Follow-up to my review of almost a year ago - we went to Coffee House Cafe last Saturday morning for breakfast with friends visiting from Chicago. From start to finish, the service was excellent - friendly, prompt, courteous and professional. All four of us enjoyed our meals. All in all, a vast improvement from our last visit. I will also share that the owner responded to me directly based on my review of 10/13/12 asking me to come back for a complimentary meal. I graciously declined only because I wanted my next visit to be at my own expense so I could give a more unbiased opinion. Thank you for the improved service, and we will definitely be back again soon!

When we first discovered this place, it was our go-to place. You have to get the French Toast Sandwich! That french toast is so good! It looks really fulfilling but don't be scared cause it's so good! The french toast is soft & moist and balances out the saltiness of the bacon & ham & egg is good on everything. We also tried the Rancheros & surprisingly, I liked it. The cilantro three bean mix goes well w/ the eggs and salsa for a flavor that is not too bean-y. Then we finished everything w/ the beignets. Sometimes we would go here just for a cup of coffee and the beignets. The coffee here has a design in their cup and although it's nothing fancy, it makes their coffee that much more appealing. The patio gives this cozy, backyard atmosphere w/ a fireplace too & the inside has a retro, classic black & white diner atmosphere. Next time, I want to try the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes!

After driving around I finally found the place. For some reason, my GPS sent me to the opposite side of the Coffee House. I have to say that I found it by chance, while I was looking for a place to park for a second to get the address again and put it in my GPS. Anyway!! I found the place. The first impression, "it's cute". The second impression "wow it's full, must be good". I have to admit that I WAS LOOKING forward to try the beignets, I'm a big fan of Cafe Du Monde... Looking at the menu, the food looked super tasty. The server was very fast to go to my table, he brought me water and took my order. The order was as follow: - Latte - Beignets - Chipotle Migas Let's start with the coffee... It was cold :-( and the taste wasn't all that. I hate to say it but I can make a better latte at home. The only thing I don't know how to do its the design, but I'm sure that once I learn how to do so... BOOM my coffee will be better. I think what made it worst was that it was cold. Beignets: flat... Nothing to do with the beignets I've had in the past. Not good. Flavorless. Forgettable. Chipotle Migas: Now this was better! A good portion a little bland. It had onions I think peppers and chipotle sauce. I saw the chipotle sauce but it didn't have that kick. The potatoes were really good. I think it was priced OK but the food can improve A LOT!! I might - not sure - try it again... Although I have a long list of places I want to try.

I have always seen this restaurant and have bookmarked it to try. I really hope this restaurant stays in business as others that have been in that building didn't last as long. When you walk in, it's very dim, but the ambience has a relaxed feel to it, I LOVED it. You walk in, you see a coffee bar as well as a regular bar with alcohol. We were seated quickly, and the waitress was very knowledgable of the menu and gave many recommendations. If you want to sample any of the soups, they will bring a small sample of it. The roasted poblano soup IS FREAKIN' awesome here, so I highly recommend that. I ordered half an order of the chicken club, and it was divine. I was really impressed with the food, and I recommend truffle fries b/c they are lightly seasoned with sea salt and other seasons, it was good. I wanted to try their coffee, so I ordered a small latte, I highly recommend that as well. I don't recommend the beignet though as I didn't feel it had enough flavor to it. I can't wait to come back and try their brunch menu, they have a good selection on brunch items. They are known for their lemon pancakes. I will definitely come back again. Coffee House Cafe - I think I love you, please don't lead me astray.

I just had the most perfect breakfast here! The lemon ricotta pancakes were amazing! My extra crispy bacon was served just as I had ordered it and the house latte was a wonderful combo of caffeine with just enough sweetness. I sat at the bar and the bartender/server was very attentive and nice (Her name started with a 'T'...I can't recall her exact name, although she remembered mine and even said it as I was leaving the restaurant.) Great experience!

The atmosphere is cozy...exposed brick and an open-air covered patio are nice touches. The food here was good. I had poblano soup and a sandwich. This place has free wifi so I could also get some work done while there. I gave it 3 stars because the service could've been way better. Server seemed preoccupied, forgot my beverage and its refills and put the check down soon after food was served without offering anything else. I'll go back again with my fingers crossed that the service will improve.

Place improved in 2 years a lot. Their coffee drinks always please, but now menu and execution are respectable too. It is easily one of the best breakfast places in Far North Dallas and suburbs.

Absolutely Love Love Love this place! This will be a new regular spot. Coffee was amazing! Pancakes and chicken sausage great... Atmosphere great. Love the patio.

We eat here regularly. Food is consistently fresh and delicious. Kids love the lemon ricotta pancakes and frozen hot chocolate. My latest favorite is fish tacos and veggie soup. The bacon blue burger, turkey panini, and truffle fries are also faves. Highly recommend this place. Usually a 15 minute wait for weekend breakfast/brunch but worth it!

We tried Coffee House Cafe one week night. We arrived about 8:00 and almost had the place to ourselves. Being neither a coffee nor breakfast fan, I was a little apprehensive about what items the menu would include for my tastes. Fortunately, there were several items, although the menu is somewhat limited in scope. I had cobb salad, a HUGE salad, too much to eat. My wife ordered sweet potato tots, something like "tater tots" but from sweet potatoes instead. They were so sweet, they could have been dessert instead of an appetizer. Forget the sauce that comes with them as it really doesn't go well, but the tots -- amazing! The wine list is adequate, not large , but several selections are well worth the money. This place is trying to become a neighborhood destination, and so far, it seems to be succeeding. We'll be back soon -- in the evening for dinner.

I hate to give this place two stars because they aren't the worst place ever. In fact, they have awesome coffee! On the other hand, their food is bland. It was the hugest disappointment. Apparently, D magazine had rated their Lemon Ricotta pancakes as the best, but they tasted very un-lemony. I could have maybe given this place more stars if my friends hadn't hated their food as well. I went in a fairly large group and there was not one person that enjoyed their food. One upside is that the place has regular live music and is ADORABLE. The environment is unlike any coffee shop/restaurant I've been in and that give it a unique quality. Unfortunately, I'm probably not going back.

Come in for their "Signature Lattés" only, other than that don't bother eating there. We were seated at one of their tables, still sticky to the touch, waited for some time as servers raced around like chickens with their heads cut off. Finally a waiter came, however it seemed like he was think about the next 10,000 items that he was forgetting. We quickly order everything at once because we were unsure when the next time he would stop back. I had their "Signature Latté" which is amazingly great. However my guest had just a cup of coffee which was mediocre. If you have Foursquare check-in because they offer free Beignets. These were also great tasting. That's where it ends. I ordered the House Benedict which was not great at all. The pancetta was over cooked and burnt with a drizzle of hollandaise sauce. Save yourself and don't order it. Lastly keep your eyes open for cleanliness. My linen wrapped silverware was dirty and I asked for new linen. They handed me a new roll which was also dirty but now I have two sets of silverware for the table and no napkin. Was also given two small share plates which were given to us dirty and with food dried to them. We asked a busier for new plates but these new plates we dripping wet and were left with the bussier's fingerprints. If we had a server that would stop and slow down to actually see how the table was instead of flying by without checking it maybe at least a decent experience. I've had better service at IHOP on a Sunday mid morning day in Dallas.

I go here almost every day for the signature cold brew.... by far the best coffee in the DFW area! Chelsea at the window is just the sweetest and remembers the customers by their first names, I don't even have to tell her my regular order! Consistently amazing coffee and they have a great sit down breakfast!!!!

I have to update my review as the last several times that we went ..the service was terrible and the coffee was plain wrong! I used to come here every weekend and enjoy their french pressed coffee and just relax but they not only raised their prices like 30 percent since opening day.. the service has seriously gone downhill. The french press has had all these nasty grounds in it the last 3 times . Im gettin fed up of trying them and hoping things will be better the next time. I sound like someone struggling with a breakup hahah! I just didnt want to mislead anyone with the previously great reviews i wrote so though Id update! The servers are definitely not as happy and accomodating as they once were... I think it will be starbucks from now on ;-(

I like this place. It has a very cool vibe. The staff is friendly. When I opened up the menu, I was impressed and excited. I ordered the Chicken Apple Sausage Hash. It was tasty but rather disappointing. The ingredients were diced way too small. The "hollandaise" sauce tasted mayo based. Weird. I'm going to give it another try...

I decided to try Coffee House Cafe after seeing they won the "Best of" award from the Dallas Observer. I was desperately trying to get some work done that day, and the local Starbucks where I often retreat was too crowded and noisy. I also wanted a change of environment. I liked what I saw when I walked in: an outdoor patio to the right with a fireplace, a big coffee bar (which is also a full service bar) in the middle with lots of outlets, newspapers near the bar, and a sit-down restaurant to the left. I decided to let the hostess show me where to go. After the hostess disappearing when she promised to seat me, someone came along and seated me at a two-person booth. I opened my laptop and got to work. Servers came by frequently to take my drink and food orders, which they promptly got to me. I should note that I arrived long after the lunch rush, so there weren't that many people in the restaurant. There was no outlet at my table, so that was a minus for a coffeehouse nowadays. The big plus? Free, fast, open WiFi that connected instantaneously for my computer and phone alike. Win! I was impressed with the bill: a filling lunch entree and two espresso-based drinks came to just under $20. Less impressive for a cranky patron trying to do work: servers coming by too frequently to ask if I wanted something. If I said I was happy ten minutes ago, I'm probably going to be all right ten minutes later. After a while (read: when my battery was dying), I paid my bill, hopped over to the coffee bar, and finished my work. That was where I should have started, as the bartender pretty much left me alone as I worked after first asking for my order. The stools were comfortable, the ambience was warm, and I could be productive without feeling rushed. I've returned once in the evening when it was busier. I stayed at the bar and did a lot of work, despite being surrounded by people out for a Friday evening of drinks and conversation. The bartender was still attentive, even during the rush. I'll keep returning. The prices for superior coffee drinks are reasonable, and it's a nice place for someone to work. The food is also very good. I recommend it for families as well.

I love Coffee House Cafe! The atmosphere is nice and laid back, I usually get my favorite table (someday I'll just call it "my" table), the tomato bisque is amazing, the Cafe Frangelico is angelic-o (okay, yeah, that's a stretch) and the servers have always been attentive and friendly. Oh, and Cody D., one of the managers, is fantastic. He's basically like Superman, except with a beard.

We have previously gone to this restaurant however that was for breakfast and we wanted to try dinner since dinner was recently added to their hours. We dined early at around 5:15PM and there were very few customers when we arrived. I ordered tea and the tea served was very weak and almost colorless. It was not a good glass of tea. We found the menu rather limited the night we were there. The entrees were five which included beef tips, Chicken Schnitzel, Scottish Salmon and Rotisserie Chicken. We both opted for the Pistachio Crusted Tilapia. It was served with sautéed vegetables. The piece of fish was large and fresh with a baked crust and topped with a light creamy sauce. It was delicious and in fact one of the best fishes we have eaten and that includes large seafood restaurants. Hard to believe we got that kind of fish at a coffee house. The vegetables were very crisp and they had been cooked in lemon/butter. The vegetables included squash, red and green bell peppers, Zucchini. The meal was outstanding. What would I add if I was the restaurant? I would include some type of small salad or perhaps a salad and dip dish. Does not have to be much. Also some type of bread should be served with the meals. The fish and vegetables just looked lonely on the nice rectangular plate. We found the prices to be reasonable with entrees around $12 to $15. By the time we left the restaurant had many more customers. This is a new location and the servers tried to please as we noticed similar service at other tables.

The lattes are creamy and smooth. The beans could be darker but anything smooth beats Strabuck's acidic black water. What was actually a pleasant surprise was the food. Corn beef sandwich was SO flavorful! Who would've thought that from a place known for their coffee? Also the chocolate muffin wasn't too sweet and quite moist. I am so going back! Service - well the waiter must've been new cause he was totally lost.

The BEST COFFEE. This is where I always go after work... sometimes not even after work.. like on my off days. I can eat here everyday. Everything on the menu is super! I love love love their buttermilk pancakes. Those are my favorite to order. Chicken-Apple Sausage Hash is also a must-try! Shrimp 'n grits too! You know, i will just be writing their menu in here because everything on it is delicious! And don't forget their Signature House Latte! it is awesome!

This place had an excellent breakfast and large cups of tasty coffee. I had the scrambled eggs on top of a tortilla and they were cooked to perfection. I am very picky when it comes to the way my eggs are cooked. I find that most places overcook them to death and they come out dry. These eggs were perfect; just about runny but not runny at all. I will definitely be going back when visiting Dallas.

Great coffee and wifi... nice comfy change from Starbucks right across the street (although I still frequent there also). Used to work nearby so breakfast & lunched there regularly I've had some really good dishes and some average. Beignet great, flatbreads very good, Reuben good, Turkey bacon pannini great, talapia and blackened shrimp thumbs down. We've had good service mostly and the occasional long wait to get our order taken/get the check. Staffing issue is my guess, has not stopped me from coming back so 4 stars it is.

French Toast Sandwich - perfect sweet & salty, french toast, cheese, bacon, sunny side up egg, and potatoes on the side! Mimosa were awesome with the fresh squeezed orange juice! I will be back!

The fries were good. The Reuben was laughable. The chips and marinara sauce was ok, I guess... They had Coke! So that was nice.

Visited today for the first time at about 1pm, they weren't super busy, and the host gladly cleared off a table for my friend and I on the patio. Our server stopped by fairly quickly to take our drink order, and brought out 2 waters. No ice in the water, no straws, semi-water spotted cups. Okay, whatever, the water looks cold. Then our server proceeded to do something that drives me crazy. She handled our water glasses at the top of the glass, placing her hands where you would drink from, instead of towards the bottom of the glass. I don't know why, but whenever that happens, it irks me. My friend and I shared an order of the beignets, and we each ordered a sandwich from the lunch side of the menu. The beignets came out fairly quickly, no more than 10 minutes and were hot and completely covered in powdered sugar. I was expecting more flavor from the beignet dough itself, but it was fairly basic, maybe a touch of vanilla or a spice in the dough would liven them up. After we finished the beignets, we watched our food get offered to 3 separate tables on the patio, while the food runner looked increasingly stressed and bewildered, and then went back inside to presumably check the table number. Our food was no longer piping hot, but rather warm. Bummer. My reuben had tons of corned beef, cheese and homemade kraut on it, but not nearly enough dressing. The rye bread was also very thinly cut, so by the time i got to the second half of my sandwich, it was soggy. The fries were nicely cooked, crispy shoe string cut, but I preferred just a touch more salt, easily remedied at the table. After paying the check, I wanted to stop by the espresso bar and check out the equipment and managed to order a latte, which the non-barista behind the bar said "Merry Christmas, don't worry about it." Sweet! The latte was flavorful and the milk was a luscious consistency with just the right amount of microfoam. Unfortunately the person who steamed the milk for my latte didn't steam enough the first go around, and had to ruin his latte art by adding more after. :( But it was free, and it still tasted good. Overall I think I'd rather try Coffee House Cafe for brunch, and maybe just coffee, lunch just didn't seem worth the price.

My friend lives really close to this place, and we wanted to have a chill Saturday night so we headed over here for specialty coffee drinks and a late night snack. This place has very low lighting and a rich, dark wood decor that complements their coffee drinks. They also serve alcohol here as well as alcoholic coffee drinks. I ordered their Chocolate Hazelnut coffee from the bar. It had vanilla and espresso vodkas, creme de cocoa, and frangelico plus a LOT of whipped cream. I really enjoyed the drink - it was warm and creamy and not too sweet. I also ordered a side of sweet potato tots, which were quite tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. Our service was good, our waiter made a couple mistakes with our orders but corrected them immediately. It took some time to get our check, but they left us stay past their closing time, so no sweat. This place is also dog friendly, so bring your pups along to enjoy a meal or a spiked coffee!

I literally passed by this place a million times - I live(d) in the apartments behind this little place and had NO idea what I'd been missing. I got a coupon in the mail for BOGO dinner entrée and I had to visit. Looked dark but it was defintely open. I walked in and became immediately more relax. . It might have been the charming full service coffee bar or the cool dark decor that just made you want to breathe deep and R-E-L-A_X Our hostess was SO nice. Our waiter was hilarious and engaging. We ordered an appetizer of crab cakes (mild, but with sauce became the stuff of legends), and we each order the German schnitzel. Presentation of the meal was beautiful. All in all, this place is such a hidden treasure. They are big on using local foods and promoting local companies, which I adore! This would be a great place for a first date.

Atmosphere here when you first walk in is nice. I opted for outdoor seating which was clean and comfortable. Food is decent here but nothing exceptional, IMO. In addition, and the reason for the lower rating, is that their orange juice tasted tasted like tang. My overall is 3.5/5 but couldn't put in half points.

Care for a cup of coffee while you wait 30 min for a table? Don't sit at the bar; bartenders won't see you...I think you become invisible. Since your table is ready much quicker than the 30 minutes you were told and you just ordered coffee - should you wait for it at the bar or ask them to bring it to your table? I would wait for it, because when you ask the barista if they can bring it your table she'll simply tell you "We're busy, you'll get your coffee." When you go ask the hostess the same thing and she says it's "no problem" to bring to your table, what happens then? Oh, you'll have to ask at least 3 different people (at various times) if your coffee is coming....don't ask your waiter, because he has no clue. What's the time-frame to expect a fresh made mocha? I would prepare to wait around 30 minutes; they ship it directly from Columbia for each cup. At least that's when I got my mocha. Afraid your waiter forgot about you after he dropped off waters? Don't worry; the old ladies sitting at the booth next to you are also frustrated and hungry. When you get the waiters attention and tell him to please take the orders of the lovely old ladies next to you, does he come directly back over to your table to take your order? Or does he disappear? He vanishes! Amazing magical powers this one has. Does the coffee barista bring out a mocha (1 hour after your original order) because she had no idea you already received one? Yes Does the breakfast burrito you ordered look like the inside of a two year olds diaper? Yes Does said burrito that is smothered in charro beans and bean juice that is practically pouring off the plate, described as such on the menu? No....word for the word the description of the breakfast burrito says "scrambled eggs, charro beans, potatoes, onions, peppers & tomatoes topped with jalapeno jack cheese, with a side of chipotle-tomatillo sauce." Ooooooh....I was under the impression it was just topped with cheese....my bad. I totally should have gathered from that description that beans, juice...etc would be the main event. When you send the bean extravaganza back to hell and order a cheese omelet instead, how does that fare out? Surprisingly delicious and fluffy. Does the chipotle migas with chipotle hollandaise taste like chipotle? Not in the slightest, but scrambeled eggs with some veggies in a tortilla cup, definitely. Is the hollandaise plentiful or is it a light drizzle? Light drizzle, as to be expected....clearly hollandaise is meant to be a garnish at this place. Want an extra plate for your table so you can share food? Better hold your tongue. I asked 2 different people for a spare plate. Guess what? Never got it. See the waiter only 3 times during your amazing brunch experience even though the place is not that crowded and you tried to get his attention numerous times? Yes Do the baristas, hostesses and servers communicate as they should? It doesn't appear that way to me. Will you be back? Unclear. If it had been my first time, no way.

Omgsh this place was such a little jewel we found in north Dallas. Their patio for brunch is amazing. Plus they let you bring your pups there and give them a little bowl of water:) Latte- Ahhhhmazing. Beignets- super delicious. I shall try their lemon ricotta pancakes next time. Oh yes, and the boyfriend got the french press coffee and he said it was very good.

Contrary to some of the other reviews, I love this place! It is close to my house and I think the environment is very warm, cozy and inviting. I am always seated quickly and, at least when I have been there, the servers have come by often enough but not too much. It's a coffee house.....I go there to spend some TIME there. I don't need someone checking on me every 3 seconds. I guess it depends on what your expectations are. If you're in a rush, tell them up front, perhaps. It's not uncommon for people to go in there expecting to stay a while. I recently tried the signature latte in a sugar free version. I'm usually a cappuccino person, but I did like this. The french press and drip coffee is good as well. The lemon pancakes are very good and I also really enjoyed the pablano soup. Some of the flatbreads and items with cheese are a little overwhelming for my taste...too much, too heavy, too greasy/fattening. The burgers are great. I'm not a fan of really thin fries, but if you are, you'll love theirs. I've been meeting a lot of my friends here recently and have found it to be a great environment to enjoy some coffee in a great atmosphere. (I'm NOT a starbucks fan). All in all, Coffee House Cafe' is a great find for me and I wish there were more places like it in the Dallas area.

Best coffee shop/cafe in Far North Dallas! I was brought here for lunch last year, and it's become one of my favorite spots to relax with great food and coffee. I'm slowly working my way down the menu, and haven't had anything bad yet, breakfast, lunch and dinner. I work nearby, and have gotten my staff and supervisor addicted, too-it's our favorite spot to meet and unwind. I got to meet the owner Carrie yesterday to express my thanks. Love: free wi-fi and the red velvet cupcakes (they sell out fast).

I love this place. It's just over a mile from my house and my wife and I go up there for lunch and an occasional dinner. I especially like the turkey reuben sandwich with the yummy shoestring fries. Service is always prompt and delivered with a smile, and they welcome our Labrador on the patio.

Overall experience = 4.6532 stars Congrats to me for finding the best latte I've had SO FAR in Dallas. Of course my recent craze for finding the best coffee has yet to reach an end but I would say their house latte was "happy dance on the table" worthy. Now, I can't say that you, who is reading this review will have the same experience because the barista could have just had an "I want to make this latte the best latte ever" attitude when I ordered it... but hot damn, it was delicious! Want to come here to study? - I actually tried and enjoyed the cozy/urban atmosphere but if you're the type that is easily distracted, go hit the library instead. The place is quite dim and the music is too good to not sing along to... House latte, I will be coming back for you soon. Can't wait!

I've gone to lunch here twice recently with friends. The food was excellent both times; thats the reason I'm giving this place 4 stars; however, if I was just rating customer service I'd only give it 3 stars. They seriously need to work on their wait staff and timing. The first time I went over with 2 friends. We ordered the hummus and pita for our appetizer and we all had their chicken salad sandwich. One of us had hot tea, but it came out luke warm. One of us ordered a peach tea, and received a regular tea. Our meal was brought to us before our appetizer, and our waiter didn't check on us very regularly. They did make up for forgeting the appetizer by taking it off our ticket. The second time I went, the service was slow, especially for lunch. They brought our appetizer out first this time but it took a while. My friend asked for soup instead of fries, but they forgot and gave her fries. She did get her soup a few minutes later. Like I said, the food is wonderful, and if you have the patience for not so great service, it's a really nice place to grab some lunch. The patio is gorgeous, especially this time of year. The chicken salad is the best I've had in a while. They also make yummy sweet potato tots. They have alot of salads, sandwiches, and fish entrees to choose from. If they can pick up the service end this place will do really well. The poor service won't keep me from returning, but I probably wouldn't go if I was in a rush.

Im not relly sure why the ratings are so high for this place really. I went here because im from New Orleans and someone raved about the beignets, saying that they were like some of the ones that they had a cafe du monde. They also said that the coffee was really good too. This past Saturday i went in. I thought this must be a good place as it was packed and there was a wait to be seated, i sat at the bar because hell..i wanted some good beignets. I figure since the recipe for beignets is simple that this should be better than what i can make at home. BOY WAS I WRONG. 1st off The mix that they use is not for beignets at all. Those beignets have the texture of cheap sopapillas..as a matter of fact thats kinda what they tasted like but there was an after taste to them. It tasted like plastic. Not to mention the size; for 5 bucks i got about 4 beignets cut in half. They just arent good if you've had the real thing. Somoene told me that i was expecting too much for Dallas to have good beignets...i think they were right. The coffee was half froth half coffee and when i took my two bites of those terrible sopapillas i just wanted to leave and take my coffee. The bar guy pours it into a cup, a regular small coffee cup and i had half a cup. 4.05 for 3oz of coffee lol. So this place it's one of those places where the hype is better than the food and coffee. The atmosphere is kinda high on the pretentious scale.

The place itself is pretty cool. I like the atmosphere. I had the spinach mushroom omelet which was pretty damn good. The cappuccino was pretty tasty as well. My boyfriend had the french toast but said it was nothing noteworthy. All in all it was a good experience for the most part and we will probably come back when we are in the area.

Brunch here is nice and cozy...as long as you take a minute to get off your ipad. The sis and I split a crabcake benedict (sooo good!) and a challah french toast. I got the signature house latte with sugarfree syrup options but it was very sweet..and took away from what I'm told is "the best coffee in dallas". Next time, I'll get a more grown up, less frou-frou drink. Service was great and prices are pretty decent for a hoppin brunch place on a Saturday. about $17 for breakfast, coffee, tip.

Much MUCH better!! We returned this past Sunday for brunch after the owner read my 1st review & sent me a message offering to fix their flaws. I accepted. The hostesses this time were dressed for their appropriate jobs and the waiters working around the bar area immediately greeted us when my boyfriend and I sat down at a nearby table. We ordered a bloody mary and a small coffee but it never made it to us, although our waiter took care of it later. We waited for maybe 15 minutes until our buzzer went off and were seated. We originally had asked for a seat outside but the hostess basically shot that notion down and told us it would be a longer wait, which we didn't mind and already knew, but she insisted that we take the table she had prepared for us already. Ok, whatever, not going to argue... Our waiter was Carleesi (sp?) - you should really ask to be in his section next time you eat here - and he was personable and attentive! We were fortunate to have him as our waiter this time around. He knew the menu well and impressed us with his coffee knowledge! Immediately after sitting down, I told him I was using a gift certificate that I didn't print out and he said that it wasn't a problem! We ordered our food, it was really good (their burrito was massive, btw!) and he brought our check. When we left, I had forgotten my leftovers and Carleesi was kind enough to chase me outside to hand me my food!! Now, why can't service be like this ALL the time??

All I can say is AMAZING! The coffee, especially turned Irish, is great and the food was wonderful. Our server,Josh, was the best service I have had in a long time. The atmosphere is very easy going and relaxed. Will definitely be back for brunch!

This place is getting pretty packed on Sunday mornings! The food is good, but the seating and noise level, and extremely long wait for a table or for food is not really worth it. The pancakes are good, and the omelets are good, but like I said, the screaming, running children, the uncomfortably cold atmosphere, the slooooowwww service, and the very very long wait is what drove me away.

The Good The place is pretty cute and I liked the live music. The Bad Literally everything else. The most annoying thing was the "happy hour" deal of $2.50 domestic beers. I even asked prior to ordering if all domestic beers applied and the waiter indicated that they did. So I ordered a Fat Tire. Well when the bill comes around They charged me full price. When I asked why, the waiter said he would ask the manager. It seems the definition of "domestic" was mass produced beers etc so craft brews didn't apply. Not to big a deal in and of itself. Though everything else was just mediocre at best. My food was bland and my Wife didn't have too many good things to say. Last but not least the waiter brought out the check before asking if we wanted desert (which we did) and didn't ask if our large party wanted to split the ticket.

If you arrive, and the building is on fire: don't panic. Be sure to get out and say hello. Chances are within moments you will offered free cake balls and pastries. These are delicious, and you should not refuse. I did not see any mimosa trays circulating, but that would be a nice touch (maybe next time?). Be sure to park in a good spot. It's possible that fire trucks may block you in your spot. If the building is not on fire, you should probably go in. I did not get to sample the breakfast flat bread, that had caught my eye on the website. If you have it, please let me know how it is. In the case of the fire, I felt that the service (and free goodies) was impeccable, and that cake ball... wow! I had the white one with cinnamon on top, and some kind of spice cake inside. That was delicious. The service, and that cake ball, guarantee that I will be coming back.

I really enjoy their signature latte but I have yet to have any luck with their food items. Is there anything worse than a subpar breakfast? Probably--yes, there definitely is--but a proper breakfast is important! The lemon ricotta pancakes were particularly awful in my opinion, but perhaps it's just my palate. Generally the service here is good and the waiters are friendly. Do. Not. Sit. Near. The. Bar. You will likely be forgotten about or receive the incorrect order MULTIPLE times!

Third visit (my first two experiences are below): I am editing my review to add my third experience from last night, only because all three were different. We went to Coffee House on Thurs evening around 9:15, excited because they are open till 10 and had live music. As soon as we entered a lovely young lady behind the bar smiled from a distance and said hello and then quickly approached me and grabbed a menu. Lovely person to have greeting customers! I asked for a seat where we could see the live performer who was singing and playing guitar beautifully. Fantastic ambiance and very relaxing to end the evening. Server was pleasant (tho not as warm as the young lady who initially greeted us) and thorough. I tried something new and didnt like it...but I knew that was a possibility. The presentation, however, was lovely. My daughter's order was hot, fresh, and yummy. Only complaint, I ordered a decaf house latte that was delivered luke warm...who wants a barely warm latte. Got to me quickly, but they must not have heated the milk to the proper temp...which is a big no no when making a latte. Foam on top was messily done...as I have heard they normally take great care in making sure their lattes are well done. Oh well, I wasnt in the mood to send it back, just wanted a calm, soothing evening. It was obvious they were doing their closing duties...which come to think of it, shouldnt be obvious while you are eating at an establishment even if it is later in evening imho. But, has to be done and folks do want to go home at some point, so I understand. We will return again, but I will be sure to ask them prior to getting a latte to take extra care. _____________________________ I am amending my first review (below) since we returned to Coffee House last week and had a great experience. Melissa was our waitress...as lovely as can be. We were encouraged to return by the owner after she saw our initial review, and I am glad we gave it another go. The Cobb Salad was fantastic, and the presentation was wonderful. My daughter had a tasty and well-made sandwich, with plenty to take home. The basic cup of coffee was great, and I am a huge coffee lover. The shrimp cocktail was delicious. The ambiance is warm and comfortable, and Melissa definitely made it a worthwhile dining experience. We saw so many items on the menu that we just have to try! So, needless to say, we will be returning and asking for Melissa again soon :) _____________________________ First Review: I live in the area, and we eat out once to twice per day...so typically every single day. I spend a lot on eating out, I know, but I prefer not to cook. Walked in about 3 in the afternoon today. Several people who work there behind and around the square bar area looked up and saw us, but not a single one smiled, greeted us (even a hello from a distance) or approached us. So we waited. Standing next to us was a young lady who appeared to be waiting also. I asked her if we needed to wait to be seated, and she replied that she was waiting to see a manager. An employee told the lady standing near us, from a distance, that someone would be with her shortly. No one acknowledge us at all though, that is, until we finally decided to just leave and I held the door open a moment to look back. Apparently their service issues still exist.

Fantastic coffee house in North Dallas... This new startup location has the best coffee in Dallas hands down! They are new and still getting a few kinks worked out but the staff is super awesome and friendly. If you like cold coffee the cold Japanese cold brew is really outstanding. Try an iced coffee with Hazelnut and cream... a winner for sure! Again the signature cold brew is off the chart. If you have time also order some of the fresh made Beignets and you are in for an awesome treat! I have yet to sample the full assortment of food but everything looks quite tasty!

Initially my co-workers and I wanted to eat at Mad Tavern right across the street. But they were running 20 mins late and we were on our lunch break so we decided to try this place out since none of us have been there. Hostess and our waiter was very nice. But our food came out very late and we sat for an extra 5 mins for one chicken caesar salad to come out. Our waiter did give us an unexpected 10% off which was very nice. I had a wedge salad and a cup of tomato basil soup. It was fine but I've had better else where and probably for less price. Since there were 7 of us, gratuity was included in our bills. For the salad, soup, and a glass of water, the total of my bill was $12.80 (this included the 10% off). It's a little pricey for me for lunch but I would like to come back and try some other items some other time. Oh, I do have to say that their little shoe string french fries were yummy and the presentation of the food was very appetizing.

I used to really love this place when it first opened (I would have rated it 5 stars). Prices were fair, ambience was great (still is), service was good, and food/coffee was excellent. I would go every weekend as something fun to do. Then the inevitable occured. Service went downhill, prices went up, french pressed coffee still had coffee grinds in it (happened 3x in a row to which the staff said 'oh that's how it's supposed to be'). Uhhh...No, it's not. If you want a great french pressed coffee, go to Trulucks on Beltline or The Four Seasons in Maui. Ok - that's a bad comparison so go to Buon Giorno in Forth Worth or Grapevine instead. I'd love to find a good coffee shop closer to Addison.

I am a little disappointed with The Coffee House. I get that it is a coffee house and that you shouldn't be in a hurry if you come here, but seriously there are just as many hostesses as waiters working, and they constantly seem short handed in the kitchen. We have been 3 times now and there is ALWAYS a problem with our order. They "dropped" my wife's fries this last time, and we had to send my son's food back. I mentioned hey, I am half way finished and my son's food hasn't made its way back (despite the fact that I see other tables being served) He had ordered the sliders hamburgers without cheese and it came with cheese ... it can't take more than 10 minutes to make a new pair of hamburgers. I get finished, and we decided to go to Sonic for my son's hamburger. We wait five minutes, then my son and I leave while my wife pays the bill ... My son's Sonic burger showed up the same time as my wife did from paying the bill, AND the slider burgers had still not been finished ... so I guess instead of expediting the messed up meal they just put it at the end of the que. Not very smart restaurant sense. Still for a coffee house it is really good, the servers are always very friendly and are really good. I would just recommend that you take care of your appetite somewhere else unless you like to have someone at your table watching you eat.

Every time I have been here, the food has been excellent. So, just on food, I would give it 5 stars. However, the service has always been absolutely horrendous. So, if you want great food and don't care about long periods of being ignored by the wait staff, this is the place for you.

So after 3 years- we finally gave this place a try. The hostessess and seating has improved....a little. It was a busy Saturday morning. We put our name on the list. We waited. Random people were getting seated. People were checking on their spot on the list. Anyhow- at least they took our name this time. We waited about 20 minutes and then decided to sit outside. It was a little chilly- but nothing a good cup of coffee can't mend. Once we got seated- the manager set up our table and did apologize for the wait, Our server was nice. I had the signature latte and the breakfast flatbread. It was delish! My huband had the eggs on top of the hash benedict thing. However, it wasnt really a benedict because the eggs were on top of the sausage hash and not a muffin. But anyway- it was good. My kids tried the gluten free pancakes. They were delish! For kids that hardly ever eat pancakes- they ate every bite! Fresh food. Decent Service. I'll definitely be back to try dinner.

First let me say I'm a regular customer. "Why?" you might ask. "Why go back time and time again for a two star experience?" Well, Coffee House is a mixed bag. It could be a 5-star visit, it could be a 1-star visit. That's the conundrum... The decor is what we noticed first about this place and really is enjoyable. Part trendy, part laid back. The art on the wall is actually silhouettes of latte swirls. The bar is typically where we sit and it is comfortable and not crowded. I'm a native Austinite and I know cool... this place is cool in my book. The food is excellent. We only eat brunch there since it's our Saturday morning hangout. The benedicts are ALL good. The shrimp and grits are terrific. Do try the lemon ricotta pancake at least once. The Farmhouse is really the best breakfast dish you can order around these parts. And so on...and so on...and so on. The menu is well developed, the food is remarkably consistent and the cooks in the kitchen deserve better. "Better than what?" you might ask. The cooks deserve better service. The chef deserves better service. The dishwasher, busboys, garbage man, accountant, attorney and owner deserve better service. The paying customers deserve better service. Can i get an Amen? Holy smokes the service is TERRIBLE! Absolutely TERRIBLE. it's like Dick's Last Resort...but no one told the customers that it's all an act. You've read the reviews. With one exception (mentioned below), the waitstaff is horribly incompetent and untrained in the finer arts of listening to orders and bringing those same orders to people that want to eat. Other than that...stellar. The service sticks out like a sore thumb and I'm not sure why. From the incredibly sweet and In-over-her-head hostess to the waitress that flirts with every guy like a meth-head trying to score a hit...they all need to hit the bricks. The guy behind the bar with the hipster glasses (Josh?) deserves his own nomination for "Worst of Dallas". It's almost comical how he complains about every single French Press order...like someone ordered a terrible complex order ten minutes before closing...it's called Coffee House!!!...hit the bricks homey. If you think all the customers sitting behind you want to hear you bitch and moan while taking no orders and helping no one else pity you...well they don't. I'm at the point that I actually hope your parents own this place...otherwise your continued employment makes no sense in a free market economy. I guess the economy is better than I thought and good help is hard to find... On a positive note: Dear Owner, whatever you are paying Carlos is not enough. He greets people when they sit down. He remembers their name. He is appropriately complementary with the ladies and wisecracking with the guys. He takes orders (correctly) and actually makes sure people got what they ordered. He makes damn good lattes, bloody marys, mimosas and actually asks if you'd like cream and sugar with your coffee. Get this dear owner, he actually offers a glass of ice water if you order an alcoholic drink...so obviously he's been part of a functioning waitstaff before. Hallelujah! No joke, I've written "Thanks for rescuing breakfast Carlos!" "You really saved her this time Carlos!" and "Carlos, why are they making you do all the work!" on my tip receipt. Carlos, if you in fact own the place...I take everything back. You're a dumba$$ and need to fire yourself and hire a better waitstaff. Go there and find out for yourself people. Just make sure and ask for Carlos.

Wanted to give this place a try but the hostess was busy arguing with another customer. She finally told us it was an hour wait and to come back early in the morning or after 2. Thanks for giving me the option to wait.

I came in with a coupon for free latte and beignets. I sat at the bar and the workers were attentive and served well. The latte and the beignets were good, but I couldn't finish the beignets so I took the rest to-go. I also ordered their sweet potato tater tots to-go and that was delicious. I like the atmosphere because on one side it has the bar and the other side has the tables. I would definitely suggest to others to try here rather they want some brunch, lunch, coffee, mixed drinks, wine, or beer!

We have been waiting for this place to open and looked forward to dining here. Unfortunately, on a recent Friday morning when we attempted try out the food we waited at a table for 15 minutes after we were seated and never even had a waiter come by to take a drink order. It wan't that busy, so there was really no excuse for this kind of service.

I love this place, great food and inspired service. Neither of which is easy to find around here.. Two complaints about their online presence: 1. Nothing pisses off customers who want to check the menu online than leaving off the prices. It's a real turnoff. Like, why? It is key information that your customers want if they are bothering to look at the menu. 2. Get someone to do some SEO for you. I couldn't find the restaurant's Website. I went to yelp hoping to find a menu there and then the restaurant's Website was posted in yelp. That's just silly. If I search "coffee house cafe dallas tx" there is no reason you shouldn't be at the top of the list. Don't be cheap on this. Get it done. It's important for your business.

I have been passing this place for months now wondering what was inside the great looking exterior. When I walked up I was pleasantly surprised that they had a huge shaded patio that was dog friendly! Didn't bring my little one with my but he and I will definitely be going back for a visit. My friend and I had both never been and our server (and also the server in the section near us) were VERY helpful with suggestions. I got the challa french toast - AMAZING! I love french toast and this was the best I've ever had. I also ordered a side of the breakfast potatoes and all I can say is there must be something in their food. I could go back for either item seperately or together and be equally pleased. The atmosphere was so nice and for me and my friend who were catching up we weren't rushed and the servers all took great care of us even after the plates were taken away. I can't leave out their coffee drinks. We had the house mocha (medium was perfect size) and it was amazing. I am a coffee junkie and this more than passed my test. So glad I finally know what is inside, I will not just be passing by anymore!

The only good thing I can say about my first experience at this restaurant for lunch yesterday is the decor is lovely and Beth, the manager on duty genuinely tried to salvage the experience but by that time it was impossible. Let's just say that the service was non existent but to be fair I have no idea what is going on or not in the kitchen. All of the waiters appear to be in a kinetic frenzy. The place was busy but not anymore so than any other popular eattery at lunch. We ordered chips/ salsa/ guac, fish tacos and a turkey rueben. 35 min later no chips and salsa or guac. We asked sevral times where are the chips as we were STARVING. Our waiter would just say I'll check but not reurn with an answer until the 3 rd time he told us the chips were freshly prepared and they did not have anymore tortillas so no chips. To back up when we ordered the fish tacos I asked what was on he taco. I was told lettuce, fish and sauce. I could read that. I informed the waiter that I was allergic to pistachios and mangos and to please let the kitchen know not to prepare my fish near the pistachios as they also have on the menu a pistachio crusted tilapia. Our waiter returned and said the pistachio crusted tilapia was also used in the fish tacos. I was a bit doubtful of this as that wasnt meyntioned on the menu but at this point I jyst wanted some food- how long could a burger take? Later I was told by Beth the tilapia on the tacos is not pistachio crusted. Anyway I opted for a hamburger. We finally got our meal maybe 45-50 minutes later and it definitely wasn't worth the wait. We were starving by this time and ate what we could however the hamburger meat tasted off and the turkey rueben was pathetic. Maybe 3-4 slices of lunchmeat turkey, very little discernable kraut on day old dried out bread. This place is a joke. Fortunately, we didn't have to pay for the food. Also, the menu has some interestng items on it but appears to be incomplete lacking.

My husband and I have been going to Coffee House since it opened. I will admit in the early days, service was a little hard to come by, however within the past year it has steadily improved. We have been there approx 3 times this summer and the food as well as service have been excellent! Lattes are just right, food is delicious, and the service is the best it has ever been.

I ADORE THE PLACE! TOP REASONS: Ambience, vibe, ORGANIC COFFEE AND FOOD OPTIONS! This is a hugeeeee deal for me. I am sensitive to pesticides and all the crap they do to the food sources, so for them to have organic, they won my heart lol. When I FIRST went into this place, I was BLOWN AWAY by the positive atmosphere. I'm very big on energy and the way I FEEL when I first walk inside a place. The little things are what I fall in love with. Outside, they have white lights (like the Christmas lights) that create an ambience I love. It is very clean and beautiful inside. Cozy! And they have a gorgeous outdoor area. The lighting rocks too. And omg, they have delicious adult beverage coffee options. The service is INCREDIBLE. They remember you and treat you very well. They quickly refill your coffee while sitting there thinking about what you want (they pay close attention to your cup). They treat you the same whether you're buying a small coffee or an entire meal. I remember driving past MANY Starbucks to go here. I highly suggest this awesome gem to anyone who wants TRUE QUALITY and local. I hope you support this place because whoever owns this place actually cares about you and your health. Smart smart owner.

My absolute favorite place in Dallas! I was an "early adopter" of the wonderful Coffee House Cafe. Not long after its opening, I started dropping in for breakfast and coffee on Saturday mornings and an occasional weeknight dinner with friends/family. I would eat at the bar by myself most times on the weekends and loved striking up conversations with other patrons or the staff. I tell people all the time that CHC's coffee is the only coffee that I can drink black. I'm all about extra flavors and heavy cream in my coffee, but the coffee is so good, you don't want to tarnish it with the extras. The food is AMAZING. I can't say a bad thing about the menu. No joke. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner - you will not be unhappy with a single thing. (The lemon ricotta pancakes! The chicken salad sandwich! The beef tips!) The only potentially negative thing that comes to mind is the portion size on the eggs benedict; it could use an extra little bit of something to make the serving just right. (My memory could be biased, though - I was 38 weeks pregnant when I had it!) Now, the truth: this place is too popular now! I know, I know, that's a weird thing to say when you really want a great place to succeed. The owners and staff are great people, I want the place to do well BUT...I haven't been able to go once in the last 6 months or more when I didn't have to wait 20 minutes or longer for a seat. The place is overrun with people who love it just as much as I do. The wait is worth it; twice now, I've been in a party of 13 with 4-5 kids and the staff does an excellent job. I can't rate it negatively for being popular, though. I will just hold out hope for the day that I can walk in (now with my husband and little guy) and get a seat at the bar like the good ol' days.

I have to say, I generally like this place... I've been here a few times now and have been able to try out a couple of different dishes -- my food has never been disappointing and the house latte is delicious. (Get it iced!) I'm only knocking off a star for service... I've had very competent servers and some very confused ones. A few tips: 1. As other people have mentioned, WATCH WHERE YOU PARK. They're not kidding about this. 2. They do not take reservations, but they do take "call-aheads," which is great for me since I live close by. It cut down our wait significantly. 3. Be aware that although there are fans on the patio, the enclosed area still gets pretty hot. Stay inside if you don't want to sweat into your scrambled eggs.

I really do like this place. It has a good venue and vibe to it. The coffee is delicious and is served in big cups so you get plenty with one cup. The service was attentive I thought and I didn't have a problem with asking for water or more coffee etc. I love their migas. They are really yummy. The eggs you can't go wrong with and the portions are enough to where you aren't gonna explode after the meal. I cannot recall all their dishes but the omelettes are solid, their pancakes are fluffy and delicious too. As for the sides, my only advice is to get the grits! They are so good and cheesy. ~Carpe Diem~

I used to live really close to Coffee House and was for some reason really hesitant to try it for the longest time. And then winter came around and I decided to give their lattes a try. Ever since then, whenever I'm around the area, I try and stop by. The outside patio area is gorgeous with plenty of places to sit and cozy up next to the giant outdoor fireplace. The inside is nice and dark and is always full of energy. Since they are also a restaurant (mainly breakfast and lunch items) it was nice to see that they had put in a drive through for those of us who would just like a delicious caffeinated beverage to go without having to find a spot in their crazy parking lot. I am by no means a coffee expert (I'm more of a tea snob!) but I loved how their coffees have lower acidity so it doesn't have that almost sour taste that a lot of other places have. I usually enjoy simple drinks, regular coffee, iced coffee and maybe a latte once in a blue moon on a cold day, but I must say that I can truly taste a difference between their coffee and elsewhere. It also seems like every time I pass by this place it's growing. I want to say when they first opened it only served breakfast. And then they added lunch/dinner and now a drive through. I did have their crab cakes once for lunch and remembered them being quite enjoyable. But I'll have to revisit to try some of the other menus.

The wife and I have this thing going lately where we want to visit a new restaurant for Saturday brunch. So we decided to hit this joint up based on the recommendation of a yelper. My first impression is that its in a nice location off Preston, and the interior of the restaurant was nice as well as the staff. We opted to sit in the patio area to take in nice nice weather, even though it got hot later on... but that's okay. The waiter was friendly and nice. He took our drink order, mimosas, which were good. The wife ordered some type hash and I order the steak and eggs. The only reason I give this thee stars is because the food wasn't really impressive. The steak was actually done as a chicken fried steak using filet mignon steak meat. The reason I didn't like it was because the beef slices were paper thin so I tasted mainly batter and not much meat. Was kinda disappointed with that. However, that being said, the beignets were wonderful. We enjoyed having them and I hope they keep them on the menu because its the only place we know that makes them like traditional beignets we get in Louisiana. Overall, we had a good time and would go to this place again.... for the beignets and coffee.

I came here for an early lunch (11ish). Its a cozy little place. Theres a bar upon walking in and tables off to each side. We were sat to the left in the dining area. Our waiter had an interesting personality. He was a little spacey but incredibly nice. I was craving breakfast food so I ordered the migas. I half expected them to be heavy and dripping in sauce. It was light and the sauce came on the side. It had an ok flavor. It was a little bland without the salsa and chipotle sauce added to it. The person with me ordered the mushroom and spinach omelet with ham added. I of course stole a bite. It was good but cooked heavily in butter so it had a greasy texture. As a whole the food was good. My only complaint was the coffee. Mine tasted a bit burnt. But overall a decent place Note: if you're in a hurry I wouldn't suggest coming here. The service is very slow and they don't always get the order right if it doesn't mirror the menu exactly.

Their house latte is pretty damn good. I'd have another one of those, even with the size of the cup at $3.70. When you walk in, it's a cozy , slightly higher class-looking diner-style restaurant. There is a section of the restaurant with a fireplace. We were not seated there. Service is friendly. The food is also a couple steps up from a diner. They have a lot of breakfast foods that I believe are served all day. I got the Crabs Benedict which was good except that I had something...weird and crunchy my first bite in. I'm not sure if it was the egg shell or the crab. I don't really want to know. I did end up eating and finishing the rest of my dish. It was put on top of Challah bread instead of a biscuit or English muffin which I really enjoyed. That part saved the dish. Also the eggs were cooked nicely. Their home fries are also good. And it's close to home. :)

I'm an adventurous eater, but my husband is pretty picky. We both love this place. Their coffee is spot on. I buy their beans sometimes and make my own espresso at home. It's pretty good stuff, and very convenient to buy when we're eating there. Their drive thru is also great. Really friendly staff working the window. The chocolate croissant is a must in the drive thru. I haven't tried a single thing I didn't like. Their burgers are good. Fries are nice and crispy. Buttermilk pancakes and the Lemon ricotta pancakes are delicious. The crab cake Benedict is a tasty brunch item. LOVE the French toast sandwich day or night. Sometimes it's just nice to come here and share the beignets and a latte with my husband. Also love the variety of seating. You have the typical restaurant seating. They have a nice little "seat yourself" area by the bar which is great for working or studying. The patio is a must on a nice day.

Stopped in for breakfast today and ordered the challah French toast. Oh boy was it good! I'll be back for this dish again. The drip coffee was nice and string. Just the way I like it. All the servers were friendly and I like the homey atmosphere of thus place, especially compared to all of the national chaob restaurant s nearby with their "manufactured" style interiors The music was great day too. Cool music for a cool place.

Busy for brunch, but that is to be expected on a Saturday morning. Otherwise, the food was outstanding! And great service as well...well worth the wait!

I've given Coffee House Cafe about four or five tries. Only once was service good. On my most recent trip, the my waiter dropped off coffee and drinks and didn't return to take my order for over 10 minutes. During the wait, I got up to wash my hands and I noticed our non-attentive waiter standing at the coffee bar texting on his phone. This one is on management; employees shouldn't be on their phone while on the clock. Yada yada. In my opinion, service in consistently poor, parking can be a hassle and food/coffee is pretty good. I can find good coffee and food with great service in plenty of locations nearby.

I recently found out about Coffee House Cafe and have been here twice now. The first time I came in I ordered dinner and dessert and the second time was dessert only. My first trip I ordered the ham and cheese sandwich (it's grilled!) and a cup of the tomato basil soup. My sandwich was delicious, nice and hot with the cheese all melts and gooey...the perfect comfort food on a rainy day. The soup was also delicious! I would definitely come back and order a bowl of the tomato basil for my entire meal. My friend had a bowl of the tomato basil soup and an order of French fries. The fries were good, thinly sliced and very crisp. No seasoning, it would be nice to have that option. For dessert I ordered an Irish Coffee along with some beignets and my friend ordered the Mint Chocolate and the chocolate brownie. The beignets here taste amazing! They are served hot and fresh with lots of powdered sugar!! It would be even better if there was an option to order sauce with them (chocolate, caramel, etc.). My Irish Coffee was hot and had plenty of whipped cream, it was also good. It was smooth and pleasant, not too strong or too weak. My friend said her Mint Chocolate was also well made and her chocolate brownie was delicious! My second trip here I ordered a Chocolate Hazelnut and my friend ordered an Irish Coffee. Then we split an order of beignets. My Chocolate Hazelnut was again smooth and easy to drink and my friend liked her Irish Coffee. The beignets were again served hot and fresh (with even more powdered sugar this time!). To top it all off, both times I've been here the staff has been friendly and attentive. I will definitely be coming back!

Great food and the best iced coffee we've had. Came here for the beignets, which were good, but outshined by the other food we had. Been here twice on visits to Dallas and both times were served by Allie, who gave us outstanding service. Fast and friendly with great suggestions.

Meh is really the only way to describe this place. We came here expecting a coffee house and instead found a diner in a former fast food restaurant. The coffee drinks were disappointing, the table a little dirty. I don't think I'll be back.

Tried this place out for the first time today. We stuck to the brunch menu. Hubby ordered the migas, I ordered the veggie omelet and the house latte, and the kiddo had the buttermilk pancakes with choc chips. My omelet was okay. Nothing spectacular. Hubby's migas was also just okay. Kiddos pancakes were really good and my coffee was amazing! If we ever go back, I won't be ordering any of their egg dishes.

Breakfast is served all day. And they have this thing called a Challa French Toast Breakfast Sandwich that is just so unreal good, it must have been the last piece of Chumetz Jesus had before Passover started and we saw him in that famous Last Supper photograph. Anyway, Breakfast is served all day. And they have a drive through. I still don't know why. Boom. Four stars.

Short: This is a nice place to go for a cup of coffee, some light breakfast or a pastry most times of day. It caters mostly to the immediate surroundings and businesses, so prices are a little higher than they should be. I enjoy it most of the time, I wouldn't eat here every day. Long: When I worked across the street I would come here a lot. It's on the same corner with a gas station, a departed nice italian restaurant-cum-bar in its afterlife and a less than average chaat restaurant. This place fully embraces the perspective that people want breakfast all the time. It's the only reason I usually go there. The portions are okay, even if prices are a little on the high side, and the quality is frequently good. Service is fair to midland, seems to be emulating greasy spoon to some degree, a bit aloof but friendly enough. Nothing really notable, and parking won't be a problem until someone purchases the out of business sonic next door to it. P.s. The tea is great. I really enjoy it. It's a really nice pick me up. Maybe not a reason to occupy a table, but definitely tasty and hits the right buttons.

This is by far my favorite breakfast/brunch spot in North Dallas. Their french toast is amazing, burgers are tasty, salads hit the spot every time. Their rosemary potatoes are always the best option.Inside is dark, but welcoming and cozy. The patio is perfect for a sunny day, lots and lots of shade while still being able to enjoy the outdoors. just such a great experience here every time.

Checked this place out tonight. The service was good. She did a great job and is a sweet lady. The environment was pretty cool and they had some live music going on in the bar area. The coffee looks amazing but didn't get any because we came for dinner. Tried the steak and eggs and my wife had pancakes. The steak and eggs were not my favorite, I would not order them again. Seems like some people on here like them but it wasn't my thing. It comes breaded and it was too much breading and too little meat. My wife said the pancakes were good but mentioned pancakes are pretty simple and she likes them from anywhere. We will be back for sure but I'll be trying some of the other stuff on the menu.

This place has a nice breakfast and is local to us. PROS: have never had an "off meal", their food quality has been good on all occasions. Their lattes are fabulous, but certainly a treat item (I don't even want to know how much sugar per serving!) CONS: the middle room and bar have a nice ambience, but the front room is totally off. I feel like we're being punished when seated there (we've started declining that room). The room is dark, no character, and feels empty & cold. I'm not sure if they're leaving it open for large parties, but some booths, lighting, and decor would go a long way.

I love this place. The food is always solid and that house latte is the stuff this coffee lover dreams of. My one complaint is that the wait staff generally suck. I've had non-existent waiters, hating life waitresses, and waitstaff that seem clueless that an empty glass should be filled without me asking, much less twice. So plan to be there a while to work around them and just focus on that amazing French toast sandwich. You will go back for it, despite the service. I promise.

Love everything about this place. Inviting name. The interior has a cool, poetry-like feel to it. The food is amazing! Husband and I mainly come here for the breakfast. Generous portions, decently priced, creative menu. Love the lemon ricotta pancakes! Service is acceptable. The only downside is the drive-thru hours and the limited drive-thru menu. Overall, great, cozy restaurant.

Not much to say... I really like their decor and that they freshly squeeze their juices however a lot of the dishes lack flavor (like the omlettes). The coffee here is much too sweet but I suppose that's just a preference thing. I look kinda young so they treated me like I was a five-year old. Service for me here is on and off. There's almost never a hostess to seat you when I come.

Visited Coffee House Cafe the other weekend with my friend, and was impressed with the quality of the food. I had their House Benedict, which was prepared well and tasty-though honestly, it's hard for benedict not to be great, right?! My friend ordered their Lemon Ricotta Pancakes which were so tasty and unique-she was visiting me from Chicago, the land of great food on every corner, and I think she was impressed! I liked their large bar when you first walk in-seems like a great place to work or study. I'll definitely be back with the hubby...we live nearby and I'm psyched to have a tasty, and unique, place to go for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

We've been here the last two days for breakfast! The breakfast burrito is amazing so is Fred's flatbread! Today we had the buckwheat pancakes and they are to die for!!!! The house latte is a must too! Fred was a great server! Will be back again!

Looking for a coffee house to hang at? This is more of a sit down and go place, not a place to linger. I came to meet a friend on Wednesday night to have dinner, coffee, and chit chat. We were seated immediately. I ordered the house latte, which was pretty to photograph, however lukewarm and you'll have had better elsewhere. We got the Dip Duo-- the guacamole was under-seasoned and the salsa was eh. The hummus wasn't fantastic, but better than the Duo. Thinking about the beignets? I'd skip. They are tasteless and not fluffy. Reminder-- this isn't a New Orleans-themed cafe, so that should have been our first clue. The three stars are due to the food/drinks and how quick they tried to rush us out. Service was good, but not amazing as we did sit for some time without water refills. This was also a slow night with about 6 tables around the dining area being filled. Maybe I need to come for breakfast next time. We shall see.

The coffee house cafe is a really beautiful place with amazing coffee options. I do like to get drinks from starbucks but sometimes you just crave with a more complex flavor. I'm really addicted to their house latte. I wish I knew how to make it. It has a really rich sweet flavor that's addicting. Great food, great atmosphere, and AMAZING coffee :) if you haven't been you need too!

The food was delightful. Shrimp and grits and the French toast sandwich. Beyond good. The coffee was good, but not hot, just warm. The prices high--but worth it for the food. Not somewhere I would eat every day, just because of the price. Our server was the worst part of the meal. He brought me the French toast, instead of the sandwich I ordered, and then didn't rush the correct order out. So my husband was finished with his breakfast before I ever got mine. Then, not only did he not offer a discount, but he brought me a check with both the French toast and the French toast sandwich on it. I had to wait around on him several times and had to ask for my check. For these prices the service should have been much better. For the wait, my meal should have been comped. Too bad.

Great if you don't mind the wait...I'd suggest going during the week. This place is massive and it fills up on the weekends so get there early or prepare to wait patiently. Oh and while you're waiting don't anticipate being able to get a coffee or drink from the bar easily, they are swamped with orders because it's a tiny little bar with 3-4 people working it for a massive place. Coffee was decent, food was pretty good, and the menu has some cool items on it. It's worth a try but I stand by my comment to go during the week.

I tried this place for the first time yesterday, hoping I had found a new local coffee house. I ordered a medium iced vanilla latte and a bagel with cream cheese. They handed me an ivory white drink, and a bag through the drive thru window. On my way to work (abut 15 mins away) I tried their 'vanilla latte' and found it lacked any taste of coffee at all. I tasted like store bought vanilla creamer and milk mixed together. I didn't want straight black coffee, but I guess I just expected more than that. On to the bagel that I received in the shopping bag I was given, a bagel (uncut and looking quite squished) and a triangle of cream chesee. I was in a plastic to-go pack, litterally in the shape of a triangle. This was an extra 79 cents? Not trying to nit pick, but come on. The last thing I have to say is again in regards to the bagel. It was impossible to eat on the road, because it wasn't cut up and the cream cheese was in another zip code from it. So when I got to work and took it out to eat before clocking in, I found there was mold on it. Not a huge spot, maybe 2-3 millimeters, but it was a distasteful green. So into the trash that went, followed by my triangle of cream cheese and later my 'coffee' drink. At this point I am glad the bagel wasn't cut up, at least I didn't eat the mold. I won't be back. Worst $7 spent.

So I still love this place but I felt like something was a little off today. I ordered the breakfast sandwich(which was soggy and greasy) and my son got the kids pancakes (which he refused to eat because they were dry...even with syrup). Our waiter was OK. He served us. Usually the staff is a bit friendlier. The only reason I am giving four stars is past experiences were better so they get a little of a pass today. Oh by the way, a note to my waiter. I really don't like being told to have a "blessed" day. It doesn't sit well with me. Sorry.

Probably one of most mediocre experiences ever. The interior truly needs to be heavily cleaned. The staff are very nice and accommodating. The food is not that good at all. Very bland and old tasting the 4 times I went. Then I went with a few people and paid. About 3 weeks later I was looking at my bill and noticed a double charge of 100 plus dollars. I called and complained to the manager but he was busy. I understand but that call was made at 8am. I didn't hear from him. I called back the following day and asked to speak with them again. An assistant answered the phone and asked me to tell him what the problem was and he would relay it to the manager. I told him and didn't receive a call back. So I called again, this time escalating it to theft on my Amex and I would pursue other means if I didn't speak to the manager. Lo and behold he came to the phone. He said they had an issue with their POS system and because they didn't know which charge went through they just charged everyone again. Now I don't know about you but that's very wrong. So it's up to you you pick if you go, as for me, never again.

I've been here a few times now, and I can see why they're still open! The food is awesome! For a Coffee House, it's got a really good food selection. The coffee's are great too. The staff is extremely friendly. The only minus was the food was a little slow coming out on our second visit, which was at the end of lunch hour. Didn't really expect that. Since it's down the street from my house, I'll definitely be back!!

Very delish and lots of variety. My only complaint is the price, that was a little steep for breakfast but I understand that they use cage free eggs, organic this and that and all that other good stuff. You are paying for the quality food. Presentation is nice and I looooove the signature mocha. It was insanely busy on Sunday for brunch but you can call ahead. We waited for 10 minutes tops (we called ahead for a group of 12) the food came out pretty quick we were out of there within an hour. They also have gluten free options, which I love. Will be back for sure!

It was a nice and luckily little cold evening in Dallas which is a nice weather surprise in the month of August. I planned to take my wife for coffee somewhere so, I looked for places around me with a mindset, that definitely not a Starbucks as we both are little bored with it. I found this place on my google search with 4+ rating so decided to take my wife there. Man, the fire place was really a plus for the outdoor sitting for the cold evenings. We reached there at 7 and liked the place so much that we ended up having dinner here instead of coffee. We ordered 1. Signature flatbread 2. Tomato basil soup 3. Chicken Schnitzel 4. Grilled Brie Overall nice and calm place. Good food and nice staff. ****Kudos to coffee house cafe.**** I am just taking one star off, so that they do something more to outdoor sitting area and keep it arranged.

I have been here a few times and the service was always subpar. However, it was unacceptable on the most recent visit! We went for coffee after having lunch elsewhere and the staff did not seem to appreciate that. The waitress tried to get us out of there numerous times although it was off-peak hours and there was only one other table. She gave us our check when we were not even done drinking our coffee, then asked us if we were ready to pay just minutes after she dropped it off. I am giving 2 stars just for the fact that I like their Signature Latte. However, I am not so sure when or if I will return.

The food is always amazing!!! I have been there for breakfast several times and dinner once. Two of my favorite breakfast are the crab cakes Benedict and the breakfast burrito. Hands down, one of the best lattes and they put some much detail into the artwork/milk/foam on top. The only negative, hence 4stars, is the parking! We have driven away from there several times because you can find a parking spot. The restaurant next door has their name on way too many spots. If you go on a Saturday or Sunday, be prepared to wait....though the wait is worth it!!

Thank goodness for Yelp because I am greatly proud that I chose this place to eat. The place is cozy, the food was great, the server was great. What more can I say? Definitely a recommend to anyone who wants to try. If you're an omelette person then the spinach cheese omelette is so good! And the French toast is a must get.

Jam packed but that's okay. Service was average but food was rather tasty. I do feel it was a tad pricey for what it was but I will say the portions are generous. Their breakfast potatoes are very herbaceous so if you aren't of fan of that, just be aware. I really wanted to try the coffee but it was about 1000 degrees outside on the patio. :) Will def be back with some of my friends who appreciate a fancier brunch experience.

still thinking about it weeks later! we loved the heart in the mocha! french press was pretty great minus that i was almost left with a 2 minute timer of when to "press-it" which just felt awkward, so i politely declined...& then added that i was a french-press fanatic. the food was tasty. lemon-ricotta pancakes were light & fluffy. they seemed a little too delicate for the table syrup but needed just a hint of sweetness-so i requested honey and butter & hit perfection. the berries were a bit on the skimpy side (for the price tag). chicken-apple sausage hash benedict was good..just no bread...& a tiny more sauce would have been perfect. i guess i missed the part on the menu that hinted that it was sans bread cute server! & we were his first table out of training which was fun. really want to go back but live all the way on the other side of town. hopefully will make it over soon. seems like a great study spot!

I was very pleasantly surprised when this place turned out nothing like how I imagined it would be. No it is not a hole in the wall small cafe. It isn't a sterile space in the middle of a strip mall either. It's actually a really thoughtfully designed restaurant that resembles little of a cafe. The interior is lined with tables and booths for dining in house, and the only semblance it has to a cafe is the coffee bar at the entrance. On a Saturday morning, was a bustling place with fashionable people looking for a fancy brunch. The iced vanilla latte I got was pretty good. Not the best I've had. I got the chicken sausage hash, and it was pretty delicious. The portion size was on the smaller side, but was very filling and savory. The service was fast and friendly too. It's a little out of the way for me but if I were looking for a fun brunch place, I'd go there again.

This place has become a regular brunch destination for us. The breakfast burrito is really good and it's my go-to item. Make sure you get the potatoes, yum! They make a chipotle-hollandaise that is spot on good and their signature latte is good hot or iced. Service has definitely picked up, so no complaints there, given our last visit I might consider upgrading this to my 5* service list. The parking lot stinks, and makes it look like the place is packed full, however don't let fool you every time we've been we have expected a wait b/c we had a hard time finding parking but we were able to walk in and get a table.

I was really looking forward to trying this place since it seems to be very popular. The shrimp and grits were adequate but not anything I'm going to go back for. The salads my friends had looked much more promising and they enjoyed them. I'll try to make it back at some time when I'm in the rare mood for coffee (not a big coffee drinker) and see if I find something more appealing.

The Bears are always out foraging for breakfast on Saturday mornings, and we came across this place which had a sign indicating they served breakfast and coffee. Good enough. We pulled in to the parking lot, and headed for the front door. We were greeted promptly by the friendly hostess, and we were seated without delay. It was a busy morning, with most indoor seating occupied, including the bar. We noticed an outdoor patio area with plenty of additional seating, but it was still chilly enough to keep us inside that day. The coffee was served at just the right temperature, and was strong enough to be reasonably flavorful. Mrs. Bear had the Mocha, which took a long time to be served "because only one barrista was on duty" that day. Okay, one would suppose a "coffee place" would have that covered; but oh well. She said it was worth the wait. We ordered breakfast from the big menus, and sat back in eager anticipation of a yummy meal. We weren't disappointed - the food was good, and in generous (but not excessive) portions. I had the usual fare - scrambled eggs, sausage patties and fried potatoes, all tasty, warm, well-seasoned. Mrs. Bear had the breakfast hash, which she said was also good. Oh, and the beignets - OMG, heavenly, they were - could not get enough of them! As good or better than New Orleans, and that's sayin' a LOT! Although more research is in order, this place is now officially added to our fave breakfast joints list.

Went for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. A colleague suggested this place for lunch and RAVED the whole way there. This always makes me nervous because 1) it's awkward when someone is all like "OMG I'd give them my first child for a lifetime supply of breakfast burritos" and then you don't like it, and 2) can any place really be that good? I had the fish tacos. TASTY! Fish was lightly grilled, didn't seem heavy. Slaw was nice and crunchy. I would suggest getting the remoulade on the side. While it was good, they put quite a bit on and the flavor got a bit strong. Salsa was super tasty -- better than the remoulade in my opinion. Free order of beignets for first time four square check in. Made a great appetizer. Service was good. Definitely going back!

Had brunch there this past sunday. The wait wasn't bad, the food wasn't bad, the service wasn't bad. It's just missing that je ne suis pas... Wished the portions were a little more bountiful, the food a little less bland, and the mimosa a little more unlimited. $6 for a tiny glass of mimosa is ughhhhhh, crazy...

I have been coming here since it open, the food is great, restaurant is great but the service is inconsistent. I usually sit in the bar area and it's always understaffed. Its something management should be on top of, it's not the servers fault.

  • Steve E.

First let me say, they did the right thing and that's why I'm giving them two stars versus one. We waited over 45 minutes for our food, not a table, our food and then it was cold. We were also told several times our food was up next, which it wasn't to say the least. Obviously big problems in the kitchen. As I said they did the right thing and comped our meal.

I have tried this restaurant several times now. I won't go back anymore. While the place is 'cute' and much needed in this corner of far North Dallas, it's not worth an hour wait for a table, and a 20 minute wait for a cup of coffee. Hello.. Coffee House is the first name of this restaurant. The service is horrible and food marginal. While they tout organic, who cares? I had to beg for service and the manager is equally inept. So, if you want to try this restaurant, I advise against it... forgo the unfortunate experience and wait an hour for a fantastic breakfast at The Original Pancake House 15 minutes away. They are friendly and accommodating and the food is worth an hour wait. Too bad about the Coffee House Cafe. There have been other failures at this location before, and I'm sure this restaurant is soon to follow. The dinners are pretty tasteless too...

We are from out of town and a friend recommended this restaurant as one he visits frequently. As one who has been in hotel food and beverage management for longer than I care to admit: I am not picky or overly critical of places I visit to eat. It is only when I am highly impressed with a place that all the parts come together that I comment and the Coffee House Cafe is certainly doing this on all levels. It is always a positive beginning when you are greeted by someone that you are not sure if they are the owner due to an extremely pleasant attitude and brief proud note of the products, preparation and origin. He is as we were to learn the manager and clearly committed to the business. . The server who followed was equally accessible, professional and pleasant and continued to briefly mention other distinct factors continuing to differentiate their product from the competition. I commented on the unique design of the coffee cup and saucer. She replied that this was a signature item produced for this restaurant and upon completion of the coffee I could note their name on the bottom of the cup. The coffee (I prefer black when coffee is good) was some of the best I have had with a great finish .My wife's latte was the same and beautifully crafted. The breakfast items we had were excellent and presented in a simple yet elegant fashion. The outside ambiance was as the rest of the components clearly thought out in regard design to location and aesthetically delightful. When all of these factors come together in a restaurant at the highest levels; we consider this an experience.

This place has serious service issues that need fixing. Fast. My first couple of visits here were wonderful. Service was attentive and food was great. Since then, service has been dreadful. On our last visit, Sunday, 2/5 about noon, we left because our server was playing video games on his cell phone at our table! I've never seen anything like it. Prior to that, we waited and waited at the bar before we could even get anyone to acknowledge us. Twice I asked different bartenders for help and was ignored. We left and went to Deli News, where we got good service as always. On the previous visit, our server was having an issue with the table right next to us, and he proceeded to tell us how he treats customers that get upset with poor service--in a nutshell, he said he intentionally ignores or delays fulfillment of their requests. This is a nice place with much potential, but I would not recommend coming here until service issues have been resolved.

I've been here three times so far. The first time was right after they opened and the people were so kind and very interested in the customer's experience. The owner and chef both stopped by our table and the food was great. We had lobster bisque, sweet potato tator tots, and a few other things. The service was little slow but understandably slow since they just opened. The second time for some reason the menu had changed. I got the fish tacos this time and they were average, a little fishy for my taste but overall I've had worst. The service was still slow and there was no energy to the place. My friend and decided we wouldn't be coming back for awhile at least. And then the third time, we just had our Christmas lunch here. The catering food was not good at all - even the salad. We were also served some flat bread pizzas that hadn't been cooked all the way through. My friend and I picked at our food and then decided to get a cup of coffee and cupcake to go. The "Peppermint Mocha" is a joke. It's like drinking poorly filtered chocolate grounds. Luckily though the peppermint vanilla cupcake was a saving grace - it was delicious resembling a carrot cake or Italian cream cake. That almost made the 30 minutes we waited for coffee acceptable - okay, not really. 30 minutes? For coffee? I could have driven to Starbucks and back before they were done! Overall, I would skip unless you just want a muffin or cupcake. Hopefully they can turn things around; this are really needs a good breakfast / lunch place.

I am visiting from out of town and wanted to meet up with an old friend at not the usual coffee spot. Found this place through yelp. It was easy to find easy parking. I had called ahead to ask if they were one of thise places that is over air conditioned, I hate that but will bring sweater if necessary. The gyu on the phone was nice and said if it is too cold for you we will adjust the temp. You can sit outside in a covered area or inside in a cozy booth. Somewhat dark inside which is what I wanted. Greeted by a friendly hostess, sat quickly. NOToverly air conditioned yay! Super friendly wait staff. He recommended the signature latte but I did not want anything too sweet so I ordered a regular latte. It was delish! Good temp, too, which is key for me. Then my server brought me a complimentary side of a caramel shot so I could see for myself what their house latte was like. yum! My buddy showed up and we had lunch. I had the tomato basil soup which was great, like Le Madeline's. I wish they had a fresh loaf of bread as a side for it. My buddy had a turkey avocado bacon sandwich that he liked. Shoestring fries that were hot and delish. We also tried the beignets but wasn't into them, just because fried dough isn't my thing. I thought I would try them anyway. They took them off the bill right away. We took up this guy's table for over 2 hrs and he was totally cool with it, saying that they encourage people to come in and chill. I will def go here again. I liked the feel of the place, I needed something that wasn't the typical Starbucks. I appreciate the friendly staff, too. That goes a long way for me.

Maybe finally some consistency. After being at the coffee house mutiple times a week since they opened. Feeling as though the restaurant is a shot in the dark with service, food quality, and getting what you actually ordered either dining in or take out. I have the servers to rely on. I was so excited to see one of my favorite servers who've I've had for many years at another hang out of mine Josh. Melissa has also taken great care of us. I hope the owner can take note and really put this place on the right track all the time. There are some great food items on the menu. Maybe promote the good employees or have them share some of their great expertise. Having a good leader your loyal customers feel comfortable with and can rely on would make a real difference.

Okay. I am so torn. There are things about this place I *love*, but there are so many disappointing things I'm not even sure it's worth 3 stars. The signature latte is delicious. Great and not too expensive. The atmosphere in the coffee bar is quaint and pleasant. They even have live music. Brunch is tasty, for the most part-- but it's like every dish leaves something to be desired. The bartenders/baristas (I've only seen two different ones) are pleasant and good at making drinks. And, they have a drive through which is awesome. Now for the bad: The service other than the bartenders is abysmal. For the most part, they have little to no sense of urgency, they lack knowledge of the menu and beverages, and they just generally aren't good servers. That leads to their second major problem-- Saturdays and Sundays for brunch are their busy times, and they are always on a wait. I've been in multiple times and seen people's checks down for long periods of time, servers not taking orders quickly, and worst of all, huge areas of tables with no servers or slow servers waiting on them so they can't be seated. On top of that, they don't take togo orders on the weekends during brunch. That's annoying. Seriously. They're losing out on profit and I'm wasting my time waiting when I could just get a togo order. I just wish they'd get it together. Togo orders are not difficult-- I've worked in many restaurants. They've been around too long to not have worked out their restaurant kinks. Oh, and don't eat anything other than their brunch or pastries. Their lunch and dinner menus are not good. I haven't had anything off them I would ever order again. I haven't had everything, obviously, but I definitely expected more after having their brunch/coffee.

Everything on the menu is great at all hours, fresh and made to order with generous portions on everything. The only gripe I have with this place is the bad service; slow to do everything, to take your order, to refill the water, to bring the food, to bring the check... they didn't even bother stopping by to ask how the food was. The food was well worth the price, but the service was not. For a $15+ meal I would've expected someone to ask how we were doing, this was not a one time thing, but has happened every time I've been.

Let's start this by saying this isn't the comfy, hole in the wall mom-and-pop diner I expected. Instead it's the hipster, organic this, free range that, un-caged and gluten free diner. I've got tired-head already. What's sad is I was hoping from some good ol' biscuits and gravy, but they don't serve it. After passing by many times and noticing the packed parking lot I decided I needed to check this place out. I didn't bother to yelp it, and I wish I had, but oh well. As I mentioned this is a new age/organic diner. Everything is made from these "quality" ingredients. It's also priced through the freakin' roof. My 9 year old son and I ate breakfast here. He ate off the kids menu, I the adult fare. A two waters, a cup of organic coffee (which was ok), his plate (one silver dollar pancake, one piece of turkey bacon and two scrambled eggs), and my breakfast burrito totaled $22 with tip. Seriously?! $22 for breakfast? Ridiculous. My burrito was tasty, I'll give them that. My son enjoyed his breakfast. I was very unhappy with the bill. So if you're a new age food nut and don't mind the outrageous prices, you'll probably really like Coffee House Cafe. If you want a good breakfast and a decent value, eat elsewhere.

I was very excited to find the Coffee House Cafe. I try to only eat organic and healthy food and it is next to impossible when you are eating out. They serve organic as much as possible and locally grown which is wonderful. The breakfast was very good and the service was attentive. I will definitely be a regular and have told my friends and clients about it as well.

I expected a lot more from a place that was proclaimed the Best Suburban Coffee House for 2012, to say I was disappointed would be more than an understatement. This place is close to my house and I'd wanted this to be a place that I'd be returning to. Not gonna happen. I give it one star for atmosphere, the ambiance was great and I love that the dog-friendly patio has a fireplace. The dining experience itself left a lot to be desired. Yes, we were seated pretty quickly as it was fairly late and the place was pretty empty but it just went downhill from there. Our server, to her credit, showed up to take our order pretty quickly but that was the only thing she did right. My boyfriend and I were seated at a booth, sitting together as we always do. She plopped down in the booth across from us and introduced herself, and started chatting as if she'd known us for years. VERY unprofessional behavior. Number one, we are NOT BFFs but paying customers who expect a certain level of professionalism when we go to ANY dining establishment, we certainly didn't get that here. Number two, she made my boyfriend extremely uncomfortable with her overzealous and flirtatious behavior towards him. Number three, when we'd finished our meal and were ready for the check she was nowhere to be found, we had to have another server go track her down as they didn't know where she was either. As for the meal itself, I found it to be substandard and lacking in flavor, certainly nothing to write home about. I had the turkey and avocado panini and my boyfriend had the turkey rueben. They were both devoid of flavor and the turkey bacon on mine was the toughest I've ever had. We both had coffee from the bar, HUGE disappointment. Pretty poor quality for a place that calls itself a coffee house.

hmmm.... really wanted to like this place, but it's a bigger mess than Lady Gaga acting like Britney Spears on a meth bender. The wife read about this pace and said the magic words, "We have to go!" So, being the nice guy, took her earlier today. We showed up at about 10am and the lady said there would be an hour wait but that we could sit at the bar and have coffee and pastries if we wanted while we waited. No biggie, I've endured a lot more for my wife, so I'm just scoring points. We sit at the bar for about 10-15min and notice nobody is going to take our drink order, so I got off the stool and walked over to the girl in front of the register to order our drinks. That process took longer than Christmas for a four year old. After ordering our drinks I head back the 3 feet to where the wife and I are sitting to wait. and wait. and wait. and wait. Then out of nowhere the other people at the bar get waited on... and brought their drinks. The couple next to us had finished their iced coffee and latte before we were even served our coffee & OJ that we had ordered 15min before them. All we heard were apologies all morning long at this place... We finally get our drinks and our pager goes off for the table. Yes, it had been an hour wait for drinks. Apologies = 3 so far We finally go into the holy grail of dining areas that every Chico dressed Plano wife has been raving about... I counted the open tables during our tenure. THEY WERE ONLY SEATING 60% OF THE TABLES. I counted 10 tables and 4 waiters. Everybody acted like they were in the weeds, but they weren't. They're just VERY wet behind the ears. I heard, "I'm sorry" at every table more times than I could count. They seemed to fuck up something at every table. "I'm so sorry." "I'm sorry about that..." Seriously??? OK... the meal. ordered another coffee. got no cream. had to wait 10 min for that. Coffee turned cold. The food was actually pretty good... well, the stuff that they remembered to bring us. Had the lemon pancakes everybody was raving over & the flatbread. Both EXCELLENT. They did forget to bring us some of our order, but had no problems putting those forgotten treasures on the bill. That took another 10min to fix (& no we never got them, but had a long wait to get them removed off the bill). Apology total = 10 This place should be called ALL APOLOGIES, because that's all I heard all morning long. This whole place is just a disorganized mess that needs some proper direction.

I've only been once so I don't have a lot of info to judge by. I feel the dog friendly patio may be the best feature of the place. It's great. Comfy and laid back. I only had one latte. It was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. Staff seemed a little slow and it wasn't a busy day. I'll probably be back just because we like patios where we can bring our dog.

Love the ambience. Food is good. Service is hit or miss, depends on where you're seated. We were seated in the side room and the server disappeared after taking our order and only returned to give us the check. Prices are a bit high for certain dishes.

On our very first visit the place filled with smoke and the fire trucks came. It can only get better right ? Well it has and it hasn't. I live within a couple of miles and visit at least once a week. The service is hit or miss, but getting better overall. I recommend the Happy Hour. It has a 4$ menu. For the best chance of good service sit at a table inside. The bar and patio seem to be where they are really lacking. However, they allow dogs! Also, the patio is warmish in the winter with heaters and not too bad in the summer. I've only tried the vegetarian dishes and wish they had more. However, I will continue to go back. It's the best thing in North Dallas with good coffee and BYOD, dog.

The cleanliness was questionable:sticky table, coffee cup, sent two dirty plates back, asked for clean napkins twice, and a thumb touched the plate. Our server (Michael) started off nice but that changed: seemed a bit quick with, and then back to nice when the ticket came. The latte was very good, the drip wasn't bad. The ham and cheese omelet was delicious, and the red rosemary potatoes were perfect!

My fiance and I have been here a bunch of times; a few times for brunch, a few times just to grab a pumpkin spice late (the best I've ever had), and twice when they expanded on Thursday-Saturday for dinner hours. So obviously, we're big fans, but we just had our engagement party there on Sunday... Now, it may be our favorite place ever!! They did such an amazing job! Most of our friends had never been there; driven past it, thought about it, never had the time to just go. Most certainly, they'll all be back. The food was prepared perfectly, hot when it was supposed to be, chilled when it was supposed to be, and great presentation every time. The servers were attentive without smothering our good time. And I just love that patio! It's modern, but not stuffy and uncomfortable. Even if you're not throwing a party there, go eat their food! You won't regret it!

I have ever been among the large group waiting for this place to open. They finally did so while I was out of town last week. We went thus Saturday morning and it appears it was worth the wait. While the staff is obviously green the have great attitude and are trying hard to please. That will carry them through the startup period. The kitchen already has their act together. Our elderly in-laws joined us to try the place out during the soft opening period. French toast made with Challah was delicious, as were the lemon ricotta pancakes. My wife insisted I taste the scrambled eggs.. They were that good. She also loved her buckwheat pancakes. The I am looking forward to grabbing some beignets on a future visit. I am coffee nut, and my wife is not. But both of us enjoyed our mocha, and regular coffee. I asked if I could bring my dog to the patio and was told they hope to be able to allow that in the future. When that is allowed this will definitely be the coffee place of choice for me. Best of luck guy's... You are off to a good start! The date on this review is wrong...I had written it back when they first opened, but it was never posted...whatever, I still like the place!

The coffee house cafe shines with it's loving attention to quality and laid back atmosphere. The owner purchased the best coffee and espresso machines (there are only 2 in the US), and every brand of coffee served is carefully chosen. They even serve pour through coffee that I've never seen in Texas. Their signature latte is even better than the one at Pearl Cup. I know, I just went there! What really keeps me coming back is the fantastic brunch and lunch menu. I've had just about everything on the menu at this point and I love Carrie's devotion to all things brunch. She's a big fan of benedicts and the menu options will make the biggest brunch fans happy. While the portions are small, they are delicious and sharable. I love coming here to catch up on the paper, hang out with friends, or just to study. What a great addition to the Dallas coffee culture!

Strong and good espresso which is hard to find in Plano.good service. I love their tuna salad sandwich. This café is a sweet surprise in an uninspiring location, cool and hip. Find a booth or take a bar seat- the back room is not inviting. Excellent service.

I woke up starving this morning and grabbed my phone and hit Yelp. Searching for breakfast places nearby, I came across Coffee House Cafe. I remembered last week I drove by this place and thought, "well that's some place I should try." After all, I LOVE breakfast places. We arrived close to 9 AM and were greeted and seated immediately. Our table, while over-sized for 2, was neat and clean. Our waiter Giorgio was polite and knowledgeable. He could tell it was our first time visiting, and gave us some recommendations. I ordered the Signature Latte (Med) and the House Benedict. My friend ordered the Breakfast Burrito. The Signature Latte was delightful and while there were no refills of the Latte, he did refill with the house coffee (which was also great). The House Benedict wasn't the best I have had, but it wasn't bad either. I should have stuck with my gut and tried the Challah French Toast Sandwich. But there's always next time. The potatoes that accompanied the House Benedict however, were AMAZING! Probably the best potatoes I've had in a while. Perfectly crisp and tons of flavor. My friend commented that his breakfast burrito was the best he had tasted in town. I'm giving it 5 stars even if the Eggs Benedict weren't the absolute best. We'll definitely return again, and I recommend you give it a whirl. Keep your tummy happy!

I was visiting Dallas with my family when I drove past this lovely coffee house! They had the best coffee hands down! If you plan on taking a road trip to Dallas, stop by the coffeehouse! Their service was excellent and although, I didn't have the time to try their food, I can't wait to come back and try it!

If Cafe Brazil and Whiskey Cake had a love child, this would be it. I was expecting a place that felt a little more organic; we really thought it was a chain restaurant at first but it is independently owned. As it has only been open about two weeks, they are still working out the kinks and service can be a little slow. They have also changed their menu a few times; my boyfriend's menu had a few updates compared to mine. However, the staff is very friendly and make you feel welcome. We sat at a table in the coffee bar area and while it took a while for our waitress to take our order, the food came out fairly quickly. I had the Akaushi cheeseburger with the truffle fries as a side and my boyfriend had the tuna salad sandwich with sweet potato tots. The food was good but not amazing. My favorite thing was the remoulade sauce which came with the tots. This was my first time having Akaushi beef (a Japanese breed similar to Kobe) and it was very juicy and didn't feel heavy at all. If you like grass fed beef, you will like this. Usually when I get truffle fries, the truffle is overpowering but these were too subtle and inconsistent in flavor. However, judged as regular fries, they were quite tasty. The sweet potato tots were just okay to me. They ran out of the Japanese cold brew which was a bummer since that was the primary reason we went here. (It takes 12 hours to brew.) Instead I got an iced vanilla latte to go which I really enjoyed. The coffee had a great flavor; they make their own vanilla syrup and you can taste the difference. If you hate Starbucks' strong and "burnt" flavor then you should really check this place out. I like how the menu has some different options than your typical casual American restaurant, I just feel it needs better execution. Since they are still working the menu out, I'd be willing to go back, especially for brunch. The coffee for me is the real standout here.

The London Fog tea is sweet and still retains the clean flavor of the Earl Grey tea through some magic. Such a feel-good drink! Makes the cares of the day melt away in it's soothing steam.

I just had my second experience at Coffee House and I was surprised that for the second time it was a painful and lengthy experience. First time I ordered a breakfast burrito, was told 10 minutes. Being in the area I just waited nearby and was there about 12 minutes after I ordered, but it took another 15 after I got there to get my food. I have a feeling they didn't put my order in until I actually arrived, but whatever not a huge deal. Sure it was my first time but every restaurant is allowed to slip up every now and again. Well it's been a good six months and I've heard good things about the Coffee House from friends and family so I try the place out again. I order my breakfast burrito to which the person who answered my call can't tell me how long it will take, that's fine I figured it would be about 10 minutes. I get there my foods ready, perfect. Oh well my girlfriend decides she wants a hot chocolate real fast. Anybody care to guess how long that took? Try 20 minutes... for a medium hot chocolate. Not to mention they ended up not even giving us the right size and that it took us asking three times to get the drink so it's not like were just sitting there expecting to be remembered. The guy who was running our card seemed to get upset when I reminded him the order was to go and made sure to clearly point out twice that he figured it was a to-go based on the fact my order was a to-go... my bad sir, just making sure everybody was on the same page. I guess that upset the barista which is why the hot chocolate took 20 minutes, but who knows maybe that's just how long it they take to make a drink. Granted this was a Sunday morning and the place was busy and lively (usually a good sign) but there's no way a drink as easy as a hot chocolate takes that long to make. Anyways enough about my girlfriends drink. Of course after the lengthy wait my food was luke warm not that i mattered because they didn't get my breakfast burrito correct either. Anyways disappointed and a bit peeved by my experience I decided to call the manager whose name starts with a C. She was extremely polite and apologetic, I had asked for my money back since I was not at all satisfied by my experience to which she agreed. This is the only reason this place gets two stars and why I might try it again in the not so distant future. But currently my opinion of this place is if you aren't in a rush and don't have anywhere to be the Coffee House Cafe might not be a bad place to grab a bite, but if you are in a hurry at all and expect to be served as a to-go customer should be served avoid this place. Granted their poor service towards customers was offset by their manager cleaning up after their mess I have to hand it to their manager for at least salvaging the most out of that situation.

The wife and I regularly went here for weekend brunch when we lived in Dallas. The herb goat cheese omelet, the lemon pancakes, and the french press coffee are all great. The service can be slow at times, even when the restaurant isn't very full. The wait time was usually 30 minutes for weekend breakfast.

What a great new breakfast find in North Dallas! I had the goat cheese and herb omelet and it was outstanding. It was fluffy and the tangy goat cheese was a great surprise. I also had an iced latte and would have to say it was one of the best ones that I have ever had. Great atmosphere, great food. Would definitely recommend giving it a try.

My husband and I considered Coffee House Cafe as one of our brunch favorites for over the past year. The food is good, the coffee is good, and they have comfy atmosphere. Unfortunately, the level of service has increasingly slid downhill the past three times we have visited and reached the pinnacle low point today. After waiting 10 minutes without being so much greeted after being sat at our booth we have had our fill. Three team members walked by us multiple times without speaking a word. If this was during a peak time and they had a line out the door, and had this not been a follow up to two previous sub-par service experiences we would have been more understanding and not chosen to just leave. Hopefully management will get their act together and get the level of service back to where it needs to be. For the prices you pay for breakfast items here, the service needs to be in line. Not sure if we will give them another shot at this point... Just know that if you choose to test the waters, you may be taking a gamble. We are heading Original Pancake House now for yummy food and consistent service.

I went for lunch and ordered the blackened tilapia tacos and so did my lunch date. For $10 it was sort of small (two small corn tortilla tacos with mostly lettuce and a bowl of beans) - but I can appreciate it because it's supposed to be quality food. When I got my order, and took a bite, I realized that it was chicken and not fish. After my one bite, half of my taco was gone so I didn't want to ask for a new one. I asked my friend if she got fish or chicken. They messed up her order and got her chicken as well. As for the flavor, it was there. However, my corn tortillas were so hard that it cracked down the middle. I only got one bite of a taco and the rest was just a mess with cracker-like tortillas left on the side. The beans were okay. I tried my friend's truffle shoestring fries, which were served luke warm. I must say that overall, it was just average. I could think of better places to go for lunch for a cheaper price. The service staff is super nice, but just a bit aloof.

My wife and I enjoyed a lazy Saturday morning breakfast here. Guess I shouldn't have been surprised at the higher-than-average prices...the exterior is simple but elegant and it is at a nice shopping corner near businesses. My wife loved her basic drip coffee, and absolutely loved the lemon ricotta pancakes. Simple, but incredible melt-in-your-mouth flavor with the perfect amount of lemon. I had the breakfast burrito and knew the price was well worth it when it came out - this thing was a monster. Loaded with eggs and beans and potatoes and cheese and more, and I couldn't decide if I liked the chipotle salsa or the tomatillo salsa more. Overall, simple but elegant, and the food choices have a flair of extravagance that justifies the higher price. Very friendly, if mildly slow, service.

I've been running past this place for what seems like forever waiting for it to open up. It was worth the wait if for nothing else than the sweet potato tater tots. De.lici.ous. I also got the well presented migas which were equally tasty. Update: The burger is amazing as well!

We have eaten here twice, and loved it both times. I will absolutely admit the service can be dicey. The server our first time was aloof, but nice. She never brought the coffee my hubs ordered, which bugged me. It bugged me further when we were charged for it. Our server the second time was more on the ball, also nice. The servers do seem to be rushing all of the time. Not sure if it's because there aren't enough or because they're new. However the food is totally worth it for us. I had their basic burger the first time we went, hubs had the french toast sandwich. Both were really good. Hubs got some cheese grits with his meal and they rocked my socks! The next time I had bacon, grits and a single buttermilk pancake. Oh my. That was the best pancake I had ever eaten in my life. Seriously. Every meal since then has been a disappointment because it's not those damn pancakes! They haunt my dreams. Hubs got the french toast sandwich again, because it was that good. We have booth had lattes/cappuccinos there and they were really good. I guess it's a little pricey, I don't remember. It's no more pricey than yucky IHOP or any other breakfast places. It boils down to getting what you pay for, and here you do. One of the other reviewers called the place "hipster" and clearly doesn't know what hipster means. It's just a cozy place with really good food made with really good ingredients.

I wish I could provide a more complete review. That being said, the food, service, and atmosphere are wonderful. The staff is friendly, attentive but not over-bearing, and knowledgable about the menu. The atmosphere is bustling, but the high-backed booths give you a sense of personal space. The music is present, but it does not interfere with conversation. And the food...amazing. If you don't try the lemon-ricotta pancakes then you're wrong. The perfect balance of the sour ricotta and the tart, freshness of the lemon are balanced perfectly with the sweetness of the pancake. The eggs are fresh and cooked to order (correctly). As I stated at then beginning, I wish I could give a more complete review, but I can't consider missing out on those pancakes!

I LOVE this place. The staff are all so nice and attentive. The food is fantastic. I've only been there for dinner twice and have not tried their breakfasts but I've been told they are awesome. I think they need a second location down in the Uptown or the Henderson Ave area as well. They would be packed day and night! I like the fact that the Chef comes out to greet the guests and asks how everything is because he cares if you are enjoying the food or not! I was there last friday night 01/13/12 and had the Chicken Schnitzel. Best I've had this side of New Braunfels or Fredericksburg! It was crowded but we got a seat immediately and was waited on just as quickly. The Wait staff are very nice and personalble. I highly recommend going and I know I will be back as often as I can as I live a bit out of the way but I do come up to North Dallas at least once a week or so.

I am TRYING hard to love this place as it is one of very few non-chain establishments in the area with a fantastic vibe, great interior design & cool music but the food has to improve or this place isn't going to last long. My husband and I went to brunch for our first visit. I ordered shrimp and cheese grits with chile oil along with a ricotta, lemon pancake and white sangria. The shrimp was terrible quality - it was flavorless and mealy. The cheese grits were fine and the chile oil was a nice addition but the bad shrimp ruined the entire dish. The ricotta, lemon pancake was good but not outstanding enough to make a real impression. I will give them props on their white sangria. They add vanilla vodka to it and I have to say it was the best white sangria I have ever had. On my second visit, we decided to go for dinner (again trying desperately to love this place). My husband had an overcooked flavorless burger with a cheap, white uninteresting bun and wilted lettuce. I had blackened shrimp hoping I'd have better luck with shrimp but unfortunately my experience was worse than the first. Not only was the shrimp mealy but this time it tasted as it had been in the refrigerator one day longer than it should have been. I hesitated eating it and was surprised that the waitress didn't notice that more the 75% of my meal was still on the plate when she took it away. Because this is a local establishment with a great atmosphere, I am going to give it ONE MORE TRY but if it doesn't go well, I will complain to management, show them my first review and kindly suggest that better attention be paid in the kitchen. Coffee House Café - we are rooting for you but time isn't on your side.

My fiance and I tried this place a few weeks ago. We went on a Saturday morning (around 10am) and there was already a wait. So we were able to grab seating at the bar. The bartender was very nice and sociable but lacked a bit in focusing on the customer's needs and orders. However, this place is pretty new so I am sure that will improve. As for the food....we ordered the beignets for an appetizer. The bartender even said previous customers had said this compares very closely with New Orleans beignets. Not the case, they were okay, not great....not even close to New Orleans style. They do come with 6 beignets and a sauce. Didn't care much for the sauce...looked too much like butter! My fiance ordered the appetizer flatbread as her meal. She really liked it. I ordered the french toast sandwich. It was okay however really heavy on syrup and cinnamon. Overall, food was good but pricey. With those 3 items plus orange juice for each of us...it totaled around $35 plus gratuity. That is too much for breakfast!! FYI: We noticed the woman next to us ordered pancakes and that is all it came with...no side items. So if you wanted eggs, toast, etc...that is an extra cost!!

Loved the tortilla soup. With that being said, they offer a WIDE variety of food.. which quite surprised me being this was my first visit and I fully intended to order "just" coffee. Theeeeen I saw the menu. Wow! I saw salmon and other delicious options. Niiice! And they met my coffee expectations. Latte was very very good.

When we saw the contemporary rustic exterior and stepped into the cellar-esque cafe, we were hopeful to have found another 4-5 star coffee house. Wowed by the coffee extraction contraptions and the Japanese cold coffee machine that resembles an 18th century science project, we became even more hopeful. But unfortunately as the lunch progressed the stars slowly faded from a 4 to a 3.6 to a 3.5 and finally a 2.5 star, rounded up to a 3 just because its a beautiful Friday. Tip for the owners, please make sure your service is top notch when you first open because you only have one chance to make an impression. Even if food is delectable, bad service can turn away customers for good. Let's start with the good, the best thing? Coffee, only befitting for a place called Coffee house cafe. Hot or Cold, perfectly brewed no bitter aftertaste. Lemon ricotta pancakes, very lemony and fluffy but could not taste ricotta but were still amazing. Signature flat bread was pretty good, crispy and thin which is what I like and the basil really added to the flavor of the aoli and mushrooms. Cheese Grits were delicious and I don't even like grits normally, but these tasted like blended macaroni and cheese with a light texture. So now to the bad, the server was nice so that's at least a plus but the food took forever to come out and it wasn't even that busy. We asked for a straw - never got it, asked for Tabasco - never got it, one of us ordered a vegetarian pizza and there was sausage on it - took another 20 minutes for the next one to come out meanwhile everyone else was done with lunch already. The credit card charges was swapped even though we pointed out how much to put on each card specifically. Nothing against our server since he did try but we all felt that the service was too inexperienced. The people behind the coffee bar were just goofing around with the coffee machines, felt like they hired a bunch of high school kids without supervision. Would I go back? Maybe after a few months when they've cleaned up their act a little, I do want to try sitting at their nice porch when the weather gets colder, enjoying the fireplace with a cup of hot coffee but in the mean time, I hope they make some major improvements.

Great food! Friendly and helpful staff, and the owner is simply amazing. The owner and I met after a mishap with their bean soup spilling into my $700 handbag. The experience could have taken a turn to nightmare land, but after speaking with her, she took great care of me and ultimately made the experience a positive one. I have returned several times, with family and friends. I love this place, and everyone I bring here loves it, as well. It is a neighborhood gem! Thanks for the great food and great service!

My wife and I moved to North Dallas in November of 2011, and she initially found this place by using Yelp. It's safe to say we visit this cafe once or twice every couple of weeks. The house drip is excellent, the atmosphere inviting, and the chicken apple sausage hash is the best entree on the menu in my opinion.

All I wanna shout out is W O W! We had some of the best Pablano Soup I've ever eaten. The waiter was so attentive, but discreet...even fun! The cook came out to visit & describe their gluten-free options. Wish I could eat there everyday.

Tried Coffeehouse Cafe for the 1st time and will definitely be back! Great remodel, very cool interior, comfortable booths, cute bar, and great looking patio (to hit as soon as the temps drop). We tried the chicken sausage hash (with poached eggs & hollandaise) and lemon ricotta pancakes (perfect amount of lemon flavor and quite moist & flavorful). Both were tasty and perfect portion size. I want to try the coffees and some other breakfast items on my next visit. I like the carafe of water on the table, nice touch! Would love to see tv's on the patio so we could watch football while trying the lunch and possibly a bloody mary.

I've been to many loud dining establishments, this was the worst. It was so loud I couldn't hear my wife from across the table, and anything the staff said was a waste. The gunshot decibel sound was truly painful. We hoped, in vain, for outstanding food. I ordered breakfast. Eggs scrambled dry, house potatoes, crisp bacon, and wheat toast. My wife ordered eggs over medium, house potatoes, crisp bacon, and a lemon ricotta pancake. The scrambled eggs were undercooked, the potatoes were mediocre, the pancake was gummy in the middle, and the bacon was badly undercooked. After we finished our meals, we had to flag down one of the staff and have her hunt down our server. We were finally able to pay and escape the painful atmosphere. We won't be back.

It was my first time time there. The little kids that you hire at the front gave us blank stares when we walked in. The staff at the bar was unprofessional and assumed that we have been there before. One of the bar stools was lopsided by 4 inches on one leg (I hope they took that away). and the bar counter was sticky. Overall, the coffee itself was decent but the customer service needs much improvement.

So... This place is adorable when you walk in but it takes a nose dive from there. The service is HORRIBLE. Our waiter was cute and nice enough but he was clueless, slow, disorganized and forgetful. My latte was just a little over lukewarm so it turned completely cold by 5 sips in. The lemon pancakes were good but my friends hash was not good. His whole plate was a mess and his toast that he ordered came out 10 minutes after his breakfast. Everything was over priced for the quality and not at a desirable temperature. We also waited 38 minutes for pancakes and hash and waited 20 minutes before we got our coffee. The only thing they had going for them was the outside patio area with a beautiful fireplace. I also liked that people had their cute dogs out on the patio. Honestly, I won't be back.

If you're into coffee this place is for you- they literally have THE BEST coffee in Dallas, and take their coffee VERY seriously. The service is over the top nice, ever people who weren't my waiter kept clearing my table, refilling my drinks, & checking on me. The atmosphere is really chill and enjoyable, with the best patio. The food is quite tasty, the only thing on the menu, so far, that I don't like is the salmon (which was a kinda mushy)... can't get enough of this place!

One of my favorite brunch places. My boyfriend and I have been here many times with friends and we are never disappointed. We've tried almost everything, and it's all good. My favorite, and always a must is their lemon ricotta pancake. You'll be addicted immediately. Also, I am a huge spicy bloody Mary fan, just make sure you don't say extra spicy Bc it was a little too spicy for me. They mean business when it comes to spicy Bloody Mary's. Tea selection phenomenal. Ask waiter to list all the teas for Bc they don't have a written list. Breakfast flatbreads and omelets are to die.

Beautiful atmosphere, good food, but my husband and I weren't exactly impressed with the lunch menu prices. They were a little rich for our blood, given the wealth of options up the road in Plano or down the road in Addison. Still, it's a gorgeous place. I intend to go back to try their breakfast menu.

I went there for the first time on 4th of July morning with a group of 12 people. When the organizer first plan to meet there, she attempted to make reservation and got conflicting information on whether or not they took them. That in itself was not a problem. What became a problem was after the order was taken. First all, I do want to complement the waiter. He did his best in getting us taken care of. But when you are given any help, and had to take care of the patio folks at the other end of Restaurant, at times we sat there abandoned. We went in at 9:00 and was not able to leave until well after 11:30 because we sat there for 20 to 30 minutes on waiting for our checks, as well as sitting with no service at all. When I finally got my check, I went to the bar area to get change for a 5. I was told that they had no ones. If I had not gotten upset I, the person would have done nothing. What added to me being upset, there were several people who was sitted next to us in small table who got waited on. They were able to come and go without any issues. I was wanting to go see Spiderman movie at 11:30. But was force to cancelled plans as I wasn't able to leave the restaurant until after 11:30. If you want my recomendation, because of the lack of service I recomend going some place else.

WE WILL NOT BE BACK. OVER PRICED AND WORST SERVICE WE HAVE EVER HAD-Very bad experience with service twice now. We waited 30 minutes for our check with dirty dishes still at our table. Finally managed to stop another server walking by, asked for our check and still did not get it. We left what we thought would be enough to cover the tab. I walked around the restaurant looking for ANYONE that would help us before we left. No manager or server in sight, so we finally left. As we were backing out of our parking spot, our server comes running out after us and asks us to pay more.

Becoming a regular stop for dinner. I like "breakfast for dinner" and they have some great dishes. I now crave the hash, really enjoy the French toast sandwich and the burgers were surprisingly good. Place has a really nice atmosphere. Service has been ok (good personality, but not very efficient on one visit. Efficient, but not particular personable on another visit). Will definitely be back and would recommend.

Love the coffee, very soft and no after-taste! Love the mushroom and spinach omelette, wow! Great service, awesome beignets and gluten-free pancakes! All they need now is to train their waitstaff properly because they had no clue (both times I visited) what shade-grown coffee, however one of them did find out and he came back to tell us, we were just wondering, had never heard of shade-grown. The other thing we would like to see is more organic items like eggs, and non-dairy, non-soy options for coffee creamers/lattés (oat, coconut or almond milks)-soy is so bad for you! Surprised a place that serves organic coffee doesn't know that. However, it's all delicious and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

I met someone for lunch at 11:30 am and was delighted to learn I could order an omelette during the lunch hour. The spinach and mushroom omelette was delicious. Great to have turkey bacon as a side, rather than regular bacon. We were seated right away and our server was exceptionally nice. It was busy, but not overly crowded today. Lovely experience.

I went back to give the place another shot, and had a much better experience. My ham and cheese omelet was very nice, and the brewed coffee was good. Service (thanks, Melissa!) was very much improved. My three companions enjoyed their experience as well. I also tried the Americano, and it was over-roasted, so you might want to give anything Espresso-based a pass if you are sensitive to such things. Some people like that roast, but I'm not one of them.

WORST PLACE EVER! My boyfriend and I drive by this place all the time so finally we decided to go check it out... We were seated on the patio and waited to get recognized for about FIFTEEN MINUTES! The girl serving the table next to us just walked right passed us about four or five times, Not even a glance! Looking over the menu everything looked good. Finally our server decides to come over and ask us what we wanted to drink and eat. I got the migas and my boyfriend got the eggs benedict, Being little piggys we dicided to share two Lemon ricotta pancakes. Finally after about 35 mins our food comes out, Mind you its Monday afternoon at 12:30 Not busy AT ALL! The food was mediocre, I went to cuinary school and when we were taught how to make eggs benedict, The hollindase is supposed to cover the eggs and have that yummy buttery flavor, NOPE not this! The hollindase was like thick mayo drizzle... no flavor at all! And my migas.....The eggs were compleatly overcooked and the torilla cup it was served in was not cooked at all. It had a stale texture. The only good thing on the plate were the potatoes that I drowned in ketchup and salt. OH YEAH not to mention they messed up our pancake order and brought us new ones that were burned and and took about fifteen minutes to get to us. Our server went to get us new silverware because we already finished our other food and they cleaned our plates up. On his way to get it he stoped and talked to a co-worker, making us wait even more, so I ended up going to the next empty table and grabbing us forks. It didnt even matter how good they were I was already pissed off. Honeslty I wanted to like it here but they dissaponted me. Im never coming here again.

So happy to have this place in our neighborhood. This is very different for North Dallas. This place has a good feel -- you walk in and you feel like you don't want to leave. One of the places where you want to linger....very homey feel. The signature Latte is very yummy -- especially if you like your lattes on the sweeter side. The breakfast menu is small but the food is very fresh and non-greasy. It can get busy on weekends. The outdoor patio is very cozy with a fireplace. I would definitely recommend this place for a special brunch or if you have visitors from out of town and want to impress them ;) We have been here twice and both times the service was slow. The first time we went it was their trial week (before they opened officially) and we had to wait a loooong time for food.

Alert: This review is of their pour over coffee only. I was hopping these guys would be coffee purists, and not just another Starbucks-wannabe. Whenever I see pour over on the menu, I get giddy. Finally! A coffee shop that respects artisan coffee! But, I was so disappointed. You can usually tell if a coffee shop is a purist by their baristas. How much their baristas know about coffee and their passion for it usually shines. Not my barista. When I asked her about their Japanese Cold Brew, she just said it's a typical cold brew. Come on girlfriend, at least try and act like you care.... I should've turned away right there but I still placed my order. So here were some of the offenses that I noticed: 1) She didn't use a digital scale to measure the amoutn of water 2) She used her BARE HANDS to squeeze the filter with the coffee - this is a huge no-no because it completely undermines the art of a pour-over 3) I told her not to leave any room in my cup because I wasn't going to add any cream/sugar - but still there was about 2 inches left in my cup:( So if you like commercial coffee, then you will like this place. If you like artisan coffee e.g. Fourtheen Eighteen, you will not like this place.

We had a great experience with the food. Our waiter had zero personality but maybe he was having a bad day. We ate outdoors next to the grand fireplace. They asked if we had reservations, GOOD TO KNOW! The four of us ordered something different and shared. We got the lemon ricotta pancakes that were both fluffy and delicious. I am not a huge pancake fan, but I would get these again. We got the breakfast burrito with bacon (which was my husband and niece's favorite) I agree it was pretty great. We got the shrimp and grits because my niece is dying to find a good one locally. Although it was good it was not something we would order again and has a bit of a kick to it. We also tried the chicken fried filet. Let me just start by saying Whaaaaaa?? You took that amazing meat and made a chicken fry with it? But hey you only live once. We thought it was ok, but thought it best be served the way it was meant to be. It was a little under seasoned. The coffee was great and the place is hoppin busy. We have been back a couple times and they did not disappoint. Staff was very friendly on return visits.

Coffee House caught my eye a few weeks ago and I wanted to try it out. I was a single diner and when I stepped in the host said, "can I help you?" I paused for just a sec because I couldn't resist. It's a cafe, what did he imagine I was there for? "I would like to have a meal," I answered plainly. I kinda wanted to say, well I would like to try on a 3 inch pump in a size 7. Well anyway, on to the meal. I ordered a pancake, bacon and a glass of orange juice. I was so disappointed to get a thin pancake dusted in powdered sugar with no butter in sight. I love fluffy, buttery pancakes. Out of my 3 strips of bacon, 2 were so well done they were crunchy, way too hard and nearly burnt. This was my very first meal of the day so it was such a let down. I would have liked to have told my server that I would appreciate some butter and crisp, edible bacon but unfortunately she never checked back. When she dropped the check I didn't bother at that point. A good server would have been back within 2-3 minutes to check that everything was good. I am in no big rush to go back.

I visited this place when it first opened some years back and found it vibrant and the food tasty and heading towards inventive. The chef was funny and running around pushing his beignets. And the coffee! How could one resist? The last visit was about a year ago and the food had lost a bit of its luster. Presentation was mediocre and the flavor pizazz was waning. Today I wanted to treat myself to a good coffee with a nice breakfast so I headed over with my granddaughter. The coffee still doesn't disappoint but when I have to add salt to my food to try and highlight any teeny bit of flavor or spice, I know something isn't right. I ordered a Benedict on a chicken apple sausage hash and it was completely tasteless. The hollandaise drizzle over the eggs seemed just for show (no flavor) and there was zero punch to the chicken sausage. Nothing stood out in the dish at all. Not even a slight hint of fennel or heat to the sausage - it was completely bland. The hash underneath followed suit. The entire dish was just - blah. Uneventful, uninspired, and definitely someone scared the cooks off of using salt and spices. Man up folks! Find your passion again. Time to let this one go and find another breakfast place for me when visiting Dallas.

This review is more of a warning to all future customers: DO NOT PARK IN THE WENDY'S PARKING LOT, NO MATTER HOW EMPTY IT IS. My husband and I got towed along with like 3 other customers because the DM of that Wendy's is crazy and fascist. The lot there is maybe a quarter full at all times and this manager is on a towing spree. As for Coffee House Cafe, great food and nice service. The wait is long because of how delicious it is. The staff was so sweet to us while we waited for our Uber to pick us up after. We appreciate their kindness!

I live in the North Dallas area and hit this place up periodically, so I think I can give it a fair shake. 1) The coffee is good. It should be, with a name like that, and it is. Try the house latte (vanilla & caramel - yum) or try something new and order a pour over. 2) The lemon ricotta pancakes are not as awesome as they sound. I tell you this only to save your money and calories for some of their other food that's actually quite good. For example... 3) Things you should order: breakfast burrito (tip: add bacon & ask for fresh jalapenos), shrimp & grits, challah french toast sandwich, buckwheat granola pancakes, breakfast flatbread. They are all great and will keep you full and happy. It has a quaint atmosphere and offers some adult coffee beverages if you're looking for a mimosa or bloody mary to go with your breakfast. Also - if you're heading there at a busy time, it doesn't hurt to do call ahead. TL;DR - go there for the house latte, order the breakfast burrito. yes, they have booze.

OMG!! Tried this gem a few days ago. Great food and amazing service! I order the shrimp and grits and they were by far the best shrimp and grits I ever had. My cousin had the breakfast burrito which looked delicious and he said tasted amazing. I plan coming back to visit very soon. I would definitely recommend.

Bartenders are hit-or-miss. Some are splish-splash on the sauce instead of going in HEAVY like you're gearing up for a night drop into 'Nam... Anyways, that's what we wanted. We got it in the form of a Mimosa "Carafe" in which they THUNK'd down a bottle of champagne with a little full glass of OJ to go with it. The lemon ricotta pancakes were EXCELLENT as well. Was not expecting it to be as expensive as it was at the end of the day but, again, you get what you pay for...

This is a meh breakfast/brunch joint. Though they have a variety of options on their menu, the outcome isn't all that great. I got migas last time I was here and it was lacking in flavor and the salsa seemed to come out of a can. Also, the coffee (I got french press) was definitely not dark roast after I asked. It was fruity and citrus in flavor. The lattes are probably better. Service is good though. Our waitress was attentive and friendly as she struck up small conversation with us.

Chicken fried steak, holy crap! I am a meat and potatoes kind of guy and I was a little skeptical coming here because it is a coffee house and Im not that fancy. If you are anywhere near this place, do yourself a favor and stop in and get the chicken fried steak. As a side note the customer service is too notch as well. Robert, my server, was on top of everything and was the one who steered me to the fantastic chicken fried steak. Very cool place!

Stopped in on a weeknight for dinner and was pleasantly surprised at the live music. Very nice touch. The ambiance was welcoming and very rustic. I ordered the apple sausage benedict which was cooked well and was above average in taste and portion size. I really enjoyed the portobello fries, which were very tasty and satisfying. The chocolate brownie a la mode was very rich and creamy, enough for two. I did like the extensive options on the menu for breakfast as well as the ability to have breakfast all day. I will definitely be coming back since everything tasted very fresh and flavorful.

Love the Beignets and Signature House Latte. Had the Chicken apple sausage Hash was good but they forgot to top it off with the chipotle sauce. Love the atmosphere but our wait staff might have been suffering from lack of sleep kept forgetting plates, coffee but we did enjoy the food. So , we will be back to try the lunch menu.

Great place for Sunday brunch. Mimosa was $6.00 though a little pricey when I can go other places for $1-3. The French toast sandwich was very good. There was about a 20 minute wait when we went around 10:30 on a Sunday but was sat on the patio within 15 minutes. Server was a little busy with such a full section but still had good service.

My daughter and I went here for breakfast on a weekday and I was pleasantly surprised. We were seated in the room to the left of the bar. The dark wood and dim lighting was very cozy and comfortable. Great environment to hang out and eat. I started off with their signature house latte, and it was a perfect balance of froth and espresso. I really enjoyed it, and the temperature was just right. I had a hard time deciding what to get because they had so many great things on their menu. Since I've been on a goat cheese kick lately, I went with the fresh herb omelette. My daughter ordered the challah french toast. My omelette was fluffy and was very flavorful. The goat cheese was rich and creamy, and the house potatoes were well seasoned and oh-so-good! My daughter liked her french toast. I thought it was pretty good, not the best I've had, but still good. We didn't have to wait to be seated and our food didn't take long to get to our table. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive throughout our meal. Coffee House Cafe has been added to my list of breakfast/brunch places I'd come back to.

Just tried to place a to go order and I was told no to go orders. That's ok. Then I asked, can I come in and order it to go? I was told "you can come in and order food and put it in a to go box yourself"! Are you kidding me!?!? I was about to spend about $30 on breakfast and you lost out on that sale due to that! What lazy customer service. This is Dallas and I can get food ANYWHERE! Might want to rethink that business plan.

Extra star for the location and atmosphere-Lots of indoor/outdoor seating and nice interior design/layout. I hear they play live music on weekends sometimes so will have to check that out-it's also super close to where I live so that's a plus. Food was mediocre-They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner so I opted to go the breakfast for dinner route. I got the lemon ricotta pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs and their house latte. Pancakes were pretty flavorful and lemony, just how I wanted it-they were tasty, but nothing spectacular. Eggs had no seasoning and coffee was decent. My friend got the salmon and said it was also bland and needed more seasoning. Maybe too many items on the menu in my opinion... I think it's a good place to hang out if you just want to grab a cup o' joe or meet up with someone as it's a great space and in a good location in Plano, but if you're going for the food, I'd go somewhere else.

This is a great coffee cafe but they also have a pretty healthy and extensive food menu. They serve an awesome burger. It's made from Akaushi beef and you can taste the difference. It comes with tasty fries that are hard to resist. They serve a tasty variety of flat breads too. The breakfast menu is available throughout the day. And they serve challah french toast and yes it's as bad for you and as it is delicious! Their beignets are warm, fluffy and scrumptious. They have local artists playing live music in the evenings and happy hour starts at 2pm. The service is spot on. So, they manage to both maintain a positive and cheerful atmosphere and serve scrumptious food and drinks. So glad I live so close by! The days I work from home I can plug in my laptop and enjoy their free wi-fi with my yummy mocha.

Yum yum yum oh so yum in my tum!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I friggin love this place! I've been here a ton of times... decided it's time to write a review! Whelp since it's a coffee house let's start there. Their classic latte is delicious! Comes out perfect every time and always so pretty :) my husband loves all their drip in- house coffees too. On to breakfast! Now they serve breakfast all day... Let me say that again ..ALL DAY! YAY!! So I've actually never had anything but their breakfast it's just that darn good. I usually get the fresh herb and goat cheese omelet but they are know for their challah French toast sandwich , which is amazing and make sure to drizzle some syrup on top of it. Yes it's decadent and you aren't sticking to any diet program eating it but it's totally worth having. They also have delicious lemon ricotta pancakes! More yummies for your tummies! This place is popular so come earlier or you may have a wait. But it's a pretty good size and also has a nice covered patio so the wait is never long . It's does tend to get pretty loud in there so don't expect to have some quite romantic breakfast. But do expect to have extremely happy tastebuds!

Been coming here for 2 years now and have to say they cant go wrong with anything on their menu. Everything is delicious and you don't leave with that "icanthop" feeling ;). I guess nothing is overly greasy and the portion size is just right. The coffee is top notch (it better be they named the place after it). All kidding aside this is always one of the places I take my family to when they are visiting from out of town. Other than one or two occasions the service has been great on a whole. And if your here on an off day try their bloody mary's, by far my favorite thing on the menu!

I was really looking forward to trying this place out because it always seems packed but I was very disappointed. There was a wait for a table which seems unusual at breakfast which I was okay with. We got sat pretty quickly and the server got to our table right away but it went downhill from there. Firstly, everything is pretty overpriced, but considering the fact that they serve cage-free eggs, I understood. My latte was great but it took about fifteen minutes to get it, but I was really disappointed with the food. I guess the reason it is so crowded is because you have to sit there forever waiting for your food, it took about 40 minutes, and that is pretty long for dinner, much less, breakfast. It was my first time to try eggs benedict and it was way below my expectations. Firstly, the poached eggs were over cooked, secondly the hollandaise was barely drizzled over the eggs like a garnish rather than part of the meal, plus the potatoes were pretty flavorless. When I pay $14 for a breakfast entree and wait that long to get it, it better be perfect and that is not what I got. This is an old review from a few months after they opened, so things might have changed. But I was so upset with my experience that I haven't been back.

BF told me this was a great place to meet a friend so I invited her here and immediately loved it when I arrived. Warm and inviting staff and seated immediately (on a friday at 3pm). Ordred the mint coffee which had a mint liquor.l Yum! Will be back for that! Ordered crab cakes and huevos rancheros which fit my diet and I really enjoyed. Will be back! Only thing I have to complain is that the waiter took a while to come check on us. But not worth losing a star!

I love this place. It's got a bar where you can also get coffee, an nice sized patio, and plenty of seating inside. Well, if you show up for brunch, you will definitely have to wait, but the food is really good. I think that one of the things that I love is the atmosphere. You can see all of the work that went into building the restaurant, and I love all the wood. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes, which were delicious. I also tried a mimosa, but it had pulp in it. I get it, the whole farm to table thing, however, sometimes I just want to enjoy them without worrying about swallowing seeds, or bits of orange. Great breakfast spot. They sometimes have live music on the patio, and there is plenty of parking.

Went here today for brunch, it was great! We brought our puppy and sat in the patio area. This place is very dog friendly, there were 3 other tables with pups. Our server was really cool and was really sweet to our dog. The food was delicious! I ordered chicken Apple sausage hash, BF ordered shrimp and grits and we shared the pancakes, everything was fantastic. Cool, quiet environment, and great service :)

Has a really nice ambiance, very rustic interior. Haven't sat on the patio but it's big and looks cozy. We've had cappuccinos there and their house latte and they're both good. Drip coffee not exciting. From what I can tell, you go there for breakfast: We've had the lemon blue berry pancakes, French toast sandwich, the apple sausage mash eggs Benedict, and the Migas.. all excellent. The potatoes they serve as a side for most dishes are really good. On a whim, I got the cheesy grits as an a la cart side, it was quite tasty. The 2 salsas are homemade - good and they have heat to them. We've always had good service and have been there early when it was quiet and later in the morning when it was quite busy. It's a really solid breakfast spot and we have made ourselves regulars.

OMG. This place is Fandamntastic . Service, Fred, is excellent. Ask to sit in his section. He's the best! Had the Bacon Bleu Burger. Ordered Med Rare and they delivered! Was the best burger I've had in years, and I eat a lot of burgers. The Whiskey Bread Pudding is to die for :-)

This is only a review of the BREAD PUDDING and service. A 4 Star average; 3 for the bread pudding and 5 for the service. I'm a fool for a GOOD bread pudding! Those who love this dessert fall into two distinct camps. I love my pudding with the bread on top crusted crispy brown then, when SPOONed to serve, that top yields a somewhat creamy (not runny!) breaded custard below, ahhh absolute heaven!! Others prefer their pudding firm enough to SLICE :-| The bread pudding here is of a firm consistency, but not too firm that I couldn't enjoy it. It is rather good for a pudding that just the bread with just enough custard to hold it together; no raisins or unusual adds. It's not overly sweet nor does it have too much cinnamon. And most important, although it is firm, it's not the bread 'brick' I have been disappointed to have served at other restaurants. Because it is a bit firm, it could be served with more sauce. But even with that critique, it was not dry. The portion was rather large, enough for three to share generously; six could have nice small, but satisfying servings. Pudding musing aside, we were a group of 20+ filtering in at staggered times over the first 30+ minutes of the gathering and the service was EXCELLENT! The food here was great and our server Luke was great. My only critique is that management needs to better staff their servers on holiday weekends - it took longer than usual to get our food but it was hot and worth the wait. Will be coming back again soon! Definitely get the house latte. Yum yum!

Happy with my three visits to Coffee House Cafe and all of them have been in the bar area. The service has been great and the food has been very good. Portion size ? Very large Coffee options ? Extensive enough for me Location and size is great No annoyingly loud music which seems to be the theme as Dallas restaurants search for Soul and purpose as they realize that's how it's done in the new era.

Loved it! Perfect place for brunch. And I would love to come back for dinner too. The atmosphere, the decorations, the staffs... Wonderful!!! And talk about their specialty latte! I had a sip of my husbands and i had to order one for me too. The coffee barista at this place is amazing. And of course the food here were good. I had the benedict and my husband had the french toast. Ive bee to many different breakfast places but here.. It was the far best. Perfect seasoning ! Perfect sweetness and savoryness. Hehe Definitely recommended!

On a whim, I stopped in for a relatively quick breakfast, and wasn't prepared for my experience. Let's be honest, most places with "Coffee" or "Café" in the name usually fall into the "mom & pop cheap-o diner-style" category of restaurants - at least they do in many of the places I've been - so I was beside myself when I stepped inside and saw the bar and layout. The bar was horseshoe-shaped and the black and dark wood trim made it feel more like an upscale martini joint, rather than a café. Clean, modern, classy - who knew?!? They were actually having kitchen work done from a previous gas leak that morning, so I sat at the bar and Ally -the awesome barista/bartender on duty- took good care of me. I ordered a Denver omelette and a mocha and waited. Ally told me all about the place, the espresso drinks, the wine list, and the general atmosphere when it's not 9 in the morning. She also told me that it would be a few minutes longer than usual on food due to the repairs in the kitchen. She lied. My breakfast was delivered within minutes! So let's get down to brass tacks here. Ally and the rest of the staff are amazing! If I could, I would crank this review to 11, based on the people and atmosphere alone. The Mocha was also all kinds of delicious. Ally calmly paid attention to all the details and made sure the latte was top notch in taste and delivery. She explained the fair trade coffee they use, and that there are so few good, fair trade, and organic coffee places in the country, let alone DFW. We talked about local spots we knew, and traded stories and suggestions. The omelette was excellent as well, but it was a little runny. It needed another 60 seconds of cooking to really lock it in, but it was still tasty. The mushrooms, onions, and peppers were excellent, and the ham pieces weren't the usual "IHOP chunks" so many of us are used to. Before I left, Ally gave me a to-go menu, some info on the coffee, and a discount card to come back and try something else when the restaurant was in full swing. All in all, I loved my experience, the food was good, and the coffee was excellent. I will definitely be back for more breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. I highly recommend you stop in check it out!!

Giant portions. The food itself was a little lackluster. Not too much flavor despite throwing in every ingredient in the kitchen. We only went during breakfast hours so I can't speak to the lunch or dinner portion of it, but I doubt I'd go back to try. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito and a side of House Potatoes. The Breakfast Burrito was soggy with zero flavor. It was like I was eating a wet paper towel .The potatoes were decent, but it's a shame that that was the best part of the meal itself. We also ordered mimosas. They came in the typical champagne glass, but were REALLY expensive for what you get (if I recall correctly, about $8. They aren't on the menu). The only reason I give this place 2 stars is because it was rather clean, and the staff was really nice. We had a great waiter that came by often and kept checking up on us. The have indoor and outdoor seating and a decent sized waiting area as well. Good location and I wish it would have been better, but it just didn't ever quite get there.

This place gets a 3.8 from me because the food looks fancy, which fulfills its price standard, but doesn't taste the best, which matters most and therefore lacks its price standard. The ambiance of the place is quite nice though -- it has outside seating with a fireplace, and an area around the coffee bar with high stools for the hipsters, as well as another sit-down area for the date people. I really like to bring people here because of the charming atmosphere, even though the food could be better. I've been here on many an occasion -- hanging out with friends, mother-daughter date, student-teacher date, etc., and CHC does have pretty stable quality and service. The waiters and waitresses all have a bit of spunk to them, and they were patient and helpful with recommendations on what to get from the menu. Personally, I've had their chipotle migas, lemon pancakes, breakfast burrito, and spinach & brie sandwich. Mom had an omelette. Oh, and the latte. Can't forget about that. I think the reason why the taste let me down is that, though the menu options look appetizing, the majority of the dishes I've tried don't send me to Flavorville. The two sauces that accompanied the burrito were fresh though -- if you slather the green sauce over the gargantuan wrap, I think that'd definitely do the trick. (I would get it again.) Otherwise, their omelettes could use more salt. The pancakes could have been fluffier, but the lemon taste was light and lingering and enjoyable. This place does do their coffee well, although their "perfectly sweetened" latte (with its fancy-pants leaf art) is actually still a bit too sweet for me, and I like my coffee hotter than the average person so I ask for it to be at a higher temperature. I do appreciate the mugs that they're served in -- super cozy and something worthy of carrying the CHC name. Oh, I really like their mushroom fries! Make sure to share, otherwise it's easy to munch them all up and have no room for other food (although that really wouldn't be a problem). tl;dr: The food here isn't quite good enough for its price, in my opinion, but the atmosphere and decor is something that is one of a kind in the Plano/Dallas area, so you should come on girlfriend outings or dates because the ambiance, one would argue (I'm not that one since taste is the most important to me but hey each to their own) makes up for the dishes.

I'm so happy I came across this place! This was my first time, and this place is totally my new go to spot for brunch. Such a cute place, loved the decor, the casual vibe, and good quality great food! Our waitress was very attentive, and sweet regardless of how busy it was for a Saturday afternoon. We got a french press for coffee, which is rare to see at breakfast spots and is my favorite form of coffee, and it was perfect for two. I ordered the Chicken Sausage Hash Benedict which was very tasty, and a perfect size portion, not to much, and not to little - perfect. I will say though, I was very surprised to see it garnished with cilantro- I hate cilantro, so that sucked, but I will know for next time for sure. The boyfriend got the club, with a side of ranch. I've mentioned in previous reviews how every time my boyfriend tries to get his ranch for his club, it is forgotten. Here though, they did not forget, so huge points on his end! haha Overall we really enjoyed this place, and will def. return! -Sil

The first time I ate at the Coffee House Cafe, it was a spur of the moment. I drive past it every morning on my way to work. I ended up stopping in because my friend and I were looking for a spot for coffee other than Starbucks. After going in to get some coffee, we decided to stay and eat breakfast. At the time, I was on a low carb eating plan. I ordered the garden fresh vegetable omelet. I swapped the toast for extra slices of tomatoes. I also had a cup of their house drip coffee. Overall, the food was delicious. I will have to say it didn't exactly fill me up. If you are looking for something more substantial to start your morning off, I would choose one of their burrito options that my friend ate, which looked a little more filling. What I enjoyed most was their customer service. Yes they get busy, but each time I have gone back (about 4 times now) I have been treated with promptness and courtesy. One time, after making a request that our order was wrong, they not only fixed it, but their manager came a minute later just to offer his apologies and make sure that we were taken care of (not necessary but highly appreciated). I would highly recommend it you are looking for a good place to eat breakfast and start your day off.

Cute place. I came here on a weekday around 3:30 to meet a friend for wine and coffee. Some quick impressions: 1) The signature latte is very good. It's no Pearl Cup, but it's a contender. 2) All the single girls in Plano with Mac laptops come dominate the bar. Be sure to bring your furry purse, too. 3) Get more bar stools. One whole side of the bar has no stools and even the sides that do have too few. It was half past three on a Tuesday, and I can't catch a seat at the bar? Um...weird. 4) House sauvignon blanc was quite decent, as was the hummus. Happy hour starts at 2 and both these items were $4. NICE. 4a) WHY do places think chicks are into chardonnay?! STOP IT. STOP MAKING THE HOUSE WINE CHARDONNAY. Sorry. That's a major pet peeve of mine and CHC at least offers a sauvignon blanc as well, so good on them. I'm just ranting. 5) Fantastic server, she was very attentive. Other Yelpers give me the impression service is VERY hit or miss but our lady was great. I'd come back to kill some afternoon time over some affordable wine and be willing to fight the trendy Mac girls for bar space. Plus I'm keen to try the chipotle migas sometime.

Do yourself a huge favor and call ahead to reserve your table for Sunday brunch! It was packed! So glad I peeped the menu online because I knew to call first and also knew exactly what I wanted to order. Crabcakes Benedict = game changer! They also have a full bar and delicious coffees! The signature latte (I get mine with soy) was tasty with just the right amount of frothiness! Server was quick, friendly and attentive. Please believe I will be back to try more goodness!

After hearing about this place from so many of my clients I decided to finally check it out. Walked in at 11am on Sunday morning for brunch, and there was about a 45 minute wait. I didn't mind that though, I was just excited to try out this restaurant. Unfortunately, I was highly disappointed in the food. The fried mushrooms were not too bad if you like excessive oil filled food and my eggs were bland and watery! Also, the coffee looked great, but can't say the same about the taste. I definitely would not recommend this place unless you like bland tasteless food. Yes, it was that bad.

It's close to my school and near where I spend most of my time so I've been here a lot. Considering it's in the suburbs... I give it 4 stars for consistently bringing me back. But I still have a few things to say. The vibe is good and the food is decent. I've had their tacos, burgers, paninis, reubens, a lot of their breakfast items, the infamous lemon ricotta pancakes (honestly their most original and best), crab cakes, dips, etc. Most are pretty forgetful which is the reason why the lemon ricotta pancake is the only one I remember the name of. But I haven't had anything horrendous like some of these other people have... Then again I don't ask for special requests either. Their coffee... Eh. I will say I'm disappointed since the name of this place is coffee house lol. Sometimes I get burnt coffee, other times, my cappuccino doesn't taste right. They've got the signature house latte going for them but it tastes more or less sweet every time. The baristas have recently enjoyed doing some latte art and making cold brew, which is something to look forward to. But have I had better coffee? Oh yeah. But caffeine is caffeine. When I need it, I gotta have it. Also, they open a tab for you when you order coffee and when you do, they expect you to tip when you leave. One time, my coffee was $5.something and I gave him $11 cash to get a $5 bill back with some change but instead he gave me 5 ones lol. If I wanted 5 ones, I obviously would've given him just the ten.. Sigh. I do usually tip even though I wouldn't have to if I just went to another coffee shop... But I got annoyed that day and didn't bother. Some of the things I enjoy about this place? Their live music on weekends. It's really hard to find consistent live music venues in the suburbs but coffee house is dedicated. During the summer time, the music is out on the patio and you can join everyone having a good time outside. The music is nothing heavy. They rarely have a full band and when they do, it's usually outside. Most of the time, it's a guy with a guitar or a gal with a mature voice and piano. I've come here to hang out with friends or study by myself. The service is sometimes a miss. I've had several times when I've felt like I've been rushed to get out of there. Another time, the waiter asked us how our food was like every minute while dripping sweat everywhere with his eyes bulging out, so that was weird. As a regular that sits at the bar to do some hw, I do have a small problem with the staff here. There is WAY too much drama going on between these workers. I guess it comes with hiring high school students? I don't know what it is, but their drama and presence is overwhelming. There are usually about 2, if not more, workers sitting around the bar with me while I'm working? And they are so busy talking to each other about idk what. But this is probably the reason why all their other customers are unhappy with the service. This gossipy atmosphere amongst the employees makes this place very uncomfortable and annoying. Manager needs to step up and tell his high school hostess to stop running over to the bearded bartender/barista every chance she gets then grudgingly slide out of her bar chair and walk back to the hostess stand when customers walk in through the door. Other than that, the business is still booming despite their 3 1/2 stars. They recently opened a drive thru which is cool but it really messed up the direction of traffic around the building. Hope no one gets in an accident here because their arrows are unclear/doesn't make sense.

The only redeeming quality I've found about this place was the service. Everyone is super friendly, and I hope that they get recognized for that. However, I found myself ordering more food trying to find something that was edible. The french press is grimy, and the beignets... well, they just need to be taken off the menu all together.

We've been here countless times and have always left feeling happy. Their signature latte is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! And you can order with Almond Milk, which makes this dairy-free lady very happy (although coconut milk would be even better- hint hint). I love to order the spinach and mushroom omelet- it's the best thing on the menu in my humble opinion ;) The potatoes are sooooo good. I get my toddler a gluten-free pancake, and it's DELiSH!!! I've snagged some bites here and there ;) Love that they accommodate guten-free and dairy-free people. That's a Huge win and my book and I love to support restaurants that go above and beyond.

From the other reviews, I really wasn't sure what to expect from this place. I am surprised to find that I can't really find fault with it, though. I felt the need to go twice before writing a review, in part because I had a good experience the first time and thought it might be a fluke, but also because I just really enjoyed it. The ambiance is great - bustling on a Saturday afternoon, but not loud. I never felt rushed, but had no issues with service, either. The longest I waited for a table during Saturday lunch rush was maybe 10 minutes. I've seen people complaining here about the wait, but I'm wondering if they have ever had brunch anywhere else in Dallas on a Saturday. I started with the "house signature latte" - if a menu touts something as their signature item, obviously I have to try it. It was delicious, but calorifically dense. the next time I just got a plain latte (also delicious). Bliss. The coffee is really very good, and it ought to be, given the name of the place. As much as I want to try the famed french toast sandwich, it scares me a little. So I had the lemon ricotta pancakes, which were pretty good (extra lemon, please). On my second visit, the manager Cody was very helpful when we couldn't decide what to order. I ended up going with the challah french toast, which he boasted would be "the best french toast you've ever had." I immediately warned him that was an extremely bold claim (anyone who's ordered breakfast room service at the Bellagio would know better... there is no beating Vegas, sorry). I have to be honest, especially because of that boast: It was good french toast. Craveable, even. But there is better to be had, even in Dallas - La Duni and Nick & Sam's come to mind. Coffee House Cafe, if you want to brag that you have the best french toast ever, you better jazz it up a bit. Add some cinnamon or Nutella or something. (¿Por que no los dos?) Still... it was good, and I would be lying if I said I didn't eat it all. And a little confident banter is fun. I'd say what sets this place apart is definitely the coffee, which makes sense. Summing it up: good coffee, good food, nice atmosphere, cute manager, fair prices. I have no complaints. Given that, and barring any lapses in future service, Coffee House Cafe is going on my list as a potential brunch spot any time the need arises.

My girlfriend brought me to Coffee House Cafe for brunch on my birthday. We went inside, but there was a short wait for a table so we opted to sit outside. It was pretty warm, but the patio area is covered and its ventilated quite well so we didn't get too hot. I ordered a Americano, and it was excellent! Very rich and bold. We got a plate of beignets, which were OK. These were definitely the worst part of the meal. I ordered the shrimp and grits which were a hit. The grits were flavorful and creamy. The shrimp were cooked perfectly. I really loved the gravy that they poured on top. Very tasty with a slightly spicy kick to it. The service was just OK. It kind of felt like we were forgotten out on the patio. It was packed inside, so that's probably why, but we did notice. When the wait staff was there, they were friendly and did their job. This is a real good spot for the food, kind of so-so for the service. If I lived closer I probably would visit on a regular basis.

Very good strong coffee. Eggs benedict with chipotle hollandaise sauce were awesome. My husband's breakfast burrito was excellent. It had just the right ratio of egg-to-other ingredients. Service was right on the mark despite being very busy.

I came here on a Saturday around 11:30 and the wait was only about 10-15 minutes. Not too bad. Upon walking in, I liked the decorations and such around the bar, bit they seated us in an enclosed room to the side that was pretty plain. Boring! :( I had the House Benedict (two poached cage-free eggs, italian pancetta, challah bread, hollondaise and hash potatoes). The eggs were cooked well and and the pancetta was pretty crispy. The hash potatoes could use some kind of vegetable to go with it though. I also had the Signature House Latte, but it was slighty bitter. I'd go here again for the breakfast food, but not for a latte.

The name of the restaurant is a little deceiving. This is a restaurant that does breakfast. It's not a place to drink a latte while you work alone on your laptop.

I went on a Sunday at about noon with my husband and my 15 yr old daughter. Their house latte was awesome. That came out pretty quick and I'm already longing for another one. The art work on the latte was on point too. I would definitely go back for the latte. Their sweet potato like tots were to die for. I do love the atmosphere though. They allowed dogs for outdoor dining as well.

I often frequent the Coffee House Cafe because they have great coffee. I love the atmosphere and the friendly service. Another bonus is that they allow dogs out on the patio. My favorite dish there is the portabella mushroom fries! I have two grievances about the place. (1) the seafood (crab cakes) are not very fresh. It tasted very fishy and not as spectacular as I had hoped. (2) the portions are fairly small so I do not think it is a great value. The food is a bit pricey for the amount of food they give you.

I always love it here. I had some beignets and the breakfast burrito with sausage. Beignets were light fluffy and yummo! The burrito was full of lots of goodness...beans, cheese, sausage, egg, veggies! I could not evem finish half! It's a good one to share if I want ur breakfast fix but are not that hungry!

Great alternative to Cafe Brazil or Buzzbrews I eat at both of those places often and wanted to try some place new. I ordered the french toast sandwich. The french toast was great, nice hefty french toast slices and non-overdone eggs and bacon. Has a hint of syrup blended into the slices which was good for non-sweet tooth people. But for me, dipping it into syrup turned into a party in my mouth. My friend ordered the Chicken Sausage hash. He seemed to enjoy it alot. I was able to take a picture before he ate it all. All in all. If there were more locations i'd eat there more often.

I've been here a couple of times and every time I order coffee, it comes lukewarm. I'm not sure if they don't steam the milk enough or make it pipping hot, end up being worried I'll burn my mouth and let it sit out for a while... Food's not bad. I can't say I have a favorite though, but do try their lemon ricotta pancakes! (see my photos) :)

My favorite place for brunch and to take clients for a casual lunch. Good wholesome food at a reasonably price. One of the few restaurants that actually squeezes their own "Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice." Sit in the bar area to be attended to by Michael. His service was right on with just the right amount of attention when we needed it. Definitely coming back here on a regular basis.

So far this has been the best place for brunch since I've been here in Dallas. Since that was my first meal of the day (it was after 1pm - 2pm if I was back in NY) I had the Farmer's breakfast. With the help of hot sauce, ketchup, salt and pepper it tasted good. The cheesy grits......yeh, it didn't win me over once again, I rather have plain grits with melted butter, keep it simple. In addition to the farmer's breakfast, and the grits on the side (yes i was a hungry girl) I ordered a single lemon ricotta pancake. Superb! Very light for a pancake and the flavor was perfect. I highly recommend it. The latte was delicious it was quite strong but had great flavor. Great spot for breakfast if I come back to visit!

Went for an early dinner and ordered guacamole/chips as an appetizer, which was average. Then, ordered the turkey avocado panini with French fries, which I didn't eat much of. The fries were very thin and tasted like the frozen variety that had barely been warmed up. Nothing exciting about the sandwich but then it is just a sandwich. 3 stars for the good company, ambience, and excellent house latte (pic added). I'll have to come back for breakfast (and more coffee for sure).

The ambiance was the saving grace. It's a beautiful Saturday night. Me and my friend were seated at the table close to the fireplace outside. Beautiful. There were maybe 6 patrons inside and 4 couples outside. Very slow night so I thought it was perfect. Pros: -Food was plated beautifully and came out fairly quickly. -Tables were nice and neat. Cons: -Waited 10 minutes before our waitress made an appearance. -Waited 10 more minutes before I received my mint coffee (which was cold when I got it) -Rum and coke ordered at the beginning of the meal, didn't receive it until we were done eating. The manager delivered the drink but had this negative demeanor about him. THEN SUDDENLY our waitress appeared out of nowhere stating, "My manager is giving me a hard time. Can I see your ID?" -There were other patrons who were having an issue receiving their food and drinks within a reasonable amount of time. But I reiterate, the ambiance is SUPER nice. However, I have no idea what's going on with the wait staff and management though. Foodwise: -Shrimp and grits were delicious! -Steak and eggs were nothing special. The eggs were just, eggs. The steak tasted as if it were seasoned by someone NOT familiar with Texas chicken fried steak protocol (Waaaay under-seasoned). And the gravy would have been okay but I truly believe I tasted cumin in there somewhere which gave it that funky, off-putting taste that cumin can give in the wrong element. Potatoes were just oil, salt, and rosemary. Nothing special. -Lemon ricotta pancakes were just pancakes with lemony essence. Would've been great with a thin cream cheese lemon saucey thang.... Not maple syrup. BUT! The food was plated beautifully! I'll venture here again just to make sure tonight wasn't a fluke. And it truly may have been... Addendum: I gave our waitress a credit card and she brought back the receipt to be signed without the card. I signed the receipt, gave her a generous tip, and went inside to get my card. I had to wait for them to find my credit card. Then, I was outside in the parking lot talking to my friend for a minute when our waitress came after us and asked if she gave us the ticket to be signed. I told her to go look on the table where we left the booklet she gave us. Then she just kind of looked as if she lacked all kinds of insight. Not sure what our waitress may have been going through, but I don't care. I pay for good food and service. Not for the debacle we witnessed tonight.

French toast breakfast sandwhich- Yes, it's a real thing and it's as amazing as it sounds. Bacon, one egg, and cheese served between two slices of french toast :) It really was delicious! Make sure you dip it in syrup! Yummm. The brunch potatoes it is served with are delicious as well! Have a nice spice to them :) I order their famous coffee thing(can't remember the name! Oops! But it's like the coffee house latte or something along those lines.) anyways, it was alright. Not worth the $7 or $8 in my opinion. Next time I'll try the regular house coffee with free refills.. :)

Beware: everyone wants to have brunch here so try to call ahead or prepare for a wait. But know that the atmosphere of the cafe is one you will enjoy waiting at. The wooden design, people hustling and bustling everywhere, and people also relaxing enjoying their coffee with the newspaper. The service is great! I actually came with a large group so we were placed in a nice seperated party room. My friends checked into four square and you receive a coupon for one free dish of benigets! They were light, fluffy and covered with much powdered sugar. All the breakfast dishes looked amazing and tasted very homemade like fresh ingredients. It's all delicious!

We came here for a nice cup of coffee and some yummy food. I never knew this place existed. I walked in and just love the ambience. The feel of this place was cozy. We were seated quickly. I started off with their Signature Latte. Oh my, I took a sip and this had to be one of the best lattes I've had in a very long time. It wasn't too sweet and it was just perfect. Meal wise, I ended up ordering the Ham and Cheese sandwich with a cup of tomato basil. The soup was piping hot. I loved it! It was creamy and had a really good flavor. The sandwich was just fantastic. The ham was thick cut and there was a perfect amount of cheese. Our waiter was very attentive. I can't wait to come back here to sip on a latte and try other items off the menu.

This is my breakfast go to in Dallas. Coffee is solid, Migas are great, and the French toast is classic. I've never reviewed a place on yelp before, but I was so upset this place had such low reviews, I had to put my two cents in. Great place!

I gave the lemon ricotta pancakes another try, and I wanted to love them, but I just couldn't. Maybe I just keep coming in on bad days (I've only been here twice), but both times I've had them, I've found them to be a little dry and in need of a little more lemon. That being said, I think Coffee House Cafe has other things going for it -- the challah french toast sandwich is pretty good (don't forget to add syrup!), and the prices are great.

I so love updating a review after a bad experience with good news on a second visit. CHC truly redeemed itself on this dining experience. I met a friend for brunch on a Sunday afternoon around 1300. I arrived a little early and put our names on the list for a table. Around 1300, I was "buzzed" and although my dining companion had not arrived, I was seated in a comfy two person booth as I told them he was on the way. And, here comes friendly, cheery, charming Maria, our server. I asked her to watch for my friend and then we'd place our drink orders. She was most accommodating and returned as soon as she saw him join me at the table. We ordered a Pinot Grigio for me and a brew for him. Drinks promptly delivered even though the bar scene was quite busy. (Didn't order the Mimosas because thought they were a little pricey @ $4 (or maybe $5 each) I chose poached eggs, grits and Rye toast; friend had the Farmhouse; two eggs, sausage, house potatoes and toast. My meal was delicious; eggs perfectly cooked, grits creamy, smooth & cheesy, such a wonderful treat for my palate. Couldn't finish it all so some of those delectable grits traveled home for another chow down later. There was silence at our table as we dove in fork first for a truly wonderful brunch. Friend apparently enjoyed his meal as not a morsel was left on the plate. Food - a strong 4 stars. Love the ambiance of this place. The raised dining area was quite cozy and removed enough from the fast paced bar area so as not to distract from a pleasant get together. The patio looks fantastic but was a little too warm for comfort to sit outside. Service by Maria was exemplary; She checked on us just enough to reassure that we were being well taken care of. Her pleasant smile and those twinkling eyes were just adorable. Service over the top 5+ stars. Pricing - reasonable for quality and quantity. 4 stars. So, drum roll, cymbals crashing....two stars (1st review) rolling up to 4 !! Only 4 because this was our first meal here. Saw many options I am craving to try, and I'll bet that will garner CHC a full 5 stars. And, we'll be sure and ask for Maria! Note - this spot was removed from my list of "sadly, places that disappointed me" to "brunch, give me more with bloody marys and mimosas".

Love everything about this place! I wasn't sure what to expect but my husband had been here a couple of times and really enjoyed his experiences. We sat at the bar and had incredible service. I had the veggie omelet(fresh and delicious), he had the pancakes and scrambled eggs. Yum! We also had coffee, which they were constantly on the refills, fresh and hot. The atmosphere was good, absolutely no complaints. I fail to see a reason why many ppl gave a rating below a 4. We will be back! It's a definitely a hidden gem in dallas.

So I am just about to pass out at work since is so bored. So is around lunch time, why not go grab a cup of coffee. Well I chose coffee house cafe since is only 10 mins away from my work place. So I went there. Oh, there is a drive thur, perfect since all I need is a cup of coffee. So I order a signature Latte which was recommended by the cute Asian girl who was taking my order, I also get a blueberry pastry with it. Well I think that the signature Latte was really good(maybe it was made by the girl), It did wake me up(not sure if is the latte or the girl:) lol. I will definitely return there if I need a coffee next time.

I will say this up front.....I'm not sure where all the negative reviews have come from. My BF and I came here for Saturday breakfast, and it has immediately been added to our list of regular spots. The atmosphere is simultaneously classy and relaxing. Walking in, you immediately see the bar/coffee bar. The feature of which is a very high end steam powered espresso machine. Always a mark of a high end coffee establishment. We were initially told that the wait would be 20 minutes. Then the hostess asked us first about our seating preference. Less than 5 minutes later, we were seated at the bar. Let me say this. If you like coffee, and don't order it here, you are insane. It was easily some of the best coffee I've had since moving to Dallas 4 years ago. We ordered the Beignets as an appetizer, and I got the Spinach/Mushroom omelet. From the time we ordered, the beignets came out within 5 minutes, and the rest of the food came out well before we had a chance to finish them. The quality of the food was pretty good too. The beignets were just light and airy enough while still having a good density to them. The house potatoes were well roasted and had good flavor from the fresh herbs used on them. My only gripe about the food was the ham I had added to the omelet. There was a whole lot of it, and it looked and tasted like sliced deli ham. For a $2 addition, I was a bit disappointed. Overall, I would definitely recommend trying them if you like eating out for breakfast. Definitely find them superior to Cafe Brazil.

Overall: We found a new brunch place! Great coffee and the sweet potato tots are awesome. There may be a wait though if you don't get there early enough. Atmosphere: We went Sunday morning (11ish) and it was difficult to find parking. Not because there wasn't a good size lot, but because there was already a wait of at least 30-40 minutes. Aside from that, friendly staff and relatively quick service for the large crowd. Food: Signature house latte and sweet potato tots are a must, specifically the tots. The French toast sandwich was a good mix of sweet and savory. It wasn't too heavy and rich either. The chicken apple sausage hash was a relatively healthy alternative for the Benedict portions.

I really liked this place. My daughter had the signature French Toast Sandwich, my Wife had the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and I had the herb and goat cheese omelette with caramelized onions. All super delicious and would recommend depending on your mood - want sweet and citrus? Lemon pancakes!, sweet tooth? Go with French toast sandwich - savory? Try the omelette. You can't lose with any of these. As a side were some of the most delicious rosemary herbed house potatoes. I recommend these as well. We had the signature Latte Coffee and I was very good too. The wait for our table Saturday morning was about 7 minutes, we were seated in a great booth. Our waitress Maria was amazing - very attentive and knowledgable (actually recommended the omelette to me). Only drawback? Maybe a little pricey $10.99 for French toast sandwich... Wife, daughter and I got out for $51.41 for breakfast.

I always get the garden fresh veggie omelet and add some kick with Jalapenos and then like to dirty it up with sausage or bacon. It's amazing. Josh is our favorite server. Never had anything bad here. Go and enjoy.

This place used to be one of my favorites but it has gradually gone down hill in my opinion. I love the idea of it but its not working. Very inconsistent is my first complaint, each I visit there is an issue...cold food, poor/slow service, wrong orders, out of certain menu items. Tonight I ordered the wedge and beef tips medium rare. It took forever and then they were brought at the same time although it didn't matter because the beef tips (all 7 bites) were over done but cold?? When I mentioned to waitress that I was expecting the salad prior to my meal she looked at me like I was crazy (am I?). I left feeling disappointed once again and it bums be out because I really want to like this place but something is broken.

Does anyone else notice how terrible the coffee and lattes are through the drive through. I know it sounds crazy but follow me if you will. I ddrove through the other day and ordered a drip coffee. And when they served it to me they gave me a medium instead of a small and I was super excited. then I took a sip as I was driving away. It was ice cold. Then again I went through the drive-through and ordered a latte and it tasted like burned milk. It just keeps happening and yet I keep going. Why do I keep going? I took some time to think about this and I probably analyzed it we more than I should. I mean everyone knows the service is absolutely terrible at this place. He had to take the attitude I guess if you want to get a couple coffee. The current hostess can't evengreet you when you walk in the door. She finishes her useless conversations with fellow coworkers and addresses you when she's ready. It just comes with the territory if you want lemon ricotta pancakes. But what ticks me off the mostis the fact that my hard-earned cash goes down the drain when I can even get a freaking decent cup of coffee at a place called coffeehouse if I don't take the time to go inside. Now it's important to note the service at the drive-through is flawless. They have a way of making you feel really great about yourself even though you're spending five dollars for a small latte. That is until you driveway, take a sip, and regret and disappointment set in. Just a bit of of ice coffee house. The coffee should be consistent rather I walk in or drive-through if you want my dollars. Whoever handles the service at the window should be training your staff inside. I know there's someone there managing the place I just want to be able to feel it through the service. I have hopes that one day I can choose to walk in or drive through in my experience will be great but not today and that makes me sad.

This is a breakfast, lunch, and dinner cafe. The patio by default is my favorite place to sit. It's a covered patio with a fireplace and the patio is dog friendly. I love it when people bring their dogs here. I think their breakfast menu is far superior than the lunch and dinner. They have a great coffee menu with dairy free milk and the lattes are made by people who know about coffee. For breakfast I'd recommend the migas and the benedicts. Last night I came by for dinner and had the Chicken Schnitzel and it was delicious. The green beans that came with it were completely unsalted and tasted bland. Otherwise, I enjoyed the meal. The peach tea is very tasty and refreshing. Come here with a book. Come here with a friend. Oh, and you may catch someone playing live music in the main dining area. It's a very chilled place. Also, ask for Josh, he will take care of you.

We placed another order here for pickup on a Sunday. This was my order: Turkey, Bacon, and Avocado Panini Spinach and Mushroom Omelet with Tomatoes instead of Mushrooms and Fruit instead of Potatoes We were told the order would be ready in 15-20 minutes. I arrived to pick up the order 20 mins later and Melli told me that they had just put the order in and it would be an additional 20 mins. When I asked her what the issue was, she got moody with me and said that it's because you guys are very busy and didn't have time to put my order in. She was very ugly. She also told me that the manager would bring the food to me, but that never happened. I was so ready to leave, that I didn't bother to put in a complaint. Well, we got home and saw that there were no tomatoes in the omelet. We also received potatoes instead of fruit, yet we were charged $2 for the substitution. We had such a bad experience today, that I have a very sour taste in my mouth about your establishment. The service was horrible and we didn't receive what we ordered and didn't eat the omelet or the potatoes. I won't ever return! There is no excuse for this kind of horrible service.

Worst. Service. Ever. 1) We had to wait an hour...but that would have been fine had everything else been good. 2) Took us 45 minutes AFTER we sat down to get our latte. 3) They came and told us they ran out of coffee cups...ummmm really? Check out your name...might need to stock up more. 4) Hair in one of our dishes. 5) Mom ordered - - first time her food came it was wrong. Second time her food came it was not cooked. She ended up splitting with me. I read other reviews that said similar things about needs to have a better trained staff, that acts like they care. I couldn't agree more. They'd better start paying attention to what people are saying or they will be one of the many Dallas restaurants that has no chance of survival.

We needed a beignet fix, and so found ourselves sitting at the bar at Coffee House Cafe. The beignets were good - came out piping hot and weren't drowning in powdered sugar. They were a bit inconsistent, though -- some fluffy and some flat -- and the shape of them made me think that they weren't homemade (??). I meant to ask but forgot. We had two cafe au laits which were great -- couldn't quite figure out why they were a little bit foamy, though -- a little bit latte-ish for some reason. That aside, the flavor was perfect. A nice roast on the beans, for sure. A word of caution -- the kitchen closes at 3:00 on Sundays. (Sure would love for them to re-think those hours.)

Great service and delicious coffee! I have been to the Coffee House Cafe three times, while visiting Plano. The service has always been great and the food doesn't disappoint. We also never had to wait more than a few minutes for a table. I have tried two of their omelettes, the Fresh Herb and Spinach & Mushroom. Both were great! The eggs were fluffy, the filing to egg ratio was perfect, and the home fries were tasty as well. We also ordered the beignets and they were good. They weren't quite as delicious as I was hoping, but good nonetheless. Maybe we should have said yes to the honey, that would have made them tasty, I'm sure. Go for the honey if you order them! Also, if you're a coffee drinker, try their Signature House Latte. I had it in decaf on my last visit and it was just as delicious. This is definitely a place that I would recommend. I look forward to going back!

Ask to sit in Josh's section. He is the most attentive and charismatic waiter. Ask about his adorable baby girl! The only thing I don't like about coffee house is one of their manager. I heard him gripe out one of the waiters I ASKED to sit down and talk to me. Part of the experience my husband and I like is talking to the people at coffee house. Getting to know them and cultivating that relationship. It makes our experience less satisfying when that is discouraged. We would go to fast food if we wanted in and out. Atmosphere is great, coffee is delicious, and food is great. Amanda is another great hostess/waitress. She's fun and makes us feel special.

Dang this place has gotten really popular. It's by my office. The parking lot is always packed. Now they have a drive thru window and the cars are lined up all the way around the block. Maybe just around the building, not all the way around the block. But they could be all the way around the block if there were more cars. Anyway, my daughter Kendall loves this place. Me, I think it's okay, if a bit overpriced, but not by too much. I'm a cheapskate, and not very discerning; I like buffets, so take this review with a grain of salt. And maybe some allspice. The food is good, I've had the Wedge Salad, which was very wedgie, and the Reuben was great! Kendall usually gets something.... I don't know, the Scottish Salmon or something (sorry for my memory, I started this review two or three months ago, and my initial notes read "Gggggh", which wasn't much to go on). Anyway I know she usually gets the same thing and she likes it a lot. Atmosphere-wise, it's really nice, it's all brick and stone and heavy timber and the booths are big and comfy. The hostesses and waitstaff have always been very nice and attentive. Honestly I don't know why I only give four stars, it's just really not my kind of place. I'm more of a hamburger joint kind of guy, not a salad and fancy coffee kind of guy. But it really is a nice place with good food. Kudos to Coffee House Cafe, and to the people in the cars ringing the building and not enjoying the nice atmosphere inside. You're so busy and important!

I love Coffee House Cafe. It's within walking distance from my house and I love walking there for brunch on the weekends. Their house drip coffee is one of my favorites and I drink about 3-4 cups of it every time I go. The french toast sandwich and breakfast flatbread are amazing dishes, I definitely recommend trying them. I think the only thing I've tried that I haven't been impressed with are the beignets, but that's because I'm from Louisiana. No one really knows how to make beignets outside of Louisiana. :) Regardless, I appreciate the free wifi and bar table area that I can walk in and sit at without having to wait for a table. Servers are usually pretty friendly.

Breakfast. I have three words for you: Lemon. Ricotta. Pancakes. I go here on cheat days just for these pancakes. I live 40 minutes away. There is a reason I have to come all the way here. YYYUUUUUMMMM! Also the eggs benedict ain't bad. But like, pancakes. Just do it.

This place has an amazing house latte (sweet)! The food is good and the atmosphere is really cool. They have a great outdoor patio with fireplace. They also allow dogs which is awesome. There will be a wait time for weekend breakfast but usually less than 20min. Sometimes the service is a bit chaotic and one time we ended up with 4 sides of bacon instead of one (a good mistake). We have had some grumpy servers as well but nothing too serious. Good items are the breakfast burrito, kale salad, soups and sanwiches.

This place never disappoints. I have been here with a group of 20 something people and twice with just a party of two. Service was always fast and professional. Everything is very tasty. You can't go wrong with anything you order! I hate breakfast foods but this place opened by heart to eggs and all that morning food. The signature latte is also very delicious. I checked in on foursquare and i got free beignets- sugar powdered french doughnuts!

Had this place feature a drive through or even coffee pick up service I'd lose my Starbucks gold card fast. But seriously, if I have time to actually enjoy my coffee, I'd pick Coffee House Cafe any day. Food-wise, stick to breakfast, brunch and sandwiches. I've figure out that I like almost anything on their menu except for heavier entrees. Their sirloin beef tips dish was tiny and disappointing, same for the fish options. I definitely recommend the lemon ricotta pancakes, all flatbread options are fantastic, turkey avocado panini, and the 2 burgers. Service is hit or miss. There are times when the hostess seems to be bothered by guess, waiters who don't even try faking a smile. But then there are days when they are all super friendly and helpful. Expect slow service during peak time however. Even on an average day, plan for extra time to get your food. Try both the booth and the patio - each space has its own charm. Overall, if I have time to spare this is a must stop for my coffee/light brunch break.

Always ask for Josh. He actually cares about his tables waiting too long. Still, this place is only getting 3 stars because the bar is awful and the kitchen will mess up at least one entree on your table. The bartenders will make eye contact and literally pretend they didn't see you. When they finally get your order, it will still take 10 minutes to make your drink. You actually see them standing around with their hands by their sides when they should be making your drink. And don't be surprised if the female bartender yells at the other servers about not having time to make your drinks. If you modify your entree don't be surprised if they completely disregard it. Also never come here if you don't have 30 minutes to wait.

Before I write my review I should note that since it was Easter Sunday, you can expect a lot of places to be packed. This was no exception. We were told the wait time was 20-25 minutes so decided to wait. I grabbed drinks from the bar and sat back and waited...and waited, and it didn't seem that long really before getting seated. A quick glance through the menu and I saw this menu wasn't really my type of menu. What I would call "fru-fru food". Anyway, I decided on the ham & cheese omelette and asked for sausage to be added. Other members in the party had the crab cake benedict and seemed to enjoy them. Me, however, wasn't impressed with the omelette. First, it came out barely warm. It had obviously been cooked and left sitting. Considering the wait for the food must have been about 30 minutes, I wasn't about to send it back, or I may never see it again, and I was on a time crunch too. The sausage looked it was minced sausage out of a package and just cooked then added. I was expecting something to get my teeth into rather than tiny bits of meat floating around between the eggs. A member of the party ordered a drink and it never came, seems it may have been delivered to another table. Finally, our server tried not to show it but she did seem a little impatient to take our order and move on. Again, probably because it was busy she wanted to move tables. Finally, they were out of a dessert one of the party wanted. Overall, seemed a little rushed to order, then took forever to get tepid food. There's nothing on the menu that's screaming at me to come back, so it's unlikely I'll be making a return visit.

Great food, coffee and ambience. We ordered quite a bit of food but I'll only share the dishes/drinks worth coming back for. Signature cafe latte, French press coffee, granola pancake ( add pecan and fruit), breakfast burrito, sweet potato tater tots, truffle fries and shrimp and grits. Definitely plan on coming back. We also ordered the challah French toast sandwich but had mixed reviews on that. I thought it was too soggy but my husband liked it. There's a wait so make sure to come early, make a reservation or get ready to wait.

I came here for breakfast and dinner, and both times, I was very pleased. I've driven by this place countless times, but I never knew it would have such a dark and cool interior! I've only sat in the booths, but the bar area looks pretty nice. I had doubts coming here at first since it looks a bit run down from the outside, but I am so glad I did. For breakfast, I ordered the Spinach and Mushroom omelette. It was a decent portion that filled me up but didn't leave me bloated. What I really enjoyed was how clean and healthy it tasted/made me feel. I guess I'm so used to IHOP omelettes being smothered in some kind of sauce that this omelette was so surprising and refreshing. If I remember correctly, I don't think the omelette came with any sauce. For dinner, my friend and I came right as happy hour was about to end, so we decided on the spot to order the Shrimp Cocktail and Dip Duo (both were $4). I was intrigued with the Shrimp Cocktail's presentation; they put all 5 or 6 of the shrimp in a martini glass, filled the glass up with cocktail sauce, and topped it off with some sliced avocados (love it!). It tasted like regular shrimp cocktail, but I would have preferred it come with more shrimp. The Dip Duo was good but nothing too special. We both ordered the Grilled Brie, and I thought it was delicious. As a huge fan of grilled cheese and brie, this was a perfect combination for me. The sandwich was a hefty size after having appetizers, but it was totally worth finishing. They definitely did not skimp on the amount of brie, and I'm very happy about that. Honestly, I could have done without the appetizers, just had this sandwich, and still left as a happy customer. As for service, it was fine. The waitress was attentive enough for my taste. They also had some live music when I was there. Bottom line: I know I'll definitely go back whenever I return to Dallas.

Amazing service and delicious food. Had the chicken sausage hash with poached eggs and topped off with a vanilla latte. I will be coming back to try pretty much everything else on the menu. Cage free eggs and fair trade coffee. :) if you love food and coffee check this place out. Prices are great for the quality of food.

I lived a few miles away from Coffee House Cafe for years before I got to try it. I regret that it took so long! I always get the breakfast here and my wife will switch between breakfast and dinner. They have great drinks, and for those non coffee lovers, awesome hot chocolate. The pancakes are the best of anywhere I go to. I have taken several friends here, and they always come back

I, like other Coffee House customers, have a lot to say about this place. First, the good: The food is always quite tasty. I've had the beignets, the bagel and lox, crab cakes, the bagel sandwich, and the french toast sandwich. The roasted potatoes are my favorite. The crab cakes are also quite good, but I recommend getting the hollandaise on the side (it tends to be a little much). The atmosphere is also nice, if not a bit loud, but still thoroughly enjoyable. There is also free wi-fi and a great outdoor seating area (with a fire going when it's chilly) Now, the bad: I've harped on this in other reviews, but my biggest pet peeve in restaurants is consistency. If I order a coffee every time I come in, I expect it to not range from watered-down to burned nor lukewarm to boiling. The only consistency with the coffee is that the waiters always spill it on my table. Seriously. Which brings me to waitstaff. Okay, I get it, they're always busy, but seriously, where did the owner find these people?! They range from almost clingy and annoyingly overattentive to "are they still here?" and seem to be very forgetful (too many tables?) I've had food come out no sooner than the order came out of my mouth and I've had food take 30 minutes. There is very little consistency here. Also, the prices are a bit hoity toity, considering I pay more to eat here than my favorite brunch haunt in Highland Park. Something's not right about this picture.

Love this place! There's rarely a wait and the staff is always friendly. The breakfast potatoes are on point and my girlfriend is in love with their house lattes.

The atmosphere is relaxed, food is consistently good. Love the coffee and brunch here. But what makes them worthy of the rating is the service. I come back because I know they'll get to me quickly without ever making me feel rushed.

Nice restaurant, good decor, comfortable. There was no wait on a nice Saturday morning, so that was nice. The waiter was good, made recommendations and got our food out quick and correctly. But I go to restaurants for the food, and that's where this place lost me. My omelette was good, but making an omelette isn't hard. My wife's Eggs Benedict was not good. The eggs were over cooked. If you're going to be a good breakfast restaurant, you better be good at the tough stuff. They got it wrong.

My friends introduced me to this restaurant as I am so glad they did! The tilapia was absolutely fantastic. And the chicken schnitzel was so tender you could easily cut it with your fork. Portability mushroom appetizer and tomato basil soup also absolutely yummy! And make sure you save room for desert. The brownie was perfect. Crunchy in all the right places with just the right blend of fudgy and cakey.

The food looks good. It tastes good. And the place is packed. So it has to be good, right? For the reasons above, I give it 3 stars. My personal one-time experience was about 1-star. I waited 40 minutes to be seated. And then another 45 minutes at the table. After that hour & a half wait for brunch, I would have raved about a Braum's breakfast sandwich. But the manager, after much discussion, waived the bill for my disgruntled group of 5. So I couldn't give less than 3-stars after that, could I? I've heard from others in my group that the wait is often that way. So I'd say go ahead and try it. But don't show up hungry.

Worst experience of my life (and I was in the service industry for 7 years - from being a waitress/bartender and then on to fine dining establishments to get through college/grad school). My boyfriend and I wanted to stop on a leisurely Sunday afternoon for some iced green tea. The barista was sweet enough to steep the bag and then ice it - so things started out well! I told her she really didn't have to but the manager was like "oh we'd love to" (it wasn't a standard item). Then we decided it looked like an ok place so we'd have a late lunch. We ordered a cob salad without any bleu cheese and with a side of honey mustard and then split a panini, hold the mayo (cutting cals!). Food comes out with blue cheese and the bacon dressing... Not a big deal. Picked off the bleu cheese then asked for a side of honey mustard. We are then given a side of blue cheese lol ok, whatever... We're pretty easy going. The manager or owner or whoever kept coming up to us and telling us how the eggs are cage free and all this jazz since she knew it was our first time - she personally brings us a side of honey mustard. It was weird cuz the barista after 5 minutes never even came to ask if everything came out ok (fail...). We also waited for a side of ketchup for 10 minutes (so maybe not cutting all the cals... But it's cool). The wait staff seemed standoffish so we were kinda taken aback until the barista mentions "oh the staff gets lazy toward the end of the day" (btw, it was 2:45). Apparently they close at 3??? We felt awful! We had no clue and so we asked for a box to go. We didn't want to be "those people". We also saw them turn away 4 parties at this time... So apparently everyone who works there is financially stable which is pretty cool. Thank goodness it's no longer 2008! Anyways... After asking 3 different people for a box, we finally get one and it's time to leave. So I go to use the restroom before we head out. I walk in and I see two doors: one looks like a closed storage closet and the other door is open. Since I didn't see a choice of which restroom to use, I go in the open one. I then see the handle looks weird (as there wasn't one...) so I figured SURELY it couldn't be malfunctioning or they woulda put up a sign? Just in case I try to like half close the door so it wouldn't lock, yet still be a little private and I wouldn't pee in public. The door shuts. I was then LOCKED IN THE BATHROOM FOR 15 MINUTES! I was screaming and banging on the door as loud as I could but no one could hear me. I was so scared... Finally someone walks in and asks "ma'am do you need help with something?" And I screamed that I couldn't get out! They pick open the lock and the staff is hysterically laughing at me as this was really funny to them. I was so terrified and extremely embarrassed that I just started to bawl my eyes out. The staff was still laughing at me. I stormed out and cried my eyes out in the parking lot for 10 minutes as my boyfriend tried to calm my nerves. (Btw, I didn't even cry in The Notebook and I'm in sales soooo I'm not a crier. I've dated my boyfriend for 10 months and this is the first time he's ever seen me cry.) Yeah... I guess my rant is over. So, if you're gonna take a door handle off of a public space, then please put up a sign. And learn how to take an order. Even if you mess it up (cuz we're all human)... Fix it the second time? It's not like I asked for everything gluten free with a million modifications. Goodness. Oh... And again... Don't take off a flippin door handle when you're still in operation with paying customers. Don't eat here.

This is such an awesome restaurant - my husband's and my new favorite. Personally, I haven't been a big fan of the breakfast items, but the dinner/lunch items are the best. My husband loves the tilapia tacos and I love the pan seared chicken breast. Also, the beignets are fabulous (request honey with them). My husband loves the caps and I love the signature house latte. Beware, you can wait over an hour on a Sunday or Saturday around lunch time, but if you go to dinner during the middle of the week there is no wait at all. Plus: really friendly service and nice atmosphere

I've been here multiple times because this restaurant is right by my house, but every time the service is very mediocre and SLOW. Today was probably the last time I'll come here. Not worth the wait

What a delightful find. Wait staff is friendly & fun. The food is great. The best part? I am gluten free & dairy free & I have CHOICES! My Signature latte was made with almond milk. Bekah recommended the veggie omelet & found gluten free bread to serve with it. The potatoes with garlic & rosemary are delicious. My husband had the French toast sandwich. He says "you need a sweet tooth for this". He left nothing on his plate! We will be back - tomorrow?

It's okay....food was good, iced tea was goo, bloody marys good but way over priced. Three pancakes should not cost $7.25 and three pieces should not cost $3.00, I had to even pay extra for eggs but I thought they came with the pancakes, might go back but maybe for an iced tea.

This is a great weekend breakfast/brunch place. Unique spins on classic menu items. Hip interior and staff. Variety on the menu and reasonably priced. Ahi tuna salad was delicious! Lattes and pretty and tasty. Great atmosphere at the bar. Dishes are satisfying and gullying without being overwhelming. Both times we've come there has been a wait but open spots at the bar. Take the spots at the bar for 1-3 people and it is a fun experience!

The GF and I went early on a Sunday morning to trying to beat the church crowd, but it seems like there's always a crowd at this place on Sundays. The food is always good. I love the crab cake benedict and I've also tried the lemon pancakes and a few other items that were delicious. I think a 3.5 star rating would be more accurate. The food and coffee is definitely 4 star quality, but I hate having to wait excessive amounts of time for a table only to get a server that's so overwhelmed they don't know what to do. I guess that's to be expected at a brunch place on Sundays, so if you don't mind it, this might be the place for you.

My friends and i have loved coffee house! Ive come here on several occasions, usually for their lunch special (brunch..special?), which you can pick a sandwich and a side. We usually go with the ham and cheese and although im not the biggest fan of ham, its fantastic! as our side, we get the "drumroll, the tomato basil, which is literally one of the best tomato basils ive ever had. So creamy and rich in flavor! definitely dip your sandwich in hurr and the service is decent. nothing fancy but they get things done. Dont ask about your kids, your school, your day, but they do what they have to do. overall, definitely recommend this place!

Great coffee, and I enjoyed the breakfast here. The food is simple and moderately portioned, don't expect a heaping plate for food and the food is mildly seasoned, nothing is overly strong or overpowering. Nice patio and overall a very chill place. Worth a visit, but don't expect food on par with Egg and I or Breadwinners.

Straight through the door I love it! It looks like a converted wine bar steakhouse hybrid with coffee and coffee machines everywhere! There are leather chairs in the waiting area and people are up at the "bar" drinking their lattes and "signatures" (the house special latte w/caramel and vanilla). Our server, Josh, is precisely the guy you want to introduce you to what's great here. He's smiling and makes great suggestions. He makes sure we are content with everything like its important to him, not because every server does. Things come fast even though this place is plenty busy for late breakfast on a Friday. And they taste like perfection! We ate Fred's Flatbread, lemon ricotta and pumpkin spice pancakes, and shrimp & grits. I drank a cold brew with almond milk (like a truly great coffee house, they have almond and soy milk) and my love had a regular with milk and honey. This est. offers free wifi (I'm using it now ;-)), warm staff, a patio with a fireplace (today was 30 and wet so nobody was out there but it would be dreamy to hang there, meet there and/or study there in the 3 seasons other than winter) and cozy, rustic decor. It feels like Texas and it feels like paradise. If I wasn't simply traveling through, I would make myself a known-by-name regular here with my own table and a drink named after me. Travelers and locals alike, flock here for creative turns on favorite meals for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner! You will regret nothing.

Excellent breakfast joint - Trying a local staple while I am in town, CHC is worth the wait. Interesting layout - the bar is right up front and all the waiting benches surround the bar, so if you're sitting at the bar, all the folks waiting for a table are checking you out!! Service was good even though they were pretty busy- and food came fairly quick. I was talked into their french toast breakfast sandwich - very good, egg n bacon w cheese and french toast, it kinda works! I was really impressed that the potatoes were hot when served. The only thing I could recommend is a larger selection on their menu for breakfast - but what they do serve is pretty good. I will certainly be back next time I am in town.

I mean... it's ok, but really? They kinda got my hopes up with the "bragging banners" on the side of their building about being the "best thing in Dallas since Reunion Tower (i.e. sliced bread)." Anyway, the service here is just bad. You've heard it in other reviews, and I'll confirm it for you. The staff doesn't care. Does. Not. Care. They have no respect for your time, comfort, atmosphere, or even to tell you about personal menu preferences. In fact, the girl almost forgot to give us our menus in the first place! Ugh. SO frustrating. How hard is it to train your staff? I'll tell you. It's not. So now let's get to what matters. We had a sandwich to share for brunch. The turkey club with fries. It wasn't bad. But the avacado was just mushed in the middle of the sandwich, and we had about 2 pieces of turkey, and one slice of turkey bacon. It's a thin, crappy sandwich that leaves a lot to be desired. Especially for the price. $10 FREAKING DOLLARS?!? Who do these people think they are that they can charge $10 for a tiny sandwich and luke warm fries? Sweet Jesus. The highlight of the meal was the orange juice. It was good, fresh. Not half bad. But everything else about the place was just... underwhelming I guess would be a good word for it. The atmosphere is typical coffee shop/bar/restaurant. Nothing special. The coffee is good, the food sucks (for the price), the service is just bad, and spending an hour at a place and only eating for 15 minutes of that time wasn't worth it. Not in my book. Just think twice is all I'm saying. Maybe try other places first, and see if this one REALLY stands up against the rest. I have yet to be impressed. Maybe I'll come back, we'll see.

I always always get great service. Today Ali and Shebly were behind the bar, where I like to eat breakfast. They treat you like a regular no matter how many times you have been it. This is about my 5th visit and the food can be hit and miss. I love the omelettes and breakfast burrito. Tasty and inventive. The breakfast flatbed was a little dry and crispy for my taste. I have only had lunch there once, I will be stick to breakfast. I did rate them on a curve, they are one of the best in the area and worth a visit. If Ali or Shelby are at the bar, sit there! You will not be disappointed!!! Five stars for staff.

My first visit was around a 3.5 star. The beignets weren't so bad and the coffee was okay. My second visit was for coffee only - the signature latte was good, but the japanese cold brew latte was even better! Probably the best cold coffee I've had in a while. Then comes the bad news, my most recent visit to Coffee House Cafe for dinner with some friends. The only average dish (we ordered 5 dishes) was the flatbread - everything else was a 1-star dish. And this time the beignets tasted like raw flour - no flavor whatsoever. I've always loved breakfast food and figured you can't go wrong with it. Boy was I wrong! Everything went wrong on this night and to make matters worse, service was just as disappointing as the food. Also, I ordered the latte again and this time it didn't taste so good. I'm not sure why the signature lattee always tastes different - this is supposed to be their one cup of joe that's the same thing. And I remember it being voted one of the best lattes in North Dallas. . .hmmm I think not. We all were underwhelmed by our dining experience and really disappointed that every dish was lacking in flavor and our coffee was unsatisfying. This breakfast place is scratched off my list for now - perhaps I'll revisit in a couple of months.

I stopped in for a late Sunday lunch. We sat at the bar so we could have a good view of all of the happenings. I ordered a vegetable omelet and mimosa. My friend ordered a burrito. My omelet was a good portion size, taste good and was filling. My friend, who is a really picky eater, ate all of his burrito (impressive). While we waited for our food we chatted with the bar staff, people watched and played games on my notebook using the free Wi-Fi service. I will definitely be going back. Pros: Good breakfast + brunch for a reasonable price I liked the design of the restaurant with the bar in the center of things Personable staff Free Wi-Fi Good for families and singles alike Cons: None at the moment

I went in this am for breakfast...and I am soo happy! My waitress Carrie was great. I told her it was my first time dining here and she gave some great suggestions and descriptions of their menu items. I ended up getting the French toast sandwich and cheese grits...so savory! It was just the heavy meal I needed to sleep!! I will definitely be back!!!

This is a nice sit down coffee shop/cafe hybrid place. Atmosphere is very nice and sets a very homely feel to the restaurant. Coming in on a Sunday brunch time, they were fairly busy, but service was very great overall considering how many customers were present. Diving into the food! Portobello Mushroom Fries - These are exactly how they sound. Giant portobello mushroom fried in a thick stick batter form. Although the batter was a tad thick for my taste, they went very well with avocado ranch. I would definitely recommend these. Chicken Apple Sausage Hash - This item was a bit confusing. Poached benedict eggs on top of grilled potatoes and sausage. I wasn't sure where the chicken apple part of the dish came in (I guess there was a hint of apple taste to the dish), but regardless, the dish was very well done. I tried a little bit of my friend's signature latte and it was delicious. If you want to just have a simple coffee experience, it's definitely better than going to Starbucks. Food - 7.5/10 Value - 3.5/5 Service - 4/5 Atmosphere - 3.5/5 Overall Score - 18.5/25

You may want to brace yourself, Universe, because you may be ending after reading this next sentence: it does not happen often, but every once in a great while, I am wrong. So it was with my first review of this place, at the time of this update nearly two years ago. That's a lot of time for things to improve, and improve they did. Truthfully, this place has always been pretty stellar, but the recent months, coupled with today's visit made me dig deep into the cold, vacuousness that used to be my soul before I sold it and reconsider my initial review. From three stars to five? Zounds! Clearly there is something spectacular going on here... Let's get the questionable out of the way, and there are only two elements here that are not the fault of the place: parking and haughty clientele. In order, then: the parking lot is small, ultimately forcing you to park at the abandoned Sonic next door. I'm not sure how a Sonic goes out of business but clearly there are wondrous forces at work here. Next, the clientele. Look: 99 percent of the people here are totally chilled to the point where you would not mind sharing a beer with them or discussing Werner Herzog's latest movie. There is a staunch 1 percent that aim to suck the life out of the room, and you can see them coming well in advance: they parade to the hostess stand, the bar, the bathroom, etc. acting as if they are doing us a favor by letting us look at them. Who do they think they are? Me? Best to ignore them and don't let their repetitive cackling frighten you off. Besides, it's not like Coffee House Cafe can post a sign reading "If you're a Haughty Idiot, your Money isn't Good Here." Now that we have that out of our system, everything else about this place soars. It starts with easily the most engaging hostess duo I've seen. Polite? Attentive? Not beaten down by life? Absolutely - you'll put your name in and assume you've become royalty from the time you parked your car to the time they hand you a pager. You can use this downtime to take in the surroundings: a theatre-in-the-round coffee bar flanked by high table tops and a waiting area with a performance stage nestled in the corner. A patio extends out the right side with additional dining rooms along the left wall. And while you're trying to figure out what kind of sorcery allows so many people to fit comfortably into a building this size without everyone being crowded, you'll notice the most important element that makes Coffee House Cafe worthy of your time: the staff. Simply put, the staff here are the most efficient, friendly and engaging team you will meet in a coffee shop. If one of them told me they were currently on a rush from eating Pixie Stix made from the ground-up horn of a unicorn that a wish dragon sold them, it would not surprise me at all, shortly before I ask them to share the next one with me. I'm not quite sure where that previous analogy was going but chalk it up to the euphoric rush you get observing a team that works well together and is not ready to tear each other's heads from their necks - it's a rare, yet impressive sight. Our visit today was one of several positive experiences with Bekah (and there is a 120 percent chance I misspelled her name because I am the worst person on the planet with names). Prompt service mixed with positive vibes cannot help but put even the most hard-edged curmudgeon into a great mood after a meal in her section. Speaking of meals, now that we're six paragraphs into this review, I guess I should mention the food. It's delicious, blending breakfast through dinner in a mixture of niche divinity (shrimp'n grits!) to delectable staples of dining (burgers!), along with some of the best coffee you could hope to receive. I'm not a dessert guy so I have no idea what that's like but if it follows everything else, I assume their dessert menu redefines the word "tasty." I'm not a guy who likes to go back on his prior assessments. It happens, sure, like how I discovered I somehow like the music of She & Him despite finding Zooey Deschanel irritating beyond belief. So it is with Coffee House Cafe. Believe the hype, friends - if ever there was a neighborhood eatery that deserved your attention, this is it.

I used to come here weekly before work when it first opened up. Good food and coffee but the baristas (except for one who is no longer there) are very inattentive. They almost need clear cups because they are always doing misc tasks rather than ever checking on bar customers drinks. I mean who drinks an entire 10 oz cup of coffee and would ever want a second? I stopped going for a few months and gave it a shot again. Still the same story.

Coffee House Cafe use to be one of our Sunday brunch mainstays. The food is good and their signature lattes I crave. However, my wife and I have seen a consistent decline in the quality of service since they opened. Now I might be more lenient if this was during a peak hour and our server had at least acknowledged our existence. However, when it's 2 o'clock on a Sunday and half of your booths are empty, I do not expect to wait 10 minutes to even be acknowledged and have my drink order taken. Who knows how much longer we would have waited had we not decided to leave. Unfortunately, this was the straw that broke the camels back. Just because you have good food does not mean I should tolerate bad service. Managers, I implore you to train your staff...not sure if I will ever come back at this point but it would be nice to know that my bad experience was taken into consideration for future patrons.

I have been here twice and love it! The servers are always very nice and the good is good. Went on a Wednesday and they had a guy playing blues/ rock music and he was amazing. Also went for breakfast on a busy Saturday morning and thoroughly enjoyed it. The signature late is amazing! Definitely recommend for dinner or breakfast!

Eh, this place is OK. It's not horrible but I certainly would never drive across town again to experience this non-event. Upon arriving the host never greeted us. We got weird face from our waitress a few times. And no one ever thanked us for our patronage as we walked out the door. My lemon ricotta pancakes, which the menu quotes the DMN as having raved about, were dry and boring. The only lemon I tasted was the small slice of lemon served with it that I squeezed on the pancakes. My husband's eggs Benedict were dry and had barely any hollandaise sauce. The chicken apple sausage was ok but had no kick as you would expect with sausage. The fresh berries were the best part but it's kind of hard to screw that up. And the worst part - the bill: $50 for 2 breakfasts, a couple of OJ's and coffees. RIDICULOUS. The best thing about this place is the decor, but it's really just a dud with a fancy dress on!

decor - industrial with a touch of modern sophistication service - busy sunday morning resulted in inattentive service. waiter never checked on my table! food - house latte was delectable. I ordered the spinach/mushroom omelette with taters and toast and a side of fruit. It was pretty good - not quite the homemade taste of other local establishments. I will not be returning.

Lemon ricotta pancakes are the real deal. Possibly the best thing on the menu. I usually get the soup/sandwich combo for lunch and the tomato basil is spicier on some occasions--to me, that says "hello, I'm homemade!" Sitting at the high tables near the bar with a laptop is one of the best places to get some work done in the North Dallas area.

Great little dive. They have a great selection of food and a full bar. Their summertime margarita was very nice and refreshing. I did not eat on my first trip, but many of the items sounded tasty. I hope to go back soon. It has a nice layout, very bistro looking. Super talkative staff that love their boss. I believe this place will do great.

Coffee House Cafe is a dream come true in North Dallas! My office is around the corner so this spot has become a regular lunch oasis or brunch gathering place. The space feels cozy with private tables, big booths, & Dallas art. First, let's start with those freaking lemon ricotta pancakes. Let's see... heavenly, wonderful, amazing, life-changing? No, not even those words begin to describe my emotional connection to those damn pancakes. So. Dang. Good. I also dig their breakfast taters, cage free eggs, & meat selections on their breakfast menu. Super yummy food, great portions, & different than all the other cookie cutter breakfast spots. For lunch, their tomato soup & avocado panini usually get my vote. If you are looking for a heartier option, go with the burger & sweet potato tots! That Their signature house latte is great hot or iced although I would suggest getting 1/2 the syrup in the iced...it is shockingly sweet if you're into a more robust cup of joe. I think that I will always be a CHH fan!

The food is great, albeit, a bit pricey given that this is the suburbs of Dallas not downtown New York or Los Angeles or even in Uptown or downtown Dallas. There is no view of the city or ocean from the restaurant. The food was tasty, but I don't think that the food or service warrants a 20-30% markup over other coffee shops/breakfast joints in the area. Was it good? Yes. Will I be back at these prices for simple breakfast food? I doubt it.

Have been here half a dozen times. Coffee is good, food is good when they get it right, which is seldom. Service is hit and miss. They suffer from the normal triad of basic restaurant service screw-ups, I'm convinced it's built into the system because it happens at so many places: 1 - The waiter thinks its cool to take orders without writing them down, even if there are minor technicalities (such as - breakfast burrito, but hold the peppers). 2 - A different waiter delivers the food, has no idea what you actually said to Waiter No. 1, and doesn't care. 3 - The food is wrong. Waiter No. 1 shows up ten minutes later and says "so is everything okay??" Is it too much to ask for the waiter to write down the order, and to also deliver my food when it's ready? Rant off.

I have been here three times. The staff are distant. The food is mediocre (and I have tried several separate dishes). My girlfriend enjoys the atmosphere; to me it feels like a mix between La Madeline and a Chili's.... The prices are reasonable but I will not give the place a fourth try.

Dear Owner of Coffee House - Fire your manager. I have never seen such a surly and depressed bunch of waiters in my life. And the world knows that service comes from the top down. Ready for a relaxing brunch with my girl, we decided to head to Coffee House to the patio. It was great to be snarled at by the guy taking people's names at the front. The place was packed, so I chopped it up to stress. That was until I was seated. My table was wet and I had to ask for it to be wiped down. We ordered coffee. It came quick and was good. I do love that homemade orange juice too. Then from there it was all downhill. We did not see our waiter for about 20 minutes. We did see other staff running here and there. How can I express what they looked like? Downtrodden, angry, miserable. I heard several apologies to other tables. The staff is lucky that on Sundays they are working with groups of friends and family. They are too distracted with their kids and such to be mad. Our water was never refilled. We were never offered more coffee and by the time that we ordered we had been there almost an hour. To top things off, the food was actually cold when it got there. Cold pancakes don't really taste quite the same and neither does sausage. We had to ask for straws. We had to ask for silverware. We had to ask for salt and pepper. We even had to ask twice for syrup for the pancakes. We should have asked for our money and our time back. Both were wasted there.

Very friendly staff who, if you're getting some work done, strike the right balance of offering good service without constantly bugging you. Above average espresso with decent food and a full bar as well as a nice large patio area. I've also eaten here and the food is good. My only criticism is no 2% milk and my personal preference is more foam in the machiato. Overall a great place.

Today was my second visit here. The food is decent and there are healthy choices which is a plus. Downside is they are pretty busy on the weekend and it can be a wait for a table. Today I got a seat at the bar which was different. Service was a bit slower because the waiters behind the bar have to make all the drinks for the whole place. This place is great for mimosas!! I ordered the ham and cheese omelet which was delicious. I got fresh fruit instead of potatoes because I don't like the potatoes due to the Rosemary they put on them. Also my fresh fruits tasted like Rosemary so they must have been near the potatoes. At my last visit I was at a table and had great service. Definitely a good brunch spot to try.

Can't say enough good stuff about this place! I've been to New Orleans multiple times and ever since my last visit I've been trying to find a place to rival Cafe Dumonte. And I am here to tell you that This is the place! The beignets aren't quite as good but it is still amazing! and the coffee is better that anything I've experienced in the Dallas area. Will Definitely be returning.

I absolutely love this place! Me and my co-workers work about 2 minutes away and we have been coming here at least 2 times a week every since last week. The food is fresh, the service is awesome. I have tried the baja tacos which are delicious. The turkey bacon panini is also awesome. Hamburgers are also delicious. Now they may be a little bit slow when it comes to bringing the food out, but the wait is so totally worth it. Definitely a must have and a go to!!!!

We've been there three times now. Each time the service has been marginal at best, right along with the tastiness of the food. Just got back home from our third & final visit. 3 strikes & they're OUT.... Ordered beignet as a breakfast appetizer. They were "OK" but we never got the sauce that was supposed to be served with. Then, we both ordered an omelet that was supposed to come with homefries. When our plates were delivered, no homefries in sight (really? At 1:30pm on a Sunday?). While the waitress offered us a substitution, none of them was a good fit with our food, so we just did without. The omelet was goat cheese & herb. What we actually got was an omelete filled with herb goat cheese. The whole thing tasted quite bland. The plate came with a side of wheat toast, but there was not a drop of butter in sight (we had to ask for it). When we got the bill, we had been charged full price for our omelete. Any experienced wait staff person would have made sure that we were given a discount before bringing the check. When we brought it to our server's attention, she had to go find the assistant manager. Upon her return, we were credited with $2 off the entire bill. WTF??? A side of homefries was $3 - in our book, we should have AT LEAST gotten $2 EACH ($4 total) off of our entres. On our way out the door, we asked the hostess if the manager was in. Her reply, "Oh, the assistant manager? Yeah, she's around here somewhere... I don't see her." Again...WTF? Her reply should have been, "Would you like to speak with them? Give me a moment & I'll find him/her for you. The place seems to always be packed. Cosmetically, the place looks like a fun/funky rustic cellar atmosphere. But with the quality of food & the lack of TRUE customer service, this place will not last long. Trust me...

Went this morning with a group of friends. The lemon ricotta pancakes are goooood as well as the shrimp and grits. The ambience is good as well. Good place for a first date or to just hang out and chill with a cup of coffee.

Had the breakfast burrito this morning with the signature latte. The burrito doesn't get any better than this! Loved it :-) The latte was also very good. Highly recommend this place - the atmosphere is really nice too. My daughter and I will make this place a regular!

Because we just moved from California we are out and about looking for places to eat. Thank goodness for Yelp, we found this place. Since its Labor Day, we called to confirm if they are open and the wait time. Wait time is about 15-20 minutes but was able to make reservations over the phone. Because of this, when we got there, we didn't have to wait when we got there, was seated immediately. When seated the server took care of us immediately. We ordered ... Coffee for the adults and it was good:) French Toast Sandwich - (daughters food)because it's not the normal french toast, I didn't think I would like it but taste amazing. Apple Hash - (my food) Again didn't think I would like it but it was cooked well. The potatoes by itself with ketchup was amazing. Eggs cooked right. Chicken fried steak - (sons meal) the best he has ever had. Should I tell more? Lol Three egg omelet - (husband's meal) very good. Loved his bread..lol Will definitely be back. Menu priced right.

Eh. Not impressed. Visiting my sister from California I recommended a place found on Yelp before I headed to the Dallas airport to catch my flight home. I was impressed by the pictures. When I entered I was also impressed with the upscale modern chic ambiance even though everything from the bathroom to the table booths seemed narrow. Just an observation. Lol Anyways I ordered the eggs benedict. This is my normal default "go-to" meal wherever I go for breakfast. Our waitress didn't ask what we wanted as sides, she brought us both potatoes on the side. She was a horrible waitress. I never tip below 10%.. I did this morning. I digress. Back to the eggs benny... they looked good but they regrettably weren't. I ordered the "house" eggs benedict thinking it would be the "normal" one of the 3 e.b. options available on their menu... NOPE. no English muffin. No ham. I do gotta say though... perfect poached egg. It's not easy and this one was PERFECT. Can anyone spare some h.sauce tho? Mine was dry af. Hard ass bacon on some bread... it was gross. We both left half our dishes there then asked for Fruit since the potatoes weren't an option but a definite. The pineapple in the fruit was completely white... bit into it BLERCH. so gross! This place... never again.

I will definitely give this place four stars for their service and this food. We spent such a long time catching up here, but our server seemed extremely helpful and didn't rush us out. She did a great job taking care of us. I ordered the eggs benedict with chicken sausage. It's basically a potato hash topped with poached eggs, sliced sausage, and hollandaise sauce. Definitely a hearty breakfast that I would love to order again. Coffee was decent but not quite what I had expected. I wanted a cortado, but it had a little too much milk for my taste. Seemed more like a cappuccino instead. To be honest, it was a great cappuccino, just not quite what I was hoping. Other than that, I really loved this place and cannot wait to be here again soon.

This place has a very nice coffee bar, and their coffee related drinks are very good. They also have a good breakfast and brunch options. I was not very impressed with their lunch menu. It gets really busy during Sunday brunch time. The staff is helpful and friendly.

A couple of weeks ago we went to coffee house cafe for brunch. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table and sat outside on the patio. It wasn't too hot yet so it was very pleasant. Service was quick and they have full, flavorful coffee. I got the chicken apple sausage hash and my husband got the steak and eggs. The hash was complex with chicken sausage, potatoes, onions, peppers and a chipotle hollandaise. It was a big portion and spiced well, but wish their was more sauce and the portion of veggies to potatoes and sausage was less veggies. My husbands steak n eggs were amazing. I ended up eating the leftovers the next day for lunch. The steak was tender and batter nice and crispy, the gravy was rich and full of depth and flavor. The menu could afford to be a bit more descriptive it what is in dishes and what comes with the entrees. However, the food was definitely better then average brunch, the prices were fair. I will definitely be back for the steak and eggs, but would like to try some other items as well.

It's always crowded for breakfast on the weekend and parking is awful! By the time we finally get seated (we've averaged 20 min wait) we notice a few empty tables that the hostess could easily seat other folks waiting. The Challah French Toast Sandwich is a carb over load but good nonetheless. The Breakfast burrito is huge. It also come with fresh salsa full of flavor. I definitely recommend getting the Beignets as they pair perfectly with the coffee. But they are drenched in powdered sugar, so if you don't like that, make sure you ask for it on the side or lightly sugared. All in all, great coffee and food. I would recommend this place to others.

I really wanted to like this place. I love a good place to have breakfast, something with character. Upon walking in, I was impressed with the feel, it's a beautiful restaurant. Perhaps too nice, how can this much overhead survive without a dinner service? On a Saturday at 11AM there was a stated 15 minute wait, but we were seated in about 5. Nice. Server came over promptly, nice guy. From there the service was very uneven. No lemon in water as request, no cream for coffee. Even after a 2nd request it took a bit. Good thing the waiter read the order back, he had a few things wrong. The house latte was yummy and my hubby said the drip was flavorful. Then the food. Buttermilk pancakes were great, flavorful with just the right mix of chewy and fluffy. 3 pancakes per order. Syrup appeared to be maple, and it was on the table when we sat, but it was empty. No one noticed and I had to wait for a refill after the pancakes arrived. A side of bacon, 2 strips, that's really cheap. The bacon was sub-par, unflavorful and not "extra crispy" as requested. Fairly rubbery. A buck fifty a slice...really? Hubby had scrambled eggs "dry"..but they didn't really come dry. The home-fries were nothing special. Just some cut up potatoes fried. No spice, no onions, pretty bland. The single sausage patty was Jimmy Deanesque. The prices were right if you had normal restaurant portions, but the portions(except the pancakes) were very skimpy. I guess they are looking out for your health, but I just felt ripped off. The food should be better. Frankly everything but the pancakes and coffee can be had at Cindy's, Denny's or Ihop, better at a better price. They need to up the quality of the food. They need to train the servers better. Ours was friendly, but not organized or on top of it. It has potential, but needs to live up to the coffee and the space. We sat inside, patio seemed nice.

BEST COFFEE IN DALLAS!!! They have a new kind of iced coffee. It is called Cold Brew coffee and it is a method and machine all the way from Japan. They also make all their syrups in house! That is not something that you see in many coffee houses. The food is pretty darn good too. It has different hours than most cafes, but give it a chance and you won't be disappointed.

The first time we went here for breakfast it was great- we sat in a booth in the front room. The food and service were both good. I recommended it to friends and even brought some of my close friends with me. Ever since that first experience I've had nothing but bad experiences here though. Both times we sat in the back room, it's been hot, and the wait service has been nothing short of terrible. We waited at least 15 minutes to get our drink orders in, had to steal a carafe to get refills of coffee, and my order has been wrong even. I didn't even tell the waitress that my order was wrong because I didn't want to have to wait another 40 mins for my meal to come out. Both of the waitresses working in the back room were too relaxed and didn't seem very happy to be working there at all. I've noticed that the wait time for breakfast reduced dramatically from the first time I was there and I think it's because other people have been having awful experiences here too.

This area needs a good brunch place so bad and I hope it sticks. I enjoy this place and service has always been fine for me, though they still act like a new place from time to time. Dinner was excellent, for brunch I had Mixed results, excellent scrambled and pancake. The Migas were missing tortillas I felt. I will be back!

This place is soooo good! The staff has always been friendly, attentive and had great suggestions. They have a great patio with a big warm cozy fire. I had the best cup of hot cocoa......no really, the best that I have ever had in my entire life. I never knew how good hot chocolate could be.

This place hasn't even had it's grand opening and I've been there 4 times. Sad but true. It is still finding its feet as far as speed/efficiency of service goes but absolutely to be understood as it's brand new and already getting slammed with business. Our hood needed a place like this so it is being welcomed with open arms. The staff are all amazingly friendly every time I've been which really makes up for any newby kinks. My favorite dishes so far are the meatloaf, the truffle oil fries & the cheesy grits. Excellent beignets, too. Great decor and atmosphere & when the weather is less insane the patio will be wonderful, too. My new hangout!

I have been here3 times so far and love this place! They have the best coffee. I have tried the capaccino and the iced coffee. So yummy! The staff are super nice. I highly recommend! They have free wi-fi and each booth has an electrical plug so you can work from here. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. I wish they had dinner service as well. They have a huge patio that is nicely appointed. I can't wait to try once the temps get below triple digits! I predict the patio will be packed in the fall and spring. Check it out! You won't be disapointed.

Friendly wait staff and fantastic food! The covered outdoor patio is the best, and they often have live music there. I'm addicted to their tilapia tacos and cobb salad ! Carlos makes great drinks at the bar!

Super friendly with a great atmosphere. Service is a bit slow at times, but we only go Sat and Sun mornings which we know is peak times for this place. I'm not a big portions kind of guy but they could give you a bit more for your money with e specialty items. I'll keep going.

Great coffee and espresso, BUT don't order any eggs from this place! They do not understand how to cook fried eggs at all. Prices are high, service is terrific. Also, make sure they don't seat you in the front room. It is extremely noisy and cold.

My wife and I decided to try the coffee house after receiving poor service when they opened a year ago. We went in the evening and there were very few people eating. It took 15 minutes to order. Then she comes back ten minutes later and asks us if we are ready to order. We said we already ordered and please bring us the wine that we ordered. We could see her running around the restaurant with the bottle an two glasses but after 30 minutes we looked at each other and said lets get out of here. As we left the management never said a thing when we mentioned we were leaving to try another place down the street. I just don't know how long this place can operate messing with people. I also tweeted them and never got a response. It's like they don't give a flip. Very sad because my home and office is within walking distance.

I had lunch here for the first time yesterday. I've come for breakfast several times before. I had the salmon baja tacos. The flavor was good, but the salmon itself was a little weird - instead of being slices of salmon, it was kind of balled up clumps of salmon. I didn't care for the consistency, so I won't be getting them again.

All natural food, coffee and drinks. Reverse osmosis water. DELICIOUS food! Need I say more? They are still working out kinks in service, but everyone is willing to help if something is out of place, but I think the quality of what they serve makes up for this 150%

Wonderful service, amazing patio, good food, and pretty good drinks (both alcoholic and non). I would like to see smoothies and some mixed drinks on the menu. The booths and bar area are great places to study. The coffee is excellent, even though I don't drink coffee.

First of all, I feel like I need to tell you that both the food and coffee at Coffee House Cafe deserve five stars. The coffee is excellent, the food is fantastic (albeit slightly overpriced), and the atmosphere makes you want to stay (and I usually do for several hours). What Coffee House Cafe loses one star for is the service. The servers are nice and friendly. The problem is, they are a little slow. Occasionally, I get a great one (like I did today- thanks, Dustin Sprinkles) and it makes me want to give them their little extra star back. But as a general rule, service is sluggish. And frankly, I am a little glad that it is, because I think it prevents service snobs from returning. If it weren't for this little thing, this place would be overrun with people. It is THAT good. For smaller appetites, I recommend the kids Farmhouse Breakfast. For regular ones, the chicken apple sausage hash. The tomato basil soup and chicken salad sandwich are both excellent. Visit Coffee House Cafe. Great coffee, free wi-fi. You may never want to work from a Starbucks again.

I had been here for breakfast and the wait was long but that is what you would expect. I went on a Friday night at 8:00 and waited more than 10 minutes for the hostess to seat us and then gave up and took a seat. Our menus were brought to us and then we waited for over 15 minutes and no waitstaff came to the table to take our order. We overheard other waitstaff telling customers that they had run out of several of the dishes on the already limited menu. We left and I guarantee I will never return. It is a shame that a non-chain restaurant can't provide the service that I really wanted to see.

Absolutely fantastic breakfast and lunch cafe. The breakfast tacos are the best I have had and the pastry selection is delicious (would recommend the ham/cheese croissant and the chocolate croissant). The hot latte was exceptional. The atmosphere, service and quality of food made for a first rate dining experience. I can't wait to go back to try the other menu options.

Even with the whole meal comped and it was delicious too I will NEVER return. From faulty hostesses who told us after we had a reservation that we still had to wait to be seated because they were, "cleaning our table" and then brought us to a dirty table in a half empty room to the 50 minutes we waited with toddlers for our food to arrive after we ordered. The food came out in shifts and the orders were tasty but wrong. We have been back 3 times since the food is so tasty and it's close to home. Won't be back. Can't handle the Circus!

I have had wonderful breakfasts here for quite some time. Tried lunch recently and was astounded at the the beet and goat cheese spinach salad...it was such a small portion for such a (relatively speaking) large price. Doubt I will go back there for lunch again.

I've been here twice and will review both experiences. My first visit was on 8/20/11 and was good overall. A friend had recommended CHC, and I had a friend in from NYC. We went for breakfast and turned out our other friend and her husband were arriving the same time as us. So, we all sat together. Our waiter was Chris. He was good. I had the pancakes with bacon and coffee. The pancakes were very good as were the bacon and the coffee. My friend had the french toast with chicken apple sausage and coffee. She said she enjoyed her meal. Another friend also had the french toast and her husband had the buckwheat granola pancakes. Everyone was happy and received good service. I should say that my friend and her husband are regulars and the owner/manager stopped by to say hello and chat for a minute. Yesterday (8/27/11) was my second visit with another friend who I often brunch with around Dallas (Breadwinner's, Oddfellow's, Jonathan's are all recent examples). She ordered the beignets while waiting on me. They were okay. . .a little doughy for my preference (and I'll admit I'm picky about them). The coffee tasted burnt. So, I asked for a fresh cup since it's always possible for something to go wrong with a pot. It was not a big deal for me. My friend thought the coffee tasted a bit burnt as well, but chose to just keep hers. I wish I had done the same given what happened after that with the coffee. First, I'll talk more about the food. We ordered the goat cheese and fresh herb omelet with chicken apple sausage and the buckwheat granola pancakes (all to share). The food was good. I would have preferred a bit more goat cheese on the omelet, but I am a huge goat cheese lover and always want more goat cheese. . .so it was probably fine for everyone else and my friend liked it. The sausage was very good. The granola pancakes were so good that no syrup was needed. . .and I could quickly become an addict of these tasty treats. So now we'll turn back to the coffee fiasco. Instead of bringing me a fresh cup of coffee, a very nice girl came over and offered to make me a special cup (can't remember what it was called but something special and handmade). I kept explaining that I just wanted a regular cup and assumed it had just been a bad pot, but she pretty much wasn't taking no for an answer. So, I accepted the offer for the coffee. It was good, but I didn't get it until I was over half done (and quite frankly almost done) with my breakfast. I had wanted coffee throughout my breakfast. Needless to say, that didn't happen. One cup of coffee is just not enough. I usually drink at least three and wanted more. I was offered a regular cup to take with me, but too little too late as far as I was concerned. The other problem was that every waitperson to pass our table kept trying to take the plates. There was still food on all of the plates and we were trying to eat. Then, when my friend said it was okay to take hers, they tried to take mine after I had put a finger on my plate to indicate I was still eating. Admittedly, I can be a slow eater, but still do not appreciate my plate being removed before I'm finished. In addition, we watched the owner/manager walk past our table and stop at what appeared to be every other table checking on the customers except for our table. Apparently, only special customers get such care and good service, which I would have thought she'd stop at ours given the difficulties we were experiencing. (And I haven't even mentioned the fact that breakfast for the two of us was almost $40 and we were originally overcharged, but that was thankfully corrected when brought to the attention of our waitress.) Bottom line is that while the food is good, the service is sub-par and it's a bit expensive for breakfast.

First time here! It's close to campus. At first I wasn't sure if i wanted to come here to study because it looked more like a restaurant. However, after calling I came for the wifi! Signature house latte: (2.5stars!!) the description says lightly sweetened. It should probably be changed to "sweetened" because it was very sweet!! Maybe I'm just used to bitter coffee, but I didn't know it would be that sweet. My apologies, but coffee is serious! Dip duo: (3.5stars) the guacamole portion was pretty plain, but smooth. Chipotle salsa was perfect the way it was!! Not enough chips to cover the salsa and guac. Chicken fried steak: (4stars) for a lunch portion, it was pretty big. The batter was light enough so that we weren't heaving away post meal, but it was pretty big. Wasn't a particular flavor that stuck out Service: (4stars) j think our waiter just started. I like attentive waiters, but he came up to us a lot more than needed. After putting something down on our table he would come right back around and ask how everything was before we had a chance to try the food. Just felt rushed. That's okay though, with time! He was nice anyways This is a cute place with an outdoor area. I'll probably come in a few weeks to try the other things out

Well I am kind of torn.. I wish I could give 4.5 stars but this isn't the case... 1. Coffee- great!!! My guy and I have tried the following... BTW he is a coffee junkie I am more of a latte junkie so I guess there really isn't a comparison. Signature House latte- 4.0 Vanilla Latte- 4.0 House-Three Blend Organic Drip w/ heavy cream- 4.5 ( YEP I SAID HEAVY CREAM!!!) Pancakes- meh?! I guess I am just a harsh critic of pancakes since I love them so.. 3.0 They have a drive thru!!!! YEEEPPIEEEEEE!!!! :D Overall, I can say it's a decent little joint.. Yum Oh... The customer service is ok and meh as well.. One of the baristas was kind of rude to me.. I didn't catch her name but I like to give people chances before complaining.. She could have been having a bad day as it was truly packed with needy people as myself.. :)

Mediocre at best. Breakfast potatoes try to hide the fact that the potatoes are barely warm, soggy and under seasoned by adding too much garlic. Potatoes = 1+. Ham and cheese omelet = 2. Coffee = 2, not hot nor fresh. Side of ham = 1, c'mon, the serving was pathetic. The place was not busy and our server experience was fine = 4.
