Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I have heard about this spot quite often recently so today I have the opportunity to stop by and as advertised the margarita were really good. They are likely the best in town with the best prices. The service was really good and the food was good but could use some season. Chicken tacos are better than the beef but the quest is OFF the chain good. I will indeed visit this spot again.

my husband and i went here for dinner last friday night because i saw they had live music on fridays and saturdays. we were quickly seated at the booth closest to the musician. we had just missed happy hour so that was a bummer, but we still ordered a pitcher of dos equis. it was reasonably priced at $7 a pitcher. my favorite things here HANDS DOWN were the chips and salsa duo. ¡ay dÃos mÃo! they bring out red salsa but also a delicious, spicy, and smooth bright green jalapeño salsa. the chips and regular salsa alone are great, but add a dollop of the jalapeño salsa in there and you are on another level. of course i ordered the fish tacos (see my other reviews) but they were somewhat disappointing. they weren't very flavorful but a few squeezes of lime juice helped with that. the main thing was that the corn tortillas were completely falling apart from the moisture from the fish. that's always a bummer when eating fish tacos! my husband ordered the hot shrimp and they were better than my tacos. the shrimp were cooked in a tomatillo sauce and served with flour tortillas, beans, and rice. they weren't very spicy if that's what they were implying by "hot" but still tasty nonetheless. not the best atmosphere for a mexican restaurant; brightly lit and not incredibly cozy. the live music was fun though. i will go back just for the salsa alone, but next time i will order a different entree.

Better places for the money and quality in Murfreesboro. One of four meals came out first, then the appetizer 7 minutes later, then 2 more entrees 5 minutes later than the fourth. Don't know about you but prefer and expect all entrees at the same time .

Our regular Friday night stop. Excellent food, great service in the bar area, and inexpensive. Very engaged owner. We love it!

Just finished eating here. Food was fresh, spicy, and piping hot when it arrived at our table. It was tasty and our waitress was extremely friendly. They are really nice portions as well. We all had to take boxes home. Restaurant was clean and so was the bathroom. Definitely recommend.

Superb - clean surroundings- outstanding service - and the only place in the boro serving higado ensabolado ! I would without hesitation recommend this establishment.

This place had just opened when we moved here a few months ago and it became one of our favorites right away. Food is great, service great, and the best margaritas ever (try pineapple, and 2 for 1 during happy hour!). They have gotten really busy quite quickly, probably because they have such good food and very reasonable prices. I see some have not been happy with the service during busy times, maybe give them a chance to adjust to being so busy so fast. I would say their food is worth it though and we have not had any problems with service, though we generally haven't been there during the busiest times.

We heard great things about Alfonso's and that they have live music on Fridays and Saturdays with an awesome happy hour ... we must give it a try! We were greeted promptly at the door but that was the fastest our service was all night. They were very busy so I keep saying that to myself but we told our server we really just wanted to do drinks and may order to go, so just keep our drinks flowing. Could we possibly be the easiest table?? Its 2 for 1 beers and margaritas and they bring 1 beer at a time (fine by me) I like my beer cold but when we finished our 1st beer there was no sight our 2nd would be coming soon. We had to stop the manager and ask if we could get our next round because we sat there with empty drinks for about 8-10 mins. (no exaggeration!) I told my husband, lets not get too annoyed yet. Our server can still save herself from a bad review ... well she didnt come back to check on us and we had to again ask the manager for our bill. We had one round and I couldn't leave fast enough. Oh and the music ... nothing to even comment on. They were super busy so I would give it 1 more try but I cant make any promises.

Ate here earlier this week and haven't stopped thinking about it. The meal started with a presentation of salsa that was tasty in its own right, but included a jalapeño add-in as well as a red chile one. Both delish, and everyone gets their own bowl to eat from -- NICE TOUCH! The chips were unsalted, which I thought was a great idea since I like to decide how salty my foods taste. We started with the "small" bean dip and it was excellent: a bowl of beans (not small) covered in a cheesy sauce with no hint of evaporated milk taste like it has at many other Mexican places. It could have been a meal by itself. I had a combo plate that had a stuffed poblano, enchilada, taco, chalupa, and tamale. My husband had the carnitas. While I thoroughly enjoyed everything on my plate except the enchilada (I prefer a more chili powder and less tomato flavor to my sauce), I wanted to steal my husband's carnitas plate and make him order more! Of course, either plate had enough food for both of us to have shared and we brought home enough for supper that evening (and were none too sorry to be eating leftovers!). If I had to offer advice, it would be that when we were seated, the hostess tried to put us at the booth closest to the restrooms. That's a rookie mistake I see all too often in Murfreesboro since those seats should be the last to be occupied. We had to ask them to mute the television because the noise of it conflicted with the music they were playing. Either would have been fine, but both together was annoying. We enjoyed the Mexican tunes once the TVs were quiet. When we moved to the 'Boro three years ago from South Florida where this Texas girl hadn't had good Mexican food for years, we asked where to go for the best offering. We were told to drive down to Shelbyville, to Alfonso's. We never made it down there, but now we see why we were told to go! Glad to have this addition to the 'Boro!

I come from Texas and look forward to eating here. It really is something special. And I am used to really good Mexican food. I just love it!!!

We sat at the bar and had a great meal. My wife had shrimp with mushrooms and jalapeños, and I had the shrimp Chipotle. Both were very good and the shrimp was plentyful and cooked perfectly. If you like hot and spicy I do recommend the fried jalapeños. When they arrive put the in house season salt and lime juice on them. Also ask for the jalapeño sauce along side your salsa and chips.

Americanized but still decent Mexican food. Attentive service. Everyone gets their own bowl and bottle of salsa, so double-dipping would be OK. Margaritas will sneak up on you, so take them easy. Shrimp cocktails are large enough to be a main course unless sharing. Extensive and varied menu. Music on Saturday night! My tip of the day: The original Alfonso's is in Shelbyville TN.

I love this place! It's close to work so it's great for lunch breaks! Food is always delicious and hot! Service is friendly as well.

This is our first visit here. It was a good experience. I got chicken fajitas, and my wife got the flaming pineapple which was chicken, steak, shrimp and bacon fajitas. It is served in a halved carved out pineapple. When they brought it out, they put a shot of tequila and light it up. Also they have a chili powder season salt on the table in a shaker.

Moved here a year ago and my family and I have searched for a Mexican restaurant to eat. We've tried many and was never satisfied, until we at here. The food is always great. The salsa is wonderful, chips are always fresh. The guacamole is out of the world yummy. Im glad we found this wonderful tasty place.

Food was horrible. I had the burrito California and the shrimp was undercooked. Their margarita's look like dirty sink water. Service is non existent. Will never come back. I think I'm gonna be sick.

My experience here was not good at all. The salsa was made of watered down tomato sauce with no spice. I could've put it on spaghetti. The service was subpar. The waiter seemed mad and kept asking to take our order every 2 minutes when I had just sat down. The margarita on the rock was so watered down. I ordered it, and he came right back with it which leads me to believe it was just sitting there for a long time. It lacked flavor and couldn't even taste much lime. I complained to the gory about it because our waiter was no where to be found. He replaced it with a frozen margarita which was still watered down. I didn't even finish half of it. The enchiladas suiza were decent. I certainly wouldn't go there for that. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. There are much better Mexican restaurants in Murfreesboro.
