waiter put the sides on the table and skip the part of the waiter trying to spoon portions of the sides onto everyone's plate. That kept me sitting there wanting a bite of my steak but only being able to look at it until the unnecessary side-order theatrics were done. It also took time from the waiter when he could be doing more-important things I mentioned such as taking orders and checking on wine. Overall, an excellent outing and I'll definitely be back!

Went for dinner on a Friday at 8 PM. First of all the food was quite delicious and the ambiance is generally very classy. Besides this, I was rather unimpressed with some of the mistakes made by the staff. First, I asked for a suggestion of a pinot noir by the glass. The waiter did not communicate this to the wine steward properly and I was offered a bottle instead of a glass. This was not a big deal as it was an easy fix. Second, we ordered a filet rare, a New York strip medium rare, Brussels sprouts, carrots, and Mac and cheese. When our food arrived, the filet was over cooked, my friend received a ribeye rather than the New York strip, and the ribeye was under cooked on top of that. The waiter did not ask us to cut into our steaks before walking away so we had to wait to tell him they were incorrect. The steaks were taken back and we once again waited. To make up for this wait the manager brought us a small plate of ravioli each. He did not offer this to us but rather put it in front of us. Take this as you wish, but there was no consideration on his part to consider food allergies or waste if we did not want this extra food. Note, the pasta had walnuts in it. Eventually our steaks come out along with fresh sides and my friend's cut of steak is now correct but the steaks were both incorrectly cooked again. We didn't want to wait for them to cook our steaks another time so we figured it wasn't the biggest deal and ate our meals. Following dinner, the manager tried to compensate us again by bringing us two desserts without any warning. While this was a nice gesture, he never offered it to us and just placed it in front of us. At that point we were so full that we were not hungry but felt obligated to eat it. Having dessert ended up actually taking up more of our time and being bothersome. When they boxed up our food they left out the dessert which we wanted to take home and they put everything in individual boxes which we asked them not to. Each occurrence was not a huge deal but after going through it all night it was very annoying and added up.

Went to a company Christmas party there, food was not that good at all first started off the shrimp cocktail it was ok mediocre at best. They only gave us two sides of bread and never offered us anymore for nine people? Really not nearly enough, then we had the wedge salad that was the best thing that they gave us. Lastly the hubby had the steak and lobster the lobster was chopped into little pieces and just thrown on top of the steak which was not even rare but more like it was still mooing that's how pink it was. I had the fettuccine which was terrible no flavor and there wasn't any sausage or crab meat at all like the menu stated. All in all not a very good visit thank the God the company paid for it cause I would've for sure asked for my money back.

This is a long overdue but Vallone's was wonderful! We came here for a dinner for a good friend of mine. Three of us came in with the notion that this was going to be our last dinner together for a while so we decided the splurge was totallly worth it. My friend is allergic to just about every fruit or nut you can think of so sometimes eating with her can be a bit tedious but once Vallone's was made aware of the circumstance they did what they could to accomodate us. We started out with the Summer Salad which was fantastically refreshing. They set aside the walnuts and Fuji apples so that our friend could enjoy the salad also. The manager sent out a complimentary tasting of their Corn Raviolini which was FANTASTIC! It was a pleasant surprise and I definitely recommend it to anyone who goes there. Most Ravioli dishes tend to be a little on the heavier side but this one was done beautifully. Come to find out it's a favorite of the manager's too! For our main entree we decided to go with the Seabass and the 55 Day Dry Aged Bone In Ribeye. The Seabass was a tad bit overcooked but upon pointing this out to the waiter he happily replaced it with Grilled Gulf Red Snapper. The ribeye was my favorite! It was soo tender and melted in your mouth and it was aged beautifully. I have since been back to a few establishments and nothing has even come close. We paired our entrees with their brussel sprouts which were topped with feta cheese. For dessert we got the Baked Alaska and a chocolate cake that would put any other chocolate cake to shame! It was a tower of amazing chocolate on top of chocolate on top of chocolate and each layer complimented the previous perfectly. I do have to say that the place is pricey for the average Houstonian but it is worth it for any special event. I will definitely be coming back sometime soon. I've already started to miss the ribeye.

We went for lunch today. I order the two course meal; French onion soup and salmon dish. I found the taste of both dishes quite salty and my coworker who got the salmon dish and mushroom soup said the same. However, their bread and the atmosphere of the restaurant were very good. The service was great too. The server was very attentive.

The food is good but not worth the price. Went to celebrate a special anniversary. Told the reservation person when the reservation was made. Not once was this acknowledged by anyone. Felt the waiter was very condescending. Unless you order one of their pricey steaks don't expect very good service. Felt like they were in a rush to get us out. We dine out frequently and are always on the look out for wonderful places. There are lots of great restaurants in the West Houston area where you get good food, good service and are treated special. Vallone's is not one of them.

My husband and I were there to celebrate a special occasion, and we were very pleased with our experience. We made a reservation for an early dinner (right around 6 PM), and the restaurant was still rather empty when we arrived. Not sure if that was the reason for very attentive and efficient service. No complaints here either way! The interior decor is spacious and modern; the wine cellar underneath the staircase is impressive. We enjoyed the freshly baked bread very much. The steaks that we ordered were at the standard that such a fancy steakhouse should offer. The sides were phenomenal! I was so sad when the server did not pack the Brussels sprouts to go with our leftover steak (to be fair, we did not specify). We would recommend this restaurant to others for special occasions.

Raised in San Francisco, spoilt by the best of what the city has to offer am very particular and demanding of what I expect on my plate. I had the pleasure of dining at " Valones ". It's a new establishment, so bit concerned. To my surprise the food was fantastic. I had the Tuna tartare for appetizer, The 12oz filet. Perfect. The wine list is very nice, affordable. Service was good, Eric who was in charge made sure all was good at all times. I look forward to going here

Stopped in for dinner while in town for work. Food was excellent, though at an energy corridor premium. I had red snapper and Yukon gold mashed potatoes, both of which were excellent, though frankly pricey. As a party of one, I sat at the bar, and was well taken care of by the staff, especially bartender Joe. Joe appeared to know something about literally every thing on the menu. Sample: "Scapa single malt? Second northernmost Orkney single malt to Highland Park by about 300 ft and made by 3 guys who know they have sixteen years to deliver a superior product. Fiery and peaty." Having never heard of this single malt, I consulted google to find the comments confirmed. This was consistent with all his other wine and booze recommendations. Also, although I was one of approximately two people not wearing coat and tie, still got a visit from a manager to check on me. Although I found the food a bit more expensive than merited ($75 plus with tip for cocktail, class of wine, fish and potatoes) , the bar was extremely well stocked and reasonably priced compared to surrounding restaurants and hotels. I will definitely come back here for a Macallan.

I believe the restaurant opened about a month ago and they are off to a great start! We went on a Thursday night, early. There were not a lot of people there but that was a good thing in my book. I don't like a loud restaurant. The decoration is lovely. I loved the firewall. We sat right next to the tall one. It was warm and cozy at first but got quite hot. I asked the waiter if they could turn it down, it seems to be a gas flame system, like a fireplace. He said they could not but I find that hard to believe. So don't sit too close to it. The food was very good. The standout appetizer was the warm crab blanco. Delicious! We also got the TV meatballs. The sauce and creamy polenta were excellent but the meatballs were a little bland. For my main course I enjoyed the veal chop stuffed with cheese and procusitto with some mushrooms. It was very good, but a bit pricy $59. We shared a few sides and the standout was the brussel sprouts with feta. The wine list was extensive and we got a wonderful bottle but the wine expertise was not there in the staff. We had it at our table so we were covered but they need to look at that going forward.

I cannot even give this restaurant one star. I ordered a 16 oz. rib eye medium rare and got a medium rib eye that tasted like shoe leather for $45.00. That is not bad enough, but I ordered a glass of wine that I thought was $12.00 a glass but when I got my bill, I was charged $38.00 for 6 oz of wine. The $12.00 price was for one oz. I should have paid attention to the headings above the prices when I ordered but I have been in five star restaurants all over the world and have never seen wine ordered one oz. at a time. Further, the waiter should have pointed it out to me. I feel totally ripped off! I did not send my steak back because my dinner companions would have been finished eating before I got my new steak. Needless to say, I will never go back. Now I know why the place was practically empty. Certainly not anywhere near Tony Vallone standards!

Waitstaff is rude and there is no management available to assist in correcting the issue. The waiter at this place was insulting and rude and the food was mediocre at best. I personally don't think Houston wants this kind of establishment in our city, stick with Perry's or Taste of Texas

It's exciting to have Vallone's open in this area, which has seen a lot of growth and is ready for a new modern, upscale restaurant. The interior design is gorgeous with subtle mid-century cues, but not overdone; the atmosphere was comfortable and unpretentious. The menu is in keeping with traditional steak house fare, but the food was simply prepared and executed perfectly. The wait staff was attentive and provided impeccable service. My only (minor) criticism is that they should play classier background music which is more in line with the vibe and ambience that they are striving for, rather than Top 40 drivel and tired old classic rock tunes. I will definitely be back!

We took our friend here for his birthday and the waiter was very accommodating and friendly explaining the feature cuts. Reading the other reviewers complaint about service I guess we were fortunate. Our waiter just started a couple weeks ago and was cool chatting with our party. We ordered the 55 day dry age NY strip, ribeye, and the kobe. The steak was good but definitely not worth the extra money for dry age. The Kobe was excellent and highly recommended. The dish that caught everyone off guard was the pasta with sausage and crab. It was very good!! The best side to go with the steak was the truffle oil mac and cheese.

Went there last night for dinner. No wait, got right in for a party of 2. Food and drinks were delicious and great service! Had the pimm's cup-like drink, pisco sour and another gin / lemon juice / soda drink (sorry can't remember the names) between the 2 of us .. all were good! For food, we had the crab cocktail for a starter ... huge hunks of crab and the 2 sauces were good. We debated on ordering the shrimp cocktail instead, but felt like we made the right choice with the crab cocktail after seeing how much delicious crab we got!! Then for our mains, we ordered the ribeye and lamb chops. The meat was cooked perfectly. Lamb chops were especially flavorful! We shared a roasted brussel sprouts on the side. Too stuffed for dessert, but the dessert menu looked good! All in, would highly recommend for a special date night. It's pricey for a normal meal, but the service and food was exceptional!

I had an absolutely wonderful experience here! We were promptly seated and served the most beautiful and delicious, piping hot-from-the-oven sourdough loaf. What a primer for what was to come!! I started with the onion soup. It was slightly sweeter than usual but absolutely delicious nonetheless--cheesy goodness with every spoonful. The filet was equally impressive--cooked to perfection and perfectly seasoned. The béarnaise sauce was rich and tangy, as it should be. The mashed potatoes had that smooth and creamy texture everyone strives for, but the real stand out was the caramelized cauliflower side--OMG! Thanks to Vallone's, I have found my new favorite veggie... I mean, wow!! Finally, I simply cannot rave enough about the red velvet cake. It was moist....rich.... luxurious.... curious....inviting...exciting.....okay, okay.. You can readily tell that a lot of labor and love went into the menu, ambiance, décor, and the impeccable service here. I will definitely be back.

Enjoyed this place very much. The salads were good but not wowing. The service was good, not over the top but I can tell once they get seasoned it will be great. The build out is awesome and the steaks are excellent. Some of the best I have had in Houston. Wine list is a bit $$ but it is well thought out and the staff was helpful with selecting some nice wines. The reason to go is for the steak. IMO the best new steakhouse in Houston in the last 10 years.

Looking forward to trying the new Vallones, met a friend there on a Monday for early dinner. Beautiful place, great mix of music and had a friendly and efficient waiter. Until he was sent home and neither the hostess or any other servers bothered to mention this. With no more than 30 diners it would have been easy. No offer of more wine, no refilling our water until we finally stacked our plates and moved them to the edge of the table. Someone finally came and that's when we found out our waiter had been sent home. The waitstaff were all so professional that they could completely avoid eye contact. When our check was brought to us, we were told they work as a team and they thought since we were talking and having a meeting, they chose not to disturb us. Sorry but asking if you want another drink and taking dirty plates is not disturbing the diner. Thanks for the glass of champagne but I could have done without the attitude. Really disappointing, especially in the price point of this restaurant.

I met a friend here tonight for dinner and a brief meeting. We arrived early - around 5:15 and the place was empty. This is probably not unusual for a Monday evening. It did pick up some as the evening went on. Anyway, our server was attentive and brought us the drinks we ordered along with some warm bread. (We weren't ready to eat at that time). When we decided to order, we both ordered the grilled redfish and got the roasted brussel sprouts and caramelized cauliflower as sides. The food was excellent but the service was not.....after waiting for almost an hour for our waiter to come and check on us and remove our dirty plates, we finally had a waiter approach our table to ask if we needed anything. We asked where our waiter was and he told us that he had been sent home. We were shocked because no one had told us he was no longer there. When we complained to the lady I have to assume was the floor manager this evening, she indicated they work as a team and thought we were busy working and catching up and didn't want to disturb us. As my friend explained to her, a good waiter would at least stop by to ensure we didn't need anything or pick up our dirty dishes before we had to pile them at the edge of the table and we should have at least been informed we had a different waiter. She did ask if there was anything she could do for us to which we respond that we would just like our check. She brought our check, along with a glass of champagne and a dessert for each of us. While this was a nice gesture, it still doesn't change the fact that we should have been informed our waiter was not there and someone else would be taking care of us....needless to say, this is not the type of service you would expect from a Vallone family restaurant. It will be some time before I return.....also, found it to be a little pricey for dinner for two with only one glass of wine each....

This was our fist time at a Vallone's restaurant and had 2 fillets and both were under cooked and had to be sent back to put back on the grill. When they returned one was right but other was still under cooked and had to go back a SECOND time to be cooked more. By the time it came back the first meal was almost all gone and sides had cooled down. Not once did a manager come over or we offered a free dessert or comp of the steak. Very disappointing since we were looking forward to trying this restaurant.

To be honest, I wasn't very impressed on their food selection. I had a feeling that my 2nd Course which is the Chianti Braised Short Ribs Tortellini was microwaved the reasons being the dish was very hot when it came out yet the waiter didn't need to held the dish with a towel or napkins. Also, as soon as the plate is cold, my food also is cold. Fried Green Tomatoes Hicks, Chicken Involtini and Chocolate Towel are just average. I agreed with most of you the food and service were average. I don't know if I would want to come back for another dinner.

Almost as good as Tony's. The service and ambience were superb. I usually go for steaks when in a steakhouse. However, tonight I went with the special of the night scallops. They were good and the sides were excellent. The cauliflower was fantastic as well as the creamed spinach. Definitely worth a second visit.

Wife and I Had grilled red snapper. So fishy tasting that the entrée was rendered unfit to eat. Salad was great, bread is best in town-thank goodness- but the meal wasn't in the style of the Vallone family. Add to that the fact there were 5 "un-bussed" tables and two tray stands with dirty dishes on them. If you're in a dinner I understand, but not in a restaurant that has $30.00 entrees for lunch, I think not! Being fair they did take the entree cost of the bill but it will still be my last time there. We go for good food, not excuses.

This place is mediocre. The managers are friendly. But the waiters don't speak English and the food isn't great.

Going to keep this short. Been here 3 times, and ordered the same items, and always the same results...great! Steak: Get the 55 day dry aged bone in ribeye. You can tell it has been dry aged where as other restaurants, not really. Great flavor, nuttiness, buttery...just superb! Priced at $63 Sides: Brussel Sprouts and Truffle Mac N Cheese, I think both are priced at $11 Order a bottle of Belle Glos Dairyman, priced at $60 I'll def be back! Service can be a tad slow, I'm taking about 5 minutes or so, not an hour, but I'm in no rush

VALLONES DOES NOT LIKE FAT PEOPLE!!!! I hate the fact that I even have to give this "establishment" a star. I'm so absolutely disgusted with this place I don't even know how to put this into words. We were refused service, with prior reservations, for a good 20 minutes. Once the waiter finally decided to speak to us he repeatedly made snide remarks as to the food we were ordering insinuating how we didn't need starches. If I am PAYING you 500 dollars of my hard earned money you have zero right to comment on what I order. My money my choice. I'm sorry I thought your business was based on serving a customer instead of treating them like a less than second class citizen. No I did not speak to a manager because multiple managers walked passed my table and did not make eye contact with me or even bothered to speak to me. Every table surrounding me was allowed this privilege, and yes I will call it a privilege since I'm obviously a disgusting human that does not deserve respect. This is such a disgusting establishment and I can't imagine how anyone could treat another human the way I was treated tonight. Fat people obviously need food so I would suggest you serve the people who are going to eat everything off of your menu.... Oh and by the way even fat people think your food is gross. It's called flavor and spice! Learn it!!

Delicious food that is unique without being strange. Beautiful dining room and bar. I have had both lunch and dinner there as well as attending two parties and all experiences were consistently delicious with excellent service. I highly recommend the sea bass and the French onion soup. The wine selection is impressive and the prices are as you would expect. This is a can't miss location for a special occasion or a drink after work.

This was our first visit to Vallone's. The restaurant is beautiful & eclectic- has a great vibe, & staff was friendly - our waiter was excellent. I'm sorry to say though, the kitchen was overly generous w/the salt! My husband's steak was salty, the cheesy potatoes were very rich - swimming in sauce, & too salty, ditto - my fried salty shrimp! The meal was disappointing - however, the Silver Oak made up for it. Great wine list.

We visited New Years Eve. The food was good overall and the service was welcoming and gracious - in line with that we'd always received at Tony's. Bread - they bring a slightly warm sourdough loaf halfway sliced which requires you to pull and tear at the loaf to get a piece. It is served with a good salty butter. Appetizers - Warm Lump Crab Bianco was delicious as was the fettucine with vallone sausage, jumbo lump crab and titos vodka sauce. Salad - the caesar was a bit heavy for my taste, but the garden mixed greens salad was excellent. We had a 10 oz center cut filet mignon cooked medium. This was the only disappointment for the dinner. It was very average - not as moist as it should have been. When I first cut into it, I thought it was overcooked, but it turned out to be just dryer than expected and lacking the flavor of a well prepared steak. Dessert - For the prix fix meal, a trio was served: the praline cheesecake was delicious. The chocolate cake was very average and I did not personally care for the lemon tart. Overall a good restaurant. A lovely atmosphere and excellent service. Note - the website designer for this restaurant group should be fired. Very poor, unprofessional websites. Also - we were surprised by the prix fix limited menu for new years as it was not listed on the website nor indicated during reservation.

Dined as a party of 4 on Monday Dec. 16. Food very good, as expected at price level - not plagued by new restaurant shakeout issues. Filets/prime ribeye were very good; "creamless" creamed spinach was unique and delicious. However, service level extremely disappointing for an establishment from a veteran restauranteur. Waiter reminded us of his name 6+ times, and pushed champagne, wine, appetizers, entrees and desserts hard and loudly announced prices. Drinks took too long to arrive. Waiter offered and spooned out side dishes without permission. Check revealed that two cocktails were different than ordered, with higher cost drinks delivered. Tables were too close for this level - I felt as though a man at next table was in my lap. The majority of these shortcomings must be attributed to management rather than the server. Wait staff in a top level restaurant should be unobtrusive. The substitution of the drinks is unforgivable.

I give this place one star purely on bad customer service. I came here with my boss after work for dinner. The service we received was so poor i was discussed. We were seated in the bistro section did not have a server to come and greet us, we were not offered water or anything. After sitting for what seems like an hour i finally got up and called for some (please note that this it was virtually empty with plenty of staff simply walking around) and one of the mangers came apologized for the wait then brought us our wine as well as some very tasty treats, which he offered as a compensation for the wait. He leaves us and told us he would send someone over to take our orders. We drank our glass of wine and waited for what seemed like another hour i finally got up and went to the bar where numerous bar staff stood around talking. I mentioned that we have been waiting and at this point i told them we have been waiting too long and at this point i wanted to leave. He simply said OK the wine is on us and left. He did not apologize or say i would rectify the situation or anything. Needless to say i will never go back based on that experience and the next day our group took our business else where. Some people or wait staff or a reason and will never be able to do anything else and even that they suck at!!!!!

The upsides: Great service, very nice ambience, and quiet. The downsides, however, are that its very expensive and the food was not all that good. I will definitely say they need to work on their French onion soup recipe. That was a disgrace; I'd swear they put molasses in it. It was very sweet with a molasses after taste. At $10 a bowl I'd expect substantially better.

We were really disappointed. The restaurant is gorgeous, the service was good but the food was ridiculously expensive and very mediocre. Pasta portions were tiny and glutinous, shrimp batter was strange. Expected more from an experienced restaurant owner.

We ordered the wedge and caprese salad to start. The wedge was ok not the best I've had, I wouldn't order it again from here. It is very bleu-cheesy so if you like that flavor A LOT then you probably will enjoy the wedge salad here (that was all I could taste in the salad). Caprese salad was delicious, I couldn't finish it because I had too much food coming it's pretty big so it is something you can share with one other person. We shared a 12oz filet mignon, it was very tasty and cooked perfectly to our order definitely the best part of our meal. For sides we had the Wisconsin cheesy potatoes. they were just ok, and the cauliflower which was pretty good a little overboard on the sweetness flavor or whatever it was drenched in. I would say all in all I would not go back for a special event because I felt like it was overpriced for the taste of the food and I've had better that was for the same price. But it was not terrible it was just ok.

Went for a nice family dinner. The service was great by Robert. Frankly the dry aged bone-in ribeye was ok and over priced. I have had better at a few places in town. The real embarrassing part for Vallones was serving under cooked fish. It was raw in the middle. Once you eat raw fish, the appetite is gone. On their part, Management did offer everything possible to make up for the error including serving some free desserts. Mac and cheese was very good. Basically the service was great, the food was ok and it was over priced.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
