Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

This is our go to Mexican restaurant in the area. The food seems to be more consistent than the other Mexican restaurants in the area. Just wish they had a patio.

CLOSED. I could write a long review about everything that was wrong with this dining experience but it's not needed. Service was passable but the food sucked butt. Horrid, horrible, poor quality, poor cooking, poor looking, just plain bad. I wouldn't set foot back in the place for free food. Oh yes, and the margaritas were nasty also. Sorry to dump on a place but they need to start over from scratch. I should have known when we walked in and the place was almost empty.

I don't usually do reviews for To-Go orders, but I felt that I wanted to highlight La Hacienda. It was a Saturday night, and I had some homework to do, so I ordered the Fajita Nachos, which are cheese nachos with strips of chicken cooked with tomatoes, onions and bell peppers with a special sauce. I enjoyed it very much. I was also surprised that they included the chips and salsa with my order, a bonus, for me! From my observance from the front desk, I noticed that the restaurant would look like a nice place to sit down and eat.

Let's start with the salsa, most of the time salsa in a Memphis Mexican Americanized restaurant has no heat. For once I am glad to say there was heat. Unfortunately the rest of the meal was just average. My wife and daughter truly enjoyed their meals, however mine was over cooked and the meat was dry. Price is cheap, you get what you pay for. Don't think you will find me at this place in the near future.

I'm really not a big fan but go because of a group that meets here monthly. It's not terrible and if I'm hungry I will order food but its very blah. No real flavor and mediocre quality. The prices are pretty on par with other places in town but other places have better food so I'm not sure what the draw is. I've never been outside of group meetings. The place is clean and the decor is super cheesy. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad place - just not for me.

The food was very bland. The happy hour drinks were a laughing stock.do not waste your money. The server that served me drinks told me she didn't drink so I know she didn't know what she was mixing.it taste like pure sugar.

Beer was warm, food was microwaved, and the service was non existent. Needs some work.

When you think of Americanized Mexican food, this is it. I can get cheese quesadillas with extra cheese and tons of sour cream. Cheap, fattening, and fast - three of my favorite things. A little pricey for what it is (but still under $10), but you can't go wrong. The decor makes me laugh because they literally bought their decorations from Party City (sombreros and pinatas) but its charming in an offbeat way. It has a bar and I think this place is pretty popular with the U of M kids - well, the food at least.

Hey, for the price what do you expect? I love this place. It is what it is. Ask for Little Maria.

It's food! But just barely...

Worst. Margarita. Ever. I'd have taken a picture but this thing was such a sickly, pathetically artificial shade of green I'm afraid my iPhone camera couldn't have captured it. Closest thing to the color of this is a gummy worm. Didn't taste like much either. I will say the salsa was good -- I could taste the fresh cilantro -- and the chips were crispy, so that's somethin'. If you decide to pass on the icky margarita, don't order wine. You'll be presented with a wine list that reads (this is no joke): Cabernet, merlot, chardonnay ... nothing more. So I ordered a cabernet and found it undrinkable. P.S. Yes, yes I know a Mexican restaurant is not the best place to order wine and I can accept that. But this vile swill was way past nasty and right on to heinous.

La Hacienda has the best chips and salsa in town. Chunky salsa with fresh cilantro and chopped onions and thin and crispy chips. The salsa tastes exactly like Las Delicias. The La Hacienda tacos (crispy flour tortilla shell) are SO good! Chicken nachos are delicious. Cheese enchiladas are excellent. They also have the best refried beans, very flavorful. The rice is good, too. I normally eat at the Cordova location but this local chain is my favorite in town. This place is really overlooked and underrated. I do not drink so I have no idea about anything other than the food. But the food is excellent for this type of Mexican.

Good decent food and not too pricey

Food was standard American "authentic Mexican". Their large beer was quite large and very affordable. All in the food and drinks were a three star a-ok. The fourth start however goes to Omar. This man took our entire parties (14 people) order in his head. Got it all right. Then when the checks came he knew exactly who was on whose check and where each check went. All of this while dealing with our loud, spontaneous group. Omar was the man!
