not bad burger i expected more, it was not fresh formed like people told me, it definitely was a pre made burger, flavor was good price not too bad just for #1 burger i was expecting more

I really enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant. I had streak sandwich which was good but would definitely recommend a hamburger. Don't be afraid to have fun in there and shoot some tooth picks at the ceiling panels. I do not remember our waitress's name but she was great. It is pretty convenient to all the stuff going on so have fun!

This is definitely my favorite Huey's. Though it's downtown, the atmosphere seems more relaxed (the other ones are too noisy in the evening for me). I love Huey's black bean burger. I always get the west coast burger, it's amazing.

- The search for a post workout meal brought me here. - Had a burger with an egg on it - Good stuff!!! - Cold beer!!! - All good!!!

Great lunch spot - my first visit and would go back again when in Memphis. Great spot to see some March Madness. Really good burger, onion rings were excellent and great service.

If you're from Memphis, you have eaten at Huey's more than a handful of times. It's a great restaurant for kids and becomes a bar at night! I suggest the burgers, chicken tenders, prime rib sandwich, SALADS, and I LOVE their potato soup! It's amazing!

Stopped in for a quick bite after a meeting. Service at the bar was quick and friendly. Ordered the veggie burger with sweet potato fries. Cooked well and tasty. My husband ordered a regular burger with just cheddar and mustard( he is really plain). He went on and on about the quality and how great the burger was. We liked the place and plan to return.

Quick visit to Memphis for a corporate gig, looking for somewhere late on a Sunday for food and a beer. Found Huey's... Food was pretty decent and the beer good, but the live band was very good. Atomic dance machine... Played loads of great music, new and older. Only one criticism.... Put a drum shield/guard up, a little too loud for a small venue, apart from that the 2 leads had great voices. If I come back to Memphis, I will definitely come back for more :)

I wasn't a can of Huey's until tonight!!! The downtown spot is sooo much better than the other one I went to before!!! The burgers were great, onion rings awesome, and need good and cold!!!!

Greasy burgers. Food service frozen French fries. Disinterested service. Avoid this place.

Not a bad joint to pass lunch in. The strong point of the place was the service. We never had to wait for refills or anything else. I had the Huey burger. It was nice. Decent flavor. Nice bum. Came with a nice deli style pickle spear. We ordered onion rings for an appetizer. They were huge! Nicely coated. Unusually, they used purple onions. All in all a good experience.

Great burger! Beer & Spirits selection limited, not the greatest place to go watch sporting events (smaller and only a few TVs). However the Burgers were very good, and the bar staff friendly.

Wowzas!! Onion rings are phenomenal, but don't need to order additional sides with your burger! Wait staff was friendly, service was great and it is a wonderful atmosphere! !

Te amo mucho, Señor Huey! My fave burger in Memphis so far. Great quality beef and super good every time. They cook it just right too. When I ask for medium, that's what I get. Fries are just okay, onion rings are good. But it's all about the burger. Sometimes this spot has live music, which is always a plus. Definitely come here for the burgers, don't bother with the sandwiches. You'll just wish you had a burger!

We found this place just "walking through Memphis," and we were glad we did. It's a very friendly, inviting sort of place, with some outstanding food. For vegetarians, you can get any burger on their great menu served with our choice of a veggie burger, or a black bean burger. They also have a turkey burger options as well. It costs .60 more for the black bean burger, but it is well worth it. The black bean burger is cooked to perfection, has a nice texture, and a great flavor. It's served up with all of the accoutrements we vegetarians enjoyed before we stopped eating meat. It's a very satisfying burger. The fries, however, are on the side, and cost extra. You can get the burger itself for about $6.00, but the fries will cost you $2.00 or so more. I like that separation, especially for people who aren't that hungry. There is a list of some seven or eight different sides you can get with your burger, and one of those is sweet potato fries. One of their great burgers served up with one of their great, local brews makes for one nice, satisfying lunch or dinner. I highly recommend this place for anyone not wanting to eat BBQ in Memphis

Stopped in here to get a burger. Ordered their classic burger and fries. It was good and their fries were very excellent. They had a good selection of local beers on tap. Great bar area with TV's all over the place. Good service. I would definitely come back here again.

The food was very ordinary but the atmosphere and service were excellent. My kids had the mini corn dogs with oranges and the Mac-n-cheese with fries. I am fairly sure the Mac-n-cheese was out of the box Kraft. That's cool though. We know the kids like it! I had the Nachos. The were good but by the time I got them there was not a solid chip in the heap. Maybe throw in a small side dish if chips? Our waitress was fantastic and wicked quick with our drinks. Overall a nice experience for me and the family.

Hamburger Heaven! I try to make it to Huey's every time I'm in Memphis. My last visit I had the Madison Avenue Burger. It was good but I wish I would have stuck with a classic. A great burger doesn't need all the bells and whistles.

Super service the bartender was awesome. Will definitely recommend to all my friends. Good reuben sandwich but doesn't compare to the service. Bartender comped my food because he said it took to long. I think the service was prompt and servers very attentive. If I come back to memphis, I will patronize sgsin

This is a great place to bring a family. I love the environment here! Always a fun time at Huey's. I've been dining at Huey's for as long as I can remember and have never been disappointed. They have gluten free hamburger buns which are delicious!! The spinach salad and potato skins are a must-try! Quick and easy place to get in and out before a Redbirds, Tigers or Grizzlies basketball game.

I'm sorry, but to me this place is just average. I think the pull for most people is that they have so many different kinds of burgers and sandwiches. Unfortunately for me, none of them have ever left me thinking that I need to have it again. The onion rings have the same circumference as the distance of Earth's orbit around the Sun. However, it doesn't make them good, and if you eat all of them before your burger, you will be full and mad at yourself. The best thing here is their appetizers. They do make good cheese fries, and their beer is reasonably priced. It's not a bad place to watch a game and have a beer with friends, but if you're looking for a burger that will leave you begging for more, this probably isn't the place.

After surveying all the nearby beer joints to AutoZone Park. This one is by far the best. Good beer selection, including a lot of local crafts, food bar food, and a great wait and bar staff. Never have seen a bar staff staff this friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed.

This place is good for what it is...an after drinking spot. The fried food, esp the huge onion rings, were amazing. The burgers were ok, but the onion rings alone get 4 stars.

Very interesting decorations. I loved the eclectic collage over the walls. The bathroom was covered in permanent marker with people throughout the years writing their names and a lot of other things. The food was really good. Had the west coast burger. Pattie was juicy and not thin. The guac on top was fresh. The onion rings were huge and great. There were also TVs inside so we could watch the game. The service was good. No complaints. Would probably go back.

Came here because the hotel said it was a decent sports bar nearby. It's a bar with a few TVs but not a sports bar. It's still not a bad place, definitely unique. Had the burger, it was decent, not best ever but good, as others have said the burger doesn't look like anything special but it's still a good burger. Beer on tap was decent, not a huge selection of beers but the drafts are poured well. There was a blues band which sounded good, it might have been a bit loud for the size of the venue but depending on what someone is looking for it would probably be a good setting considering it's free.

The best burger I've ever had in my life! No lie. Saw all the reviews of this place and awards, so I decided to take my cousin when she came to visit and it was AMAZING. great service, too. I've been back after my first experience, and everything was equally as amazing and the service was as well, per expected. I've heard that the Green Beetle has burgers that top these, but I can't imagine a better burger (will try it just to see, and update). A must visit whether you are downtown, midtown or germantown. Go!!

While in town for a trade show, three of us had dinner twice at Huey's Downtown. Two dinners in five days. First night I had the mahi mahi plate with steamed mixed greens. Nice portion of fish. Greens were hot and fresh. Second night I had the world famous burger, everything but no mayo. Great burger, but the lettuce could have been the green leaf of spinach or romaine instead of iceburg. Smart phone app said this is a nice restaurant, walking distance from hotel. If we are in Memphis again, will eat at Huey's (Downtown)

By way of Update, Huey's has earned some respect! I wish all businesses were as proactive (and understood the raw power of Yelp to affect the dining choices of the masses. Yes every user of an iOS device is looking at integrated Yelp as they scan the neighborhood). After posting a rare "meh" review, Huey's management immediately contacted me very interested in how they could learn from our visit. They gave their assurance that corrective action has been taken and appreciate the feedback. I am going to give them another try asap thanks to their good management!

Was in need of good after a morning of flying to Memphis. Came to Huey's which was recommended by our hotel. Went in hungry and left kinda hungry. Our server, Susan, was good and friendly. We tried and succeeded at blowing toothpicks on the ceiling there (history to that story) and watched some sports before the food came. I ordered the sunshine burger (fried egg, mushrooms, cheddar cheese and bacon burger). It was good but I ate it without the bun. I ordered onion rings which could fit on my wrist. Massive!

My 5-star rating is for the burgers! Also the friendly efficient service, plus the casual friendly fun, sports-bar style atmosphere. The window sign says they were voted #1 burger in Memphis. I believe it because these burgers surely rate up there in the top 2 or 3 that I have ever tasted!

Wife brought me here today, came recommended from St. Jude staff. I had California burger(yumm avocado) medium rare, wife had Sunshine burger (egg over easy and bacon), and friend who came had their Huey classic. Susan was our waitress, she was fantastic! Burgers were great, onion rings were monsters made from red onions and delicious as well. When we left asked for to go cups for our iced teas and Susan happily hooked us up. Def coming back before we leave town!!!!

Arrived here on a Sunday night around 7:00pm. It was a decent walk from our hotel room, but we enjoyed it. I ordered the chips with queso which was just "ok". The salsa it came with wasn't spicy at all, so I was kind of bummed. I ordered the French dip sandwich which was awesome! I chose onion rings as my side and they were HUGE! Horse radish, au jus sauce, and man was it gooood! Finished off with a pickle wedge and a pint of cold beer, and I was happy. Cost for my wife and I was about $35 with tip (she ordered a hamburger with French fries). Sports were playing on several 21" flat screen TVs and a live band was getting ready to set up to play, but we were kind of rushed and left. Huey's is worth the walk - check it out!

Had this place on my list to visit for five months and went there while in Memphis and had a great burger with cold beer and had a great experience. Definately a place I would be a regular if I lived in Memphis. Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend coming here for a late night snack- at least to the midtown location. I can't remember the last time I experienced such rude service. We did arrive 20 minutes before the kitchen closed, so maybe that's why our server seemed annoyed with us from the start.... Also, one of my PET PEEVES- do not insinuate that my meal comes with fries OR onion rings when it really comes with neither. The difference will be deducted from your tip. Not because I'm cheap, but because I don't appreciate being mislead while I'm half tipsy. We did feel a bit rushed and were waiting on a cab and instead of being able to wait indoors we were told to stand outside in the cold as they were locking the doors-- not exactly safe to kick a group of girls out at 2:30am. If I hadn't had so many wonderful experiences at Huey's prior, it probably would be a one or two star, but Huey's will always hold a special place in my heart.

Huey's is a fun, charming restaurant with an inner city atmosphere. The chicken is good and crunchy, and isn't doused in grease. Unfortunately, the iced tea was diluted and washed down with water. However, that was a small price to pay, and anyone who appreciates a warm yet powerful atmosphere and satisfying food will enjoy Huey's.
(4)

I come to Memphis often and you can always rely on Hueys to get a good meal at a fair price. Sandwiches hamburgers and salad have always satisfied. You cannot go wrong here.
(5)
Jessica M.
I love coming to Huey's for a consistent good experience - I know I can get a veggie burger topped any way I want it, a decent beer selection, and a wide enough selection to suit just about any dining partner. During the day, this is a great family spot, and you'll see all walks of life enjoying a meal or a drink, from the couples with strollers, the pre-teens out on their own acting like adults, old geezers, and everything in between. On my last visit, I had the "smokey melt" with a veggie patty, and it was terrific. I also appreciate that you get your burger and order sides separately -- that certainly helps with portion control! The burgers are so huge, you don't all need your own sides of fries.

Everytime I have gone to Memphis I always make it a point to make Huey's my first stop. I then know I'm officially in Memphis. great burgers and terrific onion rings. Plus they always make you feel at home. Every other hamburger place is second best. I'm getting hungry just thinking of Huey's!

Overall, I really enjoy Huey's. This location, however, puts a lot in a tight space...some people may not take issue with that, but I like to not be part of another table's conversation when I'm not sitting with them. The atmosphere is fun...you have live music on Sundays and you can shoot toothpicks into the ceilings. You can even graffiti the walls. Their food isn't anything too stupendous, but you'll definitely enjoy it! One of the first places I send people if they're looking for a burger or some great music and beer!

OK a vegetarian in Memphis, TN... enough said. I was not expecting much.... This place not only has veggie burgers but two different types of patties - black bean or soy veggie. We were a party of 6, we got seated promptly even though the place was packed! Guess we got lucky. This was one of the only places open on NYE. We were there for the liberty bowl game and it was packed with ISU fans! We ordered chips and queso to start with. It was edible... the chips were good the cheese sauce was pretty sad. They had yuengling on tap! The hubby and I split the Sunshine burger (with onion straws) and West coast burger (with sweet potato fries), both with black bean patties. The sunshine burger has a runny yolk... it was awesome! The onion straws are also pretty darn good. The west coast burger comes with guacamole and on a whole wheat bun.... it was pretty good too but was a little dry needed some mayo/ketchup or something. The service was great! If we are in Memphis again we know we can count on one place for good food.

Went here on Friday Night (12/30/11) for drinks before dinner and the bartender was very nice and even though he didn't know how to make a special shot my friend requested he tried and it was really good. The beer prices were also very fair as a 22 oz of Ghost River was $6.25. After a few drinks my friends and I shot toothpicks into the ceiling and that was a fun way to end the night at Hueys.

Meh! Nothing special here. My hamburger had so much salt on it the salt crystal were crunching between my teeth when I ate it. The bartender asked me how I liked it and I said it was way to salty and he said something like that is the way they like it there and that was how they are all seasoned??? I have had much better. Nothing special here. I never send back my food if at all possible but I would not come back here unless I had no other choice.

This place reminds me of the Kansas City restaurant called Tanner's. Hubby and I went here today for a very late lunch/early dinner, which we are now calling lunner. We had the local brew Ghost River and ordered Nachos. The Nachos were good, although we thought they had too many jalapenos. Burgers are the specialty of HUEY'S and I opted for the Bluff City Burger. It was smoked cheddar, onion straws, bacon, and BBQ sauce. The burger was good, and the BBQ sauce tasted a lot like A-1 steak sauce. My biggest critique is the sides all have to be ordered separately. Everything is ala carte. Hubby opted for the Cuban Sandwich and he enjoyed it. I ordered the home made potato chips and they were wonderful. Crispy, not greasy, and not too salty. The food was a plenty and we took leftovers back to our hotel for a snack later in the evening. The quirky thing about this place was all the toothpicks in the ceiling. Apparently customers shoot their sandwich toothpicks into the ceiling tiles. Kind of give some character to the place. I'd go back to Huey's and recommend others give it a try.

After eating BBQ for days, I needed a change of pace and read that Huey's is a good place to get a hamburger. Despite a late lunch that left me pretty full still, I decided to go to the 2nd Avenue location at 9:00 p.m. figuring that it would be less crowded if I went a little later. Not so much. It was crowded for a weeknight and parking was on the street 2 blocks away but it didn't take long to be seated. This looks more like a bar than a restaurant but it had tables with red checkered tablecloths, all filled with diners so I take that as a good sign for any eatery. I ordered the Huey Burger with grilled onions because grilled onions make everything taste better. If you order a burger, the sides are discounted so I got onion rings and a soda. The burger was juicy and flavorful and it hit the spot, the onion rings made for a perfect pairing. Their menu lists food items as prescriptions so it was just what the hamburger doctors ordered.

I'm a fan of Huey's generally. It's usually a hit with out of town guests since the restaurant flair and toothpick shooting keep everyone entertained. The food is solid and the burgers are tasty. My husband even tends to miss Huey's burgers when we are away from Memphis for a while. I enjoy my usual turkey burger substitution here and love their sweet potato fries. The service has been slow/bad a couple times though and the water at the downtown location tastes weird to me (I always forget this and still order it then have to get something else). *UPDATE* Huey's contacted me after this review and apologized for the slow service and offered to make it up to me. I'm leaving my review at 4 (because I am a fan!) but I do think Huey's deserves some brownie points for really caring about their customers' experiences. They rock!

We live next door to this location. I've ordered 2 times in the last 3 weeks from here. Both were to go orders of two burgers. Both times they gave me the wrong burgers and gave me the wrong sides. I'm hesitant to order again because I'm not confident they'll be able to give me the right order.

Huey's was the first place we stopped at to eat upon entering Memphis. Being a little burnt out, I wasn't feeling adventurous, so I opted for the standard Huey burger, not realizing until after the fact that there were some pretty great burger options. If I'm not mistaken, my girl played it even safer and had salad. I liked how goofy this place was. It was really busy, but everyone was having fun, and the ceiling is littered with toothpicks from where patrons are encouraged to shoot them through their straws. I tried doing one, and it kind of gave the ceiling a little kiss, and flew south. The burger was very tasty, and their onion rings are MASSIVE. I had one ring that could have doubled as saturn-rings for my burger. I love it! Needless to say, I was stuffed after that meal. Huey's is a good meal stop. Next time I hope to try one of their more wild burger options.

This place has great nachos and burgers. It is also quite entertaining because they give you toothpicks and they allow you to shoot them at the ceiling. Fun times!. Would recommend this place to others and would go again!

This was the first place I stopped into in Memphis. It was a decent find. Not quite on Beale Street, but definitely holding its own. I was drawn in by the music. The band played some classics that just drew me in. The food was okay. I had a burger with an egg on top. The fries were regular fries. Wait staff was very friendly and prompt. Because the place wasn't really hopping (Sunday night) he just sat around and jammed to the music until he noticed that you needed assistance. Works for me.

Not as amazing as other reviewers have made it out to be. I feel like Marshall from How I Met Your Mother, in an eternal quest to find the perfect hamburger, and always come away disappointed. Burger was OK, a little overcooked for my taste, and the Onion Rings were just a bit too much. Also got a Ghost River and the waitress was annoyed when I asked what type of beer it was. Service was also a bit weird in that the waitress couldn't bother to come over to my table but rather yelled at me from ten feet away while she was on her way to the kitchen. Sorry to be a bother but I'd rather not shout my orders across a restaurant floor. All in all....meh.

I arrived in Memphis late on a Sunday night and went off in search of gluten free food. The task here in downtown Memphis was more difficult than I imagined it would be. I stumbled onto Huey's. If you're looking for burgers, Huey's is for you. I wasn't feeling too hot when I walked in. This was the ninth restaurant of the night looking for that right meal. I stayed for the music. Yes, Huey's had live music, a classic rock band, "The Beat Generation." They were worth sticking around for. The burger was okay, presented sans bun on a some lettuce with a nice side salad, er, along side. As I was eating, I thought that the band was better than the burger, even if the burger was seasoned perfectly and grilled to perfection. The question for me: Would I return? Yes, if I were in the mood for burgers.

I'm sorry but this place was just TERRIBLE! The food actually made me regret having eaten there. I had the three sliders which is supposedly their award-winning claim. Now the meat was excellent, everything else? Ugh. The bread was the worst, it's like they spent all their money on the meat and let everything else go. The bread had a weird buttery flavor and completely overpowered the burger taste. The toppings were dry and lackluster. I subbed my onion straws with onion rings and they CHARGED me for it. I'm sorry but if the price of a meal INCLUDES a side and you don't give me that side in lieu of another then I shouldn't pay the full price for the original entree if you're going to charge me for the side order! Our waitress was pretty surly which was too bad because it seemed like all the other servers were really nice and friendly (our host was really friendly when he seated us). So in short, the onion rings were nasty (over-breaded with the onions almost raw inside), the great meat in the burgers was over-powered by the nasty bun and toppings and finally I tried my wife's onion straws and they had the texture and taste of salty ashes.

Slow service.... crappy internet radio with stupid commercials. No food after 1am... at all. Very under staffed. Will never come back.

This may be the worst service/food combo I've ever experienced. It starts with a structure devoid of any realness. It's all flair up in this bitch. You might as well be at Chili's or Applebee's, although I've actually had better food at both. The whole place is like watching the movie Waiting live. The server walked to the table with his hat pulled down over his eyes, and without uttering a hello asked what we'd like to drink. Did not address anyone specifically, just stared down at the table and blurted out, "what do you want to drink?" After we got over that awkwardness it was the same for ordering our food. One point of contention with the ordering process, and beware, the server asked, "any fries or onion rings with your sandwiches," implying that those options were included with the sandwich. Um, not. These were additional charges that were added to the bill. Full disclosure usually keeps people coming back, but then again, a place like Huey's relies on pot-bellied tourists who'll never come back... The food itself was as bland and fried as it comes. Fried shrimp po' boys, fries, onion rings, catfish, etc.... The burgers are their specialty and they are not horrible, but they are not even good. We went to Sweet Grass the previous night and the burger was phenomenal! The grossest thing was the shrimp in the po' boy look like some processed mush, battered and fried. Service: F Food: D- Realness: F

Huey's is a staple here in Memphis and they are an extremely consistent business. Their food is always good with good service and a great atmosphere. My favorite spot is the downtown location but the mid town location is a close second.

Best veggie burger in town! Huey's Midtown never lets you down. Welcoming staff, great food, easygoing atmosphere. On Sundays, they usually have bands.
(4)

I love and miss Huey's! It's super divey, but I love that aspect of it, it seems more authentic than hipstery. The burgers and fries are great - I think its the copious amounts of mayo they use.
(4)
Steve H.
Tasty burgers! Good beers and such. Decent waitstaff. Worth a stop. UPDATE: Huey's Marketing Coordinator thoughtfully contacted me to thank me for stopping by - that says a lot about a company/restaurant. Be sure to stop by and give these folks your business. They're located right next to the Peabody and have a nice row of window seats so you can people-watch while you dine. Enjoy!

Awesome sandwiches, casual vibe, good people. There is no frills and not pretense. Just go for some g.r.u.b. and relax. This is not a tourist spot, for sure, but if you want a safe lunch or drinking spot any time of day, come to Huey's. If I am back to Memphis ever, I'll make sure to get my late night grub fix here.
(4)
Andrew M.
Looks and feels like a burger bar. Friendly service from server, bartender, and manager. I had lunch--starting with soup of the day, Tomato Florentine which was delicious. I also had the Bluff City burger (cheddar, bacon, onion straws from scratch). It was very good but not amazing--making me question the best burger in town claim. My only critique is my medium well burger was well done. I would definitely go again. Also, nice selection of local craft beers.

I am not sure if it's their fab burgers OR just a big reminder of my hometown of Memphis but I LOVE Huey's. You walk in and it is clear that this is a burger joint. There are writings on the wall, toothpicks stuck to the ceiling and loud talking. Huey's is a Memphis staple and they never disappoint. When I am home I make a bee line right to the Huey's downtown because there is no place better. MMMMM Good!!
(5)

Went to this Huey's as a backup after another place I planned to go to was unexpectedly closed. I tried their version of a Cuban sandwich, which was quite good.

What a fun place! I came here with a bunch of friends on my first day in Memphis. I had the sliders and they were awesome. The atmosphere is great, too. A bunch of us had fun trying to follow in the apparent tradition of blowing toothpicks through straws to stick into the ceiling. I couldn't get one to stick but a bunch of my friends did. I would definitely go back if I'm in Memphis again!
(4)
Chris P.
Best part? SHOOTING TOOTHPICKS INTO THE CEILING. Food is pretty delicious, but really - the toothpick thing. You might need some makeshift wadding to get a good seal in the straw, then - POW - shoot that sucker straight up.
(3)
Jared P.
Wow, the burgers here are great! I think I got the Huey burger and my girlfriend got the wrap and I ate almost both!
(4)
Kyle W.
I walked into Huey's expecting some formulaic burger joint, with a passable burger. I left with grease dripping from my chin, great conversation echoing in my ears, and a desire for one more PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon). The bartender recommended the Texas Toast Burger with pepper-jack cheese, jalapenos, and caramelized onions. It was fantastic. The fries weren't that great but the burger its a difficult ac to follow for anything. You can throw your toothpick into the ceiling, and at the end of the year, they will gather them all up, count em, and hold a contest to see who's closest. The proceeds benefit the Memphis Zoo, where I volunteer, so I appreciated the atmosphere as well. This is a place where the tourists and the locals should all put on their list.

I enjoyed the eclectic atmosphere, but the burger I had here was just good, not great.

I tried the black bean burger here the other night and was totally wowed by the deliciousness that ensued. The patty has this char-grilled, crispy, meatiness to the outside and then when you hit the inside you can taste the smokey, black bean flavor. Delicious. I thought it would be an odd texture, but honestly I couldn't tell any difference from regular old meat. It also had much better flavoring than meat. Go figure. The only flaw was I ordered the standard, classic Huey burger. After tasting it, I realized I should have opted for the burger with guacamole on top. That would have been to die for. Now I have to come back and try just that. You can get the black bean or veggie option with any of their burger creations. It's a small up charge, but totally worth the change.

I'm traveling from the SF Bay Area via Texas, then New Orleans, and now Memphis. After a long day of driving from Louisiana on a completely empty stomach, I'm already seeing double. As I checked into my hotel, I asked the clerk, "...got...food...recommendations?" "...um what kind..." "....UHMMM. American?" With no hesitation, the clerk responded with, "Huey's on 2nd Street. They got burgers." YEEE-HAH! ...my Yelp "last meal on Earth!" ...it must be a sign. I looked 'em up online, and they've been around since 1970; they also have a fairly traditional menu - with their specialty being hamburgers. They also have the fried fare such as french fries, onion rings, fried mushrooms, etc. - in addition to sandwiches, chicken, and some "healthier" options as well. It's located on a busy corner at 2nd and Union - in walking distance from bustling Beale St, office buildings, and a few hotels. As with the last few places I've visited here in the South, the interior, I would say, is '70s-American-Pub, which is dark wood, mirrors at the bar, dimly lit, and serves its purpose 50-50 as bar-and-restaurant, or restaurant-and-bar with music on, TV on, and semi-loud voices. The energy is just bursting with people having fun. and also the corner location easily lended itself to being able to see the night life outside as well. The sign said to, "seat yourself", so I comfortably seated myself at a booth. Fascinating enough, the wall adjacent to my booth was just covered in handwriting from patrons having signed the wall! Susan, the waitress, came up to greet me lickity-split with a warm Sourthern smile on her face. She was very efficient, and took my drink order, came back almost immediately, and took my food order, which was the following - Texas Toast Burger - 5.95 The World Famous Huey Burger topped with pepper jack cheese, grilled onion and jalapeno, served on Texas toast. I also had them add tomato and cheddar, and when she asked me how I wanted it cooked, I said, RARE. (It's always interesting how restaurants respond to this with the outcome, cuz it's always different!) Considering how busy they seemed, I waited only 10-15 minutes for my food, before looking up to see the big tall guy (I guessed either manager, or proprietor) with an even bigger smile deliver my food. They actually cooked the meat according to order, and it was totally pink except for the outside! Most restaurants I've encountered over-cook it even in the slightest of ways....very impressive! The portion was just right, and it was filling, yet not a gut-bomber. I wolfed that thing down in less than five minutes, while washing it down with iced tea! Susan tried to upsell me on dessert, but my stomach was "...JUST RIGHT, and I didn't want to ruin my euphoria with fear of sending it over the edge..." Service was typical of a place like this; timing was efficient; ambience was fun, and the burger was made exactly to how I wanted it. Not to mention - Memphis is a way-cool city with spunk. The bill came out to approximately $12 (tax AND tip). They deserve four stars!

In a word, disappointed. We were only in Memphis for a night. Huey's is conveniently located across from the Peabody hotel and seemed like a no-brainer. We both ordered the 3 sliders thinking it would be a great opportunity to try 3 different kinds of burgers. They were awful. The hamburger patties were little dry hockey pucks. The bread was equally dry. They tasted like they had been overcooked and assembled long before we arrived. Yuck.

Unlike the other places I visited, Huey's offers a set of three different sliders. Called the Little Miners "Trio," it consists of a mushroom and Swiss, Pepper Jack and jalapeños, and bacon and cheddar sliders. With this variety, I assumed that at least one of them would be good. To sweeten the pot, barbecue and chipotle sauces were included, along with onion straws. Although my first inclination was to immediately begin dipping, I resisted the urge. I did it for the sake of keeping the comparison between the two restaurant chains as fair as possible. I started with the mushroom and Swiss slider, which was far from being "BOM." The best part of it was the beef patty, seasoned with a nice mix of spices with a heavy emphasis on black pepper. The mushrooms and Swiss cheese didn't provide anything that I couldn't get elsewhere. Overall, the slider was decent, but nothing to crow over. The bacon and cheddar slider was somewhat better. In addition to the beef patty, the bacon strips added good smoky flavor. The cheddar cheese was what it was, tying it all together for a nice slider. Last but far from the least, the Pepper Jack and jalapeño slider was the best of the trio. The jalapeños provided a spicy punch, aided by the tartness of the Pepper Jack cheese. On Huey's beef patty, this combination works well for the slider. If I order the Little Miners "Trio" again, I will try to get three Pepper Jack/jalapeño sliders. I will likely have to pay more (only the bacon and cheddar slider are offered as a set of three at the "Trio" price), but it will be worth it. To make this a well-rounded review, I also had Huey's Texas Toast Burger. This sandwich wasn't picked at random. Just about everyone I've talked to said it's their favorite Huey burger. It's the only sandwich that I will order there, because I like a lot better than anything else. The Texas Toast is loaded with jalapeños along with Pepper Jack cheese and grilled onions. If the two pieces of toast were substituted for a bun and came without grilled onions, it would be a bigger version of my favorite Huey slider. As good as that slider was, its big brother was better. With the caramelized onions coming into play, the result is a burger full of flavor. The spiciness of the jalapeños dominated, but it doesn't interfere with the other elements that contribute to the burger. I could be wrong, but I believe the Texas Toast was cheesier that its slider counterpart. It felt that way as I ate it, one gooey bite at a time. The "toast" component of the burger was excellent. With a golden brown texture and infused with butter, it also played a big role in the goodness of the Texas Toast Burger. In all, this is a nice burger that stands out at Huey's. With the Texas Toast Burger, I got a side of steak fries. They had a light crunch that gave way to its interior tenderness. Although the fries weren't salty, they had enough flavor to satisfy most. Even though I liked the steak fries, I might opt for the sweet potato waffle fries on my next visit. I recently had them with Huey's West Coast Burger and was surprised at how well they complemented it. They are light on sweetness, having just enough to make the main dish better without overwhelming it. After several visits to Huey's, I've concluded that it makes good burgers but far from the best. However, a good marketing team can make a huge difference in how anything is perceived. So even though its burgers aren't the best on Second Street, good promotion will always keep Huey's in the public eye. In that regard, "BOM" should stand for "Best Outstanding Marketing." Even though the marketing team does a great job, it's the product that ultimately wins me over. With regards to that, Huey's makes a good burger but not Memphis' best. The food is great, the only thing that is lacking is their wait staff. I have eaten here MANY times, and 3 out of 5 times the waiter ignores the table whether there are 3 other patrons there or 30. They get better waiters and the rating will go up to 5 stars

Went to HUEYS again Saturday night Dec. 3, 2011. This time we went with a group of friends. 14 of us! We only had a 25 minute wait and they had no trouble accomodating us. We had a great time and the food was great as always! WE LOVE HUEYS!!

The folks in Memphis don't know what a good burger is apparently. They have voted this place best of and that doesn't speak well for burgers in this town. Burger just OK. Not bad but not a best of. The onion rings were inedible. Really thick slices that there was no way to bite it. If you struggle with the plastic fork and knife you just end up tearing it apart. Tried biting one and couldn't bite through it for the skin of the onion was too tough. The fried mushrooms were pretty good but don't make a meal. Service was mediocre at best. I didn't eat the onion rings and the waitress didn't even ask if anything was wrong just did I want a box to take them home. Had a minor chance there to salvage a customer. Might have tried again if service was exceptional. Won't be back now. Pity as I have about a month more in town staying one block from their downtown location. 12/14/12 I want to add that I contacted the management from the owner's comment and they were very concerned about my experience. They questioned me on my visit and apologized and are responding in an excellent manner to make things right and turn my negative experience to a positive one. I have upgraded them from 2 stars to 3 based upon this. Don't have a time machine to fix the whole thing but a good response like this indicates management is serious.

Most pleased with Huey's! Relevant veggie options, great service, and adequate beer selection. Good spot for a burger.

A good bar & grill place located right in downtown Memphis...what sold me is that they actually had a heart-healthy menu- i had a tuna steak sandwich with a side of salad, filling, tasty and healthy. And the prices were right too............for those not currently trying to shed the holiday pounds, the full-flavor options also looked very tasty. Will have to go back and try them one of these days.........

Two out of 5 stars here was really saved by the waitress, the fried pickles, and the 80's music playing. The fried pickles were delicious and greasy the way they should be and served with a side of Ranch dressing. The place is apparently known for its burgers, but we didn't go that route. Instead, we opted for the catfish basket and steak sandwich. The fried catfish strips were horribly fishy tasting. The steak was ordered medium and came out well done. The steak was so tough that it couldn't be cut easily with the plastic utensils. Plastic utensils??? Really? Even the french fries (steak fries style) were undercooked and soggy. Here's a tip for you, if a place is known for one item (in this case the burgers) it's probably a sign that they don't really do anything else good. The end.

This places definitely has a charm all of its own. At first glance, it didn't look much more than a glorified, local Chili's or other such fake neighborhood chain. But upon further inspection, you notice a lot more character. My burger was tasty. And this place was recommended by my Kosher friend (i.e. restaurant vegetarian). I think it would be a winner for late-night semi-drunken foodery.

Whenever my wife and I are in Memphis, we usually stay at the Holiday Inn just across from Huey's. We'll stop there before we head out for the night, and will stop again on our way back. Prior to November 2010, the food was always consisten. Good burgers, great onion rings, etc. Then they did a renovation in November, and since then, there's been something just a little different. Maybe they have a new cook, or new deep fryers.. something has changed. On our last trip, the bun for the burger wasn't toasted, the onion rings were soft. Huey's has always had almost burnt onion rings with a great crunch, but no longer it seems. I usually always get the shrimp platter, and even the shrimp just didn't have the crispy crunch I'm used to. We've been there twice since the renovation with the same results. I hate to say it but one more time like this and we're probably going to finding a differnt joint to grub at. The bar itself we've always and still do like, but the food has taken a hit.

Last week, I had to clean up the bar before I sat down, but ended up with a great burger. This week, I had a clean bar to sit down to and and had a disappointing burger. The "crispy" onions on the burger were a soggy mess. To the credit of the staff, they noticed the me picking around the mess and fixed it! This remains my go-to place for a burger, just a little inconsistent. One thing -- do the beer companies no longer give out coasters? The napkin thing is worse than nothing. I have no doubt that many of my visits here will end up with short comments and 4 stars.

Huey's is a sports bar but not divey. Huey burger was delicious, and sweet potato fries super. The waitress was ultra-super-helpful with bus information and stuff that was not her job at all. I went at about 4:30 on a Friday. If I could maintain my "girlish" figure on a diet of burgers and fries, i'd come back a few more times before i leave Memphis.

Huey's has eight or so restaurants in the Mid-South area, and the downtown location is an awesome spot for lunch or dinner. Come by before or after a Redbirds game or stop in on your way out to Beale. You'll find the same fun atmosphere, great live music, and delectable burgers at the corner of Second and Union. If you've never been, you've got to try a burger first and foremost. I always go for the original Huey burger while my husband opts for the West Coast burger. This is one of the juiciest burgers you will ever have the pleasure of eating so don't miss out. Fat fries accompany the meal that is served in a big basket. Other favorites? Choose between the chicken fingers, grilled chicken and pineapple skewers or huge Chef salad. There's plenty more sandwiches and sides on the menu (onion rings are worth a mention here) so there's something to suit everyone's taste. As you eat, turn your eyes upward, where you'll find thousands of frilly toothpicks stuck in the ceiling. Don't leave without slipping one into your straw and trying to blow one up there and make it stick with the others. Fun times!

The last stop on our Memphis adventure. We ran into it on our way to another restaurant we were gonna go to, but decided this place would be better. Pretty sure this is the right one, but there are Huey's all over the place. Apps: Fried Pickles, Cheese Fries, Onion Rings Entrees: Friend: Bluff City Burger- Kaiser Roll, smoked cheddar cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce and onion straws Me: Shrimp Po-Boy- Hoagie bun, roumalade sauce Food: Everything was just amazing. And the portions were HUGE. The fried pickles and onion rings were great. And the cheese fries were okay. Onion rings aren't normally the size of your face, right? Well these were. The Bluff city burger was juicy and the BBQ sauce added a nice sweet flavor against the salty bacon. The Po-Boy was a bit boring looking, and bland tasting, but the roumalade gave it a nice kick. Service: This lady was our best friend. She gave us our drinks, then promptly returned with carafes of soda! Carafes! Best. Friend. She made sure we were okay, and was really friendly the entire time we were there. Even though we kept deciding to put more things into our order. Overall: A great place to hangout. TV's make is sport-fan friendly and if you like big portions, Huey's is definitely your place.

The hubby enjoyed his burger. (I don't remember what he got) I got some trio of sliders with onion strings. I'll say that those are not good representation of their burgers. Flavorless, dry and limp for both items. I couldn't even eat the rest of the onion strings. That was our first meal in Memphis since Little Tea Shop was closed. Not a great way to start the trip. I only gave it a 3 star because the hubby said his was good but did say he wouldn't need to come back.

Had dinner here on a Sunday night. Great atmosphere, really great burger. Super friendly staff. Live blues band on-stage after 8:30, good band. They gave our kids a glass of straws and toothpicks, and the kids shot the toothpicks into the ceiling tiles (everybody does this). Great experience.

I ate at Huey's at the recommendation of my hotel concierge, but I wish I'd stuck with my original plan of going to the Kooky Canuck next door. I'm sure they're going for an off-beat, eclectic atmosphere, but it feels forced and borderline cartoonish. Even the graffiti on the walls feels like it got started by someone intentionally leaving Sharpies laying around and turning their back for a few minutes after a busload of high school kids arrived. The burger, purported to be the best in Memphis (I actually saw three different places claiming to have the best burger in town within a few blocks of each other), was just okay. Although done to my liking, the beef was kind of flavorless and the bun wasn't anything special. The onion rings were substantial and greasy, the way they should be, although the heavy batter became overly soggy with congealed fryer oil as soon as they started to cool off. If I had to express my experience as an equation it would be a little something like: Average Food + Cheesy Atmosphere / Number of Restaurants in Town = Meh.

Well being a memphian, Hueys is the ONLY place i will go to an order a burger! Everyone has different taste buds though so I respect everyone;s opinion but ME PERSONALLY.... hueys has never ever ever failed me... now the one dtown might be too hectic to stay on top of their game like the other locations but I have been going there since i was little and i LOVE IT!! I like the new one called Blues City Burger....I have never understood why they let me ppl blow toothpicks on the ceiling but I have written on every hueys wall in memphis lol....But the food is good fromthe HUGE nachos, to the burgers, to the catfish....maybe i just always luck up but I love it and i think everyone should at least give it one try!!

Huey's is an established restaurant and far from the dive restaurant scene, which actually seems to horde the best burger recipes if you ask me. I had a Señor Huey burger here, and it was ok. The service was very friendly, and the food came out quickly. The restaurant is nicely laid out with lots of tables by the windows and wall on the side where you can sign your name. It's a convenient place to eat after watching the Peabody Ducks as it opens right around lunch time.

I was expecting super touristy food that was the same ol' junk they serve everywhere but the food here was actually really good. The onion rings and straws were Yummy! Not too crowded and you can spit cocktail toothpicks through a straw at the ceiling. That's pretty awesome.

Good food. Fun, tasty burgers. Plenty of good beers to wash the food down with. A nice eclectic, friendly atmosphere. All in all a place that I would definitely come back to.

This place seemed to be the only place in downtown Memphis that had veggie burgers. We enjoyed the ambiance, and our food was very good. I think they smoke the veggie burgers (which are made from scratch)!!!! We also ate the fried mushrooms, which were definitely made from scratch!

It was okay, nothing special. Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon when restaurant availability is limited downtown. Bar food, lots of traffic but our food was not memorable.

I don't know if this review is credible, considering we were pretty intoxicated from a day and night out on Beale street when we ate here, but i thought it was very good. I would definitely recommend giving it a try. I had the smokey something..smokehouse burger? Idk but it was tasty.

Hamburger joint with great onion rings. The service was a bit off and the food will take a while to arrive. Bring a newspaper or someone you have a lot of catching up to do with. It will help pass the time.

Huey's had some interesting decor, and plenty of reasonably priced bar fare to choose from. Our server wasn't the friendliest guy, but got our stuff out alright. My burger was overcooked as per typical of my luck, but it wasn't so well done that it was inedible. It's a decent place, I'd give it a go again.
(3)
Jacob S.
I like Huey's. There's a reason it's been voted best burger for like 25 years in a row (a. there's little competition and b. it's consistent). Fairly good beer selection, although I sometimes find myself wishing they had more beers on tap. Service is usually quick, unless it is packed (rare). I don't know if I would recommend the salad or the brownie, as they both look like they were prepared well in advance. Great place for a burger and beer.

We arrived into Memphis late and needed a place to grab a bite. It was here or the TGi Fridays in the hotel. I opted for this and I wasn't disappointed. The place isn't the cleanest but ultimately it was kid friendly and they had a band playing which was a nice break from the norm for us. I should highlight that they had a great kids menu and honestly after a long trip on the road (2000+ miles) this was the first meal our kids really devoured. Normally I would not be all that excited about the kids getting Kraft Mac and Cheese, but that's what the kids needed! They also got the chicken strips and after hearing my son complain about McDonalds chicken strips twice on this trip they went over well, with him even saying "yum!" "These are really good!"

Lunch time in downtown Memphis can be hectic some days and ducking into Huey's is always an easy choice. Granted this can be a little heavy for lunch, but the staff is top notch and the food is too! I usually stick with burgers, mainly West Coast Burger, Bluff City Burger, or Little Miners Trio. The salads look good, but I go to Huey's for burgers and sandwiches. The Philly, Steak, and Cuban are my favorites. I'm never disappointed in Huey's.

Hueys is growing on me. Every time I go back my reviews are getting better and better. I've gotten to the point where I like everything I have (minus the chili on the cheese fries, ack, big mistake! It's just too wet for the fries and they end up swimming in juice). I've always loved the atmosphere there, and the service has gotten tremendouly better at each location.

Huey's was recommended to me by a cab driver as "the burger place" downtown, and I was not disappointed at all. Really terrific basic burger and great steak fries. The beer selection is nice and the drafts are good and cold. My waiter was attentive, polite and clean. He definitely did not look like the typical Beale St bar workers, who are usually lacking in positive personal grooming habits. I will recommend Huey's to all my friends traveling to Memphis.
(4)
Kara H.
My husband and I brought our 3 kids to Huey's. We are on a cross country road trip, and this was a highly recommended stop. The kids really enjoyed shooting the toothpicks on the ceiling. My husband mastered the craft right away. We had artichoke dip, burgers, and a Po Boy with fried shrimp. Food and service were both very good. I'd recommend it!

The server was super fast and friendly, and she greeted me when I walked in the door. The atmosphere was calm low level no lining very comfortable. the order was placed and was done before I return from the restroom. that's fast. The nachos and now I'm going to see what they taste like. The nachos were fantastic it was enough for two maybe three the meat cheese melted properly festivals lettuce tomato peppers, sour cream everything was great! Downtown Memphis for nachos go to Hueys.

Wow! What a great first impression. My only real complaint is that the first bathroom stall I went in didn't have a working lock. Other than that everything was perfect. I looked on Yelp before getting there and saw the A1 burger which looked amazing so I knew what to be on the lookout for. When I saw on the menu that it had a sourdough bun I was worried but I asked the waitress if I could get a different kind it was no problem! And boy was it was tasty! The A1 was a little different than what I was used to (bbq) but I thought it might be strange to ask for a different kind of sauce on an "A1" burger. It was yummy nonetheless and really filled me up! The onion strings on it were fantastic. Our waitress was great. She told us the specials and like I said, accommodated to out 'special' requests. She brought us out a pitcher of Dr. Pepper since that what we were all drinking when we needed refills which was really nice! And at the end of the meal she brought us 3 clean straws (there was a tip in the menu that dry straws work better) to try and shoot the tooth picks into the ceiling. I even got one to stick! I can't wait to visit Huey's again.

This used to be my go-to for hangover lunches - big greasy burgers, onion rings and never-ending ranch dressing. I think that's why I forget about it when I need to grab a quick lunch on a workday - I still associate it with lunches of hangovers' past. I've cleaned up my act a bit (with the food, maybe not so much with the booze) and typically don't eat ground beef or anything fried. A vegan friend told me about their black bean burger, which is what I ordered today - via carry out. It's outstanding. Really flavorful with a nice texture (sometimes hard to find with black bean burgers). Huey's and this burger have now moved to the top of my go-to list for non-hangover and hangover lunches alike - especially when I just need to grab something quick and head back to the office.

There are Huey's restaurants located all over the Memphis area and they're very similar. Meaning, they're convenient and you'll never be disappointed. Huey's is the best place to just hang out and have some good fried bar food. My husband ordered the classic Huey's Burger, took one bite and said, "man, this is such a good burger." After totally clearing his entire plate, we tried to figure out why the burger was so good. I mean, it's very simple. Pretty much just a burger on a bun. We don't know what makes it so delicious (perhaps the simplicity?), but he was definitely happy that's what he ordered. I ordered Chicken Miners, basically they were little chicken sandwiches and they were delicious. Also, every time we go to Huey's ordering fried pickles is a MUST. I love fried pickles and Huey's has some of the best I've ever had. While you're there, be sure to sign your name on the wall and try to shoot your toothpick into the ceiling tiles!

Very nice dinner. Large choice of burgers, very affordable. The western burger is great. Their sweet potatoes waffles fries are delicious. Desserts are good too. Lemon pie is ok. Decor is very nice with writings all over the walls.

Worst Cobb salad and blue cheese dressing. Food did come quick. We had 3 different people come to our table to wait on us then no one to be found once food was delivered. No napkins on table with two kids under 6. Surely there is better food in downtown Memphis. Where?

I had the Steak sandwhich, my friend had the Shrimp Po'boy in buffaloe style. Both sandwiches were fantastic. The fries were okay, not bad. Our drinks and server we're fantastic. Would definitely go back on a return trip to Memphis!

The food was decent, but nothing special. While the staff was very friendly, they tended to cater to the younger "we need to split the bill, so I can separate my 1 beer and cheese fries" crowd vs. paying attention to those who are actually spending money. I was disappointed, and wouldn't go back. Especially with all the other great alternatives.

Our first time in Huey's and the food was outstanding. My husband, who is a hamburger snob, ordered the Smokey Melt Burger and said it was the best burger he has ever eaten. We also ordered the onions rings and can I say WOW! They where so very good. Loved the atmosphere and service was great.

WOW! BURGERS BEERS ANS DANEEN. DANEEN, our server was a goddess among cockroaches, which weren't found in this restaurant. My burger was so good I finished it in like 2 minutes. It was the first bar that came up on yelp when searching for a sports bar. It was right across the street from our hotel so we went over. It's not exactly a sports bar in the sense that they lacked having a lot of TV's and of what they did have they were small. It was all made good though once we were told the drink specials and I ordered a burger. The burger was incredible. Cooked perfectly with great seasoning. I had the sweet potato waffle fries as well and they were great. I would definitely come back. Helps when the bartenders are easy to have a conversation with as well.

Completely surprised at how good the food is here. Completely surprised. The service was excellent as well. I appreciate they have options to the menu, for vegetarian and "healthier" eating. My only problem, and this stretches across everywhere we went - its just hard to get a good salad down here. I know, I know, its all about the barbeque, but I physically can't splurge on every single meal when I'm traveling in the south! Other than that i really cant complain. and thats just a general statement about the neighborhood. the waitstaff was so friendly, the decor is a trip here, and they really do have a large menu that has a lot of different options on it - so if you need hangover food or burgers, definately definately come here and give it a shot!

Myself and a good friend just moved down to Memphis recently. We had been telling each other for the longest time we wanted to find that restaurant to be "our spot", like you see in all the sitcoms. We had heard good things about Huey's from both Yelp and friends in the area, but they blew everything out of the water. The Staff: Woah. Just woah. The bar wasn't too busy the night we went and a few different members of the staff came and sat with us and just told us all about the city, the bar, and about themselves. It was such a personal touch that really moved us both. And very quick service. Consider us regulars now. The Food: Best burgers in Memphis. Hands down. No competition. Since going to Huey's we've tried a few other places, no one has yet to come close. The Señor Huey's is a favorite of mine if you like your burger with a little kick. The Atmosphere: Between the toothpicks on the ceiling to the very Memphis decor, this is the place to be if you want to really experience downtown Memphis. I wish there was a 6 star option, because Huey's would get it.

You must bring your own rubber band to propel the toothpicks into the ceiling great. Write on the bathroom walls but stay under control to be fun

not bad burger i expected more, it was not fresh formed like people told me, it definitely was a pre made burger, flavor was good price not too bad just for #1 burger i was expecting more

(4)Bailey P.
This is definitely my favorite Huey's. Though it's downtown, the atmosphere seems more relaxed (the other ones are too noisy in the evening for me). I love Huey's black bean burger. I always get the west coast burger, it's amazing.
(4)Hazim J.
- The search for a post workout meal brought me here. - Had a burger with an egg on it - Good stuff!!! - Cold beer!!! - All good!!!
(4)Steve S.
Great lunch spot - my first visit and would go back again when in Memphis. Great spot to see some March Madness. Really good burger, onion rings were excellent and great service.
(4)Brittney H.
If you're from Memphis, you have eaten at Huey's more than a handful of times. It's a great restaurant for kids and becomes a bar at night! I suggest the burgers, chicken tenders, prime rib sandwich, SALADS, and I LOVE their potato soup! It's amazing!
(5)Alieshia B.

(4)Matthew H.
I wasn't a can of Huey's until tonight!!! The downtown spot is sooo much better than the other one I went to before!!! The burgers were great, onion rings awesome, and need good and cold!!!!
(5)Marcel M.
Greasy burgers. Food service frozen French fries. Disinterested service. Avoid this place.
(2)Eric R.
(3)SK H.
Great burger! Beer & Spirits selection limited, not the greatest place to go watch sporting events (smaller and only a few TVs). However the Burgers were very good, and the bar staff friendly.
(4)Katie W.
Wowzas!! Onion rings are phenomenal, but don't need to order additional sides with your burger! Wait staff was friendly, service was great and it is a wonderful atmosphere! !
(4)Kristen R.
(4)Stan D.
(5)Micah G.
Stopped in here to get a burger. Ordered their classic burger and fries. It was good and their fries were very excellent. They had a good selection of local beers on tap. Great bar area with TV's all over the place. Good service. I would definitely come back here again.
(4)Ian M.
(4)Bridget M.
Hamburger Heaven! I try to make it to Huey's every time I'm in Memphis. My last visit I had the Madison Avenue Burger. It was good but I wish I would have stuck with a classic. A great burger doesn't need all the bells and whistles.
(5)Saul M.
Super service the bartender was awesome. Will definitely recommend to all my friends. Good reuben sandwich but doesn't compare to the service. Bartender comped my food because he said it took to long. I think the service was prompt and servers very attentive. If I come back to memphis, I will patronize sgsin
(5)Emily C.
(4)Jordan S.
(3)Vince G.
After surveying all the nearby beer joints to AutoZone Park. This one is by far the best. Good beer selection, including a lot of local crafts, food bar food, and a great wait and bar staff. Never have seen a bar staff staff this friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed.
(4)Richard T.
This place is good for what it is...an after drinking spot. The fried food, esp the huge onion rings, were amazing. The burgers were ok, but the onion rings alone get 4 stars.
(4)Hannah W.
(4)J S.
(4)Taylor K.
Go!!
(5)Devin H.
(5)Rich R.
(4)Lily B.
Pretty good food! Nothing outstanding but nothing bad either.
(4)Toni J.
Burger was very good. Not the world's best but still very good.
(4)Rebecca S.
Typical American food.. I honestly didnt try the food.. drinks were very reasonably priced, and they have pitchers of beer which is always good news. Fun, laid back environment
(3)Dustin M.
Great choice for a great burger. Probably some of the best onion rings I've ever had. Everything was reasonably priced and the service was great. Will be sure to visit on my next trip back!
(4)Nicole P.
Massive!
(3)Dennis D.
(5)Keven Y.
(5)Robert W.
Gluten free menu available! Made fresh excellent coffee! Service was excellent. I had chili and tamales and it was wonderful! Downtown location is convenient and it is a unique experience.
(4)Dave G.
(4)Dave O.
Sports Bar Food hope you like it fried I can say the service was good lots of kids and rather noisy not exactly what we were looking for but it was okay
(2)David D.
Had this place on my list to visit for five months and went there while in Memphis and had a great burger with cold beer and had a great experience. Definately a place I would be a regular if I lived in Memphis. Thanks!
(5)Caroline F.
(3)Griffin B.
(4)Gary S.
I come to Memphis often and you can always rely on Hueys to get a good meal at a fair price. Sandwiches hamburgers and salad have always satisfied. You cannot go wrong here.
(5)Jessica M.
(4)Barbara T.
Everytime I have gone to Memphis I always make it a point to make Huey's my first stop. I then know I'm officially in Memphis. great burgers and terrific onion rings. Plus they always make you feel at home. Every other hamburger place is second best. I'm getting hungry just thinking of Huey's!
(5)Mandy H.
(4)Divya V.
(4)Bill E.
(4)Rich Cha K.
(2)Carla G.
(4)Kent L.
(4)Mary T.
They rock!
(4)Dolly R.
We live next door to this location. I've ordered 2 times in the last 3 weeks from here. Both were to go orders of two burgers. Both times they gave me the wrong burgers and gave me the wrong sides. I'm hesitant to order again because I'm not confident they'll be able to give me the right order.
(2)Dave M.
(3)Kevin H.
This place has great nachos and burgers. It is also quite entertaining because they give you toothpicks and they allow you to shoot them at the ceiling. Fun times!. Would recommend this place to others and would go again!
(4)Y V.
(3)Juan C.
(3)Peter S.
(3)Nick B.
(1)James T.
Slow service.... crappy internet radio with stupid commercials. No food after 1am... at all. Very under staffed. Will never come back.
(1)Orack B.

(4)Kontji A.
Best veggie burger in town! Huey's Midtown never lets you down. Welcoming staff, great food, easygoing atmosphere. On Sundays, they usually have bands.
(4)Brynna B.
I love and miss Huey's! It's super divey, but I love that aspect of it, it seems more authentic than hipstery. The burgers and fries are great - I think its the copious amounts of mayo they use.
(4)Steve H.
Enjoy!
(5)Sean B.

(5)Chain B.
Went to this Huey's as a backup after another place I planned to go to was unexpectedly closed. I tried their version of a Cuban sandwich, which was quite good.
(4)Heather J.
(4)Chris P.
Best part? SHOOTING TOOTHPICKS INTO THE CEILING. Food is pretty delicious, but really - the toothpick thing. You might need some makeshift wadding to get a good seal in the straw, then - POW - shoot that sucker straight up.
(3)Jared P.
Wow, the burgers here are great! I think I got the Huey burger and my girlfriend got the wrap and I ate almost both!

(4)Joe D.
I enjoyed the eclectic atmosphere, but the burger I had here was just good, not great.
(3)Erica B.

Yuck.
(1)Ken R.
(3)Julie H.

(4)Kira B.
Turkey burger was one of the best ever!
(4)Kirkwood J.
Pretty average burger.
(3)Paul K.

The end.
(2)Ingrid C.
(3)Paul M.
Between the scenery, music and food, Hueys is a great place to get a taste of Memphis.

(3)Sam P.
(3)Shannon R.
Very delicious burgers.

(4)Tanya T.

(3)Tom T.
(4)Erik M.

(5)Ace C.
(3)joey d.
I was expecting super touristy food that was the same ol' junk they serve everywhere but the food here was actually really good. The onion rings and straws were Yummy! Not too crowded and you can spit cocktail toothpicks through a straw at the ceiling. That's pretty awesome.
(4)Andrew L.
Good food. Fun, tasty burgers. Plenty of good beers to wash the food down with. A nice eclectic, friendly atmosphere. All in all a place that I would definitely come back to.
(5)Andrea H.
This place seemed to be the only place in downtown Memphis that had veggie burgers. We enjoyed the ambiance, and our food was very good. I think they smoke the veggie burgers (which are made from scratch)!!!! We also ate the fried mushrooms, which were definitely made from scratch!
(4)Otis M.
It was okay, nothing special. Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon when restaurant availability is limited downtown. Bar food, lots of traffic but our food was not memorable.
(3)Amy M.
I don't know if this review is credible, considering we were pretty intoxicated from a day and night out on Beale street when we ate here, but i thought it was very good. I would definitely recommend giving it a try. I had the smokey something..smokehouse burger? Idk but it was tasty.
(4)James B.
We recently had great service and food before catching a play at the orpheum. We had time constraints, and the management and staff were able to accommodate us. Great burgers and great job!
(5)Deen W.
Cristina's right - Huey's is just plain GOOD. And even tho it's summer, I have to point out that they have awesome potato soup as well. Wait a couple of months and then try it.....and you will be thanking me.
(4)Brent D.
Hueys is a memphis legend... eclectic atmosphere is not forced.. its HUEYS... Go get a senior huey and fries....
(4)Harold S.
Hamburger joint with great onion rings. The service was a bit off and the food will take a while to arrive. Bring a newspaper or someone you have a lot of catching up to do with. It will help pass the time.
(3)Joshua M.
(3)Jacob S.
(4)Steve B.
Place is awesome! Food is good, mixed drinks are no joke! No scimping on the alcohol that is for sure.
(5)Ryan K.
(4)Matthew D.
(4)Amber M.
(4)Josefin F.
Fabulous sliders. A little to hard on the AC, really freezing inside but otherwise nice place.
(4)Rob A.
(4)Kara H.
(4)Value S.
(5)Brandon J.
Most affordable grub downtown Memphis. Food and atmosphere are great. Finally found the Ghost River Midnight Magic brew here . Make sure to save room for the rock slide desert.
(5)Melissa M.
(5)Mike S.
Five stars. Yeah. Loved this place. Cheeseburgers were awesome lemon ice box pie was great. Service very friendly and the ambiance was very fun. This was the third place we had cheeseburgers at in Memphis and by far the best.
(5)Tara I.
Great place to eat!! Best club sandwich I have ever had. Friendly staff and fun, welcoming atmosphere
(5)Amanda D.
(4)Alyssa L.
(3)Alban J.
Very nice dinner. Large choice of burgers, very affordable. The western burger is great. Their sweet potatoes waffles fries are delicious. Desserts are good too. Lemon pie is ok. Decor is very nice with writings all over the walls.
(4)Brigitte M.
Worst Cobb salad and blue cheese dressing. Food did come quick. We had 3 different people come to our table to wait on us then no one to be found once food was delivered. No napkins on table with two kids under 6. Surely there is better food in downtown Memphis. Where?
(2)Katie S.
I had the Steak sandwhich, my friend had the Shrimp Po'boy in buffaloe style. Both sandwiches were fantastic. The fries were okay, not bad. Our drinks and server we're fantastic. Would definitely go back on a return trip to Memphis!
(4)Andrea M.
These guys took care of me...u had a soar throat and they said a fireball was the way to go...guess what? It might be temporary but I got my voice back!
(4)Lisa A.

I love this place. I can eat the apple BBQ wings 3 times a week. The staff is great I must try other items on the menu but I got to get pass the wings.

DANEEN managed to split the bill perfectly and everything came out exactly as we ordered! DANEEN was well-versed in the beer selections and MADE THE EXPERIENCE SO GOOD.

Good food, fast service will visit again. Unique experience, I mean where else do they allow you to shoot toothpicks in to the ceiling!

Good burger. Was taken to this place by a friend of mine and will come back to try more things. Also it's fun to shoot the toothpicks into the ceiling.
