I was in town from LA for a family visit with mom and pops, sister and brother. My other brother flew in from India as well. Early Sunday morning and we were sniffing around for a good country breakfast (read biscuits and gravy, definitely a must on the menu) when my sweet friend way out in West Knoxville said we really should drive out Chapman Hwy toward Seymour to Connie's. Great prices and big plates, she promised. We were not disappointed. We each attempted to order a Hobo, (it was so cheap, why not?) but the server said we shouldn't do that. She said to split it. Reluctantly, we decided to share one plate of food. I would love to see the faces on people like us when that Hobo is placed in front of them. There were people laughing at our expressions! And, it was delicious. Eggs, peppers, cheese, sausage, bacon on top of a gigantic pile of hash browns. We ate. We ate lots and then, guess what? We sheepishly admitted the server was right and when we did, she brought us a 'to-go' container. When I returned to my sister's house in South Knoxville she laughed and confessed it's her favorite place to take the family of five for breakfast. If you're lucky, the thrift store will be open next door. Don't expect fancy. Do expect a lot of good country food, a lot of local color and a great start to the day.

Ate here twice during our stay to Tennessee. The corned beef hash was good. A good portion for the price. The service was slightly below average. Better than chain breakfast places, but overall 3 stars for average.

Connie's Kitchen is a "hole in a wall" establishment in Seymour, Tn. This is our second time here after being so impressed our first time. From a pancake the size of a large pizza to gigantic boritos to chicken fried steak. Downtown hospitality, great service and awesome food. This is a "must try" kind of place.

Wanted to stop at s local restaurant for breakfast and saw they had good reviews on Yelp. Food was very good, down home cooking. Staff was friendly and service was exceptional. Their home made pies looked wonderful. Would definitely stop again.

Visited Connie's for my sons birthday breakfast. Being from MI I needed some great gravy. I had the biscuit supreme too and it did not disappoint. My son had the hearty breakfast and couldn't finish. He raved about the pancake!

One word-awesome. This was our first visit. I don't know how many more visits it will take to try all the things I want. Mom had the biscuit sandwich and a side of corned beef hash. She said it was the best biscuit she ever had. I had the enchilada plate. One cheese and one beef topped with green chili and rice and beans. The beef was so finely ground and moist. The green chili was not as spicy as I expected but it had a really good flavor. We had pie for dessert. Mom had peanut butter chiffon which was so creamy. I had coconut cream which was the pie perfection I have been looking for on trips nationwide. Imagine I found it not 20 minutes from home! The crust is perfect as is the filling. Not sickeningly thick like some places ruin it by doing. And topped with meringue as any cream pie should be and not that gross topping that disappoints me so many places. When we went to pay we saw the cinnamon rolls in the case. I have never seen huger. You must see to believe! I can not wait to go back and try many more items on the sizable menu. It may turn into our new Sunday habit.

To put it simply, they know breakfast. The second time I've ever been to Knoxville, I came across a link ( wbir.com/video/default.a… ) to a video from a local news station that reported on this cozy eatery in Seymour. They describe how fresh the food is that they prepare everyday until the reporter abruptly changes the topic of the conversation. It was when he noticed a pancake of no ordinary measure. If you order a "super short" from Connie's Kitchen, you will get a pancake that takes TWO SPATULAS to flip. It weighs somewhere between 3 and 4 pounds, and one person has successfully eaten a stack of three after months of training. Here's your warning: this pancake is at least twice the thickness of a regular pancake. But giant pancakes are not what makes Connie's Kitchen the place to go for breakfast. Their omelets are fluffy and delectable. The french toast brings back memories of when you helped mom or dad make them on a Sunday morning after watching cartoons. Their regular pancakes are comparable to Pancake Pantry in Gatlinburg. And the pièce de résistance of Connie's Kitchen has to be the Hobo. It's hash browns put on a pedestal of awesomeness. Green peppers, onions, mushrooms, diced ham add to the flavor of the wonderfully cooked and seasoned hash browns. If that's not enough, how about a strip of bacon, an egg, and your choice of gravy/chile on top. Given that Connie spent a considerable amount of time in Colorado, you should go for the green chile on top. This dish makes your morning so good that nothing could possibly ruin your day. In summary, this is the breakfast place to go if you're in/near Seymour. If you're coming in from out of town, then make the drive down Chapman highway. Like Alton Brown says, "your patience will be rewarded."

Visited my parents in TN and went to Connie's Kitchen for breakfast and it was great. Not much to look at but clean and neat and that is all I ask. They are open from 8am(?) until 2pm and you better get there early because they fill up fast. The food was really good. Portions are big and and pretty cheap. I got 2 eggs, a large portion of hash browns, biscuit and a country fried steak with gravy for 6.95. I will give anyplace that serves a good country fried steak 5 stars and this place does just that. Everything is freshly cooked and you can tell. The wait staff was awesome, hustled their butts off and didn't let our coffee even come close to getting cold. Although I didn't get a chance to try them they make their own pies and they looked awesome. This is another one of those places that doesn't need to rely on a fancy setting to get people in the door because the food is that good. I will go back on my next visit. Keep up the great work Connie's Kitchen.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
