I struggled with whether or not I should write this review. Why? Because eating here sent me into a shame spiral. Not because I have any issue with eating at a chain restaurant known for its unexceptional food and super-cheap prices.......no, I'm not a snob like that. I'm cheap, I don't care who knows it. I am embarassed because I ate like it was my last night on earth and grew another chin. Amidst all my talk of "I need to get serious about losing this baby weight". I hadn't been here since my now teenaged daughter was, like, five years old. It was a whim more than anything. Plus it didn't look crowded, and we were all so tired and hungry after running errands all day, this just seemed to fit the bill. We weren't expecting great pizza, but it was a lot better than we thought. Hence the overeating. I started off with the spinach pizza, because I love spinach and eating anything with spinach makes me feel like I'm eating healthy (I also blot the grease off my pizza before eating, like it really makes a huge difference). The salad bar surprised me; I wasn't expecting fresh produce, or toppings like broccoli to be available for my salad, but they were. After that, I moved on to other pizzas: Canadian Bacon, pepperoni, more spinach. And then the mac 'n cheese pizza. I know, I know, it sounds horrible, and you're probably thinking I have the palate of a three year old, but it was good! I couldn't eat a whole dessert, so I snagged a few bites of some apple thing my daughter had gotten; it too was good My son, who has only two teeth, ate some of the pasta with marinara, which tasted more like plain old tomato sauce to me. But he liked it, a lot, and he is a picky little man when it comes to table food (seriously, overly salty mashed potatoes at another establishment sent him into fits I didn't think he would recover from). The drinks were also good-my sweet tea was just the right amount of sweet, and hubby's Dr. Pepper was the right amount of carbonation as was daughter's root beer. The service was also surprisingly good. Our dirty plates were cleared immediately, and we were asked several times if everything was to our liking or if we needed anything. And the real kicker? These people seemed genuinely concerned with whether or not we were happy! There was no smarminess in their tone whatsoever-I was shocked to say the least. Between the low price ($22 for a family) and the really decent food, we'll definitely be going back here again. I don't know if our self-control will be going with us, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. It's not like we eat here every night. Yet.
