Alright, lets start this game. This kid grew up in the midwest, had a sports playing father whose teams were constantly sponsored by the local bars. What does a kid eat at bars? Cheese sticks and pizza. You know bar pizza. Pre-bought crust thats crunchy hard cardboard like, the toppings slide off if you tip the crust sideways, the edges are burnt because its one underage kid or the owners brother-in-law running the kitchen by himself and cant track all the orders so things get a hair overcooked. You've been there. Don't lie. "Best Pizza in Town" is a bit braggadocios. You don't say that unless you believe it. Or someone who fancies themselves a good marketer and designer because they have PowerPoint and WordArt on their PeeCee. Thats about how this pizza is. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. It passes. About as much as that "Gourmet Pizza Bros." at the gas station does. In a town of foodies here in the mid-south, this is not meant as a snob turning his nose at local fare, this pizza is only so-so. Theres no depth of flavor, its all one note and the pepperoni stands out because pepperoni always stands out due to it being pepperoni on its own, not something a pizza joint does to the flavor. Thats it. Theres several other pizza spots in town that develop some flavor profiles, make sure the toppings stay on and , for the love of good pizza, the crust is nice. Exlines may have some local swagger going on, but I know brother-in-law needs a job pizza when I taste it.

I have been by this place hundreds of times. My fiance suggested this place tonight. I am so glad we went. The pizza is really good. We ordered half hamburger and half peperoni. It was so good. The service was outstanding. We will certainly be back.

The place had hardly anyone in it at 1pm and I still waited half an hour to get a six inch pizza.... I went because it said it was the best pizza in town on the side of the building... Now I'm wondering what town. The pizza was supposedly "special" (it had BBQ sauce but I could barely taste it because it was almost burnt). I was scolded by the server that all pizza's take 25 minutes to prepare (even tiny 6 inch ones?? then why was it almost burnt? it was like a eating a pizza with a cracker for the dough). Oh well... it seems like they just need more help.

Excellent. This is my primary pizza place now. I ordered their "Special" with 3 meats and BBQ, mushrooms, green peppers, onions on 12". It is the 'Best in Memphis." The crust was crispy and the whole thing was cooked perfect and evenly. I like the way they sliced it, too.... into 2" pieces which were easy to handle. The Amber Bock on tap for $ 2.50 / mug was good, too.

The service was great! My pizza was cooked quickly, and the sauce and crust were delicious. They use John Morrell ham. The high quality ingredients make a difference!

Exline's is the Picasso of pizzerias. With a Picasso, you can look at it a thousand different times, and have a thousand distinct reactions. The same can be said about Exline's. Sometimes, you eat it, and its a masterpiece. Other times you eat it, and you want to cut off your own ear. Or was that Van Gogh? Confusing analogy aside, Exline's is not a restaurant that will appeal to everyone (much like Picasso). This particular review is for the location on Kirby, right before Quince. First, the restaurant is immaculate. I've never seen any dust or dirt in here...then again, I've never seen any people in here, either. Seriously. I've been to two separate locations at least 5 separate times and have only seen two other customers. With that little patronage, I have no idea how this place stays open. Maybe its a front for a drug cartel? (If i disappear, you know I'm right!) It would make sense if it was a front, though because I crave this pizza sometimes. Like full-on, itchy crack-fiend, ashy-lipped, Tyrone Biggums (from Chapelle's Show) craving. Allow me to caveat this craving, though. The pizza is not typically what i would consider "good". Being a Yankee from New York, i like to think i know great pizza. Exline's falls woefully short of that benchmark. Imagine those cheap pizzas you can get in any grocery store. You know, the ones you used to eat standing in front of the microwave in your draws with the cheese burning the roof of your mouth after you came home from the bar at 3 in the morning? They took those recipes, enlarged them, threw on some extra toppings, and cut it into squares just to be different. At Exline's they do party pizzas. And, THAT, they do well.

I ate pizza at this location once and it was so bad I never went back. Just recently, I found out they had the fried chicken salad. The first visit, the salad was loaded and very good. The second visit, I requested no cheese and ordered a garlic loaf as a carry out. The salad was loaded with cheese and was missing all of the ingredients included on the first salad and the garlic loaf had no garlic on it. On my third, and it will be my final visit, I ordered a carry out salad and it only has the salad, tomatoes and chicken. I checked the bread before I left and sent it back because there was no garlic. When they brought it out to me I foolishly didn't check it and guess what, no garlic and the bread was not split so no butter either.

I really do not get it. People here rave about how good the pizza is here and the pizza is disgusting. Aside from the taste, I stopped eating there after finding hair in my pizza. It happened twice. Nuff said.

What I like about this place is that you can get 6" pizzas. Although cold pizza is god's gift, sometimes the personal is all that one needs. I picked up three for some kiddos in my care, plain cheese, 'NO SAUSAGE! OMG NO SAUSAGE!', and they scarfed them down. The great thing is that they carry nachos and hot wings too. This is a good place to pick up eats for a Super Bowl Party. They also offer some additional toppings that more mainstream pizza places don't, like shrimp and broccoli, which I happen to love. This location is smaller, but there is some seating if you want to eat in-house.

Rating the Kirby location as such due to POOR customer service. I went in around 4:45 pm cst to order a 6 in Around the World to get the luncheon price. An African American young lady took my order and I went ahead and paid cash and waited for the order to be cooked. She informed me it would take 15-20 mins. I sat at the bar and waited. While waiting I looked at the news and checked emails. I noticed I was sitting at the bar for some time now and no order. The young lady who took my order said nothing to me. I didn't see her checking to see if my order was ready either. So I asked an African American gentleman wearing glasses behind the bar who looked to be a manager if he can check on my order because it should definitely be ready. That it was a personal size Around the World. He went back to the kitchen (which you can see from sitting at the bar) and looked in the ovens. He didn't see my pizza. Then he looked at the order slips. Obviously he didn't see my pizza order there. Then he looked a couple more places and spoke to the cook. Then he came back to the bar area and said to me "I am sorry but we are going to have to cook your pizza again because they fixed you a large pizza instead of a personal pizza." WRONG ANSWER!!! At this point I was pissed and perturbed. I then told him to refund me my money because there was NO way I was going to wait another 25+ minutes for the correct pizza to be prepared for me. What he should have told me was something to the effect "I am sorry but it appears we mixed your order up and prepared you a large pizza. For your inconvenience we will go ahead and give you the large pizza at no extra cost to you. Enjoy!" This man had NO clue how to respond to this customer service disaster. And he can forget me EVER PATRONIZING this location AGAIN. My time is valuable and they penalized me as the customer for a mistake THEY made! Terrible experience.

Admittedly, I've steered clear of this local chain because of the name. My bad. Wifey and I are pizza snobs. She went to college in Western NY and I firmly believe that few can make a decent pizza outside of the boroughs of NYC. The pizza is good, not great. Fresh ingredients, piled with real cheese, thick slices of mushroom and tasty pepperoni. I don't care for how they cut it up in squares. A bit inconsistent. Depends on who's in the kitchen.

So I just had some tamales at my Auntie's, and when I asked where they came from, my cousin said Exline's. I've been visiting Memphis for more than 30 years, and I always gotta get tamales when I visit. These are the best I've had--or maybe it's just been a long time since I've had any. Anyway-I'm giving four stars cause I can only speak about the tamales. The pizza looked really good though. the next time i'm in Memphis, this will be my second stop (Uncle Lou's is the first).

Pizza, just plain damn fine pizza. Really good. You can drive in, order it, and then sit at the bar and have a beer while you're waiting for it. Excellent Pizza, if I didn't say so already.

Nice friendly staff! Good pizza! I really like the breaded okra. The wait time isn't bad most times.

Ask for wings "dipped" in hot sauce with blue cheese. They looked at me like I was crazy, but this is basically "hot wings" or "buffalo wings". Honestly best wings I've had in years. Pizza is solid. Staff is super friendly.
