We have been eating at Chicken Real since the moved into Shiloh Plaza in Hermitage. CHICKEN REAL IS THE REAL DEAL!!! Tosha and her staff definitely know what they are doing Your chicken is cooked to order SO please be patient! all the side fixins are homemade and they are off the charts good!! it definitely beats the other chicken place hands down! lol and yes we love the dive-y feel to the place! have always found those are the best places for real deal food Thank You Tosha and Chicken Real

This is a hidden gem! Everything is served hot, fresh, and with amazing flavors. I had the spicy chicken strips meal with read beans and rice and fried pickles. It was fire! I'd definitely make it back here again with friends. The only things that I didn't like the poor ventilation, (very hot inside), and the piping hot food which scalded my mouth.

I just moved here to the Hermitage area 1 year ago, and I LOVE this place! I'm so glad my boyfriends co-workers told us about the chicken here. You guys have 2 new fans! We tell everyone back in Texas about this place! Not only is the chicken good, the people that work there are extremely friendly and very welcoming. :)

I can't believe there is only one review of this place. Over the past coupla years I've used yelp, but never written any reviews. Chicken Real was so off the charts good that I created an account for the express purpose of spreading the word. The chicken was fresh and well seasoned without being over seasoned; fried up nice and crispy, but not too dry and not too greasy. The service was fast, but not rushed. I can say hands down this is the best chicken (excluding my grandmother's chicken of course) that I have ever eaten. I went with two other friends and we talked about it for days!! We were visitors to the state of TN and this is one heck of an ambassador! You gotta get some of this!

Like a migrant gypsy, elusively appearing in random locations to charm you with her mystic wares, Chicken Real has been sojourning up and down Lebanon Pike. Randomly camping at varied locations, Chicken Real has been slinging some of Nashville's favorite hot chicken for years now. Gratefully, the caravan has finally found a permanent home. Located in Shiloh Plaza, right at the edge of Hermitage and Mt. Juliet, Chicken Real has set down roots. So let's get to what really matters - the food. Unlike some other hot chicken joints in Nashville, the spice is in the batter, not a rub, so this chicken isn't greasy or flaming red. In fact, just looking at it, the fried bird at Chicken Real looks a lot like what you would get at KFC. However, that's where the similarity ends. One bite, and you will know the meaning of hot chicken. Served in levels from mild to deadly, you can order your chicken at whatever heat level you can handle. The wings are definitely a favorite - however, anything off their menu will satisfy that Cajun craving. You would be amiss, however, to simply stop at the chicken. Almost as famous are the burgers. Or at least, what they call burgers; which, in reality, are more like whole cows between buns. When you go, make sure you check out the specials of the day. The menu rotates, but if you go on Friday, the special is "customer request", meaning, if you have a craving for something not on the menu that day, they will be happy to make it for you. So come get your fortune read by these hot chicken gypsies. Trust me - there will be heat and flavor in your cards.

As far as hot chicken that had the dry rub and not the batter, this place is it! Unfortunatley the side items are mediocre, but who goes to a hot chicken place for the sides? The fish is equally good. Never tried any of their daily specials, but I can only imagine that they are as equally delightful. Most Definetly worth the trip

Nope. It's nothing like the reviews. It's like I'm not even writing of the same place. I ordered a two piece dark meat dinner, which included two sides, but no drink. They clearly made it to order, but the wait was more than ten minutes. I wasn't surprised by this, as they told me it would take that long, but it was a long wait for the the food. When I got the chicken, it was not moist, and the breading was not very crispy or flavorful. The mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a mix, and the green beans tasted like they came from a can. Neither were worth having at all. Nothing had any real flavor, it cost more than it was worth for two small pieces of chicken and two small sides. I'd much rather go down the road to one of the ture fast food chicken places like Church's. Not going back.
