Went for brews. No list.. Waiter just said "well what do you want and I'll tell you if we have it". Everything we asked for she had to go check and came back with a no... We settled for basic everyday beers then switched to cocktails. They were good and we ended that night with tequila samples the resturaunt was checking out. That definatley made up for the lack of good beer. Turned out to be a good night.

Okay, so this place is super cute. With the patio and everything. And the food was pretty good. We went for Valentine's Day and they had a pretty affordable special going. The app of baked brie was great, but if you are serving baked brie with honey and almonds, bring out some wet naps, cause honey is sticky. He had house salad, I had the Ceaser salad. He didn't like the spring green mix. I thought the dressing on mine was blah. The croutons on both were tiny, tasteless, store bought afterthought type croutons. My dinner was pretty good, some blackened chicken pasta dish that wasn't that tasty and i thought the chicken was pretty tough. My husband had the salmon which he said was fabulous. For dessert, we chose the fried cheesecake. Ugh. Maybe just a bad idea altogether, presentation was nice but tasted more like a leftover cheese danish from a fry shop than what i would expect in a place trying to pass as upscale. When the bill came, there was an discrepancy ( in their favor) ... the Valentine Price Fix meal was $50 for one app to share, two salads, two entree's each with a side, a dessert to share, and two glasses of champagne. We don't drink at all, so we didn't have the champagne, but i didn't mind paying for it as it is part of the price fix. However, they charged us for two sodas at $2.04 each when only my husband had one, as I had attempted to order iced tea but they don't have that, so I had water. I've no doubt that for catering etc, this place is probably really great. The service was attentive and polite. For me, though, and this did truly ruin my opinion of this place (though nothing could ruin any outing with my amazing valentine) is that this is a liquor lovers smoking bar. They don't have iced tea, and there is smoke everywhere. When we walked in the door, it wasn't smokey, and there were children in there, so it never occurred to me. But soon after we were seated, people all around us lit up. They didn't seem to have any fans or air filtration at all, as it is a smoking establishment. I think that should be posted on the door. I had to shower again as soon as we got home and we had to take our coats to the dry cleaner this morning. So all in all I'd say this restaurant just wasn't a good fit for me. Very cute inside. Looked to be a decent bar. Good people watching. Service was quick and accurate, hostess came around about three times to check on everyone, but somehow service just didn't seem very "warm". But the food was just so-so, how can you have a restaurant in Memphis, TN and not serve iced tea? Nothing wrong with this restaurant, by the time the bill came my nose was burning from the cigarette smoke and we didn't even take the time to fix the problem on the bill. Probably great if you are a smoker who doesn't want drink iced tea. The brie was very good and my husband said the grilled salmon was amazing. Happy smoking!

I was going to side street before the renovations and long before I was old enough for one of their kick ass martinis. Side street is a great place to dine alone or meet friends for good food and cocktails. The wait staff is attentive and very friendly. If dining alone I promise you after a few martinis you will make a friend or two at the bar. They have amazing appetizers and it's hard to choose just one so I suggest getting a few different things to try. I personally love the Memphis Fries and the egg rolls. I'm a midtown girl so take out from Side Street was always a must for me and when I did I usually got their Philly cheese steak and fries...omg soooo good and very filling. I love a good steak and Side Street definitely delivers the New York strip cooked medium is a great choice and I enjoy it with the creamed spinach. Really I could go on and on about how great this place is but I believe yelp has a limit on how long these things can be.

I decided to stop by for brunch based on a very good recommendation and maybe my heightened expectations contributed to the low score, but that wasn't entirely the problem. I ordered the steak and eggs Benedict and it was incredibly underwhelming, specially for the price. (Just over $16 when it was all said and done, no drinks.) I've definitely had much better eggs Benedict for much less but the steak didn't help much either. The service was not terrible but a solid "meh" at best. Might still give this place another chance on a regular meal or a drink since it's been around for so long.

One of my favorite local restaurant Memphis, Overton Square district! The chicken cordon blue and jambalaya was spectacular. Carrie, our waitress was at tentative to every detail. Timing of food was perfect. Casual dining and great atmosphere! Highly recommend to all visiting Memphis. Memphis does offer more than just barbecue!

What looked to be a great find, ended in strong disappointment. Food was just ok. White wine for my wife was served in a hot/warm glass right out of the dishwasher. She specifically asked if the pasta dish could be made without mushrooms, only to have about a dozen in it after the server confirmed it could. When I asked if they had grinding pepper for the Caesar salad, another server pointed to the pepper shaker.....which ironically was empty. Finally, I ordered the steak medallions with Béarnaise sauce....the steak was decent but the sauce was more along a hollandaise without tarragon. Her pasta was merely warm. Very friendly server and the restaurant was very clean.

This is one of my favorite restaurants! I've been coming here since '06 & I am never disappointed. I love the buffalo dip they've added to the appetizer menu. My favorite dish is the Side Street salad with grilled salmon and ranch dressing and an Apple martini.
(5)Michael P.
Decent little joint. I had the portabella burger which was great. Had a generous slice of smoked gouda on there. Probably would have given it a 5, but they didn't have the artichoke dip that I wanted. Sounded good. Maybe next time!

A small cafe with quaint seating in the front was packed on Saturday night around 11-ish pm. The seating inside was almost at full capacity but was such a disappointment because it was loud and hot! We should have tried to sit outside because it was cooler and quieter. Decor: outdated yellow walls with a few small black and white photo on the walls of old Hollywood starlets, pinstriped curtains, outdated, mismatched bookshelves behind the bar with maroon fabric (about 2ft long) hanging from the ceiling that marked off the bar area - it reminded me of a hospital curtain that slides on a metal railing (bizarre). The vents on the ceiling were so filthy - They were covered with dark oily or furry gunk! The lighting was bright, so I definitely noticed. Service: Every waitresses hustled around quickly but none of them smiled or looked friendly or dressed professional, most wore jeans, shorts and a t-shirt or tank. We seated ourselves and ordered within five minutes of seating, but then waited at least 30 minutes for the food. Our waitress slammed our dishes and utensils down on the table every time she whirled by to the kitchen, then disappeared for a long time. Another waitress informed us they were out of a food item, so we're re-ordered. Food: I ordered the smoked chicken nachos and BF ordered steak kabobs but they were out of steak and out of baked potatoes, so he opted for portobello chicken with sweet potato fries and a side salad. Chips were ordinary with liquid cheese drenching the layers but then there was some sweet, hot spice underneath (I think It was buffalo sauce). Chicken pieces were small and unremarkable, sour cream and jalapeños on the side. The underlying flavor was so sweet and spicy that I couldn't continue eating. BF's salad had torn lettuce, two large quarters of tomato on either side with three of the thickest slices of red onions I've seen on a salad. The portobello was very sweet and sour (balsamic?) and the chicken was ok. The sweet potato fries were the best thing and were sprinkled with cinnamon. We didn't have Martinis, but maybe we should have so we could forget about this place... Disappointing.

I like the laidback atmosphere and great quiet outdoor seating. Inside it smells very smoky because the adjacent bar is open to the restaurant. Servers are very friendly and appropriately attentive. Ordered Salmon Picata to go while enjoying a nice Hob Nob Pinot Noir on the patio, listening to music from the Square's 45th anniversary celebration. Hubs didn't much like his top shelf margarita but sitting outside on a breezy Friday afternoon on quiet Florence St during happy hour is pretty sweet. Verdict - the Salmon Picata was a winner - salmon was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right - the accompaniment was so so so delicious and a fresh salad made a good size meal for a great price

Great little place off of Overton square. We parked in the ihop parking lot and walked over. I had the Cuban and hubby had the Portabella sandwich with Gouda. Cuban was great, but the best is the sweet potato fries. Tossed in cinnamon and sugar, they could be dessert. I didn't have a martini since I'd drank a lot so far this weekend, but I'll definitely be back to try some of the extensive martini list. Service was great and we had a couple of special requests.
(4)Joelle P.
They have a truly kick ass black & bleu salad partnered with strong as hell martinis. These two facts keep me returning. Oh, and I like that it is midtown. I guess technically Overton Square...but farther back, quieter, away from "the scene" found at Local and Bar Louie...parking is easier to find here and the people are more laid back. This ain't a fancy place but I always leave here with a buzz. And their food is definitely good. I truly love their bacon-wrapped filet and could sing a love song to their brie drizzled in honey served with apple slices (I skip the nuts). The martinis are a teensy bit on the expensive side...but trust me, they'll knock you on your a**. I mean that in the best way possible. Surprisingly, the food is very well priced...especially those steaks. All in all, winner winner chicken dinner....errr, I mean steak.
(4)Shawn M.
Once again i have tried another place I really love. This was my first visit and the food and drinks were excellent. The really like the atmosphere if this bar. It wasn't full of smoke and the music wasn't over bearing. I recommend this place highly. We will be back.
(5)Christian H.
It's been a while since Side Street has been reviewed, so I thought I'd chime in. I've only ever been in the much darker and more intimate Red Bar side and on the expansive patio in the summer. It's sort of become our end-of-the-night go-to bar when I'm out with my girlfriend's friends, who (unlike me) generally prefer something a little nicer than a dive bar. Service has generally been friendly and quick. The brie appetizer is a huge favorite, and the wings are pretty tasty, too. It's a good place to wrap up a date or a late night on the town - definitely my favorite bar/restaurant in the Overton Square area.
(4)Charles M.
Good menu and atmosphere. It was a little too bright but still comfortable. The Italian spinach is amazing and so are the drinks.
(4)Terence C.
The place has great atmosphere. I went on a Tuesday evening. Relatively quiet. It was HOTT as a firecracker outside, so my party and I chose to sit indoors. Service was good. Pleasant waitress, attentive. I ordered from the bar, Chardonnay, my drink of choice. I ordered the Chicken Nachos as my entrée. My plate came quickly. I must say, I ordered the Nachos because it is something I would not order (typically) at any restaurant. The food was rather bland. Basically, pulled chicken covered in a Queso sauce scattered over tortillas with tomatoes, scallions. The chicken had (absolutely) no flavor to speak of. It tasted as if it had been poached without benefit of salt or pepper or any additional spices. It might have been poached in its own broth. When one orders Nachos, one expects some level of added spice or something that would give the dish some pizzazz... there was none. The only heat was that of the weather and the jalapenos served along side my nacho dish. It was my first visit to Memphis in 15years...and my first visit to Side Street Grill. Both were rather disappointing. I'm returning in a few weeks, maybe, I'll give Side Street another go.
(2)Emery G.
The worst experience in the world. The waitress was trouble, the food was trouble, the drinks were trouble, and manger mgmt skills were trouble. Do not go to this place, with all the trouble in one night including a almost fight, I DEFINITELY DON'T RECOMMEND! !!!!
(1)Hannah G.
I love this little bar! The inside is nice, and they have a great patio. It's right off the square behind the Overton Square garage, so the atmosphere is nice. When a band is playing on Thursdays you have live music in ear shot. I had the mint chocolate martini, red headed bitch, and the death by chocolate (I think I have all those names right), and they were all *delicious*. My friend and I got the artichoke dip to share, and it was so good. It comes with little crostinis so it's a nice crunch texture with warm dip. I had bacon wrapped chicken with mashed potatoes. My mouth is watering thinking about it. Really wanting to take advantage of their martini specials they have during the week (can't remember what day, just that they had a sign at each table). They all sound so good. Great service, great experience!
(4)Christina N.
This place is easily overlooked since it's on a side street to Overton Square. Don't be fooled though, just because it's on a side street doesn't make it any less deserving than the other fabulous places in The Square. This place well exceeded my expectations. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. It's not a huge place, however they manage to feel intimate without feeling like you're on top of other people. They have a fabulous bar and bartenders that are so awesome!!! Cocktails were well made and presented beautifully. Biggest surprise though was how outstanding the salads were. Huge portions, fresh veggies and meat seasoned beautifully! This place has their quality and customer service on point! I think the bar is the best spot there, so check it out along with one of their salads!

Side Street is one of those places I rarely think about as an option for dining in Midtown. It is, after all, located on a side street and not easily visible from the cross streets of Madison or Union. We were looking for a place to enjoy a meal with a few friends before heading downtown for a party. I don't know why Side Street entered my mind on this occasion, but I'm glad it did. We sat near the bar at a high-top table; no waiting. Our server was quick to get our drink orders and tell us about the specials. I'd say the menu is fancier than 'casual' but not quite fine dining either. You will not find nachos or chicken wings listed among the appetizer, but you will find bacon wrapped shrimp and grilled chicken skewers. They also serve salads, sandwiches, pasta, and entrees of pork, beef, chicken, and seafood. Two of my friends were sold on the special which was a pork loin entree. They decided to share. My boyfriend ordered the New York Strip and he agreed to let me have a few bites. I ended up ordering the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer for my meal. We all ordered side salads. I had the house side salad which was actually pretty similar to the Cesar salad. Not very exciting but it was fresh and the dressing was good. The shrimp were awesome. I loved the spicy remoulade dipping sauce. The steak was also excellent. I didn't try the pork dish but it looked tasty as well. We had great service on this evening which was definitely an improvement over a previous visit that I decided not to yelp about. I would love to come back once the weather warms up and sit on the patio.
(4)Brittney H.
I actually really, really like this place!!! They have awesome shrimp and grits. They also have several specials throughout the week and an awesome brunch menu on Sunday! Go! It won't disappoint!

Thursday import beer night is fantastic value - $2.50 bottles, and also some domestics have found their way on to the "import " list. Food is decent. I usually get the portobello sandwich, which is tasty, and the fries are good. I've also had it with a side salad, which is basic but tasty. The crowd is a nice mixture, and the servers are usually very friendly and relaxed. It's a great place to have a chilled evening out.
(4)Michael S.
Used to be one of my favorite places for casual good food when I lived in Memphis. I tried it tonight and WOW has it changed. The food was awful. I mean absolutely terrible. Everything from the appetizers to the entrees. Everything was way over salted and the parmesan crusted tilapia that I used to love came out deep fried and tasted like it had been fried with chicken. I literally had one bite and couldn't stomach any more. The Greek pasta sounded delicious on the menu but I've had Lean Cuisine with more flavor. The service was mediocre at best although our server was very sweet. I hope tonight was an off night for them because if not I'm afraid that one of my favorite Memphis spots will be gone the next time I visit.
(1)Roman S.
Side Street is a bar first, so if you want a drink - especially a martini - then come here. In other cases, i.e. you favor a large selection of beer or you are looking for creative approaches to food, I would go elsewhere. I had the regular Side Street steak, medium rare. I wouldn't know if it actually was, since it was covered in Bearnaise sauce, consider asking for it on the side if you want to alter between plain steak and sauce-on-steak bites. The Caesar salad felt generic, I couldn't find hints of anchovy or other signs of the dressing being home made. (Their drinks did look like they received the additional effort though.) My wife enjoyed her burger, but I am not sure I would return for the food. So again, if you are looking for a stiff drink, this would be a fun place. Cigar smokers are fond of sitting outside later in the evening or in the smoking section, which can draft into the main section at times.

Side Street is one of my favorite places to hang out in Memphis, so I actually can't believe that I never wrote a post about it. It has an awesome patio, good drinks, a friendly staff, and good food. There is such a variety of food to choose from. If you want to try a new drink, they have an extensive martini list, basically every flavor imaginable. They're a bit pricey, though. However, they have many daily specials. And on Monday, they have martini specials: $5 for a regular and $10 for jumbos. On Tuesdays, they have pint night and pasta night. I'm not sure what the deal is for pint night. For pasta night, you pay $20 and get two pastas and an appetizer. My favorite day is Wednesdays. You pay $28 and get any two steaks and an appetizer. The meals also come with salads and a side. Their spinach is the best. On Thursdays, you pay $2.50 and you get any import bottle. Unbeatable price! They have happy hour during the week from 4:00 to 7:00. It has a full bar. Well drinks are about $5. They have a variety of salads. You can add chicken, steak, or salmon to them. Lots of people love their chicken skewers. They have great fries. They also have cheeseburgers and of course, I had blue cheese on mine! They have a variety of desserts. I love this place.
(5)Maggie W.
Enjoyed the food, drinks, and atmosphere. Our service was also good, which is a plus for me. I had the blackened tilapia fish tacos, and my boyfriend had the Cuban sandwich. We both enjoyed our meals, but we LOVED the sweet potato fries! Would definitely return to try a martini since we had beers!
(4)Amanda L.
The atmosphere of this place is great. Not as busy as the rest of the square can get. A great place to share a bottle of wine with friends. Food is average but at a better price than most places. I had the bacon wrapped fillet which was excellent except my mashed potatoes were dry. My friends had the blackened chicken pasta which was huge, but a little bland. Servers were very attentive and super nice. Would definitely go again or make it a week day ritual.
(4)Amanda E.
I've been to side street a lot because I have a group of friends who just love it. The patio is cool and the interior decent. I feel like side street has a little bit of an identity crisis - TVs around airing sports but light music on the sound system, hmm. The menu is very eclectic but leans more towards the dressy casual night spot - I think. I really like the appetizers and usually make a meal of those - especially the buffalo egg rolls. The identity crisis is odd but doesn't bother me, what does bother me and is the reason for the star deduction is the drinks. I have tried their delicious sounding cocktails twice and both times had a "cheap vodka hangover" the next day. At $12 a drink I expect big girl vodka, not the crap I was drinking in college. Their wine selection is weak and thus I'm usually sober when there - it will never be my choice weekend spot.
(3)Aly S.
Love Side Street! I already loved it, but decided to try something new Friday night. I just turned 40 two weeks ago & totally forgot that my license was expired. After being turned away (&completely offended) by Local Pub around the corner, it was a welcome relief to go to a friendly, familiar place. The food was great- as always. Our waiter was super sweet. Everyone we encountered made us feel glad we were there & seemed equally glad to be there. Next time I won't waste my time trying something new. I will go back to where I know they appreciate my business. Thank you Side Street!!! (We didn't drink so there was no need to show our id and they were perfectly fine that we drank water and had desserts.) Great place for a regular hang out spot & a great meal with drinks (if you indulge. :-)
(5)Karen L.
I came here last Wednesday night for the steak special (seemed like a good idea at the time), and it was...disappointing. It wasn't very busy, but everything took forever to come out. The ahi tuna appetizer was incredibly bland and felt like a waste of what was hopefully good quality fish. The Caesar salad, without croutons, was a sad heap of flavorless wilted lettuce. My filet, ordered medium rare, was more of a medium, at least in my opinion, and I had multiple encounters with the toothpick holding the bacon wrapped around it -- can't they take that thing out before they serve it, so I don't end up sawing through it with my knife and then picking out the pieces? The spinach on the side was the best part of the whole meal, which is a pretty sad statement. Our server was nice, but gave no indication that she was aware of the long wait time, and since the food is brought out by any random person, I didn't feel like I could really complain that my steak was more done that I would've liked...and now that I think of it, I don't recall anyone asking us how our meal was. My boyfriend just suggested going here for dinner tonight, and I said no -- why come back here when he can make me a much better steak at home?
(2)J B.
Nice atmosphere, very nice & attentive staff, great burger too! Hubby had the Salmon and it was nicely cooked & tasty! Fresh ingredients on everything. Very nice patio that we would have been on except for a very smelly cigar smoker out there too....dang it! That would have been perfect. Only detractors were blah French fries somehow, and a very loud bartendress.
(4)Colleen G.
Side Street Grill is cool because every time I go, no matter what day, there is some type of drink special that works to my advantage. I like this. I've been 3 or 4 times, but always sat outside on the patio. Not sure really how it is inside, but I really like sitting outside there. Even with all the construction in front of it (Side Street is located near what will be the Overton Square parking garage), it's a good place to hang out for a while. I really like their salads. The buffalo chicken salad was pretty good, but I really liked the Black & Bleu salad. Burgers are awesome. I went with my mom here once and she still talks about the burger she had that day! They have an extensive martini menu...and two sizes for martinis. It's very evident you should just get the larger sized martini. More bang for your buck. The smaller ones are like slightly bigger than shots, and not all that cheap. Good beer and wine selections from what I've seen. Service is always good. Sometimes on the patio it can be a little slow, but they are always really friendly. Good, affordable dining and drinking in Midtown. I do like this place a lot.
(4)Carlton R.
Great patio area. Doesn't get too crowded like the other places around Overton square. Chicken cordon blue was great and so was the pasta. Fried pickles were good as well.
(4)Adriane W.
I was intrigued by the reviews, so I had to check this place out. The shrimp skewers were good. The remoulade makes them. I had the Side Street steak--medallions with Bearnaise sauce, spinach, and garlic mashed potatoes. The sauce was separating by the time it made it to the table, so the saucier needs a little practice. But the flavor was good. The temperature wasn't quite right, but the meat was also tasty. The spinach was this very odd scoop of overcooked greens with something, maybe cheesy, in it. I won't be doing that again. The potatoes were fine. They seemed to have a system of serving non-alcoholic beverages, including water, in styrofoam cups. That was very disconcerting. It's a tremendous amount of waste and is also aesthetically unpleasing. I hadn't seen or been served in a styrofoam cup in over a decade. If I want to go for drinks, I'm likely to go back because I enjoyed myself. And I may even eat there again because it's fine.
(2)Tim W.
Very disappointed. Had a reservation for 15 today at 4 that was scheduled last Saturday. The manager called to confirm today at 1. At 3:30 we were told that they had a private party until 5 today and that our reservation was canceled. Will not go to this location again and I strongly urge you to avoid. The service was slow last Saturday to boot so we're probably better off at Jack Magoos.
(1)James S.
The food is pretty okay. Their happy hour, like so many other places, is selective as to what is included, and they will catch you if you are not careful and very specific. If you think "well drinks" covers the well gin martini, guess again. The manager when I went there last night acted like he could care less when asked about that. Plenty of other, nicer, newer places in Overton Square. Go someplace else.
(2)Chuck S.
Never had anything bad here. Will always be on my short list of places to eat when I'm in midtown Memphis. Good steak. Good salad. Great drinks too. My hands down favorite item is the Salmon BLT. I can't wait to visit again.
(4)Tita P.
Okay here is the unspoken thing that we all know about Side Street. it is a "creep" bar. By creep I don't mean creepy people. I mean I have a boyfriend/girlfriend BUT I am sorta seeing someone else on the side. It's dark, cozy, and basically on a side street. So, imagine my surprise when I walk into the remodeled, after the fire,Side Street Grill. It was REALLY well lit. I mean REALLY well lit. So much so that if you were going to "creep" you needed leave your sunglasses on. Now that I got that out of the way..I still love Side Street Grill. I especially love it when it's warm outside and you can sit out front with one of their yummy martini's and catch up with friends. Their drinks are still good and their food is still good. I look forward to going back home to Memphis and stopping by Side Street but ummmmm no creeping for me! :-)
(3)Jan S.
Try their Cuban Sandwich. It's delicious! Friendly service, a great menu, and a good selection of drinks add up to a a dining/drinking experience I always appreciate. I've always been a big fan of the prices and portions of the food there. It's a shame I now live three hours away as opposed to three minutes.
(4)Jolynna M.
I have good news for Side Street fans. After burning down a while back, the place is all set to reopen in less than a month, with an expanded menu, no less. I'm excited to see what they come up with. I've always considered Side Street as more of a bar than a restaurant, but that's not a fair assessment, because the food is actually really good. A couple of my favorites are the Artichoke Dip (can't get enough of it) and the Jamaican Pork Tenderloin, which is simply prepared, but spicy and delicious. They have an extensive martini list and Monday is $2 import night.
(4)Mechelle M.
This is one of my favorite places but the smokers make it hard for me to return! It would be awesome if it was a smoke free environment!
(4)Mike J.
Three of us went tonight. Poopsie had Portabella Primavera. She said it was horrible. Usually she is not quite that expressive so it must have been bad. She said the vegetables tasted like something that had been found in dishwater. My steak was OK, done a bit too well for medium rare and rather tough and tasteless for a rib eye. The spinach stuff was tasty though. The ambiance is non-existent, it's a pretty run down place. Service is there, not very enthusiastic. Saving grace? It's not very expensive.
(2)Randy O.
$20.00 Mimosa on Sunday...You get a full bottle of champagne & a beaker of orange juice...What a great deal!
(5)Denise R.
Side Street is a great place whether you want to hang out with friends and have a great meal or you go alone to have drinks at the bar. There are lots of friendly and diverse regulars. They have a new menu since reopening, and we've tried several of the new dishes. Hubby's favorite is the vegetable skewers. I loved the grilled cordon bleu. The spinach is still great as are the steaks.
(5)David B.
This place isn't the same.... The remodel was necessary after the fire, but you made the place look like some upscale-wannabe snooty Collierville joint instead of the midtown/square staple that it always was. It's way too noisy in there now, all the original woodwork that managed to muffle the echo and racket is now replaced with fine finished glass, hardwood floors, and perfectly flat walls/ceilings, making it a sound chamber from hell... Food's still good though, I'll give them that much, and the server was literally drowning me in drinks, kept replacing them when I got down to a little less than 1/4 glass. Still like going here, and will continue to return, but I'm just not pleased with the new look/feel of the place, doesn't feel like "home" anymore...

The Side Street Grill is one of best (and underrated) restaurants in Memphis. The quality of the food, whether it's steaks, pasta, sandwiches or desserts, is superb. It's great place to dine, especially late at night when most of the city's other restaurants are closed. In addition to the food, the social atmosphere is great, for I usually meet a lot of interesting people there. The marinated rib eye steak is one of the best steaks I've had in Memphis. The steak is well-seasoned and is so tasty that steak sauce isn't needed, in my opinion. Goes great with either creamed spinach or mashed potatoes. Also, the pasta dishes are excellent. Among those, my favorites are the the Cajun Pasta and the Shrimp Alfredo. My only complaint about the Shrimp Alfredo is that it is too watery (I always wear a bib when I eat it). However, I still enjoy it and for a non-Italian restaurant, it is an excellent place to get pasta. As for other dishes, my favorites are the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and the Fried Cheesecake. The Philly is made with big chunks of steak combined with red and green peppers, onions (which I tend to do without) and of course, cheese. Compared to places like Lenny's, whose cheesesteak sandwiches are actually hoagies, this sandwich, despite the fact that the meat is chopped instead of sliced, is the real deal. Whenever I eat the Fried Cheesecake, which comes in rolls of cheese wrapped around fried dough coated with either chocolate, caramel and strawberry (I might be wrong about the last favor). I eat the caramel version with a glass of Bailey's Irish Cream that I use to dip the cheesecake in. This dessert is such a favorite of mine that I get it even when I've had dinner at another restaurant. Several months ago, the Side Street Grill had burned down. The restaurant is on the verge of being rebuilt and should re-open soon. I am anxious for this, because it is one of my favorite restaurants that I sorely miss. I wish the place the best of luck and hope to dine there again soon. NOTE: Since writing this review, Side Street Grill has re-opened and is better than ever!

I went in for the steak and martini special. The steak was very undercooked and yet tough and the martinis were awful because they were made with cheap ass gin. I figured, you get what you pay for, right?. Wrong. Apparently, we did not order the "special deal" steak and martinis we ordered the regular version. Why would the waitress not say something? What a scam. If I had not just had two martinis I would never have paid that ridiculous tab. Also the place is run down and gross.
