Made a reservation via OpenTable. Ambience and setting very nice and quaint inside despite the outside looking a bit commercial. Diverse menu especially small plates, appetizers, flatbread, pizzettes, and sides. We sampled numerous dishes - the escargot, crab tower, calamari, margarita flatbread, peach burrata, gnocchi, Mediterranean salad, and an Italian sausage and mushroom pizza. Every single dish was terrific and unique. The escargot could have used a bit more flavor. We had peach cobbler and bread pudding for dessert which were both excellent. Highly recommend. Nacho was our server and he was wonderful and attentive too! We will be back!

Not too happy with our service. We ordered a half salad and when we got the bill it was the price of a full salad. Even though there is a half price in the menu they apparently don't offer a have salad . So rather than refund you the half price they offer you a dessert... No thanks the prices are too high for the food they offer. I have been there several times in the past but I have to say it's time to find a new place.

I have been coming here since they opened. They have had recent competition in the area. Some have come and gone and a few are still around. One thing I can say is that they stay true to their commitment of using fresh and seasonal ingredients. Coming from California I was not super impressed with the option here in Texas. They do things big but the execution is not always great. I have noticed that has started to change over the years. This spot reminds me of some of my favs in the Sonoma wine country. They don't overdo it but you can tell they care about what they serve. The prices have increased a bit more than I would expect but you have to consider the area. I will continue to come here because they sever great food and the service has been good as well.

Holy Smokes. I had been here twice for lunch before and it was very good but I was not expecting what we enjoyed at dinner. Tanqueray martini was perfectly prepared. The Caesar salad was one of the most perfectly prepared we've ever had. I told our server we would share it and, Whoa! it came out on two plates, perfectly dressed. I had the rack of lamb with jalapeño mint gastrique... wow!! To die for. The something or other mashed potatoes and jimica corn slaw with it were lovely. This is an lovely, small, intimate venue. Wine selection is excellent. Our server was all that a server should be. Knowledgable, attentive, and efficient but not obsequious and hovering. We were very, very pleased.

the owners, Ying and Tom Atkins, have developed a great place; however, the state road construction on 26 is going to make things difficult, not only for Next, but for the other places along 26. Patrons need to be more supportive during this pertiod--we really want such places to succeed--even though, apparently the City and State don't care!

Good martinis. The portobello frites had too much breading and were too salty. They seemed to me to be a frozen product. The ham ,fig, and goat cheese Flatbread was really good. I got the scallops which were medium sized and fresh each sitting on a little bed mashed potatoes with bacon crumbles. Two smears of carrot puree were on each side of the plate. The dish was way over salted and the carrot puree had a stale flavor. $32 dish! My partner had the pork entree. In this case too the dish was ruined by too much salt. Good recipe ideas, fresh seafood ruined in the preparation. Not acceptable at this price level.

Our first time to go and went for Sunday Brunch. Food was great! Highly recommend the Crab Benedict. My husband had the chicken fried steak which he liked, however, it was not "lightly" battered per the menu. Service was great although our waiter was not very personable. We look forward to a dinner visit.

I travel 80% and am often stuck eating food on overnights that does not live up to the price or hype, but this place is worth every bit of your time and money. I had Salisbury Steak and followed it up with peach cobbler. It was one of the best meals I have ever had, and totally worth the calorie sacrifice! Don't drive by this place like I did going to the pub nearby, just pull straight in and save the disappointment of lesser restaurants. This place rocks!

The pork tenderloin is very good. Duck breast was very tender and juicy as well. Good for a nice relaxing dinner.

to start with, prices are a bit high. some of the food isn't as good as they think it is but some items are. atmosphere is nice, a little upscale but not pretentious, nice bar. adding a rant here. we were having dinner on a Saturday night, again this is a nice place, people spending some decent money. some family is there with 2 young girls, one of them in a bathing suit and flip flops. no t-shirt, or coverup, just a bathing suit. really! take the kid to mcdonalds if she won't get dressed. I think a restaurant has the right, and SHOULD refuse service to anyone not appropriately dressed for the venue.

Great food, appetizers, salad and entrees. What's lacking is atmosphere, the lighting is too bright and there is no music. It would be a huge improvement to pay attention to the details.

Chilean Sea Bass and Butter Poached Lobster were phenomenal! Pages and pages of wines in the wine list. A wonderful treat! We will be back for sure!

Had an enjoyable dinner with my husband! Started off with beef crostini which was fabulous! My husband had lasagna and I had chicken with artichoke and olives. Both dishes were very tasty! The menu is very extensive so takes some time to get through it but the atmosphere and service are fantastic!

Took hubby here for 'date night' and we were both impressed. As other reviewers have said, the tables are close together, however at 730pm on a Thursday night, that wasn't really an issue. Our waitress Barbara was great - good check-backs, refills on coffee and she even gave my husband a complimentary glass of red wine, that was poured in error. Very good service! The menu is as noted online, with quite a few 'off the menu' specials, including one soup, two appetizers, and about 3-4 entrees. Would have rather had them on an insert in the menu as it was hard to remember. We began with the flat-bread ($6) and chose the oven-dried tomato, mozzarella and oregano butter - VERY good combo - will try to make oregano butter at home even. Came from the oven hot garlicky and generously topped. Would highly recommend. We each ordered a Caesar Salad ($8) and found the dressing tangy, refreshing and generously served. The salad portion was huge and the lettuce crisp. Next time, will likely split one, as I couldn't finish mine. I opted for the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken ($16) and found it to be lightly sauced, topped with a relatively small amount of chicken strips (grilled) and served with an impossibly hard piece of bread. The menu says it's a 'garlic cream sauce' and I found it to be much lighter than the normally cloyingly thick Alfredo sauce from other restaurants; however, it was almost too thin to cling to the pasta. Will rethink this dish in the future. My husband ordered one of the daily specials, the Seafood Napoleon ($34). This was two slabs of salmon, layered with crab meat in between, perched on top of julienne veggies and mashed potatoes and covered with a lobster sauce. Not sure where the mashed potato idea came from, but it wasn't a good fit, as were the veggies - those are better served with a non-seafood/non-lobster sauced entree. The fish was generously portioned, cooked properly, appropriately tender and flaky and not dry. Overall, a pretty good dish, though oddly paired with those two sides. We finished with a shared creme brulee ($6) that was creamy, smooth and topped with a perfectly crispy caramelized sugar crust. Came with one strawberry as a garnish, which was the only thing left untouched when we left. Service was friendly, timely and it was a good place to try on a 'date night'. Total, with two glasses of wine for hubby (not including the complimentary one), coffee for me and the dinner as noted was $114 prior to gratuity....a little spendy for a weeknight dinner, but it's not our norm! Good food, decent wine selection and good service made this a place we will likely revisit.

On the Saturday night before Christmas we decided to go to Next Wood Fired Bistro & Vino Bar in Colleyville. Luckily we had decided early enough in the day to make reservations because the place was full. Although we have been here a few times before, this was the first time since the modest remodel. The building is an old Taco Bell but you would never know it once inside. The remodel wasn't drastic but it is a bit nicer decor. My companion had the shrimp scampi and pasta while I had the seared tuna. Both were very good. The shrimp were good size and the sauce flavorful. My tuna was ordered rare but was cooked just a little beyond that. Some of the edges were a little dry although still good. The wasabi and pepper sauces were very good. Although this restaurant is known for their wine and scotch selections we had neither this trip. Adult beverages were consumed and I did have a Drambuie after dinner, that's related to scotch. Service was just OK. Our server was good at explaining the daily specials but it took a long time to get our drinks and he disappeared for long periods. He also didn't suggest an appetizer which was alright since we didn't want one but that is not good for the restaurant's bottom line. Someone else served our entrees. We have never had a bad meal or bad experience at this restaurant. The menu changes often so the one on their website may not be completely accurate. They also have daily specials that aren't even on the seasonal menu. If you're in Colleyville and want a nice meal, this is a good choice.

Yum yum yummy. Fun menu with interesting twists and tastes but not so strange you're hesitant to try something. Interesting wine list as well with plenty in the affordable column, tho not much by the glass.

I love going to Next. It is simply the perfect place to go for almost any occasion. My husband and I celebrated Valentine's Day there this year (fabulous Beef en Croute!), I often join friends there for lunch (love the seared tuna salad, but always want to try the brie sandwich!), and I have been known to stop by to sit at the bar and enjoy a glass of wine. Whatever it is that you are looking for in a restaurant experience, Next does it and does it well. The staff is charming, and really focus on getting to know the customers, and the atmosphere is lovely. If you've not tried Next, check it out! You will not be disappointed.

Four of us visited Next as recommended by a friend. Sorry, not great. I ordered a Manhattan for starters with the request for extra maraschino to soak. No extra cherries. The waiter wanted to debate the origin of some sort of food with one of our table mates, which I found rude. I ordered the pork shoulder. It needed some sort of spice, very bland. Apparently the Chilean sea bass was excellent. Try that instead.

Eclectic, pan-European cuisine. Escargot appetizer was nice - not overly garlicky like some other places. The ahi tuna appetizer had a great kick to it - alas unappreciated by my spice averse son. Loved their Field Greens salad, which had interesting contrasts of flavors & textures that work well together: sweet, savory, citrusy, crunchy, soft, etc. Had the pork special for the entree. It was two chops put together & I thought I'd have trouble finishing it. After one bite, I didn't stop until I got down to the two bones. The pork was tender, flavorful, & cooked to perfection. Plus, the sauce just set off the inherent flavor. All in all, great place with great food. though, as others have noted, the layout of the place is a bit off - a holdover from its former occupant.

Good food, but very proud of the bar/wine. Three of us went to early dinner last night. We'd never been to Next before. Had Caprese salad (great, fresh basil and balsamic reduction was excellent), Penne w/ vodka, Lasagna, and Scallops. Desserts after. Food is downright solid. My issue with Next is the bar/wine pricing. I had a nice bourbon, which ran a staggering $21. That's a shot of bourbon from a bottle that I can get at any liquor store in town for $45. That's a bit steep. The waiter was very proud of Next's wine list, showing off the mention in Wine Spectator and such. The prices for relatively young vintages was....obscene. Easy to keep a great wine inventory when you price yourself out of the market of enjoyment. For a Tuesday night dinner, a $130+ tab for three folks relegates NEXT to the "nice, but..." category. Again, the food is solid.

The quality is slipping here. I'm a regular at Next and have enjoyed having them in the neighborhood. I've written glowing reviews of my experiences, have hosted parties here and recommended Next to friends. So... Last night my wife and I hosted two friends that had not visited Next. The pizza oven was being repaired and we could not enjoy our favorite prosciutto and fig flat bread, our waiter rushed through the menu (the always excellent Francois was not there last night) and then seemed to forget us and then some guy with two women dressed like hookers walked in and proceeded to stage a photo shoot next to our table. No one did anything or offered an explanation. Unbelievable. I finally got up from my guests and asked what was going on and was told the fellow with the "models" was a regular and was doing some promo for a vodka brand. At 7:30 on a Friday night. I can only hope this guy can replace the money I will no longer be spending at Next. I don't even remember what my food tasted like. Angry I didn't get up and walk out...

Ill make this short and sweet.. Use to be a regular and brought so many people here and spent so much money. Got treated poorly one too many times by the same bartender with a terrible attitude.. He even talked bad about us while we were still in the building with the manager sitting right there and letting it happen.. We will NEVER be going back!

Love their food! I could just eat off the starters all night. Try the crab/avocado/mango tower. It's awesome. And the Brie and cranberry appetizer is great too. They also make a fantastic martini!

If you want to pay steakhouse prices for bland food and service inside a remodeled Taco Bueno building, this is the spot. The food was ok but portions very small and certainly not worth the shockingly high prices. Service was spotty, especially for such a small restaurant. I have no issue with paying good money for great food, service, atmosphere, etc. However I've been here twice and feel like I've been robbed each time the check dropped, won't be coming back. Save your money for the type of place Next Wood thinks it is and go somewhere else.

This small restuarant in Colleyville is a such a sweet surprise. We visited for our third time tonight and was served by the handsome Francois. What an excellent server! I hightly recommend the escargot appetizer, which is totally different from your traditional fare. Servied with spinach, parmesan, cherry tomatoes, and a light cream sauce, you'll enjoy it very much. Follow that with the any of their Pizzettes. The Salumi with Arugula is delicious!

food is below average - copycat recipes. I found a bug in my salmon (which was dry as dirt) and when I called it to waiters attention, he did nothing to fix. Didn't offer to make another and charged me. The service was slow slow slow and the drinks were weak. For as much as they charge, there should be plenty of booze in it. The bartender didn't seem interested in doing his job. More interested in the tv. The woman making the pizzas in loud and obnoxious. I had a hard time hearing what my friends were saying over her loud mouth. I live in the neighborhood and will not be coming back. The mashed potatoes were the blandest thing I've ever eaten, and the pizza was burnt. Try another restaurant. This place is a rat hole - looks like a fast food restaurant.

Not a good experience. My flatbread had a hair cooked in! Yuck! And we ordered spinach artichoke dip that contained no cheese and was as thin as water. The rest of the food was acceptable, but portions are small and in satisfying. My wine glass also has a crack in it. Poor attention to detail.

This is an interesting little place with an intimate feel. They recently added a wine cellar in the front dining room with floor to ceiling glass that adds a beautiful wow factor to their atmosphere. The food is very good. They have a French waiter who is absolutely delightful and charming. They do offer a brunch which is good, not excellent. The entres are interesting and enjoyable.

First of all its $$$$ thats need to be changed from $$ because everybody cannot afford to spend that much money on just dinner for 2 and second food was okay but way over priced for the location not worth it...bottle of wine that you can buy it for $15 they charge $50 for that and cheapest glass of wine is $15 which is ridiculous, entree small piece of salmon very dry, mash potato no flavor and very little vegetable on the side for $32 that just not worth it. I would rather go and spend this much money somewhere really nice not here.

Came here a few days ago with the pickiest eater of all time-My Mom. I started with the daikon salad. It was nice and refreshing, although I didn't find the ingredients to be all that cohesive. But it worked. The Escargot dish was great! Served with a nice sauce that had spinach in it and two pieces of crostini. Next we had the grilled octopus. It was really great, flavors were nice. I could taste the smokiness through every bite. I would say that it was a bit salty. And for the entree, we had the half-duck which the server mentioned as a 'special'. I really enjoyed it! Was a bit pricey for what you get, but i enjoyed that it was simple flavors of the crispy duck laying on a bed of mashed potatoes which had a truffle essence to it. The best dish, I have to say, was actually the Pizzette which was ordered to-go for my man at home. We got the one with Serrano Ham, fig, and goat cheese. It was SOOO delicious! My only gripe is that while sitting in the back corner booth, I witnessed two of the staff members (I think they worked in the kitchen in the back because that is where they disappeared off to) displaying some bad hygiene in public. One guy was digging in his nose for a while. The other was waiting to use the men's room and was going after something stuck in between his back molars. I pray that he washed his hands after he used the restroom. YIKES! I realize this is human nature so I won't hold this against them...just thought it might be a good FYI.

Went for paella and was delicious. Nice selection of spanish wines to compliment the dish. And while there was a nice selection of tapas (small plates) the staff was not very informed on the choices nor able to adequately describe them. Ended up with a dish that was not as expected and would not have been requested if it had been explained correctly. Would recommend printing off a special full menu for these evenings.

At the time of me writing this review, this restaurant hasn't officially opened to the public. I was fortunate enough to be invited to a preview of things to come. I can't comment on the decor since, well, constructions was still going on. Also, since this was a preview, it was a set course meal. Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, a bit about the food. First up, home made yogurt topped with caviar and sweet olive oil. Next up, seared foie gras over toasted bread. 3rd item, duck confit wrapped in thinly sliced cucumber. On to fennel salad with cherry tomatoes and grapes. Once we cleaned up this plate, it was on to escargot sauteed in garlic and olive oil with cherry tomatoes. We finished the evening off with dry aged rib eye with baby dutch potatoes broiled in duck fat. What was my favorite? It's a toss up between the foie gras and escargot. Was there anything I didn't like? Are you NUTS?????? Everything was delicious, delectable, just plain and simply YUMMY. I can't wait for them to open. PS, they didn't pay me to write this review, they just fed me :) Oh and in case you're wondering where the pizza was, since the restaurant has pizza in its name, they were still building the wood fired pizza oven.

I was not impressed with this place. The seating is so close together, you're basically in the other diner's laps! We shared a pizette, and it didn't have sauce on it so it was really dry and flavorless. We asked for a side of sauce to dip the pizzette in, but it was cold and didn't help at all. The second star is for the wine, because the wine I had was actually great...wish I could remember the type. I would say maybe we ordered the wrong item and I would like to go back and try another menu item (the fish and chips looked really good), but the atmosphere was so squashed that I think if I'm going to drop $60 for a meal, I'll take my business elsewhere.

Stopped in Saturday, 5 Nov 2011 about 7pm. The place was busy, but we found two seats at the end of the bar, by the waitress station. Worked out fine, we prefer bar seating. From previous reviews, I was worried that I wouldn't like the decor (something about yellow and bright). True, the walls were yellow, but not overpowering. They also had booths along a wall or two (in a dull blue leather, I think). They do need a few more decorations on the west wall. I too was hoping for a less "metro" place and more traditional (more dark wood), but it really was fine. Seemed small, but I like that too. There is a back room with more seating. We ordered the soup of the day (parsnip soup), crab cakes and a flatbread pizza that was supposed to have Grilled onion marmalade, escargot, crème truffle, camembert cheese. The crab cakes were great! I'm not an expert, but I liked them. The flatbread pizza seemed to be missing the onion marmalade and the escargot. Quite dry. Good crust though. Easily improved. We were busy talking with new found friends at the bar so we didn't complain or even notice too much. The parsnip soup was excellent. It went right down the hatch! I could have had a couple bowls. The service was fine. Everyone seems to still be getting familiar with things there. I'm not worried about it. The bartender said they will have a grand opening when they make sure sure all the kinks are worked out. We'll see if things get smoother in the future. All in all, we liked the place and will go back. It's just down the road for us. Hopefully the Friday happy hours will be good there.

This place has a weird feel probably owing to the fact that it used to be a Taco Bueno. Step inside and you'll find an upscale (they serve duck!), pricey Italian restaurant. Their presentation, namely the outside signage and the menu, doesn't look very pulled together (but admittedly, I'm a font snob). The food and the service were both good. We went on a Wednesday evening around 5pm and there was only one other table of customers, making it seem there were waaay too many employees. However, we decided we will be returning sometime when we have another $50 to blow.

My wife, daughter, and I checked this place out as a change from our regular spots. The place is quaint inside although the tables are a bit close together as other reviewers have noted. I had the watermelon salad and the ahi tuna and both were fabulous! The service was friendly and the prices were not out of line. We will be back.

From what I hear, Next got off to a very rough start, but they've certainly ironed out any kinks now. The location itself is pretty uninteresting - it takes a lot to get someone to eagerly drive to Colleyville for a night out - and in a weird spot (if you aren't a local) but the interior is cozy and well-appointed. Tables are very, very, very close together, in a turn-sideways-when-walking sort of way, and the air conditioning is permanently set to Arctic, so be prepared with layers. The physical menu irritates me, I'll admit - it's very TGIFridays and incongruous with the rest of the experience. The food, though, is interesting. The Mediterranean salad is one I order every trip, and completely inhale - it's so good. The artichoke dip (not the one with crab, the other one) with crostini is so unusual - it's more of a soup consistency, served in its own little Staub (love!) - but really delicious. I unabashedly admit that I was wiping the inside of the casserole with bread to get the dregs. For entrees, I've tried the rosemary-skewered beef (better in theory than in practice) and the various ravioli on the day, each of which has been delicious. The real star, though, is the Mongolian duck special. It's easily one of the best duck dishes I've ever tried, with apologies to Oddfellows. Desserts lack inspiration, so better to fill up on appetizers and a huge entree than try to save room there.

Food mediocre and service with an attitude. What a combination! And whatever you do, don't ask if you can use their wireless while you're there - the owner refuses to allow customers access. What century are we in? Don't bother, there are plenty of other dining experiences that are worth it in the area - this one is not.

There were four of us for dinner. We had wine, appetizers (pork belly sliders which were great), each had a special, two desserts. Very expensive evening. $340. Wow. The food was very good (rich) but come on! When the entrees are around $18. - 20. each, I assumed that the specials would be about the same. Wrong. $36. Each. Like I said, it was good but next time we'll go to Del Friscos or Bob Chop house for that price.

Was almost turned off when we saw it was an old Taco Bell. Was closer to turning around when we saw the sign. About walked straight back to the car when the front entrance room wasn't air-conditioned on a 102 degree day. But we sure are glad we didn't. The food was incredible. Best Salmon I've tasted in my entire life. Drunken Rum Cake melted in the mouth as well. Great service, waiter new exactly what he was talking about.

I wasn't impressed or dissatisfied. I tried one of their pizzas. The taste was fine, except for the crust. The crust just lacked any flavor.

Meh. Pros - Effort is made to deliver a better product. Wide range of pricing for the wines. Fair pricing for both food & wine. Cons - Its not quite working. Food was bland, service needs training, and the menu itself is just plain ugly . The place has potential but needs professional restaurant guidance.

My husband and I love Next Wood Fired Bistro & Vino Bar. The atmosphere is what I'd refer to as relaxed and comfortable, not stuffy. We have introduced many friends and family to this incredible restaurant and they've all become fans. In the past year and a half we've been there for many Brunches, Lunches and Dinners as well as a handful of their wine tastings and we've never been disappointed! Tom (the owner's husband NOT the owner) has orchestrated a wonderful wine selection. Although his "day job" has nothing to do with the restaurant Tom (the guy at the bar who is NOT the owner) still comes to the restaurant in the evenings ready to share any information on the up coming wine tasting event while doing business with wine distributors at the bar. If Tom is not too exhausted he many stay long enough to take his wife "the owner" home after a long day. (Hope that clears a few things up). Own/Chef Ying makes the best Cedar Blank Salmon ....OMG! Filet of Beef Carpaccio appetizer is delicious and the Roasted Red Pepper appetizer is awesome.... My favorite salad is the Watermelon Cucumber with the Radish and Cucumber coming in second (both are seasonal) ....my favorite flat bread is the prosciutto and fig.... I could go on and on regarding the amazing food!. ;) The staff is aways very friendly and their service is great. We adore Deb and Francois and their service is top notch! If you've never been you're missing out!

Went for lunch only three tables being waited on, took awhile for the server I ordered Cubano Panini with chips and ice tea the waiter said the fries were homemade so I changed to the fries. Finally my lunch come out ice tea still has not come it has chips and instead of fries the Panini was cold and it did not looked pressed (oh it wasn't). The guy who brought could tell I was not happy and he said to take it up with the waiter then I saw him talking to the waiter and then nothing. Not a good experience probably will not go back

Our first impression when we walked in was the odor. We could smell a faint odor of sewage coming from the bathrooms, which are right by the front door. We were seated in the back room behind the bar and were uncomfortably cold the whole time. The back room feels disconnected from the rest of the restaurant. The menu (and restaurant in general) suffers from forced formality. We were hoping for a friendly Italian dining experience but had to choose from an expensive menu, without the benefits of free bread or salads with entrees. There was no salt or pepper on the tables, and the chairs were hard and uncomfortable. We probably won't go back. Too bad, because it is close by and we had high hopes.

It IS a little strange that you can tell it was a fast food place before, and there are no windows... And yet, you end up not really caring because it's so rare to get this kind of ingredient-driven food in the Fort Worth area. Plus, they did do a good job of decorating the space and making it more modern. I think they try a little hard to be formal and professional, but, again, I didn't really care because it's just nice to get great service and pretty good food. Good for a date, or a civilized lunch or dinner with friends. :)

We had a decent brunch here once. My husband got the biscuits and gravy, and I got the spinach quiche. His biscuits were very sweet, but the gravy was thick. My quiche was packed with spinach. I would give it a higher rating, but I went to dinner there one night and it was terrible. I got their shrimp dinner special, and I still cringe thinking about it. If you go, just stick to the flatbreads.

We came in on a busy Saturday night. We had reservations, so we were immediately seated. The special that night was Mongolian Duck and it was amazing. The crispy skin on the 1/2 duck was addicting. If the duck wasn't filling enough, the desserts are wonderful, especially the panna cotta.. They have a good wine and wine by the glass selection as well as bar selection. The cappuccino at the end of the meal was very nice. The prices are pretty reasonable. Our party had a very enjoyable evening at Next.

Food is overpriced and our overall experience was not great, especially considering the prices. Our total bill for 2 people (before tip, no drinks) was $60. Here is how the evening went: We walked in to a half-empty dining room; the hostess asked if we had a reservation (we did not), and then told us it would be a 25 min wait. When we were seated, it was next to a very large party (not an issue) in the back room, where again half the tables were empty. We ordered bread ($1 - yes they charge for it), French onion soup ($8 - even though the menu says $5), mushroom risotto ($14), and one of the nightly specials - filet ($35) with mashed potatoes and (Julianne) steamed vegetables - about 2 tablespoons. The menu posted on the website is misleading, as the vast array of "specials" are considerably higher in price than the items on the menu. The filet came with the chef's signature steak sauce, which was needed because it had no seasoning at all. Twice during the evening, the waitress taking care of the large party next to us used our table as a pit stop/dumping ground for her table. We complained to our waitress the first time she did it, and our waitress saw her do the second time, and I believe she said something to her - definitely not something you expect in a place like this (or like they believe they are). I feel like we paid too much for atmosphere and food we got. We won't be returning.

Since we live in Colleyville we like to give our local businesses a try. It was Saturday afternoon and I decided to go to the new restaurant and since it was my birthday, it was my choice. We parked in the larger parking lot on the North side of the building but couldn't find a sidewalk into the restaurant so we drove around to the South side of the building. Then we almost drove away because the "Open" sign wasn't illuminated. As we were driving away we noticed another illuminated sign that said "Open." We still weren't sure so we headed to the front door in search of some business hours on the door. There were none. We tried the door and, lo & behold, it opened. We were promptly greeted and seated. There was only one other table that was occupied, probably because anyone wanting to eat here didn't know it was open. I ordered the Caesar Salad & asked them to add chicken. The server said there would be an "Up charge." I expected as much. A few minutes later she came back to our table to tell me how much it would be. I told her it didn't matter. Maybe they should add that little notation to their menu like every other restaurant does. Then she came back to ask me if I wanted the salad served at the same time as my husbands sandwich. When one orders one item, it should be understood that the dish is to be served as a main course. The appetizers and lunch were then served promptly. The salad was very good and the Romaine lettuce was crisp. The chicken was obviously a Quarter chicken because the leg was attached to a portion of the small breast. It must have been a Cornish Hen due to the size. The seasoning was very good and it tasted as though it had been cooked on a rotisserie. The Caesar dressing was very good and didn't taste like it came from a bottle. I'm sure it must have been homemade. My husband ordered the Pumpkin Bisque, which was delicious, & the Panini with apples, which was served with Sweet Potato Fries on the side. The fries tasted fresh, not frozen! Score! My husband said the sandwich was great. I'm not certain if this restaurant has any desserts. I didn't notice them on the menu and we weren't offered them after we finished our meal. Just a few things I would recommend to the Owner and the server. For the sake of success, get your "Open" signs working. Put something outside to let drive by traffic know that the business is a restaurant and that it is "OPEN." Put the business hours visibly on the front door. Offer some bread while the customer waits for their meal. Most people understand an up charge for adding chicken to a salad. Don't make a big deal out of it. Let the customer know that the tea is flavored after they order it. Many don't like flavored tea & should be advised so you don't have to throw it out because the customer wasn't told in the beginning. This will save $ in the long run. I liked it, however. Know your menu. If the customer asks about any item, you should know the answer off the top of your head. Know what sauces are used, how a dish is prepared and what sides are offered. Always offer dessert before the check is prepared. You want your customer to spend as much as possible. Oh! The sign says it's a "Vino" bar? We weren't offered a wine list. Other than these obvious suggestions, we were very pleased with the service, the atmosphere and the food. WE WILL RETURN AND WILL RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AS A GOOD DINING OPTION IN COLLEYVILLE!

Very impressed and surprised at what a great place this is. The building has been vacant for quite a long time (locals would agree) but great to see a nice place like this nearby! Excited about the potential this place has going for it! I also hear they have plans to move nearby to a bigger and nicer place to further enhance the dinning experience, eagerly anticipating my next visit!

I visited Chef Ying at the restaurant. It's not open yet but, she was interviewing chefs and having them show her how they would make her recipes if she hired them. It was awesome! I got to try her pizza's and talk with her about her ingredients. She only buys the freshest ingredients. She buys organic when she can which is great. She has the work ethic to make her own broth daily. I liked that she doesn't order any frozen ingredients. I tried the Ying's Pizza which is a bit sweet with truffles, different cheeses, purple onions and sea salt - I give it a 10. I also tried the Margherita pizza and it was fresh and clean. No after taste because the ingredients are fresh and organic. She even buys the expensive flour so her crust doesn't overtake the entire taste of the pizza. I am going to eat there as soon as they open. The most important thing I noticed is her passion for quality food, she invents new dishes regularly especially for catering orders and she enjoys watching people's faces when they eat. She is very sweet and down to earth.

Nice atomsphere although very cramped. Service was a bit slow but I was with a group of 8 and the place was full on a Saturday evening for our 6:30 reservation. The staff had our table set up promptly for the reservation and we enjoyed the food. Wine list was very nice with good vintages at various price ranges for reds. Sorry I did not look at other wines. I plan to return and give it another try with a different entree. The mushroom starter was excellent but the Chicken breast Marsala entree was over salted for my taste. The meat was well cooked, moist and juicy.

My husband and I went here for V-Day and the food was really good. I ordered the filet mignon and it was very good. I think they should have more of a selection of food they offer it wasn't much to choose from. Our waitress was very nice.

THIS PLACE IS WHAT COLLEYVILLE NEEDED. Fresh ingredients, great cuisine for a new age of dining. I have enjoyed four meals in two week. The chef owner is friendly and the food is striking. EDIT 12/2013: Sorry for my initial 5 star review. I had to edit this because the person that I thought was the owner was actually their sous chef, Sage. He left about a year ago to start Tribeca which I love!!! Chef Yang is not very friendly and I have a strong opinion on her but don't think it a fair criticism because she reminds me of my mother in law so I can't taint her restaurant with my strong opinion about her personality and business decisions. As such I wish her the best and reduced my rating from 5 star to 3 stars (instead of 1 or 2 stars). At the initial time of posting this was the only restaurant of its kind. Since then Citrus Bistro and Tribeca have both opened so I guess the market was ripe for new american fine dining.

This place is fantastic! In a sea of chain restaurants, this place is personal, delicious and friendly. I had two great wines, amazing gnocchi and bread pudding. I always appreciate a cream sauce that's full of flavor and not heavy. My co-worker had Caramel gelato that was truly the best I've had! The prices are reasonable, though wine by the glass can be pricey but so worth it. Thanks Next Wood for proving to me that good food can be found in Texas.

First off, this place is small and the service needs some help, but other than that I recommend stopping in if you live nearby. Nice wine list and our waiter was very helpful in selecting a wine. So far, I have been there 3 times and I enjoyed the food very much. If you like pizza, order the one with ricotta cheese and caramelized onions. A little dry, but very tasty. If you like appetizers, you must order the roasted garlic artichoke dip...fantastic! On to entrees...the chicken marsala and garlic roasted pork loin were wonderful. Cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious. If you are looking for a place to meet a friend and have some wine and appetizers, this is a great spot. I wouldn't call it romantic (take out the TV's and maybe), but it would be a nice date spot. You could also just sit at the bar and watch a Ranger game. Overall, I recommend...just be aware that the service needs a little help.

Great local restaurant with attentive staff! Stephanie was very friendly, great sense of humor and knowledgeable about every dish. The Pizettes were nice and fresh. The fig, bacon and goat cheese was our favorite. I had the Scallop entree and it was perfect! My husbands steak (Strip) was great and he usually has something to complain about with every steak. The Parker County Peach cobbler was delicious and so was the homemade chocolate cake! We'll be regulars now...

We have eaten there about 6 times, I love the creativity in the menu, and always enjoy the surprise flavors. If they add a garden patio it would be perfect.

First impression was not great. Salmon was very dry. My wife ordered scampi and they brought her steak. I was hoping to be wowed but alas, no. I'll give it another month and try one more time in case this night was a fluke.

My first visit impressions: atmosphere - just ok, kind of looks like an upscale diner with a bar in it, chairs - not very comfortable(which I would expect in a wine bar), food - good, service - good, price - medium. Our order: fettucine alfredo with shrimp, crab cakes, tomato soup, chicken with marsala sauce(can't remember the name). Crab cakes - good size, good value, but overseasoned, couldn't taste the crab very much with all of the seasoning and sauces on the plate. Tomato soup - serving size small, seasoning not to my liking, but most will probably like it. Fettucine alfredo - excellent, love the fact that it's not drowning in sauce, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. Chicken with marsala sauce - very good. Did not like the choice of music and it was too loud, I really don't understand why restaurants want to add music to an already loud environment, but the speaker was right over our table and the music was pretty awful. If you must play music, lower the volume and pick something more relaxing, best to eliminate it altogether. Colleyville really needs a better selection of quality restaurants, and this one fits the bill. Probably would have given it a 3 1/2 if possible, but we'll definitely go back.

This is a new restaurant but you wouldn't know it because things run so smoothly. My husband ordered the lamb chops and were very surprised that they were so tender and delicious. I ordered the salmon on a cedar plank and it was the best I've eaten anywhere in the area. The salads with the homemade dressings were too good for words. Can't say enough about this place. They had live music one night and that was a very pleasing touch.

My husband made a reservation for this restaurant on Feb 12 for Valentine's Day. The hostess called and confirmed on Feb 13. Then 6 hours before our reservation on Valentine's Day, the hostess of the restaurant called and said it was a prefixed dinner menu for $55 each and she was calling each person to tell them. The restaurant did not tell us this before or during the reservation we made earlier. We cancelled. Therefore, no Valentine's Day dinner for us. Very disgusting and no way to treat customers. If they had just told us earlier, we could have made other plans. We went to this restaurant frequently, but the way we were treated today, we will not be returning as the money she can make today is more important to the owner/chef than frequent customers who come weekly.

The food here is fantastic! The chef made something basic like Penne with Vodka Sauce really pop and my boyfriend had the linguini with seafood that he said was awesome... and he's very picky about his seafood. They have great looking pizzas... like what you would see in Italy... can't wait to try one ... My boyfriend asked if they could do an appetizer of just escargot since he saw it as a flatbread option. They obliged with an appetizer of escargot on bread with a sherry sauce and tomatoes that was to die for. Escargot prepared just right... not too buttery. Topped it off with an awesome South African Pinotage. Chef Sage is a brilliant chef and a delight to talk to. The atmosphere is a little flat.... maybe could use some Sinatra or jazz.... but the food and service is so great we will definitely go back.

In our quest to find out where Chef Sage Sakiri went, we found a tweet related to this place, so we thought we would give it a try. Our waiter was very attentive, although it did seem he had quite a few tables to cover. The place was crowded, so if you go on a weekend night, I'd suggest a reservation. We had one, so we were able to get seated immediately. We ordered crab cakes and flat bread for appetizers. They were both wonderful. I would assume that the flat bread was baked in their wood fired oven. We had a caesar salad which was good, but nothing special. For our entrees, we had the garlic roasted pork loin with apple dijon glaze and the grilled steak on rosemary skewer. I actually wanted the duck but they were out. I was pleased with the savory taste of the marinated steak. The sauce for the roasted pork loin was also very good. Perhaps we were a bit disappointed not to find a dish (at least from what we could tell) with a signature Sage Sakiri sauce, but maybe next time. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and I'm sure we'll be returning.

OK--so we live down the street from Next and have been looking forward to going. We get there and order salads to start. I asked our server to bring bread with our salads and was informed they do not serve bread. Ok, so I'm adaptable and I think well, this will just leave more room for my entree... When the main dish arrived my husband's portion was so small I had to give him half of mine. So some of you are thinking we are pigs--right? Wrong, we are average eaters and split at many restaurants. We voiced our opinion and apparently we are not the only first time customers who have complained both about the "no bread" rule and the size of the servings! Come on--this is Italian food--give us good bread and fill us up! The taste of the food was very good if you are willing to pay ala carte prices for appetizers, salad, entree and desert to walk away satisfied. Personally, we are not willing to do this in the land of restaurants where competiion is fierce. Next--I hope you read this and change. Your food was tasty! We'll get pizza or flatbread to go next time--they looked great!

We went to NEXT last Friday night meeting some friends there. Our friends have been there several times for dinner and Sunday brunch. We shared some appetizers, flat bread with figs and goat cheese was really good. I ordered the Salmon on a Cedar Plank and loved it. My husband had the pork chops and thought they were good, but a little rich. Friends had the Risotto and the special of the night which was Duck. They were both completely satisfied with their meals. For dessert we order the Creme Brulee. In a word, awesome. I'm not a wine drinker so had beer. My friends shared a bottle of pricey wine and they were very pleased. Our waiter was great. He was from Croatia by way of Oklahoma. Other waiters stopped by to say hi to our friends who were regulars. The chef also recognized them and said hi. Very friendly environment. I hope this place makes it, Colleyville sure needs it! We'll be back.

Had dinner here Saturday night with some friends . Absolutely love this place. The restaurant is tastefully decorated . The bar is a good place to hang out . We were seated promptly . Our waiter was on the spot taking drink orders . We ordered SeaBass , Black Cod , and 2 Ribeye Specials . For appetizers Hatch Green Chiles Cigars and a Peach Cheese and Prosciutto plate . The peaches and cheese were a hit . Very fresh and filling . I also had the Peach and Tomato Salad . Wow I want one now as I write this . I was informed the Black Cod was sold out . Dang it ! I ordered a Fried Green Tomato dish with Cajun Crab Louie . Also a side of Mushroom Risotto . Our dishes came and all were pleased . The Sea Bass with the Asparagus Purée was the best dish I've tried in a while . Yummy . Steaks were cooked to order . The Fried Green Tomato with Crab perfectly crisp tomatoes and the spicy crab paired well . Be back soon for more .

(5)Stafford J.
(2)Chandria M.
Our first time to go and went for Sunday Brunch. Food was great! Highly recommend the Crab Benedict. My husband had the chicken fried steak which he liked, however, it was not "lightly" battered per the menu. Service was great although our waiter was not very personable. We look forward to a dinner visit.
(4)Darby K.
(5)Kevin H.
Service was non existent. Rude hostess. They have a digital marquee outside but they despise walk ins.
(1)Matt H.
The pork tenderloin is very good. Duck breast was very tender and juicy as well. Good for a nice relaxing dinner.
(4)nina j.
to start with, prices are a bit high. some of the food isn't as good as they think it is but some items are. atmosphere is nice, a little upscale but not pretentious, nice bar. adding a rant here. we were having dinner on a Saturday night, again this is a nice place, people spending some decent money. some family is there with 2 young girls, one of them in a bathing suit and flip flops. no t-shirt, or coverup, just a bathing suit. really! take the kid to mcdonalds if she won't get dressed. I think a restaurant has the right, and SHOULD refuse service to anyone not appropriately dressed for the venue.
(3)Rick NJessica K.
Great food, appetizers, salad and entrees. What's lacking is atmosphere, the lighting is too bright and there is no music. It would be a huge improvement to pay attention to the details.
(3)Jessica W.
Chilean Sea Bass and Butter Poached Lobster were phenomenal! Pages and pages of wines in the wine list. A wonderful treat! We will be back for sure!
(5)Mysti S.

(4)Maura G.
Yum yum yummy. Fun menu with interesting twists and tastes but not so strange you're hesitant to try something. Interesting wine list as well with plenty in the affordable column, tho not much by the glass.
(4)Kelli C.
We eat here frequently and have never had anything but an extremely positive experience. Food is fantastic. Best eggs benedict I have ever had and the gnocchi is amazing. Friendly helpful staff and nice atmosphere. Love, love, love it.
(5)Liz M.
(5)Leah C.
(3)Gideon F.
(5)Joe B.
(3)Rick D.
This place is superb and fabulous! Their drinks selection are exceptional. We had their dinner specials , the sea bass and the veal. It was so tasty and delicious. Elegant dining place and highly regarded service. Kudos to Ying and the staff!
(4)Tom M.

(1)Lisa S.

Food was amazing, eclectic and interesting. I am super picky! Everything was fresh, handmade, and special- we don't often try new places -- but this experience paid off! It would be nice if they had more tables. Service was good.
(5)Johnny V.
I've gone here several times and the food has always been very good. Their watermelon salad is fabulous! The service can be hit or miss but the food is always worth the trip.

I drive all the way from Dallas to go to Next! Fabulous food, wine selection, and atmosphere. EVERY dish I have eaten here is delicious and special. The wait staff is very accommodating and personable.
(5)Peter W.
food is below average - copycat recipes.

Amazing brunch. The croissants were perfection. The biscuits and ham sliders were fantastic. Highly recommend
(5)Katharine C.
(2)Susan R.

(4)Ashleigh D.
The portions are sooooo small! The food is so expensive, and it's very mediocre.

(4)Summer H.
(3)Steve W.

(1)Linda R.
(3)Brandon T.
(5)Derek N.
I wasn't impressed or dissatisfied. I tried one of their pizzas. The taste was fine, except for the crust. The crust just lacked any flavor.
(3)Prince H.

Not a good experience probably will not go back
(2)Carolyn C.
(2)Hilde M.
Tasty pizza, large wine selection, friendly and cozy atmosphere. I will definitely be going back.
(4)Melanie C.
(4)Anne W.
(2)Ralph W.
This is a five-star restaurant in my opinion service was excellent wine was excellent I will definitely go back to this place. More than once. And I did.
(5)Alyce K.
Food mediocre and overpriced bread extra when small steak $36
(2)Morgon D.
Food was good. Overall service is awful, starting with the hostess to our smug waiter.
(1)Cynthia D.
(4)Erica H.

(4)Chad O.
(4)Chris G.

Excellent food! Owner is great and fresh food always. Hidden gem.
(5)Txgirl M.

(5)Christina S.
(4)Roxanne D.
(5)O S.
We have eaten there about 6 times, I love the creativity in the menu, and always enjoy the surprise flavors. If they add a garden patio it would be perfect.
(5)A. C.

(4)Jamie T.
(5)Carol E.
