I have been here a couple of times when I had a site nearby to inspect. Each time I have come in, the service was wonderful and the food was pretty darn good. I usually don't try specials in restaurants I don't frequent, but you should try the specials here. Also, who doesn't love watching a model train go around on a track suspended from the ceiling?

Decor is nice, server is friendly, food is fairly tasty but they were out of half of the items we wanted to order!! They were even out of plates for our appetizers!! On a Saturday night? Absolutely unsatisfactory. We will not be back. Update: The *only* reason this place got anything more than one star is because the waitress tried so hard. I can't imagine how humiliating it must have been to walk from the kitchen back to our table not once, not twice, but TEN TIMES to tell us they were out of whatever we had ordered. When it came time to order dessert, rather than look at the menu, we just asked the waitress what it was they weren't out of. As expected, the list was short. Never again.

Quick and Friendly service. The food was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. I had the famous fried & crust chicken dinner and I know why it's a popular dish here. It's extremely good I'm not from millington and I'm here for training however I'm happy I came here.

Oh my word!!! I will never come back here again unless I have to. The food was awful, it's old, and the only people in there were old people. I do not know how these places make money and stay in business. We all were sick for days afterwards and swore to never go back. I'm sure it was a great place in it's day but like it's name it's old from head to foot. Not only was the food bad but the staff kept forgetting stuff, the entire place looked like it was stuck in the 1960's or something. Millington is small I know and mostly fast food, but there are some decent places out there I hope because this was not a good experience.

I'm here for business and looked this place up. It is homey and clean. I got the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, greens and cornbread. The sides were average, not bad but not great. The fried chicken was done perfectly however, crisp and juicy. Not much seasoning but I fixed that. A nice place to come when you want a decent southern meal at a reasonable price.

This place was great I had the catfish it was really good and the sides were great. I will be coming back

Great home cookin' really enjoyed the atmosphere and the history that comes along with eating at this restaurant.. BBQ sandwich was great. The spicy coleslaw was a perfect fit to match the BBQ!

I went here with some clients at the navy base - their choice because I would have never picked but glad they did. I had the pulled pork salad -- the salad was HUGE with lots of veggies and lots of pork. All fresh - pork good and tender. The place is very country vibe. good service and love they have a dessert counter with homemade baked goods. Can't go wrong there.

Food is good southern cooking. Everything is delicious. Service is a tad slow, but hey who's surprised given that this is one of those good old southern places. If you want a friendly meal that tastes like your grandmas cooking, come here.

Good homemade southern style food. Our group of ten came for dinner and they provided excellent service. Most of us had bbq but some had fish. All was excellent. I had the pork platter with fried okra and a side of dumplings. Everything was almost as good as my mama's.

I've eaten here a few times and I have really enjoyed it! Veggie plate was delicious! So was the fried chicken on another visit. Will definitely be returning!

The place is ok. Not the best food, especially for the price. Average food, expensive price.

Friendly service and reasonable prices. My fried chicken plate had nice pieces of meat but gave me a stomach ache from how thick in lard it was cooked. Sides were meh. Fried catfish looked good. Kids plates. Boring salads. Cheap drinks. Burgers. I'm not sure what else to say. It was packed and is reputed to be a major institution in town. I guess the way to sum it up is this: if this is your kind of place you almost certainly don't read Yelp. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But if you're cruising Yelp looking for healthy/tasty morsels I don't think this is your place. If your cousin lives around the area though and wants to take you on a visit, don't sweat it, the food is fine. Just know your limits for deep fryers.

My parents and I go to this place when we don't feel like going out to Bartlett for dinner. The all you can eat catfish is pretty good but there is a few ways you can get the catfish cooked. The Cuban sandwich is really good from which I was surprised being from the south. And yes your service depends on who you get and how busy the restaurant is.

Lively atmosphere, but the BBQ sandwich is kind of dry and light on flavoring.

Pretty good. Smoked chicken is awesome. Sundays, after church, the place is always PACKED! Nice family atmosphere. Desserts are so so yummy! But, I'm usually too full to enjoy that! Complaint: What kind of family restaurant doesn't have a baby changing station?!? Hate that!

Although the service seems to be hit or miss here my service was excellent, one of the best Ive had in along time. Tried the country fried steak and it was very good. First time there, very good experience. Just visiting in the area but wouldnt hesitate to go back.

The restaurant is so, so. Wouldn't pay to come back. Waitress had no clue if brown gravy had any meat products and didn't offer to check. Being a vegetarian, the menu is very limited. We ordered fried mushrooms which were pretty good as well as a quesadilla and cheese sticks. We only came to the restaurant because of a going away party or else we would have chosen a veg friendly place.

More than just a bit of local color. Old Timers is a fixture in Millington. The service is always adequate and often excellent, and the food is a comfort. Everything I've had there is old fashioned and tasty. "Sticks to the Ribs" cooking. If you go, take a second to look up to the rafters, where you will see a large scale model train making laps around the dining room on a suspended track.

our favorite here is the southern fried steak. the catfish is pretty good too. the pies are delicious! just simple good home style cooking. my children loves it here because of the train that goes around the restaurant. it's usually pretty packed here but the wait time is never too long.

Casual and always busy. Service is fair depending on who you get for a waitress. It seems the busier they are the slower the staff gets. The food is always great. Portions are big, good flavors and served hot. Just good home style cooking and I do mean home style. The BBQ ribs rate right up there with the best. Now for the deserts. If you are a fan of Coconut cream pie then this place is for you!!! The crust is made from crushed nuts and coconut. It is without a doubt, better than my Moms and nothing is better than my Moms....except this pie.

If you like Southern home cooking, this is the place to eat! Their catfish, field peas, and turnip greens are delicious... So much catfish on my plate, I had to have a carry out box! The coconut pie is good also, but don' t expect a flaky crust.... Is made of coconut and nuts, yummy. Our waitress was friendly, most helpful and quick . We would definitely eat there again.
