This was the single oddest dining experience of my adult life folks. We stumbled upon this little gem in a strip mall after a much needed trip to Target. The oddity started as soon as we walked through the doors. There was a group of men standing at the hostess podium, whom we thought must be none other than the hosts. They looked us up and down and shouted "2!" at us repeatedly, obviously there were 2 of us. In fact, we both did a double take looking behind to see if another couple had happened to walk in also. Nope. We were seated and waited for a good 15 minutes before we saw anything in the way of a waiter/waitress. We flagged down the gentleman that sat us, and he looked surprised and said "You order ready now?" Okay, so those men at the podium were actually waiters...good times. I ended up ordering chicken enchiladas and my husband ordered a steak burrito. Our drinks came out (diet cokes) and mine randomly had a lemon wedge on the side, while his did not. Whatever right? About 20 minutes later the waiter brought us out some refills, my husband's again sans lemon wedge, mine this time with a lime wedge. This waiter beamed at me like a kindergartner with a hand made painting. He just kept staring and grinning from ear to ear. So I smiled politely back and he nodded and pointed to the lime wedge. So, I smiled again and thanked him. He left. So very weird. Our entrees finally came out, my husband's burrito was covered with a mound of lettuce as big as a small human baby. Underneath all that lettuce, was a burrito a tad bit bigger than the size of a taco. Inside said burrito, was beans and steak. That's it. No cheese- nothing. My enchiladas? Well, I took a bite and realized there were french fries piled in the confines of my tortilla shell. In case you didn't catch that, I'll say it again. French. Fries. Who the hell puts french fires in an enchilada? This whole experience from start to finish was like an episode of the Twilight Zone, and the food was really quite bad. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

Please see the below bullet points about this great restaurant. 1. We always get 1 of 2 of the same servers. 2. Food is always accurate and precise. 3. Customer service is A1 4. Attention to detail is top notch 5. Not only do I eat here for dinner with my wife often I also take a client there that comes to visit every 2 weeks. 6. The atmosphere is perfect for family, friends, or business and the staff well they are awesome and attentive.

Ayyyeeee. Went here for lunch with a friend on a weekday, though I suggested Happy Mexican. Our waitress was nice, but didn't seem super genuine and kind of just immediately asked our drinks... no "Hi, how are you?" ... nothing. Which always kind of annoys me in general. The salsa tasted like marinara sauce, and I ordered a bowl of chicken soup and the chicken it had in it was BAD. Like, bad. As in I couldn't even EAT most of the chicken because it was so overcooked I literally couldn't chew it. What?! I've just totally had better. The line to check out (at a sit down restaurant?) was long and clogging up the front door area and spilling over into the dining room which was pretty distracting as well. They need to get a better plan. Mexican food is everywhere, so I feel like if you are going to do it, you have to put some effort and love into it to stand out. Sorry guys.

Worst Mexican Food I've ever had. I ordered the Three Enchiladas Verde and Cerviche. The enchiladas was bland. It was heavily doused in sour cream. The Cerviche was just a bunch of fish and veggies thrown together. Service was slow and rude.

This is my favorite Mexican place in town. The staff is friendly. The food is great. They have a patio. Win, win, win. I have had one terrible experience with a server, but I didn't see her again after that one occasion, so I assume the boss caught on quickly! Their pork tacos are fantastic. Be gentle with the hot sauce they serve with it. It IS hotter than you think! The Molcajete is awesome. If you are a fajita fan, give this a shot. Get the standard, not the version with the cactus and share it! It's big. Another favorite is the chicken soup. It is so very fresh tasting and savory! One disappointing point is that they consider Texas style margaritas to be the house with an extra shot. I can forgive them this one thing, although I was quite disappointed.

Haven't eaten the food, but ye shall be punished on Yelp for the crappy service. So you make your Margaritas STRONG? But you warn me (or my VIP guest) first. I'll let that slide. But you bring a Margarita glass UNSALTED and cope an attitude when asked? So I didn't know that "some guests don't like salt, so we just bring it out that way"; you could at least warn or ask. I would've walked if I wasn't that hungry. And where's my waitress? Texting while someone else brings the food. Seems the salt saved on the Margarita was poured on the Tortilla Soup with hard as Rock overlooked chicken. "Everything good?" She asked. When I said "NO", chickey runs away instead. Next time I'm going elsewhere.

The Hacks Cross location was a perfect stop as we just moved to town and were not thrilled with another place up the road. The food is good; the guacamole has lots of avocado (as it should in my opinion, not just a tiny bit to differentiate from pico de gallo), and the drinks are delicious. The staff we've been served by both times have been friendly and fun, definitely a pleasure to be around.

Consistently great Mexican food. I think several of the reviews here are for alternate locations (which I have tried and found lacking). This location on Hacks just south of Winchester is my favorite Mexican food in the area. Between the Mocajete and the Carne Asada Tacos, I've yet to have more flavorful chow of this variety anywhere in town. The patio is great and easy to get seating. The staff can be hit or miss. The salsa gets 4 of 5 stars. Good but not great. Chips are standard thin crispy style. The Margaritas are fantastic. Great flavor mix without too much high-fructose corn syrupy mess like you find in other places. I highly suggest the Mocajete (standard, not mexican version) with a side of extra Pico de Gallo.

This Casa was much better this time, but they are definitely not my favorite location. Service has been slow (I've only been twice) and the food was just okay.

I have been here twice. It's a pretty standard fare Mexican restaurant. They had long islands on sale for $3 on Friday. I'm not sure when that special is or if that is standard. It really reminded me more of a margarita than a long island. It was good and cheap. I like the chips. They are the extra thin kind. I had a cheese dip, which was typical, but very good. The previous time I went I had something that was delish! I had some type of molcajete. It was basically a ton of grilled meat. There are several options. That is definitely my recommendation. Without that item, I would give this place 3 stars, but that pushed it over to 4!

Extensive menu for excellent prices and excellent margaritas! When they get busy, service isn't as good, but still my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area!

First visit here and it was a good first impression. Large variety of choices on the menu and quick service. The shredded beef was very flavorful but the chicken was not as good. They brought my girlfriend the wrong item, but we're happy to fix it and had the correct order out in about a minute. Very affordable, as well; most dinner orders were in the $8-10 range. Will definitely come back again!

Pretty solid. Went for lunch and food was good. Started off slow. Apparently the hostess was a no show which left us wondering if we ever get a table. But once seated the wait staff made up for it.

Nice atmosphere. After reading mixed reviews about the place I was curious. It was fine; standard fare Mexican restaurant. Waiter was pleasant and helpful in suggesting a menu item since I was hungry. Came out fast and hot; portion was plentiful. Taste was fine, as expected. So - it was "good" ... I was expecting a bad experience but it was fine. Will return.

This place is just up the road from our apartment, and we come here often enough. While the food is nothing to write home about, it is some of the better mexican food in the area. Angel is a great server, and the Margaritas are pretty spot on.

Today was my first visit and when I walked in the three servers didn't acknowledge my presence so I went to the bar. I sat there for five minutes before a bartender even showed up! I ordered my drink, ate my food, ordered another drink then a shot and left. I was pleased with the tab since I was drinking some bomb tequila though!

Food is consistently good each time. Wait staff is nearly always friendly. Love that their corn chips are thin.

Food was good, complimentary salsa and chips were just ok. Drinks is anther story , my margarita was very strong.

I found the taste of the food great, but feel the chain needs to train their personal on interpersonal communications skills. Maybe, it's simply a cultural thing. They could learn to small talk, smile, and show some appreciation. Otherwise, their business will never be successful.

I was not that impressed. The food was not very good, but the chips and salsa were really good.

One of my favorite Mexican places in town. Food is consistently good, chips are light and crispy. Salsa is fairly good, not super chunky (I like noticeable onions and cilantro) but its tasty. It's the same type of Mexican food as El Porton and El Mezcal, only much better (especially compared to E Porton). I love their refried beans and they give you a ton. Chicken nachos are VERY good. Very friendly service (loads of improvement from the past).

Hands down, their margarita's are the best that I've experienced at any Mexican restaurant and I've been to quite a few Mexican restaurants. The alcohol doesn't overpower the flavor at all and for a moment I thought the bartender skipped out on my alcohol but when I was about halfway through my drink I started to feel the alcohol working its magic. I don't know what kind of alcohol they use in their margaritas but whatever it is, it's very smooth and undetectable until you start to feel the alcohol working. The downside is that you can never get a Pomegranate flavor margarita because they always say that they're out of it whenever I've asked for it, no matter what time of day or night it was; they may as well remove it from the menu because it's not one of the flavors that they actually offer. Their chips and salsa were very good and I could tell that they make their chips themselves which was very good. Their food is not bad but it's not that good either simply because it doesn't have enough flavor. I like authentic Mexican food but perhaps this was just a little bit too authentic. I like my food to burst with flavor and their food just bursts with blandness. If you ever just want a good margarita to go with good chips and salsa, this is the place to go.

I probably won't go here again. The service wasn't so great, but I know that really depends on who you get, so I'm not really docking points for that. The chips were really good, so that's why I gave it 2 stars. They have vegetarian entrees, but they don't offer black beans and their re-fried beans are cooked in butter. Their fajitas were also fried in butter..so drenched I couldn't even taste the veggies. The guacamole tasted like it came out of one of those containers you buy pre-made at the store. I guess it just depends on what you like. I'm more into good quality - fresh Mexican food, so this place just wasn't for me.

This is the best "american" Mexican place in Germantown. I honestly think all of the El Portons in town had to ramp up their quality because of this place. Go there often enough, like I do, and they treat you like family. The chips are the best...light, crispy, and fresh. The service sets this place over the top in my book....good bar with lots of TVs and if you are into futbol...you'll usually find it on here!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
