While I am not a big fan of the food, this place is certainly convenient and inexpensive. It's usually a hit or miss. For example, the beef szechuan had a very odd combination of ingredients and flavors, but when I ordered the pork fried rice it was pretty decent. The atmosphere is awkward and uncomfortable, so I usually take it to go.

No. 1 chinese is a family owned take-out place. That's the jist if it. You can dine in, but it's not really suited for an enjoyable experience. It's purely utilitarian. The food is really good, I have ordered dozens of times and it has always been quick and delicious. I would definitely recommend.

I love chinese food and I have tried a lot of different places but I really think this is the best place in Nashville for good cheap chinese. We have ordered delivery at least 15 times and its always been super consistent. They are located on Thompson Lane but deliver to East Nashville which fills the void of a good chinese place over here. Try it, you'll be glad you did.

i ordered from the website waited an hour for my food and then called the place and the lady that answered the phone started shouting at me and said website doesnt work and then hung up on me. i called back and asked if they had my order she started shouting and then put someone else on phone and said we dont have time for you we have other customers. when it comes to my money i told them you have time for me and they hung up on me once again. dont order from these people they are awful and all they seem to care about is money not customer service.

They deliver to my house and work very often. The food has never been disapointing. The steamed dumplings are excellent. I have had the pork Lo mein, most of the shrimp dishes, soups and the crab Rangoon. The only thing bad I have to say about them is one time they put msg on my Chinese donuts instead of sugar! It was horrid, but they brought ms more within ten minutes.

Decent Chinese food! We ordered the chicken lo mein, crab rangoon, egg roll, and general tso's chicken. Crab rangoon was a little too cream cheese-y. The rest of the food was really good. We ordered a "large" of the chicken lo mein and it was a massive portion - seriously, it was like three meals. Happy to have found a good Chinese food place close to us!

The food is decent, the customer service is mediocre. I've ordered from here a few times, mostly because they deliver. Twice I've gotten the wrong food, but it always arrives fast. Sometimes the one who answers the phone is friendly and sometimes they're a jerk. Def get delivery or to go, don't eat there, it's awkward. There's always a bunch of people there just hanging out, playing on iPads or doing homework who like to stare at you.

The staff is not the most friendly but I love the dumplings and crab Rangoon so much that I deal with it. Seriously the best crab Rangoon around.

Have been ordering from No 1 Chinese for 5 years. Food is usually very good, but today I found a small strip of aluminum foil in my chicken lo mein. I highly doubt that I will order from here in the future.

This place is pretty badly named. You go in thinking that no one is Chinese as the sign states, and then I'm pretty sure they all are. It's an awkward moment all around. On a less serious note, the food is average inexpensive Chinese. It takes a lot longer than it seems like it should to get your food, so plan to order and go to Kroger or somewhere else for exactly 13 minutes longer than you think it should take. Not a bad joint, not fast, filled with a diverse customer flow of people who do not seem to have ever ordered Chinese food in their life or realize you should not get sushi, especially in the south, at a take out Chinese joint. I like it, but it breaks the cardinal rule of Chinese joints. If you're going to be great you don't have to be fast or cheap. If you're going to be cheap you don't have to be fast or great. If you're going to be fast you don't have to be cheap or great. This place is not fast, not great, and not cheap (not horribly pricey, but...) it just seems to not quite do itself justice. Meh prices, average food, meh speed

I wish I could give zero stars. My fiance and I ordered take out from this restaurant to be delivered. Over an hour passes and we get a rude phone call from the driver who has our address confused. My fiance corrects the problem and thirty more minutes passed. We get another phone call-- EXTREMELY RUDE. This driver proceeds to tell us that we gave him the wrong address.. he is at a hotel and wants to know which room we are in. My fiance tries to explain that he gave him the right address, we live right down the road from that hotel. This driver starts to curse at my fiance and tell him that hes wrong, our address is this hotel he is at. My fiance tells him please do not come to our home, it has been an hour and a half, and after the elapsed time and rude comments, I do not want to see you at my door. Five minutes later this driver is beating on our front door, shouting loud enough to wake up all of our neighbors. My fiance opened the door and told him to leave. My fiance tries to shut the door, this driver PUSHES through trying to walk in to our home, still shouting. My fiance tells him he needs to leave or we are calling the cops-- the driver tries to say that he will call the cops. He goes back to his car and sits in front of our house shouting to the point to where our neighbors come outside to see what is going on. My fiance tells him again that he needs to leave. The driver starts shouting "F---- You" at the top of his lungs over and over and he finally drives away.. still shouting. We called this restaurant to report the actions of this driver and they hung up on us. We are filing a police report and suggest that others who have had similar experiences do the same. I wish I could just rate the food.

This place is mediocre. I live near it and have tried it many times. It works if you have a Chinese craving. However, the people who work there are NOT very friendly and depending on when you go, the food is a hit or miss. It's good, but I've had better.

As alot of you had said i have also had an issue with the delivery driver. First he ran me and my fiance off the road. So i ordered some food and asked him to slow down. He said F*** you. you are the police. i asked him to leave. I figured i just wouldnt order from there again. The second time he ran me off the road i honked my horn and was very upset. It was really close to my house, which being a delivery driver, he knew so when i went to turn into my road he completely locks up his brakes trying to cause an accident, turns around and gives me the finger, and starts to pull away. That was the last straw. I had planned originally to go talk to the owners. When attempting to tell them what happened He came in screaming "I F*** You" over and over. The owner asked me to leave so i did. He followed me out screaming "I F*** You" which i was ok with until he said "I F*** YOUR WIFE"! This is a rather large man who knows where i live. I on the other hand am not, luckily I am undefeated in my professional mma career at 145 lbs. I made quick work of the very large man before chocking him unconcious and soccer kicking him while 3 people pulled me off him. You do not threaten peoples loved ones. We have since gone to mediation where we agreed to ignore each other if we are seen. These are terrible people. After speaking to all of the business around the shopping area they too have had issues and do not like the man. I am glad to see it wasnt just me. we do not order from them any more.
