Great place for pizza & beer in Murfreesboro. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. I've had a number of different items on the menu, never disappointed. Of course, their beer selection is great. Prices are slightly on the high side, but not terrible. Plus, it tends to get too crowded at peak times. I like to go on a weeknight or during the day when it's not packed. Cool place to hang out and have a beer. Definitely worth checking out.

After 10pm, they have a mini appetizer menu that are all $2.99. This includes a mini pizza with 1 topping! This is enough to fill you up. I just wish the other prices were a little cheaper as well. Regardless, this does not stop my friends and I for frequenting the restaurant after 10pm!

What a FAR CRY from our last experience! Ordered the same pizza the same way. I think they used the sweet sauce anyway, strike one. Strike two was that my 'extra well done' request was also ignored; the cheese wasn't even melted. The rest of the strikes were against service. Though initially prompt when we sat down, that's where the service ended. The fly-by service method didn't work well for us at all. Got our (delicious) Mediterranean salads but no utensils to eat them with. She didn't notice as she flew by and we didn't even have the chance to ask. I got utensils off another table. Pizzas were served without a dish to eat them on but the fly-by serving method left us without the opportunity to ask yet again. I picked up the crushed red pepper to shake on my pizza but the lid wasn't tight so I accidentally dumped half the container on my pizza (literally, I'm afraid). Since the server never checked on us, we were left to salvage the meal ourselves. Husband ran out of tea early on but was never offered a refill. He asked for one when she dropped off the bill. At least the refill was prompt. When the server picked up the dishes, she made no comment about the mound of red pepper flakes at all. A manager appeared to be wandering the bar but he never stopped to see how the meal was. Time was, they always asked. We were sorely disappointed in this experience. It'll be a very long time before we come back. A very looong time.

Nice little Lunch buffet for $8.00. Lucas had a great personality as server!

Had lunch for the first time here. I wanted to try it out because I love Chicago deep dish. Well they don't have a genuine deep dish on the menu but they do make one. I decided to have the pizza bar to get a good sampling instead. It was decent but not impressive. What was impressive was my waitress. She brought me a hand written paper about the traditional deep dish including options and prices. Very impressive service. Bottom line, I can't understand why a Chicago pizza place wouldn't have a true deep dish on the menu. I would give this place a mediocre two stars but Amanda, my waitress was so good, it gets four.

Worst playlist ever. They literally just played Wheels on the Bus (and its 10:30p on a Saturday).

Beers are decent. Not enough rotating. Service is sound, not awesome. Food is always good!

This is a fun place to get a good beer and a good pizza. Been here a few times and am never disappointed. It's not some stellar micro brewery with hand crafted artisan pizza or anything, but it's really just plain good. All the appetizers were really outstanding. We had the artichoke dip, and the jalapeño pretzels. Seems to have a good sports bar atmosphere on one side which is pretty cool. I recommend this place for sure, especially for groups.

If this is what they call "Chicago Style" pizza, I'm not a fan. The waiter straight up lied to my wife about what came on her food, when she specifically asked for the info. The man barely came to our table, never gave either of us a refill, until I specifically asked him to, when we were done eating. He was constantly chit chatting with other employees, and stopped to watch football on tv. After asking for the check, he came back with it folded up, gave us a speech about how he saw the crud my wife pulled from her plate, said he talked to his manager about it, said thwy just got a new menu, and then apologized. It seemed like he was going to discount us for the awful service, but he didn't. His name was Chris. The food wasn't that good, it wasn't awful, but I have certainly had much better. Apparently, according to our waiter, many of the items are premade, which is why he said we cant get many things cutomized to our liking, such as asking for no peppers. The prices are quite high, too. The bad service just helped solidify our never coming back. I just can not recommend it, when there are other, better places, nearby, such as Chedder's, or Toot's!

I'm torn between a 3 star vs 4 star review. When are you coming? Lunch? Eh... They have an all you can eat pizza buffet. Monday night? Mmmm ... On Monday nights they have one of the best beer deals in Murfreesboro. Last time I was there I believe it was 99 cents for any 7oz draft, and they had a nice selection. Any other night, its a fancy sitdown pizza joint with an expensive menu.

It was my first time here trying pizza out n it was absolutely so yummy nest time I'm in Nashville defiantly coming back here.

This place could use bar rescue big time.. Sit at the bar and no one ever wiped it off from the last person.. Dirty dirty dirty.. Seems to be a local red neck hang out to drink beer.. Pizza was nothing to write home about.. Just a down right dirty place.. Stay away...

I have been to several Old Chicago's and in other states and this is no different, which is a good thing. They offer the same food and beer at the same prices. Good service and 110 beers to choose from. You can't go wrong!

    (4)
  • Elaine F.

Been twice, first time it was really good, second time I wasn't impressed! Second time my food taste like it was a frozen dinner and I was really disappointed! They do have a lot to choose from and the pizzas and appetizers are really good! I might give them another try?!

  • Dee B.

Ordered carryout tonight...ordered 2 of the 8" pizzas.... they are only 7"!! and $10 for an 8" pizza is bad enough but to be cheated here is like a double insult! Husband went to pick them up and no one brought them out to the car like they usually do...they forgot about the order or too busy to bother? This was last time at this place!

Everything was just like I remembered. Awesome pizza roles and amazing sauce. The meat me calzone is perfect. I really missed old Chicago, we need one in Midland, TX

So since writing my first review I've pretty much become a regular and I finally joined the Beer Tour! The bartenders and some of the servers go out of their way to ask (and remember!) your name. The Halloween Mini Tour going on is pretty awesome and I've discovered a lot of beers I never thought I would like. Also, the California Chicken sandwich is uh-maz-ing and I enjoy the new Santa Fe calzone they are featuring. And as always, trivia with Seth is the bomb!

Um, hello? They provide incentives for drinking beer. How does that not make this place awesome?? Seriously, guys. As if beer isn't enough of a reward already, Old Chicago has one of the best beer clubs I've ever encountered. And I've been around the beer-club block. Here, you don't have to get to 200 before you get your name on a plaque and you start getting your prizes after your 10th beer on their World Beer Tour, which is completed after 110 beers (and don't worry, you still get your name on a plaque on the wall). They also run mini tours throughout the year, for which you receive a t-shirt upon completion. The variety of beer is impressive, and not really any more expensive on average than what you'd find at a similar restaurant. Methinks some of the other reviewers complaining about the price haven't been to The Flying Saucer and tried to order a Duvel or Corsendonk. The food is great, too--their deep dish Chicago-style pizza is as close to Chicago-style as I've seen in the south, and I should know: I'm from Chicago. You can also order a personal-sized pizza, something that's not listed on the menu but is a much easier size for one person to handle on his or her own. If you're looking for a place to duck in after work, grab a quick table and order a few Bud Lites, you might want to head down the road to Toot's or Applebee's. But if you're a serious beer drinker who enjoys good pizza and a fresh, laid-back atmosphere, you'll be at home at Old Chicago. (I also hear that the prize for completing your 20th World Beer Tour is a liver transplant, but that hasn't been confirmed.)

Yes the beer is overpriced. No the pizza is not Chicago-style. I still enjoy going there on occasion and I understand that going there does not mean I think their pizza is Chicago-style. I feel that I can still enjoy decent pizza, calzones, appetizers etc. I don't think there is another place in town that has the upbeat ambiance, hustle and bustle, beer selection, and exciting vibe. You get all of that from satisfying the crowd by giving them something they want, and apparently that is decent Italian food (did not say Chicago-style anything), a great central location and lots of marketing $$.

  • Jake R.

In town in business and figured I'd try out a place I've never heard of and I wasn't disappointed. Good appetizers, friendly servers, and very good food. If your a beer lover the have you covered. More variety then I've seen at most full out bars.

I've never been to Chicago but if this is Chicago style pizza I'll pass. This pizza tasted like Pizza Hut deep dish with better quality meat. They only difference is it cost twice as much. Also the interior crust wasn't all the way cooked. I would say this place is a beer joint that serves pizza not a pizza place that serves beer.

  • Kristo E.

NOTE TO OLD CHICAGO: If you want to be sooo Chicago, it's not called "thick crust", it's called deep dish. The "thick crust" was about a 3/5. Better than anything you get out of a grocery store freezer, but can't hold the jockstrap of a real Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. Price was okay. Restaurant was okay. I'd go back again to try the thin crust. BTW This review is by a born-and-raised CHICAGOAN.

Place is awesome! Kids love their wings. Their new calzone are amazing! Deep dish pizza to die for. Beer always cold. Pricey for "just a pizza joint" but so delish!

Let's see here. This place just screams CHAIN! As someone who doesnt eat meat (except seafood) and tries to eat healthy, this menu was very very difficult to find something to eat. The Drinks: I started with a glass of wine which was a normal house merlot. The two friends I was with were lured in by the pretty pictures of the mixed drinks. One ordered a strawberry mojito which tasted like sour corn syrup mixed with a tiny bit of mint - it was absolutely horrible! The other ordered an "Old Chicago Iced Tea", which I guess is their version of a long island and it tasted a little better but more sour. Neither drinks had more than half a shot of liquor in them and after tasting a sip you could literallly feel your heart going into sugar high mode. Needless to say, they switched to whiskey gingers after that, which were good. The Meal: I decided to just say F it and go with something fried - which almost everything on the menu is fried. I went with the fish and chips. The meal was acceptable. Nothing special. My friends had a burger and the wings which were the same. The wait staff was very good. I dont think I will be returning here.

The reason to come: 110 beers available and 30 on tap. 420, yazoo, etc on tap. All the bartenders know me, so I should stop coming in so often. They are all kind and friendly, but I don't want to be desperate person who comes in just because everyone knows me and says hi to me. Pan or deep dish pizza, golden brown crust, or Pizza rolls. Yummy. Pepporoni with extra cheese is my fave, Chicago Seven is all right. The ambiance is nice, decor is brick and colorful vintage signs, with some chicago sports paraphanalia mixed in. Also mix of families and guys watching sports. Not really a pick up bar.

Any place that has trivia is good in my book. I did not try the "Chicago style" pizza, only because I've had real Chicago pizza many times and I don't want to be disappointed. Maybe someday I'll get the courage to try the pizza here. But, I did have the pizza rolls appetizer and they were DELICIOUS!! They also have great happy-hour prices!

This is definitely our go-to restaurant! Food is great, Beer is great atmosphere is great! And their Sicilian Pizza Rolls are amazing.

We went to old Chicago expecting perfection. Upon arrival we told them not to sit us at the bar. We sat in the bar. We ordered salads, and my guests salad had old lettuce on it. They kindly got us a new one though. Then we ordered calzones and the chicken was definitely from a can, and it was very bland food. Service was a five but food was a one.

    (1)
  • Fonda W.

I had the pepperoni decker pizza, Chicago style & it was good. We came during the evening rush hour but they moved pretty quick with order. The Sicilian pepperoni roles were good as well.

Always have a great time at the 'Boro Old Chicago. Great beer and awesome pizzas. A great place for a bite to eat in Murfreesboro after 10pm. Waffle House still reigns supreme as the late night staple, but Old Chicago delivers a great a experience with a more upscale barroom feel.

We started off with fried pickles which were sub par.The server was ok it was a bit slow.Anyway to the good points the pizza this stuff was great I had the buffet tried thin crust pan tossed deep dish and the calzone.Let me tell ya this joint is spot on all the pizza was great and I am from Chicago I know pizza. The pep and italian sausage calzone was my fav. They also had a homemade marinara which was great.Tons of beer on tap I had the sam winter lager my girlfriend had stella was super good.I will go back soon

  • Eddie D.

Pizza is not bad, beer selection is pretty good. The pepperoni rolls are awesome! Even though this place is a "Chicago style" pizza place, I prefer their thinner crusts. The buffet is frequently out of food. On my last visit there was NO pizza available for over 5 minutes and about 10 guests were lined up waiting. Often, the selection is less than desirable when it is stocked... Overall, the food is good and service average.

Great pizza and beer and the pizza rolls are the best. Love the atmosphere. Service can be slow at times though.

Not good. Terrible sllloooowwww service and they weren't that busy. We got the buffet to try a lot of different pizzas well there were only 2 different pizzas there. They were not hot and my salad tasted like perfume. Needless to say I probably won't be going back any time soon.

OMG!! LOVE this place!!!! We stopped in here on a Friday night with another couple for dinner. We wanted something different and this was the place to be!! Our waitress was very friendly and suggested a few items off the menu. We ordered the sampler item for the appetizer and then we had pizza. It was delicious!! We ended up taking leftover pizza back to our hotel with us too. Great place to go to - even for dinner or to meet up with friends!

Right off the bat I can tell you, this name is VERY misleading. For those of you who have had real Chicago pizza know what I mean. That said, I was disappointed to see that the "Chicago Style" pizza was the butter crust that I think Uno's is known for, and in my opinion, around here (Chicago) that isn't saying much. I was looking for the ever famous deep dish Chicago Style pizza- not an airy, buttery crust. Anyhow, the beer selection was decent and I understand that you don't have access to the distributors that we have here in Chicago, but when you include the word Chicago in your name, I at least expect to see a Chicago-land beer....Goose Island anyone? With a party of 4, we should have stayed at the bar, we probably would have had better service. To that end it was slow and sporadic and this measly "Chicago-style" pizza shouldn't have taken nearly as long as it did. Work out the kinks, speed up your service, and take Chicago out of your name if you aren't going to serve the right kind of pizza that Chicago is known for- and I mean the deep dish- crust on the bottom, toppings and cheese in the middle and sauce on top.

We got the Meat You pizza, and it was great. I really enjoyed the beer menu as well. I tried the Salty Dog, the Blueberry Wheat, and the Double-Double Chocolate stout, all great and very reasonably priced. If you like pizza, this seems like Italian. The Lasagna dish next too us was a huge portion, and apparently so good the person ordering it insisted everyone else try it out. Waiter was great too, and I like the fact the manager came over just to check on us. Great pizza and a wonderful beer selection, you can't ask for more.

A great place to chill and eat, and be reminded of good 'ole Chicago. Visited here for the first time, and was amazed at the large seating area and how crowded it was. They had a lot of Chicago memoribilia to remind you of Chicago and the brick/wood walls made it a touch more of an urban feel. The mini pizzas were great, but was even better was the great selection of beers. Old Chicago has 110 different beers and at affordable prices. It's not Flying Saucer where they boast about having more than 200 beers, but if you're looking for a place to chill away from the hustle and bustle from Nashville, go to the 'Boro and enjoy a drink or two at Old Chicago.

    (4)
  • Tara Y.

We go to Old Chicago quite a bit. I am a fan of the chicago style, thick crust but the "thin" crust which is more hand tossed is great to. They have a really good lunch buffet which we have done several times. From the menu we used to love the "Meat me" pizza but now we love "The Classic" because it has roasted garlic on it. I have never had any of the pastas but I have had several of the sandwhiches and my new favorite is actually the fish and chips. The beer is best on Monday's when they have $1.50 10oz drafts.

    (4)
  • Timothy B.

They have a large beer selection and a "World beer tour." They have tv's all over the place, so if you want to watch a game and have a drink, this is a good place. The pizza selections are not bad. I usually get the buffet just to try the different kinds. The service is pretty good, and helpful if you have any questions. If you are in the mood for some pizza and beer, try it out.

Wow! A Chicago-style pizza chain that doesn't have a location in Chicago. Hmmm, that can not be a good sign. Having just eaten their rendition of Chicago style pizza it is quite obvious why they don't have a location in the Windy City. Chicagoans would and should burn this place to ground for bastardizing the good name of Chicago pizza and putting it on this trash. I've tried to think of a worse pizza that I've had in my entire life and have come up empty. Frozen pizza makes this stuff taste like dog food. Retched. The soul-less corporate server didn't even ask why we didn't want to carry the 3/4 of untouched pie home. Perhaps she has gotten used to throwing this trash where it belongs into the waste bin. Murfreesboro has much better offerings for pizza. Go to Ahart's, go to Sal's, go to Mellow Mushroom, hell go to Pizza Hut! Horrible food, horrible service, what more could you ask for?

    (1)
  • Melissa L.

I have a friend who is a big fan of pizza and he highly recommended this place. I ordered the Old Chicago Seven pizza with a thin New York style crust. It was fine for pizza. I prefer the pizza from Mellow Mushroom, but Old Chicago was okay. I got the brownie for dessert and it was also fine, but I've had much better. I don't know if I'll go back to this place unless I am going out to eat with someone who specifically requests we eat at Old Chicago.

  • Douglas F.

The bar staff was to involved with the other staff. I am not sure why but nobody looked like they were having a baby. I am from Chicago and I wanted a good Italian beef. No luck they don't even carry it. I ordered a personal deep dish pizza. It wasn't a deep dish pizza it was a bunch of crush with the topping put on backwards. The taste was good but not a deep dish by no means. I found out that the lager size deep dish are done correctly so I may have to give them one more try

  • Joe S.

First off, it is a great place to enjoy a overpriced beer.... They do have one of the best selections I have seen in a while but hold onto your wallet!! They should take the "Chicago" off their name, this is NO where near a real Chicago pizza and not even a decent attempt! And that's really too bad because the pizza by basic standards is decent but to compare it to a authentic Chicago pizza..... Not even remotely close. Sorry guys, change the name to Murfreesboro Pizza and Beer and you won't get ratings like this.

    (2)
  • Michelle F.

Being new to the area, I had no preconceived ideas of this place. My husband was happy because they had the beer he likes & my son and I were happy because we got the lunch buffet which was fresh and tasty. Decent lunch at fair price. Plus warm cookies thrown in for desert.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
