The muffins are good - particularly the pumpkin and chocolate chip variety - but it's the amazingly friendly service that blew us away. The proprietor (Anne, I presume) is the sweetest and most welcoming Nashvillian we've met in a while - and that's saying something. Do keep in mind that Anne's primarily sells products wholesale to cafes and restaurants. So while you *can* buy individual muffins, you cannot buy a single slice of cake - just an entire cake or pie. So throw a party or invite over six of your closest friends. It's a great excuse to buy a cheesecake. :-)

The strawberry cake from Anne's is truly to die for. We started eating it many years ago at Sperry's with my grandmother on her birthday. She started a tradition and now we celebrate every birthday there. Last night we asked about the strawberry cake and our waitress told us the secret-Anne's! It is a not too sweet, just right pink confection with thick layers of strawberry icing that melts in your mouth. It would tempt anyone. YUM! I am so glad I know about Anne's now and can try more of her treats. :)

I've never visited the acutal bakery, but I cannot count the number of mornings I've started with one of her muffins and a cup of coffee at Sam and Zoe's. (Although the last time I was there I didn't see them, sad face) I still swear the pumpkin chip muffin helped me get through the GRE test prep. It's hard to miss the muffins when you enter a local shop in town. You'll see them clustered together lovingly, with plastic wrap, and the stickers I swear I can see across the store. I'm like a hawk once I get locked in and I realize that that my favorite muffin is just a few feet away. I always have to buy one. I also need to stop by the actual store and see what else I can get myself addicted too.

Her Coconut Cake is the Bomb. I went to Charleston last year just to get Bon Petite Best Coconut Cake at The Peninsula Grill!! Well Anne's cake blows that one out of the water.

So. Well. After eating Anne's muffins a few times, I was lucky enough to be at dinner party where Anne's Coconut Cake was served. I despise the texture of dried coconut flakes. No matter how much I don't like the texture I could not stop eating the slice of goodness. The Icing: Perfection, not too sweet, but sweet. Airy, but not fluffy. The Cake: Moist. Tender. Moist. Rich Flavor. Moist. Perfection. Good grief. It was awesome.

I'm not a big muffin person, too many calories for not enough goodness - I'd rather have a cupcake. But Anne's muffins are SOOOO great! (insert snide joke here with apologies to Anne) I had no idea she had a storefront - thanks Yelp - I could grab treats from & it is ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. Dang. Before now I just grabbed a delightful option like almond shortbread from my local coffee shop.

Love, love, love. I became addicted to the strawberry cake from Anne's at Boxwood Bistro (now gone, sigh) and they let me know the origin. A birthday with a whole cake from Anne's Cakes is a GREAT birthday, and well worth the slightly incremental price for this versus a grocery store cake or other bakery. Super friendly, super nice, when picking up cakes I've heard nothing but raves from other patrons doing the same and swearing by the many other flavors, so I think I can safely say there's no way to go wrong here. Call, order, be patient and flexible, and enjoy.

i have been buying cakes from Anne for almost 10 years. Her Chocolate Zucchini Cake is something from the gods. A moist masterpiece of chocolate and creamy white frosting. Her Strawberry cake tastes like it was just picked yesterday. Anne is simply awesome. Super friendly. She loves what she does and her positive attitude is intoxicating. She is an incredible part of the Nashville foodie scene. Let them eat cake! The whole thing. Anne only does wholesale and whole cakes. So grab a gallon of Hatcher Family milk and a fork. Her muffins are unreal as well. The lemon muffin, is my favorite, for sure.

Im a massive fan of her Almond Short Bread. This company is owned and ran by the sweetest people I have ever either done business with or bought from. A local baker who truly gives a damn about her product and customers. I highly recommend grabbing a muffin at many of the locations around town that carry them. Im a fan of every person that I have come across that works at this place.

Anne is the baking culinary genius that supplies greater Nashville restaurants with their cakes and muffins. So if you ever need a whole cake (think chocolate truffle or orange spice not sheet cakes that say happy birthday and are covered with gross icing flowers) or your pumpkin chip muffin fix this is the lady to see. She will gladly sell you some of her wares out of this kitchen for a big discount (considering what you would pay for the same thing at your local coffee shop). Call her or stop by for a full menu of cakes. You will be glad you did.
