I've visited this restaurant twice in the last three months and was not impressed. The first visit was on a Friday night . We had 7:30 reservations sat in the main dining room. For the prices, the food is disappointing. I ordered the chocolate brownie dessert and the brownie was so hard, it took a knife to cut through it. The thing I was most disappointed about was the band starting playing around 8 PM. It was so loud, my friend and I had to yell to hear each other. I think live music is great, but maybe start a little later after the dinner rush. The second visit we sat outside. The atmosphere was nice, but the food was not. We paid $30 for a steak that was overcooked and mushy green beans. The crab bisque was embarrassing when compared to Mere Bulles version. I can get a better steak at Outback for much less. I will not be returning to this restaurant again.

We did not make reservations before arriving- although we did find a spot in the bar upstairs. Our bartender took care of us and the service was great! I ordered the scallops and it was delicious! They were cooked perfectly and the flavor was smoky greatness melting in my mouth! My husband ordered the cowboy and his steak also melted in our mouths! Great meal for a nice night out! I ordered the peach martini ... also very tasty! Just enough sweet to keep me going back for more! Overall it was a good meal and we ended up spending $120 or so for two of us. We also got an appetizer... it was tasty. . . but I can't remember what it was called!

My husband and I went to Sambuca last night and ABSOLUTELY LOVED everything about it. I had the scallops and they were delicious, he had the Cowboy cut ribeye...it was so big he could only eat half! The music was fun and the servers were excellent. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a romantic but not pretentious restaurant.

Live Jazz. American-style cuisine. AND a dance floor?! Good times! We love to share several of their small plates such as the Calamari Fritti, the Seared Tuna, and the brushetta. I have a friend that claims that he helped the bartender perfect their Strawberry Mojito, but I think he's just trying to take credit for it because it is so good. It's low calorie but doesn't taste low calorie. I highly recommend Sambuca for outtings with friends or a romantic date night...and if you just got that bonus check you've been waiting on because it's going to cost you a couple extra duckets. Worth it though.

I guess Nashville's Sambuca in the Gulch comes with more southern snobbery than a bedazzled pair of rhinestoned wranglers. If you stripped this restaurant of it's pretentious manager and revamped the wine list and the menu, then maybe it would be worth going back to. Our experience last night was shocking. After spending $200 on food and beverage I felt used and abused. The mark up on wine is approximately 80% and the seafood tastes like it has been sitting in a freezer for weeks. The salmon is farmed raised and disgusting. It was sent back due to the bottom of the fish being grey. The flavor tasted like nothing. The cream of crab soup tasted like it had 5 times the amount of cream needed. Upon leaving and tipping 20%, the doorman told my fiancé that if would have seen him earlier, he would have not let him in wearing a tee-shirt. Never in my life have I witnessed such condescending manners from a doorman!!!! The manager was notified and made no real effort to apologize. With far better service and food elsewhere here in Nashville, there is no reason to ever return to Sambuca. Waste of money and time.

Food: Awful. My husband had the lobster and shrimp enchilada . $28 The shrimp and lobster were dry and fishy tasting. I had the seared tuna. The tuna was ok, but it too tasted fishy. $15. One good point: the service was Great. This was our second visit to the establishment for dinner and our last. Both meals were awful.

Tasty food, live music!

PROS: I have been both day and night and the restaurant has never let me down. Wonderful low light ambience, Classy is the word that best describes this place, food is really good especially cosmo pizza, they have a large upper covered patio level area with views of the city and cosy seating for love birds, live music most nights. Happy hour includes half price pizza. Friendly staff, good looking people. CONS: Some drinks from the most part are a little on the high side but I guess that is to be expected in these types of establishments.

One of the definite go-to places in Nashville. Went there as a group of 10 on a Saturday evening. A-plus for the hostess in getting us organized as one group on short notice! The wait staff were quite responsive and took pains to explain what our options were. Settled on the filet mignon with the gorgonzola/walnut butter with asparagus spears and requested it to be cooked medium. Arrived medium well, but still quite tasty, but had to knock of a star to be fair! A few interesting cocktail options and ended up trying most of them :p. Had live music, which is always a big plus and what's more it was actually not too loud. Bonus, excellent clientele and parking right outside the restaurant in a lot across the street. Will definitely go back.

Every time I visit Sambuca, I want it to blow me away...and yet, it never does. LOCATION: The location is excellent - The Gulch is a fun place to spend your evening as a young professional and the restaurant has a fantastic patio that looks out over the hustle and bustle of the neighborhood. ATMOSPHERE: Inside, the interior is dark and exudes a "gothic jazz club feel." I have never had lunch there, but I would imagine it might be a little awkward to dine there without the cover of darkness outside. I'm not sure whether there is live music every night, but every time I have dined at Sambuca, there was been live music. If you are seated in the main dining room, the music can be overwhelming, especially if you are striving for good over-dinner conversation. I usually request to dine upstairs if possible. The lounge area is always busy, although in my most recent visit, the crowd seems a bit older than I had previously noted - especially as the night wore on. But, I do enjoy sitting at a high-top table in the lounge area for cocktails and small plates. FOOD: The food is okay (despite the one time one of my small plates was freezing cold on the inside) and would probably bring me back if it weren't so expensive. For dinner, it might be okay, but for happy hour, you'll never leave with a cocktail and a small plate for less than $25 with tip. Their small plates are good, as are their pizzas. Note to folks with nut allergies: a friend almost ate something with nuts despite explicitly telling the wait staff that she was allergic. It was a close call. BEVERAGES: Sambuca has a great cocktail menu (especially if you're out for happy hour with girlfriends) and I've never been unhappy with a drink I have ordered there. But, again, fairly expensive - happy hour isn't even that great. OVERALL: Sambuca is okay to visit every few months or so, but I wouldn't make it a regular stop in town - especially since it's not technically "local" - there are other locations. I know they say "if it's too loud, you're too old," but Sambuca's music can be pretty overwhelming if you're not prepared for it. I do have to say that Sambuca is great to our community and has regularly supported two nonprofits I work with. Therefore, I'll continue to give my business to them every as a sign of my appreciation.

3 stars. I went here for Valentine's Day last year with my BFF. It was an okay time. Nothing over the top. Food was really good. I think I had the American Pie Pizza and some cheesy bread type stuff. Patron margarita(s) were great. Valet was slow. Place was crowded. Band was good, but not amazing.

After living in Nashville for 10 years, I decided I had to try this place. The drinks were great and the food was FABULOUS! We had the crab/lobster soup, tuna special with wasabi mashed potatoes- perfect portions and perfect taste! Then we topped it off with a cheese cake, cinnamon sopapilla that was one of the best desserts I have had in my ENTIRE life. So many places are trendy, cool atmosphere but have just average to bad food. This was a wonderful surprise, and I can't wait to go back!

Showed up (4 adults and our 6 month old baby) at 8pm on a Saturday night and the place was packed. Hostess told us they were booked with reservations (there was a killer band playing). Another hostess said she had a table available outside, and they seated us immediately. Our server may have been the best server I have had. Not too pushy, but very accommodating. The food was american bistro-style, high dollar, but definitely not over-priced. Had the rib-eye with panko tater tots, and it was delicious. Rest of the party had the scallops, and the filet mingon, and all were amazing. Pretty good (marked-up) wine list, though being from California we are spoiled. We had a birthday in out party, which we mentioned, not necessarily expecting the cliche staff-sung birthday song or candle-lit birthday cake. We ordered the creme brulee for dessert (which was one of the best creme brulees I have had). It presented on an over-sized plate withe "Happy Birthday" written in hardened chocolate sauce with a single candle. Fun and elegant. I listed not good for kids, but they were accommodating of our little baby. Definitely an adult eatery. All-in-all, the best meal we had all week in Nashville.
