Tasty! My buddy and I take turns picking an establishment to try and this was my choice. I was having a health conscious day so I had a grilled chicken breast and veggies. The price was reasonable, the place was clean, the food was pretty good. I don't know if I'll go back but I wouldn't not go back... if you know what I mean.

Everyone I know is crazy about this place. I like it, but I don't feel the need to go more than a couple of times a year. The barbecue chicken is great, but the enchiladas everyone raves about were far too sour and disappointing. Mostly I just enjoy their side items, (mac n cheese and twice baked taters) and their peach cobbler.

CC is one of my favorite lunch places. Half Chicken White with baked sweet potato and camp fire veggies.

I ate here last night and had the grilled chicken platter. The texture of the chicken was like rubber and on top of that cold. Even my sides were cold. I did complain to the person who bussed our table and he offered to bring different chicken, but I declined since I could stomach eating anymore food from there! Also, their blackberry cobbler doesn't taste like any cobbler you might have had, simply awful.

Had the 3 piece chicken dark with campfire veggies and green beans. Chicken was flavorful, but a little dry. Ultimately not as good as Kroger's rotisserie chicken (yeah, you heard me--Kroger gets best nods for grocery store rotisserie bird in Dallas). Campfire veggies was a mix of squash, zucchini and bell peppers, not the tastiest combo in my opinion. Green beans were nice and fresh, with just the right amount of crisp in them, despite that I took the meal to go. Best to order ahead at this location; Cowboy Chicken gets packed around lunch and dinner hours, so much so that there isn't much seating left in the dining room. Patio dining is available during warmer months. Service was brisk and friendly despite the rush. Great that they have healthy options and calorie counts on the board and online; makes choosing a good balanced meal easy. Apparently, the most lauded items on the menu are the enchiladas and their twice-baked taters (both not so healthy). I'll be sure to try them the next time I visit.

(**** out of *****) Food - great slightly smoky chicken is seasoned boldly and served with all manner of Southern favorites such as sweet potato, okra, etc. Yee, haw! (*** out of *****) Atmosphere - cafeteria style. Get your own food, drinks and stand in line to pay. (***** out of *****) Service - they are ideal if you are in a hurry and on the go. I phone in my order before I leave the house. By the time I get there, my order is ready for me. I'll be in and out in minutes. Conclusion - I snuck in another star because of the incredible value. Their lunch special is only $4.95 for a drumstick, a thigh, a roll and 2 side dishes. If you join their mailing list, then you'll get a coupon for a free fruit cobbler with ice cream. Also, they have a customer loyalty program. Every time you eat there, they'll stamp a card. After you get 10 stamps, then you'll get a free meal. That's a LOT of food for under $5 ! Healthy, tasty, and affordable daily dining. What more can you ask for?!

The food here is fantastic for the price. I haven't eaten at a lot of places where the vegetables actually have flavor on their own. Chicken is well seasoned and delivery is quick.

I'm giving these guys five stars because they remembered my order! That is pretty impressive. I don't know the guys name but apparently he saw me coming in and before I had even finished ordering, my order was ready to go! He does not know my name but remembered my face AND what I like to eat. As soon as I walked in, he began getting my order ready. That is what you call proactive! & that is superb customer service. Great job Cowboy Chicken!

I've been to the other locations and this one is just about the same - so I'm going to paste in my other review and add comments as needed. Cowboy chicken is YUMMY! I love their rotisserie chicken. Its deliciously seasoned and has crispy skin (which i try not to eat but thought I should mention) on the outside. The chicken is juicy not dried out like some rotisserie places. The salad left a lot to be desired. I'm not sure if it was the actual salad or my choice of dressing but something had way too much cilantro in it. The rolls are warm and yummy (but if you'd rather they will but a pita in place of your roll) and the twice baked potatoes are the best I've ever had (the last time I got them at this location they were a little dry and boring.) My friend had fried okra and another friend had fries and they both liked those options. The mac and cheese gets a c, but this place still gets 4 stars for the chicken and twice baked taters (usually)! Update - the chicken tortilla soup is good too!! :) This location would maybe lose a star for being a slow or because my potatoes weren't AS AWESOME as they could have been, but because its only 5 min from my house and keeps me from having to drive across the plex to get my cowboy chicken fix I'm keeping it at 4 stars.

My wife and I got the 3 piece dark meal today and was highly disappointed! I can understand breast meat getting a little dry, but legs and thighs being dry is unacceptable, especially using the method Cowboy Chicken uses. The manager claims that he will add my name to the comp list as a please come back gesture. I'll give them one more try.

I finally was able to get to one of their locations, just wish I had one closer! I have only tried the rotisserie chicken here, with mac and cheese and green beans, and I have the same opinion as one of the other reviewers. chicken and pasta were great, but I will never get the green beans again. They had a smoky, ash tray taste and were barely cooked. There are plenty of choices for my sides for next time, though!

Cowboy Chicken is an interesting place. They have a large oven roasting 15 to 40 chickens at once. Food is basic country/southern fare and is good. Not great for people on diets but you can pick and choose. The problems with this place are more physical than conceptual. People ordering line up between the register and the door. They order and go to the drink station. From the drink station, there's no flow into the dining area so people with full drinks often cut back through the line of people waiting to order. The solution might be as easy as directional signs or maybe putting lanes on the floor so people know to go into the dining room. It creates the impression of congestion and is a bit frustrating. I think they put the place in to small of a space but with a little arranging or directional planning this could be relieved.

Plenty of times I've been in here and been glad there's a competitor to Boston Market. Almost always I order the half chicken - good fall of the bone meat though it is on the salty side for my taste. Also it didn't come as much surprise that the white meat is sometimes a bit dry - which can't be helped much since its all in the rotisserie for the same amount of time. And of course there is the wide variety of sides, 17 in all from the super healthy to the decadent. I almost want a pat of butter or 2 to go with the sweet potatoes and squash but even alone theyre good. Campfire veggies - these do not sit limp in a pool of warm water "steamed" waiting to be served. The black beans and black eyed peas are both good, even if they are almost the same thing. Twice baked TATERS, as long as theyre hot and aren't from an off batch (got one once with way too much butter, didnt think that was possible), best side on the menu. Skip the roll. Just do it. Have dessert instead, unless maybe Cowboy replaces them with biscuits.

The lunch special with a quarter dark chicken and two sides plus a roll was a good value for the money. The chicken had a nice bit of smoke flavor and was neither too dry nor sopping wet with juice. It looked like the sides included in my to go order, twice baked potatoes and creamed spinach, both were designed to travel without spilling everywhere. They came in large scoops that held their shape all the way home. Both were tasty and well seasoned. The potatoes had a good spud taste that wasn't overwhelmed by the other ingredients in this concoction. I see lots of comparisons with Boston Market here, so I'll add my opinion to the pile. For the food, I think Cowboy Chicken wins mainly due to its chicken having good flavor as opposed to Boston's bland bird. For ambience and sit-down dining, Boston has the edge over Cowboy. The space at this location seemed cramped for the number of tables and the layout of the entry, ordering/cashier and drink station seemed inefficient. Also the acoustics are horrible. While waiting for my order it seemed like every possible decibel of clangor and clamor were assaulting my ears, reflecting off the uniformly hard surfaces. I'm glad I ordered to go and could dine at home in peace.

A great place to enjoy a simple meal. I decided to stop by after craving chicken and wanted a healthy alternative than my usual fried chicken! As I came in, the smell and seeing all those chicken spinning made me hungrier!! Since it was my first time.. I did get a chance to see the menu prior before coming.. but still didnt know what I wanted.. so I just stuck with the simple lunch special.. 1/4 dark with 2 sides and roll for $4.99.. drink is extra.. wasnt bad on my budget at all! My two sides were the salad, and green beans.. which both were awesome.. the salad is serve in its own bowl with tomatoes, celery, cucumbers, and onions.. so this made me almost full! Some may consider that salad a meal! :P The green beans had a little crunch and it seem like it was roasted, but it was decent. The chicken was pretty good.. for a person who only had Walmarts chicken.. it was a lot better.. The meat was juicy and tender.. and the skin was able to come off easily! So that was a plus..too bad it wasnt fried thought! Anyways if you do get a chance to go... EAT THAT DAMN ROLL!! its freaking amazing!! Words cannot describe how wonderful and sweet it was to me.. man it reminds me of like a great cafeteria roll... overall the meal itself was a pleasant surprise. I know for sure that people were ordering their enchiladas.. and it looked great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A friend even mention their were kick ass.. so I think I will try that next time! Maybe even that cobbler!! So go try this place out and see for yourself!

I got the lunch special. 1/4 dark meat chicken and two sides. When I went in the place was PACKED. Lots of business folks chowing down. The chicken was juicy and had good spices. Nothing fancy or overpowering, which I can dig. I was super stoked about their twice baked potatoes but was pretty disappointed. My serving was dry and lacked flavor. Also it didnt seem like the ingredients where blended well. Maybe I got a bad batch? However their mac and cheese and that roll were delish/ All in all I liked it. And I cant argue with 5 bucks for all that food. Also they have a plethora of sides, the sqaush and sweet potato are definitely on the list for my next visit.

Good rotisserie chicken and they don't play when it comes to sides! The chicken is a tad salty, but the white meat chicken was moist and the chicken skin was just perfect. It's a casual place to eat, which is nice when you don't feel like getting all dolled up or making a huge deal of going out to eat. I ordered the 1/4 white chicken and for the sides: mac & cheese and twice baked potatoes. YUM. Everything was delicious and I also got a roll, but didn't give it much thought. I'd rather trade the roll in for another side... Before leaving, we ordered some cobbler with ice cream and it was DELICIOUS. The portions were large enough to share between 3 and take some "to-go." Not recommended for groups larger than 4 based on the way the tables are set up. I'll be back again, but it'll have to be before they open the Raising Canes across the street...

I'm not sure whether I really like this place or not. I do like the lunch deal that's actually available on the weekends! It's $4.99 for 1/4 dark meat with 2 sides. Although I'm not a huge fan of dark meat, the deal is just too good to pass up. Also, if you check-in, there's a free offer of a cobbler. In this case we got a peach cobbler and I was super excited for it! We go back home to eat our food and the chicken is not bad - I didn't think the skin was crispy enough, but it was still flavorful. The sides that we got with both our meals were not bad, but not great. The mac n cheese was dry and the corn was just corn. The fries weren't too bad and the loaded baked potato was also kind of dry....I think I needed to add some butter to the loaded baked potato and restir it to make it more fluffy and moist...but I'm no expert cook so I wasn't sure if that was gonna work or not. So I'm ready for my peach cobbler, but to my disappointment, it was mushy and bland and just plain gross. No wonder they're giving these out for free with a check-in...they're not selling enough! Definitely try it out for yourself, but I don't think you're gonna like it....

We've been to Cowboy Chicken many times and have tried a variety of menu items. My partner tends to get the half chicken meal and is always happy with it. I especially like the chicken enchiladas with the creamy tomatillo sauce, but also like their implementation of chicken salad. The "chicken salad salad" has 2 scoops of chicken salad on a bed of greens with warm toasted pita. The wood-roasted rotisserie flavor pervades all the chicken dishes in a very good way. The only disappointment I've had there is their cobblers. They are super sweet with a rich brown sugar and butter crumble. The crust (which it doesn't have, only the streusel topping) is needed to provide a contrast with the sweet fruit in terms of texture and flavor.

Stopped in today and had 3 Chicken Enchiladas with 2 veggies (Corn and French Fries) - This location appears to be very conservative on the topping used for the enchiladas and leaving them very dry, luckily someone in the kitchen saw this and threw a giant handiful of cilantro on top of them to hide this fact. The French Fries were older and dried out, but the corn was awesome and the only reason this location is getting 2 stars, if it wasnt for the corn this is actually a CC location worthy of 1 star. They had a small group of peopl woking the registers (4) and yet with all of them standing around, no one cleaned any tables or the floor, so I had to search most every table to actually find 1 that wasnt to bad and wipe it off my self, but it was surrounded by mac and cheese on the floor, very sub par even for this place. I am left to believe that the 4 people at the register were all managers and they were waiting for the staff to come in and clean the place up, its my best guess. Now if you are a tourist and want to see a guy in a cowboy hat while you are visiting, stop by this location and check out the guy in the white straw cowboy hat, I know tourists would get a hoot outta the idea of what Texas is :(

Good rotisserie chicken. Nicely seasoned. The meat doesn't have too much of that weird chewy sticky thing that you get from Boston Market. The rotisserie is fired by hardwood, I'm calling that a plus. I had the mac and cheese and the creamed spinach. The mac and cheese was just good. The noodles were a bit soft for me. It had a creamy consistency and was not a hit but I have no complaint. Creamed spinach was finely chopped. It contained onions which turned off the spouse. Again, no complaint. Service was quick and friendly. If it is close to home pick up a whole chicken on the way home from work. Reasonably priced pain free week night dinner that hits the spot. Use the leftovers to make enchiladas!

Same good chicken that I remembered from my visit to the location over on Preston. The beans were still good. The fried okra was ot and fresh. Unfortunately, I felt they were straddling the borderline of being ridiculously slow. There were maybe 3 tables in there when we walked in, and it still took a good while to get our order. They may have been frying my okra fresh, but that doesn't even half as long as it took for the meal to arrive at my table. A couple of the employees were just standing around watching the manager-dude do everything. Still good food, but if you are in a hurry, you might end up inhaling your food once it arrives.

Another outpost of the local rotisserie chicken joint. The chicken is roasted over some wonderful smelling hardwoods that makes the entire section of Hebron/Park smell amazing. My favorite is the chicken enchiladas. The award-winning twice baked potatos, however, left much to be desired. Don't worry though - there are lots of other sides to choose from.

  • Austin C.

I usually get the 3 piece dark with campfire veggies and twice baked potatoes. I have also had there salads but were not a fan of their dressings. The campfire veggies are really good but sometimes over sauced. Its good but not as good as Zoe's Kitchens. The twice baked potato is to die for. Its got a nice crispy top filled with everything you want from a baked potato. I also enjoy the chicken better than Boston Markets as the hickory original taste is best with out any additional sauces. With a wide variety of sides this a great place for a reasonable priced and healthy lunch or dinner,

WOW, WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!! after all the reviews i read and recommendation from someone else this was nothing but mediocre. i got the chicken which was dry!! i got the twice baked potato which was okay, i i didnt even finish all of it and also got the mac and cheese and that was nothing special. I also tried the peach cobbler, my wife makes much better (of course I better say she makes better cobbler). I dont know if you remember Kenny Rogers chicken, the same concept wood burning roterissie chicken. Maybe I just went on a bad day.

I ordered a half chicken with twice baked "potaters" (as they call them) and ranchero beans. The chicken was fantastic. It was very juicy and flavorful, and the skin was crispy and brown. The meat released easily from the bones, and it was easy to separate the meat from the fat and cartilage. It was seasoned well, but not too salty. The ranchero beans were tasty as well, featuring cilantro, jalapenos and onion in a simple broth with pinto beans. A definite winner. The twice baked "potaters", however, didn't fare as well. I guess I didn't know what to expect, but basically the potato is grated into pieces a little smaller than rice, and mixed into a fairly lackluster cheese sauce. It tasted like, well, potatoes and cheese, and not much else. I mixed in a little pepper and hot sauce to enhance the flavor, but I'll be skipping this side next time. All in all, a great meal and a pretty good value (1/2 chicken with two sides and a drink was under $10).

Is good but not great. For the price and amount that you get I am a fan. Someone on here compared it to grocery store rotisserie chicken, which truthfully I can't decide whether I agree with that or not, but grocery store rotisserie chicken is also cheap and pretty tasty. Service can be slow, but the food is good and cheap and sometimes that is plenty to make me happy.

  • Eddie H.

Good stuff and a cheap meal too! Came here for lunch today and had the 1/2 white which came with 2 huge pieces of chicken, 2 sides and a roll. I got the mac and cheese and the twice baked potato. The mac and cheese kinda tasted Kraft like to me so I skipped it and devoured the rest. The potato was pretty good but the real winner was the chicken! Very moist and flavorful and the sauce was like a buffalo barbecue kinda sauce which was soo good. We also got an order of okra for the table and it did not disappoint! Very crispy and not too greasy.....the only thing besides the mac and cheese that I wasn't a fan of was the roll...kinda plain and boring.

Our meals were less than impressive. The kids options were quite limited and neither liked what they got. As you might expect they can be picky, but with limited options the "safe" choices at most restaurants were not available. I had a grilled chicken platter which was overcooked and burned on one side. The green bean side was good but the okra was nothing special. Another person had rotisserie chicken which was good but the side salad and tortilla soup were not very good. Perhaps choosing some different sides would have yielded better results but we will not be back.

My family loves this place. One of the few places you can get a good vegetable selection. We did find out the hard way they have two different salads. Check the menu close if you decide to choose salad as a side item. They have some great sauce on their chicken enchiladas. They are full of chicken and to me as good as any tex-mex restaurant. Haven't eaten much of their other than their extensive list of veggies. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table.

Disappointment! I just bought a whole chicken as I do at least once a week. This is the first time I have had a problem with it. I got home and my kids took one bite and said it was gross. I looked at it, and yes. The skin is chewy almost raw looking and the meat looks pink. (I will attach a photo and hope it does justice). I called cowboy ckn and spoke to Alex, to whom I explained the situation. He told me that if the ckn has been sitting in the box for a while, that the skin will loose its crispyness. And that if there is no blood in the ckn or in the juices, that it is fully cooked. I explained to him that I have never had this problem before. I was told (in a very nice sarcastic voice) that next time when I order ckn, I need to ask for it crispy or non crispy etc. ... I guess I am the stupid one bc I didnt kno I had to request it that way. I just thought it always came perfect like every other time I have ordered it! Cowboy Chicken, maybe next time when I call in the order YOU should be the one asking me if i want it crispy or not! I was not searching for a freebie, all I wanted was a replacement. One that I would have to drive out of my way and time while my kids sit at the dinner table waiting for me to come back!!! (I told "Alex" thank you, I would just put it to cook longer in my oven since he didnt offer a replacement and as good customer service he was, he said "ok"). Good one fornthe businesses, Alex is a keeper!

Great chicken to be ate here. I came here during the week for a quick dinner because we didn't have anything thawed for dinner. Had the rotisserie chicken (full) and took that home in a bag. With my luck their POS system was down and they had to do things the old fashioned way. This caused some chaos in the kitchen and some long wait times. I was wonderfully surprised by how comfy and cozy the place was. The warm open fire rotisserie grill creates this delicious smelling aroma as you enter. You can visibly watch the chicken roasting and turn. This is a perfect place to quickly grab food on a cold texas day when you're too lazy to cook! For the food, the chicken was very nicely seasoned a little on the salty side and borderline salty but tolerable. The skin of the chicken was deliciously crispy (i love crispy chicken skin!) and the inside was a little dry on the chicken breasts the rest of the chicken was very moist (legs, theighs, etc). The full chicken was enough to feed Rachel and I and we had enough leftovers for one lunch (for her). Not a bad deal 8ish bucks for takeout dinner! Can't wait to try the sides the next time!

We had the Vaquero Chicken that is served with rice and black beans that are fabulous! The chicken breast was juicy with a nice BBQ sauce that had a touch of spiciness to it that made my tastebuds very happy...also served with some warm flat bread. It was a great place to meet our friend, Vince, until they turned on the music and we could hardly hear each other talk. But the food was good!

To me, Cowboy Chicken is somewhere between a 3 and a 4. It's good, but it's not like OMG amazing. When you walk in, it does certainly smell OMG amazing. You can see the wood fire blazing away with racks of chickens sizzling and rotisserie-ing right there. Mmm delicious. Since the place smelled so great and features the rotisserie chicken, I had to get it. Normally, I dislike any food with bones in, but I can't resist the rotisserie. I got the 1/4 chicken, white meat. The plate comes with two sides, but I added on a third: corn fritters, fried okra, and campfire veg. The boyfriend got a grilled chicken breast (he likes rotisserie chicken, but the sodium and grease makes him feel like crap later due to a lack of gallbladder) with their famous twice-baked mashed potatoes and some campfire veggies. The girl at the counter was really patient with me going "erm uh errrmm uhhhh not sure... errrr.. crap" because I'd never been there. Once we ordered, she gave us a number and we sat at the wobbliest table ever. haha. There was a piece of napkin shoved under one of the table base legs. I rearranged it and it was much better! The food was delivered relatively quickly and the guy who dropped it off was very nice as well. The chicken is good. MMmm rotisserie goodness. I ate as much of the chicken off those bones as I could possibly stand. The corn fritters were full of a very creamy corn. Not like a hush-puppy or anything. The creaminess freaked me out a little at first, but they were really tasty. The okra was awesome. I LOVE fried okra and theirs tasted fresh: the batter wasn't over powering and the pieces of okra were very large for the most flavor. The campfire veggies were a little disappointing to me. They were cooked in a salty sauce (almost reminded me of a soy sauce), and there was a lot of the sauce. I thought they'd be simply sauteed veggies in some oil, but they weren't. The boyfriend ate all of his grilled chicken breast and said it was good. He loved his campfire vegs, but he'd also had them before and knew what he was getting in to. What I will say is that I totally should've gotten the mashed potatoes like he got. Those things are damn good! Get them. Trust me. So overall, it's a good place. I'd like to try their enchiladas (I love me some enchiladas) at some point, and I'll definitely get their potatoes next time. The biggest downside to Cowboy Chicken to me was the price. It was a little spendy for a quick lunch for the two of us. My 1/4 chicken meal (plus an add'l veggie), his grilled chicken breast meal, and 2 drinks was close to $30. I'll be back as it was tasty, but the price will keep me from being a super frequent customer.

Our first time in and it was fabulous! I had the grilled chicken platter with fries and campfire veggies for my sides. Absolutely delicious. Chicken was moist and tasty, the fries were cooked crispy on the outside how I like it and the veggies were a combo of diced squash, zucchini, bell peppers and onions grilled and tossed in teriyaki sauce. The meal sounds like it shouldn't go together, but the flavors all complimented each other. My husband had the chicken enchiladas, Spanish rice and black beans as recommended by the cashier. The enchiladas were amazing which I did not expect from this place. The sauce was thick and creamy and Co osteotomy covered the enchiladas. He got 2 enchiladas and the only criticism is they were a little small. The Spanish rice was basic and the black beans were a little spicy for my husband but he has a weak tolerance for spicy. Service was fast and very friendly with employees checking in on us multiple times even though business was steady.

Pros: Perfect Service, Excellent chicken and sides, Cons: Uh, I'm thinking... After a blissful morning of heavy petting and viewing several Epic Rap Battles of History videos on YouTube, Miss L and I developed a powerful hunger for all things home cookin'. As we did not have the hookup on any Sunday suppers from which we could mooch, we navigated to the Yelp app on the iPad to find us some finger lickin' chicken. Two things I can't emphasis enough about Cowboy Chicken - quality menu offerings and excellent service. We both selected their staple, rotisserie chicken (I the half, she the quarter). From the abundance of sides available, I opted starchtastic goodness (fries and mac 'n cheese), she decided on twice baked potatoes and green beans. The chicken was extremely well seasoned and juicy. The sides, often an afterthought at "order at the counter" joints, were prepared to perfection. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. While this was not a full service dining establishment, orders were delivered to our table promptly, and a member of the staff was constantly on hand to ask if we required additional condiments and such. They were extremely busy when we arrived, and the seating arrangement became a little odd due to the Tetris-like manipulation of the multiple four-top tables in the dining area throughout the course of the lunch service. As such, it was necessary for different parties to commingle at the same table. This resulted to a somewhat unusual community dining experience, comfortably appropriate for a Sunday lunch. So yeah, 5 stars on the board. Salud!

Half chicken is always good and the side are tasty. Today I veered off to drumstick land and it fell quite flat. Sticky glaze on dry overcooked chicken. Recommend avoiding this dish. The chicken half is great though!

The rotisserie chicken is better and more flavorful at Boston Market. I also had the green beans, which sucked and pailed in comparison to KFC's (which is southern cooked with bacon...yum). However, I absolutely LOVE their mac & cheese...oh so delicious and I believe it's homemade too! Many times i've gone here just to get an order of mac & cheese only..it's just that good.

Chicken. Chicken. Bomb Rotisserie Chicken. Prefer dark meat over white meat? I usually always order the the 3 piece dark plate which comes with 3 good size pieces of chicken and two sides. Recommendations for sides: their famous mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, corn fritters, green beans, etc. etc. So after you finish the meal, you feel surprised that you got full off only about $7? Go ahead and get that dessert - peach cobbler! Be weary of the blackberry cobbler, it might be overbearingly sweet.

Very affordable rotisserie chicken dinner. Corn fritters were similar to battering and frying a ball of cream of corn - it was good.. The twice baked potatoes are like hash brown casserole at Cracker Barrel.

Delicious !!! The best Mac and cheese, the chicken is awesome and so is the peach cobbler with ice cream. Will be back for sure!

I like it when fast food/restaurants offer good vegetarian options. Cowboy chicken has quite the extensive 'sides' list. My favorites are their sweet potato, butternut squash, campfire veggies, and black beans. And their rolls are super soft, warm, and delicious. The only downside is that it comes with just one. I could probably down about 5 of them. Good place for a quick lunch or dinner.

Service - 2 Star Food - 3 Star Family Style Comfort Food - 4 Stars This place beats the Holy Crapola out of Boston Market (or whatever you call yourself lately). The chicken tastes better, the sides are better, and the name is better than Boston Market. All they have to do is expand their meats a little and they are ready to go head-to-head or mano-o-mano with the Boston Megalith. So they are a little small, 3 locations and one in Allen opening soon, compared to the 530 or so Boston Markets out there. Well so was David, and look what he did to Goliath. Now I'm not going to say Cowboy Chicken couldn't use a little improvement. The sides need a little seasoning in some cases and the chicken is a little greasy to the touch and the rolls were a little bland. Also the demeanor of the guy who delivered the food to our table could have been a little more cheerful. I've seen zombies with more sparkle and joi de vivre. I also couldn't agree with Texas Monthly that their twice-baked potato was all that great. It didn't taste of much of anything to me. More butter improved the taste, but then butter does that to about everything, doesn't it? So sign me up with Scott P., who thinks these guys are superior to Boston Market and KFC. I'm with you, Scott, I'm with you.

Pretty solid place overall. Enjoyed the chicken, but I really loved the sides and the sweet tea. The tea was fresh and had the perfect amount of sweetness. Let me say one thing first- I honestly feel like the twice baked potato is way overrated. I didn't think it was very good at all. Yet it has D-Magazine accolades and everyone's going crazy over it. Now that that's out of the way, I thought the corn fritters and the creamed spinach were fantastic. If you're looking for a quick southern comfort food place for lunch, Cowboy Chicken is your place.

I absolutely love this place! The food is super good and a much healthier way to go then fried chicken. I highly recommend this place.

We love eating here every time we come to Plano. It is fast friendly and fresh. The sides are to die for and the chicken is fun to watch as it spins around the rotisserie.

This is really good. That's all I have to say about that. What? I'd send you to a place that sux?

1st time here, grilled chicken, fries and mac&cheese. Brought out my plate as soon as the fries were done. Fries hot and good, chicken had been nuked and was cold, mac & cheese tasted bad. Tea was really good but meal was not worth $10.50. Probably the only way to get hot fresh cooked is to order 1/2 chicken. One more try. Went back for 2nd try: $8.64 lunch special really good, 1/4 chicken and fries. Best Buy is to add 4 wings to any plate for $1.49. "I'll be back" DAM Good Wings!!!

All-in-all this place isn't bad. I usually quite like it, but there have been a few times where my bread was stale-ish or my potatoes were a little burnt. My go to is the BBQ chicken sandwich with twice baked potatoes. They also have pretty good cobbler in my opinion. It tastes kinda like cake batter though, but I love cake batter so I'm probably not the best judge. I'd give 3.5 stars if I could.

Consistently the worst location I've been to. The people there suck. The managers have a worthless attitude and the employees are spaced out and unprofessional. Food is as bad as the service. Finally sick of wasting money on uneaten food. Never again!!!

I Love Cowboy Chicken! The sides are good, and the price is not bad. The food is hot, fresh, and when we eat here everyone is pleased.

Ok. The 4-stars are for the chicken tortilla soup. The chicken is dry and same old same. But the soup! Ok it's good. $4.32 for a bowl, get it to go and go somewhere nice to enjoy it. I'm a soup lover, so take my word.

Rotisserie chicken is nice ad juicy. It was a little too salty when I went. The double baked mashed potatoes had good flavor but was sticky and not fluffy. Some of the items on the menu such as the tacos where way too over priced.

OMGosh - this chicken, twice baked potatoes, creamed spinach, and peach cobbler are totally awesome...and did I mention that they have "Watermelon Tea" - yes, I said "Watermelon Tea"...don't knock it until you try it - add a little sweetener of your choice, lots of ice and you are in 'Texas Heaven'....this is our new 'go to' for 'good food' fast!!!

The Husband and I were baby free because the grandparents took her out of town. So hubby and I decided to give this place a try as a way to be spontaneous and try something new LOL. We ordered the 3 piece dark and the creamed spinach and twice baked potato. My hub by had the corn puppies and this place was so good. I loved the chicken and how you can see it while they make it. It's a very nice spot. Its better than Boston market cause it not so sticky and chewy. I'm giving it 3 stars because the flies ruined it. I had to move to another table just they would stop buzzing around

ate at the first Cowboy Chicken on NW Highway not long after it opened in the 80s....I don't know why it took me so long to go back! Love the twice-cooked taters and the creamed spinach, and the moist chicky. I give the crispy skin to my GF, she likes it.... Can zone out watching the headless chickens go round and round....excellent nosh, good value $ (1/2 chicken just $1 more than 1/4 chicken, gives you leftovers for next day)...one thing: I wish they did the Sonny Bryan's thing of bringing round more rolls!

I'm in love with this place!! Best chicken, sides and peach cobbler ever! Try the twice baked potatoes and creamed spinach....delish! Also I want to give a shout out to Patrick! I'm not sure if he is the manager or not but he is so nice and helpful!!!

Cowboy Chicken...a great name for a great little barbecue joint! Unsure if this is a chain or not, a friend and I decided to check it out because the prices seemed reasonable. As we stepped out of the car and smelled that delicious smokey barbecue smell that gets your stomach screaming for smoked chicken and ribs, we knew we were at the right place. You walk into a smaller dining area--probably holds 40-50 people I'd say--and you walk right up to the counter to order. No more than five minutes after ordering the barbecue drumstick platter does my food arrive piping hot and looking delicious. Add on my sides of Mac and cheese and green beans and my mouth is watering to the max. Now for the drumsticks: a little too cooked for my taste. When I bite into a drumstick I want that juicy dark meat flavor spilling onto my tongue, and what I got were some flavorful, yet dry pieces of chicken. This may have just been a little too long in the smoker or just a bad day for the grill master, but as the sides, the barbecue sauce, the staff, and the ambience were so fantastic, I'll definitely be back for a second, third, and probably fourth go-round.

The food here is excellent for what it is - chicken and a bunch of different sides. I try to eat health, and Cowboy Chicken has lots of options like green beans, sweet potatoes, beans, etc. The chicken is tender and excellent. Enchiladas are also tasty. Not a fancy place but good food and served fast.

  • Pam L.

The chicken was really good, tender and smoked flavor delicious! Liked the selection of veggies. Service was good, place was small but had right amount of seating. Has some seating outside too. Price was reasonable. If you get there by 5:00 pm the lunch special is still being served. Like the open fire pit that you can watch the large number of chickens being roasted.

Cowboy Chicken has great food and their peach cobbler is addictive like crack. However the last two times I been to this location, the service has been ridiculous. First of all both times been short staffed. This is a busy location and two people working register and two people working the kitchen is not enough. It doesn't help that I have cans of creamed corn in my cabinet older than the kids at the register. Both focused more on phone orders than the line inside that was bigger than a line for a debut of an iPhone. The cute little blonde at the register (there is always one in these situations) try to manage between looking cute in a chicken uniform and trying to figure out how to key in a half chicken and corn fritters. The second time I decided to put use my 9 years of undergrad college and placed an online order at 3pm and pick up at 6pm. My hope was to go in, get my food, and go. Nah. I go there and there is a long line and one kid working the registers and the phones and another kid trying to figure out orders. The manager was hustling and to his credit he looked like he was doing a good job. It would not been so bad if when it came to my turn, they couldn't find my order (for the record, all I ordered was a large mac and cheese and corn fritters), and when they finally figured out I paid online, I had to wait for my order. Than second kid left! I waited for almost 30 minutes (and customers who came in after me who got their food) before I told them to cancel my order and give me a refund. I waited another 5 minutes before the manager came to me with my food, an explanation, and a refund credit. It was a nice gesture and the manager got cool points for his heroics against a big hungry black woman. That is until yesterday my debit card was charged $7.68 from Cowboy Chicken. Sigh.

In one word:Delicious. Cowboy chicken was closed for awhile for remodeling. Stopped by here with the teen girls before heading to the dallas Stars game. I ordered the veggie platter with their cucumber tomato salad, corn fritters, and twice baked potatoes. If you like potatoes get the twice baked as these are their signature side item. They also offered this raspberry tea that was fresh brewed and delicious. Overall cowboy chicken offers great counter customer service and consistently good casual dining food experience.

I frequently this cowboy chicken atleast once or twice a week, but tonight's experience was unlike any other. After approaching the register both workers were on the phone taking orders (which is understandable) but there was two other individuals carrying on a conversation and did not bother speaking and taking my order. After one of the workers got off the phone I almost had to chase him down to take my order, I guess he did not see me standing there in front of him perhaps? I then made it home and had a hard roll I refuse to eat and the twice baked potatoes were kinda crunchy for some reason. Don't get me wrong usually the service here is pretty decent and the quality of the food is awesome, maybe this was a "off" night for them but I think I will spend my money elsewhere for awhile.

OHHHHH. CHIIICKEN. Cowboy chicken is basically a rotisserie chicken place where you can feed your family. Their chicken is excellent, and they have decent sides. This place is a great alternative to those greasy chicken places like KFC, or Chicken express. My husband really likes to get the enchiladas there. This place is a good family dinner place if you have to eat out on a random night.

Their special is worth the money. I always stick with macaroni and their twice baked potatoes - which are, by far my favorite twice baked potatoes anywhere. They have other great entrees too like their sour cream chicken enchilada and tacos. Every time I order to go, they are fast, efficient and have my meal out in 5 minutes flat. I've been to two of their locations and they are like this at both. Definitely good food at a great cost!

Good lunch specials. Luckily its close to my job so I can frequent this place for lunch. It is yummy. I get the 1/4 dark chicken lunch special with veggies and corn. My friend got the potatoes and they didn't look too good (he said they didn't taste that good either). It looked like they took hash browns and then smashed them up. They could do better than that for sure.

So, this review is specific to this location. I love Cowboy Chicken, I think their food is good, but the service here is sort of lacking. First time I went, it took forever to get my food (it wasn't during a busy time either). Second time, they failed to give me one of my side dishes. Yes, my fault for not checking before I left, but hey, their fault for not paying attention to detail. So food is still good, but service makes me give them two stars.

I ate here for the first time tonight... I had a BBQ Chicken Taco....not to shabby at all! I here the enchiladas are very good, may have to try next visit. The tomato - cucumber salad was awesome as well!

Came in to pick up dinner for the family . We got the #3 family meal . The chicken was really good ! And the sides were great too but honestly the side portions were pretty small for the fact that we bought two whole chickens . My biggest complaint is that when we got home we discovered that they didn't give us our 8 rolls , and I wasn't about to drive back just to pick up rolls.

Rotisserie chicken is good here--crispy, flavorful skin, dark meat that melts off the bone. Mac and cheese is okay. Twice baked potato was okay. Chicken enchiladas was very tangy (lime) and salty. Chicken tacos were okay---plenty of white meat with beans/corn/salsa toppings and bbq sauce. Different, but not my fav. Peach cobbler (free mini size at check-in) is mushy..nothing special. Service was good though. Maybe I'll try something else on the menu if I do go here again.

They have really tasty rotisserie chicken that falls of da bone! Normally I would peel off the chicken skin, but not these. And I LURVE their Chicken Enchiladas. That sour cream sauce is the bot-dot-com! Favorite sides: Fried okra, Twiced baked taters, green beans and corn fritters. The Campfire veggies and Tomato and cucumber salad are bleh. Be prepared to smell like smoke when you leave.

This location is awesome! I called this morning to see if I could have some sides delivered for my wife's place of work. The gentleman I spoke to was willing to have it ready and deliver it to her on time. I have always been able to depend on these guys and company for any events.
