MICHELLE C.
My brother wanted to come here for Father's Day, so of course I had to check out the reviews on Yelp. To my surprise there were none. So of course I have to do my duty and let everyone know how great this restaurant is. This is true Country life so there is not much as far as great restaurants in the area. When we pulled into the graveled parking lot, instantly I knew this was going to be a good evening. It is a very large restaurant all in it's own building. It has a Southern casual charm about it. Great place for a large group as they have plenty very large tables to accommodate any size. We were a group of 7 and were seated instantly with no waiting. As soon as we sat down our very friendly waitress greeted us and took our drink order. Boo, no beer or wine so I opted for sweet tea. Ok, let's be serious no one can make such awesome sweet tea like the good ole folks in the South. Then she brought over a pan of cornbread with jalapeno's in it. I do not even like corn bread and was truly blown away as to how good it was. Then she laid out coleslaw in tin buckets on the table. I love coleslaw and am picky about it. Creamy deliciousness. I could not get enough. The menu has all kinds of seafood mainly fried but luckily they offer grilled, blackened, Cajun spiced and a few other options. We ordered a large fried pickles for an appetizer. Large they were. The plate came out and I could not believe my eyes. The pickles were awesome, no complaints, they were so good. Our group ordered a variety of platters for entree's and I chose blackened catfish. Two large filets blackened with such great flavor and perfectly cooked. with a baked potato. The plates come out on plastic plates. This is not a fancy restaurant, just a fun casual place that has some wonderful food. We all enjoyed all of our dishes. My brother and his wife shared a seafood platter that I would highly suggest trying. My sister ordered the fried shrimp that was probably the best dish of them all. The shrimp were perfectly battered and super large. The plates are huge so you will have plenty for a second meal. Service is excellent!!! Southern hospitality all the way. I am so glad he chose this restaurant, as we enjoyed it very much. Then our bill arrived. WHAT???? $113, before tip for 7 people. Crazy, as this Florida girl was in complete shock. That normally is our bill for two people here. I know many tourist come to Pickwick for vacation and I will say this place is a must visit. And for the lucky locals, this would be my Friday date night every week. Excellent restaurant, with amazing low prices, huge portions and the BEST service.
