My boyfriend had been to another Mellow Mushroom location down in Florida and had said the pizza was pretty good, and I'm always up for a good pie so we decided to meet up here with a friend a couple weeks ago on a Tuesday night for some dinner. It was a pretty slow night, so we were seated right away. Our waitress was training someone new, so between the two of them the service was a little slow but nothing that was egregious or anything like that. Plus they stopped by a decent amount of times, so that kind of made up for it. However they were a little rusty on the beer options, and didn't know all of the specials. We started out with the spinach and artichoke dip, which was pretty much what you would expect. I opted for the Philosopher's Pie, which has steak, portobello mushrooms, artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, and some different cheeses. Coming from the Chicago area, I'm kind of a huge pizza snob, which is why I think that their pizza is just alright. My boyfriend got the Mighty Meat, so I tried a little of that and I felt pretty much the same. The crust is a little chewy (for my taste anyway) and both were a touch on the greasy side. But by far not the worst pizza I've ever had. Overall I would probably give this place another shot if I was in the area and didn't have a whole lot of other options. My boyfriend enjoyed it a bit more than I did, so chances are I'll probably be back at some point.

Wow! This was our first visit to the Mellow Mushroom and I am happy to say it won't be our last. We got the Hummus with Pita bread as an appetizer and it didn't disappoint any of us. My wife and our two sons (4 years old) loved sitting in the bus even if I did have to break up a fist fight between the two of them over who would be allowed to drive! We got a medium pizza that was one half Holy Shiitake and one half House Pizza. It was more than we could eat...so yes, we are taking it home! Our server was Maddie and she was AWESOME! She took our food allergy concerns seriously and made sure our first trip to the Mellow Mushroom wouldn't be our last. We had a great time!

My mom and I ate here for my birthday recently. We started with the bruschetta which was amazing. We had a hard time deciding what to order for the meal but ended up going with the Kosmic Karma pizza. We were not disappointed. The pizza was delicious. It's not for you if you prefer lots of meat, but if you're ok with pesto, feta, and tomatoes, you should definitely try it. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there was a girl working there with dreads. The dreads weren't so bad, but she was constantly scratching her head and picking at her forehead. It was just a bit gross for a restaurant.

Mellow Mushroom has the best crust. The ingredients are fresh and each pizza has thought put into the combinations. I'm never disappointed. Also, they have an excellent beer selection and the atmosphere is laid back and relaxed.

My second favorite pizza in the Boro. Great staff, heady vibes, and great craft of tap. A little pricier than I would like and they don't deliver, but solid. Try the Cosmic Karma pizza with Chicken added. The pizza bread has sesame seeds, which didn't jive well with us, I would not suggest.

My god this place is amazing!!!!! There are so many different pizzas to choose from and they do not skimp on the toppings at all!!! Get the buffalo chicken pizza! I will eat here 3-5 times a month

Although my visit was not great, the manager, Paul Linlau contacted me immediately. He seems to be doing everything possible to rectify the situation. So in all fairness, I plan on having another visit. Hopefully my next visit will result in a wonderful experience as so many of my friends have had. Just the fact that Mr Lindlau contacted me personally speaks volumes within itself. Thank you, Paul.

Love this place ordered the Bayou Blue and Mighty meaty pizza. It was outstanding. We were immediately greeted at the door and seated quickly. Our waitress Tara was awesome..she made sure all our needs were met. Will be returning many more times.

I have tried to give this place a chance three times, maybe I am just used really good food because I have been a vegan cook for 15yrs. But their pizza is soooo over priced for the quality. Very chewy dough, the four of us seriously had TMJ after we were done. Your Pie is cheaper and you get more topping instead of paying $1.39 for each one (crazy!).

This is my favorite pizza in the area! They always have creative toppings and flavor combinations!

We never have to wait for a table when we get here. The service is fast and friendly. The pizza is delicious. The pretzels on the appetizer are great too. The kids menu is small but all the options are very kid-friendly. My daughter loves the pretzel dippers. Wings are yummy too. Have not had a bad experience.

I try to stop into this location whenever I am in the area. I've been to a few other Mellow Mushroom locations and this one consistently has the greatest staff. Super friendly and attentive. The decor is fabulous and the whole atmosphere is indeed mellow. Love the VW bus inside!! Plenty of vegan and now gluten-free options too.
While my father has been visiting Murfreesboro in advance of my wedding, I had assumed that we wouldn't find too many places that could accommodate his allergy list, which is quite long. Mellow Mushroom has a gluten-free pizza crust, which works well for his wheat allergy. Also, the service was amazing; our server was extra-attentive, and the our drinks were never empty.

Megan M.
Best bar in Murfreesboro, hands-down. Ok, so it's not *just* a bar, but that's the best part of this restaurant. The bartenders are quick, helpful and friendly, as are most of the barflies that hang out there. It's close to the Magical Mystery Bus, but that's mostly full of adults. For a family-friendly restaurant in Murfreesboro, I think I've seen the fewest number of kids running wild at Mellow Mushroom than any other restaurant. And believe me, that's a major plus. As far as chain/franchise pizza goes, you can't beat Mellow Mushroom. They recently expanded their menu and have a lot more vegetarian and gluten-free options, too.

This place was a welcome stop on a long journey. The restaurant itself has a fun early rock motif, including a peace bus. Our waiter (Marquis) was extremely helpful in providing us information that helped us deal with our family's complex dietary needs. Lots of unusual pizza toppings. My daughter enjoyed her gluten free pizza (pictured here). Our pizza was also really great! My only complaint is that it seemed a bit overly pricey for pizza.

Alicia A.
Im allergic to tomatoes, so I thought I could get a white sauce pizza but I couldnt. They dont have white sauce or Alfredo sauce. Also our waiter was very slow. The best mellow mushroom hands down is in piegon forge.

I knooow it's a chain, but this location stands out to me. I've never had an error in my order (and i'm a needy, particular vegan) and I have a particular liking of the folks working here. As Mellow Mushrooms go, this one has all the bells and whistles.. and jerk tofu and tempeh and Daiya cheese, etc. I'll always enjoy a vast beer selection, drink specials, and trivia nights too.

Mellow Mushroom is a fun and unique place. Great pizza with many selections and interesting ideas. Great selection of draft beer. Friendly staff. Basically, if you are looking for something fun and different, yet casual, then you will love this place.

My new favorite pizza place! Have been twice now and have tried 4 different specialty pizzas and they were all amazingly delicious! I would recommend the Caesar Pizza, Caesar salad on a pizza sounds strange but it works really well. I also really enjoyed the Mediterranean pizza with tzatziki sauce. My in-laws are coming to town next week and we will definitely be taking them on their first trip to Mellow Mushroom. The hummus is also highly recommended, it has basil leaves, olive oil and paprika on top. Probably the best I've ever had! I will be going back again and again to try all of the different pizzas.

So Mellow Mushroom is our "go-to" pizza place in our travels but this is definitely the go-to location of all we've tried. Great atmosphere, great beer selection and great staff. Of course the pizza is outstanding. Just discovered the Thai Dye pie. Try one with a good IPA.

I've been a fan of Mellow Mushroom since 1996 when we found out about it in Atlanta. Followed around the new restaurants as they opened in Cumming and Alpharetta. Always the same cool vibe, but each one is set up differently. Missed them for a couple of years when we moved to Dallas. But glad to find one in Franklin when we moved back to TN. Even happier when we found out we were going to get one in the 'boro. Regular customer, since they've opened here in Murfreesboro. Wait staff always seem attentive. Big turnover, but hey it's a college town, that's to be expected. Only one bad experience at this location but they made it right. No worries. My favorite pizza is the "mighty meaty". It's always delivered over the years. Crust is tasty, great sauce, but the toppings put it over the edge. Bacon, ham, sausage, ground beef, and pepporoni's, yummmmmm. The Hawaiin is just has good. Beer selection is better than most. Probably 10 or so beers on tap. 2-3 times as many more in the bottle. Sample paddle if you can't make up your mind or paddle of destiny with all 40 beers. Wow. Super kid friendly. We've got a psychedelic themed bus in the 'boro. Kid's love it. We've never been seated in it. Patio for the warm summer nights. Noisy, yep. Great music playing. All in all a great vibe going and good food. Little bit more pricey than the other chain restaurants pizza joints. But, the food, beer selection and atmosphere make up for the difference. You get what you pay for.

I miss this restaraunt, I moved away from the area so when I was in town a friend suggested eating here. This restaurant has the friendliest staff, the nicest servers, and the best pizza. The pizza here is absolutely the best. Also their beer menu begs mention, it is extensive. I highly recommend eating here to anyone.

Russ B.
This pizza has the best crust on earth, but oh how their customer service has slipped. We have been going here since they opened and always order a custom, medium pie. Part of that is the porta-bella mushrooms. They add $2.59 for that and we used to get six slices of mushrooms that were 4-6" long. Now we get a few bits and the same charge. We also order other toppings and they are thinner and thinner. Pretty soon we'll go to the take home pizza chain and add the right quantity of the real stuff ourselves. For a $20 something pizza this isn't right.

Kim K.
I've been here a couple of times for group dinners. It's fun to sit in the bus area and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. I love the hummus appetizer and the spinach artichoke dip is pretty good too. I would recommend the Kosmic Karma and Mighty Meaty pizzas!

Hope D.
5 stars for the beer! An amazing selection! Our server was fantastic and attentive. We ordered the Holy Shiitake Pizza and it was incredibly delicious! I will definitely be back!
(5)
Katie B.
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the expense. It's just a bit too pricey to eat there every time I want great pizza. I'd try to avoid going there on a Friday or Saturday night unless you're willing to be in the company of lots of families with kids. But if you're bringing your own kids, no problem! They are going to want to sit in the big hippie bus, for sure! Beer selection is fabulous, and they are always happy to recommend things for you. My favorite pizza there is the Gourmet White. Also be sure to try the soft pretzels, but know that they take a while to come out, since they are baked just like the pizzas. Their spinach and artichoke dip is also delicious!
(4)
Melissa L.
I love Mellow Mushroom. It is a great place to go for a beer and a pizza, or even just for a beer. Every pizza I have had has been good, but my favorite is the baked potato pizza. It is so good. All that potato-y goodness with sour cream on top. Yum! There is also a good selection of beers. They even have Abita Purple Haze. One of my favorite hangouts in town.

Good Pizza but wayyy too Pricey! Had $35 Pizza for LUNCH! They charge $2.50 per xtra topping

I am a big fan of Mellow Mushroom. The environment is very unique as well as their pizzas. It's a very friendly atmosphere and the servers are good. Pizza and beer is a great combination! If you have never been to Mellow Mushroom, you must!

I never would have believed it. A Mellow Mushroom in Murfreesboro! I first ate at this delightful chain in Asheville, NC. Yes it does have a very hippie mushroom druggie theme, but it is all in good fun. The other one in Nashville I reviewed more completely. I love the big pizzas and the hummus. There is often a line on the weekend so prepare to wait like 30 minutes. They sometimes have a band too. The pizzas are like big tasty dreams, I wonder if the drug theme is for people who have munchies from a particular thing because the food here really is good. You get a lot for what you pay for, and I always have leftover pizza unless the people I am with are really hungry. I would recommend some of the pizzas with everything on it that way you get the full experience. Definitely a place to check out. Murfreesboro is getting cooler, and cooler.

Excellent hummus, beer and pizza. I really like the Hawaiian pizza with real chunks of ham.

UPDATE: Within minutes of posting this review, I received a message from the owner. He apologized and said he'd address these issues with his waitstaff. Customer service means A LOT to us, so although I said we'd likely not return in my review, we are now willing to give MM another chance. With so many dining options in our area, good customer service and the owner caring enough to read and respond to my review definitely makes me willing to return and hopefully be able to update my review with a more positive experience! --------------------------- I really do not like writing negative reviews, particularly when management attempts to make things right as the manager did here, but our experience was so poor it almost became funny. We came on a Friday night and while the restaurant was busy, it was by no means slammed with open tables and immediate seating. It took 15 minutes for us to even see our server and get our drink orders in, then another 10 minutes to get our drinks. So, almost half an hour in and we finally had something to drink. We immediately placed our food order and our server said it'd be 25 minutes on our pizzas, but our salads came out pretty quickly. However, we both nursed our drinks because our server largely ignored our table. She was new and busy, but she did visit her other tables about 5x more than ours. After 40 minutes, our server said the kitchen had messed up my pizza, they'd bring my husband's out and if mine was too far behind, the manager would comp my pizza. Another 20 minutes progressed and she returned to our table, asking how we were doing. My husband and I are very patient and kind in restaurants, having both been servers when we were young and understanding the pressures, particularly on a new server. However, by this time my husband's patience was wearing thin, so he told the server in no uncertain terms we were not doing well at all. We finally received our pizzas after over an hour of waiting, watching several tables that came in long after us turn over completely, so this wasn't happening to everyone. The manager did come over and apologize. She was very nice and comped both our pizzas (we still paid for drinks and salads), and at that point I thought our night had turned around. However, we were subjected to more long waits for our check and a to go box, which was located at the counter about 12 steps from our table. Again, I know our server was busy but we watched her walk by the counter multiple times and finally my husband got one for himself and we left. We spent nearly 2 hours here, and while the food was good, as my husband said a couple times, we could have had equally good pizzas and salads at the Boulevard and eaten there 3 times in the amount of time we spent at Mellow Mushroom. In spite of all this, we still tipped on what our check would have been before our pizzas were comped and appreciated the manager doing that, but will likely never return.

Excellent pizza, excellent sides, excellent beer. What more do you want? How about the location/restaurant itself? Excellent. If you're in the area and craving pizza/beer. Go. Highly recommended!

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Amazing! That sums up our experience tonight. We are just traveling through, so this was our first visit. However, I guarantee this won't be our last. Hubby and I shared the Holy Shiitake Pie - A blend of Shiitake, Button and Portobello mushrooms with Caramelized Onions on an Olive oil and Garlic base with Mozzarella and Italian MontAmoré cheese drizzled with Garlic Aioli and a spritz of Black Truffle Oil. Garnished with fresh chives and shaved Parmesan. The crust was not too thin and not too thick, with the perfect amount of crisp and chewiness. The taste was amazing - I am in love! Kids each had the Mac & Cheese with apples. I will say that I was not fully impressed with the way the apples were cut (seed pockets attached - you know, that hard area around the seeds near the core that is mom's know to cut around), so we had to do a bit more trimming at the table. But the kids enjoyed their dinners none the less. HUGE beer selection, both on tap and in bottles - even the hubby was impressed (I consider him a pretty big beer connoisseur/critic). We ordered the Cinnamon Sugar pretzels as an appetizer but the kitchen was backed up on those and they actually came out at the end of our meal. That actually turned out to be a good thing because it was the perfect dessert. Our server (Marquis) was extremely friendly and attentive as well - props. I highly recommend a visit to the Mellow Mushroom if you ever get the chance.

Love the food! The staff are very friendly and happy to make sure you are well taken care of.

I believe they have the best Italian sandwich in middle Tennessee. It's a fun atmosphere.

Great ambience, good variety of beers and I loved their Veggie Pizza. Will surely go back soon!

Jerk wings are awesome. Never had anything bad here. Also try garlic pretzels but get the cheese.

Jerk chicken calzone is amazing! So very good! Pizza is ok. Atmosphere is okay as well.

Good place to get some worthwhile pie. Being from Chicago i am picky with what i consider good pizza. I haven't been disappointed yet here.

We love their pizza and 1/2 price apps after 9!

I've been here a couple of times for group dinners. It's fun to sit in the bus area and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. I love the hummus appetizer and the spinach artichoke dip is pretty good too. I would recommend the Kosmic Karma and Mighty Meaty pizzas!

5 stars for the beer! An amazing selection! Our server was fantastic and attentive. We ordered the Holy Shiitake Pizza and it was incredibly delicious! I will definitely be back!

We were able to ask for light sauce on our pizza. We had the Hawaiian. The ham tasted great and the crust had a nice buttery taste.
(5)David D.
I love the food, atmosphere, and service. Great family restaurant but a bit noisy for young kids on days when they have a live band.
(4)chris k.
Great food and atmosphere but the wait staff are a bit stuck up. If you don't want to be there then quit.
