I love this restaurant. As per Nashville requirement, the live music is generally on point. With the cool upstairs deck open to the main part of the second floor, it definitely has a unique feel. I've been here several times now and have always had great service, even during night ha when it's packed. As far as food goes, for the appetizer, the pulled pork nachos are a must! They've got a unique flavor but they're unexpectedly amazing! Next time, I plan to try their pork sandwich. For the main course I've always gone with pizza. Cheeseburger is amazing. The CCR was good, but not as much as others I've tried. Whatever type of cheese they use, I think it's the best in town! The sandwiches are moderately priced (10-15) and the pizzas are a bit pricey for the larger sizes, but the smaller ones are reasonable (10/15 or 20-27 for larger). I haven't tried any cocktails yet but I've heard good things. The beer was cold, with a good selection of domestics and crafts. Average pricing there. I recommend Soulshine when friends visit.

Ok, I am a fan of... Soulshine's Bushwhacker. It is the BEST Bushwhacker I've ever had. There's some kind of coconut flavor in there - I'm not sure if it's canned coconut milk, or coconut "beverage" like you can get in a carton. But the concoction of flavors in Soulshine's Bushwhacker are unlike that I've had in a Bushwacker anywhere else - nationally. It's chocolatey, ice cream-y, coconutty, and YUMMY. It apparently can only be served in a small glass because of its alcohol content - I dunno, after two I wasn't feeling super buzzed. (Maybe because I also ate??) But run don't walk to have this drink at Soulshine now, it is WORTH IT.

Now that's some good pizza!! And super friendly staff as well! Visiting a friend over the weekend and she took us to Soul Shine. The 2 outside patios are great...especially the upper deck with the live music playing. How fun. I tried the Greek pizza and added pepperoni and mushrooms because I'm a supreme freak. It hit the spot. The 8' is the perfect personal size and for under $10? Yes please. Nice atmosphere. I liked how open it is. And the pizza was really delicious.

My older daughter had been telling me about SoulShine and today I had an opportunity to try it. We had "The Kitchen Sink" pizza and it was very good. The ingredients were fresh, the service was timely, and our server was wonderful!!! My younger daughter had the hot wings (mild) and the pepperoni bread and she really enjoyed it. I can definitely say I'll be going back. Oh, and we heard some great music coming from upstairs.

Great pizza, and even better music. Came here on a Saturday night during a bachelor trip to Nashville, I would return every trip through the area. Saturday night was a blast here.

Always Nice To Find Pizza After Midnight! SITREP This is a great spot to come to after a long evening of having dinner (Sycamore Nashville), getting cocktails at more fancy establishments (Aura), dealing with more dive bar locations (Red Patio Saloon), and then decompress on beer, soda and pizza. THE SETUP Located in Midtown Nashville (not to be confused with Midtown Sacramento, where I live), the Soulshine Pizza Factory has a great late night menu, and is reminiscent both at once of a Sports Bar, Music Venue and a Gourmet Pizza Spot. We hung out on the 2nd level deck, and patio bar area. WORLD MUSIC There was a great band playing when we arrived that way laying down some nice funky Jamaican beats, and expanding into a world music vibe with their music selections. To be honest, I didn't recognize any of the tunes they were playing, but it was all upbeat and good to dance to. GIANT FAN! Oh my god. On this large patio deck where the band was playing, is this massive overhead / over-sized fan - it must have been about 30-35 feet in diameter (kinda taking the wind out of the sales of my much smaller by comparison, three 5-foot fans I have in my home). It certainly was impressive THE PIZZA Excellent personal pan style pizza - it seemed enough for 2 gals at our table to be sharing, and one was enough for me. The Jacksonian had chicken, tomatoes and green onion. The Mississippian had BBQ chicken. They were total yum. THE LOWDOWN Soulshine Pizza Factory is a great stop to chill after a long night of fun when you need something to eat and want to catch a chill vibe with a band, refreshing drinks and great conversation.

I declare Soulshine as having the best bread pudding in Nashville. This after I have dedicated myself to finding all contenders. The optional vanilla ice cream is unnecessary since the bread pudding is so wonderful and the vanilla flavor is underwhelming. It is cold, bland, sweet stuff.

They have a large upstairs area for night life on the weekends. I didn't order any of their pizza, but I had a drink. The drinks seemed to be a bit pricier than other nearby bars. They also had a band, but it was pretty typical bar band music. This place seems alright for any one young or older.

Good pizza and the service was fine considering how busy they were. Absolutely heavenly to sit outside on a warm spring evening and enjoy pizza and beer. Love the music offerings too. The only bummer is the whole noisy crowded thing but hey, you know that going in. We'll be back!

So I came back... I liked my 2nd time much better. The food was rather well balanced (not the salty well like last time). Now that I figured out the parking situation, I found this place rather convenient.

Saturday, August I 2nd, I worked all day and decided I want to have dinner at an Awesome restaurant and have some great pizza..so I decided on Soulshine....I have never had my daughter here before and I wanted her to have some great food and check out a great building...I love how they remodeled this restaurant..it is an old warehouse style building that has been remodeled and revamped... I LOVE THE BUILDING.. I LOVE THE DECOR.... I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT... We got there about 7ish..and we were able to park in their lot. I love the fact that they have a private parking lot in an area near Vandy where it is hard to park anywhere...lol!!! The place was SO NOISY..but hey its Saturday night and you are in a college area..so YES expect the noise..if you don't want noise...stay home !!!! ((( lol)))) Our waitress I believe was Anita, I really couldn't hear her name very well. I opted to sit upstairs where it seemed to be a little more noiser by the way, but I love that staircase ...so you want to climb them... We sat ourselves at a high top table for four...We were greeted immediately and gave our drink order..Tony took a PBR, Noel iced tea and myself..Coca Cola...tall and cold please !!!! and keep them coming..!!! Noel decided on the 8 inch small Shrimp Alfredo and Tony and I opted to share a medium "The Jacksonian" which is a chicken with Alfredo sauce ...so soo sooo good. I had to try Noel's choice also...it was good as well but I am not a sun dried tomato fan...and that ingredient was on hers... We had a wonderful dinner. Their was sports on all the tvs..the band never played while we were there...I loved this dining experience..we had a nice dinner..

Didn't eat here but the small pizzas walking by looked tasty. We went upstairs to check out some live music on a Saturday night. The place wasn't packed so you could actually sit down and hang out enjoying the band. The bands everywhere we went were pretty good but band last Sat was a cut above. What we all really loved was our bartender Tiffany. She kept the drinks coming, was very nice to talk to, and even offered us a free pizza that came out as a mistake. We had just had an amazing and very large dinner just before arriving so we passed but it's the thought that counts. Thanks Tiffany!

Food...not good. So the best thing about Soul Shine Pizza is the venue. They have a nice upstairs patio. The band was pretty decent and it's a good place to listen to some music and visit with friends. They have a good bar selection, but the food was pretty bad. We were there for a party and so they brought out a bunch of stuff...a couple of different pizzas, nachos, breadsticks and chicken wings. The chicken wings and buffalo chicken pizza were ok. For the most part, the pizza was awful. No flavor and greasy, which is a bad combo. Maybe I would repeat Soul Shine Pizza just for a hang out spot. But I definitely wouldn't bother with the pizza. I have 2 GF quotes from this outing: "Best thing here is the diet coke" "Not worth the calories"

Great atmosphere. I tried the Apollo Po Boy and it was great. Fast and friendly service. Great artwork and music instruments on the wall. Good value for the money. Definitely will be back here soon.

Edit: I'm changing from 2 stars to 1 star. I submitted a review on Facebook and the owners went on and replied with a snide comment instead if the standard 'we are sorry you had a bad experience. We will take your review in to consideration to improve, please have a pizza on us' but no. Edit No. 2: (15/7/2014) Through the social media grapevine, another person had a bad experience and took to their Facebook page and wrote the review. What followed was a social media meltdown à la Amy's Baking Company. Accusations flying and bite back from the company. Truly an unraveling of any good word of mouth they had. If I could give zero stars I would. The review: I've been here three times First time I enjoyed it. Loved the mufalatta. Second time: different story. I ordered a pizza since it's actually called soulshine pizza. Bad mistake. Pizza was wet, the crust was undone. I was in a party of ten. Everyone said the place sucked. I asked for extra fresh minced garlic. On the pizza was whole garlic cloves that were cooked with the pizza. One, not fresh. Two not minced. Ugh. Couldn't stomach the bullshit aspiring country artist playing upstairs. I know this is midtown but no one likes that shit. Just please stop. Third time I tried the carnivore. The pizza was at least better. The music was better too. It was a band playing old jazz tunes. Service was good and the waitstaff have always gotten 25% from me despite the error on the second visit. One star for: Being extra douchey in replying on Facebook. Go look it up yourself if you are so inclined. Unless they delete their comment. Their slogan is something idiotic like 'born in the dirty south' these fools have dirty manners to go along with it. They also get knocked down a bunch of pegs because of the huge 10 x 6 painting of the lead singer of Nicklelback at the entrance.

Soulshine is a fantastic pizza stop in Midtown, just near Vanderbilt's campus. The place always seems to be busy, they have a ton of pizza options, and lots of great beer available. Wait service could be improved, but overall it's a great go-to for non-chain pizza. Plus, they're open way late! They often have great live music, and I love the two-story setup. Definitely would recommend.

Zoë was courteous and on fleek. She knows how to pour a drink. And picks your jacket off the ground. Marinara vats to dip your cheesy sorrows in. And beer to pick up your spirits. Soulshine, you get the coolinary cheers for service and food!

Seems to have good specials. I came at 10pm and live music had stopped. I was a little bummed about that. Had the five cheese pizza and it was good! Not chicago pizza, though . Overall, worth a stop.

We stopped for pizza but ordered wings and Po boys instead. The wings with the dry jerk seasoning were amazing..very moist and juicy. The sandwiches were quite good as well..we ordered the half as we weren't very hungry..r hey were small but good. We will definately come back..good food..good music and good prices.

Soulshine Pizza is a great place to catch live music, have a quality beer, and eat some of the best pizza in Nashville! Soulshine sponsored my softball league through Nashville Sports Leagues. My team lost in the championship game, but got a $50 gift card to use. After getting stiffed on league fees by a couple of players, I had no qualms about taking the my wife to dinner with them. Ha... We arrived and drove around the parking lot a couple of times to find a spot. This is the only negative experience of the night. The parking is tight. They do valet, but I think it's $5 to go that route. When we walked up, the band was going and we were seated downstairs. The band was upstairs. That wasn't a bad way to go as we could still hear them and the tv monitors showed them if you wanted to watch. We could also talk without yelling at each other. We both ordered the crawfish soup and it was excellent--very creamy, but not too spicy. My wife and I then split a medium pizza. Half was the 5-cheese and half was the Don Vito. They are cool about doing that if the base sauce is the same. The Don Vito is fantastic and I'd highly recommend it. The pizza and crust are really well done--definitely one of the best pies in Nashville. The beer list wasn't great, but they get high marks for including local brewers. Yazoo, Blackstone, Fat Bottom, and Jackalope were all on the beer menu. I tried the Jackalope Red Rompo for the first time last night. It was very good. I'd like to see a few more craft selections, but it's still very cool that they provide such a wide variety of local stuff. Soulshine Pizza is excellent. The pizza is great and the restaurant provides and awesome environment to enjoy yourself.

Our first stop in Nashville after a long travel day. Super friendly staff, cool artwork, great music and great food. The cheese and garlic breadsticks were great - huge portion. I had a Wild Bill pizza - grilled chicken, garlic ranch, mozzarella, and wing sauce. It was spicy and awesome. My wife liked it better than her pizza, which was also really good as well. She had The Mississippian bbq sauce, grilled chicken, sun dried tomatoes, and pepper jack cheese. Super tasty food - a great welcome for us!!

This was my first time at Soulshine. I really liked the décor. We sat on the first floor but could still hear the music upstairs. Our pizza was good, thin crust. We order one large sundried tomato pie and one pepperoni. There seemed to be a lot of interesting combinations of toppings on the menu. The pizza wasn't what I was used (because of the crust) but I still enjoyed it. The service was fast and we even got a very dessert for our friends' birthday!

The carnivore pizza was amazing! It was fresh out and hot. The facility was very clean and the staff was incredibly friendly. We also had the cheese and garlic bread it was very yummy. Hubby got a Sweetwater Blue beer he enjoyed very much, mentioned it was very smooth.

The food is amazing! Service was great. We had the tomato basil pizza and it was amazing. They clearly pay attention to the quality of their ingredients. The mozzarella was fresh, the crust was crisp and fresh, and the pesto was amazing. We had a very large party and had some late additions to our table and they just helped us pull up another table without another thought! Thank you for the great food and for letting us expand our table!

Everyone knows my love for pizza, so of course I had to give Soulshine a try. In fact, I was even excited! Their menu looked great online. So maybe it was my subconscious fear that I might ACTUALLY like a place in Midtown that ruined it... but really, it wasn't. My friend and I ordered a wheat crust pizza and before any one of you say, "That's where you went wrong! Get the regular crust next time," I'm going to stop you right there and point my finger to Mellow Mushroom and their delicious wheat option. It can be done well. After a couple of bites of my slice, the toppings and cheese slid off and I was left with seeing gray crust. Is that normal? There went my appetite that was already disappointed. You'd have to really convince to try Soulshine again. On one hand, I did go within weeks of their opening, but then again... it's a chain. They've established their recipes. So no, thanks. Vandy and Belmont kids can have their pizza.

The pizza was good, but overpriced. The service was really good. They'll charge you for extra anything (I saw a review on yelp that they charged someone for ice!) but the pizza was good. The 8 inch pizza is pretty small to be a meal, we ordered salads and they were $4 and $4.50 each!! For side salads! we originally chose this place because it advertised live music and the music didn't start until 9...and the waitress couldn't tell us anything about the band that was starting. They do have a nice selection of beers on tap (local beers!) which was nice. Ultimately the environment and the service and the food was good. It was highly overpriced though which makes me not want to go back. That's really where the stars are lost. And the charges for extras.

So excited that spring is around the corner! I love their upstairs patio on sunny afternoons with a group of friends, pitchers of beer, and a few different pizzas. It's the perfect afternoon setup! Get the Wild Bill and you will not be disappointed!

Great pizza. Live music. A good place to hang out. Casual and cool. Good beer on draught. Only been on week nights or Sunday night and never had to wait for a table and service is good. Try the cream of crawfish soup. It's delicious and I get a cup every time I go! The menu is diverse. They have some good specialty pizzas, and I always have trouble deciding what to order. You can build your own, or get it in calzone. They have at least four base sauces (red, alfredo, pesto, and garlic ranch) which is great. Crust is fairly thin and good as well.

This is a medium to partly cloudy review. We came to see a friend's band (THE TRAILS!). Got there around 8pm and made our way upstairs to the heated covered patio. We've been to Mafiaosa's heated covered patio before and froze our balls off, so I came dressed to ski. Didn't need it - the temp was perfect. Go teach Mafiaoza's how to heat a patio, please. Anyway, the downstairs looks very nice, and the atmosphere upstairs is very casual and laid back - so laid back that the upstairs is first come first served. Not a freakin fan of stalking people while they eat, along with 20 other stalkers. That was a 30 minute ordeal, along with semi-confrontations of the "Hey! I stalked this table before you stalked this table!" and "Are you REALLY using those two chairs?" variety. The pizza is average. Anyone who says anything like "this is the best pizza I ever had!" is either drunk, 18 years old, or friends of the owners. We also had hummus that was...pinker than expected, but tasted fine, and cheese/garlic bread that was good. Local beers on tap, prices above average for pizza joints but average for the Midtown area. There is valet thank goodness, but they charge $5 if you have the restaurant validate ($15 if you abuse them and go elsewhere). I'm not meaning to complain about this, just to let you know. To sum it up: Come for the atmosphere, the drinks and the music! Don't get too excited about the food though. Nothing overly creative or delicious going on here.

I liked this spot. My pizza and salad were good. Our waitress remained cool and attentive even though it was clear she either had a lot of tables and/or rough day. The outside area is pretty chill. Would go again.

Stopped in for a small bite of lunch, and to watch a little basketball. Had a cup of the cream of crawfish soup, and cheese stix. The soup was very good. The cheese stix were good too. They use there pizza dough, bake it with garlic and cheese on top. The crust is nice and crispy, and goes well with the marinara given. Would have given 5 stars if I would had ordered an "entree" type item, and found it as good. Can't wait to come back and do so. Too, Taylor the bartender was very nice and personable, and very good service.

I feel bad bashing this place because of a band member that was out of line. This place had great service, great food and a fun atmosphere! I would go back in a second and recommend it to friends visiting town. I even tipped our waiter extra because he was great with our huge party. Thank you Justin for getting back to me about our bad situation - appreciate it!!

We noticed the "Now Open" banner hanging off the side of the building yesterday, and decided to stop by for a quick bite. We arrived around 4 pm. First, this is a nice space. The downstairs bar area is modern, classy and welcoming. A huge ceiling fan spins in the center of a black painted ceiling like a giant cosmic spider. Artwork features 60s and 70s musicians - and Redd Foxx? The facade is brick and glass, very cool. Upstairs, another bar, and a stage. While we were there a band was doing sound check, not sure the name of the band - but they clearly knew how to rock. The hostess told us that the rooftop balcony would be opening soon - when it does we can easily see how Soulshine will become the "in" spot to hang in the midtown district. We were seated in a booth downstairs. Another musician (keyboard) had set up downstairs and was singing the blues - very well I might add. Our waiter was quick, friendly and efficient. We ordered the pulled-pig nachos and two personal pizzas. The nachos were very good - fresh ingredients, and the half order was sized right to be split as an appetizer - and they came quick. The pizzas came quick too, one was good, the other suffered from a very dry chicken topping. About the pizza, if you have ever eaten at the Memphis Pizza Cafe, then you have eaten similar pizza. For those who haven't - the crust is almost "biscuit" like in texture, and the toppings are fresh and liberally applied. Overall very good - but not "traditional" NY style pizza. I had the Milano [very good] she had the Bob Marley [good but for the overly dry chicken]. Overall, we could hardly believe that this was Soulshine's second day of business - hat's off to the management and staff (hey Aura, you guys need to send your staff over to Soulshine for some training!) My only suggestion relates to my pet-peeve - shoddy flatware. My fork came to me MANGLED, and hers wasn't much better. This made eating our otherwise delicious cheesecake dessert a chore. We will be back.

I had a really great experience here on my birthday, so I must give Soulshine an updated review. We had a very large group come in with multiple tickets and drinks on a Friday night and wanted to hear the Lightening 100 show that they put on every week in the upstairs patio area. I didn't even call in and request a large table or reservation, we just all showed up to hang out at 5:00. I was hoping to have a good happy hour, but they only had 2 for 1 Sweetwater beers until 6pm. Damnit! Give us some more options and a longer happy hour! But I digress, I sipped on greyhounds all night and they were tasty. Most of us ordered food, and I was very happy with the Sante Fe pizza. It was much better than the mushroom pizza I had on my first visit, and the jalapenos were spicy and awesome! I also heard good reviews of the nachos, though I didn't have an opportunity to try them. What really made my experience leaps and bounds better from my first visit was our incredible waiter Ryan. He not only kept a LARGE party satisfied with drinks and food, he somehow got all of our tickets correct at the end of the night. No one missed a beer or had the wrong pizza order on their tab. And he didn't even write anything down. Dude, that's skill. Plus he was working the patio area with multiple other tables too. I honestly don't know how he did it. Not bad Soulshine. I can see myself here on a nice Friday night to enjoy another Lightening 100 show. I just hope I have Ryan as my waiter.

The food was meh. I ordered a calzone, my friends ordered pizza, soup, salad, & the red beans/rice. All of it was below average. I don't know how, but even the Coke was bad. We waited for 40 minutes to get our food, which was cold. It was pretty busy and our waitress wasn't rude but she pretty much ignored us the whole time. The check also took forever to get. Incredibly loud, impossible to hear or talk (and that was before the live band came on). They had free WiFi, which was nice (legitimately the only reason I survived this awful institution). Takeaway: Don't go at night. Or on the weekends. Or at all.

  • Daisy 2.

Good pizza -- nice outdoor space. Gets really loud, unfortunately. And, I really really wish they had a decent option for some wine. Everything in mid-town other than The Tavern -- is a bar. Soulshine has some class to it -- and it would be really great for us to enjoy a nice glass of wine too -- instead of beer.

This is my favorite pizza place in Nashville. The atmosphere is fun and I especially love the upstairs patio when it's warmer. It's a great place to bring my friends and family when they come to visit me here in Nashville. The parking sucks, but luckily I live close enough to walk. If you're driving, try to snag a spot on 19th Ave S or you can valet park. The whole wheat crust is delicious and I've never been disappointed by the pizza at Soulshine. They also have a couple different plates of nachos to chose from and they used to be SO good! I mean, I would come here just for nachos because they were that good. However, my heart is broken because the last two times I've been to Soulshine the chips have been different, and not in a good way. They used to be thick and freshly made chips that almost were like a pita chip/tortilla combination sent down from heaven. Seriously, I lived for these chips. However, they have started to use just regular old blue corn tortilla chips that I could purchase myself at any Kroger. So disappointing!! I'd give Soulshine a five star review if they hadn't changed their nacho chips. Please bring back the old chips! I miss them!!

It's ok. I've been here 4 times. Twice upstairs with live music, at night, and twice during the day for lunch. The night experiences were good. The day- not so much. The pizza is fine. The beer is cold. This last time, we spent $60 for four beers, two small pizzas and a nasty tamale appetizer. Worth it? Not to me.

I had their pizza. I expected in ordering a large I would be taking some home. I expected wrong, and not just because I'm a fat pig (although that might help). The veggie pizza was... kind of sad. It was thin without the great NY thin-style feel. The veggie toppings had little taste. The whole pie was large, but devoid of weight. I felt sad to be eating that pizza. The bar, I had three bartenders in two drinks. I also waited several minutes for the bartender who was talking to the other bartender to notice their one customer (me) was in need of a beverage. Nothing was horrible, but nothing was great. It felt like one of those pizza joints that pops up in the strip mall that's located right next to the real mall and is run by some people who like pizza but never made a garlic knot in their life and had the idea that owning a pizza joint would be fun having never worked a day in one. Sounds harsh, but it was generic pizza and premium prices. The location is good and they've got nonstop advertising on Lightning 100, so I expect they'll do fine. I hope they get their pizza thicker, tastier, and wish them all the best. For that area I'd wander over to Mellow Mushroom, the Chicago style place four blocks away, or the joint across from Off Broadway that I can't remember the name of but man their pizza is excellent.

I have had many average pizzas in my life, and I have had (unfortunately much fewer) great pizzas. One of pizza's greatest attributes is that even average pizza tastes great. Even a place like Dominoes is generally an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, to say that Soulshine's pizza is average would be an overstatement. I am a huge fan of thin crust pizzas, but with the use of thin crust comes the expectation of more delicate treatment. It was as if they were following directions on how to roast a turkey...it had clearly been in the oven about twice as long as it should have been. Both the white and wheat crusts had the consistency of matzo. The sauce and ingredients were also really bland. The carnivore pizza was seemingly devoid of Italian sausage but ran amok with rubbery pepperoni and Canadian bacon. I was excited about the Magic Mushroom, but the mushrooms were really gritty and, of course, had any resemblance of life cooked the hell out of them. Service was decent, I suppose, but this was pretty lousy. I hope for the establishment's sake it was an off night.

I've been to Soulshine twice and enjoyed it both times. I went for Friday happy hours both times and thought the food and atmosphere was great. Happy hour is awesome with 2 for 1 beers. The pizza was really good too. I had the Carnivore and Johnny's Garden pizzas last time. The carnivore was all meat and I like this one more, but had to throw in the veggie pizza too. Both were great and I look forward to trying another pie next time. The atmosphere is young and exciting. There was live music both times that I went and a lot of college students being so close to the campus. I would go back and recommend Soulshine for anyone who likes pizza, beer and live music.

I'll start with I waited two hours because the incompetent host staff gave my table away twice. A group and I went here on a Saturday. I expected a wait, as they weren't taking reservations. I called ahead that day at 1:00 pm to see what I needed to do. They said call back closer to dinner and we should be fine to get seated. I call back and now it's an iffy chance. I expected that but the hostess was straight with me and said it was worth a shot. Okay. My party arrives at an appropriate time and the hostess stand has our name first on the list. Things are looking good! We see that the party at where we will be seated is getting their checks, so we tell the host and hostess we are going to get a drink upstairs and they said they would call us in like 10 minutes. Awesome! Half an hour goes by, so I go to check on our table. The hostess with an attitude says, "I gave away your table. You were at the bar, I didn't think you would mind." I stared blankly at her. EXCUSE ME. How is that appropriate? I'm frustrated but relent, as I'm having a good time. Another hour goes by and she has given our table away AGAIN. What in the world?! At this point we aren't happy. Unacceptable behavior. The manager had to get involved. This place gets a star because at least Brandon the bartender knew what he was doing.

Oh, Soulshine. I'm a pizza lover, but both experiences I've had with you have been extremely sub-par. For my first visit, I tried "The Mississippian" with a wheat crust. Granted, I knew the wheat crust would leave it it a little.... chewier than most like, but that's a health choice on my part, and I knew that beforehand. Toppings were sparse and unevenly cooked. The cheese was almost nonexistent and the BBQ sauce spread so thin it might as well have been left off. Essentially, I paid $15 for a dry, hard piece of bread. Round two was much better with "The Greek" served as a calzone. This time, sauce and toppings were finally proportionate to the serving, and I there was much more flavor as a result. I also (regrettably) had to temporarily lift my ban on white bread, but I'm sure it was for the best - apparently, Soulshine hasn't worked out how best to prepare wheat crust? I also tried a bite of my friend's pizza (Don Vito, I think?) and it was okay, but not exactly memorable. All said, Soulshine seems like a decent Midtown bar/restaurant that hasn't quite worked out the kinks in the kitchen. They have a pretty cool patio upstairs, but I wouldn't put much faith in their food. Unless a friend REALLY wants to go, I'm opting out.

This was a great first food stop in Nashville! Being the first time I had been to Nashville I was pleasantly surprised. The place was packed to the rook, literally there is seating upstairs on the outdoor roof area. Staff was running around like crazy but were very attentive to our table and never let our drinks run dry. Our table order are large pizza and it was more than enough for 3 people. Will definitely come back!

My girlfriends and I loved this place for the Friday night happy hour with Lightning 100. We plan to come back again! The service, at the height of the Friday rush, was exceptional. Our waiter was attentive, helpful with menu and is drink suggestions, and never made us feel rushed to leave despite the crowd. A++ We tried several pizzas- the Palermo and the Bob Marley were our favorites. The crust is tasty, thin, and available in both white and whole wheat (we liked them both). Several beers were on draft and only $2 during happy hour. The music was loud and a great backdrop for revelry after a busy work week, but be prepared to shout. We loved the games and DJ antics as well, from 5-7- there are many chances to win concert tickets and other prizes. There is a local act that takes the stage at 7pm for a free show, so it's just another wonderful way to find new music. We got there at the magic hour after business traffic was gone, and party goers were not yet out and about, so we were able to find street parking nearby. Given the congestion of Division street, I imagine this isn't always the case, so be forewarned.

Fuck this place. Tried to wait for a dumb outside seating and the dumbfuck fucked us and skipped us on the list for 45 MINUTES!!!!!!!!' When they said it was an only 20 minute wait. Got a parking ticket because of the dumbass who LIED ABOUT CALLING US!!!! Fuck this place. And the people who run this shitty place.

Their pizza is to die for!!! The cheese is melted to perfection and the crust is just the right thickness. Service is always great and the servers are very attentive and friendly. 2 for 1 Mimosas and Bloody Mary's on Sunday. One of the few places in Nashville that actually plays the sound during games. We come here almost every Sunday to watch football. My favorite pizza place in Nashville for sure!!!

Service was 8 of 10 Food was 6 of 10 (had tomato basil and bob Marley pizzas.) Portions versus price was not very good. The atmosphere is the saving grace. Good place to drink if you want to spin the money.

Basically I'm not a fan of anyone screaming. Especially with a voice while screaming that sounds like two cats in heat trying to bone each other. Why am I talking about cats boning each other in a review of Soulshine Pizza? Well, I've avoided the place like the plague because of those commercials they have playing on local radio with the pastor sounding dude screaming about pizza and beer. I love pizza. I love beer.I just don't like being shouted at. So, I was really fighting an inner battle. Some people have battles over doing right and wrong. Me? I have battles over choosing between beer and pizza and a man shouting at me on the radio. As you can see, I lead an important life. But! My parents had been adamant in how I needed to try the place. And, the most important part. They were buying and I'm a cheap b@stard, so why not?! SIDENOTE - I knew it had to be good, because my dad has the temper of a rabid wolverine and snaps on a dime like Randy Macho Man Savage snapping into Slim Jim's... He will stew and steam HOURS after an incident that has set him off and let the smallest things ruin hours of a day. So, when he told me he had went and gotten into a heated argument with my mom and an attendant of a parking lot about the parking for the restaurant and then went into ' but man, I just loved the pizza '. I knew at that point, they must grind up unicorn horns and sprinkle them atop the pizzas, to pull off that kind of magic behavior out of my dad, for him to let an argument go under the table and enjoy his dining experience. pure magic We all decided to go there on a Saturday, my kids and girlfriend in tow... We parked a few streets over and made the trek through alleys and unwalkable walkways. I made an audible groan as we approached the front of the building and saw the national meeting of douchesicles and douchebros all gathered outside in front, celebrating St Patty's Day. My son, who is 15, inquired why I moaned and I told him and he told me to chill. After backhanding him * I kid, I kid * He goes " but why are they all dressed in green for St Patty's Day on a Saturday? Even if you're celebrating it today instead of Monday, there's literally no reason to wear green, noone is going to pinch you and say ' you're not wearing green on St Patty's Day ' , because IT'S NOT ST PATTY'S DAY!!! " I just told him to chill. And that ' logic and reason cannot be brought into the douchebag realm. All that goes out the window if you notice the jeans they wear. what kinda dude wears jeans so tight his balls are being crushed into his scrote? ' He looked at me and laughed and goes ' good point ' ....I must point out he was wearing green neon sunglasses.. Yes, it seems I might be raising a FDA.Future D-Bag of America. But! Not if I can help it. Anyways. We walk inside, it wasn't busy. 3 pm on a Saturday. To be expected. Live music was playing upstairs and I suggested we sit downstairs because A. I don't wanna shout while eating to my kids and parents and B. Girls like musicians, no matter how terrible they are, and I didn't wanna risk or expose my perfect little 12 year old princess to her first taste of this weirdo musical magic that every hack singer and musician seem to posses. I wasn't risking it. It's a nice place on the inside and while not the roomiest dining area, it's adequate. Music paraphernalia on the walls. My dad kept on raving about Joe Cocker and my son just kept snickering going ' COCKer ' I didn't know who had the three beers. My dad or my son. One kept raving about the musical stylings of Joe Cocker - meaning you have to be drunk - and the other was laughing over a little tawdry name humor. Me and the son ordered The Carnivore. We like meat. We're men. We don't wear skinny jeans, we arm wrestle to settle disputes and we don't get manicures and we don't refer to places with names like ' the gulch ' or ' sobro ' and we have chest hair. Hence, why we ordered the meatiest meat pizza. My parents got some Garlic Ranch Chicken pizza and the girlfriend and daughter shared some girly looking pizza with olives and peppers and pepperoni. Vegetables deserve to be on a pizza, if you're eating it in hell. Or a girl... Me and the sons and the parents pizzas were GREAT. I never tried the girls pizza, because Bruce Willis is my hero and he would have just shook his head like a disappointed father if I had dared to eat such a wimpy, girly pizza and call myself a man afterwards. But hey! The girls said they loved it... Plus, Anytime a place has Sweetwater Blue on tap, they instantly become the ' best ' of whatever their specialty is. If there was a place where you could go to get kicked in the groin, but they had sweetwater blue on tap, that place, in my world, would then be referred to as ' The best place ever to get kicked in the groin ' Good Pizza. Good Beer. They even played Rocky Top while I was eating. Utopia? Is that you?

Firstly, I really don't like giving bad reviews because i figure if its open someone must like it. Bad reviews are simply a matter of opinion and good reviews speak louder. However, i just couldn't stop thinking about how horrible this place was and after 3 weeks of stewing on it i just had to write this one. Unless you happen to be from Oxford and feeling nastalgic, this place is a total joke. The fact that they advertise their "Live Music all the time" before their pizza should clue you in. The pizza is the worst Ive ever had(seriously) and we ordered multiple pies as well as sandwiches. All were dry, flavorless and über expensive. $24 on average with close comparison to Little Caesars....which is totally worth $5. Beer was on the high side as well at $5/pt. and to top it all off, they have the audacity to put a tip line for the band on your tab! Up side: Excellent patio. Will not be going back.

Came for the Friday night concert series put on by local favorite indie radio station Lightning 100. On a warm summer night this is a really great thing and very, very popular as evidenced by the hoards of people crowding the upstairs patio. One of the things I love about this place is their support of local music. Check out their concert listing for great stuff. Soulshine has a lot of good things going for it such as this weekly event. It has other good stuff like their beer selection. The food and service? Meh. We had their nachos which aren't made from your traditional corn chips but rather the pizza crust/dough. The toppings were good but I hated the pizza crust. Also, service upstairs on the patio was dismal. It took forever for me to get the bartender to acknowledge. Once outside we never saw our waitress so we went back to the bar to order more drinks (we had been sitting outside for over 30 mins) and at this point our "waitress" finally came over and chided us for not ordering from her after hastily introducing herself. So why am I generously giving 4 stars? I love their support of local music. And the fact that this chain is named after an Allman Brothers song.

Soulshine has become a fantastic place to catch live music or go hang out and grab some drinks and a bite to eat before you head out for the night on Division. They have a fantastic beer selection and their pizza is awesome. My wife and I always opt for the wheat crust pizza :) The Carinvore is always my go to choice. The seating in the balcony upstairs and outside is first come first serve but it is always pretty easy to find a seat at the bar downstairs as well if the wait is a little long. People come and go so typically you do not have to wait for seating too long. Definitely recommend to any local or tourist looking for a place to hang out.

This place has a great atmosphere. The pizza is great! The nachos aren't like nacho chips, they are pita chips, so they are a little chewy, but still good. My friend had the calzone with crawfish. He said there weren't enough crawfish, but it was still good. Overall, it was good. I'll go back!

Not. Good. Insert pizza snob rant here. What else was not good? We ordered the garlic bread. The waitress gave us what appeared to be a cheese pizza cut in strips. When we tried to reconfirm, "this is the $1.99 garlic bread?" She assured us it was. Then our bill arrived and there is it, $8.99 for cheese and garlic bread. THAT WAS NOT WHAT WE ASKED FOR! Oh and she brought us the wrong beer. So it may have been an off night, I get it, I've definitely been there. To continue, this place is not for me. I am not a fan. So who should give Soulshine a chance? I think this place is perfect for families, kids and group outings. The decor isn't bad, the windows out front is pretty darn cool but as I said, not for me.

The pizza is nothing to write home about. Fairly bland with a forgettable sauce that needs seasoning. Crust is blah, and got soggy quickly. Aside from the personal pizza we also got a sandwich. The bread was stale and the meat cold (it was a hot sandwich - or it was billed as such). It seemed like a "glorified" version of something you'd get in a gas station. Beer selection was OK, thought they certainly push cheap beer. As a venue this place is OK. The service is friendly, if not a bit slow and rather clueless as to the menu. Overall I don't think I'd come again, unless the music (that really blares out of the place) was to my liking. Then it would be beer and tunes, and I'd skip the food.

Great service and good pizza. Several choices on the menu. Live music was a plus. Will come back on my next visit to Nashville. I sat upstairs. The band was upstairs. If your not into that you can sit downstairs and hear just enough music for background ambience.

  • Eliza R.

The pizza is mediocre, the "fun and funky" atmosphere feels forced, and the service is meh. I wanted to like Soulshine, and I wanted to give it another chance, but it's not even worth it with number of much better pizza places I. Nashville.

Pretty underwhelming food at high prices. First- we sat ourselves and had to wait about 15 minutes before anyone even came to us with menus or to even talk to us. Then the pizza was eh. But the atmosphere was fun and lively. People seemed to be enjoying themselves. When we finally were served, our server was nice and attentive.

Overall--This place is average. The atmosphere is fun and loved the music and music inspired art. Service was friendly. We went on a Saturday afternoon to watch football with some food and beers. There are about 4-5 large TVs however wouldn't recommend this as a great place to watch a game. Beer list was decent however not up to date with what they had. Our nachos were average--the sandwiches average--and the pizza average. It was nice that you could customize a small 8'' pizza. Overall--average.

Tons of specialty pizzas here. We got the Godfather, which was really good. They also offer wheat crust, which was pretty tasty. I came here because they are offering a deal on Scoutmob for 50% off of your check. Pizzas are priced similarly to MAFIAoZa's and Mellow Mushroom, so specialty pizzas can be a bit steep. Glad I stopped by. Great atmosphere and would be really fun to come to with a group of friends.

I've heard so much great stuff about this place and so I was surprised with how underwhelming it was. Not bad... just, not great. We met friends there for drinks and sat for almost a half hour before being served. Good service after that, though. This place has a great patio, too. But you'll pay for it in the end.... $$$. All in all, an average experience.

If I'm going to eat somewhere that has Pizza in the name, then my first meal there will undoubtedly be pizza, and Soulshine does not disappoint when it comes to the pies! Although the salad was a little lackluster, the Carnivore pie more than made up for any short comings there. There were 3 of us, and we all wanted something different, but that was not an issue. They have a massive collection of gourmet pies with a plethora of ingredients. They have an individual 8" that's more than enough for any normal individual. That's an option I think all pizza places should have! All 3 of us made our selections and were not disappointed with the outcome. GREAT PIZZA! Although someone needs to teach the bartender how to pour a stout, the Guinness was cold and reasonably priced. The service was also very good considering it was a very busy Saturday lunch crowd with a private party filling the entire upstairs. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 stars is that 5 stars represents as good as it gets, and that's not possible with pizza. A better one comes along every day.

I'm totally late writing this review and the only reason I just thought about it is because I'm going here tonight with a friend. Anywhoooo...I visit here some weeks ago by myself, on a night a band was playing. I wasn't promptly greeted when I walked thru the door and whenever I was, the host wasn't too cheerful. I let it pass considering it was a Saturday night and the place was busy. She did inform me that if I didn't want to wait on a table I was welcome to sit at the bar which was A-Ok. Ordered a seafood Calzone and an Angry Orchard beer. Received my food in ample enough time. It was a little burned on the edges but VERY delicious just the same. The cheese and seafood in the calzone was like RIDICULOUS and I mean that in a good way! The bartender(female) was excellent! This place has a cool, hippy, vibe and look to it on the inside. I didn't stay to hear the band but I just may the next time one is playing. So with this being said....yes I'm returning :-)

Great atmosphere. Awesome stage with good music. Affordable food with a good selection of pizzas, sandwiches, and Cajun food. However, I was very disappointed in their limited selection of draft beers. I felt a place of this caliber should have a better microbrew selection!

I like coming here for the drinks & listening to music on the awesome patio.. but the food & service are not so great. I had the Mississippian pizza & tried the Bob Marley as well. Both were meh. I think the crust was the biggest problem, it was pretty soggy. Overall, I would not eat here again but I'll be back to drink on the patio!

  • Lauren S.

Overall: Pizza options a plenty, service is so-so. Food: There is literally a pizza to fit an palate.. and you can get a whole wheat crust. My only problem is a few I've had were pretty bland and I probably could have made a better pie at home. Still, I've been a few times and would probably go back because of the option to get your own personal-sized pizza with whatever toppings you want. Service/Atmosphere: Perhaps it was my fault for expecting to take a big group there on a Saturday night.... but I wasn't impressed. We called earlier in the week, attempting to alert them to the huge group coming (ready to spend $$) and they seemed less than receptive. In the end, the crew was fed and left full and happy but.. it was a little awkward in the process to round up our own tables to push together and steal chairs. If it's nice, eat outside! Great lil patio area. In all honesty, I hope this place lasts! It's a nice addition to the Midtown food scene.

I really enjoy this place. The wait is never too terrible and there is always room at the bar while you wait for a table. On site valet? Yes please! I love not worrying about parking. Valet staff is always courteous and prompt. (ie: these guys haul ass). I enjoy the drinks at Soulshine but I what I love most is their casual atmosphere, live local music and tons of delicious pizza options! I also really really love that they will customize an order. Yes. I'm that girl. Sitting outside on the upstairs (covered) patio is my favorite location. I enjoy Friday nights with Lightening 100 and I have never tasted a pizza that I did not enjoy! The names are clever - and I do enjoy a clever menu - and the flavors are always scrumptious. I go in knowing I will most likely overindulge in cheesy breaded goodness. Also, I really like their logo/the font used for the name. Nutshell: Order the "Sleeps with the Fishes" pizza. Ah.mazing. Definitely go. It's a cool hang.

  • Em S.

Good pizza - the draw of this place is probably more the live music at nights on their outdoors patio upstairs. The food is fairly typical of a pizza and bar joint, which is not bad. Pizza almost always taste great, and this place is no exception - fairly average. The outdoors patio is also nice. The inside is spacious, and of course, TVs grace the place. Of note, during busy nights, street parking can be a little more difficult to find.

  • Geoff T.

I'll revise my prior review with an extra star. This place has grown on me a little, and mostly because of the live music scene that's starting to take root on their newer patio stage. I'm wondering if they'll be able to effectively keep it going during the colder months. I still think the food is a tad overpriced, but it's fairly standard for the neighborhood. This isn't a frequent hangout for me, but it's coming along well.

We came here late one night just for a few drinks. We didnt eat at all. We sat on the roof top terrace and listened to the live band. This little experience gives them 4 stars. That terrace is really nice. Its a good place to relax, people watch and listen to music.

  • Jim V.

The food is excellent. They have a great selection of pizza and beers. Located in the midtown area, this establishment offers live music and TVs to grab your teams big game. The upstairs offers additional seating with a patio that overlooks the busy streets of midtown. The problem with this place is the service. It is the worst in Nashville. But I frequent this place for cold beer, tasty pizza, and good friends!

Whoa! Where do I start?.... First, I have been to this place several times since it's inception, and were it not for the good service of Ryan, my favorite server, I've had less than an OK experience here. Secondly, the food takes forever and the quality is more often than not, poor! Tonight was a whole 'nuther experience!!!! In my 20+ years in this industry, I have NEVER...EVER been treated so rudely by a bartender/server! It took 30-45 minutes for an order of wings, and when they finally arrived and after a few eaten wings, my female companion noticed that they were very under-cooked(i.e, bloody). I asked the bartender if they could be taken off my tab...that's where it all went downhill!!! The night went from an "OK" experience to an absolutely "HORRIBLE" one!!!. I had to ask for a manager to voice my complaint about the rudeness of the bartender, by way the way, while talking to the manager, my MORE than gracious tip was slammed down on the bar by the bartender as he says he didn't want it. AWFUL! PLAIN AWFUL! Truely disgusted by tonight, and it ruined a perfectly great evening up until then.

My overall reaction to this place is "meh" - the service was okay, the food was okay, the ambience was okay. Nothing was really special about it. I'm a little confused about who they're catering to. For a pizza place, they seemed remarkably non kid-friendly - which is fine, but I wish I'd known in advance. The whole wheat crust was a nice option, but didn't taste very good. The waiter seemed befuddled that we just wanted a cheese pizza (really? that's unusual?). Their menu was actually kind of confusing - so many options that it was a bit overwhelming. Pros: *Lots of options? *Nice patio (if it's not totally full, like it was the day we were there) Cons: *Food wasn't that good *Front staff seemed actually unhappy to have a kid there *So many options that it was hard to sort out what to order (but not in a good way) *Huge TVs in every corner so you can't get away from whatever sports are on *Seemed unclear on what customer base they were going after *Their valet lot is so small that it was "full" on the day we were there for lunch Kid-friendly scale: *Wouldn't come back again with our 3yo. They seemed not interested in kids at all. That's totally fine - but if you're a pizza place, kind of weird. Vegetarian-friendly scale: *Eh, it's a pizza place, so yes.

There should be a 6 star for this. Johnny Neel from the Allman Brothers playing tonight. The guy before him was awesome. This is the reason why I love Nashville. You would pay to see this and here its free. Of course this place has great pizza and plenty of beer options but again WOW Music City.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Soulshine Pizza... but I also admit I wasn't in any hurry and my husband and I were looking for a relaxing evening. Service was fine... no one was in much of a hurry, but neither were we. I thoroughly enjoyed my pizza, and my husband loved his red beans & rice. Personally, I see this as a great happy hour hangout spot. Dunno that I'd come for a speedy dinner. (We parked on the street, and I fed the meter for 2 hours. We got out and had only 5 minutes left on it. We didn't realize we were there that length of time, and we were actually shocked it took that long. Not a big deal for us that day, but still a surprise.) It's a casual, laid-back place. I'd recommend only coming if that's exactly what you want.

We were trying to eat at the Tavern, but with a 2 hour wait, we quickly decided to go elsewhere. We walked across the street to Soulshine. I am not usually a fan of specialty pizza places, but I was hungry. We were seated immediately, even though it was a little crowded. The place has a modern feel to it, even though there were kids lurking about. Our server was super friendly and responsive, even though she was super busy. The menu had a lot of choices, and it was hard for me to make up my mind. Which is saying a lot, since I am pretty picky on pizza toppings. I ordered the half salad and the Don Vito. The salad was pretty standard, but the homemade croutons really made it delicious. The Don Vito is a pizza with alfredo sauce, other cheeses, italian sausage, and ground beef. This pizza was nothing short of amazing. I would definitely go again. Actually, do you think can ship the Don Vito to Atlanta?

Well, that was a little disappointing. The space is very nice. Unfortunately, the food and service leave plenty to be desired. Service was pretty slow. My $9.00 martini, when it finally came, arrived in highball glass. The food was fine-not great or in any way memorable, but fine. I'm really just left with no reason to visit again.

This place is not worth the trouble. I went today and tried to get take-out but it was just more than I cared to deal with. So I went in, and asked to order take-out, I was told to go to the bar. Maybe that's normal, but I don't like bars, so I was uncomfortable there just to begin with. I then asked about what style pizza it was, and the girl gave no real answer. She didn't know, and I don't know if it is really a style of pizza. I like classifying things, so I can properly describe them, and compare with similar types. So I order the a 8 incher with one topping. I estimated what it would come to, and but the price they rang up was about 15% more. I protested that that couldn't be right. It's not possible. The woman at the bar, accepted my argument, but had to track down the manager to get the price right. They did fix the price, and they did give me a free soda while I waited, which was nice, but I was irritated at the whole issue. The pizza came soon enough, but it wasn't outstanding. It was edible, and the sausage was fine, but there wasn't much cheese or sauce. Sorry, but I'd much rather stick with a good New York style pie.

Happened upon this place for lunch today because I couldn't find parking for where I was trying to go. The tie dyed van out front and name of the place drew me in. The decor is great. Exposed brick, copper bar. The paintings feature a local artist with a heavy emphasis on blues, guitar gods and southern rock. The life size Duane Allman is reason enough to sit at the bar and stare for a while. Lots of record art and music memorabilia around too. Food was great. Plenty of options other than pizza. Looking forward to going back at night for acoustic music downstairs and full band upstairs. Nashville has been in dire need of a place with live classic/southern rock-funk-blues-jam-soul music. Talked to a couple of the guys who seemed to run the place. Very friendly. Hope their business model works and they stick to their current model. Laid back place for kynd people.

First off their pizza is very good and the crust is just the right thin/thick, more on the thin side though. But my complaint is, the beer menu... over half of the beers on the menu were not available, everyone I asked for was denied because they dont have it anymore. What?! Then take it off the menu! It was ridiculous. I ended up just asking, well, what do you have? He started listing them off until I heard one I liked. It should not be that complicated to order a beer at a place that carries such a variety of beers, or is supposed to.

Went for dinner and were promptly seated outside as the inside with the loud music was not conducive to my friend and I talking. We mentioned our scoutmob deal and were told "we aren't using scoutmob anymore and we're actually suing them because they won't take our deal down" I get that there can be trouble between companies and what not. But if your deal is online and live, you should honor it. This left us with a sour taste in our mouth but we decided to stay. We ordered the southwest pizza and it was delicious! Ate about half of it and took the rest home. Tasted even better as leftovers!

Love this place- all of the food is amazing- my favorite pizza is the buffalo pizza though- it's beyond delicious! Such a fun atmosphere and live music - it's a must for Nashville and you need to try it out!

Pizza was really good. Lots of great beers on tap. We went on a Sunday afternoon, so it was pretty calm. Service was consistent and friendly. I've had some trouble finding decent pizza since I moved to Nashville, but Soulshine is going in the right direction.

Visited even after reading a few not so great reviews. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Liked the atmosphere and had a very friendly and responsive server. Ordered the Crawfish Bread for an app. Yummy! Got two eight inch pizzas to share. The Mediterranean and the Wild Bill. Hubby liked the spicy one best but I liked the shrimp one best. I think this place is a great addition to the neighborhood.

We were there for a birthday party and Soulshine leaves a lot to be desired. The drink prices are not wonderful, there is no way to carry on any fluid conversation because its way too loud even before the life music starts, the servers are not great (we even saw one eating chips on the floor), the bathrooms were dirty in a way that is not just busy restaurant dirty but neglected deep cleaning dirty... The worst part by far is the food. Our pretty large group ordered several pizzas none of which my wife or I partook in. We had pizza at an office event earlier in the day so we decided to share nachos and a small cup of Red Beans and Rice- huge mistake! The chips were just flour tortillas that had been thrown in the deep fat fryer so they were super greasy. The chicken was dry and tasteless and the whole thing had been sat under the broiler for way too long. It should be a crime for them to serve "red beans and rice"! They we terrible!!! Nothing like NOLA, hell Nothing like Popeyes! Adding insult to injury we have both had miserable stomach aches ever since we ate! We grabbed an Uber and headed home instead of continuing on with the rest of the group!!!

Ah, Scoutmob, always leading to fun new places. We decided to take advantage of 50% off this new spot, and were very pleasantly surprised. To start, the interior is very cool. From what I understand, this is a small chain, but it felt like a Nashville local spot. It has an old brick warehouse feel to it, but was really clean and definitely set a good vibe. The music was a bit loud and had some crazy psycho jazz playing at times, but hey, that's Nashville. The big stairs towering through the middle of the room, the stained glass windows, and the beer-bottle chandelier made for some really fun stuff to look at. As for the food, it was pretty great. Three of us split a 16" Carnivore pizza. I forget what all meat was on it, but you can use your imagination... It was a lot. While it wasn't mind-blowing or revolutionary, it was very solid, very delicious pizza. They offer white or wheat crust, and have a LOT of specialty pizzas. There were also lots of people ordering sandwiches and they also looked tasty. Overall, the cool vibe, the good food, and the reasonable price make this a prime candidate for a "regular" spot. We'll be back for sure.

What we enjoyed most about this place was the free entertainment and outdoor patio. It was a fun place to go for drinks and music. We are lunch there and then realized that evening there was free entertainment. The lunch was good but the service wasn't very prompt. That carried in to the evening when we had to ask a waiter three times for service and he kept saying he would be back to get our order. My husband finally went up to the bar on his own to grab drinks. We were there in August for vacation so my review is a tad outdated. But I wanted to commend them on their entertainment.

My teenage son and I arrived in town starving on a Friday night and Yelp!found us a gem! We chose Soulshine because of the combination of live music and pizza, and both were excellent. We shared a 12 inch CCR pizza on wheat crust -- chicken, Canadian bacon, small bacon pieces, and a ranch sauce. Delicious. The chicken was white meat chunks that were moist and tender. The wheat crust was thin and crispy just the way I like it. Based on several reviews that the Crawfish Soup "was to die for", I tried a cup. I wish I would have gotten a bowl. The reviews were right on. The soup was creamy and savory at the same time with the just the right number of whole crawfish tails at the bottom of the cup. It was spiced with the perfect amount of cayenne -- subtly cajun without being too much. Reminds me of another favorite creamy cajun treat, the fettuccine alfredo at Jazz, a Louisiana Kitchen, in Kansas City. Soulshine Pizza Factory is highly recommended, especially on Fri/Sat nights when there is live music with no cover charge.

I thought the whole wheat crust was delicious on our pizza. The crawfish soup is to die for! The service was good, but not out of this world. The Pig nachos were delicious as an app. Everyone left feeling full and happy. I would go back for sure.

Love the casual vibe here. Midtown needed another cool and casual place to eat (that wasn't tacky, aka Chuy's) and this is it! Went to Soulshine to grab some beer and pizza to watch the Preds game. There were lots of drink and menu options. The bartenders were great and attentive. The food was great! Company was great! Can't wait for the weather to get warmer so that we can eat on the front patio! We will definitely go back.

Stuff I like: The awesome patio The CCR Pizza (8 inch for $10) - SO good! Really good service, even on a busy Friday night the Bread Pudding Cool building Stuff I don't like: nothing!

  • Lisa E.

With the number of strong pizza offerings in the midtown area, this is much more a 3 star option and one worth trying if you want live music, big variety in toppings, and a college crowd.

Bottom line: you may like this place for drinks and music, but be sure to eat at home before coming. We stopped by for lunch, having stayed at a hotel around the corner. What a mistake. We had pizza & spaghetti with meatballs. Very basic. What we got was terrible. I suspect that someone had a plan here - how to serve a menu, all just assembled from items off a food service truck, and done so consistently that it doesn't matter who works in the kitchen. Any delivery to our hotel room (Domino's, Papa John's, etc.) would have likely been better.

Pros: Convenient location, decent atmosphere, interesting decor Cons: Apathetic (bordering on rude) staff, disappointing food, really loud My first experience at Soulshine didn't start off so well when I asked a passing waiter if we could have a seat at the last open table, where the leftover food and plates from the previous guests was still sitting. He kept walking and said, "yeah you can just move that stuff over there" and pointed to a service desk area. Really? I'm your guest, not the bus boy. Soon after, as we were sitting down, the same waiter grabbed the beer list off of our table and handed it to the two young ladies at the next table. Umm, I was wanting to look at that myself, thanks. Our drinks came quickly and the food came out reasonably quickly also. But the hummus we ordered tasted like some pasty lime-flavored goop that came straight from a package. The pizza I ordered sounded great on the menu, but what I got was comparable to some frozen pizzas I've had. The toppings were OK, but a little bland, lacking in flavor. The crust was pretty awful. It tasted chalky and frozen. This was disappointing. Beyond this, our waiter was just very lacking in customer service skills. In addition to the rudeness mentioned above, when it came time to get our bill one of the members of our party stated that he already had a tab at the bar and asked if his part could just be added to his tab. The waiter literally rolled his eyes and said, "I don't think so, but I'll check." Despite a fairly negative first experience, I'll give it another chance. It seems like an OK place for happy hour and the overall vibe of the place isn't too bad. There was live music, which is a plus, but for those seated in the music area I imagine there's not much chance for conversation as the music was very loud. Probably not a bad place to go for happy hour drinks, but I'll probably give the food a pass next time.

Good pizza place, nice outdoor area and bar. Clean (which is always important). They're big enough and in the right location to be open late night but they close at 10 or 11PM. I don't have a lot to say about it, but it's good.

    (4)
  • Damon D.

I'll keep this short and sweet! COOL SPOT! Great choices of food/pizza, live music, inside and outdoor seating options, location is good, staff is friendly...that's pretty much what you want in a bar/restaurant IMO!

4 of my friends of mine and I dined here today. We waited over 20 minutes for our pizza. When we got our orders, my boyfriend's pizza didn't come. We asked about his pizza 3 different times. It never came. We all finished our meal, and asked for our checks. Still no pizza. Finally we talked with a manager, she got his pizza to go. THEY STILL CHARGED HIM $2.74 FOR HIS DRINK!!!!! It was not our server's fault but the manager needs to learn about customer service. Bottom line: HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

    (2)
  • Samantha S.

Meh. Great location and we had great service but the pizza is just "meh." I dug the cheap beer and wine list but nothing stood out to me after eating and leaving Soulshine, except the service. Luckily we had a Scout Mob which gave us half off the food portion of our bill.

    (3)
  • Jacob G.

I too was lead to Soulshine by Scoutmob's 50% off deal, and my overall opinion was "(shrug), meh" ... Our server was great, I was excited to see they had three Fat Bottom brewery selections, and the building itself was pretty cool. I feel Soulshine's laid back "jam band" vibe is a nice addition to mid-town's stale Vandy bro AND music row pushers scene. All that being said, the food was pretty unsatisfying. My girlfriend and I split a bowl of crawfish bisque, small pulled pig nachos, and got two small 8" pizzas (the Bourdeaux and the hamburger pie). Crawfish bisque tasted like canned cream of mushroom soup with four scant crawfish tails thrown in as a garnish, the nachos were greasy, gooey cheesieness with BBQ sauce and a bit of pork, but were completely uninspiring, and the pizza was the biggest let down. My girlfriend was excited about the wheat dough option, which along with the MULTIPLE BBQ pie options, I thought were both an insult to the pizza gods. While I admire their creative effort in adding jerk chicken to a pie and calling it the "Bob Marley", one does not just simply "dazed and confusedly" throw random ingredients on a pie and create a new menu item. I will go again, but not to eat. It will be to escape the douchebaggery of midtown, grab a Fat Bottom Rye Pale Ale and watch some live music. If you want good pizza, go to Bella Nashville in the farmers market. Chicken little know pizza.

Well if i wanted to put this kind of filth in the Sammy machine id go to Mellow Mushroom. This place is a godamned gluten bomb. Tight ass on 2 waitresses though. I'll be back.

I was excited when I saw the menu at Soulshine pizza. We started with a shrimp nachos appetizer, which was good. Then my wife and I ordered a 16" pizza; she had "everything but the kitchen sink" on one half, and I had the Athena on the other. My wife asked for no sauteed onions or peppers on her half. Unfortunately they must have thought that was for the whole pizza, because my half had none. To make matters worse, the pizza had almost no sauce on it. As a result, my half was nothing but mozzarella and feta cheese with black olives and a few small shrimp. I was very disappointed: my pizza was dry and almost tasteless. For the first time in years I am not interested in eating the leftover pizza. I would have returned my pizza but my wife liked her half, so I give Soulshine 2 rather than 1 stars. On the plus side, the service was good, but parking is a pain, even during off hours.

I had the muffuletta and was disappointed. It was pre-packaged lunch meat with no flavor. The server was great and the vibe was very nice. Food however was less than so-so.

Last night was awesome!!! We went to Soulshine for my 30th birthday dinner. I had about 30 people with me, the wait was a little long but worth it. We basically took over a whole section. Our server Ryan (or Bryan, sorry I forgot) was AWESOME! I know it can be stressful having such a large group, but he was great! He kept checking on me and brought out my food first because it was my birthday, and some yummy bread pudding!!! We all had a blast, thanks to him. It turns out he's only been serving for a month! TERRIFIC job Ryan (or Bryan)!!!!

There are plenty of pizza joints in Nashville, but the newest is Soulshine Pizza Factory on Division Street. This place started down in Mississippi and you can tell what the influences are by looking on the menu .Since they have opened, I have dined in twice and had take-out once. Each time I have been there, it has not been busy. The food and service has always been good. The building is brick inside and out with smooth concrete flooring. The atmosphere is very nice upstairs and downstairs with a bar downstairs which sits under the stairs. The downstairs bar is not that big but it is cute and it works. A few tables are sprinkled in the middle of the floor while booths surround the area. There is also a big ceiling fan in the room which fits the décor. Upstairs is a larger bar, tables, a stage and an unfinished roof patio that will be great when the summer gets here. The music is bluesy, and there is great colorful artwork on the walls including a picture of Redd Foxx aka Fred G Sanford. Soulshine has weekday lunch specials, and the pizza at this place is really good. They have various types of pizza, and you can also create your own. The 28 pizzas to choose from have very gimmicky names like the Mississippian which has pulled and grilled chicken, pepper jack cheese and sun dried tomatoes. Sleeps with the fishes has Alfredo sauce, mozzarella, spinach, bell peppers, shrimp, crab meat, and goat cheese (does not sound appetizing to me). All pizza can be made into a calzone or you can have white or wheat dough. Appetizers range from wings to cream of crawfish soup, and hummus for you vegetarians. They have several Po-boy sandwiches such as the Mama Mia which I have had. It's a meatball sandwich with marina, mozzarella, and delicious bread (Very tasty). They also have a very delicious sounding muffaletta. My friends that I have dined with had the Greek salad which they both loved. The Greek had romaine lettuce, black olives, peppers, onions, and feta cheese. Entrees include red beans and rice, Nathan Hotdogs, and Spaghetti with meatballs. They have only a few desserts but that "slap yo momma bread puddin" is soooo magnificent the sauce is sweet with a taste of bourbon. An employee told me that it had apples in it but I did not taste the apples; however, I devoured it. This is a wonderful place with ok staff and a lot of options. It is a great spot for groups and a late night weekend bite. We were informed that the people rent out the upstairs area for parties. They also have a psychedelic van that advertises catering. Mid-Town in Nashville is getting better with each additional restaurant. I recommend this pizza joint to anyone especially to the college "kids" (the po-boys are better than the pizza). The space next door is owned by some of the same people, and rumor is, they are going to open a sliders restaurant.

I've got to admit. I'm not much of a Pizza guy, but Soulshine is great. I've been a few times and the flavors are great. It's definitely worth checking out. Their second floor balcony is great as well.

Being a Mississippi man, I wanted to love Soulshine fot its Mississippi roots, but it was not to be. The decor and atmosphere are cool although very noisy. I had spaghetti & meatballs and the red beans rice. Sadly, they both looked and tasted pr-packaged. The red beans and rice tasted like Popeyes, spot-on. The service was so bad we had wave down the waiter for drink refills. On a Sunday, we were surrounded by empty tables so the lack if service was a mystery. I will go back if I see better reviews.

I thought the food was great! I tried the cheeseburger pizza on wheat and had a bite (okay two) of my friend's Bob Marley (on wheat). Yummo!! We also had to crawfish cheese bread and it was great, too. The only drawback is the parking situation but that really can't be helped.

My fiance and I have been to Soulshine twice now. We live in Midtown and are glad that a place like Soulshine stands in place of the loud, dangerous nightclub that used to be there (when the crowd at the club used to let out, it was a risky time to be outside. We heard gunshots at least once a month back when Division existed). That said, our first experience was so-so. My fiance was excited to try their seafood pizza, however, it left something to be desired. The wine selection was a bit lacking, for me, but the beer list was good enough for my fiance. Our biggest complaint about that night (it was a weeknight) was that the music coming through the speakers was way too loud, then, on top of that, they had all of the sound on all of their TVs blasting too. I feel the need to qualify ourselves here; we are in our 20s and can handle loud music... we go to a lot of shows. This place was just ridiculous, though, with all of the conflicting noise. We gave Soulshine another chance last night, thinking we'd order something else this time. They've also renovated even more since our last visit... they added an upstairs, outdoor music venue. We think it is cool what they've done with the place. However, when we got inside, we could not believe how LOUD it was! Even louder than last time! Not only did they have a rock band upstairs, but they were STILL blasting their music through the speakers, and STILL blasting the TVs! Having arrived absolutely sober, it was like being in a nightmare. We would have had to have been pretty tipsy to be ok with the volume level. We couldn't even talk with each other below a shout. It was like being at a concert, trying to talk to each other while seated in their dining area. It was hard enough to talk to each other, so I'd say Soulshine is not a great place to go with a group of people. The food, again, was not very impressive. The service was slow as well. We will probably go back to Soulshine, since it is in our neighborhood and we like the ambiance of the place (minus the noise). We'll probably go only during the middle of the day, though, for a drink and some appetizers at the bar.

The drinks are good, the patio is fantastic, but the pizza is mediocre.

The pizza was decent if not a little over cooked but our problem was generally with the service. Our waiter was clearly busy which is fine, but when he approached our table, he immediately started making fun of one of his other tables for their taste in beer (the fact that they didn't know what exactly they wanted was what was taking up all of his time). It made us all really uncomfortable, but he wouldn't let up. Finally when our food was dropped my salad order was wrong (and the salad and pizza came out at the same time). They did replace it but there were no apologies. They also forgot to bring silverware and plates. Even by the time the new salad came out we still didn't have anything to eat with. When we asked for them, our waiter only brought plates back but was in such a hurry that we couldn't ask him for silverware. We finally asked two more people (one who forgot about us) and got silverware. Once we asked our waiter about it, he got out his key chain and was waving a key in my husband's face saying he was the only one in the restaurant with that key and people kept asking him for it, which is why he didn't have time to come to our table. We tried to talk to two more people about the poor service we had received, all of whom just made excuses about the restaurant being too busy. I've never seen such horrible customer service in my life.

I would say food is pretty good but not great. Super fun at night, live music on the weekends. Would recommend going there for a lively atmosphere and more of a upbeat kind of place. Pepperoni bread is great and so are pork nachos.

I take my kids to Soulshine Pizza all the time. I love that it's loud and so my kids can be loud and I can relax and mommy can drink a glass of wine. I love the patio and at night I go back with my friends because they open the doors upstairs and the whole top floor feels like you are outside. They take large parties upstairs and it can feel like you have your own event space. I love the music, the look of the restaurant. The artwork is of top musicians and Redd Foxx, really cool. And with the stained glass windows and church pews, I feel like I'm sitting in the Ryman having a beer. When I drink, I like to eat pizza or hamburgers, although the caesar with the homemade croutons makes for a nice side. Def one of my regular spots. Great place to hang out.

We visited on a Tuesday around 4:30pm. The place was empty except for us and another couple (at the bar). Our waiter greeted us and didn't return for a while. He was busy chatting up the other staff members. It was cold inside so we decided to move outside. Our new waitress was wonderful. She was really stationed inside but couldn't have been more attentive to us. The pizza was ok. Probably wouldn't return here.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
