Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Typically, you know your going to get friendly service and consistently good food at a Camino Real, & I have fond memories of going to the Broad St location as a child; I think it was the 1st Mexican restaurant in the Boro. And while our visits at the other locations in Murfreesboro are always good, this was TERRIBLE. I must admit, it was primarily the service and cleanliness (or lack thereof). The hostess was downright rude and the server seemed as if he was exhausted by the very idea of speaking. He tried, a little . . . I guess. We did get everything we asked for. If it had not been for one very hungry family member out of the 6 of us, we would NEVER have made it past 2 minutes of the unhelpful and blatantly rude hostess. All veterans of the food service business, we tried to make the best of it, tried to "kill them with kindness", but the staff and the atmosphere ruined the food.

good food. So I was a little sad that the waiting staff took forever to take our orders, and to bring us our checks. But the restaurant itself is very good. If I enjoyed going to Mexican restaurants more often, I would probably come back here.

This place is wonderful. 1. They have Horchata (most of the time)! 2. Service is always great. Tables and dishes are always clean. 3. I can order a single order of the mixed fajitas, split it with a friend, and be extremely full afterwards. GREAT value for a generous helping of sizzling chicken and steak strips served with plenty of peppers and sweet onions.

Who the heck don't like Camino? We only have half a dozen of them in our lil town! Everything is good!

I eat here at least once a month (usually more). Service is great and friendly and the food is SO good. Fridays and Saturdays are usually packed so come after the dinner rush. Best menu items: Cheese Dip-- you can not eat there without ordering it! Lunch Fajitas-- Good portion, good price. Alambres (with chicken, streak, or mixed) a little more pricey, but DEFINITELY worth it!

One of the better spots in the 'Boro for Mexican food. There is another restaurant that I consider top notch, but many that I consider inferior. Camino Real has done it right for years. From the food, to the waitstaff, to even the Sangria. Man, that's good Sangria! I have eaten all sorts of items from Camino that I'm afraid to even try at other places. I eat at Camino at least once a month in various locations. Each restaurant sticks to the authentic taste and design on their dishes. Did I mention the Sangria? Fat guy approved!

I just have to post an update because being new to Murfreesboro, I posted this about the wrong location. I was trying to post about the location that is off of Old Ft. Pkwy and Cason Lane. I was later told that the location we went to (off Old Ft.) was terrible, and that this one on Broad St. was the one that was the best in Murfreesboro. So I apologize for the crappy review of the wrong location!

The original and still the best in town! Daily food and drink specials. Great food. Great service, Great people! I've been coming here since I was a kid when they first opened... Like.... 25 years ago!!! Can't say anything bad about this place. The manager takes a lot of pride in the food and service and it shows. It's not the newest or nicest building in town, but it's clean, and the staff are fast, and friendly. The original, and STILL THE BEST!!!

"Mexican" is our go-to type of food when my parents come to visit so naturally we gave Camino Real a try. We had high hopes from reading the good reviews. Unfortunately I should have taken the advice from all the negative reviewers. The service was okay and the only reason I even gave two stars was because I liked the salsa. The food itself was awful. My dad said his tamale (one of his favorite foods) tasted funny and my fajitas looked like a heap of chicken tomato slop. I was disgusted with the look of the fajitas right from the start and the taste was mediocre. Please, if you're on the fence after reading the reviews don't waste your money.

Took a friend here for lunch..... We chose Camino Real because we both love the other locations. I probably would say the Antioch location is my favorite restaurant in the metro area.....this Camino wasn't up to par. We had cheese dip. Which was good.... How could it not be. Our service seemed a bit distant or tired. But the part that kills me is the entree. We both had the chicken chimichanga. They got our order wrong right off the bat, but then kinda and quickly fixed it. The food was nothing special. Keep in mind the Antioch location has FANTASTIC food, so I was disappointed. The pico was old, the onions were translucent and it tasted like little more than cilantro. Which normally I would love, but this time I was just too aware they had been holding on to the stuff a bit too long. Future girls lunch out will be at other locations.

The service is pretty prompt. I am not a big fan f the food though. I have been there several times and can't seem to find anything that I really enjoy.

Firstly, parking is a little hectic if they're busy. There's a lot of parking in the back but there is a bit of a walk. The restaurant itself has a weird layout with three dining areas pretty much blocked off from one another. This visit we were stuck in the dungeon-like area behind the cashier stand, where employees apparently like to hang out. The booths in this area are pretty small so it was cramped most of the time. I had tacos pastor and a side of rice. I was also brought a side of beans as well for some reason. I guess they just made it a combo sort of deal. Anyways. Pastor was really good, but very spicy compared to others I've had. Overall service was good and price was affordable. I enjoy all the Camino Reals in the city, but this is the smallest so it may not be as great for parties.

Had my staple beef fajitas. Excellent as always. Service was a little slow for a Monday night and no people in the restaurant.

2nd best Mexican restaurant in the boro. Great food, service, and usually a great environment. It's close to a college campus (MTSU) so usually at night it's jam packed with college kids. Even so, there's a ton of seating for every one so you should get seated pretty quick even if it's crowded.

Used to be the best mexican place in town when I lived there. I still go back time to time and it always seems like great texmex food. Not truely authentic, but the normal American version of Mexican food. If you want some decent eats give this place a try.

Trendy, and large menu... just not my favorite food

They have great lunch specials - but not the BEST mexican I've ever had. Although their white cheese dip is definitely awesome. Good service!

This is the best Mexican food I have ever tasted. My family has been going here most of my life. I highly suggest the Alumbra, it is greasy but oh so so so so good. They have really good bean dip also. The service is usually really fast and the people there are always friendly. You can call ahead and they will have it waiting for you or you can dine in.

A great place to eat; the waiters are typically friendly. And if you have a baby, they're very welcoming. 8 of 10 times, the service is really quick, and you can't beat the lunch menu prices.
