Best BBQ in murfreesboro, but Martin's in Nolensville is better. I'd avoid the wings, they're a little dry. Other than that, it's pretty good for the price.

I've eaten at Slick Pig for as long as I've lived in Murfreesboro. Food has always been fantastic and service is usually great. Their specials, especially $1 pork sandwich on Tuesday, are usually pretty good. Today we got the "Tailgate Special" which included 1lb pork, 8 count buns, sauce, two sides and 20 smoked wings for $28.99. The amount of food for the price was very reasonable. Everything tasted great, especially the wings. Very smoky and tender. The only downside on this visit was the service. Most of the employees were preoccupied staring at a car outside and the cashier was not paying attention at all while taking our order. Then we had to endure her scolding the other employees. I understand everyone has bad days but altercations like that should be private, not public. I much prefer my interactions with the owner, he's a very nice and helpful guy. Of course I'll keep coming back for the food, no BBQ in the city can match it in my opinion.

Hole in the wall BBQ joint in the middle of Murfreesboro. When I say hole in the wall, i really mean it. The place is what you come to expect of a classic southern BBQ shack. right down the comical dilapidated restroom and gaudy checkered table covers. The sole reason for my venture to the Slick Pig was to check out the hickory smoked wings. I'd heard a lot about them, almost to the point of overhype. I was cautiously optimistic but I have to say they really exceeded my expectations. The wings were tender, juicy, and had a stellar hickory flavor. Best of all they are super cheap at .80 each. I was very impressed. Sad to say I was less impressed with the pork BBQ. I opted for the pork sandwich with cornbread which subs corn cakes for the bun. I like concept as those two things go well together but I wasn't really feeling the pork. I like my pork with lots of hickory flavor and lots of bark but what I was served was lacking on both those fronts. It still wasn't bad though... just not as good as the best I've had. There a host of other things on the menu and all of it is very well priced... and by well priced I mean it's super cheap. Come for the wings. it's worth it.

We decided to stop here for a late lunch today and it didn't disappoint. Great food and a great atmosphere. Looking forward to coming back.

We ordered the family meal and really enjoyed it. Loved their potato salad and beans. We'll definitely be back!

Welcome to the south! This is where the locals come. Great service, great food, and the sweet tea great. Nuff'said.

I have to tell you, when my son first pulled up here I was ready to tell him "no way". But don't be fooled. Great food. Even the teenager was impressed.

Coming home from Nashville and was craving some bbq, so we stopped here. They weren't open yet, but they still served us. Not many people will do that. The pork was juicey and the bbq amazing! I can't wait to go back!

This place is everything you want in a BBQ place. Good food, good sides, and a lot of love for the locals. A lot of love for MTSU. The wings are my favorite thing on the menu... their are smoked and they are glorious

I like to try and differentiate my reviews, but in this case it's no use. Like everyone else said, the wings are King here. The BBQ is good and so are the sides, but I come here for the wings that you can't get anywhere else. They are smoked and the 10-piece plate comes with 2 pieces of garlic bread and two sides. It is healthy (or un-, depending on your point of view) amount of food. It's a local place and very casual. Potato salad has a bit of mustard in it that made it unique. Cole slaw is cream-based and reminds me a little of KFC's slaw. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

We went for lunch on a Friday around 1 pm. It wasn't very busy. My husband and I shared 10 hickory smoked wings, small side of coleslaw and a small side of French fries plus 2 drinks. Total came to $16 which I thought was pretty expensive. Next time we will order gom the lunch specials as those seem like a better deal. The wings were a bit dry but the sides were good. I also ate the banana pudding for dessert which was delicious. The pork sandwiches looked really good. Can't wait to go back.

Most popular bbq joint in Mursfeesboro (or Murfesbura, as the locals would say it). We popped in during a quick dinner break between housecalling and it was packed with families. Everyone is snacking on the platters of free peanuts at every table while waiting on the food to come zooming out. Line moves quickly! I got the full rib plate (half would have been smarter, but eyes are apparently bigger than the stomach. Just enough fatty trim to give the ribs flavor, though I would have liked less of the burnt ends. Charcoally and tough, it still wasn't enough to detract from the ribs. Sides are almost healthy tasting here compared to other places. I had the cole slaw and it was on the lighter/tangier side. The white beans were a little on the saltier side, but had a nice flavor. Tables outside and in the back for nice days!

I visit slick pig at least 3 times a month! I have never been unsatisfied with anything I've ordered! My favorites are the smoked wings and freshwater catfish!

Slick Pig is worth getting off the interstate to try. I have been here twice while visiting Murfreesboro for business. Each time I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the barbecue! Excellent banana pudding as well!

By far the best BBq around. I lived in memphis for the past 8 years and just moved back to the area and I would have to say that Slick Pigs bbq was by far the best best I've had in years. Down to earth place and great staff. I would recommend it to anyone. Will return!

Our very favorite BBQ! We love all the meat choices as well as the sauce. A little bit of heaven right in Murfreesboro!

This was our first time visiting Slick Pig and wow is it good! The smoked wings are on point and the BBQ chicken sandwich is delicious! They have daily specials, you can't beat a 99 cent pork sandwich! We were full and happy when we left and will definitely be back to indulge again!

It was by chance that we found ourselves here on our way to Nashville after a late tour at the Jack Daniel's distillery in Lynchburg. It must have been fate... As I got out of my car the first thing I see is "$.99 pork sandwiches, Tuesday only" painted on the window. Being from NY, where anything worthwhile seems to cost far more than it's worth, this was a red flag. But when we got inside my misgivings melted away. We were greeted by a couple sitting by the door with a hearty "Hello" and "sit wherever you like". I later realized that the woman worked there and was just chilling with one of the regulars. When we ordered our food I became slightly distracted by the smell of all things BBQ, and sort of lost it because I proceeded to order the pork sandwich AND the half rack of ribs AND one of each side. Kelly got the fried catfish. The sweet tea was the perfect compliment to the meal, as it seems to be for meals we've had down here, and the refills are free! The sides were also very good and were a perfect compliment to the meal. I even liked the thick white bread that Kelly got with her catfish. It helped me soak up all the fork-shy bits left on my styrofoam plate. The pork sandwich was good. The pork itself was ok, maybe a tiny bit dry, but you can soak it in some of the BBQ sauce at the table. The awesome thing about this sandwich is that you can have it served between two cornmeal pancakes as the bun! That's what made this sandwich for me. I would gladly pay $.99 for this on Tuesday. I'm pretty sure I didn't spend much more than that at full price, so it's a deal either way. The ribs left me a bit speechless. Since I started writing reviews on Yelp I've started to think about the food I eat more than I probably should. This meal brought me back to a simpler time. A time when the world around me seemed to disappear when in the presence of delicious food, when I didn't care about how much of a mess I was making and I wasn't trying to figure out what I was eating. I both couldn't wait to take my next bite and wanted to savor it all at the same time, and I almost didn't feel the pain as my stomach stretched to accommodate it all. Long story short, the ribs were amazing. Melt in your mouth, fall off the bone amazing. You would be hard pressed to find anything comparable elsewhere without a lot of ridiculous fanfare and hefty pricetag. As much as I love the BBQ joints in BKLYN and Manhattan, this is a pig of a different color. Keep trying, hipsters, you may one day catch up, but it'll never be $.99... Some tips: Bring an appetite, you'll want to eat a lot. Tip generously, it's well deserved. Don't be a pretentious douche and wear your blue-tooth headset while ordering (you know who you are).

Awesome! Had the mild smoked chicken, a Cajun fish sandwich and the ribs. We ordered ahead while driving by and added ribs at the the last minute no drama! Everything was packed and ready when we arrived. Nice and polite folk behind the counter.

I used to swing by here after taking call at the VA in Murfreesboro when I was in Med school. The outside is a bit sketchy, but really, they don't need all of the smoke and mirrors other places have. It may be called "The Slick Pig," but the Smoked Wings are the BOMB. I would try my best not to eat any on the way back to Nashville, but the steering wheel would ALWAYS get all greasy (I couldn't help myself) I did branch out a couple of times and get the pork sandwich, which was also very good, but harder to eat while driving!
(5)
Charles S.
Well, I made it back in for the smoked wings. 10 wings for 7 bucks is a heckuva deal, and 7 bucks for THESE wings makes me feel like I'm stealing. I would prefer them spicier, but the smoke flavor is excellent on it's own. Next time I'm tailgating an MTSU game I will definitely pick up some of these wings.

The Main Reviewer X.
If I was basing my review off of just the potato salad and wings, it definitely would have been 5 stars! They have struck gold with those 2 menu items. Both are the best you will find anywhere. The reason I only give 4 out of 5 stars overall is because the rest of the food is pretty good but not outstanding (although the pulled pork is just ok), the building and interior really needs to be refreshed, and some of the staff can be "not that friendly" The owner John is a great guy though and was awesome to us when one of his employees screwed something up for us so he definitely knows how to value his customers even in some of his employees don't. I can't stress enough how much everyone who can, needs to go try their wings and potato salad. It just doesn't get any better than Slick Pig's!

First thought while walking up to the door, "Really? This is the place? Well its hella busy, I guess that's a good thing!" Although plain looking, I am reminded of the saying don't judge a book by its cover. The smell was enough to snap me out of it...it smelled wonderful! Okay, the food here is awesome...hands down. The wings don't really have a 'sauce' or anything traditional; instead the wings are smoked and boy they are magnificient! I also had ribs and they are probably the best ribs that I have had. Meat fell off the bone, the sauce was delicious, and you get a good amount. I tried a few sides, mac & cheese, baked beans, white beans, potato salad...every one of them I wanted to order a gallon more... AND YOU CAN! Seriously! Gallon is a size on their menu for side orders! Unfortunately for me, I'm traveling and have no where to put it...or I would! I have been coming around here once a year for a competion, and can't believe that I have missed out on this place until now! I already can't wait for next year!

I found out about the Slick Pig as a student at MTSU. Needless to say on the outside this place looks a little run down and is easily missed (it took me 2 years). If you can get over the decor you are in for a real treat. The menu is simple, the prices are low and the food is delicious. I recently went back to Nashville for a convention, and talked my co worker into the 30 minute drive down to Slick so I could relive my old favorite, 99 cent pork sandwiches. We ended up feeding 2 people for 12 bucks. I was back in heaven. If you want the real BBQ experience, skip Famous Dave's, Smokey Bones and Bar B Cutie, and head to the Slick. Simple, Tasty, and AMAZING.

Ridiculous man food. All I could think about were the scrumptious smoked wings soaking up the dressing. I couldn't sleep, I find myself obsessing over the main dish and this new ridiculous diet. I liked the available sides. Even offer homemade bread pudding, and I prefer mine warm, so didn't try it. I hear all their food is real good. Didn't like the fluorescent lighting, crt tvs playing sports, and that they close at 8, but the smoked wings are quite memorable

My family and I have been going here for the past 4 years and we never get tired of it! There are absolutely no frills with this place... Just straight up good food with plastic forks! The first time I came I tried the smoked wings and I thought I'd died and went to heaven! Then I came back and had the ribs... Oh... Those ribs ARE heaven! Just a word of warning... Don't eat their ribs unless you plan on laying around for the next few hours! That's when you know it's good. The sweet tea is excellent and so are the sides. The food is incredibly cheap, and they have a few new things that are pure mouthwatering, soul-food goodness! (coconut cake, fried pickles, fried tenderloin sandwich) The folks that run the place are very down home and friendly. The owner Jerry will often come out and talk and laugh with the regulars, and often ask the new folks if they enjoyed their food and will always offer to bring them napkins, straws, etc... He is a great guy! This place is the real deal if you're lookin' for good-ole-boy down-home barbecue and soul food. This is also a great place to take any visiting northerner who wants just good home cookin'!

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon after the RC Cola & Moon Pie Festival in Bell Buckle and had the smoked wings with pulled pork and a couple sides. The wings were smoky, all right, but also overdone and dry. The pork was toothsome and had plenty of bark, but the bun was weak and the thin, brown sugar-based sauce didn't do it any favors. The sides were forgettable. Not bad, but then again, not good either.
(2)
Kim K.
I've been here a couple of times for a quick lunch. The half chicken was good but every time I got the pork sandwich the bun was stale and the pork was cold. Fried pickles were good too but you don't get much for what they cost. I also didn't care for the corn cakes which were super dense and kind of chewy. It's good for what you pay for but they could at least make sure their bbq meats are hot when served.

The Slick Pig is really good. Even outside the smoke smell from the smoker called to me like a Siren's song. This place, you stand in line to order. It was like waiting in line to ride the Matterhorn ride at Disneyland when I was 14 years old. I mean I was excited!!! I ordered 10 hickory smoked wings, and the 1/2 rack of ribs plate. White beans and Mac and cheese were my sides. White beans were astoundingly good! Mac and cheese tasty but a little too soft. The wings had the best smoke flavor of any BBQ place I have ever had (though a slight dry texture). The ribs were sauper good! Tender and smoky. Overall; excellent!! Friendly and not expensive. Can get crowded, so come early.

Pretty good....for Murfreesboro. Maybe that's a bit harsh, but half the things on their menu are pretty mediocre. The other half are good...most of the time. Barbecue sauce is fine. If you like real thick barbecue sauce, this isn't the place for you. Nor if you like mustard or purely vinegar sauces. Spicy sauce has a little zip. Inedible items: -Beef BBQ - tough -Fried Pickles - back to the drawing board on this one, guys. It's flat out awful. Good items when they get them right -BBQ Chicken - you need to sauce it up with the provided mild or spicy sauce, but it's alright. Can be dry. -Smoked Wings - I like them. They can be over cooked to the point of being shriveled, though. That's when I don't like them. Good bleu cheese. -Sausage on a bun - Who would have thought? They slice a sausage in half and put it on a regular picnic bun along with mustard and cole slaw. Eat that at the restaurant no matter what, because if it gets soggy it just isn't any good. I thought their ribs were average. Pulled pork the same, but I've never been impressed by pulled pork. To me, it's just a vehicle for sauce. Sides are pretty ho-hum. BBQ beans are OK, and that's usually what I get. They don't have BBQ turkey. Their turkey sandwich is just deli turkey. Final note: Closed on Mondays and they run a special every day.

I hadn't eaten here in years, because my last experience was horrible. I thought I would give it another chance, and alas, my expectations were once again shattered. The BBQ is mediocre, not a lot of smoked flavor. BUT, good portions. The Coleslaw, IS awesome. The wings were really dry, and hard. The fried dill pickles, which I couldn't wait to try, (since I have tried pretty much ALL of them) due to the sign that states, and I quote..."BEST FRIED DILL PICKLED IN TOWN". Where ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. They were $3.99.(which is the going rate for an order here in town at most places) and there was only about a HANDFUL in our order. You can get a HUGE basket (enough for 4 people) for that price at Kirkenburks. And about half of that portion at TOOT'S, for LESS! They were breaded in corn meal, which is just horrendous. They were also spicy. I don't know WHO told them they were the "BEST IN TOWN", but they just flat out lied. We should have just went on to JIM N NICKS. =D We'll never go back.

We ordered ahead while driving down I-24. They were very helpful taking our order over the phone and had our food ready when we arrived. They happily added a half rack of ribs at checkout time and the food was fantastic! I especially liked the smoked chicken wings, but the ribs were great as well.

They catered a few events I've been to and each time the food has been amazing. They are definitely known for their wings.

Slick Pig smoked wings rock. They also have good barbeque and ribs. It's a great place for an inexpensive and quick meal, and if you need a downhome caterer or some tailgate food you can't beat Slick Pig in the Murfreesboro area. We've been frequenting this 'Boro staple for years at tailgates and events, but my first in-house experience was when our local food show "Taste of the Town" stopped in to see them cook up those locally famos meals with our own two (well four) eyes. The lunch crowd was made up of nearly entirely of longtime locals who've called the Slick Pig their lunch destination of choice for many many years. After enjoying their food hot off the grill it's easy to see why they keep coming back daily. Here's the link to the video review if you'd like to see for yourself or better yet just stop in...the Slick Pig isn't going anywhere anytime soon! tasteofthetown.tv

Absolutely, without a doubt the best wings I have ever had. The wings are smoked and not covered in sauce, but the flavor is spectacular. Also try the banana pudding. It's homemade just like your Granny use to make. Slick Pig is also a great place for ordering large quantities for parties or events.

Amazing! Wings are wonderful. I have also ordered and eaten a whole smoked chicken-its sooo good!
(5)
Ken S.
I don't know why this place is still in business. Their wings may be fine, but when the name of your restaurant includes the words Pig and Bar-B-Q you expect the pulled pork and ribs to be the star. The pork is just plain flavorless. Sorry, folks.
(1)
Stacey B.
So yeah, the name is disgusting (what is appetizing about the idea of a "slick" pig?), but as a pulled pork connoisseur, I find they score in all areas to the point that they could call this place whatever they wanted and I would be back for my pulled pork cravings! Their sides leave a little to be desired, but the pulled pork is far better than Bar-B-Cutie in my opinion (more moist, better smoked flavor, better sauce). Ambience is that of a mom and pop "meat and three" type lunch place, think cement floors, four-tops and plastic checkered tablecloths -- very utilitarian for cleaning up after the pigs that make fools of themselves here. Like me.
(4)
Jor V.
Great atmosphere and a great place to sit back and see all the locals line up to place their orders. We shared a full rack of ribs plate with beans and potato salad. The ribs were smoky and the sauce was just right, not to heavy or tangy. The beans were smoky and sweet and the potato salad was creamy. Joe V. Juneau, Alaska

I went on a day where they had $0.99 pork sandwiches and I was pretty disappointed. I'm sure they have better things on their menu. If you are going I do recommend getting something other than the cheap pork sandwiches.

Delicious BBQ! As a college student, I found the Tuesday $1 BBQ sandwiches to be a phenomenal deal. The lines are long, but the wait is short!

I liked this place ... a lot. The wings were absolutely fantastic!!! The best BBQ wings I've ever had. And the ribs aren't far behind. And the staff, from the server to the owner, are as hospitable as the wings are good. The pulled pork, though not bad, wasn't exceptional. A little dry and not very interesting. But trust me, if you go for the wings and ribs, you really can't go wrong.
(4)
Shaun F.
Maybe I have eaten at a different Slick Pig in the Boro, but the food is horrible. The barbeque is so dry that there is not enough sauce to make it moist. It taste like shoe leather. The wings are dried out and taste like liquid smoke. The ribs are not terrible but not great. I understand they are not a chain and they are local but I can not force to make myself eat there even if it was free. I have done competitions and won and have done some catering before. I could not stay in business long if I served food like this.

Some of the best catfish around. Long but quick line ups. Great. Fried pickles. Pulled pork buns excellent. Staff. Great. Looks like lots of take out.

I have visited slick pig 2 times. My first visit I got the BBQ pork nachos and I was very disappointed. They use nacho cheese instead of white queso. Big mistake. A friend of mine said to try the smoked wings and I am glad I followed his advice. The wings had great flavor with no need for sauce. They also had $.99 BBQ pork sandwiches. A great value! A tip would be to be ready for a crowd around lunch.

Great ribs! Fell off the bone using a plastic fork. Beans & potato salad were also top notch. Wash it down with the sweet tea. Corn bread was a little too dry...my only issue, but I would go back in a heartbeat!

I LIVED on Slick Pig when I was at MTSU -- they are a broke college student's dream! On Tuesdays, you can get BBQ sandwiches for $.99 and the rest of the time, my favorite thing to order was the Brunswick stew, which is super tasty and comes with cornbread for something like $3.50. There really isn't anything on their menu that could be considered expensive, so it's easy to get your BBQ fill without emptying your pockets. The thing you absolutely cannot miss if you go to Slick Pig is their wings -- it is ridiculous how smoky and juicy those things are.
(4)

Delicious Smoked Wings, but don't forget to ask for the BBQ Sandwich with Coleslaw. It doesn't look like much, but the food is delicious.

A family friendly local spot! Awesome BBQ pork & beef! You can skip the corn bread & Mac/cheese, they are about BBQ.

I wasn't really impressed with going to Slick Pig and eating there. The BBQ sandwich was good, even great, but it was the catering that really turned me on to it. I went to a party where they had ribs and pulled pork and various sides and this is where my love of Slick Pig was truly born. The ribs are amazing: wet and gooey and swimming in juice and sauce. I couldn't get enough of them. I'm glad I still have the opportunity to go out to Murfreesboro so I can still eat here once in a while.

When it comes to barbecue you just cannot go wrong with Slick Pig. The wings are delicious and every raves about them, but the ribs are equally delicious. Slow cooked in the same fashion and insanely delicious. The pulled pork sandwich is a deal breaker, though. This place puts other barbecue joints to shame. Fat guy approved!

3 words: SMOKED CHICKEN WINGS. Holy bar-b-q Batman, these were amazing! If you can't tell, I fully endorse the smoke wings here. So just do it. There's just the perfect amount of smokiness in the wings and the meat comes right off the bone. Never knew that chicken wings could be succulent until I ate at Slick Pig. Oh and the beans are pretty darn good too.

Have you ever gone out to eat and the restaurant was so packed that you had to wait what seemed like forever? Well, that's the Slick Pig...but there's a twist to this review. The Slick Pig was filled to capacity which immediately had me thinking that it must be pretty good. Every Tuesday The Slick Pig has the best kept secret in this neck of the woods. Pork sandwich goes for .99 cents. I ordered two seeing how I am a glutton for a great bargain. Having an hour for lunch I figured that I could wait for 20 minutes for my BBQ pork sandwich so when the server brought my order to me 5 minutes after I ordered I was definitely surprised. The sandwich was delicious and for 2.17 cents total I will probably be there next Tuesday as well. Stop in and join me if you are in the area, my treat.

The Middle Tennessee Submarine Veterans decided we wanted barbecue following our meeting, so 16 of us invaded The Slick Pig BBQ. They were great! They found seating for all of us, and even gave us our own waitress to keep an eye on us. When it comes to barbecue, I tend to prefer pork to beef most all of the time. But one of our members lives near there and is a regular there. He highly recommended the beef brisket, so I gave it a try. It was very good. It had a lot of bark on it but was still tender inside. So, the bottom line is great food, reasonable prices, and outstanding service.

Firstly, my family LOVES bbq. We just moved into town and, unfortunately, I had to sell my smoker as my new rental property doesn't allow me to have one. Needless to say, I had to find a good bbq place. I only tried two things when I ordered from here: Smoked wings and brisket, no sides. Based on these I give this place four stars. The smoked wings were outstanding 5 star wings. If you order smoked wings you have the option to get them fried once they're pulled from the smoker, so I ordered half of my wings fried. Both options are nothing short of amazing. We don't see either style as better than the other, they're just different. Try them both, you be the judge. The brisket wasn't to my liking, and gets 3 stars. It was very wet and a bit greasy, which is probably great on a sandwich, but I prefer a dry rubbed brisket. The taste was great, but I like to eat brisket with my hands, minus the bun. I order a half pound of brisket and it was not given to me sliced, so it was just one big hunk of wet meat. This really hurts me, since I'm a big brisket fan. The girl working the register who took my order was super friendly and helpful. The meats were brought out pretty quickly, even though the place was packed. I will go back, and I will try more of their food, but I will absolutely order more of those smoked wings!

Simply great -- classic southern bbq done right at a great price! If you go on Tuesdays plan some extra time because Slick Pig does $1 sandwiches. Portion size is similar to what you'd make at home so it's worth it to order 2 sandwiches if you're really hungry. Make sure to put sauce on before you leave, as sometimes there aren't lids at the condiment station when it gets ultra busy. Also, stay inside until you pick up your order -- this is mostly staffed by soft spoken teen girls who won't shout out loudly!!

I'm a bbq snob, and most times yelp is reliable for the reviews. This place is fantastic, I didn't see a 2 meat combo so I ordered the pork and beef plate which they accommodated me in my request. The brisket was pulled in long strips not sliced and was very tender and moist. Sometimes it can get died out but this was pulled to order. The pork was pulled and very tender, I think they use a little vinegar after they pull it like in North Carolina, not over powering but adds to the meat. The best part, they don't sauce their meat which to me means they know how to make bbq. Beans, slaw and tater salad were all very good. A definite stop when I'm in town.

Really neat place. You can get a wide variety of items and they are really well priced. We are from Texas and this is a go to place when we are town from now on.

The potato salad is the best I've ever had. Very flavorful without the onion after taste. The smoked wings are pretty good too. The Mac and cheese is pretty bland. The catfish was good too. Only four star because of he Mac and cheese.

We tried a little bit of everything and everything was fabulous. Everyone in the family said that the slick pig was their favorite barbecue. We happened to stop in at the same time as a local baseball team ... Despite the rush on them, the food was out quick and we still received great personalized service. The brisket was my favorite.

The food was really good and prices were great. The building had a rustic appearance but looked clean I got a couple of the mini pork sandwiches for a buck can't beat that price. Also got some potato salad which was excellent. service was great. Everything was excellent until I was almost done with my meal and the ceiling started leaking, it was not raining out. I them went to the ladies room I wouldn't recommend using it. I guess this would be great for take out.

Tastes pretty cheap, but it IS cheap. Very little portions but it is very inexpensive. The Shriner service isn't great but isn't terrible. I would go back but not if I'm very hungry.

Some of the best wings in the boro and 99 cent pork for the win.

By far the best BBQ Murfreesboro ! Jerry Robinson never forgets a face and everyone is treated like old friends and family. Love this place!

I've lived in Murfreesboro since 1988. This really is the best BBQ. In 2011 we took the family to Disney World. One morning as we were boarding the tram from the parking lot when a family sitting near us struck up a conversation. The father asked where we were from. I answered, "Murfreesboro Tennessee." His eyes got huge as he excitedly hollered, "HONEY! DID YOU HEAR WHERE THEY ARE FROM?!" I thought what the heck? He then started to tell us how they are big Disney fans from Michigan and every year they drive down to Orlando when one year they had car trouble on the Interstate in Murfreesboro and were forced to spend the night while the car was being repaired. While in Murfreesboro he had asked where the locals go to eat good food and was steered to Slick Pig BBQ. He said now every year when they make their trek to Disney World they stop in Murfreesboro for Slick Pig BBQ. That is some testament since our traffic here is atrocious and Slick Pig BBQ is nowhere near the Interstate! I wish I remembered their names but I will always remember their story. Try Slick Pig BBQ. You won't regret it.

I'll just get right to the meat of it. The cashier didn't listen. Had to repeat every thing several times. Including having to go back up to re-order the 3 slices of pie. Then being charged for 5 and having to wait for her to figure out how to do a refund. The Smoked wing were totally over smoked to the point of being bitter and needing tums afterwards. The ribs were plain and boring. They were also somewhat tough. I don't want them fall of the bone tender. They should have a little snap to them. But these were kinda chewy. The pulled meats we had were mushy with no real flavor. The saving grace for them was the sauce on the table. Not the best sauce but not the worst either. The catfish was super thin filets and tasted almost off. The tarter sauce tasted store bought. The Pie also tasted store bought. Would I take my family there again ? Nope. I spent the next 5 hours chasing bathrooms. Almost forgot. The side are small and horrible. The cole slaw was spit out it was so bad. And last. What happened to the slaw also happened to the chili. Luke warm canned chili tastes better.

You can't beat .99 cent pork bbq on Tuesdays. Usually crowded but order is ready fast. The bbq was a little dry but i asked for bbq sauce and it made it great. I will be coming back. I heard their wings are even better.

Love Slick Pig! I survived Tuesday's in college with their $1 pork sandwich. I still go there at times for dinner since their food is so good. The fruit tea is also amazing and pairs well with the Bbq sandwich. The seasoned fries are also great but you can't go wrong with any of their sides.

Great lunch spot! Clean bathrooms, free refills on drinks. Pulled pork sandwich good, but not spicy like we ordered. Fun atmosphere. Kind of surprised that slaw wasn't included. Only one sauce option on table. Outside seating.

Food was delicious! Not a fancy restaurant. Had the BBQ ribs, beef brisket and smoked hickory wings. Did not care for the wings but my husband loved them!

I am a vegetarian so I dont have a lot of experience with this place. However, at a recent catered dinner event, I had the opportunity to try some the side dishes. The cole slaw was great and they have the best potato salad Ive ever had aside from my own mothers.

Lucas Reviewed - Highlight This is the place to be on Tuesday's for lunch. 99 cent pulled pork sandwiches! The pork is good and that is what this place is all about. I recommend a group of your closest 2-3 friends or coworkers head over as you can be in and out if you're on a lunch break and time is limited. What else? They have good catfish and other options that aren't bad at all. The prices are groomed to the college crowd and are efficient in their service. The Hmmm ??? Seating can be limited and the line is known to protrude from the entrance. The business has outgrown its building size and seating accommodations. In town visiting and a local brought me here, delicious! I am not usually a wing fan but the smoked wings were amazing!

LOVE me some Slick Pig. 99-cent Tuesday's is where it's at! This is not fancy-pants BBQ, ya'll. This is a good BBQ sandwich, excellent sauce, and good sides/seasoned fries. Their banana pudding and chess pies are excellent also. I have to stop in every time I'm in the Boro. Their service leaves a little to be desired, but who really cares in a BBQ joint?
(5)

SMOKED WINGS. End of story. Only took a star because sometimes the seating is nonexistant but that doesn't take away from the great food. Sweet tea is on point as well. YUM!

We stumbled on to this place, and what a great find. We loved the bbq, but the coconut cake really took the cake. The only downside--it's closed Sunday and Monday.

Great bbq spot. My wife and I had a great lunch. The pork sandwich was fantastic, as was the cole slaw.

Go here for the smoked wings!!!
(3)
Tristan T.
It appears that they are better known for their wings. We tried their rack and it just didn't cut it. I have tasted much better BBQ and the cole slaw is the worst tasting slaw I have tasted. Skip the sides...they are tiny for the price and we threw it out. Ribs were ok, nothing to write home about.

The tuesday bbq deal is delicious and a great study time pick me up. Around here a lot of bbq places don't live up to the standard of southern bbq joints but slick pig is excellent. The atmosphere is great and the food is even better.

The Slick Pig wings are like no other I've ever had. The smoke flavor is amazing, and the meat does truly fall off the bone.

Simple but great BBQ. The smoked wings were amazing. Loved the ribs and sides too!

I have lived in Murfreesboro my whole life and to me, Slick Pig is BBQ. I have been to all the Meccas of BBQ: Memphis, Texas, North Carolina, St Louis, and Kansas City; and still nothing trumps Slick Pig's unique flavor. Try the whole or half chicken with a side of homemade potato salad and some banana pudding for desert! My personal favorite are the chicken wings!
(5)
Hueneme R.
One of the better BBQ joints in the area. Food is good and the prices are very reasonable. I recommend this place.

Razz S.
The Wings. That's the reason I have done there for years. I'm not really a big wing person. I HATE fried wings and hot wings. But these will "make you wanna slap your mama." They are very meaty and very tasty. I only use my own homemade BBQ sauce on them. But you really don't need any. Why mess with perfection. If you want wings in Murfreesboro, the is the only place to go.
(5)
Dale R.
Good enough and solid enough to rate 3-Stars, which isn't bad. We kind of drove out of our way as our initial trip to Murfreesboro was to visit a location that had closed; Papa's Hot Sauce Store and BBQ Restaurant; they no longer serve BBQ. Since our trip started in Tullahoma, it was a long trip to not get what you were after. So we sought out another BBQ place in Murfreesboro. As you can see from the picture I had ribs. The ribs were "good" but not outstanding and not worth the long trip that we made. If you are close by and want some good BBQ, certainly check it out. But Don't go out of the way!
(3)
Dustin R.
The best smoked wings and bbq in middle tennessee. Seriously, don't pass this place up. I have yet to try their ribs, but supposed to be amazing from what I hear. Good little family owned bbq.

Solid barbecue, good prices, and very close to campus. The smoked wings are very good. On Tuesday's they sell pork sandwiches for $0.99. Overall, pretty good food.

Holy fuck y'all this place is great. Best, cheapest ribs I have ever had in my damn life. I even met the owner out back and we had a chat about how they make them so good. Good food made by good people

What can I say. Just the name of the restaurant deserves four stars already, but then to deliver on that promise with excellent and friendly service, fantastic chicken wings, really sweet iced tea (that's how it is in TN friends!), baked beans to die for. I really liked this place.

Best BBQ in murfreesboro, but Martin's in Nolensville is better. I'd avoid the wings, they're a little dry. Other than that, it's pretty good for the price.
(4)Jessica B.

(3)David B.
We decided to stop here for a late lunch today and it didn't disappoint. Great food and a great atmosphere. Looking forward to coming back.
(5)Jennifer C.
We ordered the family meal and really enjoyed it. Loved their potato salad and beans. We'll definitely be back!
(4)Jonathan R.
Welcome to the south! This is where the locals come. Great service, great food, and the sweet tea great. Nuff'said.
(4)Becky P.
I have to tell you, when my son first pulled up here I was ready to tell him "no way". But don't be fooled. Great food. Even the teenager was impressed.
(5)Megan G.
Coming home from Nashville and was craving some bbq, so we stopped here. They weren't open yet, but they still served us. Not many people will do that. The pork was juicey and the bbq amazing! I can't wait to go back!
(5)Steve L.
This place is everything you want in a BBQ place. Good food, good sides, and a lot of love for the locals. A lot of love for MTSU. The wings are my favorite thing on the menu... their are smoked and they are glorious
(5)Robert S.
(5)Aprile M.
(5)Kevin L.
(4)Martin J.
I visit slick pig at least 3 times a month! I have never been unsatisfied with anything I've ordered! My favorites are the smoked wings and freshwater catfish!
(5)Brannon A.
Slick Pig is worth getting off the interstate to try. I have been here twice while visiting Murfreesboro for business. Each time I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the barbecue! Excellent banana pudding as well!
(5)Jennifer B.
By far the best BBq around. I lived in memphis for the past 8 years and just moved back to the area and I would have to say that Slick Pigs bbq was by far the best best I've had in years. Down to earth place and great staff. I would recommend it to anyone. Will return!
(5)Karen C.
Our very favorite BBQ! We love all the meat choices as well as the sauce. A little bit of heaven right in Murfreesboro!
(5)Lauren O.
This was our first time visiting Slick Pig and wow is it good! The smoked wings are on point and the BBQ chicken sandwich is delicious! They have daily specials, you can't beat a 99 cent pork sandwich! We were full and happy when we left and will definitely be back to indulge again!
(5)Mike O.
(5)Don N.
Awesome! Had the mild smoked chicken, a Cajun fish sandwich and the ribs. We ordered ahead while driving by and added ribs at the the last minute no drama! Everything was packed and ready when we arrived. Nice and polite folk behind the counter.
(5)Leila J.
(5)Charles S.
(4)The Main Reviewer X.
(4)scott b.
(5)Chris Y.
(5)Will M.
(4)Kera T.
(5)Patricia C.
has great food the owner of the place really knows how to make barbecue he just gets it but the place is disgusting there is holes literally in the ceiling the place looks like it's a health code violation you might even get sick but the food is good.
(2)Bryan G.
Best wings ever. Life changing
(5)Joe H.
God bless the "Pig". I love this place and my waistline proves it. Excellent food and folks!
(5)Johnny W.
(2)Kim K.
(3)Jeff H.
(5)Howard L.
(4)Kimmi D.
(2)Gaines K.
We ordered ahead while driving down I-24. They were very helpful taking our order over the phone and had our food ready when we arrived. They happily added a half rack of ribs at checkout time and the food was fantastic! I especially liked the smoked chicken wings, but the ribs were great as well.
(5)Nathan C.
They catered a few events I've been to and each time the food has been amazing. They are definitely known for their wings.
(5)Rob J.
(4)Tonya O.

(5)Ken S.
I don't know why this place is still in business. Their wings may be fine, but when the name of your restaurant includes the words Pig and Bar-B-Q you expect the pulled pork and ribs to be the star. The pork is just plain flavorless. Sorry, folks.
(1)Stacey B.
Like me.
(4)Jor V.
(5)Timothy B.
I went on a day where they had $0.99 pork sandwiches and I was pretty disappointed. I'm sure they have better things on their menu. If you are going I do recommend getting something other than the cheap pork sandwiches.
(2)Jennifer P.
Delicious BBQ! As a college student, I found the Tuesday $1 BBQ sandwiches to be a phenomenal deal. The lines are long, but the wait is short!
(4)Ethan H.
(4)Shaun F.
(1)Wendy H.
Some of the best catfish around. Long but quick line ups. Great. Fried pickles. Pulled pork buns excellent. Staff. Great. Looks like lots of take out.
(5)David G.
(3)Jim W.
Great ribs! Fell off the bone using a plastic fork. Beans & potato salad were also top notch. Wash it down with the sweet tea. Corn bread was a little too dry...my only issue, but I would go back in a heartbeat!
(4)Nicole P.
(4)David O.
Delicious Smoked Wings, but don't forget to ask for the BBQ Sandwich with Coleslaw. It doesn't look like much, but the food is delicious.
(4)Julie F.
A family friendly local spot! Awesome BBQ pork & beef! You can skip the corn bread & Mac/cheese, they are about BBQ.
(5)Claire B.
(4)Dave P.
(5)Ashley S.
Tuesday. 99¢ pork sandwiches. So good!! They are almost always packed but good food and good prices equals a happy belly. I love this place
(5)Jeremy S.
Pork sandwich for lunch was a great bbq meal, with fries and a bottle of coke.
(4)Justin B.
(5)Brandon H.
The best wings I've ever had
(5)Cameron S.
Best smoked wings that I have ever eaten!!! We drive an hour just to eat them. Homemade desserts are always amazing!
(5)Sandy R.
All I can say is "Awesome" - The best BBQ I have ever had. Try their ribs. The meat just falls off the bone.
(5)robby m.
I don't know much about Tennessee barbecue, but the pulled pork sandwiches at Slick Pig are delicious! Oh, and the sweet tea--you gotta get the sweet tea!
(5)Brad J.
Best wings I've ever had. Great pulled pork and potato salad too. Can't go wrong here.
(5)Nichole F.
*GAH!* This place has the best potato salad I"ve ever had! I went to a party that was catered by Slick Pig and I have yet to find an acceptable equivalent. Oh yeah, the pork was great too!!!
(5)Tracy T.
This place is awesome! Just ate there (again) the other night and had the ribs--fell off the bone before I could even pick them up! Their wings are unique and to die for and their BBQ sauce rocks!
(5)Raymond N.

(4)Hannah T.
(5)Brian H.
(5)Sandie S.
Really neat place. You can get a wide variety of items and they are really well priced. We are from Texas and this is a go to place when we are town from now on.
(5)Denise B.
The potato salad is the best I've ever had. Very flavorful without the onion after taste. The smoked wings are pretty good too. The Mac and cheese is pretty bland. The catfish was good too. Only four star because of he Mac and cheese.
(4)Jared G.
We tried a little bit of everything and everything was fabulous. Everyone in the family said that the slick pig was their favorite barbecue. We happened to stop in at the same time as a local baseball team ... Despite the rush on them, the food was out quick and we still received great personalized service. The brisket was my favorite.
(5)Maureen T.
(4)Abbey H.
Tastes pretty cheap, but it IS cheap. Very little portions but it is very inexpensive. The Shriner service isn't great but isn't terrible. I would go back but not if I'm very hungry.
(4)Shannon M.
Some of the best wings in the boro and 99 cent pork for the win.
(4)Charlotte A.
By far the best BBQ Murfreesboro ! Jerry Robinson never forgets a face and everyone is treated like old friends and family. Love this place!
(5)Sam B.

(2)James C.
You can't beat .99 cent pork bbq on Tuesdays. Usually crowded but order is ready fast. The bbq was a little dry but i asked for bbq sauce and it made it great. I will be coming back. I heard their wings are even better.
(4)Jen O.
(5)Mary F.
Great lunch spot! Clean bathrooms, free refills on drinks. Pulled pork sandwich good, but not spicy like we ordered. Fun atmosphere. Kind of surprised that slaw wasn't included. Only one sauce option on table. Outside seating.
(4)Carol B.
Food was delicious! Not a fancy restaurant. Had the BBQ ribs, beef brisket and smoked hickory wings. Did not care for the wings but my husband loved them!
(5)Brandon P.
Really enjoyed lunch today. BBQ sandwich, fries and sweet tea. All were really good. Lots of folks there!
(4)Brandon H.
I am a vegetarian so I dont have a lot of experience with this place. However, at a recent catered dinner event, I had the opportunity to try some the side dishes. The cole slaw was great and they have the best potato salad Ive ever had aside from my own mothers.
(4)Michael L.
(4)Adam R.
(5)Chelsea P.
SMOKED WINGS. End of story. Only took a star because sometimes the seating is nonexistant but that doesn't take away from the great food. Sweet tea is on point as well. YUM!
(4)J R.
We stumbled on to this place, and what a great find. We loved the bbq, but the coconut cake really took the cake. The only downside--it's closed Sunday and Monday.
(5)Mark T.
Great bbq spot. My wife and I had a great lunch. The pork sandwich was fantastic, as was the cole slaw.
(5)Charles C.
Go here for the smoked wings!!!
(3)Tristan T.
(2)Hannah C.
The tuesday bbq deal is delicious and a great study time pick me up. Around here a lot of bbq places don't live up to the standard of southern bbq joints but slick pig is excellent. The atmosphere is great and the food is even better.
(5)Darrell P.
The Slick Pig wings are like no other I've ever had. The smoke flavor is amazing, and the meat does truly fall off the bone.
(5)Jamie B.
Simple but great BBQ. The smoked wings were amazing. Loved the ribs and sides too!
(5)Blake A.
(5)Hueneme R.
One of the better BBQ joints in the area. Food is good and the prices are very reasonable. I recommend this place.
(4)Razz S.
(5)Dale R.
(3)Dustin R.
The best smoked wings and bbq in middle tennessee. Seriously, don't pass this place up. I have yet to try their ribs, but supposed to be amazing from what I hear. Good little family owned bbq.
(5)Alex K.
Solid barbecue, good prices, and very close to campus. The smoked wings are very good. On Tuesday's they sell pork sandwiches for $0.99. Overall, pretty good food.
(4)Chazz B.
Holy fuck y'all this place is great. Best, cheapest ribs I have ever had in my damn life. I even met the owner out back and we had a chat about how they make them so good. Good food made by good people
(5)E Y.
What can I say. Just the name of the restaurant deserves four stars already, but then to deliver on that promise with excellent and friendly service, fantastic chicken wings, really sweet iced tea (that's how it is in TN friends!), baked beans to die for. I really liked this place.
(5)
