Best baklava in Nashville . Best customer service ever ! They now serve hookah at night . The hookahs are a good price And it's a really chill environment! They have Vip rooms as well. Me and my friends go every time ! Best place in Nashville

There's baklava and then there's this place. The baklava here is amazing. I used to think that it was all the same, but after experiencing Turkish Baklava at it's finest, I realize how wrong I have been. There's really not much to the place. However, the staff is always friendly and they are very knowledgeable on what they are selling. They charge by the weight, so be prepared to pay by the pound. The location is hard to spot, but once you've been in and tried it, you'll always know where it's at. Love, love, love, love this place.

I have seen this store as we would be driving by. Today was the day we stopped to check it out. They had so many pastries to choose from. The one I tasted while driving was delicious. Can't wait to try the other ones out tonight

Very plain on the inside. And out. But the baklava and other pastries are very good and I think fairly reasonably priced. A little over $7 a pound. And the woman who waited in me was very helpful and patient as I decided which treats I couldn't live without. :)

Baklava! The largest variety of Middle Eastern baked goods I have seen! Baklava in so many varieties, I think they even had one called "House Wives Baklava". We got EIGHT different Pastry Desserts including: Rose Baklava, Knafeh Cheese (that is the Orange colored one), Cashew Baklava, Klaj with Cream and Zenood al Sitt with Cream... All were good most were Excellent! The Bread looked Fantastic too!!! One of the Guys working here (probably the Owner) was Extremely Friendly and helpful he asked us to let him know what we would like to taste and made some helpful suggestions! We only tasted a few items since we felt confident with how good everything else looked!

Expecting a fabulous den of Baklava. Bought two pieces, quite large $5 but they lacked layers and taste - just a bit of a flat gooey mess. Bad baklava day, will try again.

I went in yesterday for a treat and everything was wonderful as always. I had some new to me items that I really liked - one looked like baklava but was cream filled (don't think sickeningly sweet cream or pastry cream filling) that was a perfect contrast to the crunchy honey soaked filo. Also got a rolled version that was similar. Birds nests are probably my favorite. They were low on things but it was a Saturday afternoon so I figure I just hit them at the wrong time but everything I got was every bit as good as the first time I went.

After months of searching for a middle eastern bakery in Nashville, I recently discovered Basmah. I consider this the treasure on Nolensville Pk. They have my favorite dessert, Kanafeh, both cheese and pistachio. Absolutely delicious. The owner is very friendly and allowed me to sample the items before I purchased anything. If you are in need of a middle eastern sweet treat, I highly recommend a stop by Basmah.

I am a fan of Basmah Sweets and Pastry shop. For weeks when it first opened I would drive by and wonder....ummm what is in there? would I like it? then I would scare myself about trying something different...what type of sweets or baked goods would this be?/ So finally one day, I bucked up my fear and went in...and THANK GOODNESS I did!!! I love the sweets here.. The worker /owner was very friendly, answered all my questions and allowed me to taste the sweets before I purchased any. I would definitely have to write the unique names down because I forget so easily. I enjoy the Baklak the most...figs, apples, nuts, sugar...and pastry dough...very very very good!!! I have been a few times now and I always end up with the same thing...even though I taste tons of stuff that are really good...I guess I am a creature of habit. But I will go back again and next time share some photos of the great sweet treats!!!

The new name of the place is Baklava Cafe & Bakery for those wondering. I have gone by this place for months and finally decided to check it out. I got a few items and they were very good! It was very fresh, nice crunch and flavor. The sweetness isn't overpowering, but a great balance. This is a great place to grab a desert or something sweet and filling for breakfast. Give it a try if you drive by and wonder what it's like. You wont be disappointed.

The only reason this doesn't get five stars is the variety was kind of small. There was a bit of display case empty so I'm not sure if they normally have more on the weekends or evenings. I guess having a smaller selection just means that they are able to focus on making what they do offer very good and fresh, which they were. As other reviewers said, the person who waited on me was very kind and as it was my first time coming into the store practically made me sample things before i bought them. No complaint here. :) Everything I tried was wonderful. Very juicy middle eastern donuts, tender flaky baklava of multiple varieties. do not, I repeat, DO NOT overlook the cookies to the left of the cash register. They may look plain and unassuming, which is why I only got one almond one, but the one I got tasted of air and awesome. It was light and practically melted in my mouth with flavors of rose water and almond. um num yum!!!! I will be back here and if you haven't been you should go.

After another Middle Eastern bakery nearby closed, I have been longing for another Middle Eastern bakery in the area. To my delight, and my diet's despair, this one popped up recently! My husband and I visited there one night on our way home from the art crawl to discover display cases full of phyllo dough treats, many kinds of baklava, maamoul cookies, as well as Latino style pastries (conchas, empanadas, etc.). All items are displayed behind glass, so all you need to do to order is point and say please. To be honest, I still have no idea what the names of the different pastries are (perhaps I will go in with a notepad one day and write it all down). Middle Eastern style pastry tends to feature nuts, honey, dates and figs, and rosewater, and phyllo dough, among other things. Don't come here expecting chocolate chip cookies--or really, any chocolate or American style sweets at all. They had baklava of many different kinds (cashews, pistachio, walnuts), as well as a baklava like pastry that was filled with cream cheese. They had different kind of maamoul - date or fruit filled cookies (think of this as a fig newton, only legit and not at all nasty like a fig newton). There are also fried dough-balls comparable to donut holes floating in a sweet syrup, a lot of pastries made with shredded phyllo dough, and one that was almost like a coconut fudge. . Don't come here expecting to find any The owners were very friendly and kind to us, and gave us many samples of their delicious pastries. They were also proud of their Latino style pastries (the owner showed off some of the Spanish words he has been working on), but I didn't purchase any of those items. The second time I visited, I noticed those items were conspicuously absent. The owner explained to us that they have different treats on display each day to add variety, so this place must be visited multiple times! There is a small area to sit here and enjoy your pastries, but I think most take them to go. If you wish to stick around, I believe they would make some tea or coffee, or you could pick up a drink from their cooler (which features glass bottle Mexican cokes = no corn syrup). Their business card indicates that they take credit cards and food stamps (Food stamps? Seriously? This is what is wrong with America. If I were on food stamps I would eat this stuff all the time). Quite frankly, this place is amazing. For those who have a sweet tooth but are unfamiliar with Middle Eastern style pastries, just go here. The owner will take the time to give you samples of anything you aren't familiar with and want to try, and a whole new world of sugar-high will be opened up to you.

I went here because I was looking for real baklava. The selection was nice but not as such where they keep busy to carry a wide variety. The baklava was good and if I ever want more, I'd go back.

Love this place! Definitely worth trying...

Really great! They have so many different versions of baklava, and so far, they've all been great. Turkish coffee is really good here, too. Thought about 5 stars, but after some discussions with the wife, we decided on 4. Really good.
