I've been to this place a handful of times over the past 4 years and have always liked the food and experience here. First of all, it's very clean in here! You can tell they put some money into the decor and appearance whereas some Asian places don't bother updating or cleaning the interior up at all. I've tried the pad Thai, curry chicken, pho, and more recently the duck soup with the egg noodles (I forget the name). All have been delicious. I also like how they offer a variety of spices and sauces to supplement the dish. I personally like the dry hot pepper spices. I too my husband here for the first time today, and he was impressed about the cleanliness and also the quality and freshness of the food and ingredients. For example the bean sprouts and basil tasted a lot fresher than some of the other places we have been to. I also like how they offer two different siZe soup bowls. Even the small bowls are plentiful for a meal. We will definitely keep returning to this place!

Catfish dish-flavorful but the fried catfish were thin and try. Sweet and sour dish was ok. Nothing special. Pad See Ew was good. Thai fried rice...boy do they like their onions! Fried spring rolls was ok. It came with sweet and sour sauce instead of usual sweet fish sauce type dipping sauce. Overall, decent but nothing special. Service was surprisingly decent compared to most Asian restaurants.

Oh my yum!! We recently moved to the area and have been on the hunt for a Thai spot....tonight, we found it! We ordered the spring rolls, tom kah gai soup, pad thai (with chicken), and the red curry with chicken. I cannot emphasize enough how delicious our ENTIRE meal was - from beginning to end. The spring rolls were fresh, the soup was savory, and our entrees were fantastic. The staff was quick and extremely friendly. Loved the ambiance and it wasn't crazy busy at dinnertime (which is a huge bonus). So so happy that we decided to go with the Yelp reviews that we read about for this place and try it. I am in LOVE!

We ordered thai take out on a Wednesday night. It was super empty and we ordered a fried rice, stir fry, red curry, pad thai and chicken satay to go. We had two mess ups with our order - first we asked for a beef basil stir fry, but they gave us two fried rices instead. Second, we asked for no tofu in the pad thai, but it came with it. With take out orders, it can be hard to ensure you are getting exactly what you want (also since a lot of the dishes are variations of Pad Pro Or Ko in them) so I understand the confusion. I was looking forward to the stirfry so it was quite disappointing though. I loved the flavor of the fried rice, we got the one with the stir fried basil, bell pepper and spicy sauce. It was really awesome! The pad thai was pretty good too, great flavor and noodles weren't over cooked. I wish it had some more sauce as it was a little dry though. The red curry was good but different. I am use to red curry having bamboo shoots and pineapple, but this had neither and had lots of eggplant. Also, I has for thai spicy, which normally is extra of the chili powder, but it was made with tons of chili oil and the top had about a half inch of oil sitting when we got home. I would go back to try the several offerings they had and make sure we got our correct order. Take out ladies were nice. I would go back to try it. Good flavors and fresh ingredients - just some mix ups

OMG Sushi here is really good, prices are reasonable, staff attentive and friendly. My second visit here and will continue to come back!
(5)Paul K.
I've been here four or five times now, all take out orders. The only complaints I have are no vegetarian spring roll options and if they say it's ready in 10 minutes go ahead and add another seven. Also, if you're heading there and feel like you're being followed, you're probably not. I only mention this because three of my visits have involved noticing a vehicle behind me all the way into the parking lot through multiple turns. I don't know how but there must be a Nashvillian consciousness collective that all wants Ginger Thai at the same time and from the same general vicinity.

I have been to Ginger a number of times and order to-go frequently. Of all the Thai places in Nashville, Ginger is the best. People talk about the Smiling Elephant, and i have been there several times, but Ginger Thai is simply better. Their curries are excellent and I love the Thai eggplant...something you do not get at the Smiling Elephant. Hands down, Ginger serves the best Thai in Nashville.
(5)Erin L.
5,000,000,000 STARS! :) I cannot get enough of this place! The service is wonderful (Mia always goes above and beyond!), and the food is so good I don't mind eating past the point of comfort sometimes. It is sinful how delicious the fresh spring rolls are. Dipping them in peanut sauce, and then taking a big bite of freshness is addicting. The bubble tea and Thai tea are phenomenal! Also, one new favorite is this coconut soup with chicken in it! Ordering it with rice and then drizzling it lightly with chili oil...maybe I need to go back there right now? I have a problem! I can't get enough of this place! Loooove it :)

When you walk in Ginger you know it's going to be good. The open dining room is well lit and nicely decorated. It is nearly always busy for lunch. Seating is kind of guided self service. Usually you get a wave and couple of tables to choose from. Service is fine. With two servers you sometimes get kind of forgotten and have to catch someone for a drink refill. The food is good. Sometimes really good. The Pad Ke Mao is my favorite and is very good with shrimp. One constant with Thai places in Nashville, the exception being Smiling Elephant, is that they pre cook the protein and toss it with the dish at the end. That saves time. Problem is that the meat doesn't taste like anything. I guess that the shrimp cooks quickly enough that it can be added to the stir fry. They do take the tails off the shrimp which is a plus. Today however I had two disembodied shrimp tails. Ginger Thai is very good, in fact as far as strip mall Thai goes I think this is the best in town. It's fast and has decent service as well as a pleasant place to sit and have lunch.
(4)April B.
I am a huge Thai food fan and this is the best in town! great food and great service.
(5)Tammy T.
We hadn't planned on eating here tonight but I'm so glad we did!! I order pineapple fried rice with chicken, ginger, peas, carrots and topped off with lime!! It was delicious!! And then I had a cup of Jasmine tea, it tasted and smelled divine. Lastly we had a dish of homemade coconut ice cream, YUM!!! We will definitely be back!!!
(5)Ali S.
One of the best Thai restaurants in Nashville. Many options for healthy minded people like me. There is also an awesome international food market next door if you are feeling adventurous enough to cook some international dishes.
(5)Sheena T.
I've been to Ginger Thai a few times and just recently went back for some take out food. I ordered the fresh spring rolls and the Pad Kee Mow, spicy noodle dish, with chicken. I was pleased to see that the portion was HUGE and there was plenty of food. It was spicy and had a great flavor, definitely a fan! I've had better spring rolls, but they were OK. It looks like they have added some space since I last was here and it used to be BYOB minus beer, but I think now they sell wine and beer. Cool. Take out was fast, tasty, and they are a solid option! I need to reserve full stars until I try the curry!
(4)Meredith F.
I watched my server making my boba tea as she put the spoon in her mouth to taste it and then return the spoon to my beverage. Then the beverage itself tasted terrible. Don't bother.
(1)Billy H.
I decided to try this place because of the reviews on yelp. I dined here on a Sunday afternoon, around 12:30. The dinning area was little over 1/3 full and there was only a hostess & a sever working. I ordered the chicken pad Thai, boring to some, but I enjoy it. The food took a little while to get out, nearly 45 minutes to get two orders of pad Thai chicken out. Overall, I enjoyed the chicken pad Thai, I am aware some put tofu in, but they seem to really pile it in. I would've liked a little more chicken & a little less tofu. My boyfriend got the Thai tea and he said he enjoyed it, sweet & flavorful.
(4)Massimo F.
Mah, I can't say anything good or bad of this place. The food was nice, ok. The service was really kind and fast. It's a cute and clean restaurant, but far away of being a legit Thai! It's ok if you are around there
(3)Charlie S.
This place is great. The people are extremely nice. For instance, they asked what our baby's name was when we got there and remembered it when they said goodbye and thanks for coming. But, most importantly the restaurant is clean, the food is amazing, the portions are large, and the prices are very reasonable. We have been a few times, recommend it often, and plan to keep going back!
(5)Stephen M.
My date and I were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant last Friday night. We were interested in trying a new Thai restaurant and saw the Yelp reviews, so figured we'd check it out. It took us a little while to find it, despite GPS, because Logan St. is tucked within a couple of mini-strip malls. It's ambiance is a bit lackluster and service a little slow, but the food was delicious and a good value. My date had the ginger fried rice and we shared a thai egg roll, and I had a catfish dish (my apologies for not remembering the name) we thoroughly enjoyed. I was able to finish the meal with a serviceable sake, and their modest wine list provided a suitable choice for my date.
(4)J R.
I finally found a Thai restaurant that is legit! I've been to three different Thai restaurants in Nashville and none of them compare to this one. I started to loose hope but then I came to the light at Ginger Thai Restaurant. I had the massaman curry with chicken and eggrolls. My service was good and the food was even better. I would highly recommend this place to Thai cuisine enthusiasts.
(5)Stephen G.
My favorite Thai lunch spot! Everything is wonderful and the server I always get is amazing!!! We come from work at least once a week!
(5)Jennifer T.
Visiting Nashville for work and just ate at Ginger Thai. Ordered Tom Kha Gai soup as an appetizer and thought it was a bit watery and too salty. I then ordered a Thai iced tea and it was great! I had chicken Pad See Ew and it was delicious. The noodles were cooked perfect. The servers were also very friendly and attentive. They offered me hot sauces and Hoisin sauce to try with the meal which was nice. I would definitely go back I stay near this area again!
(4)Gerardo G.
Good location with parking. Attentive service. I went in on a Monday afternoon there were good amount of people but not full. Service was fast. I got papaya salad, pad ka prow and pork fried rice. Every thing was tasty with great flavor.
(5)Elizabeth A.
Great food, fair prices, always good service. This is one of my favorite neighborhood take-out places!
(5)Reed P.
I wouldn't give this place 5 stars based just on the food, though they are easily a solid 4 or 4 and a half. But, with the low prices (6.99 lunch weekday special on most entrees!) and quality of food, this place deserves a 5. I love the pad kee mow, panang and pad thai. Their fresh rolls are great too, and they sell pho which even though I've been many times I've not had. This place is most certainly a hidden Nashville gem! Some of the best Thai in town that I've had at a very reasonable price!
(5)Cory G.
Ginger is within walking distance of my house and this is a dangerous thing. I love the lunch special they have. I'm a big fan of the Pad Kee Mao and they can spice it up to your desire. The spring rolls are great and I also love the Thai tea. Service is always great. The venue works well for a lunch spot and somehow has the feeling of a nicer place in the evenings. I can't explain it, but I like it.

Wednesday June 18th, Noel and I were both off today. So we went shopping for some much needed items for her new job..she has to wear business attire so we went to get her some new clothing for work and some new shoes. Tony stayed home to watch the kittens and Sammy, so we enjoyed a new adventure for lunch. We both are very adventuresome and we wanted to try some new cuisine...so we decided on Thai..so we stopped at "Ginger Thai" on Thompson Lane about a 1 mile from the home. I opted for "Chicken Thai Pad" something like that...lol!!! It's a rice noodle dish with bean sprouts, corn, chicken, cilantro and thai spices..she asked me if I wanted spicy, regular or authenic thai spicy..I said give me authenic thai spicy...she said "REALLY"..and I said YES ..she said "YOU SURE?"..I said..oh yeah I like spicy..Noel went with a PHO Soup with wide rice noodles, chicken and pork with spices..very yummy...when they brought the large bowl of soup we were like "OMG"...this Very Large...but it was EXTREMELY good..it all was.. We both went with sodas and ordered some Fresh Spring Rolls with shrimp and raw veggies, cilantro and lemongrass...very good with a sweet plum duck sauce..very good!!! Noel and I really enjoyed the food so much but the portions were so large, we had to bring it home...Leftovers for Dinner...it was very reasonable..$25 with taxes plus tip...awesome food, awesome service..we will definitely be back..I am so glad our First Thai experience was a GREAT ONE !!! I am so glad I read the Yelp reviews before I decided on one..

Ever since I taught English in Thailand, I have turned into a Thai food snob...I'm kind of proud of it. Ginger Thai is a hidden gem and is the BEST Thai restaurant in Nashville by a landslide. You'd never find it if you're just driving around, as it's tucked back in a shopping center behind a little gas station on Thompson Lane, but it's worth finding. The food is amazing, from your classic American fave, Pad Thai, to the curries (Panang is my personal best), to the entrees (give the Pad Prik Pow a shot) and apps. They make their Thai tea by hand, and are happy to substitute lime wedges instead of cream for those with lactose issues. If you have room, there's homemade Thai ice cream for dessert, which you can have served over warm, sweet sticky rice. It's like Heaven in a bowl. Seriously. If you like Thai food, this is a no-brainer. Come eat here.
(5)Ed K.
WHAT HAPPENED?! I used to like this place. NOW? Lousy service, thrown together food, bad after taste, bad everything. Then they charged us for the combo fried rice that SO nasty, greasy AND COLD it was inedible. I reminded them at the register. No budging. You're OFF MY LIST! I swear, the Oriental food in this town is NON-EXISTENT. Maybe, in my case, it's Providential.
(1)John D.
Best Thai in Nashville. The food is great, the place is really clean, and the staff is fantastic. They keep great hours, 7 days a week, and are open on most holidays. I have been a regular here since moving to Woodbine and the staff is always welcoming and incredibly friendly.
(5)Matt H.
This is a great place. Very flavorful food. This is my first time there. I asked for extra spice and the selections they gave were great. Highly recommended!
(4)Justin W.
Pros - clean, quiet, great food, good parking Cons - no baby changing station in bathrooms. I'm no Thai food expert, but the food here tastes great. With a medium to large party, I recommend dining "family style". We tried the Pad Thai, Green Chicken Curry, Thai Fried Rice, Roasted Chicken, Fried Garlic Pepper Chicken, and Coconut Chicken Soup. Everything had a distinct flavor and all the plates came out at the same time. The service was excellent and the restaurant was clean. While I would go back to this restaurant, I can't give it 5-stars because it's not exactly infant friendly.
(4)Tanya C.
Ginger is my new favorite Thai place! Food was delicious and the service wonderful. Highly recommend by some friends and it did not disappoint!
(5)Q Y.
Food tastes above average. Service quick. Staff nice. Very good option for workday lunch.

Now let me say I give this place 4 stars because I'm comparing it to places in Nashville, and I love the lady that runs the restaurant. I'm from the Los Angeles area and out of every Thai place I've been to (I've been to at least one Thai food place in every state I've ever been to. Yes I may have an addiction) nothing has come close as far as taste in MY opinion. But this place is good for your quick lunch with friends. The pad thai is my usual with spring rolls. It is good, not the best I've ever had but obviously good enough for me to keep coming back. The prices are decent for the amount of food you get and everything has always been fresh. They also serve boba tea here as well, now I've also been spoiled when it comes to this too, but I didn't really like it too much when I got it. Now it seemed like someone new to the establishment was making it so that could have been it, however the boba was too large for the straw so it was like blockage every time one tried coming up and the boba tea was blended but very icy like chunky. There's this awesome place in Brentwood that has some A class boba tea so maybe it's knowing I can get some really good boba in the area has kept me from going back to go at it again. But I just might! I'll update if I decide to.

After reading reviews on Yelp, I came here for a try. Whenever I come to a Thai restaurant for the first time, I gotta order a Thai tea. I tried different Thai tea at different restaurants before and they didn't cut it for me. However, the Thai tea at Ginger is quite yummy and refreshing, exactly what I was looking for! We ordered a fried fish (you can see it in the photos section), red curry, and papaya salad (regular one). The fried fish was good and crunchy. Red curry was average (I had better curry at Peter Thai and Sushi). I made a wrong choice by ordering the regular papaya salad, instead of the one with crab. I didn't like the taste of the regular papaya salad, I think I could make better one at home. For this I'm taking one star off. Parking wasn't a problem for me and service was excellent. I will come back here again to try the papaya salad with crab. 2013/#11

I had a long lunch break during my class at the Armory and I thought to myself - Self, I should take you to lunch. Do you fancy Thai? And my self said OMG I love Thai. Let's go! So I took myself on a solo date to Ginger Thai. Luckily the place was not very busy so I could get seated fast and order. I started with the Tom Yum Goong soup. It was hot, spicy, and extremely tasty on a cold snowy day. For my entree I chose Pad Kro Pow with chicken, medium spice. It was just enough spice, with really fresh peppers and perfectly cooked chicken. Served with rice, of course. I liked it equally as much as my usual Thai place. There's just something about hot, spicy Thai food. I could eat it on the daily. If only this place were a bit closer and less of a pain in the ass to get to from my condo, I'd put it in the regular rotation immediately. The waitress didn't bat an eye that I was alone and made sure everything came out quickly, including the check, but didn't rush me when I sat and read my ipad for a while. Plus I got to eavesdrop on the two gentlemen sitting beside me which was fun in and of itself. Ambiance was nice, sleek, modern, although the location in a strip mall didn't hint at this type of ambiance. It is off the main road so use that GPS and get yourself over to Ginger Thai. I know I will be back again and again!
(4)John S.
I think I may have found my new favorite Thai restaurant, which is not something I say lightly because I am a big fan of Thai Phooket. Everything here is done very well -- the service is good, the food is delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. The restaurant itself is tucked away in a little plaza on the corner of Thompson Lane and Logan St, so I guess its hidden location makes it not very busy, which can be good because when I went, we received superb service. This was the first time I've had gai yang (roasted chicken) in Nashville and it was done very nicely. Their rice noodle soup with crispy pork skin is also a must-try because it is absolutely awesome, though the soup is a little sour/tangy so it may not be for everyone. The drawback of having the restaurant in a little obscure place is that it might be easy to miss, especially at night.
(5)Andy M.
Love the feel of the place. The food is delicious and I have never had a problem with quality or service.
(5)Shawna K.
Best Thai food anywhere. Great value for great flavor! Very fresh and always looks beautiful.
(5)Alan M.
Great atmosphere, clean. However no kids meals. Very good food, flavorful, and nicely presented. I had the beef thai salad. My hubby had Pad thai and he loved it. Definitely go back
(4)jacki R.
Great place to go eat Thai food For reasonable price . It's clean and the service is great .i really like their red curry dish with chicken and fried rice .
(4)Steve R.
I don't know what happened this time, maybe different cook tonight , everything I had seem to be tasteless,. Fried rice very bland no meat . Curry no coconut flavor very very bland . Ordered the fried egg rolls I could not taste any meat at all posed to be pork and shrimp , it was like a Chinese egg roll no flavor. 1 hour drive to get here so disappointed. I am an American and can cook better than that , I'll be cooking Thai food at home from now on. I hardly ever give reviews , even their service was bad . Had to call the waitress to the table every time I wanted something
(1)Allie R.
Came in here at noon during the work week with four other people. It was packed! Our waitress took drink and food orders quickly and then....we never saw her again. The service was AWFUL. It was my first time here but the people I was with were regulars. They assured this was the worst service even they had ever experienced so this may be a fluke of a review. We never received the spring rolls (asked for them when our food was brought out, luckily they gave us a TON, awesome), two people never got their drink orders, and once our drinks were emptied we had to waive down whoever we could to get refills. It was ridiculous. Luckily, the food was awesome. I ordered the lunch special pad thai with chicken. Only $6.50 and the serving is huge! I loved it, it was everything I hope for when I go for thai food. We got the spicy plate to add a little kick to our dishes, yum yum yum. I so wish our service wasn't so bad. Hopefully I will get a chance to come back and update my review to a better, because I really did love the food.
(3)James M.
I will definitely return to this restaurant when I return to Nashville. The owners are from Laos, which isn't too far from my mom's hometown. I grew up on this "style" of Thai food so in my book, it's traditional. The Somtum was perfect, although I could done without the peanuts, I don't mind them. I ordered the Purple Egg Plant entree (Thai hot) it was awesome and I asked for Prik Nam Pla and they made it for me! This Thai Pepper, Lime, and Fish Sauce is a great complement for most stir fry dishes. Many restaurants don't serve it because the smell can me strong for other customers. I would give them 4 1/2 stars ONLY because their boba tea was average. I don't consider Boba Tea a traditional Thai beverage so for that I'd rate it a 1/2 star rather than a 1 star. Overall if you are looking for more of a traditional Thai Restaurant, definitely stop by! If you are there for business and have an AMEX card, good news, they accept it!
(5)Candice R.
Awesome salads. Order with a side of sticky rice.
(4)Alee R.
Great place for lunch. Food is always great and the servers are friendly.
(4)Heather H.
I went here based on the great reviews. I had a less than great meal. My pad thai was weirdly sweet, had tofu which was not listed, add seemed to be mostly noodles with very little of the add-ins I love, like onions and bean sprouts. My lunch mates had the beef broccoli and the garlic pepper pork. They were solid nothing spectacular. The ginger ice cream is a no unless you love love love the taste of fresh ginger. I will not be going back. Thai Star, which is just down the street, has a much better pad thai and more appetizer choices.
(3)Tracy L.
Pretty good Thai restaurant especially for being in Nashville. I live in San Francisco so have my fair share of Thai food. Service is a little spotty for not being too crowded on a Monday night. It is a great value and good quality food. I would come back the next time I am in town.
(4)Kati H.
My fiancé and I love this place. We eat lunch here ALL the time. I am even a little picky when it comes to thai food, but the fried rice or beef broccoli is always delicious with a thai iced coffee. My fiancé ventures out a bit more and has always liked every dish he has tried. One time they gave me chicken broccoli instead of beef broccoli like I ordered, and they brought out a free order of spring rolls to apologize. How nice is that?! They also give out these guava candies at the end of the meal...Yes. A thousand times yes. Definitely go!
(5)Veronique S.
The best Thai restaurant in Town. We tried several Thai restaurants in CA and this is the best. The food is excellent and authentic with no MSG added, you will not be disappointed and their curry, Pad seew are the bombs:)
(5)Stefanie P.
I was feeling adventurous last night, and thought to myself "ok, I'm getting a bit burned out on my regular thai joint (Phootket) lets try something new!" so after reading some yelp reviews, I headed to Ginger Thai based solely on Yelp! Reviews. Well, golly, you guys were on RIGHT ON. What a nice change up! It is a bit challenging to find, so just look for the Phillips 66 gas station, and turn in and its right there. There are only about 8 tables, and I got the last one (sign of a good restaurant). The place is very clean and I was greeted right away. It looks to be in a 'new' strip mall. The menu has some variety of choices, and some new Thai/Vietnamese dishes I hadn't heard of it, but I went with Pad Prik Pow (Pepper, Onion, Basil in spicy sauce) for $8.95 with chicken. The dish came out smelling of spicy fresh aromas on this super cute square bright white plate with the cutest little flower carrot on top (see pic). I took a bite, and was just amazed. I could taste the onion sweet, and the pepper spicy, I ordered "medium" and it was just that. A little kick! The sticky rice was so good, I gobbled it up so fast I ordered another helping! It seemed like everyone got their food in a timely manner, I counted 4 to-go orders as I was there and this wait staff was on it. They have a lower lunch prices on some limited choices starting at $6.95. I dunno about you but I get on these thai kicks and this one has shifted that kick into overdrive.
(5)Richard S.
Nice food! Slow service but was worth it.
(4)Robert S.
One of my favorite Thai restaurants. Service is always great. Food is always on point. A definite don't miss.
(5)Pete G.
I am visiting Nashville for a long weekend. My wife and I stopped here after visiting the zoo. It is nearby and had good reviews. We were not disappointed, the server was wonderful and the food was also better than I was expecting. I wish my town in NY had a restaurant this good. The noodles were fresh and sauce was spiced perfectly.
(5)Bret D.
I love this restaurant. I eat here frequently for lunch. Lunch prices are very reasonable and they give you a spring roll. Basil stir fry is really good but the best dish in the house is the crispy pork noodle soup dish.
(4)James William Otto Z.
Thai food is my favorite type of food. My last favorite Thai restaurant was in California. Since I've been living in Nashville. I was searching for a good Thai Restaurant. My friends recommended me to go check on Yelp. I saw many Thai restaurants. I check on the Reviews. So I visited the Top 3 on the list .Lastly I visited Ginger Thai. The food was Decorated Beautifully and Delicious and attentive service. I found my favorite Thai restaurant. ( Thank you Yelp for showing me ) :)
(5)Jas L.
Best place around nashville. Food was good price was good service was a little late but I won't complain. Try it if u r into thai or even if u r not.
(4)Travis A.
This place has the best larb I think I've ever had. Their Larb Gai is outstanding. It has a perfect blend of spices and ingredients... almost like every bite lets you taste each one in perfect harmony. Try it... you won't be disappointed. Their Mussamun curry is phenomenal. Perfect consistency and flavor all around. I like sticky rice instead of regular rice with my curry. While they have it, it isn't the best in Nashville... sometimes too wet, or not enough in my katip (little bamboo rice container). The chicken wings are good, but I'm not a huge fan of sauce on my wings. It was a good flavor, just not my preference. The papaya salad is available in both Laos and Thai style. The Laos is too fishy and the Thai is too bland. I'll stick with the papaya salad at King Market and Thaistar. One gripe I have here is the spiciness. I like things generally spicy, but not everyone I eat with does. Two times when I've eaten here and we've had different spicy levels requested on different dishes, the waitress has either confused them, or (I feel like)not even told the kitchen anything should be spicy. Next time I go here I need to try the pho and the lard nah. That should give me a better idea of this place on the whole.
(4)Jena S.
My boyfriend and I were craving Thai this past Sunday, and our favorite Thai place is closed on Sundays. So, we hit up Yelp for some nearby alternatives and Ginger Thai looked like a good bet. It is located right off Thompson and what makes it hard to find is that it isn't facing the main road. But get your turn onto Logan, and you should be fine. They have really good signage. The atmosphere was great and the staff was really friendly. They have the walls painted in warm colors with nice accenting decor. It's the kind of place that you feel comfortable in jeans, but could still dress up for a date night and not feel out of place. The menu looked good and we ended up ordering fried rice and pad thai. We both agreed Ginger gets an A+ on presentation! The plates looked so pretty when they came out. The dishes were good, with fresh ingredients and well cooked vegetables. The downside: the rice was bland and the pad thai was way too sweet. We also tried to order our food spicy level 4 out 5, but the server kept saying medium and we gave up arguing for spicier, so the food wasn't spicy at all for our taste. Overall, the food lacked the depth of flavor that I usually associate with Thai food. So, not a bad meal at Ginger, but I think our fav Thai spot still stands at #1.

Hands down...the best Thai restaurant in Nashville. It's the Pad Pak for me with chicken (spicy). If you are a seasoned Thai junky or just want to try something new...go there.

I live in the neighborhood and frequent this little Thai restaurant every time I'm in town. Love coming here and the food is fantastic!

It was my birthday and I have been have been craving a really good, promising thai restaurant. So my husband and I ventured out to Nashville for one, noting which ones had the best reviews via Yelp and which place had the Thai Beef salad. I live in Clarksville, TN and the only thai restaurant that served that salad had terrible reviews. I made sure I called this restaurant and asked in advance for the salad on their menu. I was stoked to find out Ginger Thai Restaurant did. Now this was my husband's first try for eating at a Thai restaurant, just for my birthday! Naturally I hoped he ordered something that didn't disappoint him neither. I ordered my salad with a spicy level of 5/10 and he ordered what I can vaguely recall as "Pepper Steak," which was sauteed steak with green bell peppers and onions. Both of our entrees were served with rice. To my surprise, he actually enjoyed it! Although each dish was $10+, the price is justified through the serving portion which was pretty huge for each. I enjoyed my salad as well, but the flavor from it wasn't quite what I was looking for. It was more bitter/salty than sweet/tangy like I had before. Still delicious though! Thai iced tea was perfect too. I loved the kind of ambiance of the place. The colors and decorations were just right for a hip/ethnic setting, actually kind of romantic even. There was music played, mostly pop music from what I can recall, and I do believe there was a TV flat screen or two as well. Service was friendly and up beat, mostly girls with easy-going smiles which I always respond better to. I would definitely love to hit up this place again.

Changing this because today this is exactly what i needed! it was cold, i was hungry and i needed some good food with a friend! This was close and i usually go to Thai Phooket, but i decided to give this place one last try. Four Stars!

The food and service was great. Will eat there again. {:-)

There masman was okay, not the best I had. But worth the money I guess if ur hungry. Good wings :)

Food here is yummy, some dishes being better than others. I liked the soup and their curry. I like the carrots that look like spaghetti. But my favorite item was one that was not on the menu, but they advertise it on a poster under the cash register. Its called something like "crazy tea". It is tea, with flavors (i got coconut) and milk, and a straw big enough to slurp the tapioca balls. Delicious:)

Okay, so it's too early to call this my favorite Thai place in Nashville just yet. It's sort of like going steady in junior high where ya try it for a while and see how it works out. I'm glad this is close to work so I can sample more from the menu. I started with the standard pho and fresh rolls, and found both to be better than most I've had recently. The service during lunch was fantastic, prompt and friendly, even as the place filled up in the span of fifteen minutes.

I wanted to try this place a few times before I reviewed it. I tend to value consistency as much as excellence. My wife and I took good friends last night after having been two other times. All four of us love Thai food and have sampled much of what Nashville has to offer. Without a doubt, this is our favorite in the area. Every dish we've had over three visits has been outstanding. We tend to always order a couple of long-time favorites and then add a new dish to try. We have yet to be disappointed. Our favorite curry and noodle dishes are always spot-on, and we've gained some new favorites by branching out. Service has always been great, and last night felt like I was at a comedy show as well. Our waiter was very quick-witted and kept us laughing all night. Thankfully, he was also attentive without being overbearing. Water glasses were always full, empty dishes and bottles were promptly removed, and he was very informative. I know it's not in one of the hot and trendy areas of town, but it is very pleasantly decorated, clean, and a great value. Our total bill was only $90 including 5 beers, 3 appetizers, and 4 main dishes. Normally there would have been leftovers, but we couldn't help ourselves and polished it all off. We live about 20 minutes away and pass several good Thai restaurants to get here. I don't think we will have Thai anywhere else from now on!

Being a HUGE fan of Thai food, I am always on the lookout for a new place to try. As soon as I found out about Ginger I had to go. Rumors of deliciousness AND close to my place? Uh, yes please! First off, the portions are humongous. If you're the type of person who loves to get the biggest bang for your buck... this place is for you. I tried the Priew Wan and it was out of this world. It was a delicious mix of cucumber, pineapple, bell peppers, tomatoes, and carrots in a Thai sweet and sour sauce on steamed rice. Bellissimo! *kisses fingertips like an Italian* As for desserts, they offer coconut, green tea, taro, or ginger flavored ice cream accompanied with purple sticky rice. I wasn't a huge fan of the taro, but the others were pretty good. All in all, I am so happy to see a delicious Thai place bring some life and some spice to Thompson Lane!
(5)Alexandra B.
This place was horrible. Good service, servers were nice, but the actual food tasted terrible. I had the red curry and all the vegetables and chicken had been pre-frozen. I ordered the spice level "hot" but could barely taste any spice in my curry. Very disappointed.

We'd been meaning to try this place out from the time we saw the storefront signage put up. After hearing our neighbors ventured there a week or so ago, we decided to go ahead and give it a try last weekend. I always get Pad Thai as my first meal at any new Thai place I'm trying. It's just the starting point I like to judge a place by. My husband is always happy with Pineapple Fried Rice and he was happy to see they had it on their menu. The prices were a little higher than Thai Phooket I felt like, but the quality was still up to par. We were very happy with our dishes and made a point to save half to enjoy later! I also asked for an order of spring rolls as an appetizer and I completely forgot that meant NOT fried. The spring rolls were a generous size and contained fresh lettuce, carrots, cucumber (I think) and a couple pieces of shrimp. The peanut dipping sauce was excellent. I couldn't finish the spring rolls as the taste was a little too bland for me even with the sauce. We enjoyed the calm, relaxed atmosphere in the space and from the looks of it they are doing a fairly good business! Lots of patrons in and out while we were there. Our waitress was extremely sweet and accommodating to my husband's many questions about exactly what kind of peas were in his dish. ha! I am pretty sure we'll be making a trip back here... soon!

Well I went to Ginger Thai on Friday for lunch with a friend of mine. It was bit crowded but we were lucky enough to get a seat. Ambience: The ambience of the restaurant was bright and decent. Although, from outside the restaurant looks small, they have good seating arrangment. Food: Ordered "Gaeng Pet - Red Curry w/Vegetables which was served with Rice". It was yummy and awesome! Pricey? I don't think for $6.95 you can get an entree with Salad/Spring Roll. So I am satified with what I paid for and what I got. Overall, it was a good experience with great food. I will surely visit this place again in the near future for their Green Curry.

Stopped in here on the way home from Florida. I had the seafood fried rice, the girls had a curried-chicken disk and some eggplant dish. It was all good and prices were reasonable. I will repeat should I ever pass this way again.
(4)Will M.
Decent thai/lao food. Pad see ew was good. pad thai was good. thai thea was good. Still waiting for an awesome dish to knock me off my socks. I really like the decor. I also like the fresh mangoes from the attached grocery store. Another grocer/restaurant, but this one is well done. The sticky rice was the dark kind and the mangoes were sweet. Although from mexico and had a lot of pesticides. My tongue was a little numb after eating a few mangoes that I bought next door. Oh the pain I endure for my love of mangoes.
(4)Eddy W.
We enjoy stopping in here for some good Thai food. We like it spicy and they accommodate us on the spiciness. Some places just don't do that when you say you want it spicy
(4)Brian S.
Lured in by all the excellent reviews, we made the trek to Ginger Thai about a month ago, l. The food was definitely decent, and if I were in the neighborhood and craving Thai, I wouldn't hesitate to go back...but I feel like there's some rating inflation going on here, and it's my job to fix it! Off the top, good luck finding it via Google Maps. My iPhone had no idea where the street was. Fortunately, I have about a half dozen different navigation apps, which isn't an overkill given how directionally-impaired I am. We started with an order of the bowl of the Tom Kha soup, which has become a staple of mine at just about any Thai restaurant. This was probably the best thing we ordered. A couple things stood out about it as compared to the Tom Kha at other Nashville Thai restaurants. First, there's a big lemongrass flavor you'll find in Ginger Thai's -- which was great for me as I'm a huge lemongrass fan. Second, the mushrooms tasted very fresh, and the chicken was tender. Third, the portion size was also pretty reasonable, which made me feel better about forking over ten bucks for soup. Also, we'd ordered the soup extra spicy. When our server brought it out, she also offered to bring some extra chili pepper. I asked her if she could also bring some prik nam pla (which is the bird chills in fish sauce, if you aren't familiar with this condiment), and she happily obliged and brought out some fresh. So, thumbs up for that too. The first entree was red curry. For those of you who have had a lot of red curry in different parts of the country, you'll know that some places serve theirs pretty light whereas at others it's pretty dark. I don't know all the differences, but one of them is the amount of curry paste involved. Anyway, Ginger's is a darker red curry, which makes it richer. Some people will like this and others won't. The other entree we tried was the ka prow (basil chicken), which was decent. Both entrees had reasonable portion sizes, and it was clear that fresh ingredients were used. However, neither entree really knocked our socks off in terms of flavor. We walked out with leftovers, which unfortunately didn't get eaten. They weren't bad or anything; we just didn't find ourselves ever craving them. If they had been from, say, Thai Phooket, I daresay they'd have disappeared within 24 hours. In summary, I think Ginger Thai is an OK Thai meal, but at least in my opinion, doesn't quite live up to the hype.

Ginger Thai has wonderful Thai food. The service is great and everyone is so friendly. They treat you like you are family! I have tried all most of the Thai restaurants in Nashville and this is one of the best. The Papaya salad, fried shrimp, Pad Kro Pow are my favorite dishes. Be sure to stop by the market next door when you leave.

So we were on our way home from Murfressboro. We were hungry, but we hadn't decided where to go. We were taking the Briley exit off 24, and somehow ended up on Thompson Lane (we figured out how pretty quickly, but that's beside the point). So we are driving along and suddenly I see Ginger Thai. The other reviewers are not kidding about it being a little hard to find. The only reason I saw it is because I happened to be looking in the right direction out the window. Suddenly we were glad that we had been going the wrong way. This is not a very big restaurant, but it has a nice atmosphere and is very clean. They were not busy at all. Apparently 4pm on Monday is a great time to go. Who knew? We were seated right away and were immediately given water to drink. There is a lot to choose from; this not a restaurant that just happens to serve a few choice Thai selections. There was stuff I'd never heard of on the menu. My husband decided to try Pho, and I settled on Pad Kee Mow, native Thai hot 'cause I'm good like that. I am of the belief that something is not truly hot until I feel like I've lost all of my taste buds and I'm practically crying while I'm eating it. My verdict (drumroll, please): after MAYBE 8 bites I thought I might have to go eat what comes out of a fire extinguisher. Did I complain? Of course not! I was elated! I ordered Thai tea (which I am addicted to), hoping that would ease the burn. For future reference, it does not. Neither does lettuce. Or sprouts. Definitely not water. Oddly enough, putting sugar on my tongue worked. Thank my husband for that. Now, all that was not to say that my dish was not good. It was very good. It was very hot, but it was hot with a very good flavor. I wish I could have eaten more of it. Don't worry, I brought that mess home. It will be even hotter tomorrow after it has sat in the fridge all night! My husband really enjoyed his Pho. I tried it, and I liked it, but I don't know that I would order it for myself. I'm not big on soup. All in all, a very good experience. I can't wait to try other things and hopefully bump my rating up to five stars!

Excellent thai. One of our favorites

Been here twice, and it has been excellent both times. The food is great, the service is outstanding, and the atmosphere is relaxing.

If you read my reviews, I hope you understand that I view food as a spiritual experience and occasionally I encounter a meal that I think may have originated in a higher place. Yesterday I tried Ginger and I think I went past the divine in to the sublime and oh my god, I don't know if I'll ever be the same. This is how it went down. My family came along and we ordered ginger tea and it was warm, spicy, and refreshingly delicious. Now I can't do Thai with out doing the Tom Ka Gai and well my father in law may have summed it up when he quietly moaned "I think this is the best soup I have ever had in my life." Next we ordered the duck noodle soup and I can't explain the rich depth yet delicate flavor of the broth. Simply awe inspiring. I am a green curry fanatic but our waiter (who incidentally made wonderful suggestions the entire meal) suggested that I try pineapple curry which was off menu. Again, I think I may have added and crossed that off my bucket list in a moment of sheer bliss. My son ordered Pad Thai which was quite good and my other children split a bowl of the chicken soup with udon noodles which kept them silently eating for unusually long time. The pause for me really is in that my taste buds were screaming for more and I found myself cursing the confines of my tummy. My mind is still reeling, I'm counting down the moments to when I can visit again, there was so much I wanted to try. For those of you who pride yourself on knowing the best Thai places in town, I would be surprised if this didn't make your list.

We normally get our Thai on at the Siam Cafe, but gave this place a shot recently. Overall, the food and service was good. The "native Thai" was a little under-spiced for our taste - but certainly not bad. We found the noodle dishes to be superior to our standby - but the curry didn't measure up - lacking the delicate citrus/sweet/spicy/sour balance found at Siam Cafe.

This is the Thai restaurant that I've been waiting for in Nashville. I've been scouring the streets for a place down south that does pad thai like the west coast and finally, someone has got it right. This place is tucked away down Thompson Lane and I would have never found it without my bf's Thai restaurant radar. This place has easy parking, great casual atmosphere and lively waitstaff ready to bring you delicious food. The pad thai is perfect- not too much or too little sauce. The tom kha gai soup is absolutely amazing. Generally, they are on the spicy side, so if you don't like spicy, make sure you tell them. I'm looking forward to trying the pho- while it's hard to beat my mom's, this place has done so well with other dishes that I'd be willing to bet they can get it right. So excited this place opened just down the road from me

4* the new best Thai in Nashville? 1. Location- pretty easy to find off thompson lane, parking is usually not a problem in their small lot 2. Inside- small but not tiny, clean orange decor, nothing fancy, definitely casual and welcoming 3. FOOD- large menu! And newly updated. Definitely ask what's good~ Tiffany always guides us the right direction. Of course our Thai friend was there to help us and judge the authenticity of it all~ 1. tom yum noodle- 4*this was mine, it's very flavorful already, so don't need to add alot of the additional seasoning they give you. Its hard to describe but it's sharp, spicy, flavorful with rice noodles, pork belly, and other goodies. All the flavors are so complex but really come together into something simple and clean~ making any sense?? 2. Yen Ta Fo- 4* rice noodies in red soup~ it was yummers and my thai friend approved with a smile :) 3. Duck salad- 3* I thought this was ok/good... abit too salty. My friend LOVED it though 4. Pho- 4* Thai Pho - yummalicious~ Lots of goodies with rice noodle and *legit broth. Will be back for more 5. Dessert- 5*Had sticky rice with home-made coconut and taro icecream- AWESOMEEEEE. LOVED the taro ice cream and sticky rice!!! Just do it. 4. Price- Good. They have good lunch deals as well. Can't really complain, but also not a steal~ 5. Service- great! Don't change please Will be back :)

My tummy is happy after a filling tasty lunch at Ginger. From the moment I walked in and was greeted by a server with a warm smile I knew I was going to like it. The restaurant was packed and I took it as a sign that I was in for something good. I ordered tofu pad thai and ginger tea. The pad thai, topped with fresh bean sprouts and peanuts is hearty without being heavy. The touch of sweetness from the tamarind sauce gave it a unique flavor that I quite enjoyed and want to try again. The serving is large (and yet I totally stuffed my face until I cleaned my plate) and ideal for sharing if you do take out. I also liked how well the food was plated. My husband's red curry was topped with a carrot carved into a rose atop carefully arranged basil leaves. Little things like that win me over. The service was great and we felt well taken care of by the friendly staff. I really like this little restaurant and I can't wait to come back. p.s.--thanks to all the yelpers on the Thai talk thread!
(5)Justin H.
I love this place. The staff is friendly, the food is great and the atmosphere is nice. It's definitely a diamond in the rough, and a bit difficult to find the first time you visit. I have tried a number of things, all we're delicious, of course if you want to play it safe they have some of the best Pad Thai in town.
(5)Jennifer B.
Love this place! The waitress always remembers us and is so sweet. We almost always get the Penang curry, and they let me substitute pineapple for potatoes, a trick a previous waiter told me that I love since I don't care for the potatoes. Pad Thai is also exceptional.
(5)Lashona M.
I love this place! I've been back 3X times since my last review all in the same week. The staff is always friendly and remembers me each time I dine in. Once, I remembered them recognizing me on Yelp and thanked me on my next dining visit for such a kind review. FYI, owners "DO" read the feedback and appreciate the good ones. As always, I ordered the tom yum soup and eggplant & basil with tofu dish. It's truly my favorite! I will say the last time I had the eggplant & basil dish here it was a bit oily and lacked the usual brown sauce! It was a little faulty error but I've dined here on numerous occasions in the past and this was only the first time it has happened. I'll just blame it on rush hour, it was crowded, and the clock was ticking to get everyone's order out. I also tried the papaya salad. For the first time, I tried the coconut icecream with sticky rice and I'm hooked!!! To Brian K, I'm not sure of any Thai or any other ethnic restaurant being located in a nice neighboorhood. Most are located in what many may consider poor working class neighboorhoods and these are seemingly the best restaurants in my opinion. As a matter of fact, most of these type of restaurants are located in these areas. If I didn't have my GPS, I'd probably be lost too on my first visit as I'm not familar with the area. Most of the food on the menu is Thai or Laos which is far from American so I'm not sure about your rational. As for the drink machine, some customers prefer bottled coke drink machines as an express service when ordering take-out or dining in because it is fresher and convenient. By the way, this restaurant does serve Red Curry and someone ordered it while I dined there last time. I'm sure if you ask, they will make it because they own the grocery store next to it. If they are limited on ingredients, I'm sure the store can replenish the supply. You can always send something back if it is not to your liking and have it redone. Sorry for the bad experience though. Next time maybe better. Give it another shot!! If not, that is okay too because everyone's palate is different. No offense here, I'm just an avid supporter of small businesses. :)
(5)Andrea R.
The food is great here. I had the pepper steak and the steak was tender, the peppers and onions were cooked perfectly. My husband enjoyed his beef curry and the spring rolls that came with my meal were crisp and tasty. My only warning is that the place is tiny.
(4)Oliver G.
Interesting location, love the green papaya salad, although the Thai style is a bit sweet for my taste. You can go with Laotian style which is full of fish sauce and hotter than hell but amazing. Good soups, main entrees, Thai beer, and service. In the immediate area, I think it's hands down better than Thai Star.
(4)David R.
Stellar Thai food. Probably tied for first place in my books (along with Smiling Elephant) as the best Thai in Nashville. While, I still think Smiling Elephant takes many of their dishes a few steps farther, Ginger Thai hits pretty solidly on all counts and generally wins out for us based upon a) pricing and b) available seating.
(4)Brian K.
It was difficult to find and not in the best area and the food was certainly not worth the struggle. Atmosphere was poor since the staff place a coke machine in the restaurant which is in very poor taste. I would of liked to see more items from thailand, rather than from our land. My wife and both ordered the Pad Thai, lamenting the fact that the restaurant failed to serve red curry which is what my wife would of preferred. We also ordered Thai Iced Tea. The tea was watered down, not to mentioned the regular water served was almost undrinkable it was so disgusting. The Pad Thai seemed too greasy and I didn't care for the amount of green onions. We also ordered some rolls which were filled with too much cilantro. The wait staff was very pleasant and the only good thing about the restaurant. She offered us a ginger snack which was nice, but didn't make up for the meal.
(1)Amber K.
I recently moved to Nashville and was looking for takeout the other night. I decided on this place and since I hadn't tried it before I figured Pad Thai was a safe choice. Now, I can only go by this experience alone, but it was the worst Pad Thai I have ever had in my life. How can Pad Thai be gross?! Based on the other reviews I'd be willing to bet almost any other dish is better here, but the Pad Thai was terrible. I can't comment on the atmosphere or service so much because I was in and out in less than a minute. I'm not sure I'd be willing to try this place again, but if I did I would get something else and I'm sure my rating would increase, but the Pad Thai alone gets a one-star.
(1)Rocky K.
Warning: this review IS slightly biased, because I do know the people who run this, but I am trying to review this as unbiasedly as possible. The family that opened this up is great at cooking. Trust me, I've known them for a long while. The food is fresh and delicious, and they have the upper hand with that, because they also own the grocery store next to it. So it is easy for them to get fresh ingredients at a good price, passing the savings to us! If you haven't had the fresh spring rolls with tofu, please do. I'm not a fan of tofu, but these rolls were delicious. The setting is intimate, perfect for a quick lunch, and the staff is extremely friendly and quick. Parking is also not an issue. And the decor is simple but yet very contemporary. Try it out; you won't be disappointed!
(5)Jeff J.
Best gai yang in Nashville. Oh wow.
(5)j b.
Great environment. Very clean restaurant. The 'coke machine' commented on by one reviewer is simply a refrigerator for coke products... which is very common in mom-and-pop eateries. The food is well made and served with love. Both the green and red curry are well balanced and filling. The Lard Nar Mee Krob (pan fried noodle with sauce) is hearty and offers many textures and flavors for one dish. Though the entrees are the highlight, they are certainly well bookended by great starters (house salad dressing is very refreshing) and a delightfully textured ginger ice cream. Will definitely visit again.

Best thai food I've had since moving to Nashville. Had the pad thai and tum yum noodle soup. Awesome stuff.
(4)Saugar M.
By far the best Thai restaurant in Nashville. We had previously liked both Siam Cafe and Smiling Elephant, but based on food, this place is the best. Its located in an almost hidden location off the road, so we were both surprised how busy it was on a Thursday night. The restaurant itself is small and the decor was definitely more contemporary than other Thai places in Nashville. Service was unfortunately the major weakness of Ginger Thai. The two servers seemed a bit overwhelmed by the number of customers and took a long time to take our order. When we asked for a vegetarian version of their fresh spring rolls, they came out with the shrimp still inside. Not a huge deal as they were easy to remove, but if either of us had a shellfish allergy, we'd be in trouble. Also, they didn't give us any water until we asked for it. Some basic stuff that they could improve on. We ordered the pad thai and the massaman curry, both with tofu, and they were both out of this world. A bit of warning to people who like to order medium spice at these type of restaurants, because medium at Ginger Thai is easily hot at other places. We both liked the level of spice, as we found other places tend to keep it too mild for Thai food. The tofu was of excellent quality. The portion sizes were very big, so you definitely get bang for your buck. Dessert was sticky rice and mango. Most places give you a small piece of mango and a lot of rice. Ginger Thai gave us half of an entire mango and a special black rice that was really nice. Overall we were happy and would return. Hopefully the management will get the service straightened out, since basics like giving everyone water and making sure vegetarian dishes are truly vegetarian, may not be forgivable to all. Lucky for them, we care about the taste of food more than service.

I enjoyed dinning in with my out of town guests. Food is great, but check your go order because my husband had fried tofo instead of steamed. He could not eat :(
(5)Brioche C.
Stopped in for dinner when passing through Nashville based on some really positive reviews here on yelp. What a disappointment. Although the servers were attentive, the food was the worst Thai I've ever had. The Tom Ka Gai was tasteless; no lemongrass, no garlic. The red curry was merely hot with no additional flavor. I had some, left the rest. The white rice was good (not dry). The Pad See Ew was slightly better. I totally concur with the opinions of another reviewer (Alexandra B).

Authentic Thai cuisine and very friendly staff!
(5)Brien W.
Had lunch here today after a friend recommended and it was great. Nice clean new location in a fresh strip mall just off the Thompson Ln / Nolensville Rd intersection. Had the lunch special chicken massaman dish with medium heat and brown rice. They served a spring roll as a part of the special and it was fresh and delicious. Main course arrived a few minutes later and was very flavorful and nice portion and perfect heat level. Place is immaculate and staff is friendly and attentive. Will return.

So the bf and I decided to go on a food adventure this weekend and try someplace we'd never been before. Enter Ginger Thai. We walked in to find punchy colored walls, immediate seating, and friendly service. We both loved the curries that we ordered (down to the adorable carrot flower that adorned each!). The bf was pleased that his order of 'native Thai spicy' was taken seriously-as many Thai establishments don't think he can handle that and turn down the heat. Also ordered Thai tea and sticky rice with mango (a personal favorite...takes me back to Chaing Mai every time!). I saved half of my curry for the next day's lunch and was so delighted that our waiter brought us a box and a side of rice to go home with me. Loved the experience here, can't wait to go back, and is an excellent value for the quality and amount of food that you get.

a friend discovered this place and so we went the other night, and i'm giving this one five stars for a few reasons. i've lived in thailand and have certain foods i love and others i'm not so crazy about, so i was happy to have a new place to check out. it's tucked away off thompson lane, so check the map about where -- it's nice and clean and comfortable, a welcoming little place. ok, the reasons for five stars: first star: the service. i loved walking in and we were warmly welcomed, because one of the waiters recognized me from the other place he works. then our waitress, whose family owns the restaurant and the grocery next door, was so helpful, making suggestions and telling us the difference between their thai-style options and their laos-style options (since the family is from the eastern issan of thailand, they have both influences). she suggested ginger tea with honey, which is without a doubt the best thing you could have on a cold winter night. the second star: they have khao soy on their menu. this is a noodle dish in a coconut broth that is from the north of thailand, where i spend a lot of time -- it wasn't what i'm used to in chiang rai, but it was still delicious and hit the spot. the third star: when i asked the owner if they had sai ooua, which is a northern thai spicy sausage, she said they did, but it was in her store next door frozen, and she'd be happy to go get some, defrost it and cook it for me if i didn't mind waiting 15 minutes. i decided to pass this time, and next time i'll call ahead or just go buy some and bring it home. they even have two styles of it in the store. what a find! the fourth star: the som tom, or fresh green papaya salad. this was as good as any i've had in thailand, tart and crunchy and we asked for a #1 level (of 5) for spice, and it was plenty spicy for me. super tasty and super authentic. the fifth star: when the waitress came out to bring me chopsticks for my noodles, she explained to our table how thai people eat (a big spoon in the right hand, and fork in the left to push food onto the spoon). chopsticks are only for noodles, but most thai places don't tell people that, and you have people eating their thai food with chopsticks which sort of annoys me, mostly because the spoon method is far better for foods with sauce and broth. my friends all had veggie and tofu curries, all so spicy that i wouldn't even dare to taste it, but they seemed to polish it off. oh, if there was a sixth star, it would be for the dessert! they had a special purple sticky rice with coconut milk treat, with purple and white ice cream on top-- and honestly, i have no idea what the purple was from, but it was fantastic. four people sharing it was just about right. go to ginger thai. it's awesome.

we just had dinner at ginger thai about an hour ago.. it was delicious! that was such a nice find in the berry hill/nolensville road area! thanks to yelp reviews which have all been good but one... we decided to not make our usual drive to east nashville and try something closer and we were presently surprised! we first got the fresh spring rolls (soft spring rolls with shrimp) with the normal peanut dipping sauce.. very fresh and yummy! then i got the massaman curry with tofu and my boyfriend got a beef dish, both came with soft fluffy rice and both were really good. the curry was just spicy enough with potatoes, carrots and yummy tofu! we are so glad there is a thai place nearby with lunch and dinner! can't wait to go back there again soon!

A terrific Thai restaurant. If you are tired of ribs and fried chicken, this it is. First rate. Loved the pho.

Great Pad Thai. Went there for lunch today. I ordered the Pad Thai, native thai hot, and it came out probably medium-hot by my standards. As I love spicy food. But I'm glad it did come out that way cause the wonderful flavor of their pad thai (as compared to others around town) mixed with a good heat level, was a fantastic lunch. Definitely recommend.

Noy Phongsavan has a Thai place that is low key and comfortable with two TVs to enjoy while eating. Her traditional Ginger Thai Restaurant is a south Nashville neighborhood asset. I like the Poh Tak soup with molluscs, shrimp and squid. Of course there are the usual padthai noodle dishes. Also spicy curry and ginger is represented. I don't eat sausage but a friend said the Ginger Fried Rice which contained that was a memorable choice. Prices seem about average for a Nashville Thai restaurant.

We went to Ginger Thai for lunch last Sunday. After seeing the reviews on Yelp, I figured that it was going to be super fantastic and I was going to love it more than life itself. I wish that had been the case. Thai is one of my favorite foods, and I am on a quest to find the best in nashville (my bet is actually Smiling Elephant-- which i have been craving ever since I went, and I need to write a review for) but I digress. We started with theTom Kha Soup--- really flavorful, really good. I liked the lemongrass flavor which was super pronounced. That worked for me, but it might not work for other people. The chicken quality was meh. We initially were going to order Mussamun (I love the potatoes) but our server told us we'd be remiss to not get the Pineapple Curry. We took his advice-- as he was really sweet and had lots of recommendations and a lot of enthusiasm for the restaurant, which was really great to see. We got the dish standard hot, and it was warm in spice-- not anything really intense, not anything really mild either. The peanut quotient was good, the sauce hearty, and the veggies were good-- but it mostly was just pineapple, red peppers, and chicken. I like a bit more variety in the flavor offerings. The Jasmine Rice was good, as was the Jasmine tea. Overall-- the service was the highlight of the meal, but the meal itself was only average. I may be back to sample some of the other dishes, but if the server was right and the Pineapple Curry is the best dish of the house, I feel I may be a tad disappointed.

As good as it gets. IF you like Thai food. real authentic Thai food then you must come to Ginger Thai. I decided to try it after reading a few Yelp reviews that fairly raved and my experience is they are right on. My girlfriend is Thai and I have spent time with her in Thailand. I LOVE Thai food and cook a decent bit of it for myself. I don't consider myself a gourmet but I do know good Thai food. Having recently returned from a trip to Thailand, I have been eating Thai almost exclusively for a while trying one restaurant after another looking for something that tastes like what I ate in Thailand. Let me tell you: Ginger Thai is the real deal. It's spicy. Done right. Fresh. Served quickly and simply excellent. Good grief... I know I sound like a "shill" but I can assure you I'm not. On this, my first visit I tried an appetizer of Tod Mun Pla, one of my favorite dishes (spicy Thai fish cakes). They were delicious and plentiful. Probably 9 or 10 small fish cakes served with the spicy chili sweet and sour sauce. Excellent; better than what I make at home. (As it should be!) I had a cup of Tom Yum Goong, a hot and sour soup with lemongrass, mushrooms and shrimp. Once again, authentic, tasty, spicy, delicious. For my main course I tried a noodle dish. I usually like to get a Red Curry Chicken but I felt like venturing out so I went for the Pad Kee Mow with chicken. I asked the waitress about how spicy things are. She said maybe you should try it as it is. "Well, how IS that," I asked? "Kind of mild I guess," she replied. "Oh. No. At LEAST medium then," I foolishly requested. Haha. Medium? Not to most Americans! It was very spicy. Not too spicy to eat but a little more than I would have preferred. Funny... at a nearby table I overheard another patron exclaim, "This is MEDIUM? WE LIKE SPICY FOOD but this is hot!" The waitress kindly apologized and brought out some steamed white rice to take away the heat and the patron and her dining partner seemed to be very much enjoying their meal. Word to the wise: unless you are Asian you might want to order the dishes here "as is" and then add chili to taste. Hey... just a suggestion. Bottom line? Best Thai out of easily 20 Thai restaurants I've tried in the past month. I'll be back. I think I finally found what I'm looking for and Im sure I'll be a regular at Ginger Thai. Hope you enjoy as much as I do. By the way... to the guy who wrote about the bad service and the coke machine? My food came out SO quickly it made my head spin and the coke machine is hardly obtrusive. I'm here for the food. I couldn't care less if there's a coke refrigerator by the front counter. But that's just me.

This was a nice suprise! Ginger Thai is a neat, clean, new Thai place just off of Thompson Lane and Nolensville Pike. The word of mouth will really have to sell this place because the location is tough - you cannot see it from the main drag. The food we had was really good and we will be back to try more. We started off with the Nam Kao wrap - crisp lettuce to go with salty and fried rice and ham. It was a good mixture, but could have more lettuce and less fried, as we ran out of lettuce quickly. We then had a green curry which was spicy but not crushingly so and was with tofu, which was the perfect firmness and well flavored, and the vegetables included mini eggplant and was not the bland mix typically found in generic green curries. The pad prikh king was with beef and was very flavorful, but the beef was a bit chewy, one of the factors that dropped a star from this otherwise great place. Next time I will have curry with pork. Around the corner is a gas station where you can get beer, since they do not have a license yet.
