Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I have only been here for breakfast and I like it! They have a good selection. Burritos, tacos, pancakes, and good breakfast platters. It is really affordable which makes it easy to stop by frequently. The staff is really friendly. They all get along so well with one another and with their customers, especially their regulars. Oh, and you know how sometimes at other places you end up with a waiter or waitress who cant quite get it together and check on you frequently? Not here. They all help each other. Different ladies will come and refill your drink and just check up on you. I love that! The environment just makes you feel right at home. For those of you who like to jam out while eating, they have a jukebox for you! All in all, I would recommend this place for breakfast. Ill check out their lunch/dinner and let you all know my opinion.

First visit today with my wife for lunch. I had two tacos, one barbacoa and one chicken fajita. My wife had a plain cheese quesedilla. Arguably the best barbacoa I've ever had. Tender, great flavor, topped with chopped white onion and cilantro. Horchata was fantastic as well. 4-stars for the food, 5-stars for the price. So hard to find a cheap lunch anymore! Great taqueria staples, perfectly executed. Will definitely be returning!

They have gone from pretty good to don't waste your money. We have been coming here for over 5 years. It was one of our fav Taqueria's. Tonight, we left hungry and will never return. 2 of our 3 simple dinner orders were set in front of us wrong. We were able to see the dinner ticket and the waitress did write it down correctly. So the being prepared wrong food rests more on the kitchen but the waitress should have noticed. When they delivered the food and we pointed out the error they took one of the plates and disappeared. Mine was still wrong and sitting in front of me. It's something I wouldn't order or much less eat. So I waited for someone to resurface... I mean surely they would refill our drinks, chips, check on us right? Nope. After 15 minutes we walk up to the register. She rang up all the meals. I said nope. Let's try that again. She then said, "why did you eat your food and now complain?" Uh oh. OH NO SHE DIDN'T. So I walked back to the table grabbed my plate and set it on the counter. "I didn't and no one ever came back to the table - you were all hiding in the kitchen until those people entered." So we had a stand-off and finally paid $17 for 3 teas and 1 dinner so we just get out of there to go eat somewhere else.

Love this place. Food is always great and the service is great! I have tried a few different items. Enchiladas are awesome as well as regular tacos (beef) Check this place out and don't be quick to judge by the looks of the place.
(5)Rosa C.
My husband and I always enjoy our food at Guadalajara. We have tried everything from quesadillas to burritos and tacos. Their fresh waters are great I love the horchata. The staff is always friendly and have always been helpful and quick with our orders. Its delish!

Breakfast review: They have a sister store on N. Lamar. I like this joint better. This review is for the breakfast only. They have the same good deals as their sister store. Get there between 0600 - 1100 and you can eat cheap. 4 - 6 $ plate deals and taco deals. The breakfast food is good and the service is usually pretty good. If they get crowded, well, you know. My favorite breakfast plates here are the Huevos a la Mexicana (sometimes con queso['coz I'm all about that white cheese]) and the Huevos Rancheros. Sometimes the Huevos a la Mexicana comes out with way too much jalapenos, which is a disappointment. I guess it depends on whose cooking? I have tried the Migas here and I didn't really care for it. It was more like tortilla strips and white cheese. MEH. The staff are friendly and the place is really clean. It is small and can fill up quickly. If you are looking for a good cheap breakfast non-American style, give this place a try. I am a bacon freak and every time I order a side of bacon here they bring me like nine pieces!! Check my picks!! And it's cheaper than the American joints!
(4)Dane S.
My newest favorite spot for authentic Mexican food. They are consistently good regardless of what I order. Lots of seating but they can max out especially on Sunday. They are worth the wait if you have to wait 20 minutes though. Try the different salsas the bring to the table in squirt bottles. I especially like the 2 green ones.
(5)Jeremy A.
Always good quality and tasty food. Never disappointed. If you wand Mexican food fast and affordable come and eat here.
(5)Joel M.
I normally go for the breakfast. The price is great the food is good for the price. I wouldn't recommend the queso it always is watery. However, the migas is tasty, the charro beans are delicious (spell check doesn't understand Spanish) and the staff is always super quick and works together to get the orders out. For the price it's a win
(5)A T.
I have tried this place several times hoping one day they will exceed my expectations, but they have been consistently bland. The meats never have flavor and are of a low grade quality. I'm really speechless as far as describing the quality of food. Arturo's Border Cafe, down the road, in comparison is much more satisfying. Unfortunately this place is consistently closed every time I'm want to eat a taco or burrito.
(1)Tabitha B.
Good food at an even better price. Wait was long, but it was a Sunday. Will definitely try them out again in the future.
(4)Leo R.
Decent Mexican, but nothing to write home about. It reminds me of so many cookie-cutter restaurants back home, in McAllen, TX. Similar tastes and flavors, but nothing truly distinctive or remarkable. That said, I'd much prefer here than some of your more "Gringo" chains delivering wanna-be Mexican food experiences. Quick, friendly service. Clean dining. Nice-sized breakfast tacos.
(4)Robert P.
Great place for breakfast! Eat there almost every weekend. Prices are right, and food tastes great.
(5)Brittany L.
Absolutely disgusting. Like, it's been a long time since I've found bad food in Austin and boom here it is. A place that's been around forever it seems and its just awful. My "burrito" consisted of a cat food like substance in the middle with soggy lettuce. My boyfriend ordered the "supreme enchilada", tell me how ground beef wrapped in a raw corn tortilla with some nasty ass cheese on top is considered supreme. There was literally nothing else on them. I CAN MAKE THAT FOR HIM AT HOME. this place just looks like it's struggling... Do me a favor and shut your doors before someone gets sick.
(1)Ruth C.
This place was near my hotel, so I decided to check it out. We were greeted as soon as we stepped through the door (but the place was pretty empty). The waitress spoke to us in English first but then switched over to Spanish when she realized we too were bilingual. My sister and I both enjoyed our food, although my sister found hers super spicy (her meat was a-la-mexicana). The portions were huge, they had several sides, and different choices of tortillas and aguas frescas. The food tasted like homemade Mexican food, as opposed to Mexican restaurant food. I like both types, so I was pleased. As long as it's legit and not imitation, I'll almost always be a happy customer. My meat was a little on the salty side, but I still liked it and ate past the point of feeling full. I'd go back, but I'd probably try something new. Their menu was extensive and I wanted to order several things. Oh, and they had Mexican novelas on tv. Such a plus!
(4)Shannon J.
The breakfast tacos here are excellent. This is my must have on the weekends.
(5)Quincy G.
Inexpensive ! Good breakfast ! I love their salsa. The people are always so nice and friendly . I would recommend them .
(5)Sumeet B.
Best mexican restaurant in the cedar park area. Seemed like a random hole in the wall I used to always drive past. I checked it out after my friend recommended it. I haven't tried their breakfast. I always order the crispy taco plate. Great food, great service, great art on the walls, univision on TV to set the mood... what else do you need. p.s. Try the green paste sauce in the plastic bottle if you want some extra spice, tastes great.
(5)Bethany C.
We moved here from San Antonio last year. This place reminds me a lot of the taquerias around there. A pretty standard no-frills Tex-Mex place. Don't expect great service but the food is good and CHEAP!
(3)Shannon S.
Cheap, GOOD food!! Service isn't all that friendly, but not rude. Will stop in when ever I am in the area.
(4)Alan H.
This is weekday Taquerias should be. Barely speak English but good enough. Excellent food. Cheap prices. Soccer on tv and excellent Al pastor.
(5)Scott M.
Great breakfast tacos at an incredibly affordable price. I think they are the best tacos in this part of town.
(5)Suzanne P.
UGH. We went here this morning to grab a few quick breakfast tacos. It was an easy order, but the waitress didn't seem to understand English very well. I figured at least the tortillas will be homemade, so I asked her about that. She told me they were NOT homemade! I mean, really? This is supposed to be a REAL Mexican place. Even Chuy's makes their flour tortillas from scratch. Anyway, we watched everyone around us get their food as the time crawled by. Even people who came in and ordered after us were getting their food. While we were waiting, my guy went to the bathroom. He said it was filthy! The toilet was overflowing with something. (I will spare you the details.) I asked several times for someone to check on our food. The girl pouring coffee said she would check, but another waitress just completely ignored me. Eventually, a girl brought what we THOUGHT was our order. I was fuming, by this point, since we were starving and had been waiting about 40 minutes for TWO breakfast tacos. Guess what. The tacos didn't have any of the items we ordered on them except eggs. That was it! We asked how much we owed for the coffee and promptly exited the dirty diner. I do NOT recommend this place.
(1)Molly B.
Best breakfast tacos up north. Really the only good spot if you want tacos on this side of town. Staff is always way nice. Sometimes they don't know what you're saying but pointing works well. It's cheap and good and better than most places.
(5)Marina K.
Still on the search for that good Mexican restaurant. Chips and salsa were good but you can't really mess that up right? Been here a few times hoping I would pick the right dish. Rice always looks as if it was a few days old. On our last visit the beef tacos were just blah. This place is pretty bad!
(1)RayRay S.
Honestly this is my favorite breakfast place in Austin. I live in Cedar Park and it's super close. The food is so inexpensive and it's always amazing. Doesn't matter if you're nursing a hangover or taking your kiddos out for breakfast tacos it always hits the spot. The ladies that work there have been there for years and they always take care of us. My son is allergic to peanuts, wheat and soy and I never worry that they will mess up our order. Fresh homemade tortillas, bacon thick and fried just right, the cheese is that awesome Mexican cheese that's rich and creamy. I have breakfast here at least 3 times a week and I'm always happy when I leave. If I'm out of town. I'm sitting here the morning after I get back.
(5)Paul D.
I love this place. What is not to like? The food is amazing, authentic, the prices are cheap, and the service staff is very friendly. The whole menu is in spanish, but I don't care, that's when you know it's good!
(5)Jason R.
Breakfast is really good. Last time I got the Texas breakfast special. The meal was served with eggs, bacon, beans, potatoes, and pancakes. Service was good and the price was even better. Cheap cheap cheap. Mexican coke in the can was nice and cold. I will be back for sure.
(5)Lauren A.
If it was possible to give zero stars, I would. They can't speak english and they steal your money. Avoid this place!!! I will be filing with BBB tomorrow as soon as they open!!!
(1)Krystal S.
The breakfast food is FANTASTIC and very inexpensive, especially the chorizo tacos. The lunch/dinner options however are terrible. I got something with Shrimp and it was very chewy and had no flavor, my kiddos got their favorite foods and neither of them liked their food either, they both complained that it was chewy as well. The server we had wasn't very friendly either.
(2)Ryan B.
I would not recommend visiting here if you are looking for good Mexican food. The staff is nice enough, but many of them dont seem very interested in running a successful business and it shows in the food. Most of it is rather bland. This is close to our house and my wife is actually from Guadalajara, but the tasteless dishes will be keeping us away. So sad.
(2)Aaron B.
The service is always great. The staff is very friendly and is always checking to make sure everything is good. The breakfast is definitely better than the lunch or dinner but I've never been disappointed either way. The salsa is fresh but the chips could be better. The price is very reasonable. I love the Mexican style eggs, it would be better if it came with bacon but I sometimes order it on the side.
(5)Justin P.
My go to for tripas tacos when I am in Austin. The mexican food is good and the staff is always friendly.
(3)Andy Irene D.
I've had my fair share of Mexican food, authentic and tex-mex. The food at Taqueria Guadalajara was ok. Personally it was a little plain and the ranchero sauce was very runny. The chips taste store bought and the sauces were bland as well. But for the price you get a lot of food.
(3)John B.
Outstanding tacos - my favorite is the chorizo potato egg and cheese on a corn tortilla (rather than the flour). The salsa is fresh and a nice (but not too strong) of a kick. Service is fast friendly and with a smile.
(5)Jordan S.
Been going here for over 6 years, and still love it. I give 5 stars for the price (extremely affordable), friendly and hard working wait staff, and over all quality experience that always leaves you full and happy. Their breakfast is the bomb, go before 11am for half off!
(5)J. A.
Pretty good food and cheap prices. Menu is a little tricky to understand since Spanish is first and English second. It threw me off a bit since I'm a Yankee but it's not a real issue. Portions are large and the salsa was really, really good! I'll eat here again for sure!
(3)Lindsay L.
Pretty good breakfast tacos and for such a value, too! The chorizo, potato, egg, and cheese ones are my favorite. :) Will try the other food soon
(4)Fareed T.
I love this place. Not the best food ever, but a great value. Awesome guacamole.
(4)desirae t.
There's nothing very special about this place, it really is just your typical hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant. But it is so so cheap! And so so good!! We almost never miss our Sunday breakfast here. The waitresses are so nice and as fast as they can be. The food is quick to come out. I also wanted to publicly laugh at the person that thought they got "soggy looking green beans" on their carne asada.. really? If you've ever had good Mexican food, then you would know that those are nopalitos... CACTUS.. geez.
(5)Charly S.
Great breakfast taco deal. Authentic and fresh! Eat here and you will be pleased. I like the chorizo, bean and cheese taco with lots of cilantro. Wait staff is friendly and casual.
(4)Carrie S.
i can't give a review on the food because...we NEVER received it!! We ordered simple breakfast tacos, nothing extravagant. After an hour of watching our waitress disappear for extended periods of time and seeing other waitresses bringing out huge meals for other lucky patrons we finally walked out. All we received was water and salsa...no chips like all the other patrons received. Ridiculously neglectful service and a big waste of my time! We ended up going across the street to Taco Shack and getting our breakfast tacos literally within minutes!
(1)alan C.
I regularly get the gorditas with a variety of fillings. It's true that they are not very strongly flavored, however they give you a good selection of salsas and limes and other add-ins so that you can make them taste just the way you like them. Last time I got the steak ranchero. It isn't a steak per say, it's roughly cut up beef from what appears to be a milenesa round. The tomato and chile marinade was tasty on it's own, but as with other dishes you add a dollop of sour creme, some chopped salad greens, lime juice, and of course salsa. You can get bottles of Cholula or Habrenaro to add other flavors. You wind up with a taco the way you want it and not just the chef's favorite food. You can afford to have a drink with your meal.
(4)Anna M.
Cheap, good, and nice staff. I've been here many times for breakfast and other than it being really busy and only one restroom I have no complaints!
(4)Hank C.
This is a hard review to write. Their food is exceptional and the servers are working hard every time I am in. The issue I have, every time we come here our food comes out at different times. It seems like there is a lot of confusion in the back. One person will be done eating and another person at our table has not received their food yet? Then, another person is served the wrong plate, so on and so forth.. This has happened multiple times we have been in, around 10 or so.
(3)Ty O.
It's Mex-Mex rather than Tex-Mex so if you're expecting Pappasitos you might be disappointed. So I feel that it should be judged in comparison to other "Taquerias". The food is very good. The prices are extraordinarily inexpensive, the portions are more than ample, and the service is fast. Its definitely not glamorous but it is an enjoyable experience. I like to grab breakfast tacos here occasionally on the weekends with my 4 year old. The wife doesn't care for this place so much so it has become our father-daughter place. We both share chorizo, bean, and cheese tacos and love it. We prefer them with corn tortillas. The chorizo is greasy and spicy and goes great with the monterrey jack cheese. The creamy refried beans bind the whole assembly together nicely. If your open to a "no egg" breakfast taco, I highly recommend it. I've also had the occasional lunch here with coworkers. They serve a solid dipping queso. The tacos and gorditas are all very good. The enchiladas are meh. My favorite lunch is the combination plate where you select two meat entrees which are served with rice, beans, salad, and avocado. My favorite meats include the Al Pastor, beef fajita, and chicken fajita. The combination lunch is in the $6 range as I recall. Guadalajara is my favorite restaurant in the "Taqueria" class in Austin. My rule of thumb is to award 4 stars to anything that is "best in class" (5th star if they are outstanding beyond their class). Therefore, Taqueria Guadalajara gets 4 stars despite the lackluster ambiance. Until I find something better anyway.
(4)Frances R.
This place has the worst Mexican food. I had the eggs....they were overcooked - My Mexican food peeve are when they serve processed already made tortillas....Unacceptable. I would never eat here again.
(1)NunYa B.
Chips and Salsa - ok, nothing spectacular. Horchata - severely diluted. Quesadilla - grossly dripping in grease. No bueno. Gordita - meh, I've had better. Could have done without the side of plastic film INSIDE the gordita. Service - nonexistent.
(1)Katie M.
Nothing fancy. Cheap, quick and good. For breakfast tacos this place really can't be beat...unless you go to south Austin.
(3)Ricardo G.
Very crowded in the morning. Food is good and the staff is very friendly. I like it for a quick breakfast or just to pickup something to eat.
(3)Brandon T.
We've been coming here for years and haven't had a bad experience. It's the perfect hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant. The breakfast is always delicious served very prompt and the Carne Asada for lunch or dinner is my choice every time. The salsas are really good too.
(5)Mike B.
This place is pretty legit. The food is prepared in a way that is more homestyle than restaurant style. Kind of hard to describe, but its a slightly different kind of tasty. The price is right and the portions are good. I had the enchiladas verdes with chicken and barbacoa tacos. Both were prett awesome. The salsas are good and that green stuff in the bottle is pretty baller. The chips are light and fluffy but strong enough to hold your dips.
(4)Theda S.
One thing I've learned since moving to Austin, you can't judge a restaurant by it's location. Some of the best food I've had here is in run down strip malls. If my New York friends could see me now, they would be shaking their heads in displeasure. Guadalajara is fast, friendly and their ohh so good green chili chicken enchiladas to wet your appetite and satisfy Tex-mex cravings when you are hung over.
(3)Brian D.
Very good, cheap Mexican. Good service, good food (we had the migas, which were tasty), and good service. We'll be back for sure... it's a great breakfast spot. And 2 meals, coffees, and an order of good guacamole came to $13!
(4)J N.
They mess up even simple orders and forget about getting a refund. With a tear in their eyes, they'll tell you how management will make them pay for it out of their own pockets. As for the food, its very mediocre. The chicken fajitas are dry and the tortillas are hard. The salsa was the only thing worth writing home about.
(2)Irene P.
Not the most glamorous of locations but if you're in the mood for a quick bite of pretty authentically Mexican, not TEXICAN food, this a good spot! Easy on the Wallet, (Taco's are $1.59, Burritos are $2.99, Guacamole is $2.49) Guadalajara is better than the other little taco stands we've tried in the area. The place is usually pretty easy to get into and get service quick except for breakfast time on the weekends when they're packed! While they do offer tacos to go, I personally prefer to eat there to take advantage of their chips and amazing home made salsas! Sure, they have your standard red and green fare, but they also have salsa #3... A creative variation on the green tomato salsa with avocado and salt... different and delicious!
(4)Scott C.
Maybe it was a bad day here ??? This place was not good , period. The food was bland as could be. I honestly think the beef filling might have been friskies canned cat food with the flavor removed. Pinkish colored flavorless beef , weirdest stuff I have ever seen. Never again
(1)Gregory S.
This was our first visit and we were very impressed we first heard about this place through a catering deal on Breakfast Tacos at the church when we found out where they came from we went there for Breakfast today and it is a great deal!. you can get 3 Tacos for only 2.49 0.20 cents per taco for additional ingredients like cheese they also have a 2 egg plate with your choice of meat beans and potatoes for only 2.99 yes 2.99 and a Texas Breakfast with scrambled eggs and bacon with pancakes and beans and potato for 4.50 it is a great deal! Defenintly go and check it out you will not be sorry!
(5)Marlyn D.
I went there on Sunday looking forward to a decent juevos rancheros meal. My guy ordered the "pozole" or what they called the soup they brought out. It was watery and contained a lot of fat. My juevos rancheros was mediocre at best- and I've had my fair share of this yummy plate at several other restaurants. Servers were nice, but actual service was sub par. I have it 2 stars for nice workers. I will not be going back.
(2)Gisella F.
you get great food for a great price I especially love their menudo and quesadillas and their breakfast tacos are good and fairly priced.
(4)John P.
Good food nice prices
(5)Space M.
There's nothing over-stated about this place. No fancy linens, no high-end art on the wall, no reservation list or for that matter a wine list. This is as basic as it gets. Bright yellow walls, random mismatched decor and hand written signs letting you know Tripe tacos are now available. Solid, consistent and predictable tex-mex and tacos. I've been here more times than I care to admit. Breakfast, especially, is beyond cheap but oh so filling and tasty. Friday, we decided to hit the new Vivos on 620 but they were closed until 4 (WTF). So we popped across the street over to what used to be a 7-11, now Taqueria Guadalajara (damn that was hard to type). The salsa that they put on the table (a semi-runny tomato based salsa and also a slightly spicy green salsa) were both fantastic. I had the crispy tacos, which were good and overflowing with a shredded white cheese I think may have been Monterey Jack. Husband had the Cuban Torta which he loved and also a Chalupa (not sure what they called it on the menu). All items came to $11.00. Sorry Vivo. We were prepared for your high prices and wanted to check out your new setup, but you forced us to return to our old standby. Thanks for that ;)
(3)Danielle B.
My family has been eating here for years. Love their breakfast tacos! We ate there recently for breakfast and they were in the midst of construction inside as we are eating our food!! Ugh...my husband was very disgusted and got up to pay our bill; but as he did the site manager overseeing the construction felt really bad and offered to pay our bill. He did a great job trying to save this not great breakfast experience. We will visit again and again, just making sure not during construction/remodel.
(4)Robert A.
Cheap, fast, ok food. Friendly service. Very basic. Open everyday from 6am-11pm. Did I mention CHEAP? Good food for the price.
(4)Rachel N.
Really enjoy the food here. The prices are great, and the food is authentic. Great salsa and chile con queso. It's always a good sign when the menu is in Spanish first. The ground beef tacos are excellent, and my kids love the breakfast tacos. The tacos al pastor are also delicious. The staff is excellent and timely.
(4)Stacey H.
I prefer the breakfast tacos from here. I love the cheese and their green sauce is muy delicioso! I have had lunches/dinners before and the last few times were at home so I will consider the reviews for those only tainted by the fact that they were taken to go and might have suffered quality degradationon the way home. Breakfast, however, regardless of transport situation, has always been consistently good. Bacon, egg, cheese with the salsa verde or the chorrizo egg are both delicious.
(4)Indria S.
Since we've been here this is the first "authentic" Mexican place we've eaten at. Compared to what we're used to (San Diego Mexican food...yummy) This place was a joke. My bf thought it was ok, he got a carne asada burrito. Instead of the carne asada being chopped up and already inside the burrito, it was just the whole piece of meat, on the plate, with the tortillas on the side and also some soggy looking green beans, not sure what that had to do with anythig, I think they just threw it in for good measure. I got 2 tacos...they were DISGUSTING. The meat tasted old and completely watered down, no flavor at all and water was dripping out of the tacos, which at one point fell apart in the middle because they were so wet and the rice and beans that came with it tasted like and smelled like nasty. A woman came in that had called her order in about 20 min prior to showing up and she had to wait an additional 25 min to get it, she only had 2 small things. I will NEVER eat here again. Oh yeah, and the bathroom was dirty. I mean dirty, dirty and the toilet didn't work.
(1)Joe S.
Great price. $5.75 for 3 enchiladas, rice, and beans. Good quantity. Won't leave you stuffed or hungry. Tasted good, but not blow-you-away good. Found 2 pieces of something unedible in the chicken enchiladas. Maybe chicken cartilage or bone fragment. A little disruptive, but no big deal.
(3)Mary H.
Very good and within walking distance from my work. It's great because they are quick and the food is awesome.
(5)Tony G.
First I must ask "Why are they listed twice here"? I also find it odd the Lamar location is getting mostly excellent reviews while the 620 location is not. Hmmmm. Anywhoooo I thoroughly enjoy my weekly visits to this location. The steak fajita tacos are the $#@&. I get 'em with the onions and cilantro, sometimes I add some white cheese (or queso blanco). The chips and salsa are great. The prices are very reseanable, so I hope all of the Yhiners (Yelp whiners) rush into the nearest Taco Hell store next time they need a taco fix. The staff is very attentive and the place seems clean enough for me. On a recent visit I reckon' they were grillin' up some fish---so they had the door propped open so it wouldn't smell like a Ho House. ( I had to add that to justify the 4 instead of 5 star rating! lol) Hey, at least they were trying to get the smell to go away ! I will be back, and often.

Cheap, kick-ass food. What more could you ask for? I can get my fill for six bucks or less. This is one of the best restaurants you'll find in CP. However, if you want a margarita, go somewhere else unless you like neon green mix with no discernable trace of tequila. The pork tacos, shrimp tacos, carne asada, tostadas, enchiladas, and probably everything else on the menu are excellent. Breakfast is great, too.

This is the kind of hole in the wall place that is beloved by folks in the neighborhood who swear by the amazing prices, great tasting food, and lack of pretense. It is a place we swear by. Weekend am is crowded due to the very affordable three breakfast taco deal. The only thing I would improve is their use of cans of soda instead of fountain drinks with free refills. Love the chips and salsa you always get free.

I went to Gaudalajara with a couple other friends from Concordia because the my room mate for the summer really wanted shrimp tacos. I knew I should have known better since we are 4+ hours from any body of water that has shrimp in it but I went along. I ended up ordering a shrimp taco, a beef taco, and a chicken taco. I was not impressed with any of them. There was just no flavor to them. That combined with the fact that the shrimp were cocktail shrimp (you know the really minuscule ones they put in like salad) which in my book is not really shrimp at all. I will say that one of the guys got their nachos and they looked delicious but I'm not really sure because he didn't finish them. I'm sure that Guadalajara might have a dish or two that they excel at making but I didn't find it when I was there and sadly I don't think I will be going back.

I actually like Guadalajara. They have interior mexican food, unlike the tex-mex usually found around Austin (I'm from AZ). I enjoy anything with shredded beef, and usually order the barbacoa tacos with onions and cilantro on soft corn tortillas. The place has expanded in the last few years, and has a loyal following. Resonably priced. Breakfast tacos are a great take-out in the morning on the way to work. Call ahead and they are ready to pick up when you arrive.

I go there at least every other week. It's cheap & the chips and salsa are decent. The food comes out quick. They have generous food portions. My favorites are the nachos and the gorditas.

Had dinner with friends the other night. I had 3 crispy beef tacos... the meat was flavorful but greasy, the shells freshly made (not from a box) but they overdo the lettuce and skimp on cheese and tomatoes. The chips and salsa are yummy. Husband had carne guisada-- very tender, but bland. Ambience is what you would expect of a taqueria-- bright, loud, tacky. Service was slow. Too expensive for what we got.

Perfect breakfast tacos made to order fast.

Prices are good, food is good enough. Nice option for the area.

Guadalajara is good a taqueria. Food is solid and the staff is pleasant. Will find more Mexican's and Americans in here (a good thing for a Mexican restaurant). Their food is Jalisco style so a little less spicy than Tex-mex. It is nothing like the junk in California so in other words, good food. Have tried about 10 dishes my favorites - Migas Taco a pastor Gordita The staff is nice, good service. Prices are very reasonable. Not an upscale type place, very casual.

My friends and I go to Taqueria Guadalajara about once a month. It is a casual, relaxed place. I'd define their food as more "traditional" Mexican food as opposed to TexMex or California Mex. So if your sole definition of Mexican food is served at the likes of Fonda San Miguel or Manuel's (both of which I like also), your visit to Guadalajara is doomed from the start. I've had a few times when service has moved at a crawl, but overall service is prompt and friendly. We are always there earlier in the day... like late breakfast, early lunch, and I tend to stick with my favorite food items there... so I can't actually critique much variety, although they do have a a lot of choices here that you won't find at un restaurante de TexMex. Chips have always been fresh and crispy, and the salsa is fresh with just enough zing to be interesting but not chokingly hot. The salsa often has fresh cilantro in it, which is a plus for me. For breakfast, coffee is good and refilled generously and I love their migas. Remember, this is not fussy food, so you'll get a basic plate of eggs nicely mixed with tortilla strips, onion, diced chili peppers, tomatoes and queso blanco. The migas come with potatoes, refried beans and extra corn tortillas. Add lots of salsa to your potatoes, scoop the beans up with a rolled flour tortilla, and you've got breakfast perfection! I also really enjoy Guadalajara's gorditas. Usually I get chicken or picadillo gorditas and the meat comes tucked between two nice fat gorditas with lettuce, sliced tomato and sour cream. As far as staff and many diners go, this is very much an "English as a second language" place, which I consider a good sign when I have a taste for more traditional Mexican food. Will you be wowed here by hovering waitpeople, complicated food and palatial restrooms? No, non, nada, zip. But that's not why you go to Taqueria Guadalajara.

I love this place. What a deal. Awesome prices and fantastic food. I always get the huevos con chorizo for breakfast. My wife gets the migas. It's one of our favorite Sunday spots!

Holy cow. I was driving by this place, and thought I would give it a try since I like Mex street food. I think it may have been the worst that I ever had. I thought east coast mexican food was terrible, but it is much better than the food served at this place. I ordered a lot of food, so I was able to sample it. Some of the food, like the picadillo tacos, wasn't fully cooked. It seemed like they added a bunch of sugar to the salsas, so that was nasty. The carne guisada was simply boiled meat with no seasoning. Don't eat here under any circumstance.
