Well after a false start today at another bbq spot, I knew Memphis had to come through for me; and One and Only BBQ didn't let me down! Great sauces tableside. Free drink refills. Hot fast food. Tasty meat. Great choices of both meat preparation and sides. Boom! Just like that my faith in Memphis BBQ was restored. Make it a point to stop here for all your BBQ cravings! ;) And don't skip the house made Deviled Eggs. Deeeeeeelish!

Up until I had the opportunity to dine at One and Only BBQ, I thought that Central BBQ was about as good as it gets. Wow, now I need to amend my review for Central because One and Only is my new one-and-only spot to get BBQ in Memphis. This place is legit. Food: As I do with most BBQ joints, I like as much of a wide variety of food items as I possibly can in order to adequately evaluate a broader spectrum of their offerings. As such, my choice for food was the 2-Meat Platter (where ribs was one of the meats, and Pulled Pork the other). The sides were the twice-baked potato salad, and the cole slaw. We also finished the meal with Banana Pudding. Ribs: Holy shit. Literally, some of the best ribs I have ever had, but for entirely different reasons than I am used to. These ribs were seasoned PERFECTLY. They were not over-dressed with spices that were too bold, smokey, spicy, etc. They were seasoned very delicately and simply; but with incredible effectiveness. Their texture ... my God, the texture. So many places jack this up. Ribs should not be falling-off-the-bone. They should still have a little bit of a meaty bite to them -- they should separate from the bone with a little bit of work, but not too much. It is a strange balance, but one that One and Only strikes perfectly. (5/5) Pulled Pork: The pork itself is a little on the dry side, but it is meant for you to mix in a little bit of their sauce to moisten it up a bit. For me, the pork was perfect. Like the ribs, it was seasoned to perfection. It is very important to note that their meats have a beautifully-well coaxed smokiness to them. They are not overly-smoke-heavy like so many other local places. The smoke is there as an enhancer, not a main flavor. It is beautiful. (4/5) Sauce: There sauce is the standard for BBQ, in my book. Again, BALANCE. It is incredibly well-balanced between tangy, sweet, smoky, spicy, etc. It is the whole package -- both their original and spicy versions. Everything that you put this sauce on will taste better. (5/5) Twice Baked Potato Salad: For me, this was a little bit too much sour cream. For my 4 year old daughter, it may be the most favorite thing she has eaten in her life. She devoured it! Like I said though, I think the overwhelming flavor of the sour cream may have masked some of their flavors a bit. Overall, unique and good though. (3/5) Cole Slaw: This is going to sound like an insult, but it isn't. It is similar to KFC's cole slaw. Mind you, it is better, but it is similar. It has a nice, natural sweetness; but also a pleasant tanginess / vinegary-ness that compliments the other items on your plate. I won't go out and get a pint of this and sit on my couch and eat it, but with everything else -- or topped with some of that BBQ -- this stuff is good. (3/5) Banana Pudding: The best I have ever had -- by far! Incredible. No weird after-taste, super-well-balanced, and exploding with flavor. The custard is velvety and has a smooth flavor. Just excellent. (6/5) Whole Smoked Wing: Incredibly moist, light smoke flavor, paired perfectly with either BBq sauce. This was the best Smoked Wing I have ever had. (5/5) Food: 4/5 Service: The service was mostly-friendly, sort of prompt, and kind of efficient. Service: 3 / 5 Atmosphere: This is a small, little joint with only about 6-10 tables on the inside, and another few on the outside. I can see how this place would get wicked cramped with more than a few parties. Despite the small stature of the restaurant, it is a cozy, little place with an authentic Memphis atmosphere. I really enjoyed everything about the inside. It was also clean on both the dining room and restrooms. Atmosphere: 4 / 5 Price: For everything, I think we paid about $30 after tip for the 3 of us. That is pretty good for some of the best BBQ I have ever had. I would come back here time-and-time again if I wasn't moving out of state. Price: 4 / 5 Final Thoughts: I am devastated that it took me this long to find this place. It took me moving out of the State to try something new, and now I am saddened because I may never get to eat here again. Additionally, One and Only has also created me a great deal of work, because now I have to go back and update my reviews for every other BBQ place I have Yelp'd in Memphis. If you haven't eaten here, you are missing-out big time!

Small store serving classic BBQ. Ideal for a quick lunch, very casual dinner, or carry out. I had the Two Meat Including Ribs: half wet, half dry, brisket, slaw, and twice baked potato salad. The wet ribs were over cooked, burnt and dry. When I asked the waitress if that was normal she said they grill the wet ribs "a little longer" to seal in the moisture...that makes no logical sense. The dry ribs on the other hand were spot on! I was a little surprised with the brisket. It was tough, sliced super thin, lacked any crust. and was super lean which significantly limited the rich and robust flavor profile beef brisket is known for. The slaw tasted bland, like that out of a jar but the potato salad was rich and creamy. All in, the dry ribs and potato salad were great and I will try them again...perhaps.

Why should you go into this tiny, crowded little place? Because the BBQ is ON POINT!!! I have only had the BBQ quesadilla so far, but it was stuffed chock full of delicious, tender BBQ. The sauce was maybe a tad too sweet for some, but I am in love. This is the way Memphis does BBQ!!! I can't wait to try more menu items.

Friendly service and good food. A bit on the small side with limited seating. Need to expand. Try the 'pigtine'. It's off the menu and my personal twist on poutine; fries with smoked pork, bleu instead of curds, and bbq sauce instead of gravy.

BBQ done very well not greasy, but full of smoked flavor. Ribs and pulled pork shoulder are must haves along with the bread pudding. Everything here is done well and made the right way.

My experience with One and Only BBQ is one of randomness. I had no time to read reviews or go over Yelp pics as I normally do when wanting to try somewhere new. There is actually story behind it. While visiting family in Memphis we decided on another BBQ eatery. ( I won't mention the name here but I will definitely be writing a review) While being treated badly in unsaid location my sister-in-law decided to get up and walk out. The rest of us, 12 in all, decided to follow suit. While outside we scrambled to find another BBQ place nearby as we were all on the verge of BBQ meltdown :-) :-) :-) ...I pulled out my "handy dandy" YELP app. Pulled up a few places and my other sister-in-law said let's go to One and Only. Great Bbq.. I'm in.. we all caravaned over. Not only did One and Only have amazing BBQ their customer service was on point. From the moment our party walked in the door to the moment we walked out we were treated wonderful as one would be expected to be treated in any food establishment wanting to earn the loyalty of new clientele. When we walked in and said we had a party of 12/13 they didn't bat an eyelash. The place was crowded and they managed to pull tables together for us in a jiffy. I give their staff mucho KUDOS for all their hard work, friendliness, organization with orders, bright smiles & wonderful work ethics with great attitudes!!!! Now onto the food!!!! Appetizer::: cheese and sausage platter good variety and enough to pass around the table to share Ribs::: fall off the bone, mouthwatering wet ribs with yummy sauce! Turkey::: looked delicious and juicy Fried BBQ Bologna::: WOW! !!!! Sausage::: I couldn't stop eating it dousing with the flavorful bbq sauce.. yum!!! BBQ Nachos::: well what can I say... Bbq meat on nachos.. need I say more!!!! Side Dishes::: twice baked potato salad, vegetarian baked beans and others ...all were spectacular! Desserts::: Red Velvet Cake, Strawberry Cheesecake & Banana Pudding. .. I'm hooked!!!! Seriously.... give them a try!!!! Btw::: I'm a foodie photo fanatic... but at the same time when one is famished and ready to chow down they forget to pull out their phone camera to take pics :-( for about the first time ever.... I only took a few pics of my banana puddin' ****sad face***

Gotta visit this place! Brunswick stew, was hearty and full of all the veggies you would expect, the best thing about it was the base wasn't so acidic that it took from the meat. Great! Bologna starter, if you grew up in a household on a tight budget, this will take you back to the grilled pinwheels your mom or dad made trying to convince you it was fancy. Order it, they have a dry rub on it and grilled, served with coleslaw and bread and butter pickles. Deviled eggs, as the other reviews state, order them before you even read the menu. An order of 4 is 2.00. Ribs come wet or dry with sauces served at the table, a mild and spicy. We ordered 1/2 rack wet, they have a good smokey flavor. They are meaty pull away from the bone. Cole slaw it was finely chopped mayo based and on the sweet side. BBQ chicken quesadilla wonderful tex me style, salsa was ehh. Twice baked potato salad The Best Ever, described by my husband and dad. It was great especially if you like sour cream. Banana pudding way too sweet, we split one order and none of us could eat it because of how sweet it was. Baked beans nothing extrodinary but good.

Pulled pork was excellent with the sauce selections on the table. Everything was smokey and wonderful. I didn't care for the twice baked potato salad we ordered and the waitress so kindly swapped it for the mustard without hesitation. Mustard potato salad was excellent! And I'm not taking off any stars for a personal preference especially since swapping was so easy! :) great service great food friendly people. Would visit again.

This Southerner loves bbq and because I was in Tennessee, Memphis to be exact, I felt it only right that I look for me some good que. I'm usually a decisive person where food is concerned but in googling "BBQ" I received so many hits that I became overwhelmed. I then made a decision to check out Memphis' Talk. I'd made a great decision in doing so because this particular thread that I peeked into had people arguing over 3-4 establishments that they felt were the best and the reasons why they felt that way. After reading some of the posts and getting feedback from the thread starter I decided to go with One and Only BBQ. Again, I made a good decision. The staff was nice and patient, as my friend and I did not make up our minds until after 15-20 mnutes of being seated. I had the Beef brisket, deviled eggs, and baked beans... I enjoyed all three items. The beef brisket was tender and when I added the GG Sauce (sweet and spicy hot sauce) and mild bbq sauce it was pretty darn amazing. My only complaint is that I had just as much fat as I did beef. Overall, O & O BBQ was worth the visit.

Loveeee the dry rub ribs and the double cooked potato salad! And the sweet potato fries is perfectttt!!! The first decent meal I had in memphis! Would definitely be back! We tried the sausage and it was good but not special. My bf definitely loved the banana pudding. I thought it was okay since I like the one from magnolia bakery more.

Big menu but small place! This place is so tiny but the BBQ is pretty good! The wait was fast but getting the food was a bit long. Everything was hot and good.

My family and I eat here often and frequently and all the time. Such a great atmosphere and the staff is warm and welcoming. But I'm sure you want to know what the food taste like, huh? It's Mmmmmmmm to infinity. We love the pulled chucken, the bbq quesadillas, the quarter chicken, the chicken tenders, the sausage, etc ok -EVERYTHING IS GOOD!!! GO THERE NOW!

I first had one and only at a party at the Dixon, it was so good and the owner so nice that I knew I needed more. This location is pretty tiny but very clean and the staff friendly. The pulled pork is good and I love how the sauce has some sweetness to it but I love the ribs and brisket - the thinly sliced brisket is different but in a good way. The nachos are also good. For sides I usually double up on the loaded potato salad, yes it is that good! The deviled eggs are also very yummy and don't forget about dessert - worth the calories. Price point is great too, the bf and I can share a two meat platter with ribs for $19.99 and then add on a side or some eggs and split a dessert to wind up stuffed - that puts us at leaving right under $40 when all is said and done. 5 stars for yummy flavor and great value!

This place is amazing! Stopping in Memphis I knew that BBQ was going to be a must for dinner. I am so glad that we found One and Only BBQ! I ordered the Dry Rub Ribs and Brisket with Mustard Potato Salad and BBQ Beans. Everything was delicious! I was so stuffed! I even took some pecan pie and banana pudding for dessert. Going to have to save that for tomorrow though. Stop in, you won't be disappointed!

It's great to be able to have a hearty meal with my BBQ loving friends. While they are chomping down on the meaty fare I'm enjoying my vegan burger w/BBQ sauce and green beans (no butter). Great people and very considerate owner who seems to want to accommodate various eaters.

One and Only struck gold with me! My husband is pleasantly pleased to know that he made my belly happy. He is from Memphis and I am not, he has been on his head to find a Memphis BBQ joint that would save there name of "Home of BBQ". He was as excited as a pig in slop to get me to One and Only and the review is in......"He done good!!" So I wasn't mad at him as he ate, smiled, and gloated/boasted all the way through dinner! Hey who counts the fails (5), when you finally score a success. My experience: It's a cool spot I like the interior and exterior, nothing fancy nor shabby. I suppose it looks like a bbq joint should. The taste, the first visit I had the pork bbq ribs, twice baked potato salad and French fries. My husband had the beef ribs, French fries and bbq baked beans. The ribs were super flavorful, with an awesome smoky taste. That bbq sauce tho......it's honestly what keeps me coming back. I'm a sucker for a good sauce. I also love a well cooked piece of meat. But put the two together, well let's just say my husband was a lucky man that night! The baked beans keeps my daughter coming back and she's not that crazy about baked beans. However she will eat two sides worth of One and Only's. With all of that being said, I give one and only two major thumbs up!

One and Only is still great, but some cracks have begun to emerge in the facade. The twice-baked potato salad is still a sublime work of culinary poetry that has yet to be matched by any other potato dish in the world. A must-get. The prices have gone up though. That $5.95 small plate is now $9.95. What used to be a great deal is now "worth it, but not by much." The Texas Toast with my most recent order was stale. No flavor, no butter, and no good. Some of the other sides are also hit-or-miss, like the beans. BBQ is still solid. I wish they were a bit more generous with the sauce, but it's still pretty solid (if not remarkable).

Good customer service will win me over time and time again. I do not care if food is mediocre or even the wrong order - a good server or a sincere and involved manager can have me eating out of their hand if they know how to treat their customers. I have not had a chance to make it back to One and Only BBQ (and I really don't know when I expect to be in Memphis again in the near future). However, if I am in the area again, based on a personal message from the management, I will definitely give them a second chance. I was so impressed with the sincerity, detail, and humbleness of the message, that I felt compelled to update my previously critical review. Management's heartfelt message was genuinely concerned, apologetic, and eager to prove itself again. No excuses were made, every single issue that I had written about was addressed and detailed as to how it was resolved. There was no passive- aggressive defensiveness; and personal recommendations were made as to what they would like me to try the next time I am able to stop by. If I get the chance to go back to Memphis, I will definitely stop by and chow down again on the drumstick I loved, and the potato salad and green beans that have been urged on to me. I love this kind of attention to detail, respectful tone and eagerness to always learn and improve. It gave me the warm and fuzzies (rather than making me feel disregarded or snake-oiled). I love having the warm and fuzzies. Won over, I will be back one day for more chicken and southern hospitality.

Quite possibly the best BBQ in Memphis. I haven't tried the ribs yet, but the nachos and pulled pork sandwich were both amazing! Highly recommended. There can be a bit of a wait but the food is worth it. Glad I love so close.

I've had a catered dinner and a carry-out so far. Great service and AMAZING food! Fried pickles are great, ribs are the best in Memphis, and the banana pudding is killer (good)! Prices are less than $10 for sandwiches, a bit more for ribs and dinners. Great place!

I don't give 5 stars easily and usually not to a place that provides a roll of paper towels in lieu of napkins, so this place must be exceptional. We sat outside because we had our little dog with us which can lead to slower, less attentive service, but not here. Service and attention from wait staff could not have been better. Free drink refills were timely, and no other details were missed. My husband and I started with an order of the deep fried dill pickle chips. They came out perfectly cooked and piping hot. Order was large enough for 6 people. We shared the 2 meat combo platter with ribs and kielbasa. We ordered the ribs wet and sweet potato fries and twice baked potato salad. Everything was perfection. Ribs were moist, tender and the dry rub in combination with the wet BBQ sauce was in perfect balance. The smoky flavor of the grilled kielbasa was heavenly. The fries were hot and crispy and the potato salad was quite possibly the best I've ever had. I was so in love with the food I hardly missed that they did not serve any alcohol to wash it down. Would definitely go here again and again and again!

Very good food and great service. The girls taking care of the patrons were great and they made sure my two little girls were happy. The ribs were tasty, but if you get the wet ribs be aware that the sauce is pretty sweet. The sliced brisket was very good and quite flavorful. I didn't need any sauce for the brisket. The green beans were ok, but they are green beans... How can you make them great anyway? The BBQ sauces on the table are tasty and the hot BBQ sauce is kind of tame, but still good. The pecan pie was good although 8 year old only liked the filling and my 5 year old hated it, but what does she know... She hates everything but French fries. The place is small, like many BBQ joints but not cramped. I will definitely return here.

Went here for lunch, the staff were attentive and the woman who worked there was very friendly and helpful. The portions are HUGE, I thought the six drummie meal was going to be six drumettes well it ended up being six DRUMSTICKS!! I would recommend and go back. It is kind of tiny inside so might not be ideal for large parties.

I returned here for the second time, during a visit to the Memphis area. I initially tried to go to Germantown Commissary, but there was a line stretched out of the front door there, perhaps because it was all-you-can-eat-rib night. So I drove down Poplar to One and Only on Kirby. I ordered a pulled pork plate, with beans and twice-baked potato salad. The potato salad was really good, probably 4 stars. The beans were average. The main item, the pulled pork, was actually a disappointment. In my opinion, when you order pulled or chopped pork shoulder, each serving should include at least some small amount of bark and meat from the outside of the shoulder. This is where the smoky flavor is strongest. Depending on what marinades or injections etc. are used, the inside meat is somewhat flavorless. Unfortunately, my serving of pork didn't include any bark, char, smoke ring, or anything of the sort. My wife looked at it and commented that it looked boiled. We both agreed that the taste was quite plain. It was basically two-star pork shoulder. So balancing the substandard pork shoulder with the better-than-average potato salad, I arrive at three stars.

Had a pretty darn good bbq quesadilla with potato salad side. Pork bbq, cheese and added some jalapeños. The high point though was the pecan pie with ice cream. Good little quick dinner with a very nice staff. Will be back.

I did the pork shoulder sandwich with deviled eggs (followed by the banana pudding). The pork, slaw, eggs, and pudding were nothing short of amazing. I wish the sandwich roll was a little nicer (I am spoiled by amazing bakery bread from the NYC metro). I will get the pork shoulder outside of the sandwich next visit. Small star deduction for slower service but pretty great experience over all.

Words can't describe how much I love this restaurant. Once I found the dry rub ribs here, I stopped looking elsewhere. Thanks Yelp reviewers! I'm from Texas. I like my meat moist, not dry. And even though I realize dry rub ribs have a dry rub, that does NOT mean the meat itself has to be dry. Texas brisket is a classic example of this. If you think about it, Texans just put a bit of salt, pepper, and not much else on the brisket. We definitely don't use a wet marinade, but at the end of the day, the brisket is moist. I write all this because Corky's down the street has a nice dry rub, but the ribs are dry. You have to work to pull the meat off of the bones. The German Commissary is okay, but not as good as Corky's. The One and Only BBQ hands down beats Corky's. The dry rub is just right. The meat falls off of the bones, which is key for me. I like my meat to be tender. A 1/3 rack dinner is pretty cheap too. It's about $13 and some change pre-tip. You get two sides. I usually get cole slaw and French fries; they both are pretty decent here. The staff is always friendly. They stream Pandora radio on the loudspeaker system, and the station they chose Thursday night had some of us jamming. It was great. I've recommended this place to everyone who's asked for suggestions. It's that homey, go-to place you have to try. Delicious!

Had heard good things and wanted to give this place a shot. Prefacing that I'm a bit of a BBQ aficionado (have two smokers in backyard and am on a competition BBQ team). I ordered the 4 meat sampler (pork ribs, brisket, sausage, and pulled pork with twice baked potato salad, baked beans, and slaw sides. The store is clean and well laid out.. The staff are very friendly. Below are my thoughts on the items. Pork Ribs were excellent. Perfectly cooked. I ordered dry but was given wet. Not a big deal. Meat was moist with a light smoke ring. It's nice to see a place cook ribs properly (slight tug to pull clean from he bone) vs falling off the bone (overcooked). The flavor was great. They were the best I've had in Memphis. 9/10. The brisket was shaved thin, was a LITTLE tough but was moistened up with a nice finishing glaze. Flavor was good. Overall a very good product for a Memphis BBQ joint. 8/10 The pulled pork was unfortunately a bit dry. Flavor was good... Bark was above average and it showed a decent smoke ring. Overall it was a little above average for the city. I'm assuming it was an off night and will give it another shot. 6/10. The smoked sausage was good. Nice rub/char. Nice and moist with very good flavor. A little greasy but not enough to take away from the overall quality of the dish. Again, possibly the best I've had in Memphis. 7.5/10. The sauces (standard and spicy) were both excellent. Thin traditional tomato base that wasn't particularly adventurous but done quite well for a classic style. Id like to see a little more heat to the spicy as they were a little too similar IMO. 7/10 Sides were all done well but were nothing too adventurous. Beans were basic with good flavors. I'd like to see some pulled pork and a little more flavor added to help them stand out. Slaw was basic. Twice baked potato salad. Was also good but not great. A little too heavy on the mayo and short on other elements. The Texas toast was barely toasted but lightly buttered and pretty good. I will definitely be back to give the place another shot. Very good to great restaurant BBQ in this city. Runs with central (a current favorite)... Better in some aspects, a little behind in others. I now prefer this place to other staples like bbq shop, Corky's, and germantown commissary. Well done guys. One small note, in addition to serving wet instead of dry ribs, they left the banana pudding I ordered for my girlfriend out of our to go bag. We called and they apologized profusely and offered us to come by anytime to pick up the order or a refund.

I've eaten at this place several times and it's consistently excellent. Obviously I've tried the pork sandwich plate and the Strawberry Fields salad is delicious, if unexpected for a BBQ joint. Tonight i ordered the smoked turkey sandwich with green beans, and wasn't exactly sure what I had ordered. I'll definitely order that one again, as the meat is perfectly smoked and seasoned and delicious. It comes as several thick slices on a bun. I added a bit of the sauce which made it even better. The turkey wasn't dry at all and was perfectly tender and wonderful. I think I ate that sandwich in record time and wished for more. The green beans were excellent as well, with a slightly smoky flavor. Just on the Germantown border and well worth the trip if you're inside-the-loop kinda folk, or they have an east Memphis location.

Finally! I can write a 5-star review! Didn't think that was possible in the Memphis area. Most people are so rude it ruins any chance. Aubrey is the best server. I have had her multiple times. She never forgets to refill our drinks and is super nice. The BBQ is great! Fair prices and tastes amazing. Awesome salads, yummy sides (twice baked potato salad) and sausage is the best I've ever had. All the other BBQ joints in Memphis can suck it. This place is the best I've had out here- and I'm not partial to any place since I've only lived here a year. All opinions are neutral!

Fantastic! I had a 1/2 rack of ribs (dry), baked beans and mustard potato salad. It was all so good! Great dry rub on the ribs, very meaty and moist. The service was outstanding. I was contemplating between baked beans and green beans and went with baked beans. My waitress brought me a sample cup of the green beans too! At the end I said I would try the banana pudding next time I stopped in. Again, my waitress brought me a sample cup of the banana pudding. Great! They were fantastic at One and Only BBQ and I will definitely be back next time I'm in the Memphis area. Well done!

It was because of Kyle W's constant raving about this place that I finally had to go. I'm not a huge fan of Central BBQ, it isn't bad but it doesn't have me craving more. One and Only is a small place. The entire menu is on a giant chalkboard wall. There is plenty of space between the tables to move around (unlike CB which can get very cramped). The prices are reasonable and they have family meals that end up being much less than everyone ordering separately. The BBQ is fall off the bone good. If I had a bigger stomach I could sit and eat here all day. I can't wait to go back and try more from their menu.

BBQ nachos are the best! I also really like their beans. The service is friendly and they're always willing to refill your drink to go. The only thing I haven't enjoyed was the smoked chicken. It tasted too smoky - it needed more balanced flavor.

This place continues to impress me. I know they have become more talked about since I took that first delicious bite of pulled pork last year, but they are still friendly and still have the best banana pudding around. They are a bit pricier than other BBQ spots in Memphis but still reasonable considering their ingredients taste fresh and homemade. My "go to" is the pulled pork sandwich, slaw and sauce on.

Let me just say. I try not to believe the hype (good or bad) and go into any restaurant with a clean slate. Tonight we were craving barbecue and decided to try "One and Only" mainly due to the location and the fact that we had heard it was very good. We walked in and IMMEDIATELY were overwhelmed by the sweet smell that only smoked meat can create. The front door was propped open because the smoke was THICK! Which was perfect for me because I LOVE the aromas of barbecue and grills. We ordered two sausage and cheese plates for a party of 8 which was just enough. The sausage pieces were HUGE and smoked just right. The cheese was your standard cubes of cheddar and pepper jack cheese with the dry rub sprinkled on top. Surprisingly no crackers which I actually didn't mind. I saw the giant sign outside advertising their "Memphis Style Beef Ribs". So naturally, being the carnivore that I am, I decided to partake. I am so glad I did. I ordered the half rack not realizing that how much larger beef ribs were than pork ribs. There were 6-7 ribs that took up an entire platter by themselves. They were seasoned with a base of what tasted like salt and pepper with other spices and then rubbed with their dry rub spice afterwards. There was a TON of flavor. I am a big eater and I struggled to eat 4 ribs. So in hindsight, the 1/3 rack of beef ribs would have been plenty. Their twice baked potato salad was to die for. I couldn't get to the beans I ordered because I was too stuffed but my wife said they were great. The only downside is the lack of seating. We really enjoyed it and we will definitely be back! Bravo, One and Only!

This location is a little better than the other, but both treat me well. I love to start with the dry rub on the wings and a deviled egg. Their ribs are full of flavour. Their take on brisket is unique. Having lived in Texas for as long as I have, I am used to the thick cut pieces. One and Only goes for the thinly shaven approach. It has an almost sweet taste that is hard to capture with words. The loaded potato salad is perfect. Make sure this is your side item. To add to the amazing food, the waitstaff is very good at their jobs. They are quick to offer a refill and they make you feel like you are home. Two Thumbs up

A cute little place squeezed between a UPS store and a smoothie shop. There was a line almost out the door to order (which is always a good sign). We ended up sitting outside on their 'patio' which was more like the sidewalk. Still very nice and relaxing for a Monday night. The food was excellent! The fried pickles were addicting. I had the pulled pork sandwich with a side of potato salad. Highly recommend!! I had the banana pudding and it was to die for.

Forewarning- this review may be disturbing to some, so if you get offended or grossed out easily, I would recommend not reading any further! I had a bad day today, and writing crap like this cheers me up, so bare with me. A great man I have recently met that goes by the name of Kyle W had told me about this place and that I would enjoy it thoroughly. So, after a long drive from NOLA back to MEM, I had to pick up my roommate *coughs* and decided to get some BBQ for dinner. Rendezvous was closed, so we decided on here. I drove that night (I think it was 2 Sundays ago), and I remember starting to feel weird on the way there. Real weird. And when I pulled up and saw all of the cops, I felt more weird. All of the seats were filled, except for the ones next to the cops (some days, I get real uneasy around cops, that was one of those days). So yep, we got to sit next to 4 SC Sheriffs. Hell yea! Our server was on the younger side, but she was real nice. When I say younger, as in teenager younger. Now, Kyle told me to get the brisket, and I am almost 103% positive Joelle P raved about the bbq nachos (from another location)- so I ordered the brisket/ribs combo with fries, my roomie got the nachos. That is when shit started to get real weird. It almost felt like I was having LSD flashbacks (which could have very well have been!). Thankfully the food came out quickly. So I tried to eat the easy stuff first. Now I tell you what, that brisket- from what I can remembers- was exciting. Why? It actually reminded me of Korean BBQ Brisket, minus the marinade, plus BBQ sauce. I scarfed that down. Then I tried to eat the bread, the beans and some fries (which the basket was huge). Then when it came to the ribs, I could literally only eat one. I tried to eat some of the roomies nachos, and they were indeed tasty, but I could only eat 2-3 chips. I had to excuse myself to go to the restroom, and that's when I got up, I started to stumble- in front of the cops. That was AWESOME, considering I just drove there! I had to throw in the towel, and box the rest of my food up. It sucked because what I had tasted decent. Even the desserts looked good enough to try. So, believe it or not, more cops showed up, so I told my roomie that I didn't even GAF, he was driving us home! So we went home, and literally 5 minutes later, I just kept throwing up and throwing up. But this is the kicker- even though I kept throwing up, I could taste the BBQ sauce, and it tasted just as good coming back out! That almost made me feel better, and wanted to eat more. I think unfortunately, I got food poisoning from either earlier in the day or from the evening before. So with that being said, I couldn't really give this place a fair chance yet, but I would love to go back and see what they are really about! I still think 2 weeks later, I can still taste that sauce ;)

I have two complaints about this place 1) I enjoy the pork shoulder so much I never get around to trying anything else. 2) I can never seem to save enough room for dessert.

I love this place. The BBQ is so good. My favorite is the pull BBQ chicken sandwich with a side of potato salad. You can't bypass the devil eggs. To top it off they have great customer service. The only downfall is that the space is small & there is limited seating.

I was here and ordered the nachos with pork. The meat was cold and the cheese was cold. They used generic chips which just made it worse. The other person I was with had a cold meal too. Their food is usually okay. It's not my first time going but I don't think it accurately represents BBQ standards in Memphis. My advice if you're a Memphis tourist looking for some good BBQ, forget Corky's and forget One & Only. Go straight to Central BBQ.

We had the ribs for lunch and they were delicious. It's a little pricey. Two half racks of ribs with sides came to ~$50 after tip (and we only had water with our meal). However, the service was friendly and attentive.

Had the BBQ sandwich and the BBQ chicken and it was perfectly moist with a really savory sauce. My favorite was the twice baked potato salad. Wow that stuff was good! Highly recommend for a good taste of BBQ.

This place is so convenient to my office that I had to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. On my first visit I was absolutely wowed by the extremely friendly service! That was also the case during every visit since. I guarantee you won't find better service anywhere in town. The parking is a little tight, but hey, park in the bigger lot and walk a few feet. Now, for the food: I've tried the pulled pork sandwich, the ribs, the baked potato salad, the beans, the sweet potato fries, the deviled eggs and the carrot cake. I wasn't disappointed with any of it. The meat is cooked in an electric smoker, and although it's not the best in town, it's very good. The sides definitely make up for the lack of smoke rings in the meat. They are unique and perfectly prepared. The baked potato salad is a must try. The burger is fantastic as well! I ordered mine with blue cheese, and they weren't stingy with it. The carrot cake delicious and moist, and the slice is plenty big enough for two people. There is also a strawberry fields salad on the menu. Now allow me to elaborate, I don't eat salad. Lettuce is for rabbits. Protein is for girls. This salad is the exception. Put pulled pork, blue cheese, walnuts, and strawberries on cardboard, and I'll eat it! I can handle the lettuce if I get all that good stuff on it. It is next on my list. Just thinking about it is making my mouth water. I know what I'm having for lunch tomorrow... This is a spot I'll be hitting on a regular basis to get my grub on.

First, let me say I've never had bad BBQ anywhere in Memphis. I had the chopped BBQ pork shoulder sandwich with cole slaw here, and it was pretty good. I heard the brisket is very good here, so I'll have to go back and try it. I will say that the potato salad (twice baked AND mustard) was the best I've ever had.

This place is the best. The staff are super friendly and helpful, true southern hospitality. When you think of Memphis bbq, you won't be disappointed with One and Only. The best bbq money can buy.

This was my first visit and it was carry out ... I will give it a second chance since most reviews are positive. The service was excellent, food was disgusting. I ordered 3 dinners for carry out and the price was 49.15......I thought it was a little pricey.

And back to One and Only we went because my boyfriend's food is always amazing. I got the brisket again and this time, like the first time, it was awesome. So I'll chalk my 2nd experience up to a bad day in the kitchen or the guy gave me the wrong food, but One and Only is delicious and deserves all the stars it gets. You really should check it out, and though ribs aren't my favorite thing, I can attest the ones here are phenomenal! Most importantly, as always, are waitress was great and super sweet!

Yummy yummy in my tummy. One & Only redeemed Memphis' reputation as a BBQ town. After so many bright stars fizzled out and in a sea of BBQ mediocrity, One & Only rises above. Unassuming yet warm and welcoming atmosphere, it will scare those off who are prone to judge books (and restaurants) by their covers. But look past the strip mall exterior and the 10 tables inside and smell the aroma of freshly prepared meats and vegetables, see the smiles of the friendly & helpful staff, see the reasonably-priced and diverse yet not-too-overwhelming menu. Best BBQ on this trip and including the time I spent as a Memphis resident. We asked around at the hotel and looked up reviews and the parking lot confirmed it...this is where the locals dine. There was a steady stream of take-out business, confirming this.

if you are thinking about having BBQ while in Memphis, you would kick yourself later if you didn't go to One & Only! Great dry rub ribs, twice baked potato salad, and smoky tender brisket... Amazing. And talk about hospitality! The friendly server sent me on my way with a fresh to go cup of sweet tea. Check this place out. You'll be glad you did!

This little BBQ joint is one of the most excellent unknown business. The meat juicy and the sauce was excellent. I recommend the spicy sauce. The flavor is awsome. I will be back many many times

I was highly recommended to go here while I on my trip to the Memphis area. Everyone raved about how amazing the food was and that I had to get the dry rubbed ribs. My colleague and I went there one night after work and as it was a little later in the evening the place was empty. Because of this we had the amazing Aubrey all to ourselves and the Service was beyond stellar. I ordered a half slab of ribs (dry rubbed) and as one of my sides the twice baked potato salad. Let me start with the potato salad. Holy crapoli it was good! By far the best potato salad I have ever had hands down. I wish I would have ordered two sides of it instead of the green beans (which were okay) that I got. Now on to the ribs themselves. I hate to say this, but I feel a little let down by all of the people who raved about the place. They had a decent smoke flavor and were tender, but man oh man were they caked in salt. That was all I could taste. Luckily there was some BBQ sauce on the table I was able to drown them in. Boo to the bad ribs, hooray for the excellent service and potato salad. Oh, and the fact that the cooks let me crump with them in the kitchen. I have a video and it is every bit as amazing as you can imagine. I move good for a white boy!

I love this place! They have a huge menu and amazing bbq. Very friendly and welcoming staff that take good care of every customer no matter how busy they are. It's not a huge place so it can get crowded easily but everything is available to go. The prices are also great for the large amount of food you get. I'm becoming a regular!

My first taste of One & Only BBQ (Kirby) occurred several years ago when I was supposed to meet a colleague at the restaurant next door. Arriving early, I was overcome by the smell of smoked BBQ and simply followed my nose. Waiting in line to order, I overheard a fellow in front of me, who was extolling the great flavor of the brisket to his friend. I don't normally like texas-style brisket (thick cut), but he said that their brisket was thinly shaved and well seasoned - so I tried the brisket and the twice-baked potato salad. Well, that's when my love affair for their brisket and ribs began. The items I love: brisket, mustard potato salad and dry-rub ribs The twice-baked potato salad is good, but a little too rich for me. The first few bites are like "wow!", but then it is a little too rich (for me) to finish. But, you should try it at least once or see if they'll give you a little just to try. Under the new owners, I really like how they've made the restaurant more inviting by de cluttering the front area and the staff is always friendly. If you every tried O&O under the old owners a few years ago and liked the food, but not the attitude, give it another try-much better! My wife and I also tried the Perkins extended location after a UofM football game. The staff was extremely friendly and the ribs were great. The brisket there was a little different (seasoning was a little off and more fat in the meat). The ambiance at the Perkins location is a little better than the Kirby location, helped by the larger space. In general, the Kirby location is still my favorite and the food there is consistent across many visits.

The inside of this strip-center bbq joint smells exactly the way it should. If you ever walk in to a place selling bbq that doesn't smell like pork and smoke, just go ahead and walk out because you're in the wrong place. One and Only BBQ has an impressive array of choices written on a huge chalkboard. I stood there looking stupid for 3 or 4 minutes just trying to take it all in. The young man behind the counter asked me if I need help. I started asking questions about the wings and sides. This guy was ridiculously sweet. I mean, he was like pecan pie a 'la mode sweet! He smiled, laughed, offered suggestions, and he didn't seem the least bit annoyed by my indecisiveness. I had pretty much decided on what to order until I noticed another chalkboard listing the specials of the day. One of the specials was a 1/3 rack of ribs with one side. I asked if I could have deviled eggs as my side and the sweetheart said, "of course you can!" Being from Texas I was curious to try the brisket. Not that many places in Memphis serve barbequed beef. Brisket is even harder to find and man I sure do miss Texas brisket. I added a brisket sandwich to my order thinking that I could taste it and and save the rest for the next day. I requested slaw and sauce on the side. My order was up in about 10 minutes or so. I was surprised to see 5 deviled eggs next to my ribs. I was expecting maybe 2 or 3. I ate one right away and I thought it was pretty good. Next, I went after the ribs. They were moist, tender, and smoky. I would have preferred a stronger smoke flavor, but that's just me. The brisket was a total disappointment. The meat was sliced very, very thin. It reminded me of meat you find in a Philly cheese steak sandwich. It was also very salty... way too salty for my taste. Had I enjoyed the flavor I would have been satisfied with the portion. There was plenty of meat on the sandwich. Sadly, most of it went uneaten.

Pulled chicken was juicy & tender. As were the 1/2 rack of pork ribs. The sauce was mild with just enough tang to not overpower the meat. Fabulous! They had a spicier sauce, but I did prefer the mild. I love hot & spicy, but didn't want to overpower that wonderful smoky flavor. BBQ baked beans, twice baked potato salad, and a deviled egg for sides were very good. The place is small, but quaint. They also have outdoor seating. The smells wafting out of the kitchen caused me to order way too much food. But I had to try a couple as I couldn't make up my mind. My beau didn't mind, though, as he gladly finished off the leftovers I brought home. Will definitely be back!

From KY but in Memphis quite a bit for business. Tried at least half a dozen BBQ places in town. One and only is hands down the best. Small and unassuming. Simply great food and service. I suggest the 2 meat platter. Ribs and pork!!!!!!! And Millie does know how to make banana pudding!

I am a big BBQ critic and usually very picky about my choice of Memphis BBQ places, but I have to admit I have another favorite spot! My husband and I had dinner here while visiting my hometown Memphis and it was absolutely delicious!!!!! The service is superb, our waitress was very friendly gave good recommendations and went the extra mile to make sure we were satisfied. My husband had the pulled pork dinner and I had chopped BBQ chicken dinner, the sides were awesome, seasoned perfect, hot and fresh. We chose cole slaw, baked beans and we also tried the homemade chocolate cake.........sssooooooooo gooooood!!! All this and spent less than $30 including tip! Great spot for lunch or dinner, we have a new spot to eat at when we visit Memphis now!

The reviews are correct. This place is excellent. Small, cozy, not fancy and great food. We had the brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, twice cooked potato salad, slaw and beans. All are highly recommended.

I've never been to a BBQ spot and seriously contemplated getting a salad before. Especially at a BBQ spot that I would sacrifice my firstborn to eat at one last time. But that all changed Friday night. One and Only BBQ has a salad called the Strawberry Fields Forever salad that will change your opinion about eating salads as a meal. The base of mixed greens is covered with blue cheese, spicy walnuts, strawberries and your choice of meat (which is additional) and then drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The brisket is still the star of the show. So much so in fact. that my girlfriend counted her pieces before she went to the bathroom to ensure I wouldn't eat them. The jokes on her, though. I cut each piece in half and ate the extras! If you are in the area, make sue you try this place, and, more importantly, try the salad.

I love BBQ and I actively search out new restaurants to try. This place has intrigued me since I first saw it three years ago. I finally tried it tonight. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I had a smoked sausage sandwich and it was tasty, just not fantastic. My wife had the pulled turkey sandwich. Again it was tasty, but nothing super special. The side items were okay. It was nice seeing that they offered fruit as well as the standard beans, coleslaw and what not. The service and staff were great. Everyone was very friendly and kind. Talking with the workers was probably the best part of the dining experience. I'll probably eat there again, but only if I'm in that part of town, I'm not going to actively seek it out.

Very tender ribs with great flavor. The seating was full but the staff brought a table from outside inside to accommodate us. Great service and food! Highly recommend!

We have had One and Only twice now, and a review is overdue. Of all the BBQ we've had in Memphis, this has been the best. Smoky, moist, tender, and not overly fatty. The chopped pork and the ribs have both been excellent, and I loved the twice baked potato salad. It was so rich that I couldn't eat it all, though. Their spicy sauce is also delicious! The best sauce we've had since we've been here. Can't recommend this BBQ enough! I have to say, I did order a banana pudding, and it was inedible. The bananas were gray, like they were older, which would have been fine... but they were also super hard. I don't know how that adds up, but it was NOT good.

I've been hearing mixed reviews on this place, so I thought it was time to check it out. It's a decent BBQ place, that's for sure, but it lacks some things that I look for when I rate Barbecue. I tried the "Big 3" of the Barbecue world---- Pulled Pork, Pork Ribs, and Brisket. Baked Potato Salad and Baked Beans rounded out my excessive meal. I find it curious when I get a pile of Barbecue with no Smoke Ring. That's what happened at One & Only. It doesn't mean the food isn't good, but it's a sign of barbecue cooked in a commercial electric cooker instead of over wood. Of my three selections, the Ribs were the best thing on my plate. Spare Ribs with a good spice rub on them. The flavor was good, and the texture was very good. I tasted the sauces provided, but didn't use them. The Brisket was very different from what I'm accustomed to getting, and lacked the smoke flavor that is needed to complement the hearty cut of beef. It wasn't really that tender either. OK, but not anything special. The Pulled Pork had been prepared well, but had almost a mushy consistency, as well as that lack of smoke ring. Average offerings of pulled pork are not gonna cut it in Memphis. I enjoyed the Baked Potato Salad. It tastes like it sounds. It's very good. The beans were average, and a little on the sweet side for me. The Deviled Eggs are a nice touch here. I like any BBQ place that sells them. I will come back here sometime soon to give them another chance. It's worth a visit, but it's not in the top group of Pork places in town.

So, it was the Fourth of July and our best friends invited us over to celebrate. Every year we pick up the BBQ and it always comes from Germantown Commissary. This year, I waited too late to go there and the line was out the door and down the street. I didn't want to wait and I had read some of the reviews here about One and Only as well as a review in the Commercial Appeal so I thought I would give them a try. First off, I have to say, what have I been waiting for? This place is literally minutes from my front door and i have driven all over town for BBQ and passed them by. Why? My only excuse is Memphis BBQ snobbery. This place cooks some damn good ribs. They have it all. Smoky, flavor, meat falling off the bone. Both the wet and the dry were good but I have to say I preferred the wet, even though I normally am a dry rib fan. The pulled pork was excellent as well. I only got slaw and beans as my sides so I'll have to get the potato salad another day. The place is small. Too small to eat in so just plan to take out. Everyone there was friendly and happy to serve, even on a busy holiday. If you love Memphis style BBQ and ribs, don't miss One and Only BBQ. It is now our new go-to place for ribs. Go there today!

This place has been around for a few years, and its always been pretty good. Inside its pretty cramped but it works. The smoked turkey plate and the bbq quesadilla are awesome. The twice baked potato salad is awesome too, even though I heard that they buy it ready made. One word of caution, based on my last visit about a week ago, I would probably give it only 2 stars. The food was still good, but the service and the cleanliness were pretty bad. After I paid $2.50 or whatever for a Diet Coke, they informed me that their fountain machine wasn't working, and then offered me a Diet Dr. Pepper out of a 2 liter plastic bottle as a replacement. Hopefully they were just having an off day, this is the only time that its been like that. They have expanded their menu a lot recently and I wonder if this is slowing them down. Either way, this is still one of my go to BBQ places in town. Check it out.

Let me preface this by saying I am not a huge bbq fan, probably because I don't eat pork. This spot rocks!!! Great food & music top off by excellent customer service. We tried a couple of other places that were supposed to be Memphis BBQ standouts, but by far One & Only BBQ was the one & only that we liked. Great taste & smoke flavor.

the ribs wer not all that good & the were not smoking hit. The green beans were the bomb & the twice baked potato salad was not all that & the cheesecake was horrible.

First off I have to say that this is my foodie friends FAVORITE BBQ place, he should seriously have a frequent visitor punch pass or comp meals for all the free advertising he gives them. I would rate this as a very tasty place, I love the atmosphere, the price is right and this is usually my go to for out of towners. The staff is great, always personable, and almost always gives my son a free kool-aid, which makes his day. It is very small, when my family gets together we take over the whole restaurant, so that could be a downfall, it is also really difficult to get in and out of the parking lot during rush hour. The Downfall is it is always chilly in there, which I imagine is great for the cooks but it makes my food cold within moments every single time. So the food is tasty, but the food is cold. This is the type of place that I prefer to take-out. Moving out of the Kirby area we were going to miss One and Only, but with the new store opening right by the side of town I am frequently on, One and Only is never too far away.

One and Only BBQ offers suberb Memphis barbeuce and fixings with wonderful, friendly service. The pulled pork is consistently excellent and I love the cole slaw, the flavorful sauce, and the twice baked potato salad (a local favorite). The homemade deviled eggs and banana pudding are to die for, and the brunswick stew - when available - is a special treat. If Prince is running the cash register, you'll see the biggest smile in town and get a large dose of (transplanted) Southern hospitality. One and Only lives up to its name!

In town from NC, and this was better than my favorite joints there. Ribs are meaty and perfectly seasoned. The fried chicken drummies were outstanding and tender. Quick service around 12:30 on a weekday. Can't wait for my next work trip to Memphis.

My family and I stopped in here while we stayed overnight in Memphis. It was delicious and the waitress was super friendly and very prompt. The only complaint was my husband wished he would have gotten a half rack of ribs instead of the 1/3 rack. Will definitely stop here again if we're ever in the area!

The best BBQ chicken! Great sides, very different than the typical BBQ restaurants in Memphis. Try the twice baked potato salad and fruit with the BBQ chicken: terrific. I cannot wait to visit agin to try their other offerings.

I'm not from Memphis but love the BBQ when I visit. I ate at One and Only BBQ on Kirby Pkwy. three nights in a row. The only reason it wasn't more is because I was only in Memphis 4 nights on business. I got a half rack of wet ribs each night and banana pudding that had to be from scratch. Every person that waited on me was friendly and accommodating. The prices were reasonable. The only reason that I didn't give them a higher score is because 5 stars are all that's available. I gave another restaurant 1 star, which was also well deserved.

I've spent the last few months working in Memphis and sampling the local fare. One and Only is my boss' go-to BBQ joint, so we eat here fairly regularly. One and Only is a great little local BBQ place. The menu has the full range of shoulder, ribs, sausage, brisket, turkey, and chicken along with most of the regular BBQ sides. I recommend the pork shoulder with a side of deviled eggs finished off with a banana pudding! The shoulder is tender, moist, and smoky. The eggs are creamy and delish with the perfect splash of paprika. Banana pudding is everywhere in Memphis and this pudding is one of the best I've had. The pudding is cooked in a pan and topped with . . . meringue, a pleasant surprise. The serving dish is filled with fresh, crispy vanilla wafers before loading on the pudding, which provides the perfect contrast of crunch to the sweet and creamy banana goodness. To be fair, One and Only is not perfect. I am not a fan of the brisket. It is a little dry and sliced too thinly. Once sliced, it must be broiled or something, because the edges are crisped (and not in a good way). The result is a odd brisket with a tough texture. The sign says "sweet slaw" and that it is. The slaw is pretty bland, with sweet being the only taste that comes through. The twice baked potato salad has a boatload of sour cream in it. All in all, if you're in East Memphis and want some tasty, affordable BBQ, head to One and Only!

I have never had a bad meal here. Ribs with dry rub are very good. Beef brisket is different but I like it. Can't go wrong with their twice-baked potato salad and mustard potato salad is not bad either. I also like their sweet potato fries and deviled eggs. Service is always wonderful with cordial personnel. The shop is very clean and you can tell they take pride in it.

I dragged my husband to Memphis for a weekend, just to get away. We wanted to stay close to our hotel, so we relied on Yelp to find us some good eats for a good price, not too far away. We decided on One and Only BBQ.. BEST. DECISION. EVER! The food is heavenly! We both had ribs (wet, because neither of us likes dry, sorry Memphis!). He had the loaded baked potato salad and slaw, and I had green beans and baked beans. Oh. Goodness! The meat was juicy and tender, the twice baked potato salad was creamy and rich, and everything was just perfect. On top of that, we received fantastic service, and had a lovely chat with the proprietor. We strongly considered going back for dinner the next evening, it was that good! We'll be sure to stop back next time we're in the area.

The biggest disappointment with the One and Only BBQ is that there's MORE THAN ONE! It blew me away when I saw the other location on Perkins. But the irony of the name is the only real flaw. Great BEEF ribs (I don't eat pork), great coleslaw & sweet potato fries. Friendly staff & reasonable prices. Two things to know before you go: 1) they don't serve alcohol, & 2) the place is SMALL. Eat outside or get takeout if you're claustrophobic!

I wavered between 3 or 4 stars for a couple of days before writing this review. As you can see 4 stars won out. The restaurant is small, 8, 4 tops with 3 of them being in a hallway I wouldn't want to dine in. Service was very friendly and efficient. If you dine in it is waiter service. To go orders kept streaming in. The store was very clean. At the restaurant I ordered a small sandwich combo with " twice baked potato salad " and a deviled egg. (A deviled egg is always a nice little treat to find.) The sandwich meat was pulled and had a nice smoke flavor. The sandwich was good but served with the meat a bit on the cold side. Warm it up a bit and it would be very good. Not much sauce on the sandwich but sauce is provided at the table to make yours as saucy as you like. The hot sauce was tasty and had a slight bite. I tasted the mild and can report the sauces are good. "Twice baked potato salad" a unique version of this staple and I really liked it. Mayo and sour cream based (I think) and bacon chips, chives etc. A good salad. Smokey taste from the bacon bits, and a different texture from the sliced rather than the usual chopped potato's. To go I had a half slab ribs with slaw and beans as sides. The ribs had great smoke flavor and great texture. Almost fall of the bone but not quite. Just the way I like them. Slaw was mayo based, very fresh and crisp but lacking in something to make it stand out. A bit on the bland side. Beans were from canned, as most are, but doctored enough to make them pretty tasty. One and Only is definitely worth a try.

This place is pretty good. I always like for the true smoke flavor to come through in my sholulder meat and they do a pretty good job of it. I go mainly to get their deviled eggs. They are hard to come by at a restaurant. AND THEY HAVE THE BEST SMOKED SAUSAGE EVER.

I tried this last year. I had the non-sandwich pork sandwich platter. Slaw was good. Meat was cooked nicely and was moist and tender. Sauce was good. Not much atmosphere and very limited seating. Talked to the owner and he was very pleasant.

I just order the brisket dinner to go after a few co-workers recomendation. The service was very friendly. However the brisket is much tougher and chewy than other BBQ places like Rendezvous, Corkys, Whole Hog (now closed) and Jacks in Nashville. The plastic ware could not cut the meat. I am use to smoke beef brisket to be very tender. I decided to call the resturant and talk with the owner. He said their brisket is only smoked 1.5 hours unlike the ribs which are smoke over 12 hours. He said the brisket is like roast beef in texture and could be it was not cut corectlly against the grain. Maybe I'm just not use to this style of brisket. The other bbq places smoke them much longer and pulls apart with a fork. He generously offer another dinner for me the next time I come. This is super customer service and I will go definitely go back and try the ribs and BBQ pork.

I would consider One and Only BBQ a hidden gem in the Memphis scene. I wouldn't have known about this place until my girlfriend told me about it ( I moved here from out of state and I've been wanting to try out every BBQ joints in Memphis). First impressions will give you a bit of claustrophobic feeling because this hole in a wall place looks like it can only fit about 20-25 people in it but that's not usually a bad thing. Some places doesn't even offer seatings (Voodoo Donuts in Portland doesn't but they're booming). So if you're okay with small spaces then it shouldn't be a problem. The menu offers a huge selection of different types of BBQ. From pulled pork to ribs and you have the choice of wet or dry. You also definitely have to try the fried pickles and deviled eggs that are both perfectly seasoned. They pretty generous on their portions and that's probably why they're on a bit of the pricey side. That reason alone gave this review a 4 star instead of 5. The price of a half rack can be overwhelming to your wallet if you come here more than once a week. Other than that, the food is great, friendly staff, and oh yes it's a great location too since I live only five minutes away from it.

This place does ribs as good as anyone else around...and I'm from Memphis...I know ribs. And, their twice baked potato salad is amazing. The owner is always there when I'm there and he works to make sure people are satisfied. Fantastic staff!

Ordered take out. Dry ribs were the best. 5 stars for them. Nicely spiced and meaty. Nothing left on the bone. Cole slaw and green beans were sides and very fresh. Pulled pork was very good and moist. Good value for $. Will return and want to enjoy meal in small restaurant setting next time. Nothing better than inhaling the smell of BBQ while partaking.

First. Time trying this and just loved the dry ribs. If all bbq was this good.... I'd have been a bbq fan sooner. Nice service and great food. Took it to go, but found the ambience to be too cute. Sort of small but I liked it. Ribs 5 star pulled pork 3

On our recent vacation, we made a stop in Memphis. I felt the need to have BBQ since I was here. At the suggestion of Yelp!, we tried this place out. It's kind of small, but nice, in a great location. Our server was very nice and very helpful. My husband and I split the four meat plate, which could have easily been split between 4 people. We tried the ribs (of course), pulled pork, sausage, and brisket. The ribs were delicious, as well as the pulled pork and sausage. The brisket I was not a fan of. It was good, don't get me wrong, but I just didn't get wowed by it like I did the other meats. The star of the evening was the potato salad. I don't think I've ever had white potato salad that good before. I don't know what magic they put in it, but I loved it!!! Now the only downside I could say we had were the deserts. They weren't bad, but they weren't good either, and they aren't that inexpensive, so it was a waste of money for us. I'd go again for the BBQ and sides though.

Top notch bbq. My #1 Favorite in town.

First, let me preface my comments by saying that the food is outstanding. The dry rub is phenomenally seasoned and the rib meat is perfectly tender. The Loaded Baked Potato Salad is a must-have as a side. In a city of great bbq, this place deserves a place at the top of the list for its cuisine. In fact, the rating would be a 5 star if it was based on the food alone. Now, the problem. Apparently the owner of this establishment needs a lesson in not only Small Business 101 but Ethics as well. We came in with coupons that were distributed locally in the HOLIDAY coupon mailer. However, when we brought our coupon in we were told that it would not be honored because yes, you guessed it, it was a Holiday (New Year's Eve to be specific). The coupon didn't say anywhere that it was void on Holidays. The coupon would've essentially knocked off $7 off our $60 order, so it was a reasonably sized coupon. When questioned about it, the man at the counter who I was later told was the owner basically took a we'll do whatever the hell we want attitude towards us. Sorry to tell these people, but that's bait-and-switch, and it's the wrong way to do business (not to mention lame and a great way to sink yourself). I've always believed that if a business provides a high-quality product AND treats people the right way, the customers will keep coming back AND sing their praises. Perhaps the management of One and Only BBQ need to take a small business class, where they'll no doubt be taught that it's cheaper to keep a customer than it is to attract new ones. Unless, of course, you're using one of their coupons.

I really wanted this place to be great; it was okay. I liked the sauce and the ribs. The baked beans and the baked potato salad go well with the ribs. Disappointed in the deviled eggs and the banana pudding. The bananas in the pudding were hard like the were not ripe. What was really odd is that they were bruised in the center like they were ripe but the texture was all wrong. It would have been perfect without the bananas. I also ordered the "drummies" and I was surprised that they were whole chicken legs! Maybe I'll try the salad with strawberries next time. I will go back for the ribs and to try other menu items. I'll update my review then.

The BBQ sandwiches are pretty good, but I'd suggest that cut the meat into smaller portions in order to expose it more to seasonings.

What a pleasant surprise. I happened upon this place by chance and ended up leaving with a huge smile on my face. Great value (no portion skimping here) and the food is outstanding. I had the smoked quarter chicken...amazing. The seasoning was perfect. If I weren't a cheap bastard, I would have eaten a second plate just for the taste (not because they didn't give me enough). I will be back to try some of the other items - the menu is full of variety.

OMG! What a find! After 14 hours driving from Michigan with 6 kids in tow, this place had something for everyone (even a hot dog). We tried it all; brisket, pulled pork (very tender and juicy), dry and wet ribs (liked the wet best), smoked turkey, pulled chicken, fried pickles, deviled eggs, twice baked potato salad (yummy), green beans (yummy), sweet potato fries and the finale, the best slice of warm, fudgy chocolate cake I think I've ever had. To top it off, they had candles for a birthday for us. Everything was delicious and the service was exceptional. Loved it!

For a small diner this is some of the best BBQ I have had. I ordered my ribs wet and would highly suggest them. Chicken was also very good and so tender. Yum.

Stopped by here after randomly choosing it from my GPS after entering the letters "BBQ" on our way into Memphis. What a lucky break! The service was fast and super friendly, the place was packed (always a good sign for a hole-in-the-wall place) and it was pretty clean, bathroom included. All of this was overshadowed by the sheer awesomeness of the food. Crap, it was good. I had the BBQ Nachos (exactly what it sounds like) made with pulled pork, one friend had a sandwich, and the other had a half slab with beans and loaded potato salad. Tasted everything and was not disappointed by any of it. Yum. I will def come back next time I'm in Memphis. GO! NOW!

Just had a two meat dinner here- ribs and barbeque turkey, on the suggestion of the server. Both were excellent and huge portions. Since I am low carb the server even made me a side salad instead of a carby side. The owner even came by the table to ask how the meal was. Highly recommend One and Only.

I am staffed in Memphis for a few weeks. Since I set foot in this state, I have been on a mission to find the best bbq. Rather than head straight to Rendezvous, Corky's, Cozy, etc, I decided to try the hole in the wall spots first. I am glad to report that One and Only is the best of these thus far. I began with the Germantown Commissary. GC was good, but not great; the ribs were just above a "good" rating and the pulled pork was a bit below average. I would give it 3 stars. I am originally from KC, and as the previous reviewer from KC mentioned, few people can top Oklahoma Joe's pulled pork (it is on Anthony Bourdain's 10 places you must eat before you die). That said, the ribs at One and Only were fantastic. Order them "Dry," and you will not be disappointed by the healthy amount of delicious seasoning that covers your slab. The sauces were good enough to apply (sparingly of course) to such a worthy product. The ribs were so good that I ordered a slab to go - as I wanted to tell the locals I was working with about this hidden gem. The pulled pork was pretty good, but I will be ordering additional ribs and skipping the other meats next time I return. The slaw and beans were 4-star as well (5 star beans being Jack Stack in KC). The owner, Charles, was very nice; you have to appreciate any place where the owner takes your order, delivers your food, and checks in to see how you like the food. I look forward to giving a few more bbq joints a try while I am here, and I hope there are some more beauties like this one!

Don't be put off by the forgettable suburban appearance, in a town with several excellent BBQ options, One and Only is still a 5 star choice. The appearance won't impress anyone but the BBQ is excellent, Memphis-style of course. Give it a try.

This place is good, for sure. So, I would certainly recommend a visit, and you could be a 5 star person just like many of the other reviewers here. Just a couple of things on my personal barbeque pallette were not hit well here. The slaw mayo level was too high, and the dry rub ribs had way too much seasoning on them (for my taste) that made me continually taste 'one & only bbq' very late into the day. All that said, that evening I did not feel well at all... and through a process of elimination and backtracking, it was related to my lunch here. Now listen, I'm not known by any means for a 'stomach of steel', but I generally move on from a place if something hits me like that, because it's generally in some sort of oil, or spice, or sauce, or whatever it is they use in food prep that doesn't sit well... so, I enjoyed one tasty meal, with a "lingering finish" (for you fellow Scotch enthusiasts), and we'll call it done at that. Give it a try!

(4)Cris W.
Friendly service and good food. A bit on the small side with limited seating. Need to expand. Try the 'pigtine'. It's off the menu and my personal twist on poutine; fries with smoked pork, bleu instead of curds, and bbq sauce instead of gravy.
(4)Mark J.

(4)Sandi B.

(4)Rebecca L.
(5)Kayler H.

(4)Stephanie P.
Great service !!!! Friendliest staff my order was to go and they kept checking on me and refilled my drink :) ! Food was good ! topps BBQ is still my fav but they were pretty close
(5)Amanda E.

(5)MA H.
It's great to be able to have a hearty meal with my BBQ loving friends. While they are chomping down on the meaty fare I'm enjoying my vegan burger w/BBQ sauce and green beans (no butter). Great people and very considerate owner who seems to want to accommodate various eaters.
(4)Andrew S.
Great food..brisket is good..ribs are even better..try the half wet and half dry they are both excellent...twice baked potato salad is very good.

(5)Chris C.
(4)Anna S.
(4)Jon T.
Loved the pulled pork sandwich and great hot sauce. Can't wait to go back for the ribs.
(5)Jeremy L.
Quite possibly the best BBQ in Memphis. I haven't tried the ribs yet, but the nachos and pulled pork sandwich were both amazing! Highly recommended. There can be a bit of a wait but the food is worth it. Glad I love so close.
(5)Chris B.
I've had a catered dinner and a carry-out so far. Great service and AMAZING food! Fried pickles are great, ribs are the best in Memphis, and the banana pudding is killer (good)! Prices are less than $10 for sandwiches, a bit more for ribs and dinners. Great place!
(5)Terri D.
(5)Jon R.

Chicken quesadillas and pork ribs with dry rub are awesome... The bbq sauce is truly divine!!!

(4)Patrick O.

Excellent Brisket, and the twice baked potato salad is off the chart. Ordered a smoked ham for the holidays, and it was some of the best ham I have ever eaten.

Great food. Lots to choose from, generous portions. Tastes very very good. I highly recommend it!

(5)jason b.

(5)Michelle F.
BBQ nachos are the best! I also really like their beans. The service is friendly and they're always willing to refill your drink to go. The only thing I haven't enjoyed was the smoked chicken. It tasted too smoky - it needed more balanced flavor.
(4)Susie M.

(5)Craig W.
Two Thumbs up
(5)Katie C.

(4)Michael W.
I have two complaints about this place 1) I enjoy the pork shoulder so much I never get around to trying anything else. 2) I can never seem to save enough room for dessert.
(5)Latoria Y.
I love this place. The BBQ is so good. My favorite is the pull BBQ chicken sandwich with a side of potato salad. You can't bypass the devil eggs. To top it off they have great customer service. The only downfall is that the space is small & there is limited seating.
(4)Natalie S.
(2)Adam D.
We had the ribs for lunch and they were delicious. It's a little pricey. Two half racks of ribs with sides came to ~$50 after tip (and we only had water with our meal). However, the service was friendly and attentive.
(5)Ben W.
Had the BBQ sandwich and the BBQ chicken and it was perfectly moist with a really savory sauce. My favorite was the twice baked potato salad. Wow that stuff was good! Highly recommend for a good taste of BBQ.
(5)Gregg G.
Tested carry out last evening; extremely pleased with the ribs; deviled eggs we're a treat.
(5)Ashley H.
(4)Charlie B.
(4)Joni M.
Being "an out of towner"...not knowing where to go....we picked a winner...good food & good service! Joni
(4)Danny B.
This place is the best. The staff are super friendly and helpful, true southern hospitality. When you think of Memphis bbq, you won't be disappointed with One and Only. The best bbq money can buy.
(5)Gale K.
This was my first visit and it was carry out ... I will give it a second chance since most reviews are positive. The service was excellent, food was disgusting. I ordered 3 dinners for carry out and the price was 49.15......I thought it was a little pricey.
(2)Kristen S.
(5)Valerie M.
(4)Shawn I.
if you are thinking about having BBQ while in Memphis, you would kick yourself later if you didn't go to One & Only! Great dry rub ribs, twice baked potato salad, and smoky tender brisket... Amazing. And talk about hospitality! The friendly server sent me on my way with a fresh to go cup of sweet tea. Check this place out. You'll be glad you did!
(5)Shawn M.
This little BBQ joint is one of the most excellent unknown business. The meat juicy and the sauce was excellent. I recommend the spicy sauce. The flavor is awsome. I will be back many many times
(5)Tim K.
(3)Erin L.

(3)Dana L.
(4)Jeremy B.
(5)Pamela B.
(5)Johan J.
Amazing food, Amazing staff. The people here take care of the customer. It's not just about making a sale it is about making a new regular. So far I have had Burger,Fries,Ribs,Eggs,Pies,Nachos. The food as well as service is what makes me come back.
(5)Clemmie M.

(3)Mollie R.
Very tender ribs with great flavor. The seating was full but the staff brought a table from outside inside to accommodate us. Great service and food! Highly recommend!
(5)Jackie B.
(4)Matthew B.

Great food at great prices! The girls workign there were really nice and they smile a lot! Be sure to chek this place out!

(5)Katy M.
the ribs wer not all that good & the were not smoking hit.

Great Neighborhood BBQ: This small eatery has consistently high quality BBQ and sides served in a friendly atmosphere.
(5)Laura P.
The best BBQ chicken! Great sides, very different than the typical BBQ restaurants in Memphis. Try the twice baked potato salad and fruit with the BBQ chicken: terrific. I cannot wait to visit agin to try their other offerings.
(4)Paul S.

(4)Veronica X.

(3)Michael B.
This is truly the best bbq in Memphis. I always thought that Central BBQ was my favorite, but after trying this place, I have to say that I was sold.
(5)Gary D.
I tried this last year. I had the non-sandwich pork sandwich platter. Slaw was good. Meat was cooked nicely and was moist and tender. Sauce was good. Not much atmosphere and very limited seating. Talked to the owner and he was very pleasant.
(3)Allen C.

(4)Brandon R.
This place does ribs as good as anyone else around...and I'm from Memphis...I know ribs. And, their twice baked potato salad is amazing. The owner is always there when I'm there and he works to make sure people are satisfied. Fantastic staff!
(4)Holle C.

(5)Jon P.

(3)Mahendra P.
The BBQ sandwiches are pretty good, but I'd suggest that cut the meat into smaller portions in order to expose it more to seasonings.
(3)Carter C.
(5)Lena M.
good food.. the price is good for the area cordial personnel
(4)Pat M.
Potato salad and deviled eggs were so good and the beef ribs were surprisingly good. Would go back again.

Loved it!
(5)Kim B.
For a small diner this is some of the best BBQ I have had. I ordered my ribs wet and would highly suggest them. Chicken was also very good and so tender. Yum.
(5)becky p.
GO! NOW!
(5)Helen J.
Just had a two meat dinner here- ribs and barbeque turkey, on the suggestion of the server. Both were excellent and huge portions. Since I am low carb the server even made me a side salad instead of a carby side. The owner even came by the table to ask how the meal was. Highly recommend One and Only.
(5)Richard B.
(4)James B.
Don't be put off by the forgettable suburban appearance, in a town with several excellent BBQ options, One and Only is still a 5 star choice. The appearance won't impress anyone but the BBQ is excellent, Memphis-style of course. Give it a try.
(5)David Y.
Recommended by a realtor while visiting and the food was exceptional!
(4)Raymond B.

Fantastic ribs. The twice baked potato salad was pretty great too.
