A Dallas brunch staple: Their Sticky bun really is Amazing, it is not wonder they win best of every year. Pros: Sticky buns, chef quality breakfast favorites, and polite service Cons: Really super busy on weekends (meaning a wait to be seated), often full of noisy children, and the most awkward Dallas skyline mural in existence I've been here for breakfast/brunch with my mom at least half a dozen times during my time at SMU, and it's one of the places I miss most now that I'm out of Dallas. Originally we visited because of a stellar write-up in the Dallas Observer, and I'm so glad I picked up that paper. The menu includes standard breakfast fare, but prepared by quality chefs who know what they're doing. Portions are large here so there is no chance of leaving hungry. My mom and I usually split a sticky bun and an eggs benedict, which comes with a side of delightful pancakes. After that, we're both stuffed. What really makes this places stand out is the attention to detail in the food preparation -- I've never had eggs come out overcooked here, which is saying something when talking about poached eggs

Worth visiting for the sticky buns alone! Charming casual restaurant with an updated diner format. I recently dined at Crossroads for lunch/brunch. The menu consisted of a nice mix of breakfast and lunch items (sandwiches, salads), as well as updated comfort food/diner classics. We shared the macaroni & cheese, bacon & white cheddar frittata, and a sticky bun. The mac & cheese was OK; it had nice flavor from the caramelized onion and ham, but I would have preferred it to be cheesier. Where Crossroads really excelled was breakfast- the bacon and white cheddar frittata, served with hash browns and toast, was very good. The quality of ingredients was excellent (especially the bacon). The star of the meal was the sticky bun, served straight from the oven. YUM. Delicious and decadent, the perfect balance of cinnamon and ooey gooey sweetness. Crossroads currently only serves breakfast and lunch, but I understand that they are adding dinner service soon. If you enjoy diner-style restaurants, check out Crossroads Diner.

Five stars as far as breakfast places go. The sticky buns are fabulous. Came to Dallas for a concert and found this place on yelp. I was not disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised by the overall friendly staff and quick and attentive service. Food was probably four stars (sticky buns = 5 stars), but service bumped my overall rating to five stars.

The perfect mix of home cooking and 5-star dinning! Well done Crossroads, well done!! Excellent service!!! Keep up the great work!!!

Nice decor. Went for lunch. Service was fast, staff friendly. I had the fried chicken, with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies. Theses were the best veggies I've had in a long time.... Perfect. Lot of breakfast items, a little pricey for breakfast food. Overall a good choice, will definitely be back.

Overall: The vibe of this place is open and comfortable. We will come back and try some other options that also caught our eye. Atmosphere: Lots of natural light and openness which gave a comfortable feeling. Friendly staff. Food: Ordered grits, sticky bun, and the special of the day Pork Shank Hash which also came with a short stack of pancakes. Sticky bun was good but very sweet so we definitely would recommend you sharing it. Grits and pancakes were our least favorite items. Pork shank was tender and flavorful.

Great food. Superb specials! We eat here almost too often. Can never go wrong with the Breakfast Schnitzel, Pork Shank, French Toast, or one of the best Eggs Benedict to be found.

I'm typing this just before I slip into a coma from food bliss. It's that good. Chef Tom Flemming is amazing & I can't wait to go back! Today I had the Eggs Benedict for lunch. Aaaamazing!

Great food. A bit of a wait on Sunday, but worth it. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. You must try the sticky bun!

absolutely delicious breakfast had the pecan pancakes eggs and chicken sausage, the coffee was excellent! not to mention the wait staff was exceptional.

Good food. Good service. Only negative might be that it is acoustically very noisy. Still, a definite repeat for a lunch spot.

For the price, you can't beat this place. The breakfast items are the way to go. If they have the specials: breakfast shnitzel or Country skillet... Get 'em. the breakfast shnitzel is a fried pork tenderloin on some grits with a fried egg on top. If it's your first time, you MUST get a sticky bun too. This place has bomb pancakes that come with most of the breakfast dishes.

Chicken hash for breakfast was really good. The pancakes...super fluffy and perfect! Very good!

Pecan pancakes are the BEST pancakes I've ever had! Turn it over and you can see all the pecans in the pancake. Their mac n cheese is also to die for and comes with a small cup of amazingly delicious roasted vegetables!

If we lived closer, I'd be here daily. I was hesitant to go in based on a few reviews, but time constraints kept us since we were already there. I dined during lunch time on a Tuesday. Although it was a full house, we were seated promptly after a super friendly greeting. Waters were brought out quickly. Our waiter was knowledgable & efficient while still friendly. The hubs ordered corn beef sandwich, I had the curry chicken salad sandwich, and we had the a short stack of blueberry pancakes to share. The chicken salad was one of the best I've eaten, sweet but served on savory, hearty bread for balance. I don't like corn beef but the hubs said his was really good. (Man of few words...) The blueberry pancakes were perfect w/ fresh berries & not too big. The most unexpected favorite was the housemade chips & chili remoulade that cane with both sandwiches. They were thick, crunchy, & not at all greasy. The dip had just the right amount of spice for heat but not hot. Prices reasonable for area, and the atmosphere was modern, clean, county kitchen - very open, wooden & white, with metal utensils as decor. I will definitely go here again when I'm in the area next month.

Breakfast - great food! Service - professional and personable. The owners visiting your table - it made the visit!

Alright, I've been several more times since my review, and I just can't live with the 4 stars I put last time. This is place is 5-star worthy. Two reasons: 1. The service is just absolutely phenomenal. I'm not sure where they find these people, because it is crowded every time I go and yet I feel like I'm the only table my waiter or waitress is serving. Fresh coffee, clean silverware, extreme courtesy (if they see you're in the middle of a sentence with your table-mates, they will not butt in like so many other restaurants) - and I've been served by someone different every single time! 2. The specials are incredible, AND they actually have something new every single weekend! They manage to tie in savory entrees with breakfast amazingly well, and honestly, the price is as good as you could hope for. The only possible reason to stay away from 5 stars is the price of coffee, as I mentioned in my earlier review. But in the end, it just doesn't detract from everything else.

I saw this diner mentioned in D Magazine's Best of Dallas as a pick for the best breakfast. They specifically called out their sticky buns and I have to say those buns do not disappoint. But you should only order one and split it with a friend. They are the size of a grapefruit. The service was amazing and I really felt like this was a neighborhood hang-out. I also liked the atmosphere - I could hear my friend speaking even after the restaurant filled up.

Another place I was excited to try and then the service and food were really bad, so I don't understand the hype. Are we even talking about the same place? We had waited one morning forever so when my husband inquired about our table they stuck us at the back table under the vent. I have never sat anywhere under such a direct blast, it was even making my coffee ice cold. Other guests had also moved from this particular table (they were coming back to leave tips for the server, that was sweet of them). Naturally we asked to be moved...the red headed female manager was super rude to us. She actually asked me "why don't you have a sweater in the car?" Wait, WTF? Finally got to move (the never told us they were moving us either, we sat back there freezing and were PISSED) food came out cold and when we paid the cashier up front was rude. Again WTF. Was in the area months later and gave it another chance...my friend's food was not good, she sent it back and then they couldn't cook her eggs correctly, repeatedly. It was ridiculous. And oh look, the same manager! Being rude! No WAY! I tried with this place, twice. Their manager sucks. Will not go back, EVER.

This is my daughter's very favorite restaurant. It's our go-to weekend brunch place (if only the wait was better). The pancakes are fantastic! My husband loves the corned beef hash, I love the hash browns and the BLT. I really like that they use local ingredients and bakeries. This is not a diner as in the northeastern sense, but a wonderful Dallas breakfast/lunch restaurant. Regardless, it's the first place my parents ask to go when they visit Dallas from NJ and the first place my daughter wants to go when she has the day off from school.

Had eggs frittata was extremely delicious, sausage was great as was the cheese. Our waiter and hostess were friendly and the price was right on par! Great place to stop by if your traveling through, also inside it's very clean.

Their self description is 'homestyle goodness meets traditional diner.' To this should probably be added, 'in uptown friendly style.' Because I don't know about you, but quiches and frittatas aren't on my home menu, though I suppose corned beef hash gives them some solidarity with diners. The space is open and well lit. I especially liked their whisk light fixtures. I hope they add more in that vein. If sweet rolls are your thing, definitely try the sticky bun.

I take my breakfast very serious and this place exceeded my expectations. Everything is made in fresh in house and you can taste the difference. My red pepper, Texas chorizo and American cheese frittata was very good but what made the meal was the fluffy side of blueberry pancakes. I will be going back to try their sticky buns the size of my face.

We love this place! Go for the specials, they're spectacular. We've had a few issues with the service, which is more of an issue since we have a toddler and therefore need wait staff who are prompt and ready to get rid of us. Had to actually ask about our food, which is crazy. But otherwise, we love it. We eat here all the time, it's our go-to Dallas brunch!

Interesting and disappointing at the same time, Crossroads Diner presents quite the conundrum. Although it didn't quite come on the scene with the hype of In-N-Out Burger, its accolades occupied just about every food column and blog in town. Cheers of "best pancake in DFW" and " mind altering sticky bun" generated large crowds and happy diners despite complaints of long waits. Obviously, it would be hard to visit without having high expectations but sadly my breakfasts there did not justify Crossroads' reputation. Crossroads has a lot of nice things going for it. The restaurant is large and fairly open, which allows for conversations to be heard even when it is full. The decor is simple but quaint with the kitchen motif touches such as silverware accents on the walls and whisk shaped lights add to a warm, comfortable feel. The service is efficient, and the cashier/hostess staffers are pleasant. The focus should be on the food, of course, and that aspect of Crossroads is certainly decent. Let's start with pancakes, which are light and airy, and absorb the syrup perfectly. The side short stack was good, but the blueberry entree was severely lacking in fruit and really could have been more substantial for the price. As a pancake fan, I would happily eat them again, but only if nearby. I did find the pork hash to be intriguing. The mix of potato, onion, and spice gave off a tender carnitas like vibe and paired happily with scrambled eggs. The daily special of sticky bun french toast was well-received. Unfortunately, the famed sticky bun by itself has flopped each time. It is far too stiff! Maybe it is better at 7am when it is fresh or perhaps it might please more with cream frosting, but i am done trying to find out. So, if you are looking for a breakfast experience beyond your local IHOP, Crossroads definitely fits the bill. Just temper your expectations, and come early to miss the crowds.

Food is still good but I didn't know I don't get refills on thing's like orange juice especially when I paid almost 3 buck's for it. I waited for 30 min for a refill and then when I asked for it and received my check I realized I was charged twice.

This is a preemptive 1 star to whatever replaces 8121 Walnut Hill. A bookmark, if you will. FYI Mecca moved out of my neighborhood -- where it had been for 70 years -- and subsequently went BUST not long after. You won't even find them on yelp anymore. Brace for impact. Double, triple, quadruple your efforts. But at least you went to a cheaper hood where as they tried to upscale. I assume Cypress / Staubach will be tearing down that historic building too? Neat.

Lets break this down. The food: Great buttermilk pancakes Good frittata Ok hash browns Ok tomato basil soup Great bacon Great waffles The service: The electronic name list thing is great. You can get a text when your table is ready! Long wait Ok service, the waiters time is very divided. No problems splitting checks The cost: For 2 orders of bacon, 1 Order of eggs, a frittata, hash browns, pancakes, and 2 orders of pecan waffles $33. Good deal. Overall above average breakfast place

I was in town for a brief visit with family, and we decided to go out for breakfast. They could not stop talking about the Pecan Pancakes, so I just had to find out what all the fuss was about. When we walked in the door, we were immediately greeted with smiling faces...and not just from the employees! EVERYBODY there was happy! And why wouldn't they be?? This was HANDS DOWN the BEST restaurant breakfast I have ever had. I chose the Brioche French Toast, and it was love at first bite. It was the perfect consistently, and HUGE! And they served it with warm syrup....OMG I can still taste it! My son had a Fritatta, and my sister-in-law had the Pecan Pancakes. Everything was cooked to perfection. The coffee was perfect, as well...not too hot, not cool...it was just right! The prices were great, too! They obviously have gourmet chefs in the kitchen, so I would have thought the prices would be higher...and I wouldn't mind at all, given the quality of the food! I just can't say enough about this place. Wish I could give it 10 stars! I don't get to Dallas often, but the first chance back, I will definitely go. RUN...don't walk to Crossroads Diner! You WILL NOT be disappointed!

Tried this place on a Saturday morning. I've lived in Dallas my entire 40 years...never knew of this pace. In a word...great. Service was a bit slow ...but I discovered it was due to a large crowd after a race was cancelled across the street. Service was nice and unobtrusive . You must try the sticky bun! It's enough for 2-4 and very sweet, but it's great! They offer standard breakfast fare but also some nice, healthy options. Great weekend breakfast place.

Crossroads diner has excellent food. It's a little expensive for diner food, but it's expensive because it's damn good. If I want cheap breakfast, I can (and do!) eat at Denny's. When I want a step up, I eat here. Their normal menu is quite good, but seriously, check out the specials.

First let me start by saying that I was so disappointed to give this a 1 star review. I truly had high hopes for this place considering the chef's culinary past! I was unable to eat most of my breakfast - the hash browns were burnt, the over easy eggs were barely cooked, the grits were extremely greasy and my biscuit was not cooked through. Needless to say, our breakfast was free, but that is not how we wanted it! The manager came by the table to ask about our experience and brought her daughter with her. She was advised that we sent most of our food back, so thought it was strange that she acted like she didn't know the situation. Her daughter kept cutting us off when explaining the deficiencies with the food - thought that was highly unprofessional. Unfortunately, I don't see this place making it!

Pretty insulting that Chrissy hangs up on my wife and I (4 times) when we just called to see if Crossroads accepts reservations for Sunday brunch. We ask the question and she hangs up the phone. 4 times. Wow.

  • Robert I.

Sticky Bun - Great; the rest was average As we expected the Sticky Bun was great. My wife was disappointed that there were not more meatless breakfast entrees and the waiter did not offer to accommodate besides pointing out one with olives. I had a traditional (eggs, bacon and pancakes) breakfast and it was just average. The applewood bacon was tasty, My breakfast also included grits and I have eaten grits my whole life. These were not good and were left basically untouched. The lunch menu looked good, but we were there for breakfast. Maybe another time, but for lunch.

I've been wanting to try Crossroads for a while, so when we were able to walk in and sit right down I was pretty excited. Service started out slow, but once our server got to the table he was pretty on top of things. I ordered coffee, but it was super bitter so I only had one cup. My water glass had lipstick on it that wasn't mine, so I stole my husband's glass and all was well. The real let down in this whole experience was the food. My eggs reminded me of what you would get off of a steam table at a buffet, which was a total bummer. I didn't care for the bacon either. :( Sad panda. The pancakes were very good- light and fluffy. Overall I wasn't impressed and don't think we will be back.

Bummer... I had a solid 4.5 star experience my first time here, and put the hard sell on a small group to try it out for breakfast Sunday morning. Sadly, the second visit was just about opposite of the first. For starters, we were told there would be a 25 minute wait, and after waiting patiently for close to 40 minutes, we checked on the status of our table, only to find our name had been crossed off though we had never been called and our buzzer had never gone off. They were already halfway down the next page of names when we checked in, and all the hostesses were completely bewildered as to why. Lame! So they quickly crammed us into a crowded side room, where they sat our table along with two other large-ish parties at the exact same time for the same waitress. Needless to say, she was a little harried. My coffee came with a free swimming insect (which I politely declined), the food came out cold, and the sticky bun (which was ordered as the starter - it's even listed under "First Things First" on the menu) came out 5 minutes after the rest of the food. I heard someone from the table next to ours ask the waitress if "they forgot to make our food," and felt a little better about the fact that I had cold food instead of no food. We had to get up from the table more than once to get things for ourselves from the waitress station (straws, butter, ketchup), and they sat a new party of 10+ for her before we had even finished our meal. We were not the only party voicing our complaints when paying the bill at the host stand, and they didn't care about our dissatisfaction anymore than the party complaining before us. The kicker was when they threw our receipt in the trash can instead of giving it to us, then began to fish it back out when we asked for our copy. (We politely declined that too.) The deliciousness of the late-arriving sticky bun was the only saving grace. Had a totally rad experience the first time I dined here, but sadly won't be crossing that road again (ba-dum-ching!) any time soon.

Went this past Sunday with my son. This time I had breakfast, the Crossroads fratatta (hope spelled right). Basically a open faced omlet and I had them make for me with eggwhites. It was very good! They let me substitute a little which made me happy! My son got the curry chicken salad sandwich with the potato chips they make in house. He was very impressed too!

DON'T TRY GOING THERE ON A MONDAY - THEY ARE CLOSED !! I found out the hard way - who would ever imagine a casual dining restaurnt being closed on Mondays - go figure!

  • Steve L.

The food is ALMOST worth the wait to get in AND the wait to get to the one-and-only cashier with your bill! I spent more time waiting to get in AND out of this place than eating my food. And what is the deal with the server in a breakfast place asking if you would like more coffee after just one cup and before the food was served-DUH, yes!

When I got here I looked it up on yelp to get some insight into what was good. I was shocked to see three stars. Then I read a few of the reviews and realized, hell, some of these people shouldn't be allowed to review a McDonalds, much less a good restaurant. Anyone who calls a 6-8 year old girl a bitch has some serious issues and probably doesn't need to be out in public much. Most of the other negative reviews centered around the wait. Yes there is a wait. When there are more customers than tables that means at least two things - 1) Its a good restaurant and 2) you're going to wait. If you walk into a restaurant and you see 30 people standing around, you have two choices - hit the road or sit your happy ass down with the rest of us! Now to the food. It is really good! When I got there I was thinking lunch but when I looked at the menu I had to go breakfast. The stick bun is awesome and I don't normally eat sticky buns. You don't see breakfast fare this creative and diverse very often. I had a ham and blue cheese fritatta that was awesome. The side of pancakes and sausage were excellent as well. My 13 yr old son, who is the finickiest eater on the planet, absolutely loved it. High praise indeed. I wasn't wowed by the service but I wasn't put off by it either. I think given the number of people they were trying to handle, they could have operated with a little higher sense of urgency but it wasn't a major issue. The decor is french country inn meets converted chinese buffet. If I lived in Dallas, this would be a mainstay on my breakfast/ brunch rotation

We love coming here when we can! Call us selfish, but it was tough when they got a best of award and got so busy. Their pancakes are soft and supple, and they have the best hollandaise I have had in a long time. Fantastic place to go!

    (4)
  • Ralph D.

I did not think anyone could mess up eggs but this place did with a citrus hollandaise on eggs benedict and medium poached became dry no running yolks and the ham on the the other eggs benedict was so salty the wife could not eat them. When a manager was informed she merely said I'm sorry and seemed perturbed when we told her (she stopped by our table we did not beckon her). The little waitress Laura was the only nice thing

Hit: corned beef hash and eggs over medium. Good rye toast. Miss: Frittata was nothing more than scrambled eggs with mix-ins. 6" pancakes are thin, light and have a vanilla flavor. Waitress and iced tea refills issue. Must go back and try eggs Benedict and lunch specials.

Best hollandaise on the eggs benedict in town. Also tried the chicken fried chicken, and it was the best I've EVER had. The chicken was moist and tender, and the batter was full of flavor. Yummy!

I was craving nourishment of the breakfast persuasion a few weekends ago which is unusual for me and my guy Yelps this joint so we head out with great expectations. It was around 10:30am on Sat so we had about a 5 minute wait - no biggie. The shockingly bright redhaired hostess was a cutie patootie and led us to our table. As our drinks are brought out, so is the breakfast setup of butter, jellies, and the syrup which I was warned to pour carefully because it is homemade and runs on the thin side. I'm starting to get a warm feelin' in the lower extremities and I start my countdown to food delivery! I get the Brioche French Toast with what has to be homemade sausage. The room was crowded and I was wishing for a little alone time with my plate [if ya know what I mean ; ) ]. My man orders the Bacon Frittata and says it is all creamy goodness. I had also ordered a side of grits (a fav) but alas, it was not to be :( . I am a purist when it comes to grits and white gravy and cheddar cheese had already been added to the grits - boo hiss! I would have preferred that I be asked BEFORE they were served if I wanted any part of this travesty so I could have said, "Hell to the NO". And someone mentioned the hashbrowns as being soggy but ours were just the opposite and were dry and overcooked. I DO want to come back and try other dishes because I believe, overall, that this place rocks. They also have a kids breakfast and lunch/dinner menu that states that sweets or fruit cannot be consumed before they've eaten their veggies. Yes!!! - I'm bringing my 10 yr old here! B says check it out!

After a 7am meeting on a Sunday, some coworkers and I were on the hunt for something to fill us up before our evening shifts. We had a 30 minute wait which was understandable for a Sunday morning, but felt too long, looking at the size of the restaurant and how quickly we got our food once we were seated. Knowing I got free pancakes for the Yelp check-in, I looked for a savory dish to enjoy as well- behold the Kalamata frittata. Fluffy, slightly dense eggs with a nice mixture of feta, olives and roasted red peppers so you get a bite of each as you go along; served with crunchy multi-grain toast and a plate of just crispy, just soft hashbrowns. Cinnamon Apple pancakes were great: lightly sweet, with warm apples popping from the cake. Just enough warm house syrup to add to it to really top it off. Tried a bite of my coworker's French Toast- AMAZING; in both presentation and flavor. Hoping to make it back to try the "famous" sweet rolls and more.

Superior diner food. Some real standouts (sticky buns, frittatas, corned beef, etc... see the other reviews). Crossroads is one of the better breakfast spots in Dallas. Expect a wait. Don't expect speedy service. This is one area the diner should improve on. Odd ambience. This cavernous facility isn't being used to its potential, but then, who cares? Bring on the sticky buns!

I usually don't write reviews cause I am not much of a writer however this place served me one of the best things I have ever eaten. Visited on 5/22 and the special that day was a schnitzel on grits with spinach a poached egg and hollandaise. Wow what a combo. Never had anything like this and with the creaminess of the grits combined with the crunch of the schnitzel it was perfect. The spinach was a little sweet and not at all bitter like I am used to. Eggs were poached perfectly and the hollandaise perfectly delicate.

Based solely on service, this restaurant is not worth the visit! I've been twice, and my first experience was awful. The wait was long, which was fine, but there were empty tables everywhere. As a side note, being from a city where waiting is normal, I really don't mind. Some other yelp reviewers seem to think that people just complain about the wait to complain, but I promise you that I've waited two for more hours for really good food and was happy to do so! Anyway, We chalked this wait up to them being newly opened. When we sat down, we ordered immediately, then waited about 40 minutes only to have our waitress say she lost our ticket. She said our food would be out ASAP. After another 40 minutes our food arrived. What made me the most frustrated was that we had pancakes and quiche. Those orders seemed simple enough. The food was good, but not amazing as most reviewers experienced. Oh, and to top it off our waitress gave us my hot tea complimentary to make up for the delay. After how long we waited for our food I expected a little more compensation. We left frustrated and confused, but we again thought these were just opening kinks. Today, my boyfriend and I were in the area again, so we decided to give it another try. The restaurant has been open a while now, so we expected less delays etc. There was a wait again, which was fine. The hostess said 15 minutes, but 30 minutes later our buzzer had not gone off and we watched two different tables for 2 who had walked in after us get seated for no apparent reason. I'm pretty sure this place doesn't take reservations, but I have noticed that some of the "regulars" get recognized and are perhaps given favoritism. At this point we started to get confused and some other people around us started to notice the same thing. We left angry after a group who stood next to us was just given a buzzer and waited about five minutes before getting seated. Another group walked out as well. Surprisingly, when I went to review this restaurant, I discovered that several other reviewers had similar experiences. Clearly, this place needs to get their act together. The service is so awful and there is really no excuse. They should take notes from places like Breadwinners and Dream Cafe about how to handle a wait. I would recommend both of these places over Crossroads any day. I will not being returning or giving them another chance. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

The food here is very good (great breakfast style food), but the atmosphere of an old Mexican restaurant which was once an 80's nightclub has very poor acoustics and is loud with very high ceilings. The pancakes and eggs benedict are absolutely delicious though! And I'm told (wink wink) the sweet rolls are delicious too. I wish the coffee cups were bigger, but hey, we're not in Europe I guess. I will continue to go here, I just wish the ambience was better.

I had breakfast this morning for the first time at crossroads diner. Very disappointed in the service repeatedly had to ask for water and coffee. It then took anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes to get either one refilled. The restaurant was it busy so there was no excuse for the poor service. I also found it to be very overpriced for the quality of the food. $3.00 for a cup of coffee outrageous. And managed to only get 2 cups in 30 minutes because it took so long for them to bring a refill. Also the price of the breakfast I was shocked they only serve one slice of toast. I had to pay extra for hash browns On my breakfast. Because they are not part of the regular breakfast meal. Eggs were ok nothing spectacular the only thing that was outstanding was the pork breakfast sausage patties they were excellent. But two Pattys were $4 extra. I ordered my eggs with applewood smoked bacon, it just tasted like regular smoked bacon nothing special and it was way over cooked. Probably would not go back are recommended to friends total bill was over 17 dollars for 1 person. Just a very disappointed went there because the local radio station 570 hype did to be a great breakfast place. They must be paying the station an awful lot to say that because I don't see it. I could had a breakfast at denny's that was just as good and had 2 slices of toast for about $10.95.

This place was pretty amazing. I had the frittata with applewood smoked bacon and cheddar, deliciously seasoned hash browns and whole wheat toast with house-made jam. My husband had the pork tostada with eggs, a side of pancakes and it was phenomenal.

Came here for brunch on a Wednesday. Sort of a mixed experience, but overall I would recommend this place. I say mixed because the silverware had water stains or something because they didn't look super clean, and the clam chowder came out lukewarm. However, my eggs florentine was excellent and the pancakes were really fluffy, really very good pancakes. I will come back and try the cinnamon buns, as those looked awesome but I was too full to try them. The service was good too.

I like this place! I have visited about three times now...each time on a Sunday morning. Be prepared for a 25 minute wait for sure! Lots of families, children, church crowd...normally not my scene, especially when I'm hungover....BUT the food is good! I feel like I've had chicken fried steak, a frittata, and chicken and waffles...it' was all really tasty for sure. They serve alcohol...beer and little champagne drinks! The waitstaff is always really friendly and fast! A BIT pricy, I GUESS...but it's worth it!

daddy would you like some sausage? daddy would you like some sausages?! get the sausages here. i've eaten here quite a few times since i work acros the street and i can say comfortably that crossroads knows how to do breakfast. not that kitchy chicken and waffles jazz. just straight up breakfast. get sausage, eggs, hash browns and toast and enjoy yourself. there are plenty of places i'm sure where you can indulge your craving for baked apple margartia spiced pumpkin shortbread pancakes and the like. this is not one of them.

Cute large place that seems to have just opened recently. Our friends told us about it so we decided to join them for a late breakfast Sunday morning. I think this place has potential but there are some kinks to work out. Our friend asked for corned beef hash an scrambled eggs...easy enough right? Not so much. First time out = corned beef hash, but over medium eggs. Next attempt at getting his order right = scrambled eggs and hash browns with chorizo. The third time was the charm. I enjoyed my pancakes, which were huge and fluffy and everyone enjoyed their meals, but the STICKY BUN stole the show. We shared 1 for 4 people, it is big people. Big and yummy. But then...a fail with the bill, we were overcharged. So yes, kinks to work out...but potential for sure.

Crossroads Diner is a perfect example of a place firing from all cylinders. It is not terribly expensive, the food is good, and the portions are right. I was expecting good, fancy diner food on a Sunday morning, but I definitely was not expecting a 45 minute wait for a table of 2! After the long wait, we put in an order for the famous sticky bun, and it was pretty amazing. I am no sticky bun fanatic, but this was certainly a great one, maybe the best that I have eaten. It is sticky, tender, and not too sweet. What else could you ask for? The chicken tortilla soup was the surprise of the meal. It was so complex and smoky, and a lot thicker than your usual Mexican broth-based stuff, which some people enjoy. I like my soups thicker, personally. For being a food snob, I enjoy a simple egg salad every once in a while, although I do not like to cook it for myself. I always enjoy eggs better at restaurants for some reason. It was a solid egg salad, sandwiched between two earthy pieces of wheat bread. Alongside the sandwich was house-made chips. The not-as-good surprise was the meatloaf. The meat was good and all, but it did not have that wow factor. The au jus was rich, and the mashed potatoes were moist. I guess I just had my hopes too high, especially since the meatloaf took 45 minutes to come out of the kitchen! They were apparently still baking my meatloaf after the lunch menu started. Some kinks here and there, but definitely a solid meal. If I went back for dinner and had a great experience, this would definitely be a go-to spot in Dallas. But with a long wait and a meatloaf that also took a long wait, I must put the 5 on hold, Crossroads.

A group of us decided to check out Crossroads after a Saturday morning run. I was hoping to love it as it's not too far from home and in an area that desperately needs decent breakfast options. It wasn't a problem to get a table for 14 people, which is a huge plus right off the bat. We started off by ordering a couple of their "famous" sticky buns for the table. 5-10 mins later, we were told they only had one left. What?? It's their most famous item and at 10am they only had one left? Um..ok. There ended up being 5 or 6 of us sharing that one sticky bun, so we didn't get much, but what I did have was fantastic. They're huge, so I'd say each one can feed 2-4 people. Delicious. I went with the red pepper, chorizo, and goat cheese frittata with wheat toast and homefries. The homefries were perfectly cooked: crispy and brown, just how I like them. The wheat toast was also quite good: it was the kind with lots of nuts and seed in the bread, not that fake crap that's really just white bread with brown food coloring. The frittata was very good with just the right amount of each ingredient. Service was good. We were a big table and our waiter was super nice and was kind enough to give us all separate checks. Things were a little bit slow, but we weren't in a rush, so it wasn't a huge deal. I would definitely be open to working this place into the post-run breakfast rotation.

I had read the reviews about the cinnamon bun, and of course, I needed to see for myself! It was huge and is enough for 3 people. I ordered the ham and blue cheese fritta. The ham was very tasty and in large gennerous chunks, the blue cheese was melted and the hashbrows were yummy as well. I didn't even waste a bite on the wheat bread (too full from cinnamon role) but it was a nice hearty and healthy bread with sunflower seeds, etc. I did split the breakfast with a friend, the portions are huge! I can't wait to return to try more of the menu. Nice atmosphere to have a meeting if needed.

Eaten there a few times. Both for breakfast and dinner. All I can say is the Chef has done an amazing job with the food and the service was great. Went to breakfast on a Sunday with 15 people. Though the wait was a little long the food and service made up for it. I had read a few reviews on the restaurant before we went and wanted to give it a try. All I can say is that it was worth the wait. Starting off with a there signature sticky buns. Lets just say that they were to die for. So all 15 people ordered different things and there were not hick ups with anything. There were quite a few special requests and the kitchen got them all right the first time, and it all came out on time and together. Now lets talk about lunch. Took a few Friends for lunch and lets just say they are already thinking about going back. One of my friends had a meeting the following morning, and she said " I need to change my meeting to Crossroads Diner, this place is amazing". I think the quote speaks for itself. The Chef Tom Flemming has done an amazing job. As difficult as this economy is, he has taken a huge chance and has done a great job. I wish him and the restaurant much success

I would love to give 5 stars, if only to help raise the rating, because this place does NOT deserve a measly 3 stars! The food is DELICIOUS! I am not from Dallas, and while I miss a lot of things from home, one thing I mourned for 2.5 years was the loss of a Sunday brunch spot. Nothing I had ever tried in Dallas had truly culinary-trained expert chef-prepared brunch. Most places I came across either were truly terrible or had an inexperienced or second-shift chef on Sunday. Crossroads has given me a chance to brunch again! The wait is long, which is the reason for the 4 stars. Expect to arrive approximately 45 minutes prior to when you would like to eat. If you have a tiny child, particularly one that expresses its displeasure with waiting in a loud and possibly annoying way, it might be best to obtain a babysitter for this dining experience. The food is not particularly child-friendly in my opinion, and with the wait and the crowded nature of the tables, your other diners will appreciate not meeting your child at this particular restaurant. Also, if you are person who expresses your displeasure with waiting in a loud and possibly annoying way, please don't bother coming here, as it will not increase the speed of the waitstaff in any way and your other diners will appreciate never meeting you at this particular restaurant. Sum total of all this, be prepared to wait and don't bitch about it! As people who are not from Dallas may be able to help enlighten the natives to, most places, if you want a quality brunch, you plan to dedicate some bench time to it. But remember, bench time is the best time to determine what delicious food being whisked around the restaurant you want to try. And trust me, it will all look delicious! Everything I have tried here, from the sticky bun to the frittatas to the clam chowder to the Reuben, has been to die for! The menu is innovative but also includes some typical (and extremely well-prepared) favorites. The food takes what I consider an average time to come out from the kitchen once ordered, especially considering the constant crowd, but given the, on average, 45 minute wait for a table and 20 minute wait to order, it does seem like the food is SLOW. In reality, however, the waitstaff is just a bit slow. Table turnover takes approximately 60-75 minutes per table, which contributes to the long wait for a table. I personally believe that the waitstaff is generally hungover/exhausted from moonlighting as bartenders the night before hence the speed of movement, but everyone we've ever dealt with has been friendly, if slow, and can explain the menu and make knowledgeable recommendations, which is worth more to me in a brunch place than speed of service. One thing that really does bother me about Crossroads is, sadly, the behavior and general demeanor of some of the patrons. I firmly believe that this situation is the result of Crossroads's designation as in "Lake Highlands" (it's in Dallas people, off Walnut Hill between Greenville and Central Expressway)...this is NOT Lake Highlands, this is just plain ole Dallas. Some of the patrons are rather rude - to other customers, waitstaff, hostesses, children, anyone who comes near, looks at, or perhaps even exists in their vicinity. Perhaps this situation is compounded by the closeness of the tables at Crossroads. Whatever the root cause, some of the things you hear people say here are extraordinary! And not in a positive way! All in all, I eat here because the food is amazing and the prices are fine, a little on the high side but worth it for the quality! The decor is very cute, if a little on the feminine side, but the atmosphere of the restaurant is affected by some who eat there. Please don't expect the fastest food on the planet when you come here, but definitely come here, one Saturday or Sunday when you have a few hours and want to chat up with some friends. There's plenty of time and room for chatting, delicious and innovative menu choices, and it's truly brunch!

After seeing a review of this place on TV a few weeks back, I decided to try it out for a Sunday breakfast. By the time I arrived, my breakfast mates were already halfway through one the Diner's homemade sticky buns. This giant, sticky treat was topped with nuts and required a fork and knife to consume. It was so rich, and I really didn't want to spoil my breakfast, but it was so good that I couldn't really help myself. Besides, I already had a nice football nap planned right after the meal. As the sticky bun disappeared, our main courses arrived. I ordered corned beef hash with eggs and pancakes (many of their breakfasts are served with pancakes instead of toast or biscuits). My eggs were a little overcooked, but my plate was otherwise stellar. The corned beef hash was clearly scratch-made - with tasty chunks of corned beef and fresh hash browns. Hands-down, it was the best I've ever had. I thought the pancakes would be too heavy, but they were right-sized, light and fluffy, and extremely edible. Excellent good-old-fashioned pancakes! One of my mates ordered the eggs florentine, and it was kind of unconventional presentation. English muffins were the base, but then there was excellent smoky ham, pefectly poached eggs, and a tasty spinach sauce - a nice complement to the smoky/salty ham. Thumbs up. The other dish we sampled was the Greek fritatta. It was chock full of Kalamatta olives, sundried tomatoes, and hunks of feta cheese. Very tasty, and almost healthy. Almost. Overall, I give this place four thumbs up. The service was prompt and friendly, the food was excellent, and the prices were perfectly reasonable. I will leave one caveat: We arrived at 10:30 on Sunday, which was early enough to beat the rush. However, by 11AM, the line was starting to grow in the lobby. Oddly enough, not all tables were full. It seemed as if they were trying not to overwhelm the kitchen and wait staff by filling every table. So, if you don't want to wait in line, get there early. I can't wait to go back for lunch!

Don't do it! Whomever reviewed them for "best" -anything must have been bribed. Slow service, watered down syrup, we received a plate with curdled hollandaise, and their floor plan makes for an obstacle course coming and going from your table. Not a good experience.

Didn't give it 4 stars because of the service. Slow, and the attitude of the wait staff was indifferent. Sort of "we will be busy no matter if you eat here or not, so I'll get my tips one way or another. The food, however, was great. Cinnamon buns perfect, best pancakes I've ever had and the coffee was pretty good as well. If I go back it will be knowing the service is going to be poor.

ehhh, breakfast should never ever be blah... but thats what i felt like after finishing. I was looking forward to trying it knowing the chef's good history, but i could have made the same thing at home.... Tip: coffee is decent, try the sticky bun apparently

Another trip and another 5 stars. Went @ 9AM on a Sunday and got seated immediately. Love the fact that your table is not jammed up next to someone else. Wait staff was super attentive and patient with coffee-starved brains. Sticky buns are to die for. Had the corned beef hash and loved it. Still wish they would upgrade their coffee beans, but that's the only negative to a great Sunday breakfast.

After stumbling on an awesome writeup about the place on DMag, ( dmagazine.com/Home/D_Mag… ) my coworkers and I bundled up and walked across the street out the new place. The deli downstairs and the hospital cafeteria had a good run, but it's time to move onto greener pastures. For being a former Chinese buffet, the decor was nice and cheery and I had high hopes as we were being seated. Our server was on his 2nd day on the job, so we surprisingly had really good service for a newbie :) The menu is mostly of the breakfast variety, with the usual salad/sammiches. There are a few heartier entries like fish and stew. The curried chicken salad caught my eye and my friends ordered the pork hash and frittata. I enjoyed my lunch although I thought the curry flavor was a little mild for my taste. It came on wheat bread with a LOT of whole grain, maybe too much. The homemade potato chips were a bit bland, but nothing a sprinkle of salt won't cure. I had a taste of my friend's pork hash and it was really yummy. I think if I come back, I'd order it for myself. My friends also ordered grits on the side and both commented that it was different, but not bad. Take it or leave it. Finally, we closed out the meal with their famous sticky buns (we shared one between the 3 of us). It came out on a warm plate looking delish. The good thing is that it wasn't covered at all in icing, so while there was a lot of sweet sauce, it wasn't overly rich. All in all, I'd definitely come back when I get the hankering for some breakfast/sticky buns. Join the sticky bun club, buy 9 and get your 10th one free HAHA

I'd give it more like 3.5 stars. E and I went here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. We had been waiting patiently to try the place, as our excitement for another eating place near our house could not be kept any longer. We of course shared the sticky bun; OMG most amazing sticky bun I've ever had. Then, I had the tuna sandwich- it was really good, but weird that I had to add lettuce and tomato to it... would have thought that it would already come on the sandwich. The chips are homemade and really flavorful and not greasy. E had the corned beef sandwich and really liked it. Good flavor and not fatty. Service was great, but the line to pay the bill was hectic. Need to work that out. The next day we decided to go back (shhh don't tell) with some friends to try the breakfast. Started with the sticky bun, obvs, and then I had the feta, turkey and egg white omelet with hash browns and toast. E had the corned beef hash, which took a few times to get it out right. Breakfast experience wasn't as enjoyable as lunch, but I did taste the pancakes and they sure were delicious. A few kinks to work out, but if they keep up the great menu and friendly waitstaff (not to mention stay open for dinner) this place will succeed!

Most of the comments here are about the food, and most are favorable at that. I am here to write about our waiter. We went on 3-17-13. We squeezed in just before closing, and being a server myself for many, many years, I know this can be frustrating for waiters. BUT, the place was still bustling, and he didn't arrive at the table for close to 10 minutes anyway. Also, the problem with late arrivers is the cluelessness; I being a server know to order fast, eat fast and get out. Late arrivers that "camp out" are the real issue (we were in and out in 35 minutes) So we made our quick decisions.....and then Joe arrived. He did not smile. HE DID NOT SPEAK. He did a little twirl with his hand as if to order US to speak. I have never seen anything like it. It was so disrespectful and condescending that my daughter and I were just shocked. He was so impatient with us that he began walking away before my daughter had finished speaking. All the mistakes that were made thereafter would probably have been forgiven had we gotten a waiter with a SOUL. If he's going to treat us like he's doing us a big favor by taking our order, he'd better get the damn order right. My vegetarian daughter asks for no ham on her eggs florentine, but he's too busy practicing his arrogance to mention the sauce has bacon in it. A sticky bun arrived that we didn't order. Grits were forgotten. No condiments were provided for the oatmeal, pancakes and english muffin, i.e. syrup, butter, cream etc. Again, all would be shrugged off had we not been treated like scum. The manager got involved, and made sure a new waiter took care of our needs. His name was Adali and he was awesome. And then the check was wrong, since the first waiter didn't take off the cinnamon bun that wasn't ordered. Basically a disaster from start to finish. The food was good. I have been in the restaurant business for many years, as server and as manager. I recognize when there are issues that call for something to be taken off the check. My daughter's egg dish would be one of them. Just that, nothing else. She did not get what she ordered. She ordered an egg dish with a creamy spinach sauce, no ham on the eggs. But the original waiter either was ignorant of the fact that the sauce had bacon in it, or forgot. Adali offered some sauce alternatives, but nothing really struck her, then she accepted sliced tomatoes. Ok. But she didn't get what she had wanted, and the original waiter made (another) big goof by forgetting something important. Management could really have smoothed my ruffled feathers by at least comping this ONE item. Just as a gesture. But it was not offered, and I did not ask. I will never go back.

A friend I went with our 3 and 7 year old. I enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. It was very busy at lunchtime and is perhaps a hotspot for the elderly, but overall I'd say it's worth the trip and family friendly. Considering there are not a lot of great restaurants in this area (that I know of) I'm glad it's here. Our table ordered a greek salad with chicken, breakfast schnitzel, pancakes and chicken tenders. Everyone cleared their plate.

After many visits to the Crossroads Diner, I am learning that I like breakfast there the best. When I stopped there for lunch I ordered tomato basil soup and a ham and cheese croissant. The soup was very tasty with the flavor of the fresh basil shining through to my tastebuds. Alas, the ham and cheese croissant was just ham and Swiss cheese placed between a split croissant with the sliced pickles on top. There was nothing very special about it. By the time the waiter brought out the requested condiments, the sandwich had cooled off as had my appetite for it. Luckily, my lunch companions had ordered way too much food from the breakfast menu and allowed me to share. When the waiter took away my all but uneaten sandwich, he didn't even inquire about the quality of my food and why I had only taken one or two bites. As I mull the experience, I can't remember when a member of the management staff has stopped by my table and asked if I enjoyed my meal. On this visit, I would have raved about the soup and expressed my disappointment with the sandwich. I would have extolled the virtues of my companions breakfast and quietly expressed my disappointment with lunch. I'll give lunch another try someday soon. But, I'll stay away from the items that I should have known Subway to do better.

Love this place for weekend brunch! I get the giant caramel roll for starters, then move on to a frittata or breakfast special of the day. Fantastic food, great friendly service, and a text message to your phone when your table is ready.

We used to go every weekend before the baby came, now less often. One of our favorite things was to complain to each other how bad the service was, but how great the food is! Is a huge conundrum, because the pancakes and frittatas are awesome, but the servers are slow and over seated. Now that we have a little one, we can't go because we can't spend so much time waiting on bad service - even for great food. They could probably speed things up by letting you pay the server, instead of waiting at the counter, and giving them fewer tables. If you have time to waste, go for the great food!

Check in with Yelp and get a free Blueberry Shortstack, just show your server. Except they still add it to your bill, and you have to show the coupon at check out to get them free....and if the register closes before you show it..oops, too late. And then the register girl is a total jerk and says no and now you don't know if you'll be back because customers service is a stinking pile. The kicker is the meal included free pancakes that we turned down because the free blueberry were coming...but we paid for those. Either their free or not free....answer? not free.

Love this place. Love the fact that when I go to Yelp to check in I received free blueberry pancakes but what I don't like is the fact that I got to pay for those pancakes! I showed my server the coupon he said show it when I check out. I paid cash and forgot to use coupon so I went back 3 minutes later to redeem and it was too late! That is REALLY LAME. I know I didn't do it right but really? I paid cash and went right back and too late? I got the"sorry" from check out girl but I feel it was FAR from sincere.

This is one of my favorite places for breakfast! Be forewarned that there is always a wait. The cinnamon bun is enormous and can easily be shared with several people. The pancakes are light and airy, the orange juice is fresh squeezed and but my two favorite items are the hash and the quiche. It is a dilemma which one I should order!

Mediocre at Best I have eaten here twice. The first time the food was pretty bad. I thought they might have had a bad day or I ordered something I should not have. You'd think pancakes would be pretty hard to screw up, but they managed to just that with my blue berry cakes. They were actually tough (hard to use that word with pancakes) and chewy and had a burned taste to them even though they were not burned. I asked for extra butter and it didn't arrive. Asked a second time and they took so long I had eaten all I could stomach. Second visit I ordered the blue berry waffle. The menu described it as "crisp". What was delivered by the surly waiter was a soggy mess. A wet chewy sponge made far worse by the menu described, "fresh whipped cream". The whipped cream was prepared in such a manner that the same results could be duplicated by vigorously shaking a carton of heavy cream for a few seconds and then pouring it over the waffle. It was horrible. The bacon that was ordered extra crispy arrived soggy and greasy and cold, like they cook it large batches and stored it in a foil covered bin, dispersing it as the orders come in. The sausage patties from my first visit were also cold and had tough, hard bits of gristle throughout them. This restaurant also has an annoying policy which they advertise flamboyantly throughout the place. They love the environment sooo much that they refuse to serve water unless you ask for it from one of their inattentive wait staff. In other words, they are cheap. This mentality clearly spills over into the food, the staff and the ingredients. Very disappointed not once, but twice.

My friend and I came here for lunch on a weekday and we got seated right away, there was no wait. It's pretty spacious in here. Lots of chatters and old folks. My friend said it reminded her of a school canteen minus all the kids. I ordered the egg Florentine and my friend got the apple wood bacon frittata. Both of us like the egg florentine a lot but the frittata is so so. Not exactly a cheese kind of fan. We checked in on yelp for a free short stack of blueberry and pancakes and they're delicious!! Crossroad is very generous with their blueberry. There's at least a dozen of berries in one pancake. The pancake is light and fluffy. I wouldn't mind coming here again but it's not something I would crave for or would drive more than 15' for.

  • Cindy D.

I was looking forward to fruit and blueberry short stack that is offered on YELP. However, it's seasonal. No berries in the winter. Instead, we got plain pancakes. They did have some decent jam for the pancakes, so that helped. I ordered egg, ham, and sticky bun. The sticky bun was awesome! I would go back just for that! Bill ordered a parfait bowl. It contained granola, grapes, pineapple, and melon, as well as apple chunks. He liked it. In spite of the disappointment about the short stack, I actually enjoyed my meal. However, check out was awful. The server added YELP to my receipt to indicate that I had shown my YELP badge to her. When I got to the register, the clerk charged me for the free pancakes. I showed her the receipt with the YELP on it and she got "silly." She "joked" about the fact that I got charged. I wasn't amused. I told her she should not joke about people's money. It's a touchy subject. I didn't find her humor a bit funny. I finally got my refund after some running around by the clerk. Not a fun experience. So, bottom line: I liked some of the food, but the disappointment over the berries and the clerk ruined it for me.

Only problem here is the wait. So expect a wait but the food is great. Pancakes can't be beat and the grits were a surprising win on the menu. The jams that comes with the biscuits and toast are fantastic and worth a buy! The biscuits, like the pecan rolls, are ginormous!

As mentioned in my previous reviews, if the words "diner" or "cafe" are in the title, your boy is there. Crossroads is a pretty hip little spot semi-tucked away off of Walnut Hill and the craziness that is all things 75. The building itself is pretty incredible and almost takes you back to a plantation type design with an open floor plan, white tiles and dark woods with tall ceilings. The staff is always incredibly friendly and even though I've been multiple times, chances are you can get the same wait-staffer who blew your mind previously. That says a lot about the place, or to me it does. The food, well the food is just on point all the way around. My typical go-to is the brioche french toast. We are talking bread sliced as thick as an encyclopedia, y'all. The menu is quite extensive although has a heavier focus on brunch or breakfast items. The food definitely has that soul-food vibe to it and keeps people like me coming back for more. Make sure you double check if they are open or not when you get a hankerin' for some sticky buns...their hours are Tues-Sunday only open until 2pm. That's not a bad thing, if you've got the market on lock-down with the goodness of all things Crossroads Diner, I can respect you kicking me out at 2. Definitely a must-have.

My parents were in town this past weekend and we were looking for a good breakfast spot before our busy Saturday. Having read some reviews on Yelp about this place, I decided to give it a go. When we got there (10am Sat) there was a brief wait but then were seated. I thought the atmosphere was very laid-back and pretty roomy. Our waiter immediately suggested the sticky bun, which was...un-freakin-believable! It was hard to figure out if we should order another sticky bun for our meal or delve into the menu. We chose the latter. So stinkin glad we did because each of our choices were delish! I got the pork hash, pops got the corned beef hash, and mom got a stack of pancakes. The pancakes were light yet substantial, the eggs were fluffy, but the pork hash was the winner. I don't know what it was, but there was this little spicy kick to it; enough heat to get your taste buds going but not enough to make it hurt to inhale. Great food, good atmosphere, attentive service--definitely will return.

The Sticky Buns were "As Advertised"-- must order them for breakfast....sooo worth it!!--- They were sold out when we arrived at 9am--- but were able to deliver in about 15 minutes! I also ordered an Egg Frittata filled with chunky applewood bacon and white cheddar--- very very tasty!-- The Crossroads Diner is much bigger than I imagined-- very cool building....neat atmosphere--

We decided to come here after seeing this restaurant on TV. We came here for breakfast during our Christmas break. We wanted some energy before we started doing our Christmas shopping. We started off with the Sticky Bun only because we wanted to see what all the talk was about. We liked the Sticky Bun it was Hugh but we did not want to spoil our breakfast by eating all of it, so we only ate enough to get a good tasting. What I do like about the Sticky Bun is the amount of nuts that were on the Bun. I'm not sure I like it better than a Cinnabon but because they are generous with the nuts I'm going to say they are neck and neck. I ordered the 2 eggs over medium and they came with hash-browns and toast. I opted out of getting the toast after I saw they had Whole Wheat pancakes. I got a side order of Short Stack Whole Wheat pancakes. The pancakes are not like most Short Stacks. Out came 2 Hugh pancakes and they were light and fluffy. With my order came 2 very nice size country sausage that were great and a generous serving of hash browns. My order was great, I loved it. My wife got the 2 eggs scrambled with the Applewood Smoked Bacon, Grits, hash-browns and wheat toast. Well my wife did not like her Grits but she loved the Applewood Smoked Bacon and my whole wheat pancakes. This place is great for breakfast and the portion sizes are hugh. The two of us had a lot of food and our bill was only around $26. At our next visit we know we can share a meal and maybe get a side order of 1 dish and be really full. If we could give it 4 1/2 stars we would. Because of the quality of food Crossroad serves, it far exceed a number of the existing Breakfast Restaurants. Great Job.

I actually enjoy this place. It reminds me of a large house where they serve you homestyle breakfast, and they do their best to make you feel at home. It's not all that pricey, however, I wish they had a better selection of veggies to add to your omelete. Other than that, they have my support.

If your time is unlimited and you have nothing else to do for the rest of the day, The Crossroads Diner should be on your short list. After a doctor's appointment with a fasting blood test, I was hungry for breakfast, but had a Noon appointment which was vital. I arrived at Crossroads Diner at 11:00 AM and was promptly seated in the West dining area which had only one or two other tables occupied. Two thirds of the tables in the entire restaurant were empty. After selecting the Eggs Benedict and coffee, I was prepared to ask the server to bring out my check immediately, as there was no extra time if I intended to meet my Noon appointment. While one server did stop at another table and talked with that diner, she ignored my unmistakable silent eye contact with the menu in front of me and strode back into the kitchen, leaving me hungry and looking at my watch. At ten minutes after 11, I picked up my menu and walked back to the hostess stand. I announced that no one had taken my order after I had been there for ten minutes and that I was going to leave, which I did. We have frequent visitors from out of town whom we take out to breakfast. In the past, we have split these breakfast outings among Breadwinners, Another Broken Yolk, and Crossroads Diner. To avoid mismanaged inconveniences such as was experienced this morning, we do not intend to return to Crossroads Diner...... unless it is one of those days in which we have absolutely nothing else to accomplish that day. My son was a waiter in Manhattan while he was doing the twentysomething Manhattan experience. He advised me that restaurants which left customers stranded had little life expectancy, as the the word gets around. The owners of Crossroads Diner would do well to examine the common thread of dissatisfaction among the reviews for it in Yelp to see that indifference by the waitstaff is a constant. This is a failing of management to recognize that they have a deeply flawed management defect which might well be the root cause of their failure. The restaurant business is not one famous for granting second chances. You might find the BW eggs benedict at Breadwinners on McKinney Avenue at Hall Street to be outstanding, and you will never have the sense of abandonment as you sit at your table looking in despiration for a server. You get served promptly and effectively at Breadwinners by the very interesting waitstaff. Life is too short to put up with poorly managed businesses that fail to appreciate that their customers may have other pressing things to accomplish that day. bon appetite!!! dormand

Only 3 stars because it closes at 2! The food was delicious. The atmosphere is very welcoming even in though it was very full. We waited about 20 min but it was worth it. I had the pulled pork hash that was good. But my GF had the chorizo. The salsa and the homemade flour tortillas were awesome. Oh and can't forget about the good pancakes. That is all.

Brunch service was horrible. Our large pary had to wait our own table to get basic necessities like water, coffee, silverware, ketchup, straws, etc. Juice was served in skimpy shot glasses. Kitchen forgot to prepare orders for part of our table. If service continues at this pace, this diner will be closed within a few months. Clean up you act Crossroads!

This place was PACKED on Sunday at 1pm and evidently it's like this every Sunday! We had to try the sticky bun because of all the wonderful reviews. There wasn't a liar in the bunch! The sticky bun was delicious but the two of us couldn't begin to finish it. It was very, very yummy and sticky enough to cure any sweet tooth. My husband opted for the corned beef on rye and he enjoyed it tremendously. I ate the pit-smoked ham with white cheddar on a toasted croissant. It was delicious! Every plate coming out of the kitchen looked good enough to eat and we will be back to try something different very, very soon! The kitchen moves very quickly so even though we were told we'd have to wait 45 minutes for a table, we were seated in 25. Keep in mind the restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch so make sure you get there in time! Closed on Mondays, open other days 7am-2pm. Definitely worth the trip.

It's more a restaurant than a diner, despite the name. The food is a cut above the sort of diner food you get in New Jersey or Pennsylvania. We ordered a sticky bun for the table (there were 5 of us) and coffee while we waited. The sticky bun was great. We had corned beef hash, eggs benedict, quiche, schnitzel and grits, and yogurt with fresh fruit. They were all excellent. The service was slow for a "diner", even for a regular restaurant. A good choice for a more upscale breakfast or lunch than IHop or Denny's, as long as you aren't in a hurry.

This place was nice. The seating and atmosphere was comfortable, the staff were friendly and interesting in our experience, and the food was good. I had the breakfast skillet with salsa verde and homemade tortillas. It was all very yummy. The pancakes were tasty, fluffy, and perfect. Also a bonus was they served Dublin Dr Peppers which was a pleasant treat!

Traveling for work I wanted to eat out for breakfast and after reading yelp reviews (and it was close to my hotel-courtyard marriot) I decided to try it. AT 9:30 AM on a Friday they were pretty busy but still had plenty of tables open too. I sat immediately, ordered and was served my breakfast as ordered. I only tried simple things: scrambled eggs, toast, bacon (I asked for well done and it was perfect), hash browns (simple and delish not greasy) and pancakes (probably the best pancakes I have ever had). If I am back in Dallas I will 100% eat here again. The service was friendly, the only thing I didn't like was that she dropped my check when I was halfway done. The food was so good that I wouldn't take away a star for that.

Yuck. Everything was overcooked or undercooked. From dry, hard toast to hash browns that were cooked into one solid block (not on purpose) to undercooked pork, everything was awful. The famous sticky buns were dry and stale.

I had the frittata with country sausage, carmelized onions & housemade boursin cheese & loved every wonderful bite. My husband had the days special...pork shank with hashbrowns, hollandaise & poached eggs...it was fabulous is all I can say! It came with a side stack of the fluffiest pancakes I have ever tasted. I just wish the breakfasts was smaller so I eat one of those sticky buns but I never have room. I know...I dont have to eat every last bite on my plate but the food is too good not to. The Bloody Marys were the only weak spot...kind of bland but they are only $4. The place is always packed so the service can be a little slow at times, but the servers are always efficient and friendly. Expect a long wait but stick around and you wont be sorry you stayed!!

I'll have to agree with most of the mediocre reviews of this place. The restaurant is huge and tolerably decorated, but I can't see how they'll stay in business given the curse of that area. Our service was pretty good, but nothing to go nuts over. I will say that their biggest perk is the Illy coffee. It is delicious and my personal favorite, so big ups for that. However, the food is just not good. We ordered the sticky bun and it was just okay. We also ordered one of the breakfast dishes and it was bland. Even the gravy (for biscuits) was blah. I mean, how hard is it to come up with a decent gravy? It was just weird and I probably won't be back. I almost felt bad for them.

This must be the only game in town - that would be the only way to describe the long wait. The food was just "meh" at best. The service is friendly, the food smells wonderful while you are waiting and the interior is really inviting: especially the kitschy chandelier made with industrial-sized whisks. But that's where the good news ends. After waiting 30 minutes to be seated, we then waited another 10 min for a server who then made us wait 10 more minutes just to get some drinks. My kids ordered sides of eggs with their pancakes and the plates came out with gooey, wet, half-cooked eggs. I politely asked for them to be cooked some more - that took another 20 minutes after my repeated prodding. We ordered hash and eggs over easy - again, the eggs were almost raw. When my wife politely asked for them to be cooked some more, the waitress proceeded to give us an education on ordering, explaining that if she wanted the whites cooked too, then ask for over 'over medium'. We had never heard of such a such a thing - and neither has anyone else in the food industry Crossroads. Over easy means liquid yolk, not whites. And what happened to the customer is always right anyway? Furthermore, none of us could finish the blueberry pancakes we ordered because they had a funny aftertaste - detected by kids and adults. Oh, and the coffee tastes like water. So, that was a pretty disappointing breakfast. Beware the positive reviews - we just don't get it.

We decided to try this place for breakfast. I had really high hopes, I really wanted to like it because it is very close to home...but alas, nope. Ordered eggs benedict and pancakes, the plate came out hot (meaning it was sitting under the heat lamp), the hollandaise sauce had congealed and curdled and was solid like jello. I took one bite and couldn't eat any more. The pancakes were tasty, but the syrup is water with maple extract in it. It splashed off the plate. Syrup should not splash.

So it wasn't bad. That's what we left saying. Not exactly a glowing review, right? After all of the hype in D magazine, I wanted to give this place a try! So my mom and I made the trip up north a couple of weeks ago, and the wait was 45 minutes! We went to Cafe Brazil instead. So we decided to give it another try this morning- much earlier (8:15 with my little nephew in tow). Score- no wait! The service was friendly, the restaurant very cute, but the food was just passable. The sticky bun (we ordered one for the table) was huge and could easily feed 4. It was good, just okay. I think overall it was just too sweet. There was not a very good balance. My favorite cinnamon rolls have a less sweet dough and leave the sugar overload to the icing, but this was just sweet all over. The inside was a little too undercooked for my taste, as well. So, I ordered all sides (vegetarians- there aren't many breakfast options if you're looking for an egg platter. Pretty much everything has meat, unless you want to go with granola or yogurt, which I didn't.) I ordered 2 eggs over medium with wheat toast and fruit. The eggs came out barely over easy. They were super runny, and I was a little worried that they weren't cooked enough that it ruined my appetite a little bit. Nothing like getting sick from undercooked eggs. The wheat toast was yummy- seedy and a great flavor. The fruit was not impressive. Grapes, apple, pear and pineapple chopped up into little, tiny pieces. Maybe passable for a children's side, but for heaven's sake, not suitable for adults. We don't need microscopic fruit bits! And the fruit side was very small. I tried a bit of my mom's pancakes, which came as a side to her eggs benedict. They had a really lovely buttermilk flavor to them, but the syrup, wow. Again- WAY too sweet. Ruined the pancakes for me. She said her eggs were okay, but nothing to write home about. My nephew seemed pleased with his pancakes from the kids' menu, but then again he's 9. :) My experience was nothing like the raving review in D Magazine, and I was so disappointed. I was really excited about trying it. Too bad.

We tried this place after seeing the write up in the Advocate. I had really high expectations, Oh well. First I would never pay $3 for a basic cup of coffee. This is Texas and no Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs on the breakfast menu. Eggs ordered over hard came out over easy and waitstaff seemed rather indifferent that there was an issue. Overall I thought the food was overpriced, the service mediocre at best and it took nearly 45 minutes for our order to show up. What we did get was tasty.

Great new spot. Rarely will I write review about a new spot (too tough to judge while they work out the kinks), but I think this one is a winner from the gate. Went for lunch. The place was fairly empty (although the place is huge). The staff was attentive but somewhat slow and not overly knowledgeable about the menu (I put this on newness). Nothing bad but they will need to speed up service if they get busy. Food was outstanding. Fresh ingredients and simple great flavor. Burger was amazing and huge (bread and butter pickles received rave reviews). Whole wheat pancakes were great. Fluffy and light...which is a miracle with whole wheat! Grits had excellent flavor (and were not the standard instant variety) Salsa verde was amazing with good heat for a mild salsa Looking forward to eating through the rest of the menu.

I remember seeing a review about this restaurant on a local news channel this past weekend and wanted to check it out. It looked like down home cooking and I love that type of food. Apparently, the chef took a lot of his mom's cooking recipes and made them the stars of this restaurant. I went alone at lunch and was greeted as I entered the establishment. As I walked in, I saw THE chef talking to some of the guests. I thought that was pretty cool. I also so other chef looking guys hanging out. There was also a lady and gentlemen running the front of the house, next to the register. Good to see everyone taking time with the customers. I wanted breakfast and I ordered the 2 eggs and I chose the biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon. The waitress said it also comes with toast or buttermilk pancakes, and hashbrowns. I ordered the pancakes. Yes, my meal was a large amount of carbs. I must say the food was really good and it did remind me of the food I grew up with. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The order said two eggs, but It looked more like three. The hash browns looked like the normal shredded potatoes you get anywhere from a greasy spoon, but these must have been fried with bacon fat and salt. Yeah, they were very good. The pancakes were light and delicious. I think they were buttermilk. I would go back just for the pancakes. The bacon was thick and smokey. Not that skinny undercooked crap. The only thing that was a let down was the biscuits. The gravy was very good and sparingly used, but that's ok. The biscuits were very hard. Hard as a rock. I think If I tried to use a fork alone to cut them, they would have shot off of the plate. Using a knife was a little better of a try but still hard to slice. I picked the biscuit up on its side and sliced it like it was a flaky layered biscuit. It did cut much easier, I sampled the inside and it was a dense, buttery doughy middle. It had a really good taste. Unfortunately, the whole thing was pretty inedible except for the middle. Perhaps, the batch was made when they opened and they dried out. The whole meal was delicious and I will give them another try. I told the waitress about the biscuit and showed her how tough it was to cut, and she said she would tell the chef. I hope she did. It'd be nice to have met him or part of the staff. Not one of them stopped by to check on this diner. I'd love to hear more about his roots and his mom and her recipes.

I've been three or four times and am unimpressed with the food and service. We mentioned the excessive noise level to the manager, whose only response was to laugh. Not ... "I'm sorry I know it can get loud" ...or anything other than to laugh. We twice had to ask for setups and twice for a towel to clean up a water spill. I can understand a bad day, but this has been a consistent problem here. The food itself is breakfast food mostly. There are twenty better breakfast restaurants in Dallas, with better price points. I'm not going back

Went for Sunday brunch. Not what I expected from a place called a diner. The place is huge with lots of seating and even has an upstairs. You have the typical breakfast fare, typical Texas fare (chicken fried steak and eggs IS on the menu... Contrary to a previous post) and throw in a few gourmet items to boot. I had the spinach quiche which was extremely silky... Husband had the red pepper, chorizo, goat cheese frittata which was really great. Ordered a sticky bun to start things off... And it was ok... But that's only because I'm really not a sweet morning stuff person... And I don't like stuff with nuts on it. If I was able to... I would have given 4.5 stars. Not sure what's with the complaints about service... Our waitress was great. Wish she would have worn a name tag so I could give her appropriate props here. Coffee was good... Price was good too. If you're not a fan of spending more money than you would at Denny's, then just go to Denny's.

Best Pancakes in town. I go once a week for lunch. Nothing I have gotten has disappointed me. The highlights for me ba the corn beef hash, the eggs florentine benedict, and the meatloaf.

I have been here several times, off peak (lunch on Sunday) and the food was good and service OK, but my last visit was a disappointment. The wait was not the issue on that Sunday, that was OK, but we ordered Crossroad/s trademark "sticky buns", but they were out?! What is up with that?? And they were not making more, hmmm.

I took my mom there as I heard they had excellent eggs. Not so much. Hard and blah. The eggs came with biscuits and gravy. Gravy was cold. Biscuits were hard as rocks. The grits were watered down. Waffle was pretty good, but the syrup was watered down as well. And the hostesses are all so rude. No one smiles. No one says good morning. They just walk around like zombies. Such a shame really. Our waitress, however, was delightful. I may give it another shot, but not sure...

Went for brunch on Mother's Day. My Brioche French Toast with whole hog sausage was fabulous! The brioche was thick and soft and the sausage was a great salty compliment to the sweetness of the syrup. The brioche is served with real whipped cream too. Well worth the 20 minute wait on Sunday at 10:30 am.

I was disappointed with my experience at Crossroads for Sunday Brunch. The service was really awfully slow and it was frustrating to see others get seated, served and then leave all before we were ever served our meals. Our server was very green and needs some intense training. No one likes to hunt down their own coffee and water refills. She was just slow, slow, slow. Then there was the food. None of our eggs were cooked the way that we ordered them and the flavor of our other dishes was just so-so. Except for the grits. They were a big turn-off to me texturally and the flavor was quite greasy. I'd call those inedible. I hope they can work out some of the server issues (perhaps some upgrading is necessary). We've been waiting for something to finally open up in this area again and will be disappointed if this one isn't worth returning to. Right now, I'm not in a hurry to return.

Well we went here this morning to give it a try since we enjoy diner style food. Not really a diner. The place was nice enough. The service was not good at all and not very friendly. My first complaint was with a place that closes at 2pm anyway why not serve the full menu that you presented to me when i sat down. If you are going to have a breakfast menu and a lunch menu and only allow each one at certain times then they should be separate. So there were two of us so we decided to try the sticky buns. The waitress promptly told us it would be a 15 minute wait for them and this is at 730am. Sounds to me like someone needs to crawl out of bed earlier so that these items are ready when the restaurant opens. They were just ok. So I ordered the Chicken fried steak with grits and scrambled eggs. The gravy had no flavor and was very watered down, in fact just about everything there was runny and seemed as if they were trying to stretch it as far as they could. The grits were just ok. had no flavor either. But were still edible. The chicken fried steak was ok it could have used some seasoning. Honestly I felt as if I was eating at some nursing home where they are not permitted to season anything. My friend ordered the biscuits and gravy. Again the gravy flavorless and very runny. He ordered the pancakes. The syrup was so thin it was like putting water on your pancakes instead of syrup. For $32.00 I could have eaten much better at Cracker Barrel. We most definitely will not be going back.

Update 11-9-12, increased stars from 2 to 3 I had lunch there with my dad. We both had the cobb salad. It was awesome! SO fresh. The price was a little steep (almost 10 bucks if I recall correctly). Our waiter was a bit odd. He was not rude exactly, just very cold, like a robot. He did his job well, but it was if someone said to him,"remove all evidence of a personality and just do the basics." He did not crack a smile or acknowledge our attempts at friendly banter. Dad asked if there were any rolls or bread. The answer was a simple,"We do not have bread" and he walked off...It was strange. Like the old show says.."Just the facts ma'am" A few months before, 2 stars: My cousin and I went for a late breakfast last week. On a week day. We were seated right away. The waitress was nice and attentive. I ordered the pork schnitzel, which was on the "specials" board. I did not see the price, but assumed it would be much less than the one on the menu (12.50), since it was a special. Mt friend had a frittata. We waited and waited and waited... Finally so excited to get food, but very disappointed with the small potions. The schnitzel was a little greasy, but was good. It was on a small portion of cheese grits that were wonderful. The egg on top was cooked perfectly. We were still hungry after practically licking our plates. Wow i gasped when the bill came...the "special" was only a dollar off the regular price. Tea was 1.75. So, with tip, my (mine alone) small but tasty breakfast was 17.00!! Oh, and someone PLEASE tell the surly girl at the check out NOT to automatically toss the receipt in the trash! When asked for the receipt she was very put upon and commented that," the trash was very full", when my friend suggested she just pull it back out of the trash. It was probably right on top since it had been two seconds before. But, she made a big deal out of writing a receipt out instead.. whatever. Bottom line: good food, small portions, over priced

First off, the $4.50 sticky bun was more goo than pastry. And while the staff acknowledged this with an apology, we feel that consistency of the signature dish advertised on the building's side trumps two different excuses as to why it failed. The rest of the breakfast was just o.k., perhaps a step ahead of a Denny's. I can see that on its best day, this is a winner; but can also see that consistency is a real issue for this restaurant. Given the lack of customers (just one other table on a Sunday morning), it's still working out some consistency issues. Also, doesn't have a diner feel or even a fun feel; just kind of a slightly updated Catina Laredo turned Asian Buffet now Crossroads Diner which doesn't mesh given the breakfast/lunch atmosphere. Maybe worth trying to get lucky on a good day but not worth driving much out of the way.

Went back for third time. Since the D review, wait is almost an hour but worth the wait. Perfect mimosas while waiting for the must have sticky bun. Had same waiter as last time and he remembered us. Tried something new this time on waiters suggestion. The chorizo and goat cheese fritatta was perfectly cooked with the right amount of cheese, peppers and chorizo. Hash browns a bit over cooked but still mixed in well with a bite of fritatta. Try to get there before 10:30 to avoid the lines.

Alright, found this place on here of course and all the pictures looked awesome. Especially the sticky bun. So woke the wife and kid up early and headed out. Very easy and convenient place to find, right off 75 and Walnut Hill. The place was pretty cool inside, reminded me a bit of the Princess and the Frog restaurant inside. Sorry, my daughter has been watching that lately. lol. But seriously, we ordered the Sticky bun and honestly I was not impressed. It was sticky but not sweet at all. Maybe I was expecting something different and I may not know truly what a sticky bun should taste like but I wasn't feeling it. So I ordered the biscuits and gravy w/ scrambled eggs. Biscuits were sweet and gravy was skimpy. Not impressed at all. I guess I am more a "dive/diner/country" biscuits and gravy kinda guy. Wifey got pancakes, grits eggs and sausage. Sausage was GREAT. Eggs were decent. Grits were not too bad either. Pancakes were plain, nothing to write home about. Service wasn't bad, price was fair. I will not being going back though. Oh yeah, the little girl that worked there, she was about 6-8 years old, maybe helping out a family member or possibly a kid of an owner was a little bitch. :) She told my daughter don't go upstairs because of a private party and that they payed a lot of money as well as don't touch an item of their decor'. Kids can be honest and not mean harm but who cares!

Fist time to eat at this establishment... wasn't sure what to expect. Didn't expect the cappuccino that I ordered as soon as I was seated to arrive 10 minutes later. Placed order for my meal after my coffee order... that took 25 minutes. Service not to hot... had better cappuccino. Disappointed in the beet salad (beet's looked old) ... thought I would venture out and try the eggs benedict w/citrus holladaise sauce.. not a good idea. The sauce doesn't compliment the meal.... pancakes average. French toast and sausage were the highlight of the dishes but still average. When the server brought out the waffle I asked what was in the middle of it.. looked like butter to me.. she said it was whip cream... um no that wasn't whip cream or butter... not really sure what it was...hmm.. it was something I've never tasted before. Couldn't get out of the place fast enough and I was hungry when I arrived. I suggest they work on the quality of the food and the training of the wait staff and kitchen. :(

I have wanted to try crossroads diner for a while now since every time I pass by on the DART train, their parking lot is always full. I went for a Sunday breakfast. Upon entering we were promptly greeted and seated. The place is fairly spacious, the tables are not too close together. The place has a good energy to it without it being too frantic. This day I basically wanted a good old fashioned breakfast with eggs, sausage and pancakes. The eggs and sausage were cooked perfectly as ordered without any grease whatsoever. I am not sure how their sausage is made but it is different from other sausages that I have had. The pancakes were light and fluffy and hashbrowns were good also. The service was excellent, our waiter and busboys were always there at just the right time. A good experience all around.

I LOVE their food but that's only if you can get in! I went for lunch on a Friday at 11:30 am and 20 minute wait. I then went back on Saturday at 1:30pm thinking I could beat the lunch crowd. They told me they RAN OUT OF FOOD and SILVERWARE and to come back the next day, before 9am! As much as I love the food, I am tired of the waits and the slow, slow service. If you have 2 hours to kill, then I would recommend it, but only if you get there by 10am or they may run out of something.

We just came from breakfast at this new spot and were quite impressed. The sticky bun was all we dreamed it would be, and then some! Eggs were fluffy and fresh, as were the corned beef, pancakes and frittata. I had been for lunch last Wednesday and the ham and cheese sandwich was just delicious! Space is lovely and light. This should be a great location to serve Dallasites' love for a good breakfast!! Let's support a wonderful new spot like this one!!

Worth a return? Yes Worth a 30 minute drive? Yes Worth a flight? No Pancakes: 5 stars--America's "benchmark" buttermilk pancake Everything else: 4 stars Tip: If you're waiting for a table, you can get your pre-emptive cup of coffee at the register ($3.25). They won't charge you for the real refills once you sit down at your table. Review The fluffy pancakes make this a five star institution. The pancakes are what happens when a bunch of serious restaurateurs take on that familiar dish that seems like it should be so easy.. but requires a lot of technique. And I do believe that was real maple syrup? It was perfectly warm and executed with humble excellence. Crossroad Diner pancakes are my third favorite after Liliha Bakery in Honolulu and Du-Pars in Los Angeles. I thought the sticky bun's rise weren't developed enough in terms of consistency and flavor, and I heard my dining companion mumble her agreements, while she scarfed the whole thing down. Was it the caramel pecan sauce or the soft, fresh dough that caused her to reveal her true colors on our date? Like many places in Dallas, we found the coffee refills not so snappy and the seasoning tends toward the slightly salty side. And beyond those general Dallas remarks, if I had one warning for the Crossroad's diner: they seem to run out of certain dish elements, so be warned you may not get the exact topping or dish you were hoping for. On many yelp reviews, they note that pancake toppings are either seasonal or sold out. When we went, they didn't have blueberry pancakes, so we chose apple instead (I still prefer just plain or blueberry personally, but the apple was exactly what you hope it to be.). They also temporarily ran out of sticky buns during our meal. But if you can get past all the minor menu outages, you'll be quite happy.

I'm from KS and wish there was something similar! This place is fantastic. Ambiance is great - bright, cheerful with nice wood beams that adds character. I had a pecan cinnamon French toast. Very unique - almost like a cake, but perfect sweetness. Didn't even need to use syrup. The southwest eggs Benedict (poached eggs, pulled pork on a bed of potatoes with the most fantastic, light, airy pancakes) was also great. The fact they serve cappuccino and silverware wrapped in white napkin is awesome. If you're looking for greasy diner...don't come here. If you're looking for gourmet breakfast inspired by diners, this is the spot!

First time here, the wait was long. We were told 20 mins but ended up waiting 45. But the food was spectacular! I had the bacon and white cheddar frittata! My daughter ordered the French toast and I ate half of it it was so good! I will come back but maybe a little later in the day.

Service was wonderful from a young short woman, didn't catch her name though! Food was alright I got the eggs benedict & it was pretty good. My boyfriend had one of the frittatas & wasn't impressed. Overall it was slightly bland. I think we may have been better off with other choices though honestly. This is a frequent spot for an older, more conservative crowd & even though the staff was super sweet, we did get a lot of unwelcoming (if thats even a word) glances from other patrons. Nothing too major. Long story short: great staff, okay food, kinda rude patrons.

This was my first time visiting Crossroads. My friend and I drove by it all summer on the way to our internship and kept saying how much we wanted to try it. So glad we finally had the chance! The four of us split the cinnamon sticky bun. From all of the reviews I was expecting this to be out of this world delicious. It was good but not dynamite. The sides of the bun were dry but the caramel helped with the texture. Hopefully we just got an older sticky bun and it wad just a fluke. But, I probably won't order it again. I ordered the bacon and cheese frittata. It came with hashbrowns and toast. I choose sourdough. The frittata was delicious. But, the hashbrowns were the stand out on the plate. SO GOOD. I am not sure if they cooked them in bacon, but they had a savory component to them. Crispy on the top and perfect on the inside. I could eat those hashbrowns all day. Also, by checking in on yelp I unlocked a free blueberry short stack. You could tell that the blueberries were fresh. The pancakes were the perfect texture, too. The four of us dug into them. Our sever was super attentive and beyond sweet. It took one of my friends a second to make up her mind on what she wanted to order and he was very patient. I can't wait to bring my husband here.

This is a solid breakfast choice in mid-Dallas. I've eaten here a couple of times for work breakfast and it does the trick. Lots of space and they give an almost unbeatable amount of food. My only complaint was I've been seated next to some noisy groups when better tables were available.

  • Kevin P.

Come expecting a wait, although we were seated pretty quickly. This popular breakfast spot has all the old favorites. The hashbrowns were fried with bacon grease and crisp black pepper, and were cooked perfectly the way I like them. Thst means some folks might want to ask for "crispy." The pancakes were excellent, however the gravy left me wanting a little more. Overall, a really good breakfast, and I'm sure we'll be back again soon. Oh! Don't forget to check-in on Yelp for a free short stack of blueberry pancakes!

This was my first experience here. The atmosphere was nice. I decided to try the apple chicken frittata. I had never actually had a frittata. I didn't care much for it. It had chicken sausage, Brie, and sun dried tomatoes with basil pesto. The only good part of it was the sun dried tomato. Maybe I should have tried something else. I did like the sticky bun and the blue berry pancakes were ok. There were too many whole blue berries in them though. Overall, it was an ok experience. I probably just should have tried something else.

Why must Crossroads close? Ever? Why can't they be open 24 hours, 7 days a week? I love the kitschy decor and diner feel you get at Crossroads without wondering why everything is so sticky. It's a clean local restaurant that takes the cake for me in the diner world. I could eat the breakfast scramble every day. And the seasonal pancakes every hour. The menu is full of classic favorites but also surprising with sophisticated home cooking. Sundays and Saturdays are bumping at Crossroads but you can usually find a spot. In fact, I don't think we've ever had to wait. Overall, one of my favorite local spots and a continuing breakfast staple in my world.

Chanced on this place, parking lot looked full....must be good. Had the Chicken Salad Sandwich with the house chips. I think the chips are made on location, make me think of kettle fried chips. I like 'em! The chicken salad was good and fresh, but when at home I add curry. Mom and dad had the BLT, oh wow. That comes on what I would call some Texas Toast, the bread was at least an inch or more thick! Like to go back for breakfast.

This is a dallas gem, the food is excellent except we didn't like the grits, but the waitress said u either love them or hate and she was right we hated them but the rest of the food was great especially the egg migas! The wait staff is top of the line especially Joann and Brittany, the are some of the best with customer service! We will definitely be back!

Amazingly good food! I don't know how they do it! The prices are good so are the portions. My pancakes came out so hot I couldn't eat them! 10 minutes later still warm and we all know pancakes don't stay hot for long but these people don't play. They bring it to you fresh off the griddle! Friendly service, too! I wish I could eat here every day.

Three words - Cinnamon Sticky Bun - A magical experience is a must at least once in a life time. Crossroads Diner is a family friendly establishment that is only open Tuesday - Sunday from 7am - 2pm. Service is always friendly and pricing is appropriate. Expect somewhat of a wait on the weekends, but the huge portions are worth the wait.

Very meh. Went with my mother, brother, and his girlfriend. My mother and I ordered cobb salads, my brother ordered a fried chicken and brie sandwich, and his girlfriend ordered a quiche. One thing to note is that this place is somewhat pricey for being a diner, each entrée is $10-15. My brother's sandwich was good, his girlfriend's quiche was good but small. The problem was the salads, which came with romaine, bleu cheese, bacon, dressing, and avocado. My mom's salad didn't come with the cheese, mine didn't come with bacon, and both salads came with chopped tomatoes mixed in (which both of us fervently hate). Also, the avocado in the salads was hard. It took us like 10 minutes to find our waiter to let him know, and the store ended up charging us for the bacon replacement for my salad THAT WAS ON THE MENU! Probably a solid 2.5 stars, but I'll give them a 3 for not being too busy.

Go here for the sticky cinnamon bun alone! I am not much for sweets and usually don't eat sticky buns but this one was so delicious! They warm it up before they serve it. The service is decent and there is quite a long wait on the weekends but it is a good family place with large portions. We decided on the breakfast menu. I had the eggs florentine. The English muffin was a little too soggy for me but the hash browns were a good compliment and 2 pancakes were provided. My husband had the crossroads frittata which was great. I love anything with goat cheese so we were already sold. If you don't mind the wait I would recommend this place for a good breakfast

My family and I have ate breakfast many times at Cross Roads Diner. We have never been disappointed. The usual wait time is about 20-30 minutes. Service is always great and the food is always good! The pecan pancakes are my favorite.

Second time at Crossroads Diner was better than the first. I recommend the CHICKEN-APPLE SAUSAGE & BRIE CHEESE frittata, the EGGS BENEDICT WITH HASH BROWNS & HOLLANDAISE, and the CINNAMON STICKY BUN. I walked in on a Sunday morning around 9:30 with two people, and we were sat down immediately. The breakfast crowd is loud, but my food was so good I didn't care. The waiter was excellent and very attentive. Will definitely go back with my family.

An interesting breakfast / bistro that is very popular on the weekends. We came here on a Saturday and it was solidly packed and waited 20 minutes for a table. Most good brunch places in Dallas have a pretty good wait so the wait time didn't really feel out of the ordinary in any way. The menu has a strong focus on breakfast / brunch foods with a smattering of diner inspired dishes mixed in (like chicken fried steak). The frittatas looked interesting, but I ended up going with one of their daily specials, which was a smoked chicken enchilada topped with two eggs over easy (how I requested the eggs) and a side of pancakes. I also made use of the Yelp check-in offer and got a short stack of blueberry pancakes. Way too much food and I wasn't able to even touch the blueberry pancakes until I got home. They did a good job with the smoked chicken in the enchilada and got the flavor of the wood perfectly infused into it. The eggs were nicely done over easy with the yolk appropriately runny. That being said though, I can't say it was the most flavorful thing I've had (though kudos for how they did the chicken). If they had a plate of just the smoked chicken, I would order that. The pancakes were great and would be the main drawing point for me to come back here if I chose to do so. They were very fluffy and held up very well even after I ate the blueberry pancakes hours after the meal. They remained moist, fluffy, and the blueberries were very fresh / juicy. Everything being said, I can't give this 4 stars because it didn't wow me enough to really want to come back here and go through that wait. The pancakes are definitely the best part of the limited items that I've tried and it may be that I was off in my choices.

Such a great place!!! Always a great service, great food, and such an old fashion atmosphere that brings the epitome of breakfast-diner-cool. The tostada... Such a breakfast heaven! Though it's high in calories, it's so worth it! Delicious! I can't wait to come back soon!

I've gotta say... This place rocks. My boss comes here for lunch meetings sometimes and has brought back sandwiches for us before, but I finally got to try this place for breakfast. Allow me to set the scene: American Heart Association Walk 2014. All of my coworkers bailed on the walk, but my dear friend K and her work friend stepped up and volunteered to come walk with me. After riding the crammed train down there, shuffling for a mile, then actually walking the 3 mile AHA walk, then back on the train.... we were fairly tired and STARVING. I know what food options are near-ish the DART train stops a little better than the other two as I work on this side of town. We were going to go to Henk's, but they stopped serving breakfast at 11, and it was 10:52 and the train had just left the station in downtown. Nope. We're about to call it quits and just drive to some place from our cars when I remember Crossroads. Yeah, let's try it!! Get off the train at Walnut Hill and a quick jaunt across the small side street and we're there. It's Saturday at prime brunch time, so we expected a bit of a wait, but it wasn't too bad. 20 minutes after getting there, we're seated and greeted by a really nice older server. We all immediately liked her: she checked in often (but not TOO often), and was incredibly prompt. GET THE STICKY BUN DEAR GOD. Oh. Sorry. Guess I couldn't hold that in anymore. We'd walked by some tables with these magnificent caramelly, nutty, delicious bastards on them and decided we had to partake. K's coworker got her own and planned on getting a smaller breakfast. K and I wanted BIG breakfasts, so we decided to split a sticky bun. Next time, I'm getting one all for myself. Shit, maybe I'll get two or three all for myself. Oh man. Warm and caramelly and gooey and the pecans on top. It even made me break my "Don't take pictures of food you're eating" rule. K and coworker each got a "Hug in a mug"; coffee with liqueur and real whipped cream on top. K was enamored with the real whipped cream. I got a mimosa because I really wanted orange juice and the champagne makes me drink it slower. We all heartily approved of our choices. The entire breakfast menu looked amazing, and I fully intend on trying many items off of it in the future. I got blueberry pancakes with bacon, and added on a couple of scrambled eggs. K got the enchilada special (real smoked chicken enchiladas, topped with eggs, and a short stack of pancakes- she added blueberries to the `cakes for an extra 99 cents). K's coworker got the eggs Florentine (which came with hashbrowns and a short stack). We were all impressed with how delicious our food was, and how ample the serving size was. Maybe it was the sticky buns we had just devoured, but those plates of food seemed... big... Haha. I could only eat about 1 of my pancakes, but it was AWESOME. My scrambled eggs looked a tad runny (which isn't my fav), but I dug in anyway and they were delicious. Perfectly fluffy and wonderful. K and coworker also complemented their perfectly cooked eggs. Needless to say, after the breakfast extravaganza, we did not want to walk back to the train station; we wanted nap time instead. But we trucked on back. I did, however, promptly fall into a coma when I got home. K and I loved Crossroads so much, we double checked the menu to make sure our friend R (who eats a very limited variety of food items) would find acceptable things, because we DEFINITELY going back. I was kind of "eh" on their lunch after my boss brought me the BLT, but decided to hold off on a review. Oh man am I glad that I did. I'd still maybe (MAYBE) try more of their lunch items, but breakfast is so good.. Why deviate?

If you are looking for a laid back diner on Saturday or Sunday mornings, then this is the place. Get here early since it gets packed and enjoy Illy Coffee! Great service and don't forget to get some sticky buns! Yum yum! This place is great for families as well. Wish there were more places like this in Dallas.

This is a tough one. I love supporting the local economy. Also, this place is right across the street from my office. Plus, their food is fresh and uses local ingredients which is obvious when you take a bite. I just have two problems that seriously make me want to give them 2 stars. 1: They are pricey for breakfast given Cindi's is 3 minutes away and 1/2 the cost. 2: The older lady server is consistently HORRIBLE. She tells you that your food taste good and never asks how it taste. She rarely checks in on you to see if you even got the right meal or if you need anything and don't even think about trying to get a refill on your coffee... I've been more times then I would like to admit for breakfast. I want to love this place, but keep getting put with the same server lady and have yet to have a good experience with her...

This place reminds me of a huge dance hall. The food was great for breakfast but if you are a hungry man you will still leave here feeling hungry. The blueberry pancakes taste great. It's also a plus because I can drink mimosa with my brunch. The place is packed on sat expect 20 to 30 min wait. If your looking for more food half price I would choose Buzz brews my fav :) still ..

Tough to give five stars for a diner but this place is a worthy contender! I had chicken hash (wanted corned beef but this was likely a bit healthier!) and it did not disappoint. It was served with two eggs. I ordered over easy. Perfectly executed. It also includes a short stack of pancakes. They were delicious. Plenty of food. I left not too stuffed and satisfied. I look forward to returning with the family to try out more items on the menu. Service was friendly and efficient as well. Nice to have a top shelf diner choice by North Park Mall.

I went here on a Sunday morning for brunch and it was amazing!! The atmosphere is family friendly with a southern style. Definitely recommend the cinnamon sticky buns, they were to die for! They were so moist and rich with pecans. Not your normal cinnamon rolls. Also the apple chicken sausage frittata was wonderful as well!

We love crossroads! My family has been here several times and after work got cancelled due to bad weather, a couple of my co-workers and I decided to go to breakfast here! We got a sticky bun (which they are famous for), brioche french toast, sausage, a blueberry muffin, a lemon poppyseed muffin, and blueberry pancakes. Of course, the sticky bun never disappoints. However, what I was surprised by was my love for the muffins! Both had the most amazing texture that was light especially in comparison to most muffins, which are often very dense. And the flavor of the lemon poppyseed muffin was fantastic. We were ordering a lemon baked good and a lemon flavored pastry is what we got! A cool side note about Crossroads is that it is only open for breakfast and lunch because the owner wants to be with his family for dinner every night! If you are looking for good breakfast, look no farther than crossroads!

Oh my goodness. This place is mindblowing. I of course like other yelpers went for the Sticky Bun. People, get the sticky bun. It's bigger than my hand!!!! And only $5!!!! What a diverse menu for such an inexpensive price! Love it! You can get anything you want from eggs benedict to frittatas to the most amazing whole wheat pancakes I've ever had!!! My table ordered waffles (didn't try), the special country skillet with gravy (smoky & YUM!), whole wheat waffles (orgasmic), egg white frittata (you can customize how you like) + hashbrowns, and a burger (DELISH and HUGE). My one thing was that they could have made the hashbrowns more crispy. I would still go back and scarf them down regardless. Such a unique joint that's only open for breakfast and lunch. The servers were attentive and fast too! Definitely coming back for 2nds or 3rds next time I'm in town. No wonder they were on D Magazine's Top 100 Restaurant list. Get the pancakes.

Great bacon, fast service and ridiculously friendly plus they gave me jelly. I will be back just on the service alone. The mornings are very much a businessman's haven but it was still very warm and welcoming. I had the crossroads breakfast which I would recommend with the biscuits. They are dense but pair perfectly with the homemade jellys.

I always want to drive over to Crossroads for their fluffy, perfect buttermilk pancakes. I know everyone talks about the sticky buns but I'm not a fan of that baked good in general so can't say much about it other than it looks like you might keel over with sugar overdose. But the pancakes are perfection and all I've ever wanted in a pancake. The mimosas are good too but can have variable amounts of champagne: sometimes just right, other times not enough. The hash browns are what I wish were better the last time I went. They looked so good and was ready to eat all the potatoes on my plate but on the first forkful, I tasted bacon. Or if it wasn't bacon then it was definitely some meat that, as a vegetarian, I don't eat. Wished I'd checked with the waitress about this before ordering. Oh well. BTW there's usually a wait time of at least 15 min (sometimes 30 min) on the weekends but so it is with many places serving weekend brunch.

  • Paz M.

Best pancakes ever! They're so beautiful and fluffy that I almost just wanted to look at them all day rather than eat them. I eventually stopped staring and dove in and they were wonderful. It's easy to see why this place is so busy on the weekend. Considering how packed they were, I half-expected the service to suffer, but Crossroads impressed me there, too. Our server Jason was professional and friendly, taking time to tell us how Crossroads makes their own syrup and jelly and, after my partner and I enthused to him about the food, even making some recommendations for what try on our next visit. I'll be back.

I loved the atmosphere! Immediately upon walking in, there are huge whisks that act as light fixtures! A very neat diner indeed. Our server was kind when he came to our table, which was not very often. We don't like to be fussy, so we went without a couple things we would have otherwise desired. We ordered the sticky bun, which I heard they were known for. Obviously sticky buns are meant to be sweet, but this one almost gave me a toothache. It also had a texture more like bread than a bun. The coffee was lovely. It was a dark roast and didn't taste watered down at all. Chicken fried steak and eggs was blasé. It was a bit better after adding salt and pepper. The grits that it comes with are awful. I'm sorry. The tomato basil soup with the cutest little grilled cheese was delicious and I mostly stuck to that and let my man candy eat the entree. Not bad, but I don't think we will be back.

This place is amazing. Can't believe it's only 3.5 stars. I only eat here for breakfast and the food is alway cooked perfectly and served hot. The staff is very attentive and the restaurant is very clean. It isn't in the best location (off the Hwy North Dallas), but I believe it is worth the detour even if you are downtown.

We visited Crossroads Diner for a weekday lunch. The restaurant was fairly busy, but we didn't have to wait for a table more than 3 or 4 minutes. Our waitress was very friendly, and explained the specials well - she knew enough about them to answer in detail when we asked about one particular item. We each opted for one of their signature sandwiches, which come served with the tasty house made chips. One note about the service: although our waitress was attentive and efficient, other waitresses walking by offered refills on tea & coffee if they noticed we were running low. The waitstaff seemed supportive of one another but never intrusive. Crossroads is far enough from our home that it won't be a weekly place for us, but I can imagine it will be a place to visit whenever we are nearby.

If you live in Dallas you must be into the brunch craze... This place gets the thumbs up. The short stacks are outstanding, but honestly I haven't had a bad dish yet. The sticky bun is worth a try if you are a sweets fan and it will be a hit, if not don't order it. They only lost a star because of the wait but honestly it's worth the wait. They serve large portions so be prepared to eat a large amount or share with someone.

My experience here is similar to how I treat an acquaintance. You automatically have good thoughts, but only because you recognize them. On a deeper level. they are really not that great or close to you. The atmosphere is bright. The waitress I had (Cristal) was attentive, spunky, and made me feel at home. Food wise, it could have been better. Especially for 10+ entrees. The fritata I had was good. Not bad but certainly not something to rave about it. It seems like something I would make, if I didn't put much effort into cooking. I will say I was shocked that the hash browns are NOT GREASY. It seems everywhere I go, hash browns are swimming in grease. So I have to give thumbs up on that. Based on the hype, I ordered a sticky bun. Dont try to eat one of these by yourself. The bun itself was soft in some spots, and a hard in others. Not the greatest thing I had, but the sauce they used was the show stopper. I licked my plate for that pecan sauce they poured over the bun. I cant recommend this place, but I wouldn't stop someone if they wanted to take me and pay the bill (Im a total cheapskate and admit it).

One of my favorite places for brunch! I usually get the breakfast tostadas. The bacon is a thick cut cooked crispy just like I like it. Haven't tried any of the lunch salads, sandwiches, or diner classics...but I'm sure I'll be trying those in the future.

So good! Went in around 11 on a Saturday for breakfast and it was very appropriately busy. The wait wasn't outrageous and the tables were "turned" quickly so we were able to sit in about 10 minutes. I ordered the current special. Tortillas with black beans, chorizo and two eggs with pancakes. Get the chorizo anytime you come. It's made in house and is incredible. The pancakes are the perfect size and the coffee is nice and strong. Everyone I was with enjoyed their meals and we all left fat and happy. We'll definitely be back!

There are other places closer to me but I don't mind driving to Crossroads for breakfast. Typically I order the eggs benedict, it's favorite of mine. But today I ordered the sausage, caramelized onion, boursin cheese frittata. OMgosh! Yummy. This might be my new favorite. The coffee is strong so if you like it weak, pass, or order OJ. And you don't want to miss their homemade jams. The mixed berry is my favorite, but I like the strawberry just as good. Go, enjoy, but show up before 9:00 or after 12:00 otherwise plan on waiting at least 20-30 minutes for a table.

Very rare 5-star. Must have had a wonderful experience at least twice. Awesome place, great service & wonderful food! We both had a special on the chalkboard. Mine was Southern Skillet and hers was cinnamon pecan French toast. Both were awesome. Generous portions and prices that don't quite match the quality (more expensive than IHOP but no comparison!). Lindsey was our server and did great. Frequent coffee refills and delivered our food fresh & hot. The servers had a team approach & everyone around made sure we were well served. The owners greeted us and thanked us for coming in. Someday I have to try lunch, but the breakfast is just too good to skip! If in the SMU area, go by and try it. Weekdays are easier with less wait and don't plan on Sunday. They are closed. They also close mid-afternoon and don't serve dinner. I heard about this place from ads on AM 660 The Answer Radio on the Mark Davis show. We live 35 miles away in Mansfield. You can drive 7 from Dallas. You culinary wimp you. I don't like Indian! I don't want to try Middle Eastern! Grow up and experience!

Great service, Great food. I had the Apple chicken sausage frittata with brie cheese and basil pesto. Also my husband said the bacon was better than crackle barrel if that means anything to you. We will definitely be back again. But we will probably call ahead next time. Expect some wait time, about 2030 minutes . they have plenty of seating for waiting though inside and out

I've always wanted to eat here but never could because of my schedule. IT FINALLY HAPPENED and I regret nothing. Amazing food, I had the curry chicken sandwich which was great. Like others have said don't let the curry frighten you, it gives it a great add. If you check-in with Yelp you get a free stack of pancakes. I got the apple cinnamon ones and ate them the next days. Sooo good. i will be back for the sticky bun next time.

This place just crushed every other breakfast place I've been to. If Thor was a real person I'd bring him here. GET THE STICKY BUN. That thing is a true gift from Heaven. Other cinnamon rolls dream of ascending to this level of pastry. Perfect for sharing! I had the big BLT w/ chicken and holy cow that sandwich is delicious and massive. I had people from 3 other tables comment on it and ask what it was. Had to wait about 20 min for a table but definitely worth it. Also, excellent price for the quality of food you get here. I will definitely be back. Now I'm going to go fall asleep with a huge smile on my face.

After reading that it made several top 10 lists for breakfast in Dallas, my son, his girlfriend and I made a special trip to check out Crossroads. Sadly, it was a bit underwhelming and we probably won't make the trip again. We started with a couple of Bloody Mary's ($5) and were slightly disappointed when they came in glasses usually reserved for juice. They were packed with ice, and just for kicks, we sucked them down and let the ice melt while we ate. Truly, about half the glass was filled with water at the end. The food was okay. Not bad but not really spectacular either. We all had something different and we all felt the same way. Again, it wasn't bad but it wasn't really great either. The staff were friendly enough but the overall experience was disappointing when compared with our initial expectations. So I had to go back and add. As we were checking out, my sons girlfriend made the comment that the drinks we ordered seemed to be quite small. The owner came by and, after talking with us, insisted that we not pay for the two Bloody Mary's. While we weren't expecting it, I did think it was a very nice gesture.

Well, I this is not the first time I have been to Crossroads but it may be my last.... I walked in around 7:50 on weekday morning, stood at the reception station for over 5 minutes where 4 different servers acknowledged my presence but I was not seated until I CALLED the store on my phone to engage someone to come to the front, where there were now 4 other people waiting as well. Then I paid $14 for yogurt w/ granola, a biscuit, and drip coffee.... Insane.....

I love this place. I really enjoy what they offer and the biscuits are amazing. Being from the Carolinas their grits are like nothing we can get here. What I really DON'T like, however, is on those rare Sunday morning when we decide to get takeout instead of going to wait in line and dine in the restuarant. See, we have 2 small kids and the space to wait in is small, cramped and generally not very kid friendly for long waits which is normal on the weekend. And every, single time we have gotten take out it has been screwed up. One time our pancakes didn't make it home. Another time we didn't have any butter or syrup, the butter is awesome and the syrup is just amazing so both are very important. A different time our bacon was very much undercooked, we always request extra crispy (who likes chewy bacon?). And most recently my grits were added to the same container as my eggs and biscuits, the container did not have sections in it, so the grits ended up covering everything in the box. The food here is great. The service when you dine-in is great. Getting food to-go is not a good idea. I have to wonder why they haven't been able to improve this, especially on the weekend? Obviously the current staff don't have the time to provide the same level of service for to-go customers. Since that's the obvious case, maybe offer a discount to to-go customers? Or, better yet, have a dedicated to-go person or 2 to insure the accuracy of to-go orders. Please. Thank you.

Came here for brunch after church and it was about a 30 minute wait for our group of 8. There is no place to wait inside so luckily it was a nice day and people are just hanging out outside in or near the parking lot waiting to be seating (always a good sign). We ended up getting seated in the front room and the servers were okay. I guess it was really busy so that is expected that they weren't the most attentive. They were good about splitting the check for each couple and we paid up front, not at the table. Working backwards here, but for my meal, I had the hot ham and cheddar, which was pretty good, nothing special. I also had a side of sausage which was not that great. They are the more beige colored skinny links with casing, not the darker breakfast sausage I was expecting. One thing they killed it at though was the Cinnamon Sticky Bun. This alone lifts them to a 4 star rating, otherwise, it is a 3.

Crossroads Frittata is amazing!! Sticky bun was too much fun and enough for the whole table... enjoy their brunch mimosas. Service is always a little slow so just enjoy the environment.

I stopped in after completing some business in the area. I am so glad I did. I ordered the Applewood Bacon and White Cheddar Frittata, which is a bit of a departure for me personally. It was great! Light, fluffy, well seasoned, with plenty of bacon and cheese. The hash browns were crispy outside with a well cooked and seasoned interior and the toast came out hot enough to melt the butter I got to put on it myself. The service was fast and friendly, but not rushed. Linda was one of the best servers I have experienced in a while. If this restaurant was close to my house I would be eating here several times a week.

Store needs an update, especially the menu. food was alright, although it was pretty busy and everyone seemed to be happy, good atmosphere. Waitress was nice as well as the host. Food was okay. First time going. Don't think i'm going back.

Love the food, atmosphere, the staff! Very busy at lunch, so come a little early. The menu is mainly breakfast/bistro in nature, salads are very gourmet! In the past night shift workers have been given punch cards for bloody Mary's/mimosas & when you reached 8 or 10, you got a free one!

Wanted to eat here for a year but it usually has a full parking lot, I don't stand in line for breakfast. Wife and I went by on Wednesday and the parking lot was only half full so tried it. OK I will now wait in line for Breakfast. 6/15/2013 Previous review Best breakfast in Dallas? This a chef driven restaurant FOR BREAKFAST?... just like someone already said. Food excellent, service was very professional, not a bunch of kids but a true professional staff.

Back 1nce again - with the Laws (the In kind, not Ronnie or Lou). Mom - Frittata Dad - Skillet Missus and Me - Eggs Bennys Me - Clumsoid backhanded a glass of iced tea all over the table - OUT OF NOWHERE two folks came up with towels to clean up - and did it without embarrassing me! The 'laws loved everything - and since they live in town (Grapevine) they will be back - and this is now our official goto when in town. - my only MEH - thick pancakes... they are good just thick for me....

This place is pretty great. Everything looked amazing, but I had the ham and cheese sandwich on a croissant. Excellent. One of the best sandwiches I've had anywhere. It came with homemade chips that were also great. My only complaint is that there was a pretty long line to check out...but that probably just speaks to how good this place is.

They are open earlier than most places o Sunday, that is good. But $2.99 for a cup of coffee? The coffee is good (even very good at times), but that does seem high for a diner. One big bonus: real, warmed-up Maple Syrup for pancakes. Can't think of where else I would go to get that in this town. Most noticeable to me is the lack of presentation in the food. I ordered their eggs benedict. Got a rectangular block of hashbrowns, a chipped, worn plate, and blobs of stiff hollandaise sauce atop each egg with not so much as a sprig of parsley to dress the plate. Is hollandaise sauce supposed to hold like a 1960s bouffant hairdo?

I don't know, ya'll. I LOVE love love breakfast food, but Crossroads has been a let down for me. It is pricey, it is packed and their servers are often overwhelmed, and although the pancakes and sticky bun are huge, the other dishes are not. So, while the food has been decent, I have been a bit disappointed by my Crossroads Diner visits.

My friend and I randomly found this little gem! It was delicious. We started with sticky buns which were amazing. Then I got the quiche and she got a regular waffle. The quiche was the best I've ever had.. It was creamy and had great flavors. I will definitely be coming back here!!

I'm here today for the delicious granola! It's packaged conveniently by the check out stand waiting to be taken home and devoured. I like it with Fage Greek yogurt. The other food on the menu is good too. I may be back for brunch on Sunday.

Loved my frittata but disappointed to discover that the hash browns include bacon and bacon grease in the preparation. I think if you order a meatless meal you should be warned there is bacon in the side dish.

Crossroads is a great place for brunch or a filling sandwich. The homemade crips are tasty, and if you're doing breakfast or brunch you can't go wrong with the pancakes or sticky bun. Get there early or be prepared for a wait.

Crossroads Diner scored a spot in D Magazine's "Top 100" for Best Pancakes, and also received a nod from Texas Monthly for "Best Breakfast". I'm not typically a breakfast person, but my wife wanted to try it out as part of her birthday festivities. We put our name on the wait list, which was projected at 20-25 minutes. This gave me plenty of time to surveil the place. It has kind of an upscale diner atmosphere, with kitchen-themed light fixtures and chandeliers. The 20-foot ceilings also gave this place a very open feel. From checking in on Yelp, I had a coupon for a free blueberry short stack, which sounded delicious. Unfortunately, the use of phone-based restaurant coupons embarrasses my wife for some bizarre reason. I relented, seeing as how it was her birthday and all. I decided on a frittata, but narrowing it down to a specific kind was harder than I'd thought. I was torn between the Crossroads Frittata (roasted red peppers, goat cheese, and chorizo) and the Country Sausage, Caramelized Onion, and Boursin Cheese Frittata (self-explanatory). In the end, the chorizo-filled namesake frittata won out. It comes with hash browns and toast, and I added a side of bacon for good measure. The hash browns were very homey, with a crisp top layer. The potatoes themselves were soft and slightly creamy, and the black pepper gave them just the right amount of spice. My bacon was, of course, delicious. It was thick cut, though I've encountered thicker. It wasn't too fatty or too lean, but just right. It's hard to go wrong with bacon. My frittata had a good kick from the chorizo, which paired nicely with the creamy goat cheese. The red peppers were good, though not very roasted. Three eggs was a little more than I cared to eat, but they were cooked well at least. All in all, it was a great combination of ingredients. The wait at Crossroads Diner is worth it for the sake of a pretty tasty breakfast.

Everything you order is good! Can't go wrong here! Only downside is there is always a wait and not much seating inside in the waiting area. Order a sticky bun as early as you can before they sell out! Also if you order a cappuccino expect it to be small.

Pork Guisada. Eggs Florentine. Winners, winners, chicken dinners. A healthy portion of pork shoulder served atop creamy grits delivers a mellow smokiness with a spicy heat that lingers throughout the meal. Mix in the avocado cream and the two eggs and you will not want this dish to end. I eat like I am on fire usually (bad habit #17) and used every ounce of self-control to stretch this breakfast to 30 minutes. The Eggs Florentine were only experienced recently, as it is difficult to make it to the lower half of the menu. Getting past the frittata section without ordering one is a challenge for some of us.Are we glad we did this time! Perfectly poached eggs atop a crispy, thin english muffin. Check. Delicious ham lies delicately in between. Check. Spinach cream sauce bringing it all together to create a combination so divine that this reviewer just mailed a "Dear John" letter to the grandkids of Oscar Tschirky. #obscurefoodiereference Finally, have you ever had a pancake that you remembered? Always the forgotten side item, along with the wheat toasts and hash browns of the world, right? Not these. Pecan or the in-season blueberry are my personal faves. Not a crumb left and I avoid carbs more than my mother-in-law! Thank you again, Chef Tom and team. And, a special thanks to Naomi for starting our Saturday with a smile!

Jamie and I dined here this morning. Our observations: 1. Best eggs benedict ever. period. Perfectly prepared in every way, lovely :P 2. Tasty fluffy pancakes, better with blueberries, awesome with warm maple syrup 3. Frittata (blue cheese and smoked ham), was flavorful, but too dense and dry as served. Needed a smothering of (a nicely made) salsa verde to rehydrate to a point of pleasant consumption 4. Service: bad, slow. Server was pleasant and did her best, but waitstaff was half of what it should have been on a brisk Saturday morning 5. Ambiance: big open room, nicely decorated with lots of natural light. Awesome whisk theme chandelier. Lots of hard surfaces = plenty of noise. We shall return to this diner with a mindful chef and lots of nice amenities and fresh food.

Actually found this restaurant on yelp, and it had great reviews so I decided to try it out, and I am glad I did. We went for brunch on Sunday morning. The wait was only about five minutes and the restaurant was packed. I ordered the breakfast skillet with salsa verda which came with three scrambled egss, bacon, potato, onions and cheese. The torillas were hot, fresh and very delicious. The portions were huge, I was only able to finish half. For only ten bucks, it was a great deal. I highly recommend coming here for brunch.

We love this place! Its so hard to find a good brunch/breakfast place in the DFW area. Great atmosphere and service, great mimosas, and amazing Blueberry Pancakes. My husband also is finally satisfied with his hash browns, after a year of searching. Beware though, it can be a long wait sometimes.

Meh...Crossroads Diner is so-so. Not awful, not the greatest, but certainly not somewhere that warrants a minimum 45 minute wait time for breakfast/ brunch. Every time I pass this place, there are people out the door - I don't get it. And I'm not usually a curmudgeon about a wait if there is a good payoff. I've been here twice for bunch, and have been disappointed both times. The latest time, I was excited to try one of their specials, a slow roasted pork shank with eggs any style. Sounds amazing, right? Unfortunately, gelatinous yellow cheese completely overpowers the dish. Blech! The result is a greasy slop with a funky cheese wiz-esque flavor. The side of pancakes was a high point - fluffy and light. In my experience, service is pretty much nonexistent here. Good luck if you need something because you'll probably only see your server 3 times for obligatory drink order, food order, bill drop off stops. If you're looking for breakfast or brunch, you can do better!

Amazing breakfast menu! This favorite of mine quickly became a Dallas wide favorite and made the "Best of Big D." The eggs Florentine are my favorite. The sticky buns are also fantastic. Most meals come with pancakes (when I go with my sister, she gives them to the kiddos to help keep to keep the costs down). Only complaint is that the drinks are a little expensive. Tom, the chef and owner, doesnt' work on Wednesdays and there is a noticeable difference in the quality of the food fyi.

Expected more based on reviews. Photos look great but our meal looked nothing like them. Was not crowded probably due to the Ebola scare since Presbyterian Hospital is across the street. We were very disappointed with the food. Ordered the famous sticky bun". Bleh. Huge, looked great but it was stale, dry, hard to cut and if that was not enough, it was way too sweet. No one in our party liked it. We suspect they knew it was stale and loaded it with the sauce to compensate. Eggs Benedict-yuk. eggs were hard, english muffin hard and stale, the sauce was just gelatinous and gross. There is no way that sauce was from scratch. Could not eat it. Blueberry waffle-looked good, tasted just barely okay. Definitely did not melt in our mouth. Bacon was rubbery. House made corned beef hash and eggs. I had high hopes for this dish. Hash was hard and dry, not much flavor. Eggs were fine. The pancakes that came with it were cold and hard. Biscuits. Good grief. It is not a biscuit. It's a HUGE dinner roll. Actually, it tasted pretty good and was moist. However, if you order this and expect a traditional biscuit, you will be disappointed. Considering the reviews and the high prices here, I do not recommend it. PRO? Service was fine.

A great place for an after church family brunch or for friends to have a long meal to catch up! We started with the sticky bun and coffee. They're as good as they look in the picture- go ahead and order one. Recommendations: corned beef hash, grits (creamy parmesan), eggs over brioche toast with sausage gravy Don't forget to check in on Yelp! We got a surprise free short stack of blueberry pancakes when I checked in!

If you are hungry, you will be disappointed. First, you must order the cinnamon roll as an "appetizer." It is a meal by itself. We waited about 25-30 minutes, which is fine because we could do be outside to wait and they texted us when the table was ready. Their pancakes are fluffy. They provide two pancakes that come with an entree, which is more than enough. I ordered a breakfast special that featured slow roasted pork shank. Hmmm. It had caramelized onions infused with the hash. My only critic was that it had too much cheese for me. It was not necessary because it took my focus away from the pork that slid right off the bone. House coffee is so so. They offer freshly-squeezed orange juice. But if you don't care for that, they also have mimosas. For thanksgiving they are have preorders for pumpkin or pecan pies. You have to order before 11/24 and pick up on Wednesday 11/27 from 1-3. May be a bit inconvenient, but I'm sure you won't regret it.

Very disappointed in Crossroads Diner. I'd heard great things about the food and service but it did not live up to expectations. I had the Crossroads Burger with homemade chips and a glass of tea. The burger was tasty but not good enough to justify the $11 price tag. The homemade chips were rather flavorless. The biggest problem however was not the food but the service. After my food was delivered I never saw my waiter again. I didn't get a single refill of my beverage and had to wait about 15 minutes after finishing my meal to flag down the waiter for my check. The diner was busy but part of good service is keeping up when the lunch rush hits.

The sticky bun is really, really good and big enough to share with several people. If you try to eat it yourself, you'll have to check in at Presby across the street and they're having a few (ahem!) problems right now. My overall comment about food is that it is good, but they futz around too much with recipes and end up making stuff less-than-good. I haven't been back, and have no plans to go back since a friend and I were waited on by a guy who started out nice, but then began more and more to insinuate himself in our private conversation. When he started talking about the size of his 'manliness', apropos of NOTHING we were talking about, I lost my appetite and my desire to come back. I could have easily had him fired by speaking to the management, but he seemed like such a loser that I'm sure he'll 'pull' the same crap with some other less-than-charitable female customers and get fired sooner or later. His name was Joe-something. Short. I won't mention his race. That wouldn't be PC.

Hands down the best quiche I've had in my life. I admit to being disappointed when the plate was put in front of me -- just looked like a regular ole slice of quiche. But... one bite later... ohmygosh. It's custardy and rich and absolutely fabulous. (I've been trying to replicate that filling at home every since, without luck.) My husband had the fried chicken and mashed potatoes with vegetables -- also fabulous. Really looking forward to getting back here again soon. Service was fast and friendly, too. Our waitress pretty much knew that menu inside and out and was a great help.

The food was delicious and there was a lot of it. There were a lot of people waiting to get in but the wait was not long at all on a late Sunday morning. I normally dislike grits but whatever they do to them makes them wonderful. The sticky buns are huge and sweet and delicious, the hashbrowns cooked perfectly. Chorizo is spicy and yummy, biscuits are gigantic, everything was great.

  • Ariel M.

The food is OK. I guess I'm just not a fan of the traditional pancakes, waffles and eggs. There is nothing very special or flavorful at the is place. I'm usually not a fan of sweets for breakfast, so i got a fritatta, it was bland, I requested a side of salsa and it tasted like mild picante sauce. The wait here is usually long and there are many other places in Dallas that do brunch better.

I really love this place for breakfast. It's in a very nice building with nice decorations, not your normal greasy spoon looking breakfast place. Wait staff is very attentive and friendly. The food is all top notch, I've eaten here about four times and every time I've been very impressed. Today I had a Frittata with brie cheese, apple-sausage & sun dried tomatoes and pesto sauce (I think it's new on their menu). The frittata was excellent and it came with hash browns that were very stand out IMO! They were very thick, nice and toasty on the outside and peppery spicy. Again, much better than the average place. The only down side is that they are a little on the pricey side for a breakfast place, but I enjoy their food and will be back!

Where the HELL has this place been? We loved it! When we showed up, we were worried, because the parking lot was packed, but they appear to run this place like a well-oiled machine and we were seated quickly. It's an open bright, clean space. The seating is close, like you see in many breakfast places. We had: - One of their daily specials - smoked chicken enchiladas with poblano cream sauce and eggs on top...with blueberry pancakes*! - Crossroads frittata - roasted red pepper, chorizo( not greasy), and goat cheese; hash browns, rye toast * - I asked for blueberry, that is not the default. Both were fantastic. I would highly recommend them...but we saw a lot of great-sounding stuff on the menu, so we are going to have to get over it and try some other things. The enchiladas had a wonderful smokey flavor. Quote, "it reminds me of a campfire" (in a good way). The frittata was great, but when you toss goat cheese on something, it's hard for me not to like it. That said, roasted red peppers and goat cheese are always a great combination. The service was great and you could see folks with headsets coordinating empty tables for maximum efficiency. Good news if you don't like standing around waiting for a table. It is right next to the Walnut Hill train station (Red and Orange lines), which is a plus. The WiFi was nice and fast. This will absolutely go on the rotation. Give it a shot.

What a great old-fashioned diner! I recently went to a rehearsal dinner at Crossroads Diner, and it was a wonderful experience. The food was nothing gourmet, but it was delicious diner fare: biscuits, eggs, hash browns, etc. And the pecan sticky buns were incredible!! A nice, laid back atmosphere with good service.

Food/Service both A-OK. Nothing especially outstanding. We ordered applewood sausage frittata, apple cinnamon pancakes, buttermilk pancakes, two eggs over medium and bacon. The cheese on top of the frittata was an interesting flavor. The bacon was divine. Nice and crisp. The pancakes are what really shine at this place. I thought it was strange that they didn't peel the skin off of the apples but they were, in fact, real apples so that was nice. IDK why I expected some sort of apple flavoring in the batter but there were huge chunks of apples in the pancakes. Nice :-) The buttermilk pancakes were really, really good and if you are looking for a place to try, it's worth it. And it doesn't hurt that they give you a free stack if you check in.

This is a quite a nice and charming place. Love the atmosphere here. Food is great and delicious. Had a buttermilk pancakes and a coffee as a partner. Yes, it's a simple breakfast meal but I like it! The fluffyness of the pancake was nice and the taste is good. Coffee is divine here. It was quite a refreshing day indeed.

Definitely elevated diner cuisine, but still a diner atmosphere and rather rushed service. However, the sticky bun, quiche, and the grits warrant fan status in my book. The biscuits in the biscuits and gravy were more like rolls. Delicious, don't get me wrong, but if you're expecting the crumbly texture of a true biscuit it might be a little order shock. They had a few extremely enticing off-menu specials that day, like shrimp and grits, but I couldn't bring myself to order anything other than my breakfast favorite. The grits were savory and smokey, with much more flavor than a standard side of grits, and oh boy... that sticky bun. I'm glad we shared it between five of us, because there's no way I have the self control to not eat the entire thing if it was in front of me. I also appreciate that they have more than just regular ol' coffee on the menu. You can get a cappuccino or a latte too. We only had to wait a few minutes while they got a table ready for us, but the restaurant was pretty packed on a Sunday. I would normally expect a wait.

In town visiting family and we stopped here for breakfast. Great service. We were told there would be a 10-15 minute wait and were called in 10 minutes. Our server was good too, attentive and always kept our drinks refilled. We started with the cinnamon sticky bun. Delicious! But more food than 2 people could eat. It was great as a left over later in the day. Kudos on the Brioche French Toast! Big, toasty, warm and delicious! Again, more food than I could eat in a sitting and I hated 1/2 of it going to waste. My husband had the applewood bacon, white cheddar frittata. It was the best I've had. I tasted it and wanted more, but was stuffed. We'll definitely visit again the next time we are in town.

We tried this place after checking out the reviews here on Yelp. When we got there it was jam packed. We waited 15 minutes which we didn't mind at all. I don't know it is that Crossroads puts in their sticky buns, but they've got that recipe on lock down. My friends and I decided to split one five ways, and in the moment, I wanted to play it hungry hungry hippo-style and grab their pieces, but in retrospect, I just wouldn't have had the room for it. It's cinnamon sugar-y goodness sprinkled with sizeable walnut chunks. Don't even question it--just do it. If you decide that your sweet tooth still hasn't been satisfied, please, PLEASE get the brioche French toast. I didn't even put their heated maple syrup on it and I was blown away. Lightly crispy on the outside, sooooo fluffy on the inside. I chose to eat mine with the chorizo, which was excellent. I forget that being back in Texas means that the Tex-Mex is actually decent again. The reason this place gets five stars is for the service! Our waitress was SO NICE and accommodating. One of my friends is Muslim and wanted the eggs Benedict, so she asked if she could replace the ham (excuse me, Canadian bacon) with anything non-porcine. Our waitress was talking through the options with my friend, and eventually they came to the conclusion there wasn't really anything. Five minutes later, our waitress comes running back saying that they had turkey sausage and could use that as a substitute. She didn't grumble when we asked to split the check five ways, and even split the sticky bun's cost for us, too!

I was down for the weekend in Dallas on business and pleasure. On Saturday I had breakfast with my family at an old favorite, The Original Pancake House. It's always good, but we wanted to mix it up, so Sunday we decided to try another spot and settled on Crossroads Diner. I had tried to find someplace that would cater to my gluten free needs, but still have a lot of options for others in my party. We arrived before 9:00 am and we're promptly seated. Our waiter came by our table shortly after we were seated and took our drink orders. After he returned I asked about gluten free options as the menu only showed a gluten free bun. He confirm, that except for the gluten free bun, and other things which naturally gluten free, they had no gluten free, or even gluten friendly dishes. Undaunted with the gluten options I ordered what I knew would be safe, eggs, bacon and coffee. One of the other members in my family ordered grits and eggs. His was by far the most disappointing experience of our group. My breakfast was average and unremarkable, but when his grits came out they were runny and brown with cheese on them. Upon tasting them he found they were heavily mixed with garlic, salt, and other spices. This may not be a totally objectionable way to prepare grits for a brunch or lunch, but when you only want grits as a side to your eggs.... Well let's just say it's a taste experience for a more limited group, of which my brother was not among. My brother complained to the waiter, would told the manager. She came by and explained that the grits were 'Chef Tom's' "rendition of breakfast grits". Sadly there were no other options so my brother, upset, asked for the check and sent the grits back, and left his eggs untouched. I was a little surprised when a minute later Chef Tom came by our table. He said "Sorry you didn't like my grits", tossed the bill (including the grits) on the table, and then as he turned to leave said... "Don't ever talk to my wife that way again". I didn't hate Crossroads Diner. I think the breakfast I had was every bit as good as the Waffle House or any number of fast food places. The thing they have over Crossroads Diner is... Cheaper food, and no Chefs to risk angering with comments about their food.

I was really hoping this breakfast would be great just based on the reviews...well it wasn't. I got my breakfast to go(because I had just gotten off work) and was wanting a really unhealthy breakfast...so I call here, swing by after work...got the country fried steak and a sticky bun...well I should've eaten my cereal. The grits were cold, the eggs were super hard and the country fried steak was terrible. Thank God for ketchup! The inside of the sticky bun is really good but the outside is really hard. I didn't try the pancakes just because I am so disappointed. They charged me extra for the 'eco friendly' to go boxes....REALLY!?!? The food was bad and I got charged extra for a to go...so not a happy person :(

Saturdays plan for a little wait (10-20). Good food, alright. Stopped in because of the radio ads. I think they should add "Gourmet" before "Diner" in their name. If you're looking for a quaint, mom's cooking place, this won't fit the bill. If you're looking for skilled cooking and preparation with impeccable service, Crossroads Diner might be what you're looking for.

I don't get to this part of town as often as I used to. But when I"m near Presbyterian Hospital Dallas I always make time to drop by Crossroads Diner for a superb lunch. Even if I'm in the mood for a breakfast dish it's always available. The menu is chocked full of some of my favorites like scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes. There's always a cheeseburger to fall back on (and it's excellent!!!!!). The homemade potato chips are served with most every sandwich or burger and they are to die for! Today I had the crispy chicken sandwich. Delicious! This video says it all. firstclassdallas.com/fcd…

I've had some 5-star experiences here and some average ones, but I would gladly go back for more so hopefully 4 stars is a fair way to settle the score. This place is popular! Expect a wait for Sunday brunch, but nothing too crazy, and Saturday is even better. The clientele is a wide range of people and ages- this definitely might cater to the neighborhood crowd. Speaking of which, Crossroads is neither hard to find not hard to get to, but it's not really near anything else of interest, so you might have to make a special trip out to see it. At times the service has been 5-stars- personality, humor, and personal care given to recommendations and getting the order right. At other times it's fall flat- with no problems, but it changes the experience. The food. I do love breakfast food! One of the things touted on the menu is the sticky bun. This is definitely meant for sharing. Maybe have it once...but for me it was not something I need to get all the time. The sticky bun made me realize that I prefer cinnamon rolls to sticky buns. The sticky bun had a wonderful pastry dough, a sticky glaze and some nuts. It was good for what it was, but not really my thing. And I'd rather save my calories for other things, like... the apple pancakes. The apple pancakes are huge and have tasty pieces of fresh apples loaded throughout. I've also had a more basic eggs, toast, and bacon meal and left completely happy. The frittatas seem like a success with guests I've brought here in the past, but I have yet to try one for myself. Crossroads has a modest coffee selection and a few drinks to imbibe on. The cappuccinos I've had here have been consistently frothy. I would not say it's the best I've EVER had, but it meets all the requirements of a cappuccino, and I get them each time. Read: these are not gas station cappuccinos- liquid with a few bubbles on top! Overall a nice neighborhood spot. Good place to take the parents or to have a hearty meal, less of a place to impress trendy friends.

Amazing! Food is awesome and service was just the same! Don't understand all the rants and raves about the service? It's breakfast, and 75% of the servers are age 50+, give em a break! They are sweet and attentive, just who I'd imagine waiting on me at breakfast time. The pancakes steal the scene, but my biscuits n gravy and corn beef n hash was great also! Check it out for yourself!

Wowee. Come here just for the lemon poppyseed muffin. Egg white artichoke frittata was outstanding and the French toast looked ridiculous. Yum times a billion.

I always get sad when I travel and my dining experiences aren't amazing. My Dallas trip was pretty lackluster in the culinary department, but Crossroads was middling, which made it one of my better eating experiences while gone. I had the breakfast tostada special, which was beans, Texas-made chorizo, eggs any style, green chili, pico di gallo, and black beans over two tostadas. I was a good way to have a protein-packed breakfast before my departure. The chorizo was the standout for sure--It had tons of flavor and complimented the rest of the meal perfectly. Their Yelp check-in is for a free short stack of blueberry pancakes--which they don't have right now. So I got pecan instead. They were really good and almost tasted like donut batter with maple syrup on top. Can't complain a out that except they were so rich. I let my aunt finish them. The real problems came with the service. Our sticky bun (way too rich, even for me, not my recommendation) was completely forgotten about and ended up arriving the same time as our breakfast. Several other things were forgotten about, too--sides of grits, coffee/water/tea refills, and then other requests as well--ketchup and extra butter. I was really turned off by the expo who passed food across people on the table to their hands vs right in front of them on the table. Her body language let us know she was irritated by all our requests, but they were in fact things that had already been requested. I'm not sure I would go back. It was good, but it seemed like pulling teeth to get anything.

These guys do it better! Great breakfast, coffee and service. Costs a little more than typical breakfast places but well worth it. Best pancakes I can ever remember having. Fresh everything. Service was efficient but not overly friendly I think, on account if I had two pain in the rear kids w me. 30% tip probably smoothed that over. Excellent breakfast. Needed a nap after.

I would say this is probably my favorite brunch place in Dallas. The quality of food, in addition to the friendly wait staff and quaint environment makes a good meal. I personally enjoy the hash browns when I go there, and although I'm generally not a fan of pancakes, they do have very amazingly fluffy pancakes. The biggest down side to this place is probably the inefficient seating arrangement. Customers generally wait about 20 to 40 mins, and the last time I checked, I believe they only had 2 or 3 tables that were made to accommodate 2 people. This leads to many tables that cater to 4 people, having only 2 people instead. Apart from that, great food, decent prices, great environment, and friendly wait staff.

The best breakfast in Dallas I believe, just inching out Norma's. Service, food and pricing are great. Large portions. Eggs Benedict is amazing.

If your looking for the BEST breakfast in all of DALLAS COUNTY then dont go any further. If you like to support resturants that support local growers and farmers then Crossroads is for you. Most of there food is either scratch made in house or at a local bakery that makes everything from scratch. I have never been to a restaurant where i could actually order anything on the menu and have an amazing eating experience. I love pancakes and they have some amazing fresh blueberry pancakes served with real butter and scratch made syrup. I have never been one for ordering appetizers but when they mentioned that i should try there sticky bun as one i said ok. Well i tell you what i was impressed. Not just impressed but mine blown. The last time i was there i met the owner and she was amazing sweet bubbly even though the place was slammed. I also loved the fact that she recognixzed me from the last time i was in there and noted that she saw i was having fun this time with her staff. Dont go there in a time crunch, there is usally a line out the door, they dont take reservations from what i can remember but its all worth the wait. Im going there in the morning (06-25-13) lol

I went to Crossroads for my first visit on a Sunday and I was impressed! Although I had to wait on a table for about 15 minutes, the entire experience was great! The food was excellent and the staff was happy and attentive. This is a great location with plenty of parking and they keep your water glass full! The only negative thing I can think of is the fact that almost everything on the breakfast menu comes with a side of pancakes. How about a side of fruit or cereal? I saw the waiter carry away two orders of pancakes that were not eaten. How wasteful.

Go to Crossroads Diner for the food in spite of the service! My friends and I love this place for brunch. It's good comfort food that is consistently delicious. The prices are excellent and the atmosphere is pleasant, too. The only downside is that the staff seem to be easily overwhelmed. Crossroads is packed (and I mean PACKED) at brunch time on the weekends and on multiple trips we've had servers who couldn't keep up with the traffic. Our coffee cups have been empty for way too long, our missing side of bacon took about 10 minutes to appear, and we've watched tables sat well after we were wind up with their food before ours even came close to arriving. If you're there with friends (or a good book) and don't mind waiting for a table then waiting quite a while between drinks, ordering, and eating, then Crossroads is great. And again, the food is excellent. Just don't plan on eating here if you're pressed for time or feeling too hangry to exercise patience!

I've been here several times and have throughly enjoyed it. I think my favorite thing (besides the sticky buns) would be the chicken salad sandwich. It has curry in it but don't let that scare you off. The curry is not overwhelming. It just adds a little bit of kick. Yum! Honestly I have never had anything that wasn't delicious. Service and staff are wonderful. We've had pleasurable conversations with our servers, the manager and the owner. Great place! One of my faves.

I am a breakfast lover! I travel all over in search of a good breakfast. My criteria is good food, ample menu choices, fair prices, good service, and a clean environment (not necessarily fancy). Crossroads Diner hits them all with a POW! The place is big so the wait was minimal. Everyone from the host/hostess to the cashiers were friendly and attentive. The wait staff was knowledgable and helpful and the food was there in a jiffy. That's when the real fun began. Yum! That's all I can say! Eggs cooked to perfection, bacon that melted in your mouth, hashed browns that were crisp outside and tender inside, and delicious fluffy pancakes that came with whipped butter and warm maple syrup. I found myself quietly moaning as I dove in. Much to my dismay I was unable to win the battle due to the portion size but it was fun trying. After I threw in the towel I promised myself to come back soon. There were many selections being delivered around me that looked every bit as delectable as mine. Crossroads Diner thank you for a pleasant dining experience. Oh...one more thing...the free short stack of blueberry pancakes being offered on the Yelp site is not valid. Apparently they have been trying to remove that coupon for a while to no avail. That's okay, pancakes come with almost everything!

I really like Crossroads! I had the BLT that was totally amazing as it came on this fantastic Brioche bread...ummm...yum. One thing that seems to be the trend at all breakfast/brunch places is that there was a 30 minute wait on a Saturday at 10:30. I get that, and I was so impressed that they had kids books for the little ones to pass the time. The coffee isn't really very good, but the food makes up for it. I've been twice now and liked both items that I've ordered. I like to support the neighborhood so I will go back for sure!

Crossroad's Diner was pretty good - I'd say above average diner food. Had coffee, and the 2 eggs with grits, bacon and rye toast (and sampled the pancakes). Service was pleasant with no complaints or issues. Attempted to use the Yelp check-in offer for a free short stack of blueberry pancakes, but apparently they have been out since December (seasonal blueberry issues in TX I suppose?). So I said a regular short stack would be fine to substitute - it never came but ultimately the server knocked off my coffee as a substitute. Make sure you plan ahead for a wait on the weekend before noon - nice touch is that they do check-ins via an iPad and allow you to be notified of your table by text message in case you want to sit outside on the benches.

You have got to try the tostadas with black beans, chorizo, eggs, pico and salsa!!! It is a great breakfast. I also had a short stack of pancakes that were extremely good!!! It's a must try for breakfast!!!!

Great place to eat! I saw they offer a free short stack of blueberry pancakes if you check in on Yelp! I had to add a side of crispy bacon of course. It was near lunch though so I also got the ham and cheese croissant which was decadent! Being in the service industry, I've worked with Illy coffee before and it's the best. I had to drink a few cups of it, black of course. Ask for Laura, great service and knowledge!

This place gets packed during weekday lunch! Using diner to describe this airy and updated restaurant is a misnomer. Think Breadwinners and Crossroads is a peer. I didn't find the menu to be particularly innovative. It carries typical breakfast, lunch, and brunch fare. You have eggs and bacon any which way, with a yelp check in you get free blueberry pancakes. For lunch, there are several standard salad and sandwich options. If you want a heavy lunch, you can also get big meaty dishes like a pork shank. The BLT that I had was fine, and it was on buttery texas toast and came with a side of very firm kettle chips. For the price, it was a decent meal and is a safe lunch option.

Litterly "MEH"! Have had much better everything with less of a wait. Friendlier service and much tastier food. The plating of food made things just as appatizing as they were, bland & meh! I went for breakfast, will not be back for lunch.

I have been listening to the head chef of Crossroads Diner extolling the foods awaiting those who hunger for a good old fashioned meal. They are good sounding radio commercials of great food. I took my teen-age son this morning to taste for myself. The space was much larger than expected. Plenty of tables with a multitude of hard working waitresses running around. Pretty clean for such a busy restaurant. We were expecting a delicious breakfast at a fairly reasonable price. Wrong on both counts. My son ordered a cinnamon bun with two eggs over easy with one piece of toast. His drink was a chocolate milk and one refill. I had the chicken fried steak with one coffee. Total, with tip, was 42.00. My son's eggs were clumsily under-cooked. The whites were leaking all over plate. The large cinnamon bun, thought covered with a sweet glaze, had an exterior as hard as a plate. I guessed it had been reheated right before serving. It was large enough he was able to dig out the center. One should never need a serrated knife to eat a cinnamon bun! Tom, you got some splainin to do! My chicken fried steak was, as was his meal, a disappointment. Thought well presented, it did not live up to the radio preaching of what was in store. The side dish, a medley of roasted vegetables, looked fine. However, they were enthusiastically roasted to the point of being bitter. The small portion of mashed potatoes that supported the steak was very good. The chicken fried steak was a surprise. It looked like a perfectly presented advertisement. Crisp outer shell with just the correct amount of "white gravy". The first bite told a different story. The chopped and breaded steak had zero flavor and was missing some tenderness. I could not taste anything but the subtle taste of a steamed product. Neither the meat nor the coating had any distinct seasoning. Maybe the saving feature would be the home style gravy. Nope! The simple gravy was totally devoid of flavor. Though peppered, it had no taste. Unseasoned steak, unseasoned breading and tasteless gravy turned my meal into a real dud. I cannot believe that a Saturday meal at about eleven-thirty in the morning would get me the "B" team. How hard can it be to carefully cook two eggs and make a chicken fried steak? For the price I expected much more. Is it possible the cost of advertising is diverting the funds necessary to train the kitchen?

Love this place! If you go on the weekend, be prepared to wait. It's worth the wait. Every time I've been, the hardest part is deciding what to get. The sticky bun is a must order (at least once). It'll feed 4 easily. The pancakes are perfectly fluffy and taste just right. I've never ordered anything without eggs, but the egg dishes are amazing. The special one day was pork with eggs over easy. The pork was fall-off-the-bone tender and again great flavors.

TheBetterHalf® and I attempted lunch here recently. We wanted to like it, because it's close to home and serves breakfast/brunch food. It's hard to go wrong with breakfast/brunch. Yet Crossroads Diner managed. It was a disappointment all the way around. The service, the atmosphere, the pricing and the food all missed. The menu is full of ingredients that should please the palate. Sadly, the food isn't full of those same ingredients. The pancakes were dense. The maple syrup was thin and watery. The Boursin was more reminiscent of sour cream than cream cheese. I won't be back, and I recommend that you skip it entirely.

My SO and I went to this place last Sunday. Since it was after Church, it was pretty packed. As others have mentioned, you can be pretty mobile in the interim since they text you when a table opens for your party. When we did get sat, about 20 - 25 minutes after our arrival, we were enticed by the large cinnamon roll appetizers that other tables were ordering. We passed as we didn't want to blow our entire caloric bank before the beginning of the meal, but it looked and smelled awesome. I got the house special. It was a succulent pork loin atop a bed of the best, cheesy grits I've ever had. And I don't like grits! He got the other house special that day, the chicken enchiladas. Cheesy, creamy baked goodness. They incorporated poblano peppers which gave the dish a deep, smokey undertone. The service was impeccable. Glasses were always full and we never felt ignored. And yes, the short stack of pancakes were as good as everyone claims. Soft and buttery served with high quality maple syrup. Don't pass these up! We will be back!

Visiting Dallas for the weekend, and heard many good things about this place. We went on a Sunday morning and it was very packed but the wait wasn't more than 30 minutes which passed relatively quickly. We didn't know how much food we would get and being super hungry, my two sisters and I ordered way too much. We heard the Sticky Bun was really good and ordered two thinking they were small Cinnabon's but they turned out to be HUGE (enough for 4-6 people to munch on as an app). We each ordered the Breakfast Skillet and claimed our free stack of blueberry pancakes (courtesy of Yelp). Our waiter was really accommodating as we had a few substitutions in the skillet and we also claimed the free stacks- but he didn't give us a hard time at all. The breakfast skillet was really good but also so heavy we barely finished half. Pancakes were delicious as well but at this point after receiving all the food- we seriously regretted ordering THAT much for 3 people. All in all, great breakfast spot, great service, I would go back!

Checked out this place after leaving a doctors appt. I love diner food so I had decent expectations and just wanted to grab a quick bite. I walked in and was seated pretty quickly. I had the sweetest server and I used a Yelp check-in deal and got free pancakes with my meal! I chose the charizo and eggs and pecan pancakes. The charizo is not like crumbled charizo its more like patties of meat like pork sausage which wasn't expected but tasted fine. The pancakes were pretty small but were decent. All in all the service outshined the food just a bit (which isnt too bad of a thing). I would definitely go there again.

This place definitely didn't live up to the hype. Service was very slow and the food was nothing more than average. With so many breakfast places in town I won't be back to this one.

It's always a long weekend wait for ordinary food which I will never understand. The cinnamon roll fed our table of four easily. Although huge, it wasn't particularly fresh and was served stone cold. We sent it back to be nuked and if was much better. Pancakes were light and fluffy, omelet was hot and fresh. Bacon was crisp, without much bacony goodness flavor. There are other placed without a wait that I would head to before coming here twice.

Thank goodness for the short stack of pancakes that came with my entree. They helped to soak up some of the grease that coated my meal. I've been meaning to try this place ever since I saw a write up on them in D Magazine. I was expecting an awesome breakfast/brunch, but instead got a meal that was just okay. I ordered the Corned Beef & Hash with 2 eggs. It included the short stack and I added the sausage and toast. The good: - My food came out very quickly. - I asked for eggs over medium and they were cooked correctly. - The pancakes were fluffy. The bad: - The sausage, corned beef and eggs were greasy. - My toast add-on came with only 1 piece of toast. Not to be greedy, but two would have been nice for $1.50. I meant to order a sticky bun "to go" after reading other reviews, but after my disappointment in my meal, I just wasn't in the mood.

This is not your typical diner!!! The food is flavorful and delicious and the menu is so extensive! The sticky bun "appetizer" is seriously out of this world - a must get. The only down side is they don't take reservations and it seems like there is almost always a 30 minute wait. Well worth it though :)

it was decent, just your average diner but nothing special. busy place with mostly families and couples. but there was nothing of the "wow factor" service was speedy and everything was good. been there, done that. ooh their sticky bun was really good but after 3 or 4 bites you are pretty much going to turn into glucose. lol. it's HUGE, i mean FOUR people can totally eat this. even 5.

This is a great spot for breakfast. We tried the original pancake house the day before it was not bad, but the pancakes here are way better. They also had a supply of children's books to keep your child busy until the food comes. The portion size was a little small for the price, but yelp has a $$ for a reason. Overall it wasn't expensive. My plate with two eggs, meat, pancakes and grits was $9.00. I will go back for breakfast another day.

This place has been so hyped up that I was expecting much more than I got! My fiance and I came on a Saturday morning around 10:30 and of course we expected a wait- there were loads of loud little kids running around and the waiting area was not big enough to accommodate everyone so we waited on a bench outside. There is nothing special about the ambiance of this place. It could be a cool space but unfortunately, it looks a little run down from both the outside and inside. And, its kinda in an odd location in a rundown strip center but it is nice to have a dining option over where there are so few places to choose from. Anyways, the coffee was burnt tasting and I wouldn't have really enjoyed it anyways because the restaurant was so loud- I like my Saturday morning brunch to be more relaxed typically. I ordered the frittata with red peppers, chorizo, and goat cheese which sounded fantastic but they were way to eggy for my liking and not enough peppers, chorizo, or goat cheese. I also ordered cheese grits but there was maybe a half a teaspoon of cheese put on the grits and the grits themselves were very soupy- almost like a bowl of cream gravy. I felt guilty eating them but they were tasty. My hash browns were cooked perfectly. My fiance said his pancakes were some of the best he's ever had. I thought everything was pretty inexpensive but really just hit or miss on the quality. I'd come back again for an average meal... hopefully, next time it's a hit.

Alright...this place is truly amazing. If there were more stars to give, I totally would! I ordered the eggs florentine and devoured every bite! It came with a side of pancakes...which I was worried about because I am very picky about them. I was so happy to find them fluffy, buttermilk rich, and perfect in every way. Might be the best I've had in Dallas, and I've lived here my whole life! Our server, Leila, was great! Very attentive, funny, and informative. I asked for "real" butter, and she found some with a smile. I can't wait to come back here, sometime, with friends! Sooooo gooooood!

We came here for brunch. I ordered egg whites with chorizo and grits with a side of crispy Bacon and blueberry pancakes. The chorizo came in a form of patties. It was flavorful and spicy. It was a little on the greasy side but it was good. I wasn't a fan of the grits though. I got the yellow grits which consist of cheddar cheese. I took my first bite and the grits were bland. I did not taste any cheese either. The bacon was perfect though as I like it crispy. The pancakes were good but felt like part of the texture of the pancake was gooey. Seems like it was undercooked. Oh the syrup for the pancakes was very runny. It was like pouring water on our pancakes. My husband did get the waffles and those were perfect. Overall our brunch was just ok and our waiter was friendly.

Probably the best breakfast I've had in a long time. I've been to Crossroads before, but my second time there surpassed my initial visit. My husband had eggs benedict and I had pecan pancakes (which weren't as good as the eggs benedict). They gave us so much food I had food for the next two days. I definitely recommend splitting a plate. From what I understand, they hand pick their sausage, so I'll have to try that when I come back. I also found out through the waitress that they make sticky buns every hour, so I'll be sure to try that the next time I go. Get there early cause there are always lines. And be aware that they are not open all day. I know that the last time I tried going with my husband they had closed. So check the hours. You definitely get a lot for your money and you'll be assured that the food is good since it's prepared by a 4 star chef who won the James Beard award, which is the most coveted and most prestigious award you can get (and is equivalent to winning the Oscar). I will definitely be back and will invite my family when they come over.

Get here early. Waiting for breakfast is never fun. There is a good reason for the wait though, they have great food at good prices. I ordered scrambled eggs with sausage, toast, and grits. I was surprised that the grits had Parmesan cheese but it turned out to taste really good! The sausage was also super flavorful and as far from dry as a patty could be. My boyfriend got the eggs benedict which were also good but not the best I've had. It's priced rightly so though at under $10. So technically it's the best eggs benedict I've tasted under the $10 mark. The service was average and they had some difficulty splitting up our check at the check out but even through the frustration they were nice about it. I don't think I will return often, not because it's a bad restaurant but because it meets my standard but doesn't surpass it on enough levels as so many other brunch spots in the metro area.

The food was great, but the service was TERRIBLE! We had breakfast with the family and they never brought us water or extra plates for the kids to eat on. We waited and waited and the food was getting cold so I had to get up and ask another waiter to help us out. That's just not good service!

GREAT PLACE I have eaten breakfast here several times and its always better than expected, I would recommend any of the breakfast specials...I always get the most exotic choice, enchiladas, pork shank, stuff with verde or special sauce...yes its breakfast and its pretty much fine dining...plenty of food and a very fair price for the quality. They have great sausage and bacon and maybe the best pancakes in town Oh yeah...the cinnamon roll and there coffee are top notch, can't go wrong here.

This is not a place I will go again. I went recently and tried to eat the chicken fried steak meal, but emphasis on tried. The meat was about a 2 inch rubber patty covered in a 4 inch breading. When I told the waitress, she had nothing to say nor did she try to compensate me. Then while paying the hostess merely replied with "I guess you will know for next time, but I will let the chef know". Poor attitude and mediocre service on a day in which it was slow.

Great breakfast! Large portions and quality ingredients! Will definitely come back next time we're in the area!

Super close to my office, I've now made 2 visits here. I'm not sure if the hype has died down since the first visit, but it was way less crowded and we had no wait. Not going to lie, it's pretty hard to have outstanding breakfast fare. I mean, eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc....I think everyone has a wider range of tolerance for the morning goods. My last visit, I was freezing from my office heater being on the fritz. All I wanted was a stack of pancakes with some warm syrup in my belly. After convincing some coworkers to go with, we showed up and were sat immediately. I got eggs with sausage and pancakes and a side of bacon. I like a choice in meat, what? Eggs scrambled...fluffy I guess....they are eggs. I asked for cholula and she never brought it to me. Sad face. Sausage were 2 bigger patties, still glistening with grease. Pretty good flavor. Bacon was crisp but for once in my life, I think I preferred the sausage! Pancakes were fluffy, butter was whipped, syrup warm. Craving done. Service is pretty standard, as far as I saw. I'd probably never suggest this place as a destination breakfast spot, but if you're close by and hungry- it's a decent pick.

Usually great. I come here often. The food is delicious and some of the items are unique, like shrimp and grits for breakfast for instance. I've had oatmeal here. I've had egg and sausage plates. I've had omelettes. I've had waffles and pancakes. I've had their gooey cinnamon buns. All were good. Sometimes the service is slow or worse, once when they were on a wait they skipped us in line and we waited half an hour longer than we should have without an apology despite having our names on the list. But overall usually the service is adequate and the food good.

Only been here once but will definitely go back since I was drooling at all the food everyone ELSE was getting. Unfortunately, I picked some blasé choices for brunch. Split a crossroads frittata and wrongly had it without peppers, along with the toast, and hashbrowns- and a serving a biscuits and gravy. Aka out plates had a total of two colors going on. The frittata was meh- luckily the hashbrowns were yummy. I'm a sucker for any offering of biscuits and gravy so decided to delve in to a hearty plate and... bleh. The biscuits were like pillsbury biscuits and I'm not hating on pillsbury, it's just not correct brunch biscuits. And the gravy was bland and watery. Altogether the meal was anything but overwhelming. Seriously, the food being walked by- the pancakes, mac'n'cheese etc looked awesome though. So... why 4 stars?? Yes, the place was cute and there was not wait even on a Sunday and it actually wasn't a diner. So why 4 stars in the land of Dallas aka land lacking brunch? STICKY BUN!!! Holy crap- that sticky bun was a-maz-ing!! Usually amazing food pics are misleading but not here. This is THE REAL DEAL. Next time I shall have 20 on my own- no sharing.

Really great diner food. Love the apple cinnamon pancakes and the chicken and waffles. Husband had eggs florentine which was also fantastic. Ambiance, service, and wait time were all ok but the food made up for it.

This place gets super packed! waited about 20-25 minutes for my table. Had a party for two, but i dont know why they tried to seat me at a table in which the menu was half the size of? so i asked to move and they didnt mind doing so. I just felt bad for the two people i saw sitting there after me. all the food we ordered wouldnt have fit on the table!! we ordered the sticky bun, i think its something really popular they have? its an enormous cinnamon bun. i think it would be enough for 3 to share if youre having along with your entree. I ordered the corned beef hash with eggs. It was ok to me.. it comes with pancakes as well. theyre light and fluffy, the syrup was warm, but watery. i wouldnt mind giving this place another try.. i would just be sure to not come already hungry because i would get hungry during the wait haha.

Just had breakfast here and really enjoyed it. The sticky bun and pancakes are a must! It is absolutely amazing. Just be careful with the syrup...it's very watery and you will end up eating syrup with some pancakes. We ordered the eggs benedict and my hubby the corn beef hash and they were both good. I can't say my eggs benedict were the best I ever had but it was good. I think my hubby's food was better though. This place is family friendly and it is very laid back. The service was great! Our waitress was wonderful and sweet. We will be back...

Fantastic Brunch! Terrific service, awesome coffee (love that you serve RAW sugar) and fabulous Eggs Benedict- pancakes rock too! You gotta love any place that serves a short stack w/ every b'fast entree :) I look forward to my next meal at Crossroads!

I used my "Best Of..." smartphone app to find this place which won a "Best Breakfast" award in 2011. So glad I did because I had one of the best restaurant breakfasts in months here! I started with a single biscuit and gravy. (Yea, I know... an appetizer for breakfast???) And it was quite yummy. No sooner had it vanished from my plate, the main course arrived. I had the schnitzel (sp?) on a bed of yellow grits with eggs Benedict on top, Hollandaise sauce and some other yummy brown sauce drizzled around the whole thing. (There was also spinach, but I asked them to serve that on the side.) This was something I'd never tasted before and was delighted to finally experience it. I should not have had to wait until I got this old to do so, though! My friend ordered the Pecan Sticky Bun Bread Pudding French Toast with sausage patties. This tasted as decadent it sounds. I had one square for myself. Not for the faint of heart. Definitely worth it. I suggest buying one for the table and sharing as it's probably way too much sugar for a normal person to healthily consume in a single sitting. Rhonda, our server, was nearly as sweet as the French Toast! She was lovely. So quick to come to the table if she so much as spotted me looking around the dining area in her direction, even if I wasn't trying to get her attention. Helpful to a T with descriptions of the day's specials, answering questions about the menu and overall giving us a warm reception. I'll ask for her when I go back, and I will most definitely be returning!

Hidden little gem, it's fantastic. I split the sticky bun with a friend and it was nothing short of magical. I got the eggs Benedict as recommended by many, and it did not disappoint! I'm sure to be a regular here!

My daughter and I are carrying on our search for the best pancakes in Big D. This morning we landed at Crossroads Diner which was crowded so we took that to be a good sign. It was a hive of activity and full of lively conversation (code for loud). The wait staff was prompt and friendly. The orange juice was freshly squeezed, tangy-sweet, with pulp; just the way we like it. Our thick stack of pancakes arrive a light golden brown, piping hot, and lightly dusted with powdered sugar. The pancakes were slightly sweet, very moist, and steaming hot. We almost burned our mouth on the first bite so we let them cool off a bit. After applying generous amounts of butter and pancake syrup, we delighted in every bite of fluffy, sweet, cakey, goodness. My daughter said that she didn't like the after taste, which she said was "gross" but I didn't share that experience. The pancakes did have an ever so slight hint of funnel cake. Ultimately my daughter and I disagreed on our ratings: she gave the pancakes a 6 out of a possible 10, but I was more favorable at a 8. There were plenty of other savory items on the menu but if you're craving pancakes, Crossroads Diner will not disappoint.

Been there three times - food was always good. Great homemade biscuits! Had waffles and sticky bun as well - both are very good. Sticky bun is very rich and need about 4 people to finish it.

Place was delicious! I stopped in because I had an interview at Texas Presbyterian Hospital. I got the special which was "B&B." Consisted of eggs, a baguette, brie, salsa, and deliciousness. There was a check in order for free blueberry pancakes. The blueberry was out of season so I got apple cinnamon ones. Best pancakes I ever had. The waitress was nice and very prompt. I loved the atmosphere of the place and I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area. Best of all, the prices were pretty cheap compared to other breakfast places I've been to.

Great breakfast. I went to Crossroads with a group of five, and everyone's food looked delicious. I ordered the cinnamon apple waffle--it came with a big dollop of whipped sweet cream, and it was divine. Homemade sausage on the side was the perfect compliment. We arrived around 9 on a Saturday morning, and with a party of five (plus a baby), we were seated immediately. I would imagine that Crossroads gets pretty busy around brunch time, so the earlier you arrive, the better. Pretty good stuff! I'd go back.

I've been here plenty of times (maybe too many) and it's not great, but it's not bad either. The only reason I give it 3 stars is the service. The food is just delicious! Cinnamon buns are a must. Whatever you order, it's going to be great. The food gets 5 stars hands down. However, the service kind of ruins the experience. It's almost always crowded and the wait is almost ridiculously long. People really like the food! The waiters are very friendly and they really do try their best. On more than one occasion, they have run out of things on Sunday, so be wary of that. In a small group, 2-4, getting your food isn't a problem. But when I go with a large group, things go bad. The food comes out 15 minutes apart and cold, the orders get mixed up, forget about your drinks. Overall: The food is fabulous and at a good price. The service is friendly, but fades in larger groups. This place is popular so expect a wait, always. Overall a great place to go!

We tried it for breakfast for the first time on a Sunday (1/22/12). It was busy when we arrived about 9:45 am and super busy when we left, so they must be doing something right. The sticky bun is phenomenal and you have to try it even if you are not a big fan of sweets. That alone is a 5 star starter and we thought it was a very good start to the meal. The rest of the breakfast went downhill from there. I got the corned beef hash, which, although made with real corned beef, was greasy. My eggs were good and tasted fresh. The hash browns were good but also kind of greasy. The wife got eggs, biscuits and gravy, and pancakes. Two biscuits to an order. She loves biscuits and gravy but only ate one half of one and left the rest. The dough of the biscuits was dense and heavy, and the gravy had little flavor. The pancakes were white and tasted undercooked; the syrup was thin and runny. The wife argued for 2 stars based on her meal. My mom got the eggs Florentine and loved them. She said her meal was a 5. Service was good even though it was very busy. The place is clean and the inside is very large. I think we will give them another chance based on the sticky bun alone. Next time I will get a bun and the eggs.

This was our first time coming to Crossroads, and in a word it was OUTSTANDING. It has a large dining room, and a a large "waiting area" which has plenty of benches. So, even if it's crowded it's not painful to wait, meaning you are not shoulder to shoulder with the person next to you. Among other things, our party ordered the sticky bun (so big it can serve 3-4 people), the eggs Benedict, and the chicken hash & eggs. All were simply outstanding. Our server was Lindsey, simply excellent. She knew the menu cold, answered all questions knowledgeably, and was on top of every detail. Coffee and water filled regularly and without asking. Asking how our food was, etc. Even when we needed a slightly different menu item - it was done perfectly and quickly. Ask for her if you go. In this area of town, many people have the choice of going to Cindi's, which I also like, but the food mix is different. Price-wise, this is on par with Cindi's. Atmosphere-wise, this is more "pleasant". The dining room is lighter and brighter; you don't feel as if you are in "diner", or a Denny's like place. MUCH more upscale feel. This will be in our regular rotation!

We went back for a weekend brunch when the weather finally broke and outdoor seating was possible without expiring from the heat. This visit was disappointing due to being largely ignored by our sever, and being CHARGED EXTRA for taking our leftovers home! Our server did not disclose this surcharge - I was unhappily surprised by it when I FINALLY got the bill. Had I known they charged for this service, we would not have gotten sticky buns to go, and I certainly would not have brought my son's chips home! The actual quality of the food was good, but I am so outraged by the surcharges that I seriously doubt I will ever be back.

We stopped by for breakfast and left with a new favorite breakfast place. I got the "Eggs and" with toast, pancakes, and sausage. The sausage patties were big and really flavorful. They may well be make there. The pancakes were perfect in their fluffiness and flavor. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The server knew what true service is about -- meeting our needs before we even knew we had them. She brought extra butter. Brought extra sugar packets and cream with coffee refills, etc. Great food and experience all around.

Went here on Thursday for brunch and everything was wonderful!!! Our server was attentive and the food was delicious! The sticky buns would satisfy anyone's craving and the pancakes are light and airy. I don't think I will ever be able to eat pancakes anywhere else now that I've eaten the best. Can't wait to go back!!

Such high hopes. Went here for brunch on a Saturday. We had to wait 30 minutes, because it was so busy, but were looking forward to what we hoped would be a good meal. I ordered poached eggs with bacon and grits, while the fiancé had the eggs florentine. As soon as the plate was put in front of me I noticed a hair in my bacon and a piece of sponge or cloth in my grits. The waitress was very apologetic and immediately brought me a new breakfast, but the first plate definitely ruined the meal. They definitely handled it well - they even comped both of our meals - but I can't see myself going back, especially considering the other reviews I've read with similar experiences.

The food was so good I went there twice while I was visiting in Dallas. The service was really good except for one sever. This person did not know the menu which almost got my brother-in-law killed. We asked if their were nuts in their famous sticky bun, he said no. (BTW it's full of them) One bite and he had to spit it out. Luckily he did not have a reaction. However the next day all was forgiven with the chicken and waffles and a great conversation with the chef's wife.

Good food. It wasn't the greatest I ever had but I would eat there again. If that makes any sense. Maybe for the service more than food. The way they seat you is kinda confusing I felt like I was skipped at the beginning .... but not a big deal. Our waitress ( please forgive me for not remembering her name sorry!) I think she was from Laos Was amazing. Supper nice and attentive. Being as busy as it was. All And all if someone asks you to go there for a meal I wouldn't refuse it.

Ha.....this was an unfinished review from about a year ago.... completely slipped my mind. we should go back! Just ate our first brunch here. It was delicious. Hubby had the corned beef hash and I had the special ( some breaded fried pork cutlet thingamebob atop of creamy cheesy grit goodness with spinach all topped of with a perfectly poached egg.... Oh and pancakes, there were pancakes too. All in all it was a great experience, good service and mimosas too. We will definitely be back!!!!

Ha, wow. Usually I agree with other yelpers, but this time I'm in shock! I love Crossroads. From the hostess to the waiters to the, last but not least, food! To start, the little red/black haired hostess is too friggin cute. She was perfectly alternative but non-threatening to all the bluehairs, and even took the time to pay compliments to both me and my mom. Each time I've been the waiters/resses have been fabulous. Onpoint and sweet. I asked our waiter today where they get the bread and cheese (because after eating a bite of that wheat I NEEDED to have a loaf), and he didnt only tell me the name but came back with the address and phone number of the bread company. and of course. The food. I get a fritita each time, and most recently chose the red pepper, goat cheese, and chorizo. The goat cheese is plentiful and fresh and creamy and amazing. The chorizo has perfect flavor and is nicely distributed through the fritata along with the red pepper. The fritata plates come with your choice of toast and hasbrowns. As I mentioned earlier, the bread is phenomenal, but my only complaint is the hashbrowns. They're a little on the soggy side. I prefer a much crisper hashbrown, but I'll forgive them :)

Best breakfast in Dallas??? I don't think so. Dry, old sticky bun. Chicken fried steak that was as dry and hard as the sole of my shoe. The only thing that made it edible was the gravy. Maple syrup seemed very watered down. Food took 35 minutes and service very lacking. Things that were not terrible?? Coffee, corned beef hash . . . . . I guess that is it. What is D Magazine talking about??

One of these days, I'm going to get my wish with either half stars or 10 point scale. Or not. Either way, I just couldn't go 4 stars here, so I'm giving it 5. Split the difference, call it 4.5, or 9 out of 10. The main reasons for the accolades: My perfectly cooked frittata and that awe inspiring sticky bun. Too many places just treat frittatas like an unfolded omelette, and it's not supposed to be. It should be done on the outside but still a little soft on the inside, and have the ingredients incorporated into the egg mixture, not laid on top. This frittata was spot-on, perfectly creamy on the inside. I selected the roasted red pepper, goat cheese and chorizo "model", and if there was the tiniest nit, it was that the chorizo could have used more "umph". Accompanying hash browns were fresh and had a nice crisp on the outside while still being tender on the inside. Side dishes of bacon (crispy with a great smoky flavor) and patty sausage (great sage-y flavor without a ton of grease) were winners as well. And finally, that sticky bun. Damn. It's huge, it's delicious, and, well, it's delicious. On top of everything else, our service was great and it's in a nice environment, though not quite like what one would consider a "diner" from a decor standpoint.

My husband would rate this as 5 stars, but I think it is 2 stars. I will start with positive comments. He ordered the Breakfast Skillet with Salsa Verde & Tortillas. He loved his meal, and the service was friendly. This restaurant is very popular. I ordered the BLT with chips. My bacon was extremely fatty and not crispy. It was gross. The bread was very very greasy. I didn't like this BLT at all, and I eat BLTs often. The chips were not tasty. Fries would have been a better option. When I ordered and asked about the soup of the day, the choice was french onion. I don't even like to consider french onion soup a "soup" because it is not very filling. The other soup was clam chowder. Neither of these options are good for a picky eater. I ended up eating my husband's side of pancakes that came with his meal. Those were actually good. The waitress did not ask if I liked my BLT at all. There was a lot of food left on my plate when she took it away. I didn't really care for the items to choose from on the menu. It was difficult for me to choose something.

Love this hidden gem for breakfast. It's a great place with good food. The only downside to this place is they have a lot of big corporate meetings so it can get a bit loud. Nice staff and good service!

I had a awful experience here on 1/22/11. This review is based only on the service, because we didn't get a chance to try the food. I got excited about trying this spot because of the reviews, so Carla and I headed there for lunch at about 1pm. We entered and were given a pager and were told it would be a 5 to 10 minute wait. We sat on a bench, and took a look around. It was pretty busy, but there were a few tables open. I guess they were saving the 4 seat tables for larger parties....I guess. So we waited.... Another couple came in after we did and sat down with their pager. Their pager went off, and they were seated. We still waited..... Another couple came in, and they were quickly seated. I don't know...maybe they had reservations???? The wait continued.... Someone then came over to us, and asked us which pager did we have. She looked at the number on the bottom of it, and gave it back to us. Maybe they buzzed the wrong pager???? I don't know. Then two women came in and sat near us, waiting on a table. Their pager went off and they were quickly seated. That was enough for me. I don't know if their pagers were broken, I don't know if it was incompetence by the hosts, and at this point, when I'm finished writing this review, I won't care anymore. If you didn't want us in your restaurant for some reason...mission accomplished, congrats!

I visited Crossroads on Easter of 2012, and just now getting around to writing a review. I dined with my daughter, her husband and three kids, ages 16, 5, & 7 months. Being Easter didn't mean much for us because we are Jewish and TRY to keep kosher, etc, more for health reasons. However it was Passover, but the famous sticky buns proved to be too much to resist and we got one and shared it between the 5 of us. Repent and keep the rest of Passover unleavened. My grand daughter and grandson shared the brioche french toast which look light and fluffy and both enjoyed very much. My daughter and her husband shared one of the daily specials which included shellfish (kosher right out the window there) and I had the corned beef hash & eggs which was excellent. Their coffee was pretty good and the service was great considering it was a busy holiday. It's doesn't hurt to have an adorable baby to attract all the wait staff to your table. The place is cute with a 50's diner motif, but more upper class type food than a 50's diner. I would return here, but I live in FT. Worth and honestly there are places here just as good. If my daughter wants to meet me here another time I won't hesitate. It did seem like there was an abundance of pork and shellfish in their foods but there were other items that were at least acceptable, which is why the three stars. Of the three pictures suggested to accompany your reviews not one is pork free!

The Oprah Crowd cometh After a disastrous visit to Glen Lakes Grill, we decided to try the building next door since it seemed to be always full. The interior had an old plantation feel to it, very open and illuminated by huge sky lights. The thing that caught my attention the most is the clientele. It seems the demographics is middle age woman. There must have been a 80/20 split. The food was actually quite good. This is more of a breakfast place and a very good one at that. I had the eggs with homemade chorizo and hashbrown. I enjoyed all but the hashbrown, it had a strange spice flavor to it. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, tasted a bit strange. I also had a cup of clam chowder. I really enjoyed it, it had a spicy taste that warmed me up on that cold day. Bring your crochet needles

What a cute place! Lots of my friends have told me to make a trip here. Bonus- its in my new neighborhood. Service was fantastic- food was delicious and they even let me customize my breakfast, as I was really craving a breakfast sandwich, which isn't on the menu. The pancakes are to die for!!! You have to get the pancakes!!!

Solid service. The french toast is probably a little too big as far as a slice is concerned, not number of slices. Bacon is good. Will definitely be back when the occasion calls.

Meal: Butternut Squash soup with Macaroni and Cheese, coffee & a glass of water. Total Price (pre-tip): $17.32 Right off the bat - I loved this place & will definitely go out of my way to eat there again. I happened across Crossroads Diner while I was looking for a place to eat after a dental appointment earlier this week. It was cold, I was starving and comfort food was my goal. Crossroads diner did not disappoint. Win #1 - The parking lot was ice free. On a day where even highways had ice, I was pleasantly surprised to see the parking lot completely cleaned off. This shows attention to detail that extends past the doors of the restaurant. Meh #1 - When I walked in, the hostess asked me if I was there for a takeaway order & when I said no she seemed a little put off that I wanted a table. This could have been from a thousand and one things but it rubbed me the wrong way a bit. Meh #2 - Despite a sea of open tables, the hostess walked toward a small stool/bar section tucked into the corner. Sitting there meant my back would have been to the rest of the restaurant. When she asked if that would be an okay seat, I said I preferred a table. Again, she seemed a bit off put but seated me. She was courteous during both meh 1 & 2 but I still felt a vibe of irritation from her. Win #2 - My server was awesome. Friendly, and just the right amount of chatty/perky. I order a cup of coffee and a glass of water while I looked over the ample menu. I swear he conjured up that coffee while standing there because it was on the table super fast. Nothing special about the coffee, but it was hot & good. After a bit of quick deliberation I decided to order the Mac & Cheese and a cup of Butternut Squash soup. The soup materialized almost instantly. I began to look for a wand in the server's apron. Win #3 - The soup. Holy hell, the soup. I would like a constant flow of this soup in my mouth at all times. Perfectly sweet and salty with a dollop of what looked like creme fraiche but was slightly sweeter. This soup was nothing short of amazing. I wish I had ordered a bowl. Damn good soup. At this point, I broke out my Kindle so I could continue reading the Hunger Games while I enjoyed my meal. The server reappeared briefly to ensure all was well & deliver my Mac & Cheese with a side of roasted veggies. I was a bit disappointed by the amount of char on the roasted veggies. The onions on the top were straight up burnt but it barely detracted from the sweetness of the dish. Onion, squash, carrots and leek were all delicious and quickly disappeared. Win #4 - The Mac & Cheese. Sweet Jesus this stuff is good. Rigatoni pasta with a roasted garlic cheese sauce, perfectly softened onions & generous thick strips of smoked ham. At $10.95 it was a bit pricey for the portion, but coupled with the roasted veggies, it's the perfect size for lunch. I ate at leisurely pace while reading. I never felt rushed or pressured to finish up. My server checked in on me with eerily perfect timing. I was never caught mid-chew or without a full glass/cup. Unfortunately, my blissful lunch was interrupted when the hostess sat a 20-something couple consisting of a wannabe foodie and a loud talker. The wannabe foodie went on and on about the delicious thyme in the vases on the table (it was rosemary) & the loud talker girlfriend explained the plans for a party at great length. I left a few minutes after they were seated but I was finished anyway so other than being irritated due to personal preference it was no big deal. There was a new hostess at the front and she was very nice. We had a quick conversation about the skin on my Kindle & the weather while she took care of my check. All in all this place is awesome. I'm sure that the initial downers with the hostess were just flukes and separately they would barely have registered. Crossroads Diner was a great respite on a cold day & offered up some phenomenal eats.

for startersI felt like I was back in NYC for the 30 min wait, but well worth it... WOW!!! 1st course sticky bun and warm blueberry muffin wow!!!! Best sticky bun ever... Service was outstanding... homefries and chorizo patty were really great and the homemade chips I ate every last one of them...next time BLT for sure... Maybe I didn't make the best choices of GRITs and a takehome egg salad sandwich...other things on the menu to try for sure and we'll definitely be back...after a work-out next time, because I went into a food coma... bon appetit
