Good, homestyle country cooking--so good that we actually went back and ordered an extra side. Service is friendly-the greet you at the door kinda place. Nothing super awesome ambience-wise, not overly aesthetically pleasing, but that doesn't deter me!!!! Definitely a place to go for good food at a great price.

I am so disappointed, yesterday i called to order a popcorn chicken salad- which have been good lately- no fryer for popcorn chicken. Today I call to order my fave- popcorn chicken salad - no salad! Wtf?!! I told the person that answered the phone that the restaurant is very disappointing! Guess I'm going to have to give up popcorn chicken salads!

A hidden gem in the mountains near the North Carolina and Tennessee border. If you have a huge appetite, get the large and in charge holy cow burger. Large menu and good prices. Lots of choices for milkshakes and ice cream.

I ordered drove to window. I waited 10 minutes watching a girl lean on the counter. 5 more minutes went by girl still leaning on counter and no one comes to window. No one at snytime came to window to say how long it would be or to take my money. This is not the proper way to run a business. I know things are laid back in the south but this was just plain rude. I drove away offerinv the same courtesy that I received. Reply to Owners Message: I'm sorry I took some time to respond to you because I was still frustrated about the situation. I will give you some details. I posted the review either the day of the incident or a few days after, I cannot remember. This is what happened. I'll try to remember my order the best I can. French Fries, Chicken Fries, A hotdog, 2 milkshakes, and 2 sodas. I believe to the best of my knowledge that is what I ordered. We ended up eating at Captain Jack's in Hampton. Mainly because we were already late to meet a friend. We ordered at the speaker. Then we drove around. No one came to the window. The girl up front leaned on the counter talked to some people in the lobby and I assume someone else near her. We could not see who it was. She did not look like she was clocking in. Nor did she look interested in greeting us at the window at anytime. She could have at the very least came over and said "Hi, were making your food fresh so it will be a few moments." Then she could have took our money and locked in the sell. She made a lot of mistakes from representing the restaurant to allowing us to get away. I was a manager for years. I personally think this girl was lazy and could care less about representing Bob's in a positive light. However she did manage to leave a lasting impression. The fact that you took the time to write a response to my review tells me you care about your business. It tells me you care about your customers. Due to this fact I'll try give you guys another shot in the near future. All things heal with time. I hope to come back and leave a more positive review.

On a trip to the mountains of North Carolina, my travel companion and I visited some local antique shops. We posed the question to one of the antique store owners: Where would an honest-to-goodness, hole-in-the-wall, biscuits-and-gravy, divey, gritty, greasy-spoon be? We want to go where the locals go. We want off-the-beaten-path. We want small-town ambiance. The answer to this inquiry was Bob's Dairyland, bien sur! The friendly owner pointed us on our way, just across the Tennessee border. This venue epitomizes the term "greasy spoon". We walked in and all of the locals looked up from their grits. We may as well have been two aliens entering. Most of the patrons were wearing John Deere t-shirts and overalls. Noon on Tuesday. Lunchbreak. Place is packed. Everyone seems to know one another. I think I heard "Chatanooga Choo Choo" playing in the background. It's the Tennessee version of "Cheers" for biscuits and gravy. Precisely what we were seeking! We ordered at the counter. They serve biscuits "until they run out", according to the menu. They were out by the time we had arrived. I opted for the country ham on toasted bread with cheese and tomatoes on the side. A side order of hashbrowns. My travel companion ordered a burger with cheese, chili, bacon and a scoop of barbecued pork to top it off. And a side of onion rings. I know. I know. Why do you think I'm just referring to him as my travel companion? I'm fairly certain he doesn't enjoy the exposure. But for the record- he's very fit and trim. So I think a burger here and there does one's fit and trim body good. Keeps one's jeans from falling off one's fit and trim abs. I digress...... We picked a booth by the window. Perfect spot- overlooked the mountains and the gorgeous fall colors. Colors on trees that only exist in magical mountain towns. The food came fairly quickly. The ham was perfect- salt cured and mouth-watering. (Yours truly's mouth is watering as these words are being typed.) The burger was orgasmic in nature. I couldn't really get my mouth around it, but once I did......ohmygodohmygodohmygod. We didn't try the beans that were advertised on the billboard outside, but I would certainly give them a go next time. If you happen to be passing through this blissful mountain town just across the NC border, give this spot a go. Country cookin' at its finest.

It is best to go inside. Window service continues to be a major issue...Inside service is great.

The ambience is lacking, and the flies can be annoying. (Yes, inside) But the BBQ is good (sliced, not pulled). And the beans are outstanding--including celery, pork, and more.
