We stopped in Newport, TN for a night on a road trip. We randomly stumbled upon this restaurant. It was amazing! Delicious food starting with the rolls and ending with the best cheesecake I've ever had. (The flavors change but the pineapple was awesome!) The service was really good and they were hosting an event at the same time. And if deep fried twinkles are your thing my fiancé loved his - not my thing though. The only drawback to this restaurant is that they are not open Monday or Tuesday. So the last time I drove through I was disappointed to not get to try some more food. If you're in Newport or passing through and need to stop for food this is the place!

Traveling from Chicago. Stopped for dinner. Half price appetizers from 5-7...we had fried pickles. Ordered our meals which came with not 1, not 2, but THREE sides! Hot fresh rolls were thrown to us shortly after. Drinks are served in mason jars. I enjoyed the hub cab country fried steak ...there was no way I could finish it all....came out on a big frying pan filled with delicious food. My mom ordered the meat loaf. Dad ordered the fish fry. Riley was a great server. No complaints. Nice little tavern.

I had the fried pork chops and fried taters and onions. It was like eating at my Momma's table!! The moonshine margaritas were refreshing and easy to drink! Definitely one of my top five places to eat!! The live bluegrass band helped round out the experience.

The food is some of the best. The place could use some cleaning and the servers could use a little pep. I prefer when servers do no carry the trays on their shoulders, to close to the hair (hair that had endured a lot of sweat that day) Some of the furniture needs to be replaced however the food is great and the live music makes for a great visit.

Love the " hub cap"......country fried steak, yummy.....great taste and served in an old skillet......sweet tea was real good too....my waitress, Kelly, was super friendly and provided great service.....even gave me a sweet tea for the long drive to Florida

Come hungry because you get a ton of food in a large skillet. The food was fresh and oh so good! The waitstaff was friendly and the service was impeccable. It's worth every penny. My husband and I loved it!

A jewel of a restaurant! It's not on one of those exits you'd expect to find a great meal and experience off of. The staff is friendly and the environment is like stepping back in time to either your favorite honky tonk, blue plate dinner, or Sunday lunch at Grandma's house! I highly suggest The Hub Cap-Trucker Special along side of the "throwed rolls"! Classic old-school southern fare. One of the best things I've ever had!

This place says streakhouse... But it's just a bar with a crappy diner on the side. The booth we sat in looked like my dog chewed half of it up. Fried pickles were the best we've ever had but I wouldn't go back.

The trip from Nashville to Raleigh was a bit of a rough one after some serious delays and nonsense, then forgetting to eat a full meal for lunch. We were famished and desperate for a dinner option, so we started feebly Yelping and found this place. Then when we saw a billboard for it, we knew we had to go. The only thing that I didn't like about this place was the service. We were neglected for a little too long for me not to complain a bit. This could have been influenced by the fact that we had been on the road all day, were SUPER hungry and I was trying to get to my friend in Raleigh before 3am, but alas, none of those things could have changed the fact that service was slow, I couldn't have had more than one beer to ease the pain, and we couldn't have really done anything about it. Unfortunately, during the sluggish service, the waiter/bartender decided to count tabs and arrange his tickets LITERALLY 2 inches away from me on the bar. So there I was sitting at the bar with checks in front of me basically where my food should have been while we were waiting. Personal bubble invasion that really put me on edge. We also didn't get any rolls. For being the home of the "throwed roll", you'd think we would get some rolls...so curious about those. They brought some to everyone but us as we were finishing up. The place wasn't too busy, but we didn't see a host or anyone seating people, so we went to the bar. We were the only two people at the bar and my friend saw that moonshine margaritas were on special BOGO. Unfortunately, that special was outdated, but she did end up getting tequila margaritas BOGO. She ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, green beans, and carrots, and I had a burger. The food was AMAZING. Seriously some of the best we encountered on this trip and one of the best burgers I've ever had. I ordered my burger medium and got it with just enough pink in the middle--so refreshing not to get an overdone burger--and the waffle fries were probably frozen, but delicious. My friend's meatloaf and veggies were all so tasty and relieving (a meal reminiscent of a home cooked one is such a relief on a road trip) as well and we cleaned our plates. I was pleasantly surprised. I'd probably stop here again on another trip, but would definitely allot more time to the whole experience just to get some of the good food and give everyone enough time to dilly dally. TLDR: Food is FANTASTIC, service was slow, and rolls were missing from the experience. 4 stars are definitely for the food and cool small town atmosphere, but not the wait.

Food ok. Service is slow as all Hell. Waitress couldn't quit running her mouth long enough to take our money.

Lunch is quite good for the price.$4.99. Several good choices, but nothing to write home about. Yes,the waitress is waaaaay too talkie. Prices for meals other than lunch seemed very high, considering the locale, service and setting.

Went with my wife and parents on a Monday for supper. There were a few other customers but not very busy. Our food was good but the server was a bit slow. Rather than fill our drinks she would notice they were empty and then apologize for not filling them. Overall a good place to dine, with a nice atmosphere. We will probably return, but drink slower :-)

I live in New York and only come to the area when I visit family, so unfortunately I can't come here very often. My family came here on Thursday, for the live bluegrass music. We'd been here before several months ago, on a Wednesday, which I can't recommend because they still don't have their smoker on at that point (or least they didn't on that day). This time I was determined to have the ribs I wasn't able to get the last time and they were fantastic, the meat literally fell of the bone. My fried okra and sweet potato were excellent. The steak seemed to be well received by the rest of my family, as well as the hubcap. The rolls they throw at you, were actually not as good as the last time, rather dry in fact. Desserts were okay, the pecan pie was the best out of the bunch that we sampled. I didn't have this time, but previously had the pineapple cheesecake, and while it was good, it wasn't quite worth the calories. The music was fantastic. The men playing were wonderful performers. I wish I could have stayed longer, but my family wanted to leave when the first set was over, due to it being uncomfortably hot in the restaurant due to the A/C being broken. I wasn't too bad for me, but for others it was very unpleasant. I will definitely come back for more bluegrass!

You know, I have eaten many of the top rated restaurants in the world. This restaurant is slowly becoming my favorite anywhere. The owners and staff are very nice, the food is just rock solid good and gives you the warm and fuzzy feeling. Seating area choices are perfect and I always look forward to eating there. It is what a meal should be, relaxing, reasonable, tasty and satisfying with enough of the local atmosphere to make you smile.

Great place, great service. Owners are operators. Menu is huge and very well priced. They have a decent selection for booze and better for beer. They are the home of "throwed rolls" and that is the truth! Their wings are kick ass, bigger than most and with plenty of tang and zing! Only critiques: my steak came out 1 min after my salad "that's what happens when you order a rare steak" I was told - and my red wine with my meal was WAY too hot. Take those things off the shelf and get them down to 65. No one wants to drink a wine at 80* but when left on a bar thats where they'll be.

This place is great. We stopped here 2 years ago on a whim and now stop here every year on our vacation trek through Tennessee. The country fried steak is the way to go for 9.95 and 3 sides you can't go wrong. This is one of those places where if your on a long drive after eating a meal here you'll need a nap. Do yourself a favor and follow the billboards to Brandywine Creek.
