Holy smokes this place is bad. Not only just as a restaurant but also the side area where they serve double tree breakfast. There's no proper hostess, the food for breakfast is sparse and awful like a motel 8's continental and the service is bad. One night, husband and I came here for two beers that took over 30 minutes to get and cash out. In the morning, they messed up my omelette and asked if I wanted cheese I said no, but they gave it to me anyways. (I can't eat cheese otherwise I would have bit the bullet). On top of that I couldn't really tell who my server was. Sometimes I guess convenience isn't always the best.

The staff was nice but slow. Apprently they were understaffed but it wasn't that busy... All of the food was really good and normally there isn't that much of a wait I'm gonna go out on a limb and say last night was just an off night. They were out of green beans which was upsetting because I was really looking forward to them.

And the one star goes to the bartender. I wasn't even at the bar, but he seemed to have been the best thing going. The food was good when we did get it. They were understaffed, intentionally or unintentionally. It took 15 minutes to be seated, 10 minutes til our order was taken and another 30 minutes to bring us our food. So almost an hour from the door to my plate. My waitress ignored us twice. We had to get another waitress to refill our drinks while we waited. Next time, I'll pack a lunch for lunch.

TGIF has gone down to me. I mean the food is good but the menu items have gotten so expensive and there are absolutely no deals anymore. The portions are small and you don't always get great service. The only good thing would probably be the bar.

Walked into Friday's and was offered an immediate seat at the bar where we were greeted by an awesome bartender he had so much energy and kept the atmosphere live and upbeat we had a great time the food was good the drinks good and strong we truly enjoyed our visit

Was staying at the Doubletree Hotel and this TGIFridays is connected to the hotel in a good location downtown. It was pretty dead for lunch on a Tuesday around noon. I was seated immediately and then promptly forgot about. The original host finally came back to take my drink order about 10 minutes later. Then another 10 minutes passes and my server finally comes to take my order. This is not acceptable! It's a good thing I wasn't in a hurry otherwise I would have walked out the door. Food was overall average. Would not recommend this place based on lack of service or attention to customers.

The only reason I'm not giving 1 star is due to our friendly bartender. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, the host recommended we sit at the bar without even asking if we'd like a table. There were only two of us, so sure, why not. Once at the bar, our bartender got our drink order quickly, but it took him quite awhile to make it. I noticed he was busy, so that's not a big deal. He was very friendly and talkative, so that made up for the slow service. All throughout our dinner the service was terribly slow however, so the host should not have been pushing for people to sit at the bar if it was too much for the bartender. I was very disappointed in our food, I ordered their balsamic chicken Caesar salad & I think I could have made a tastier salad at home. Very bland, just basically lettuce with tomatoes & "marinated" chicken. Try, cold chicken bread with some sauce smeared on it... My boyfriend had a burger and fries, which was disappointing as well. The fries were cold! But after the wait to get our food he just ate them. The burger was ok, you could get a better burger at five guys. All around disappointing visit and we will not be back.

Terrible...all the way around. It has potential to be a great "after game" place when catching a Redbirds game HOWEVER...after sitting in the summer heat, all we were hoping for was some apps to go. The hostess took our order but proceeded to run around and ignored us and then came back to ask what we ordered. After being patient for 20 minutes, we finally came to see that our order was never put in because the woman in charge of that never took our order...system needs a redo. After a polite complaint, the manager took care of our bill which was a positive move. Here is my tip: take advantage of the local joints a little further away from the field. And Fridays...get a better system so you guys can make your people happy and wanting to come after the game.

This particular location is the most dysfunctional TGI Friday's I have ever experienced. The bar staff is attentive but the place is in horrible condition. 3/4 of the beer taps are inoperative, there seems to be no cooperation between the wait staff and the bar staff forcing the bartender to go clear across the building to retrieve orders. Food presentation is sloppy and unappealing. Its rather sad and the management of this location needs to take stock of the situation here.
(1)Joy C.
Can you say gnat city!!!! Omg!!!!!! I almost returned my whole order!!!!! Service was cool, had a optimistic bartender so he kept things rolling! Jack Daniels sauce with a side of shrimp was good!!! Long island, on point!!!! But the pest.... Gnats..gnats..gnats!!!!!! Please get rid of them!!!!

After a long flight into Memphis and checking into our hotel my friends and I realized we hadn't eaten in almost 8 hours. We were glad TGI Fridays was close. Thursday afternoon around 2pm and the place was practically empty, which should mean prompt service and quick and accurate food to the table, right? Nope. Our server couldn't have cared less that we were there, was inattentive and got our orders wrong. The food was subpar as well, too salty broccoli cheese soup and a Chipotle chicken salad that the chicken barely walked through left me unsatisfied and thirsty. Not the place to go for a "welcome to Memphis".

About as bad as it gets! Had I not been pressured to find a quick lunch, without leaving the DoubleTree hotel property, I wouldn't have risked it for anything other than the breakfast buffet (included with hotel stay), but I figured, "How bad can it be?!?" Yep, that bad... food, service, and everything else about it. Too many great restaurants within a few blocks to suffer through this. TGIt's over!
(1)Syd M.
This is a nice place to grab a drink at the bar. Super friendly bartenders; especially Sean. He's attentive and funny. The food is what you'd expect from a typical bar and the same goes for the drinks. The great thing about TGI Fridays it that it's convenient to other bars and entertainment venues downtown. Great spot to stop at before heading to a rooftop party in the spring/summer time. Only negative is that there are gnats hanging around the bar :(

Waitress did not clean our table before we sat down. when we asked her take the trash off of it she became quite slow & rude

Well I always thought a Memphis T.G.I Fridays would be above the rest because on the back cover of Big Star's Radio City album they are in a Fridays! Well maybe things have changed since the mid 70's! We were staying at a hotel connected to this Friday's and they gave us a deal on a breakfast buffet at Friday's so we took.. Not the best idea ever! First off since we had a party of 7 we got sat in the Bar which smelled like stale beer and Mr. Clean! Not a good combo.. Our table was really dirty, so we had our waiter (who was super nice) wipe it down. We got up to head to the buffet and every plate we picked up was dirty I don't know if they grabbed the wrong pile or the machine is not cleaning stuff very well either way we had to tell an employee.. They switched some out pretty quick but I know my appetite was waning at that point. I didn't eat much, and drank a bit of coffee, The manager did come by and give us a slew of free appitizer coupons that expired in about 5 days. I don't think will be coming back. Some of the food on the buffet was cold, and was not presented very well. But oh well everyone who tried and omelet like it. The staff tried really hard and were very nice but this place could use some work.
(2)Steve R.
Bad timing. Came here on a snow day and between shifts. The old bartender was checking out and did not have time to serve the bar
(3)Ronald M.
Great bar, horrible kitchen. I asked Shaun the bartender (with the mohawk) how long would my appetizer take after waiting about 15 minutes. He laughed at me and said, "you'll be drunk before you get your food." Then, walked away. Michelle (she worked at the Winchester Road location) makes PERFECT drinks. Rick (the tall, black guy) is generally good when it's a slow night. My food came out eventually. It was on a hot plate but it was cold. How ironic!? All in all, only come here for drinks before your next move. Do not order any food unless you plan to be here for at least 45 minutes. You do have to constantly remind your waiter to check on your food, no matter who they are.
(2)Amber W.
There is clearly a lack of servers at this location and it is at a detriment to the patrons. I waited for 25 minutes to get my order taken and another 35 for my food...on a Monday! There is no excuse for the lack of service! Probably won't be going back.
(1)Robyn L.
We arrived around 5PM on a Thursday. There weren't many people there and that should have been a clue. But the restaurant was in our hotel. We sat at the bar and there was only one bartender who was friendly, but appeared to be overwhelmed as service was slow. We ordered 2 Dirty Martinis only to find out that they had no olives. Then when we ordered a Martini with a twist of lime, we got lemons instead. The appetizers were half price, hot and tasty. I'm sure there are better places to get a drink and a bite to eat within walking distance. Don't waste your time here.
(2)Pete K.
The manager overheard I was looking a vegan option for lunch. He offered a special creation from the Executive Chef if we were interested. Chef Michaels portobello burger with eggplant fries and split pea and anch chili mayo was over the top outstanding. Great service as well.

When you go into a Fridays you generally know what to expect. Service is generally pretty good with friendly staff and food is acceptable/serviceable. This location is what i would call special. First, it smells worse than Bourbon Street on a 100 degree Sunday morning. I don't know how it is possible to have that smell inside of a Fridays. It smells like swill. Perhaps they should think about adding a little bleach to their mop water. Second, the few people we interacted with simply do not like their job and they let you know it and this included one of the managers. It is not just the normal coldness you might get from someone who has a bad day. No, it was more like a general crummy non-helpful attitude. Although, I will say the hostess was friendly. The bartender and manager were not. We got some drinks and moved on. The smell was just too bad to actually eat food there.
(1)Paul M.
Good as any chain restaurant can be. Bartenders were good and attentive. Fries were good as usual. It's very convenient if you stay in this hotel! We started and ended most of our nights here!
(3)Claudia B.
The flat bread is essentially the only vegetarian item on their menu. I now know why I had never been to TGI's before and are likely to never be back again. That being said, it is a very accommodating place for large groups, but even my meat-eating companions were not overly enthusiastic about the food = your typical chain restaurant.
(2)Sabine F.
T.G.I. Fridays is nothing special. It is a chain restaurant. Food is average and service is okay. We eat here because it is the closest restaurant near the ball park.
(3)Marian B.
Server tonight was not listening plus had to get manager to replace food.
(3)Robert W.
I basically like eating here. The music sometimes is way too loud (plus I don't like rap), so I limit my visits. When the music isn't a problem it is good. Coffee is absolutely horrible (at any Friday's). They apparently use instant coffee and it is an insult to coffee. I should give them a one-star just for their coffee.
(3)Danielle K.
This was not a good stop after an afternoon baseball game. The food is a little pricey for just being ok. The service needs happier helpful faces instead of grumpy vacant ones. Also don't try and order off the menu like changing a grilled chicken sandwich to fried chicken because that is not possible. When we received our check I noticed they had added a service charge and folded the bottom portion that stated the service charge was really the tip added already. They basically want to trick you into giving them tip again in hopes you didn't catch the words srv chrg on the bill! I grew up eating TGIF and I can honestly say I won't be visiting this establishment ever again.
(1)Quasona C.
Eek! Methinks not is correct! We waited 35 minutes for a table and they do not even have a real waiting area, instead you are sent to this back door and asked to wait in the Double Tree hotel lobby! We are seated and had a very friendly waitress that mixed up our order. Not to mention they never gave us silverware or napkins, we had to requests those items. i guess they serve animals that eat without using their hands. I guess it was our fault for resorting to something we thought we count on.
(1)Y V.
Might be the most empty TGIF I've ever seen. But with it being 2 blocks from Beale Street, I understand. It's also the room service provider for the Double Tree Hotel, which is pretty much how I experienced it. My flight didn't get in until late in the evening and by then, I was hungry and didn't feel like figuring out where Beale Street was. Had I known it was only two blocks away, I would've skipped this entirely. You're going to get TGIF quality food. Nothing more, nothing less.
(2)Rion S.
My experiences at this Friday's while staying at the Double Tree were always good. I walked in, sat at the bar, and was greeted by a funny bartender right away. My food came out fairly quickly, and it was good! I ordered the grilled salmon, broccoli, and mashed potatoes, for something somewhat lighter, and was very pleasantly surprised. The Salmon had great flavor, and was cooked just right. Broccoli was nicely steamed. Mashed potatoes were tasty, with some of the skin still in it. On another occasion, I had the Jack Daniels Chicken Sandwich. This is quite a sandwich. I tend to go for lighter fare, so this was a lot of food. It had onion rings in the sandwich, and a pretty rich sauce, which was good, but definitely not light. I was actually hesitant to go to any Friday's, because I travel a lot, and like to experience the local food, not the same heavy stuff at a different Friday's. But I was pleasantly surprised by the service, and the food. I did go on off times, so there was literally no wait.

I wouldn't normally look at a TGI Friday's twice, however, this location deserves a nod. The reason I say this is simply because it is one of the few (FEW!) places downtown that offers breakfast. Having visited Memphis numerous times before moving here, we stayed downtown quite a bit. I remember how much we loathed breakfast. We had 3 choices at that time. 1) Denny's (excuse me while I vomit in my mouth) 2) room service at the hotel (stating that most often we stayed at the Holiday Inn, you have to understand why this wasn't a truly appetizing option. 3) TGI Friday's They offer a breakfast buffet, which although quite small, still offers up a quick and easy breakfast choice for those of you choosing to stay in the downtown area. It's the basics; scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, bagels, hash browns, pastries, cereal and sausage. It's decent food and it is the right price. What more can you say?
(3)Jann S.
Great waitstaff. We loved the Garlic shrimp!
(5)Keith M.
Went a couple of times for a drink only b/c I was at the hotel, actually really good happy hour prices for DT Memphis, but watch out, the tax rate for drinks is about 25% which is added on the back end, so not all that great of prices. Only two TVs, and one was on the Weather Channel one day during happy hour. Staff was loud with each other and customers didn't seem like their top priority. Plus their language and stories were not fit for a family restaurant.

I don't usually go to chain restaurants, but was at TGIF for a work celebration. Basic chain restaurant, but with very poor execution ... Drinks - Came out wrong. One drink came 50 minutes after it was ordered (bartender saw it on the end of the bar and brought it over) -- unfortunately the friend who ordered it had already left. Food - 2 of 5 entrees also came out wrong (i.e. wrong sides, wrong item or missing items). Things not cooked to temp. Just, "Meh" overall. Service - Abysmal. Waitress was friendly, but incompetent. Forgot one cocktail as mentioned above, but also never asked if anyone needed waters or if anyone wanted drink refills. Had to track her down. If we didn't tell her we were ready to order we might have sat there all night with empty cocktail glasses and closed menus in front of us. One of the hostesses was rude and unprofessional when we needed to add 2 chairs to our table (our waitress was nice about this and a (?)manager later apologized about the hostess). Table was dirty when we sat down (not cleaned from previous party) and we had to request it be cleaned off. Avoid, too many other places in the area to grab a bite to eat.

The only thing that keeps this place alive is location and their connection to the Doubletree Hotel. I've been coming here for years when I traveled to Memphis for business, but have only been back once or twice since moving to town. When staying at the Doubletree, it's nice to be able to get drinks and an OK meal to take up to your room without shelling out a lot of money. I think that's about where the fun ends. For some reason this place tends to attract a lot of unpleasant people from the streets of Memphis to its bar. The bartenders and servers seem so overwhelmed by the number of unreasonable complaints about everything and seem so discouraged by the poor or nonexistent tips that they have just given up on good service. Parking is nonexistent, and if you pay to park, few people want to go to Fridays unless it's just the place you happen to be going by. Last time I was in, only three of the six or so TVs in the bar worked and the reception was so bad on two of them, you might as well not bother. There are too many other good places in this part of Memphis to bother with Friday's downtown.
(2)Rudy W.
came here for breakfast every day during my stay @hilton. can't complain. standard breakfast buffet.
(3)Christine D.
Across the street from the Peabody and thus a nearby spot for lunch. The service was good and they took care of us promptly. It was a tasty but not necessarily note worthy lunch. I appreciated their customer service.
(4)Marilyn C.
My daughters and I were staying right across the street at the Peabody so we thought we'd get something quick. Were we ever wrong! There was a system for seating patrons in order but that wasn't being used. After about 7 groups being seated before us that had arrived after us, we left.
(1)Susan B.
We stopped in for a beer to get off Beale Street. The management should have known every hotel was sold out for 12/30. The parade for the Liberty bowl finished up and Fridays filled up. My favorite part was when 2 employees ( who according to management were in training) Sat near the front window with drinks, dessert, and a menu to take a break. I even asked the manager why he did not get the employees back to work. He said they had only been trained for 3 days. I think it is poor form to have employees taking breaks in the dining room. Clearly the staff could not get food or drinks out with the staff they had. The 2 managers never stepped in. There were many angry customers. Fridays used to have standards to included employees shadowing when training now they just get to eat and drink with the patrons and that is how they get trained!
(1)Flip B.
Food is acceptable but not great @ this location across from AutoZone Park. Very disappointing service. Tonight ordered 2 basic appetizers for a meal 70 minutes before the 1st pitch. Friday's couldn't get it done despite a moderate turnout of folks in the restaurant. Also witnessed a beverage spill by the wait-staff at a nearby table - they didn't begin to clean up for nearly 15 minutes. Establishment could take a tip from the staff @ Huey's one block away where service is far superior! I'll stay away from this eatery unless I'm looking to kill an entire afternoon.
(2)justin c.
I have no particularly hatred for TGI Friday's. In fact, as far as franchise bar and grill places go its by far my favorite. However, THIS particular location is horrible. I have been there a few different times, and each time the food has been terrible, and more often than not cold. It takes forever to get seated, even when its not crowded. The service is ridiculously slow, and for the most part pretty apathetic and rude. Its amazing that for a high traffic down town restaurant this place can be so horrible. There are plenty of good dining options downtown, so check one of them out rather than waste your time with this failure.
(1)Angela W.
Average food: Let's face it - you don't go to the chains for high-end dining. I didn't - it was close to my hotel. But... the waiter we had was TERRIFIC! He made the meal great. Just sorry I don't remember his name. A perfect example of how excellent customer service can make average food more enjoyable.
