Since this is a BBQ restaurant I must rate it on the Q but the neon fries are delicious and a must. This is more of a competition BBQ with no smoke flavor. Very over priced. Great wait staff, which is why it gets 2 stars.

Blech. The ribs ($17.99) are fatty and tasteless and full of gristle. The neon fries were limp and also tasteless. We went to The Hickory Pitt because of the reviews, but it was a real letdown.

The interior and exterior was typical of a BBQ joint that has tried to add on over time. It was clean. When we arrived it was very busy and we waited about 10 minutes. The other customers seemed to see the rush and didn't linger at their tables like they normally would've. In that respect the customers seemed to be working together for mutual benefit. Because we sensed the rush we didn't mind that the waitress took our order within a minute of sitting down. Everyone was in a hurry and and hungry worked together to make lunch happen. Everyone in my group ordered the meat and three for only $5.50. Not one single complaint!!! Yum!!! I table watched what other people ordered and it looked equally yummy. I'd like to drive the hour to savannah again just to eat here and try those fries!!!

Stopped in last Saturday night with my wife while passing through on a road trip. It was almost completely packed with customers, so I expected to be in for some really good BBQ. The building inside and out is what you expect from a roadside BBQ joint. I had the pulled pork plate with slaw, beans, and deviled egg. My wife had chicken with the same sides. The side items were very small portions and the flavor was just not there. The deviled egg was extra and the same can be said for it, just not that much flavor. The pork and the chicken were good, I have to admit that I have had better and a whole lot worse. We were brought two kinds of sauce for the BBQ. There was a hot sauce, which was not hot at all for BBQ sauce, and a sweet sauce that tasted like honey and sugar glaze. The wait staff was by far the best part of the experience. They were attentive and very nice.

I've been to many BBQ joints around the country and this one by far is one of my favs. The BBQ pork sandwich is soooo good, I'm addicted!

On a business trip to Savannah, TN. Coworkers had been craving BBQ so we stopped here for lunch. Just a run of the mill BBQ place in a small town. Nothing special. The place looks kind of like it's falling apart but it was packed. We barely sat down before we were asked if we were ready to order 3 times by 3 different waitresses... Seemed a little rushed. The staff was very friendly but we had to sit right in front of the door when it was 30 degrees outside so every time someone went in and out our foods temperature significantly lowered. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich plate, one coworker ordered pulled pork sandwich, and the other coworker ordered chicken strips. We all had seasoned fries and beans. Meat was tender but under seasoned. Beans were sub-par and fries although fresh off the grease you could tell had been previously frozen. If you're dying for food to get you through it doesn't hurt to stop but don't expect much.

We stopped in at The Hickory Pit for dinner while in Savannah a while back because it was recommended as one of the best BBQ places in the area.. If this is the best Tennessee has to offer for BBQ I need to open a restaurant down there. I love ribs. I cook them all the time at home. Juicy, tender, fall off the bone, tasty ribs. These weren't those. I have no issue with a dry rub BBQ, but the rub needs flavor. Lots of flavor. Not much there. They did have sauce in a squeeze bottle that you could use. And since the ribs were terribly dry I thought I'd give it a try. The first was a sweet BBQ sauce. All I could taste was honey and sugar. It was more like a sweet sauce for sweet and sour than a BBQ sauce. So then I tried the hot sauce. Hot sauce should be hot. And have flavor. This was sort of hot, but had almost no flavor worth commenting on. This left me mixing the two sauces trying to come up with something that I liked. On the other hand, the portions were large, the service was great, and the place was small and clean. But I'm not sure that I would go back.

The Jumbo BBQ basket is awesome! Sweet tea is always perfect and the fried green tomatoes are amazing!
