As the "I'm too sexy" guy from Nickie G.'s review, I feel I ought to write a review as well: At first glance, the Corner Bar looks like your typical sports bar. Decent drinks and food with decent prices, but nothing to write home about. The decor is relatively ho-hum, and sometimes the smoke can get pretty bad. What makes Corner Bar great is the people. No specific clique or crowd rules the Corner Bar: From older southern gentlemen, to young punk-rock girls, to stealth nerds such as myself. It is a real come-as-you-are and be welcome kind of place, with reliable and friendly staff. When you combine the random crowd with a dash of weekend karaoke madness it becomes hard to pass up.

Just OK. Good location for people working at Vanderbilt. Drinks and food are fine. It is really small. Take some cash with you if you like to play pool. ATM fees are too high.

What can I say, I am a karaoke junkie. So when I was lured out on a Friday night to sing, I couldn't resist. I thought the atmosphere here was cool. Nice corner dive. It's ideal to grab some drinks, and have some fun with a goup of friends. But be warned, if you are going to sing you may have to wait a while (that was the only reason I didn't rate higher). I like the fact this was a bit off the beaten path. It was easy to find parking, and there was a decent diverse crowd, which is always a plus. Overall, I liked it and will return.

To tell the truth, I have only visited Corner Bar before shows at Exit/In. That's when they tend to be the most crowded! Drinks are OK--they have a full bar, and only slightly messed up my vodka soda splash of cranberry--but then I'm a bit picky. I still drank it! We did try their food--once. I won't do it again. Wouldn't think it's too tough to screw up a cheese quesadilla, but they were horrible! The chicken fingers (yes, it's basic bar food) were not great either. But, if you've already had a few drinks or it's really late and you are starving, it probably tastes a lot better! Big enough bar, good location. I'll go back--for a drink before a show at Exit/In, but probably not other than that.

I want to call the Corner Bar on Elliston a dive bar, but I think it's too established to be one, nonetheless at choice times in the day the crowd is definitely that of a dive bar. With weekly poker games usually happening, it always amazes me that even when the place is empty it still takes forever to get a drink. I'm not a big fan of Corner Bar, something about it just doesn't sit right, but it does have its redeeming qualities: 1. The outdoor patio, I love patios. 2. Downstairs can be a little escape from the bad aura of upstairs. With a pool table to distract, it's a good place to hang out with a group of friends you haven't seen in a while. However, bring all the booze that are going to want to drink for the night with you, because in no way can you expect someone to actually come down and ask you if you want drinks.

My girlfriends and I came here for my friend's birthday this past weekend. I wasn't really impressed by anything about it. Parking was difficult, it was extremely smokey and the Karaoke guy pissed me off. I was there for three hours, on a not-so-busy night and my friends and I were never chosen to sing. The DJ kept calling the same five people over and over. I went out after babysitting and was starving, so I decided to order from their kitchen which stayed open really late, at least until 1am. I got the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, which was described as fried. I got it and it was grilled with buffalo seasoning. It wasn't bad, but I would have enjoyed it more if I were drunk. I did however LOVE their french fries. I will go back for the french fries.

So my review about Corner Bar is negative based (almost) entirely on the trip I took on my 21st birthday. Before I go into that story, however, let me add my one compliment: they have free wireless. There. Now, on with the show. A few friends and I decided to start my birthday evening at The Corner Bar. The server came over, checked my ID, and put it back on the table. Now I don't expect him to jump up and down, but a smile would be nice. I'm at a bar, turning 21; it's the kind of thing they usually care about. He brought our first round and then disappeared. We had to spend the rest of our night crawling over the other people in the booth to go up and down the stairs to the bar to refill our drinks. It would have been a good tip night for him too. I should've just gone to Villager for the dog bowl.

Another sports bar! I suppose we have a lot of them in these parts. Corner Bar is a pretty run-of-the-mill type of operation. I haven't ever had their food, though I'm guessing it's relatively standard bar food and thus nothing special. You can get just about any domestic your heart desires for the prices you'd expect. The patio (as both Robin and Sharon have noted) is nice. In fact, it's probably my favorite feature of this establishment. Corner Bar's location is pretty prime, but I just find it nearly impossible to opt for the CB over the Gold Rush right across the street. It's just more my vibe (i.e. not overtly a sports bar). If I was still a sports nut (mind you, it's been about eight years since I've watched any sport regularly), this would probably be in my top three bars. Seems like a decent spot to congregate with the buds to watch a Predators game or something. If you enjoy sports bars, average-priced domestics, and an absolutely normal vibe, this could be your spot.

The Corner Bar at Elliston Place is just like Robin described it in her review it is a great accompaniment to the Exit/In music venue. At lot of people like to stop at the Corner Bar before or after a show over at the Exit/In. The Corner Bar has a nice outdoor patio, which is a good place where you can people watch the foot traffic on Elliston Place. The foot traffic usually includes lots of young hip types headed to the rock clubs. The End is just across the street. The beer selection is pretty regular. They serve lots of the standard domestics. I have heard this place described as a sports bar, so they do have TV's inside tuned to whatever sport is in season. I have always sat outside though, so I didn't really notice the sports bar vibe.

This place has an awesome 1/2 price draft special that is great to enjoy while sitting in the outdoor patio area. Even off special, the drinks are so cheap!! I am a frequent regular of this place because it is right down the street from work. In fact, the bartenders know my drink order from the moment I sit down! This place has a definite Cheers quality to it for the conversations you can have with the locals. Or, if you are like me, you can just sit down and hunker down with a textbook and a drink in hand. I also like bringing friends here for its low-key, dive atmosphere. Parking is pretty easy, too. If you're the type that likes entertainment, Corner Bar has a pool table upstairs, a couple arcade games, darts, TV screens with sports broadcasts, Trivia Tuesdays, and some karaoke and live music.

Not a bad place for decent priced beers. There's a patio outside where you can certainly pre-game here before a show at the Exit Inn. This place offers darts and they have a couple of pool tables. A decent selection of fried bar foods to aid your beer cravings - they even have my all time fave, fried okra, yum! This place can accommodate a lot of people if you're group is in & out wandering around the place. This is a smoking bar and the bathrooms are not handicap accessible. Corner Bar offers Karaoke on Fridays & Saturdays. Not too great for people watching though there have been some nights where I've seen some somewhat attractive people.

The drinks were normal prices ($5/beer) and the atmosphere was not as great as we hoped. It was very smoky and the music was annoying. We stayed for one drink. The redeeming quality was the big picture windows we could sit by for our drink.

I have been going to Corner bar for almost three years now. I have met a lot of friends there, that frequent and work / own Corner bar. If I go out in Elliston at all this is my go to. You could always start out the evening with dinner at Gold Rush/Samurai, and then migrate to Exit In for a show. Then Karaoke at Corner Bar on Every Friday and Saturday night from 21h30. Then hit up Cafe Coco for some sobering up :) Corner Bar has a great menu and the staff are always wonderful. I consider them to be good friends. In the odd chance they forget your drink - I understand they are busy and they are always accommodating and apologetic! Another thing I love about Corner Bar is the fact that every one comes in here. Its not the type of bar that only has a certain type of people coming in. You get that in other parts of town. (Midtown/Downtown). You will see people from North Nashville, Servers from Logans down the street, nurses getting off a long shift at St. Thomas Midtown hospital, punk rockers, people like me. Its a generally douche-free zone. Karaoke is the greatest - a good selection - I favor it more than other karaoke places in town. You can't beat the prices for PBR either. (unless they changed -I now drink Miller Lite due to the calorie content) but it was 2,50 $ for a tall 16oz PBR. That's what I call 25$ worth of a good night :)

This is truly a locals type place, and just the type of bar we look for when travelling. The bartender was awesome, suggesting the right kind of local beer that I might like from their huge selection of draft and bottle options. A smoking bar for sure, but just what you have to be prepared for. We met so many great locals in addition to the employees, who gave us valuable tips on where to eat, what to visit, which places were worth going out of the way for and which places to avoid. Pool tables, dart boards, and surprisingly clean restrooms are also a plus here. And the happy hour prices made this the best deal of all compared to all the touristy places not too far away. We will definitely return when in town again.

Karaoke dive bar in the Elliston Place/Vanderbilt area of Nashville. This has been a staple I in Nashville for as long as I can remember....think Cheers in a College town. Regulars, bar tenders who know you by name, bar Games, food oh, and did I mention karokee and wonderful people-watching opportunities... They have reasonable prices, adaquate seating...and did I mention Vandy students singing karaoke...

This place was fantastic. I checked it out for the first time on May 5th for Cinco de Mayo, and I couldn't get enough of how great this place is.The first thing was the size. It was the perfect size for a bar. Not only that, but they had a special going on for $5 margaritas, and they were delicious. However, the most satisfying moment of this visit was the server/bartender Nikki. She truly did make this trip worth it with her exceptional service and generosity. I always say that the service can make or break an experience. I was extremely satisfied with this whole visit, and I will return again.

Five star dive bar. I typically avoid dive bars these days, but for the Corner Bar I have to make an exception. They have pool tables, karaoke, poker nights, and corny bar arcade machines, but what brings me back is the employees. I come here regularly with my coworkers at the end of our work week. When we walk in, they have our drinks on the table within seconds. They always remember what each of us orders. Once a skeezy guy was annoyingly trying to flirt at our table, and Tory the bartender swooped in like a guardian angel to distract the guy into leaving us alone. Basically, this is the bar that Cheers theme song is about for me.

This place has the decor and vibe of a strop club in 1994, but without strippers. Bartenders are nice though. So that's good.

Hands down, the best place to grab a cheap and good drink with decent food and karoeke. Staff and owner are always nice as can be and service is quick. With that said, be prepared for Friday's and Saturday's to be loud with an eclectic crowd.

I had a great time at this bar. The drinks are reasonably priced. The karaoke that they so is amazing. I always have the best time. The servers are really nice and make sure to take care of you.

Non-smokers beware! The Corner Bar is a 21+ only crowd and so smoking is not only allowed by commonly practiced. If you don't like smoke, you've been warned. The Corner Bar suits its name. It's a pub-style bar that specializes in drinks and making people happy. No gimmicks but tried-and-true. The bar tenders are customer-oriented and will take care of your needs. It draws from a broad demographic so it isn't going to be stereotyped. Better than a sports bar. Manager Torre is a plus. He knows how to run a tight ship but also to keep it loose. Trivia night (Mondays) is not to be missed.

I like the Corner Bar. Because the owner is a former regular of Courtyard Cafe as well as one of the bartenders, it feels familiar. It's the perfect after work or low key place to go! Keep in mind, the drinks are STRONG! So, if you're a lightweight, make sure you have a sober ride and order something to eat. They do have a kitchen and they have a good menu. Of course, there are the bar food samples, but they also have different non-bar food, such as gyros, tater tots and fried pickles. The crowd is definitely diverse. From Vandy kids to working stiffs to the retired, it's not the usual trendy crowd. When you want a break from the normal West End- downtown vibe, definitely check out Corner Bar.

It is so interesting to see Corner Bar described as a sports bar because I didn't really get that vibe at all. I think of a place that is covered in TVs and sports memorabilia and they have the sound up when a game is on. This place was not like that - at least, not like that on Saturday night when I was there. That being said, they did have TVs on showing whatever sports happened to be on - like bull riding. Maybe on Sundays it is though - what do I know, this was my first visit. So we wandered in here because I liked the windows that went across two walls of the bar and I liked that I saw someone up singing karaoke. And it wasn't packed so we got a table immediately and started being entertained by the hipster singing "I'm Too Sexy". The same 5-10 people sang all night long pretty much but they were so entertaining that I enjoyed it just the same. Bad karaoke = fun times. The people watching in this place was also stellar. There were skinny jeans and ironic hat wearing hipsters, blue haired chicks, a group dressed like Santas and Ms. Claus-es on rock-n-roll crack, normal people, touristy looking people, rednecks, rockers, bikers, etc. No one group of people was dominant and it made for an interesting evening. Plus everyone seemed friendly so it made it more festive. Plus it was my birthday at midnight so I would have had fun no matter what anyway. The bar has an upstairs that is more like a "loft" that has a pool table, some booths and tables, and the bathrooms. I saw stairs that went down too but I am not sure what was going on there. I hear there's a patio that's great but it was too cold to even think about looking at a patio. The people waiting on us were nice enough, if lackadaisical bringing us drinks. Not to mention I definitely have had stouter pours of rum and diet coke. However, by the end of the night I was pretty tipsy so I guess there was SOME alcohol in them...but I also did birthday shots so that might have helped. Overall I liked the fun vibe at this place and thought it was a good time. I'll definitely come back when I am in the area and maybe I'll rock some karaoke.

I was visiting from Baltimore and staying at The Loews Hotel when we stumbled upon this place.. The bartender was very cool ( Brendon?), the drinks we good, and the food was cheap. Had a good time listening to karaoke as well. We had such a good time we came back the very next night. I highly suggest this place if you want to mingle with the locals!

Great local bar for grabbing a drink and meeting friendly people. Try their karaoke on Fridays, but expect a long wait. They also have Free Poker on Wednesday and Sunday nights. The owners are very customer oriented.

It's your local neighborhood dive bar. There really is no other way to describe it. Of course, you've got the nurses singing karaoke who just walked down the street from Centennial. There's the Vandy students who strayed a bit from campus. Lastly, the out-of-towners who walked down the sidewalk from the Exit/In who look lost. The Corner Bar isn't the classiest joint in town but it gets the job done. Beer and liquor when you need it and that's about it. If you're in the area and something close by is more convenient, then swing by The Corner Bar and see some REAL characters.

A really nice small bar with a big personality and atmosphere near downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The prices are reasonable and there are drink specials. I haven't tried the food yet, but am going to on my next visit. Very good service. My wife and I played the free Texas Hold'em poker the last 2 Sundays and really had a good time. See you all there.
