Bagels have really unique flavor. Will definitely say that, however egg sandwiches are sub par. I really don't like microwave patty style eggs, thats what fast food is for!

Love Star Bagel. Talk about the ultimate local spot for breakfast. Nestled in Sylvan Park makes it a convenient place to grab a bite before work or on the way to school. The ambiance is family focused, almost a "Cheers" vibe. The regular retirees enjoy their decaf coffee and muffin over their morning paper. Staff are full of joy and are eager to wish you well on your day. My personal favorites are the Challah bagel and basic breakfast sandwich. And they now offer fresh juice, so you don't want to miss that!

It was ok. Great location. Super kind staff. Good food, fair bagels.

The salmon bagel here was the BEST!! Really the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. The customer service was wonderful and I loved my experience here! I took bagels home too and they were delicious. I recommend everyone to come here!

Star Bagel is my weekend breakfast/lunch go-to. Their extensive menu is all you could ask for and more from a bagel & sandwich shop. Coffee, smoothies, hot and cold sandwiches, juices, bagels and cream cheese, a small outside patio. If there is a line, it is worth the wait (but a tip: you can call ahead and order for takeout). My favorites include the Garlic Bagel (if you get there before they sell out), the BALT with pesto mayo on asiago sourdough, ANY sandwhich on the asiago sourdough really, cafe au lait, the list goes on... The only issue I've ever had was when I asked to get two different flavors of cream cheese on each side of my bagel, they could not do it. I totally don't get it. How hard is it to use two different spatulas and put on two different cream cheeses, one flavor a side? I was a little irked by this frankly. But I will try to forgive this, or just try to order it again when it is someone else taking my order. In the end, go to Star Bagel. You won't be disappointed.

Yep, more than two years later I'm still a huge fan of this awesome cafe. Their food is consistently delicious, and they are so proud to offer items local and organic. The Green Eggs & Ham bagel is my new favorite. I can't even begin to tell you all the amazing components of this bagel - it's just addicting! They also stock cold-pressed juices from Nashville Roots. Absolutely perfect to grab a bottle to get the day started right, or stopping in after a workout on the greenway for some juicy goodness. I especially love both of the kale varieties. Parking is still a pain, but at least the new roundabout didn't take away any of the existing.

Great bagels, coffee and fresh juice. They have a broad selection of bagels with even more options for "fillings". Try the green eggs and ham. Which was amazing!!

Stumbled upon this neighborhood spot and I'm glad I did. Had one of the best chicken salad sandwiches on artisan cranberry walnut bread. Staff are super friendly. And lots of natural light streams through the wonders while you sit.

Been coming to this place for gosh like 18 years. When did it explode!?! Yes it was always a decent coffee place and good for coffee and bagel and smear/bagel sandwich. We have gone on every day of the week including weekends. We left after the flood and recently came back and came to Star bagel to get our lazy early Sat Am coffee and bagel. OMGosh...the place blew up. I did not count how many deep were in the line. I think I remember counting 11 but stopped. I looked at my SO and thought. How the heck did this place become so crazy busy. Then I thought and voiced out loud. Are we too old for this place? We were def not the oldest, but it is a bit hipster/athletic/college/high school vibe going. We are non of those. Just 40+ people that kept a house in the city because the house on the River was flooded. Don't get me started. Remember the old faces from way back when, there were 2 of them, still as sweet and a few younger versions. All pretty speedy and nice and still a great place, but this time, there is a different vibe. A WE LOVE NASHVILLE vibe. We have seen this in a lot of places, but our little Star Bagel also has this. We still had a few tables to choose from and people are very nice. Reminded me of a coffee shop in DC or Philly. Nice people who just want a coffee and pastry. I am just incredulous how after this place has been around so long, how crazy crowded it finally has become. Have to add, last time I was here, was 2010, so 5 years later...Great place, great coffee, friendly FAST service and now with a new twist of lots people watching opps. Cannot say anything to the juices or smoothies. We have a Blendtec and Ninja so just cannot justify the spending. But the fresh pressed juices i would like to try too, maybe they do something different I don't know.

This place has a huge menu with something for everyone. Lots of sandwiches, bagels, muffins and pastries - you name it. They also have pretty much any coffee drink you could want, smoothies, juice. It isn't a huge place but they have some tables both inside and out. Also with it being a bit away from the city, it is easy to park.

Highlight of 2015 thus far for me was discovering Star Bagels' Chicken Salad on Cranberry bread. Made with antibiotic free chicken and piled high on top of fresh, and slightly chewy cranberry packed sliced bread... deeeelish. I love the addition of halved grapes as the add that extra touch of sweetness. Paired with a bag of chips, this makes the perfect lunch for right under $7. Star Bagel is also great for grabbing breakfast for a large crowd as their Bagel Bundle is ~$8 and extremely fresh and chewy. Hey, if its the bagel select of my Jewish friends... its the bagel select for me.

Prices have gotten so high! After decades of bagels, I fear my pocket book can no longer bear the burden of you fancy milk, organic eggs & fresh juice. My once regular breakfast stop will have to become a special weekend kind of thing. Whatever happened to grabbing a bagel with cream cheese and coffee for under $5? Juice upwards of $8 is crazy. I know they are proud of their ingredients, but who can justify a breakfast stop for $11-$17 a couple of times a week? I will miss you Star Bagel, but you're prices are too high for my morning routine.

It's an excellent place for some breakfast food. It's located a bit away from the city, however it does have parking. The parking can be a bit tight though, and there is usually a bunch of people here, so you may have to tap into your creative genes to get a spot. The food here is excellent, and the prices are decent. The people seem friendly, and there is a decent seating area. It's not a high glamour place, so it's not going to wow you, but they have a ton of options, and very customize able. I usually order online (a great feature, which wins a star in my heart) and just pick it up. However, they seem to get those delayed, and sometimes don't get the order, so if you order online, make sure you call ahead to see if they got the order. I don't think too many people do it, so they rarely check I believe. The bagels are excellent, and the cream cheese is pretty good. A good amount of choice for bagels and cream cheese. I'm not a culinary expert when it comes to telling you if it was made fresh or a year ago in some warehouse, but it tasted very good to me. They have a pizza on a bagel option, which most likely isn't very healthy, but something I can definitely eat, enjoy, and then omit on the fitness pal account. Essentially some cheese, and toppings on a bagel. The veggie wrap is excellent, I've gotten the hummus and veggie one and it's a wonderful wrap. The best thing about it is the customize able aspect of it, so you can choose from a bunch of stuff, rather than the standard affair at cafe's where you have to all but choose from what they serve. I haven't tried out their drinks, but some of them do seem appealing. The staff is friendly for sure. Just be warned that this place gets very busy in the morning, so you may have to set apart some time to get your food.

My friends and I had finished a long night of drunken debauchery downtown and crashed at one of their houses in the Sylvan Park neighborhood. Upon waking, we decided that we needed some sustenance, STAT. My friend mentioned that this place is legit so we walked over here fairly early on a Saturday morning. I could tell this place was pretty popular because of the line that basically never gets any smaller the entire time we were there. The menu looked good, with quite a variety of options and come on, who doesn't love bagels? Exactly. I opted for the California sandwich on the spinach and herb bagel. It had roma tomatoes, avocado, eggs, and Swiss cheese. It was super tasty and you could tell that they use really fresh ingredients, which it seems like something that they really care about. I think it's great that they try and use lots of local ingredients too. I also got one of the smoothies (definitely needed post-drinking) and I can't remember the name, but it had spinach, banana, pineapple juice, and mango I believe. It was really delicious. I would 100% come back here again if I'm in the neighborhood, which seems to be happening a little bit more often lately. The service is excellent, everyone is super nice, and the food is really great. They really take pride in what they're making, which I think makes a big difference. I would definitely recommend!

This is my go-to bagel breakfast spot for Sylvan Park. I'm a fan of the food but really like the people and atmosphere. Food: I order a toasted blueberry bagel with butter and strawberry cream-cheese. I usually order 2 with the intention of saving one for later. Then, I eat both and fall into a food coma until lunch. My only complaint is that Star Bagel can be inconsistent with your order. I pick up a lot and would recommend checking your order before you leave. Sometimes, they forget to toast the bagel or forget the cream-cheese. Service: there's usually 2 people taking orders. The line can be fairly long on a nice weekend. It's hard to justify waiting in line for 10 or 20 minutes since I'm only grabbing bagels, but I go early (8 or 9am) and avoid the rush. There is this one little lady who always takes my order. She is really friendly and sometimes hilarious. I find most of the workers there really nice. I go fairly frequently, and they greet me like a regular. Atmosphere: love the place. It's local Nashville, low-key and charming. On a nice day, you can eat breakfast or grab some coffee and sit on the deck.

A healthier spin on a bagel place-but I'm giving it high marks anyway ;-) LOCAL. Independent business, locally sourced for a lot of ingredients. Pleasant staff. Fast service. Very Large Menu of Breakfast and sandwhich types with Nitrate free meats, gluten free options etc. Luckily, they had Bacon and good sized bagels! The bagels are on the softer side which is great for sandwiches and I just heard over the speaker that they make PIZZA BAGELS. That's one to try next time. Also heard a rumor there are salads... Coke products (yes!) and all sorts of infused, blended, smoothed drinks. Seems to be a very hip and cool place which is of course why I am here... Deduct one star as the dining area really could use closer attention today. Has to be due to the large crowds that keep flowing through but there it is. Will be back!

I went into Star Bagel with minimum expectations. It's a bagel shop. How good could it be? I was actually surprised at the great variety they had to offer. Even after waiting in a long line I still wasn't able to make up my mind as to what I wanted. I ended up having the Santa Fe sandwich on a honey wheat bagel. Great sandwich. Would try it again but there are too many others I want to try. I think I found my new bagel shop for weekend mornings.

My breakfast sandwich was delicious and I'm pretty sure the juice was a big help to my hangover from my adventures on Broadway the night before, but the star of this dining experience was my dirty chai. I'd never had one before but it seemed like a good idea at the time. It was SO. DELICIOUS. And now I've ordered them in six or seven other places and they're never as good. :( Y'all ruined me.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place and the juice bar. Sandwiches are amazing as is the coffee. My only complaint is that it's not open after 6 PM - I could eat breakfast, lunch AND DINNER here!

I have a love for bagels and hear their ads on radio all the time which initially brought me in. I always do the nova lox bagel. The quality of food and friendly staff is work coming back for.

I stop in Star Bagel every day for my morning coffee (their custom roasts, or local Drews Brews), and either a perfectly made muffin or Danish. Weekends I get the Green Eggs & Ham, and lunch I'll get the Chipotle Chicken Breast sandwich and the greatest tea/juice blend ever, their Fruit Tea. I've never had a bad meal, a bad experience, or bad interaction with all the wonderful people who work their. This morning, one (who is such a fantastic person, but I won't name) apologized that I had to wait 2-3 minutes to order (which speaks to their custom service mindfulness), but I thought it ludicrous and told him, "that's what I like about this place". He said, "waiting in line?" jokingly. I explained that that wasn't it, it was the fact that everyone their will chat with you, get to know you, genuinely look happy to see you everyday. I had to wait 2-3 minutes to order because he was getting to know a couple he was introducing himself and sharing some information with them. That's exactly what neighborhoods and cities need more of, places like Star Bagel where they know your name, your order, and get to know you. Places you look forward to stopping in every morning. You can not go wrong with Star Bagel, ever.

Not my favorite breakfast place. If you order a breakfast sandwich with egg, its so hot from the microwave that you have to wait 10 minutes to eat. Nothing is local, or even has a hint of freshness. I'm not some hyper local, super organic freak, but there are so many other breakfast places around that serve local products (eggs, meat, cheese, milk, etc.) The chocolate milk in the cooler is a Kirkland brand juice box! Seriously?!? Call the Hatcher Farm Dairy and get some good local stuff. It's kinda sad because this place has a lot of potential. To be the only breakfast place in a young, fairly hip neighborhood, I'd expect more.

Been here once for a late breakfast. I got a smoked turkey sandwich. The wife got a breakfast sandwich and we split one of their pastries. 3 stars seemed about right because really it was one of those places that was good but not great. Not really memorable. The lady working the cash register seemed kinda out of it. Decent place but doesn't seem like anything real special.

Favorite quick breakfast spot when I visit Nashville! Their bagel sandwiches are delicious (try the California or the green eggs and ham) and they also have awesome pressed juices and smoothies. The coffee is good too with a customer-honesty policy of one free refill and then $.75 afterwards (you refill yourself.) Their chai lattes could be better though, they are way too sweet and doesn't really have that warm spice flavor, and parking is also a hassle but that's just because it's always so busy. Everyone who works there is great, and one of the cooks gave me a free cookie once when he noticed I waited a little too long--such a nice gesture never goes unnoticed! I'll definitely be back on my next trip to Music City!

Star Bagel is a really cool little Bagel shop in Slyvan Park. Home to some of the best outdoor seating in Nashville, this is definitely a good place to tarry awhile and read or just plain fester. They have an array of fresh bagels, sandwich options, and of course coffee. I like to stop here for a good breakfast sandwich. The ingredients are pretty standard, but it is the bagel that makes all the difference. Pretty much if you are looking for a relaxing and quiet place to chill out and have some coffee, read, and eat then this is the place for you.

While the bagels can't be NY (no Canadian water here), the coffee is great - especially when you're a Sylvan Parker on-the-go. However, the bagel quality doesn't matter so much since this is a fave with parents. Little ones are welcomed and gives the small porch and inside dining area a lively feel.

I eat here maybe 2-3x a month, mostly due to location, if it were 20 minutes away...I wouldn't make the drive. The sammys and salads are yummy, the bagels are decent, and the coffee is pretty good. Weekends are packed and parking is rough. The staff seems a little stoned...........Overall, it has the potential to be an amazing little cafe or even a wine bar!

Goldies across the street feels more authentic to me for the New York bagel vibe. The coffeeehouse down the street near West End Ave. has wifi and this does not. They do indeed have great bagels.

Their pesto chicken sandwich is so delicious! Star Bagel cafe emphasizes that the chicken is antibiotic free. And it was reasonably priced.

The bagels are good, but I am not so sure about those bagel sandwiches. There are 2 problems with the sandwiches. First, the egg is microwaved. I understand they are trying to make and serve their food fast, but seriously? Microwaved eggs?!?! It doesn't matter how fancy and organic you advertise your eggs to be, microwaving them just entirely ruin the flavor and textual. Second, only one thin slice of meat in the sandwiches. I mean if I were to buy those deli meat, I would at least put 2 or 3 slices in a sandwiches. The meat is so thin and negligible. It felt quite a rip off.

This is one of the many charming establishments that can be considered part of the heart and soul of Sylvan Park. The menu is creative, with fantastic, REAL food, that's really good and good for you. They are well situated for a stop in on the way to or from, as well as nice sit-down break. Their lack of wifi is regrettable, but on a nice day you can sit outside on the deck and pick up the Metro Parks free wifi from across the street.

Star bagel is fantastic. The food is awesome and the staff is friendly. In my opinion they have they best drip coffee in town. The new smoothie bar is a little pricey but everything is fresh and delicious. A must try.

Challah Bagel!! OMG!!! CHALLAH BAGEL!!! Alright, now that I have that out of my system, let's move on. Something that I find quite a challenge in my experiences in many restaurants. Service. Yes, I said service. I mean, honestly, food is good, right?! But what can make the very best bagel sandwich taste bad?? The Service. Well, not in this place. It was so nice to walk in, not be rushed to order, and be talked to. Being my first trip, I was a little concerned, but they lead me through the ordering process. My bagel sandwich was good...eggs, good. turkey sausage, good. Cheese, good! Fact that the person taking my money noticed my dog on my credit card....AWESOME!!! Not only that, but they noticed that I tipped, and thanked me! Never happens. People feel entitled to a tip these days, and that's just not the case. Truth be told, I work hard for my money, and if I feel that you deserve my money more than I do, that means that you worked harder!!! Congrats...or rather...MAZEL TOV, to Star Bagel!

I love Star Bagel. I live right around the corner, and being a good jewish-ish boy, I need my occasional bagel. I've lived in Los Angeles and NYC and honestly, Star's aren't the same as those, BUT for living in the Belt Buckle of the Bible Belt they're pretty dang good. I recommend their Sesame/Poppy/Challah bagels, and their cream cheese is a good deal too. It's also kinda fun to go sit down and have a bagel sandwich sometimes. If you're in the area and looking for lunch/breakfast you can't beat'em.

You can't go wrong at Star Bagel!!!! I fell in love with this place when I moved to Sylvan Park, and they have more of my money than I wish to share. Pick any bagel sandwich you like; they are all so good. My favorite bagels are the ET (everything) and the egg. You can order a dozen bagels with a variety of cream cheeses (bring them into the office and you will be a hero!) and I haven't had anything here I don't like. Drink wise, the smoothies are fantastic and when I need an iced soy latte, I walk down and get my fix. They have a raspberry mocha that is extremely good as well! It gets VERY busy at peak times on the weekend; I've seen lines out the door and parking is difficult sometimes if you don't live close. I have gone on week day mornings around 7:30 and it hasn't been too terribly busy. They are pretty quick with orders. Great local breakfast place that makes me happy to live in Sylvan Park!

Good bagels. Really good bagels. Just wish they had a jalapeño or green chile cream cheese. Doesn't make any sense that a bagel joint doesn't have a jalapeño cream cheese - they go hand in hand. Their lox makes up for it though.

Cute bagel shop with bagel sandwiches, juice, granola and coffee. Seating for about 25-30 people. This is very neighborhood feeling with many people exchanging hellos and handshakes and hugs. Prices were reasonable I got a bagel with cream cheese and coffee for $4.75. The staff was friendly and welcomed me! The interior is pretty basic, nothing really exciting to admire and the bathroom is sorta in the backroom and very dirty..... but I suppose you dont go to a bagel place to use their bathroom? Parking can be limited at peak times (7:30-8:30pm). I was told that the bagels and cream cheese is made from scratch and it tasted like that. I felt like this place (maybe it was the time I was going -- 7:30am) was filled with 55+ folks. Looks thats fine, but as I was checking my facebook and talking about my questionable night out with friends I got a few smug looks. No one on ipads, computers here, newspapers and coupon clippping all day long. The bagel and cheese was good but nothing I'd drive out of my way for. However support LOCAL BUSINESS. It's what makes America GREAT.

Absolutely loved this place! Been in Nashville for only three days and I have had breakfast here the past two days. It is a super cute and very simple deli type atmosphere. I kept it simple and got plain bagel with their plain cream cheese. I know very generic but was so good! I also got the Atomic Bomb smoothie which was so delicious. I haven't ever had a smoothie with coconut cream and I have to stay I like it a lot better that having it plain yogurt. Suggest giving it a try :)

Good coffee, interesting breakfast sandwich combos, and nice ambience. I didn't experience any of the parking woes others described, but did not come at the breakfast rush. From the size of the lot, I could see how this could happen. All in all, a charming casual place in Sylvan Park. I would certainly return to Star Bagel.
I had been hearing the ad for this restaurant on lighting 100 for a while, and decided to try it out when I had family in town. They liked this place so much, we visited 3 times while they were here for the week. The food is fresh and delicious. The menu has a great selection. The smoothies are the best I've had anywhere and that goes for the bagels as well. The staff is patient and very helpful when you are ordering. I love to support local businesses and I am looking forward to becoming a regular at this delicious cafe.
One of my favorite places in Nashville. Very popular with a mixed crowd. Service is consistently great and fast (even if you see a line when you go in: don't worry, it moves quickly)! I love the mushroom spinach omelette melt on everything bagel. They do need to upgrade the seating on the patio, though!

Cherepaha B.
I"m here from New York for a few days, and I have to say - the bagels are solid as back home, maybe even better. I just wish they made pumpernickel varieties. (They do have a pumpernickel muffuletta.) The sandwiches are great, everything is home-made, this place is for real. There is no wifi - and that's quite a blessing, really.
(5)
Jennifer M.
Ultimately the food was good, but what a horrible experience: impossible the read the fine print on the posted menu, nowhere to form a line, cashier trying to convince me to change my sandwich order to something else because my order "wouldn't be good on a bagel." Lastly, my "toasted bagel" was missing the toasted part... How can a bagel shop mess up a toasted bagel?
(2)
Bridgette C.
I don't like to be hating on a local place but Star Bagel, you are a conundrum to me. So close, you should be my go-to place any day of the week for breakfast or lunch. And sometimes, you are, but only if I am starving and feeling particularly patient. Because otherwise I might scream. Parking is a nightmare, which isn't necessarily SB's fault, since its on a really awkward corner turn. But if you drive, be prepared to park on a side street or vulture around for someone to come out. But don't expect them to be out soon, because the line is always ridiculously long. And depending on who you get behind the counter, it could take a few minutes to get your order correctly in. And then, to my eternal frustration, they auction the food off by announcing what you got rather than the number plainly stated on your receipt, because nothing gets your morning off to the right start like debating with some random dude if that's your bagel with cream cheese or his. I think I would give this place four starts happily if they would just read the numbers on the ticket. Also, the BF and I get breakfasts to go here a lot, and they have messed up our orders many times. He went so far as to submit an email declaring his upset, and got back a really snarky response rather than a "we are sorry we didn't get that right, what can we do to make this better?" That right there was really upsetting. What place doesn't want to draw customers back in, especially locals? Aside from general annoyances and frustrations like this, the food is decent and the coffee delicious. I love sitting outside when its nice on their patio, though getting a spot out there is akin to winning the lottery...doesn't happen often. It's better to get it to go on busy morning (seating inside is always limited) and have a picnic elsewhere in Sylvan Park or just take it home. This place is so close, so its so sad that going there isn't pleasant most of the time. It's just little things that need to be done to make this place a craving for me, like being better to their customers. If you have time and patience, this place really does have good offerings, but if you're already frustrated, be warned, this place may just add to that.

One of my favorite places in Nashville! Love the bagels, bagel sandwiches, smoothies, coffee drinks, etc. The coffee is good, it seems strong to me but don't take my word for it, I am no coffee expert. Everything tastes so fresh! My favorite sandwich is the asiago turkey or one of the specials with turkey, pesto, and avocado. YUM, please add this to the daily menu! I have also had great service in all of my experiences here. Parking can be tricky but usually I try to go during the off hours or find a spot around the area. It will not stop me from my Star Bagel!

A decent "Bagelery" just a hop skip and a jump away from my apartment. I've been a few times, and while it doesn't have anything that particularly leaps out at me, it does have the hard to find (in the south) SALT Bagel that I love. It can be very popular though, and I've seen it lined up outside the door in the mornings in the summer.

When I'm craving a gluten bomb, this is one of my go-to places. The hummus veggie sandwich (add capers!) is especially delish on a sesame or rye bagel. Bonus: they have several choices of good coffee, along with a pleasant, well-lit atmosphere, a laidback neighborhood vibe, some outdoor seating, and a view of the park across the street.

I really enjoy Star Bagel (I clearly like it since I am apparently the check-in duchess, need to be check-in duchess at a gym now...). The parking situation is iffy but you can almost always find a spot. The bagels are pretty good, but a bit chewy in my professional bagel eating opinion. I come here for two reasons: 1. Best bagel place within five minutes of my house (if I've got time to kill I would choose to drive to Bagel Face in East Nashville for a really premier bagel, but usually Star Bagel suffices). 2. They have smoked salmon cream cheese with big pieces of smoked salmon in it! It combines the best parts of a bagel and lox in one tasty whipped spread. The cream cheese is so good I have bought it on its own before without purchasing any bagels.. keep your judgments to yourself. It's that good, take my word for it. They have really good fruit tea and green tea and mixing them together makes an excellent libation to accompany my bagel with smoked salmon spread. Star Bagel is an all around awesome place with a good selection of bagels, pastries, and coffee, and a much better choice than a lot of the nearby chain bagel shops. 4 stars for Star Bagel.

My favorite place for smoothies, I normally get the green one with coconut milk. It's my favorite smoothie these days, and I drink one probably once a week. My wife loves their bagels, and they have good coffee as well.

This is definitely one of the big Sylvan Park neighborhood haunts. And for the most part it's great. The coffee is good, the service is friendly Here are my pros and cons: PROS Amazing croissants (baked there) Great bagels Great chicken salad Delish fruit tea CONS Parking can be tough sometimes Not a big fan of the tuna salad. All in all a GREAT place to have within walking distance of my house! :) Great local business we're lucky to have.

Great local bagel/ breakfast place. Have visited a few times now and each experience has been good. They have a lot of good bagel and sandwich items, homemade fresh juices, and good coffee. There is a shade covered outdoor patio which is really and pet friendly. Nothing really to complain about so far, plan on continuing to visit.

Fruit Tea, Yogurt granola, salads, etc. everything I have had here is great! Parking is the biggest issue, we often want something delish after a run but cannot bring a group to this place due to lack of parking. It's really too bad because I truly enjoy this little gem!

Star Bagel is the best bagel in Nashville. If you're a skeptic, try the challah bagel with honey cinnamon butter. You'll never go anywhere else.

Excellent place, they have really stepped up in regards to being the West Nashville natural food deli, I really appreciate their commitment to quality. The food is also delicious, with traditional and more experimental sandwiches. My only complaint.... whats up with the no wi fi?

The only thing in this world that motivates me to wake up at 6:00am on a Sunday morning is Star Bagel. I love Star Bagel. Who doesn't love a zesty pizza bagel smothered with fresh homemade cheese? Who doesn't love a Smoked Turkey on Jalapeño Cheddar bread? The possibilities are endless and the food always fresh. The funny thing is I am not sure why I love Star Bagel so much. Yes, the food is delicious and their pre-made salads (the Thai Chicken is my favorite) is probably one of the best salads you can find in Nashville, but there is just something special about the ambiance that adds to the whole experience. Located in Sylvan Park, it is a small homey place that has housed the same staff for years. Their menu is fresh and the location is very relaxing. Be warned, however, that a lot of other people love Star Bagel as well and the place can be super packed during the breakfast hours and you may be out of a place to sit if you arrive at peak times. The good news is the turn around is quite fast and I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes for something to open up. This is definitely a great place and if you haven't been there, you should go. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Found this place on Yelp. When I showed up the line extended all the way through the business. I guess showed up to the right place if it's this busy. Had a breakfast sandwich on a Honey wheat bagel (w/ Ham, sausage, eggs, cheese) and a blueberry muffin. It was all very good. Be advised that parking is a little tough to come by.

I have always been a bit iffy about bagels - they just seem so heavy. However, Star Bagel made me a fan, especially of their sesame bagel. The bread they serve their hot deli sandwiches on is also delicious - they call it a muffaleta bun, and it is freshly made and thick but light with a nice chewy texture, which really makes the roast beef, cheddar, onion and horseradish sandwich (my favorite). If you are in a hurry, there is a refrigerator section with pre-made salads and sandwiches, as well as homemade flavored cream cheeses to compliment the bagels. The coffee drinks are excellent, and they include selections from Sam & Zoe's blender bar, cold concoctions for a caffeine boost during the sweltering days we get here in summer, fall and spring.

Came Sunday morning and it was REALLY busy. The fruit tea was great, coffee was decent. I had the Denver omelet sandwich on a crescent. It was just okay, probably wouldn't get it again. Wish they had WiFi.

I've lived in sylvan park for years and love this place. Great coffee and if you are lucky on the weekends you can find a place to sit outside. A little pricey and if you get the wrong cashier (she's been there for years) be prepared for some rudeness but the food is always good and they seem to be adding new items regularly.

Had been meaning to try Star Bagel for almost a year. Its only a few blocks away from my work on Murphy Rd., so its pretty amazing that I hadn't eaten there until today. I went in and the first thing I saw was the daily special which was a roasted turkey on Ciabatta with pesto. They only make the Ciabatta bread on Fridays, that being said, I am so glad I ended up going in on a Friday. The Ciabatta was ridiculously fresh and a great texture. The only downside was they won't do the half a sandwich combo with the Ciabatta special. However, it wasn't really a downside because as the woman said when I ordered "You will want the whole thing!" And she was absolutely right I did want the whole thing. I also ordered a cup of turkey chili. It was perfect for me, but beware I don't like super spicy chili so while I loved it I have a feeling people looking for a spicier chili might be disappointed. The wait wasn't too bad but I got there a little early for the lunch crowd, right at 11:00. I read on the bag that you can order online and if you are going at a more popular time it might be a good idea to order online. When I'm ordering lunch from work ordering online is always appreciated especially if we are doing a big group order. Star Bagel will definitely be part of my work lunch routine.

This place is great! I love the outdoor seating in the morning. Great place to read. They have a great selection of bagels and bagel sandwiches as well as a lot of great cream cheese spreads. I ended up going with a salt bagel which is hard to find! with salmon cream cheese and it was great! I really can't wait to come back and try one of there bagel sandwiches. There does seem to be a bit of a parking issue but it seems to work itself out ha! But all around I would say this is a great place to come wake up or enjoy a lunch. Well priced quick service.

I have tried to go here on a crowded Sunday and didn't make it to the line that snaked around the shop. Mornings during the week seem to be the sweet spot here. Service is quick and frill-less. The iced coffee is served with crushed ice, and what doesn't taste better with crushed ice? I have had the salt bagle, not like the traditional with large grains of salt but still tasty. Share a cinnamon roll with a friend, not only will they like you better, you won't feel as guilty, secretly take the larger piece.... you bought it anyway.

How can you not love Star Bagel (once you find a parking spot and actually make it in the door)? I have the good fortune of working and living within 5 minutes of this place, so I'm faced with the daily struggle of driving by without always being able to stop in. It's torture. The breakfast and lunch items are equally amazing. I pretty much love anything that can be put on a bagel, so I don't usually stray from their namesake baked good, but I've heard only good things about their other options as well. True, it's a little on the pricey side, 5 or 6 bucks for a sandwich by itself, but just forgo your fancy latte and drink water with it if you're on a budget, ok? The sandwich is worth it. Most recently I had the Turkey Fresco on whole wheat for lunch. I think I made some inappropriate noises when I ate it (...I'll have what she's having!!) As so subtlety alluded to above, the parking is crap and it's usually crowded, especially for breakfast. DO NOT park in front of the dry cleaner next door, the mean lady will yell at you, even if you dropped off your dry cleaning first and then tried to walk over for a delicious breakfast treat.... So I've heard.

I have a bunch of friends in the Sylvan Park area that have always recommended Star Bagel to me. I am a bagel fanatic and enjoy the irresistible combination of bagel and cream cheese, paired with a fantastic cup of coffee. That being said, I had this image in my mind of Star Bagel being this small quaint little shop with a line out the door and no seating. I was pleasantly surprised by the space of the facility. There is a great patio outside and a bunch of tables inside. The atmosphere is nothing to rave about, but for some reason it reminds me fondly of the typical sitcom cafe. I imagine Seinfeld walking in, ordering a bagel and a cup of coffee, and sitting down at just a typical mediocre cafe, complaining about life and its mediocrity. Okay, so maybe not Seinfeld, but if there were a Nashville sitcom, their morning hangout would be this cafe. There's really nothing in particular special about the ambiance, and yet that is exactly what makes it particularly special. Atmosphere aside, let's move on to the goodies. The bagels. Oh, the bagels. They have every variety known to mankind and they are all delicious. Get them toasted, obviously. I ordered the cinnamon raisin swirl with honey walnut raisin cream cheese. Oh, goodness. How I love their cream cheese. It was so smooth, slightly sweet, and packed with yummy goodies like walnuts and raisins. I was at first turned off by the fact that they had spread the cream cheese on my bagel for me, but I think it is only because they have perfected the exact ratio of cream cheese to bagel that equals blissful happiness. Don't worry about them skimping on cream cheese, they definitely put on enough. They also had a variety of other baked goods, but I couldn't very well try Star Bagel Cafe and not eat a bagel. They appear to also have some sandwiches--I have yet to try them. Also, I was impressed at how good the coffee was for a place primarily known for their bagels. They had a wide selection of different brews, and I was impressed even by their house blend. They had a hazelnut brew that I wanted to try but they were all out of it by the time I got there. Great place for breakfast or a cup of coffee. Gets pretty busy in the morning though. I would definitely visit again.

I really like this place. It has a good atmosphere and the prices are great. I adore their bagel sandwiches. I often forget about it because it is in a corner of town that I dont often visit, but when I do, I am always pleasantly surprised.

When I walked into Star Bagel, I did not get a good first impression. I thought the cashier was a little rude and all the food on the menu was overpriced. I also couldn't find a clean table and ended up arranging some chairs and such myself. BUT after I had the Chicken Salad Bagel Sandwich, I was hooked. It really was divine. The sandwiches cost about $6 without a chip or drink, but man are they good! Then to add to the experience, that cashier I initially thought was "rude" came by to check on our food and straighten some tables... and all of sudden that negative first impression just washed away....

Star bagel has everything a great place should. Parking is a nightmare due to it's popularity, so I would suggest the stinky alley, up on a curb, near some trash cans, The cleaners next door tow, as well as the Sylvan Park Cafe, and the nearby rental property is to die for. Had a buddy who lived there once, and I was always proud he didn't die from gorging himself living between Star Bagel and McCabe's Pub. The duplex was small and crappy, however. Bitchy women in work out clothes that throw stares like Bozo slings pie. They alone are worth the higher fare. They even make my wife snicker, especially on a sleepy Saturday morning. I'm just glad someone is able to be fashionable, yet unkept. Orders are spoken thru a microphone which is truly a lost art. Sit down, wait to hear your muffled order, try to read the paper, and check out all the black pants, North Face jackets, and running shoes. Dont' get knocked over by zealous patrons and hipsters. A Mulitasker's dream. Truly. Dogs will be tied up outside, or brought inside if your special and can pull it off. My wife is all about the dogs. If you will go to Star Bagel on a regular basis, you probably don't even have to get a dog, but most people should get their own dog to tie up eventually. Especially if you like dogs AND stars AND bagels. I would highly recommend any of the breakfast bagels. They are all delicious. If you need a guilty pleasure, get a pizza bagel. When I used to hustle loans for the bank on West End, a garlicy pizza bagel was the perfect way to start my crappy day. It is unbelievable! The bank was sold, but the pizza bagel has remained! My wife is fond of the everything bagel, and I'm a honey wheat guy. They don't need much to be good and consistent. We are also mocha fans, which can be hit or miss, mostly hit. Star Bagel is worth the drive across town.

I really wanted to love this place, but I really just kinda like it. The bagels are better than average (probably some of the best in town, not that that says too much). The basic things like bagels and cream cheese are great, and reasonably priced. And they have some awesome deals on bagel-egg sandwiches (which are very good). But neary 7 bucks for a bagel with lox makes me cringe (I know, I know lox is expensive...but it's not THAT expensive). And the coffees and teas are like 5 bucks, which is just crazy. So, pretty good, and in a really neat neighborhood, but...eh.

I passed by the Star Bagel place and there was a big sign that announced "cappuccino!" in the window. Well, if they're announcing espresso drinks, that's means I have to check the place out, because it turns out that I'm the coffee guru around here. If there's an espresso machine in the place, I have to subject myself to the place because I have to keep up the reputation. I didn't want to go to this place. I'm not a fan of Sylvan Park: it's out of the way, it rivals East Nashville in pretentiousness, difficulty to get the basics, and awkward traffic patterns. People live in Sylvan Park ironically like they do in East Nashville. The houses are old and largely ugly, too. So I get there, and apparently the people behind the counter are literally devolved down from humanity back to the time of the pre-chordate animals because they didn't know the roast, they didn't know what "dark" means, and they don't know which bagel is which. I ordered a drink, and as I do, asked about the roast. They had no idea. None. They are serving coffee drinks and know less about it than Starbucks slackers. I asked for a cinnamon raisin bagel, toasted dark, with butter. The first bagel I got was toasted not dark, but black. Does anyone know there's a difference between barely singed and charred? Did they not know that dark and burned are not the same thing? Then they toast another, this time not enough but I'm so irritated that I just accepted it, though I had to ask, again for butter. I tasted no raisins or cinnamon the entire bagel, so I am convinced they just pulled the second one out at random, and it was just a plain. The Americano was nothing special, and the bagel place that has pretension to be a coffee place can't even offer wifi. Really? That cheap and lazy? I sure hope this place is better in the morning, because it's laughably bad in the afternoon.

I met a wonderful 14 year old Corgi named Paddington on Star Bagel's patio. Instant 5 stars! Regarding my experience with the food, the sesame bagel was excellent, dense but not overly chewy. The cream cheese was oozing out all sides, just like you like it. Being a raisin hater, I was a little wary of ordering a spread that contained those little nuggets of evil, but I didn't even notice them. Rumor has it that the cinnamon bagel is amazing, but I wasn't lucky enough to try it this go around. The almond danish was perfect... The buttery, flaky outside pastry encasing a wonderful treasure trove of near-cheesecake filling inside. Just enough sliced almonds adhered to the outside to give it a nice almond flavor. Honestly, it restored my long-lost faith in Danishes. The line looked pretty long, but it moved quickly. There was not much of a wait after placing the order either, so don't fear if you're in a hurry.

Let me start off by saying that I LOVE the bagels here. I have been coming at least once a month for years now. So why 3 stars? Over the course of my visits I have experienced several things that make me cringe. 1) The owner is not very nice. I believe I read another review about a snarky email comment and the same thing has happened to me. I have also had a few things happen while visiting where the owner was beyond snarky to either me or another customer. I have also been scoffed at by an employee when I sent my bagel back because it was not made how I requested (I wanted the cream cheese spread on both sides of my To Go bagel rather than one and then closed). 2) The parking is awful as has been stated. I wish they would just move locations. 3) HYGIENE habits! There is a blonde woman who works there who is always there. She is really really nice and I like her a lot, BUT she wears her gloves non-stop. I've seen her smoke a cigarette outside with the gloves, take people's money, and then reach for a pastry in the same set of gloves. I have left before rather than risk having her touch my food with those gloves. One time I happened upon Star Bagel when it was practically empty (amazing!), but as I waited for my bagel a bucket full of soapy water was taken from the floor around the counter and set ON the counter where they set the food. It sat for 2-3 minutes before someone made it around the counter to get it. The counter was not wiped and my bagel was placed there. I just left as getting my money back there has never been an easy process.

My boyfriend and I have been going to Star Bagel once a week for nearly four years now. It's seriously the best place - fantastic bagels, fantastic people, and I love the fruit tea. What more can I say.

Good bagels, horrible customer service. I know that this review is meant to critique the food, however I must express why I will never be back to Star... After purchasing food and drinks, my car died in their parking lot. There was no compassion or assistance from the person working at Star. Instead, she seemed irritated that I was taking up space - and wouldn't let me have a refill on my coffee (which is 50 cents for everyone else - I ended up paying $2.00 for a second coffee ... while still in the shop eating). This is a pretty cheap way to lose a customer, but I will not be back.

I had heard about the Sylvan Park area so we went to check it out and went this this cafe. The bagels were pretty good 3 out of 5 and the coffee was pretty good too. I asked for a decaf cappuccino and they only carry one kind of expresso so I had to go for the coffee. My husband ordered a cappuccino and thought it was good. Their were quite a few people there for a Saturday morning, some studying some dropping in for breakfast. The place is not a cozy environment but a good place to get a decent bagel without going to a corporate place. I liked that this was in a cool area of town and not in a shopping mall type place.

Because I'm new in town (and only here temporarily), I'm dining solo a lot. And I place a high premium on places where I can get a decent meal, check out the local scene without seeming too much like a wall flower, and not feel isolated or rushed because I'm a single diner. Star bagel is a great, casual place to have a leisurely breakfast sitting outside in Sylvan Park. The iced coffee is strong and good (though there is a lot of ice, so I definitely recommend going for the "large" even if you're just a 1 cup a day coffee drinker). There's a variety of bagel sandwiches that are all under $4. The bagels themselves aren't particularly special (they aren't NY style, if that's your thing), but they're totally fine. As a single diner, wi-fi is pretty important (when you need to entertain yourself with an iPad and to demonstrate to others that you're not a sad lonely soul eating brunch - the most social of all meals - alone). But this place is decidely anti-wifi. I respect that, but be warned. I download the news at home and take it with me. The other day I also brought home a greek salad to go. I don't typically order salads at cafes anymore (because they're usually just there to appease people who only eat salads and are that strange combination of not being particularly good and yet are more expensive than most other items on the menu), but I wasn't that hungry and bought it as a security measure. I ended up eating it the next day and was very surprised at how fresh and perfect it was! The salad was a simple affair - romaine, red onions, feta, olives, banana peppers - but it was so fresh (!!!) and well proportioned. And the salad dressing was homemade and had a lot more heft than just oil/vinegar. I might actually get it again sometime (even though it was over $5 and wouldn't alone satisfy a meal in a place where $4 gets you quite a bit of food, but that's just being relativistic). Also, I should note: some reviews complain about the difficulty snagging a spot in the parking lot, but I've never had a problem.

Love love love! Friendly staff, delicious coffee, great bagels. You can't beat the outdoor space on a nice day, either. Try the strawberry fields salad.

The perfect Sunday brunch. For two. I would not recommend this for big parties, but if you grew up going to bagel shops on Sunday mornings at your local Jewish deli, you'll feel right at home the second you walk in this place! I know I did. I got a bagel sandwich with spicy cucumber cream cheese, egg, and tomato on a cranberry orange bagel. Sounds weird, I know. But it was delicious!! That cream cheese is now my new obsession, and I will never be able to look at a bagel the same way again. So. Good. I wanted to jump over the counter and eat all the pastries behind the counter, but I went for a run up to Star Bagel and decided to remain as healthy as possible. Those brownies won't be so lucky next time... And neither will those waffles! Gripes: Super packed shop - could barely maneuver to get a refill on my drink Parking - I'm glad I didn't drive there Cashier - Not rude, but not friendly AT ALL Loves: Super fresh bagels Spicy cucumber cream cheese was heavenly Amazing ice machine (like Sonic ice)

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet! I've been coming here after church every week for the past several months and it never gets old. The choices range from your typical bagel and cream cheese to lox to pizza bagels, then salads, soups, muffaleta-bread sandwiches, wraps, smoothies, coffee, muffins, brownies- they really got it all. My all time faves are the strawberry fields salad (usually incorporated into a pick-a-pair), the pizza bagel, the lox, and the turkey bacon sandwich. I've only been slightly less impressed by the breakfast bagels, but everything else is just amazing. I've never not found a seat on Sunday afternoon, there's a nice outdoor area as well. I'm a regular and I love it!

Star Bagel is one of those places that makes you fall in love with the Sylvan Park area. Cute families and singles abound in this lovely joint, most of which have walked there with their cute dogs in tow! The prices are a little higher than what you'd pay at a chain restaurant, but I feel like the quality of the food and knowing you're supporting a local business make it totally worth the few extra cents. The staff is always friendly, and it's a great place to hang out on the weekends for breakfast. The garlic bagel is my favorite, even though it makes me have dragon's breath for the next few hours! Support local businesses and reap the reward of amazing food. 'Nuff said!

We always seem to come here after shul, not sure what the connection other than it is near West End and there is a nice park across the street. They have great sandwiches. It doesn't matter how many times I eat there, but I always end up getting the reuben or the corned beef sandwich, I always get the large size, and always end up eating the whole damn thing and feel gross afterwards. Not the the fault of the sandwich or Star Bagel, I just can't stop eating delicious warm corned beef, even if my wife is in my ear nagging me to stop. So, do yourself a favor, listen to my wife and stop at half if you order a large sammich. They also have a bunch of vegetarian options too, if that is what floats your boat. The fruit tea is also quite tasty and has free refills and the coffee is excellent. Service is pretty good, they get people in and out fast, seating can sometimes be an issue, especially in the colder months when you can't use their outside seating. Parking is a beast, too. You basically have to back out into three semi-busy roads and it is limited to start off. Good place for a nosh.

I like Star Bagel! They had some really tasty flavored coffee last time I was there. It was hazelnut something. Their bagel breakfast sandwiches are typical bagel sandwiches. Better than Bongo Java but not a total standout. Either way they are satisfying, when you are hungover and when you're not. Each time I have gone the service has been quick and accurate so no complaints there. If I lived in the area I would be here regularly. The other major plus is it's right across from the Greenway, such an awesome location!

Who can resist a bagel and smear? Not this guy. I love a good everything bagel, cream cheese, lox and capers. It really is one of my favorite breakfast items. So, I was excited when my girlfriend and I discovered Star Bagel. What makes this place even better is that its only a mile from where we live. They have all kinds of breakfast noshes. From breakfast sandwiches to homemade cinnamon rolls. Everything I have ever had here has been delicious. Even the coffee is great. My only complaint about Star Bagel is the crowds that gather here on the weekends. If you plan on eating breakfast here anytime after 8AM on Saturday or Sunday, plan on waiting in line to order. Even if you do get your order in, that does not grantee you get a seat. I have been lucky enough to find a place to sit every time I've been, but I have seen people standing up outside eating their breakfasts. And parking can be a nightmare too. but all of these gripes are worth it to get a delicious bagel.

I just wanted to update this again to add a few notes....I stay with the 4 stars. I love Star Bagel. I get the Hazelnut coffee every chance I get. This morning I had a cranberry and walnut muffin to accompany my coffee, and it too was delicious!! I have enjoyed pastries and muffins here previously, but I hadnt tried this particular muffin before. I was delighted. The cranberries taste fresh, the muffin is moist and I ate every bit of it! I have also enjoyed the swirly chocolate muffin in the past, I dont know what its called (sadly) but it is also delicious! If you are on the west side, you just HAVE to stop here and try something.

I was looking for a great bagel with a nice crusty outside and chewy center. Panera is OK but I wanted something more. I read good reviews and thought i'd give Bagel Face a try but they are closed on Mondays...huh?? True story. I found Star Bagel and decided to give it a try. I did not taste anything but the bagels so I can't review the rest of the fare-- I didn't even look at the rest of the menu actually. I am sad to report I was not impressed. I felt they lacked flavor, crusty outside and chewy inside. I tried both the plain and blueberry and both were disappointing. I also tried the honey walnut cream cheese, it had more raisins than walnuts and I was not a fan. My search for a great bagel in Nashville will continue.

The 5 Stars are JUST for the Hazelnut Cinnamon coffee. It's delish. Otherwise I give it a 4 Star rating. The place in general is cute, tucked in Sylvan Park by McCabe's Pub and the golf course. Parking has always been a challenge in their lot - but don't fret. It's doable. When the weather is good, there is a small patio, which is so nice!

I do really like this place, despite the fact that every time I go in and ask for a bagel, the staff invariably look at me like they have never heard of a bagel. They have the best everything bagel around because it really does have everything on it and coupled with the cucumber cream cheese makes a great breakfast. Sometimes I go all out and add smoked salmon. I also like the cinnamon raisin and the cranberry orange bagels and the walnut cream cheese. Star Bagel also makes Scholtzsky's style sandwiches, so it makes a good lunch place too. It's the closest place to me that serves espressos so I often go in for those also. They also have pretty good regular coffee. I like to walk down there on the weekend and sit outside on their patio, which I believe is dog-friendly too.

You know that great place that you always want to go for lunch on the weekend and sit and read the paper for a while? This is that place for me. I used to go just about every Saturday and Sunday for lunch. I usually order the same things over and over, but the menu has something for everyone. I think the bagels are good as are all of the breads for their sandwiches; my favorite is the "smokey turkey" on jalapeno cheddar bread. And the fruit tea is great as well. Casual, nice outdoor seating to watch people driving around Sylvan Park. I'm really glad to have it just down the street from me.

For bagel sandwiches, this is the place to go. I had the Breakfast Bagel on a salt bagel the last time I was there, and it's a salt lover's fantasy. At first I thought it might be too much salt, but it's just right if you salt your eggs because the egg on the bagel isn't salted. I had previously tried it on a sundried tomato bagel, but the salt bagel is the way to go for me. I would have given 4 starts, except the ladies taking orders could be a bit more friendly, but it was still an overall it was a good experience. The sandiwiches were ready quickly, so even if the place is packed, you shouldn't have to wait too long. The menu is available online.

parking is indeed a nightmare. i could survive it if the bagels were made of win and full of awesome. but they weren't. I got a half dozen plain bagels in various flavors to take home. I wanted to see how their bagels stacked up without toppings. They were ok. nothing special. I could get the same quality from a chain place sad to say. they did have a few flavors one wouldn't find at a normal bagel place, but were out of them when i went. if you live in the area, want to support a small business, and don't mind praying to find parking it wouldn't be a bad place, but it really isn't worth going out of the way for.

MOST WONDERFUL SANDWICH SHOP IN NASHVILLE! It is such a quirky quaint sandwhich place, I just love the atmosphere and everything about it! Everything I have eaten here has been wonderful! Today i tried the Starz Classic w/o onions. It was great, but I have to say, my favorites are the Chipotle Chicken, Chicken and roasted red peppers and the Chicken on Foccacia bread. Their Chipotle and Pesto Mayos are off the chain good. ALSO A MUST TRY: the Peanut Butter, Granola, Honey, banana wrap on a whole wheat tortilla. OMG

I had never been introduced to the wonder that is Star Bagel until I moved to West Nashville. It was something I'd pass from time to time but erroneously assumed I wouldn't be interested. I'd describe it somewhat like Panera (they have bagels and meals) but much better and with a family feel. My favorite part is the food. Breakfast: they have a tasty array of bagels from everything, onion, blueberry to egg (which I've yet to try). They have six bagel sandwiches that over some pairing with scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon, turkey sausage, ham and even a spinach and mushroom omelet. My personal favorite is the Egg & Cheese on an Everything Bagel with Cheddar cheese. Then you have regular bagel with spread sandwiches, which include Creme Cheese, Lox, Peanut Butter, Melted Cheese, etc. If you're not in the mood for bagel their Strawberry Granola Wrap is to die for! On to lunch. They have this Pick-A-Pair offering where you get either a bowl of soup, half a salad or half a sandwich for $6.99. When I'm hungry enough for this option I usually get the Black Bean soup with the BLT. It's just enough to fill me up. If I'm in the mood f a lighter lunch option I'll do the soup alone ($3.75) or the small Avocado and Vine Ripe Tomatos. I forgot to mention all the Deli Sandwiches come in either Small or Large and I've never been able to get all the way through the latter. Now, I've never had the coffee, but apparently they do espresso, etc. I'm usually happy with adding $2.25 to my meal and getting Sun Chips and a pop.

Arrive 10am on a Saturday... line out the door! However, the service was very quick and turnover and the tables was quick so we were even able to sit down. I had the basic breakfast bagel... nothing too entirely special, but it was tasty. I would go back again for sure, but it's not going to be a regular stop for me.

Here is my issue. It's a bagel place i know but what the heck is up with the coffee?! I have gone three times and it's dreadful. I just can't see a bagel place having crappy coffee. I have never gone during the rush so maybe it's good then but I have stopped in plenty in the afternoon and I am always underwhelmed. For one thing, while i am on my coffee rant, they don't have real cream or milk? they offer non dairy creamer... bleck!!! Secondly, it taste like it's sat there all day. If you are going to charge me $2 for a crappy cup of coffee at least spring for some real dairy product and turbinago to repair it with. I have never ordered the bagels because the staff is so unfriendly that I just quit going after the third bad cup of coffee. Head up Murphy to Portland Brew, they have bagels and their coffee is oh so much better.

This little shop in Sylvan Park was my favorite while living in Nashville. There's not a lot of parking, which can be annoying, and there's almost always a line, but the food and bagels are awesome. They make their own cream cheese which I would dare say is the best cream cheese I've had... EVER. As gross as it may sound, I could eat their lite-strawberry cc spoonfuls at a time. You do not go here for specialty coffees, their drip brews are great though. I love mixing the cinnamon-hazelnut with the dark blend, it's perfection. This isn't a coffee shop for a work day, but a great coffee shop for meeting friends or having a quick meal (unless they are slammed). The staff for the most part is really friendly. I say YES! Go here often and love it.

I am not the type to pan a place, because I can eat canned beans and be satisfied, but this is one place where I have to draw the line. I won't step foot in this place any more. The bagels never approached the flavor and texture of their competitors and others outside of Nashville. Once, they gave me a stale bagel and then didn't want to exchange it for a fresh one when I came back in 5 minutes later. I once saw the manager tell a patron something that could be considered an ethnic slur, and that was the last straw. They lost my business forever. I now go across the street to Goldie's Deli.
Star Bagel is pretty much self explanatory: a cute bagel shop in a cute area. For breakfast you have the option of many different combinations of egg & omelet bagels, and for lunch the usual bagel sandwich, or perhaps a hot deli sandwich, pizza bagel, wrap, or salad. To drink: coffee if you are in mood, juice or soda if your not. They also have a fun variety of cream cheeses: plain (of course), strawberry, spicy cucumber, veggie, honey walnut raisin, herb, scallion, olive pimento, or lox. For some reason most of the cream cheese options say that they are 'lite', but how light can cream cheese really be? Being a boring bagel shop patron, I stick the sun dried tomato bagel laddered with 'lite' cucumber cream cheese.

Had a sun dried tomato bagel. With cream cheese. Tastes like pizza. In love....with the bagel.

When you're looking for a quick sandwiches, Star Bagel is in the upper echelon of delis/bakeries in town. Each time I go I pessimistically assume it will fall short in some way but it never does. The sandwiches are fresh, hot (if appropriate), and reasonably priced. Couple all that with the fact that Star Bagel is located in a authentic and accessible part of town -- and you realize why it ranks in the top three sandwich/bagel/bakery shops in the greater Nashville area. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed.

It gives you wings. We like to call it steroid bagel, usually hung over/boarder line still drunk when we go there---great place to recall events from the night before, and can ALWAYS count on good food. Food is so good it energizes us.

Bagels have really unique flavor. Will definitely say that, however egg sandwiches are sub par. I really don't like microwave patty style eggs, thats what fast food is for!

Nice vibe, tasty treats and decent coffee. Excellent location.
(5)Sarah C.
(4)Ryan J.
It was ok. Great location. Super kind staff. Good food, fair bagels.
(3)Carly R.
The salmon bagel here was the BEST!! Really the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. The customer service was wonderful and I loved my experience here! I took bagels home too and they were delicious. I recommend everyone to come here!
(5)Taylor N.

(4)Justin J.
Great bagels, coffee and fresh juice. They have a broad selection of bagels with even more options for "fillings". Try the green eggs and ham. Which was amazing!!
(4)Sophia A.

(4)Jenni E.
(4)Kina L.
(5)Sarah A.
(3)Alvin P.

(4)Tyler U.
(4)Lauren B.
(5)Jessica M.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place and the juice bar. Sandwiches are amazing as is the coffee. My only complaint is that it's not open after 6 PM - I could eat breakfast, lunch AND DINNER here!
(5)Danny N.
I have a love for bagels and hear their ads on radio all the time which initially brought me in. I always do the nova lox bagel. The quality of food and friendly staff is work coming back for.
(4)Aaron F.
(5)Jason B.
(2)Corey W.
(3)Julia A.
(4)Robert K.
(4)Brooke M.
(2)molly h.
(3)Tart L.
Goldies across the street feels more authentic to me for the New York bagel vibe. The coffeeehouse down the street near West End Ave. has wifi and this does not. They do indeed have great bagels.
(5)Rocco H.
Awesome bagels and fruit smoothies. Can't wait to visit again next time I'm in Nashville.
(4)Alex P.
Their pesto chicken sandwich is so delicious! Star Bagel cafe emphasizes that the chicken is antibiotic free. And it was reasonably priced.
(4)Erin Y.
(2)Lucas L.
(5)Chris S.
Star bagel is fantastic. The food is awesome and the staff is friendly. In my opinion they have they best drip coffee in town. The new smoothie bar is a little pricey but everything is fresh and delicious. A must try.
(5)Melissa B.
(5)Aaron S.
(4)Sheena T.
(5)Sir Funky P.
Good bagels. Really good bagels. Just wish they had a jalapeño or green chile cream cheese. Doesn't make any sense that a bagel joint doesn't have a jalapeño cream cheese - they go hand in hand. Their lox makes up for it though.
(4)Stefanie P.
(3)Danielle G.
(5)Pete D.
(4)Rachel M.
I'm in love. His (her?) name is Turkey Fresco Bagelwich, and he (she?) is absolutely delicious. Turkey, cucumber spread, cucumbers, tomatoes, and red onions between the two ends of a toasted plain bagel make up this sandwich. We had such a good first date that I went back the very next day for lunch. As if the sandwich (excuse me, bagelwich) wasn't perfect enough on its own, I discovered fruit tea when I sauntered over to get my drink. It was the perfect escape from work, and it only set me back $7.41. Star Bagel Café, you are well on your way to getting 5 stars from me. I'll have to see if I have it in me to stray from my already beloved bagelwich...
(4)Abby H.
(5)Tyler R.
After hearing the ad for this place on Lightning 100 a dozen times I decided a breakfast date with my fiancé was needed. The atmosphere is unique and the food definitely did not disappoint. I got the California Bagel Breakfast sandwich and was quite satisfied. My fiancé got the peanut butter and yogurt wrap and to my surprise actually really enjoyed it. The only downside was the Iced Coffee. I would consider myself an iced coffee fiend and this was a bad attempt at a decent iced coffee. Other than that, this was great place to enjoy a locally owned and organic meal.
(4)Alejandra Y.
(5)Cherepaha B.
(5)Jennifer M.
(2)Bridgette C.

(4)Jason M.

(5)John W.
(5)Shellie M.
Fruit Tea, Yogurt granola, salads, etc. everything I have had here is great! Parking is the biggest issue, we often want something delish after a run but cannot bring a group to this place due to lack of parking. It's really too bad because I truly enjoy this little gem!
(4)Michelle H.
Star Bagel is the best bagel in Nashville. If you're a skeptic, try the challah bagel with honey cinnamon butter. You'll never go anywhere else.
(5)Meghan E.
Excellent place, they have really stepped up in regards to being the West Nashville natural food deli, I really appreciate their commitment to quality. The food is also delicious, with traditional and more experimental sandwiches. My only complaint.... whats up with the no wi fi?
(4)Sarah M.

(4)Diana S.
(4)Jeff B.
Came Sunday morning and it was REALLY busy. The fruit tea was great, coffee was decent. I had the Denver omelet sandwich on a crescent. It was just okay, probably wouldn't get it again. Wish they had WiFi.
(3)Mina K.

(4)Cory C.
(4)Danielle T.
(4)Lisa B.

(5)Rebecca M.
I really like this place. It has a good atmosphere and the prices are great. I adore their bagel sandwiches. I often forget about it because it is in a corner of town that I dont often visit, but when I do, I am always pleasantly surprised.
(4)Kasey A.
Fantastic! A favorite spot to hit whenever we're in Nashville. Delicious, chewy bagels and excellent and friendly customer service.
(5)Janet Y.

Cheese bagel. 'nuff said

Urgent update: Just consumed the best and most memorable brownie of my entire life. Moist, delicious, and topped with a dollop of cream cheese, the black bottom brownie is NOT to be missed.
(4)Michael W.

Hubby picked up bagles this morning to bring home for breakfast. They were still were warm! A little crunch on the outside and chewy on the inside is perfection to me!

(5)Pasquale L.
I like it! Good bagels great coffee and nice hospitality.
(5)Courtney A.
Such a cute place and such amazing food/coffee! The Austin and California bagels are my go-to's. They are always friendly and fast. Dirty Chai drink and Iced Mocha are great!
(5)Chad B.
They make a really good bagel! Their location is very convenient and they're pretty fast!
(4)Sutasinee T.
This is the best breakfast place in Nashville, TN. They got the best coffee in town. We come here every weekend.
(5)Laura P.
(2)Sean J.
They have really great sandwiches and coffee. The parking and inside can be a little crowded, but the people are always really nice.
(5)Ryan S.
Great bagel place. Check it out! Try a Snowcap (iced espresso drink)!
(4)Saxby W.
My boyfriend and I have been going to Star Bagel once a week for nearly four years now. It's seriously the best place - fantastic bagels, fantastic people, and I love the fruit tea. What more can I say.
(5)Emily M.
(2)Sarah S.
(3)Dominique B.
(5)Stacy T.
Love love love! Friendly staff, delicious coffee, great bagels. You can't beat the outdoor space on a nice day, either. Try the strawberry fields salad.
(4)Lyndi S.
(4)Liz D.
(5)Jemina B.
'Nuff said!
(4)Jason S.
(4)Kristin Marie S.
(4)Justin R.
(4)Tami P.
I love Star Bagel! I usually get the Tour DE Veggie wrap & the soup of the day - perfect for lunch! Always friendly & fast service and wonderful location!
(4)Jenn Z.

This is the best bagel in Nashville, always has been...not much debate to be had on this topic

Really good place for lunch, sandwiches are great and soups are really good. Cozy little place with a good atmosphere. Definitely going to be a regular stop for me!!

It's the little things at Star Bagel that make it kind of a sub-par bagel shop. The bagels are good enough, they aren't going to change you're life but they're tasty. The problem is that Star seems to put cost cutting before quality by skimping on the little things that make a café great for the customer. Let me first say that I don't eat fast food or most processed foods, so the tastes are foreign to me and unwelcome. The folks here seem to have borrowed a lot from the fast food industry: the use of faux creamer, gummy pre-formed scrambled eggs. I could deal with all this if they had free wireless, but here, too, the customer is out of luck. Pros: pretty tasty bagels, hot coffee, location Cons: no wifi, nasty eggs

Best bagels/sandwiches/wraps in town. no joke

It gives you wings. We like to call it steroid bagel, usually hung over/boarder line still drunk when we go there---great place to recall events from the night before, and can ALWAYS count on good food. Food is so good it energizes us.
