Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Went here once with my wife for cinco de mayo. It was decent. They are pricier than all the other 20 or so Mexican joints in the nearby area. Not to mention the cheaper ones are better. But service was good and I did not have a bad experience. I would eat there again but it's not the choice place.

we came to this place after hearing they were the best fajitas in town. eh, not so much. the fajitas for two was a very large portion, I'll give them that, but it was nothing outstanding. run of the mill Mexican. beautiful interior, though.

Pretty good place to grab Mexican. Its worth checking out--particular during typical dinner hours. I've been here 4 times and had pretty decent food each time. I got the $8 chicken fajitas for lunch--pretty decent side of chicken. Better interior than La Hacienda arguably--but I on bang for the buck--I think La Hacienda has the edge. * Combo platters at La Hacienda seem to be better. Arcos tends counts beans or rice as part of a 3 part combo platter--while La Hacienda gives you actual tacos, burritos, or other another dish more consistently.

Nice family owned restaurant. Liked the inside, very inviting, lots of photos and art adorn the walls. One big room with about 12-15 tables. The chips and salsa were excellent. I had the chili relleno plate. I have had better, a little too doughy for me. They have small bar and serve liquor. The waitress was very good, however the servers were a bit slow and lacked any kind of enthusiasm. It was our first time here, but if I we were to be back in the area, we would definitely give it a second chance. The were also doing a Mexican buffet at lunch, not something you see everyday.

Since I work in the area, I've driven by Los Arcos many times but never stopped. Recently a coworker suggested that we stop there for dinner. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical, but all it took was that first bite to win me over. The food, staff and atmosphere were all excellent, and LA has become a frequent dinner destination for me. Los Arcos' pricing is typical for what I would expect from a Mexican restaurant in that area, but the portions are extremely large and the food is of above average quality. I've tried every variation of enchiladas that they have to offer, and I have nothing but good things to say about them. Their rice isn't as dry as what I typically find in restaurants, and the refried beans are out of this world. If you're craving a little liquid relaxation, the margaritas are reasonably priced and very well made. A couple of their margaritas paired with chips and salsa or queso is a great way to unwind after a long day of work. The only negative that I've really run across with Los Arcos is that special order items seem to take quite a bit longer to be brought to the table than a standard order. While I would expect a slight delay for some special orders, I don't see why something as simple as leaving off the lettuce or tomatoes should add any significant amount of time to the preparation of my food. Other than that, I have nothing but praise for the restaurant. Overall, great food, at a great price, served by a great staff. Do yourself a favor and stop by the next time you are craving some great Mexican food!

I have eaten here three times total. Every time I eat here I get ill. The latest time I ordered some refried beans, mexican rice and a taco. I made it to the parking lot and immediately started throwing up. My husband had to drive me home. I had almost food poisoning and I was sick for three days.. I will never eat here again!!! I see cross bones and skull when I look at this establishment...Beware!!!

This place didn't blow my mind, but it didn't leave me dissatisfied either. It's def a step up from your standard Mexican restaurant. The margaritas are cheap, the shrimp fajitas are delish and the staff is really nice. They messed up my order and before I could even realize it they took my plate back and remade it. All in all, a place definitely worth trying.

I had the tacos autenticos, al pastor and carnitas. The carnitas meat was somewhat dry (better with hot sauce served on the table) but the al pastor tacos were excellent. My husband had a combo plate with an enchilada, a quesadilla and a taco, all of which were good. Service was good and if I lived in this area I'd definitely come back again. The pitcher of Dos Equis Amber was a nice finishing touch. The extra charge for avocado was disappointing.

I love eating with my family, and many times we choose the same locations. I have been at Los Arcos around 3 times. I think there food is great, but for some reason they always get someones order wrong. I remember once my entire family went, and the birthday boy who was my brother, waited over an hour because they didn't have shrimp. They did compensate him with a big jar of beer, but then again he was the last one to eat. All I ask is for the order to be correct, and not having to wait for hours.

My fave Mexican, great seafood dishes, some are breaded & fried which I dont favor but there are also oven baked fish dishes & with tender octopus the seafood molcajate is superbo. My wife always judges a Mexican on the Margaritas, you can really taste the tequila in their pitchers . The staff here are some of the friendliest I have met. They need to move closer to our neighborhood & we would become regulars

Nice place seafood was on the warm side I expected oysters to be pretty cold but they were not.had a shrimp cocktail, same thing the shrimp were warmer than the mix they were immersed in. Service was slow but ok,not as high speed as we have had in other Mexican restaraunts.cheese dip was more watery than I'm used to.I guess this place can have good and bad days.I missed the good one.I'll try it one more time just to be fair.....

Awesome food. Insanely huge portions. Delicious margaritas. Friendly server. Will be back!

Los Arcos has the best seafood in south Nashville. Octopus and shrimp in a whole pineapple (Pina Cantama) is good for the daring. The fish Filete Relleno is a version of a chile relleno style dish. These two selections and the other seafood offerings are influenced by the managing cousins Guadalajara, Mexico heritage. The arches welcome you at the entrance to their Mexican city, thus the idea for the name. As you enter Los Arcos you can notice the arch design of the door and windows. Inside it feels real from the fancy chairs from Guadalajara up to the natural wagon-wheel light fixtures. It's a well appointed restaurant with moderate prices. In addition to the unique choices from the sea, the range of standard Mexican fare is also here. It's across from the Nashville Zoo, and has a few kids choices too.

I was going to hit up La Hacienda today but then I saw Los Arcos over on the right and swung my car through traffic and squealed the tires into the parking lot. I wanted to get my Mexican seafood on!! So wow, this place. When I walked in I was like "woaaaah look at the cool chairs"! Each chair at each table is emblazoned in the wood with the words Los Arcos and other decorative work. It makes the place look a step above other places. Our waitress was young and kind of sassy - I liked her very much. She didn't care that we took forever to peruse the menu, drank our drinks like some hungover fools, and basically were needy. She brought chips, salsa, and gave us plenty of time. Menu has standard fare - I think it is just as much grill as it is seafood - but still had an entire page of seafood options. Sadly I didn't see the option for the whole fish, skin on, grilled like at my fave place in Big D. But tilapia with the diabla sauce (or diablo, is it feminine in this case? Can't remember) was on my radar. Think spicy red sauce, served with rice and a side salad. (I asked for no beans so perhaps it may have been served differently if I hadn't.) My brother got some chimichanga, enchilada extravaganza covered in cheese. So the diablo/a sauce was legit man! It was actually full of spice and although the color red was a little different than I'm used to, the flavor was nice. I ate all of it. The other great thing is that this dish is not all goopy and fatty. Grilled fish covered in a non-cheese based sauce with rice was not too bad for you and you didn't leave feeling heavy. Now if only I could somehow justify the chips! Also, please note that they had a salsa bar over in the side of the room that the waitress told us about. These were some more adventurous and pleasing salsas than just the usual. Go check it out! We also tried some pineapple soda and I finally decided to bust out and try some horchata. Ya, I lived in TX for 11 years but I just never tried it when there was perfectly good diet coke around. Today it sounded cool and refreshing and looked like it would cool down the heat in my mouth. And it did. Everyone there was sucking that stuff down too - I watched the full container of it in the back get progressively emptier just during our short lunch. I am definitely coming back to this. While I miss Tex-Mex the most, I have to say that this place was legitimately yum and I want to try more of their offerings!

Great food, great service, nice atmosphere. I'm there. Ask for hotter salsa if you are so inclined and try the fried jalapeno if you want your eyeballs to sweat. I'm still searching for great sopapillas in Nazzy and Los Arcos' are not it. I want unadorned, hot, soft, pillows ready for heaps of honey. The mocajete and fajitas are awesome.

The carnitas (pork) burrito was very good - thought I wish the menu said it has griled onions and peppers, because I would have asked them to be removed. But I know most people like them. I like the fresh avocado served as a garnish - tasty counterpoint to the burrito. The flan is really good, thoughts the put whipped cream and chocolate sauce on it, yuck. Scrape it off and enjoy the tasty flan.

I have never been to Mexico nor really aware of what authentic mexican food is. Have eaten in many Nashville mexican restaurants and Los Arcos had the strongest most lethal margherita. Never thought Margheritas could be a strong drink. Carnitas and grill food were above average. Ambience is really good and the waitresses were cute. Oh yes, I am going here again.

This place says the have tortilla soup on their online menu. My wife and I are sick and we need chicken soup. I called 3 times to order and no answer. I decided to just go there and wait for a to go order. Guess what? No tortilla soup... Argh... Going now to El Palenque. All of their food is great and they have the best chicken soup I have ever had. Longer drive, but worth it... Should have just gone there to begin with...

Went on a Saturday night and the place was dead, never the less service was super slow and the food was barely warm. Also way to pricey for the quality of food and service. There were about 8 servers standing around and our server brought our food to us one person at a time ( there was 4 of us ) I was the last to get my food and the whole process 20 minutes we won't be back.

Really enjoyed this place! Went for happy hour after a zoo date with the fiancé and enjoyed 2 strong margaritas for 2.99 a pop. Chips and salsa was fresh and tasty. Both entrees were solid and huge. The decor is A+. The prices are pretty reasonable too. Will definitely come back.

Mexican lunch buffet? Hell yeah! So I finally tried the lunch buffet here, and it is solid. I mean, you would think there would be more Mexican buffets around given that Mexican food is basically like 6 ingredients; just mixed together in different combos. I want to say the buffet runs like $8 and you have full reign over a ton of stuff. I mean I'd pay $8 at some places just to get unlimited queso dip. That stuff is good on almost everything (except my waistline). From what I remember you basically have: Soup (either a chili or a chicken tortilla) Steak fajita mix Chicken fajita mix rice & beans enchiladas ground beef, shredded chicken flour tortillas, taco shells, and tostadas cheese quesadillas (sweet!) white queso dip chicken wings (actually pretty good) guac (awesome), sour cream, pico, shredded cheese, lettuce and other toppings dessert with cinnamon churros and some other stuff fresh fruit Overall a solid place to spend lunch hour.

Love the lunch buffet, it's fresh and enough variety to satisfy. The menu is great, lots of choices you won't find at the other 50 Mexican restaurants on Nolensville Rd.

I have a new favorite for Mexican in Nashville. Los Arcos has a really cute interior that is perfect for large or small groups, and a small, quaint outdoor patio. Onto important things, like the margaritas. They claim to serve their margaritas with 100% blue agave tequila, and the margaritas certainly have an authentic, not overly sweet quality. Pictures are generously sized at $18.99, with an option for monster-sized glasses. The prices are more than reasonable, even off special. The bar area is clean and neatly displays the glassware and some high-quality tequilas behind glass. If you're a sports fan, there are at least a couple flat screens featuring fùtbol. They have lunch buffet specials Mon-Thurs for well under $10 pp (exact price is escaping me). With a centrally located stone fountain that reminds me of my meals in the intimate hacienda restaurants of Nogales, Mexico, I am really impressed by the clean, cheery, bright interior with lots of windows and plenty of charm.

Nothing special here - about 10 better Mexican places within 5 miles. The food is average and it always seems empty - think there is a reason for that. Service has never been great and overall there are just way better options down the road.

Two of my favorite words are "Mexican" and "buffet," so I jumped at the chance to try the lunch buffet at Los Arcos. They did well on the basics: ground beef, enchiladas, refried beans, rice. I was impressed that they had guacamole, which is an expensive item to put on a buffet. They had three kinds of fajita mix, but I don't like green peppers, and they all had them. Cons: the food didn't seem quite as hot as it should be. And it was frustrating to wait for the server to come pick up our check because she didn't tell us that we pay up front. All in all, a really good meal and a great bargain. One of the friends I went with wanted to come back the next day. The seafood that other tables were eating looked good.

Poor service, food quality was average, preparation was poor. Had to add salt to salsa, chimichanga was not fried at all. Bland city.

Los Arcos is your usual Mexican restaurant, average food, typical Mexican decor, some guy who comes and sings but unfortunately is not that good at it, a waitress who is either decent at English or knows no English at all. This place isn't really special... The atmosphere is very cliche so not much to write home about there. I mentioned the random guitarist, who plays music a bit too loudly and you can't hear yourself think. So hopefully you come in and eat when no one is around. The food looked nothing special, but I don't write off the food just for it's looks. My Tacos de Carne azada were alright, not bad, but not great. The steak wasn't hard or anything, but it had not a lot of flavor. The only thing I could taste was lemon and cilantro... So that's not really a good thing. The waitress was nice, she could speak both English and Spanish quite well so our English speaking guests did not have trouble. She was however gone for long periods of time. I spent about 15 mins with no drink. All in all I might comeback if the family wants to get Mexican and there's no other closer place to go. But me myself will not choose to go back.

always good and great price. Great salsa and the rice is okay. Love the interior too. Always friendly.

I happened to eat there tonight around 8ish with my girlfriend and unfortunately it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a while. I ordered one of the nachos entrees and got about 3 bites into it when I discovered a plastic ring in my food. I don't know what it came from...maybe a glove? Regardless I alerted the waiter who apologized and asked what he could do. I said it was no big deal, I've waited tables before, and I'd just like a fresh dish. He nodded his head and removed the dish. Unfortunately, he never came back. Our drinks went empty, my replacement meal never came, and our waiter simply posted up by the cash register, chatting with a female co-worker. After sitting there for about 20 minutes after my gf finished, he finally came to remove her plate. I asked for the check and said that at this point, I'd appreciate if he simply removed my meal from the bill. My gf asked if they simply forgot my meal or what. The waiter stammered that it was coming, but then admitted they forgot. So we paid and left. I get things happen beyond a server's control....But this was embarrassing. Dude just didn't care. There were only 3 other tables in there, I'm not sure why a little customer service was hard to come by. Anyway, we won't be back. Hope others have a better experience!
