Not as great this time around. Iced tea was good, as were the eggs, melon, and oatmeal. But the chicken soup was terrible. I regret ordering a full bowl. Update: Ok, so maybe my last review of the chicken soup was a bit harsh. Which is not to say it was good... But in a city with so few decent breakfast places, Cafe Eclectic is certainly a force for good.

Great coffee and wonderful customer service. It also is super clean and seems like a fabulous place to work from or to host a team meeting. The only downside is parking. I spent longer looking for parking than I did grabbing coffee. This location clearly caters to local pedestrian traffic. If you're in a hurry this may not be a great choice, but if you have some time or are on foot - check them out!!

Coffee: Above average Blueberry Doughnut: AMAZING Internet: Pretty good Service: Great! Friendly and attentive. Gave me water without even asking! Would definitely return next time in Memphis.

This is my second time here today, the first was for a quick coffee/food run for my husband and I a couple days ago, and this second time is to have a sit down, get some emails done and have long stints of refilled coffee and possibly, but not limited to, an epic cake donut. This is the first time I've been to a coffee shop where the wait service actually works. They'll come up and refill your coffee for you, and I was pleasantly surprised that when I got up to order a donut, the guy working said "don't worry I can bring it to your seat, you don't have to wait in line - we'll cash you out before you leave." DANG I MISSED THE SOUTH! I got the spinach & egg (minus feta) english muffin, which to my surprise was on an actual home made (?) english muffin, not a store bought one. The sandwich was super fresh. The coffee is a perfect brew, and I think I'm on my third cup. Usually I don't write reviews while I am at the establishment, but I'm having a great time here and had to express to everyone how great this place was before I went sans wifi again/forgot. The staff here are so awesome and don't make me feel rushed/unwanted for sitting here on my laptop and getting some work done. I even got a facetime call in without it seeming uncomfortable/too loud. I just moved to the area so I ask a lot of questions, and they answer it without any weird hesitation no matter how strange my questions are (IE: can i park across the street, "yeah totally," can I take up a whole table with my laptop? "oh course!" and so on.) Hopefully they are as nice as they seem, because they'll be seeing a lot more of me here.

This is a very convenient location because it is really close to the U of M campus. The people that work here are incredibly friendly and so are the owners. Love the little terrariums they have on the tables! The space is large enough and it doesn't feel very crammed. Their beverages are always on point. Food has been a hit or miss for me. Sometimes it's delicious and perfect, and sometimes it's cold and flavorless. I've been both pleasantly surprised and morbidly disappointed with what I've ordered here. The main reason why I avoid eating at this place is because the kitchen is in the same space as the restaurant itself, and when I eat there, I end up smelling from head to toe like their food. I hate smelling like food. I especially hate it when my hair completely soaks up the smell and then I have to put up with it all day. Other than that, I usually pop in when I'm in a hurry to get food or coffee to go. It's not bad, but not great.

This location has such nice staff! My family and I ate ate this location tonight and really enjoyed everything. There was plenty of seating, high chairs were easily available for my nephew, it was clean and had ample seating, and best of all, the food was fantastic! When there was a little snafu with our order time, the staff gave us free pastries with our meal and were so incredibly nice. We normally visit the location on N. McLean Blvd, but after visiting the Highland location, I'd recommend both equally now. Their service is wonderful and I love that they offer a nice variety of food and drinks on their menu. If you do visit this location, you can park at a nearby church, near Trilogy Tattoos, or across the street near Lenny's. (Parking is a little tricky, but it's worth the short walk!)

Alright, so I haven't had any coffee. So that may be wonderful, but I don't know. I have had a tofu wrap and the hummus platter. Meh. The tofu wrap was just ok, but I'm not a fan of paying for things that I feel like I could do just as well at home. The not a big fan of their hummus either. It kinda tasted like there was sour-cream in there (maybe there was, if so then oops I'm a bad vegan). Vegan or not, it was a weird flavor. Also, kind of saddens me that there weren't any vegan ice-cream options, because all of their cutesy little treats sounded like fun. Maybe people who aren't vegan will enjoy the food more. If I ever grab a coffee here, I'll update. But that seems unlikely since special milks are an extra dollar.

I'm a fan, y'all. I'm a fan. I'm absolutely in love with this location...and super excited that they are literally down the street from my house. The food is fresh and delicious and I couldn't get over how nice the staff was...especially with their recommendations about the menu. They have wifi and it is a perfect "office." Their chai latte is absolutely beautiful and pastries are so yummy! I can't wait to go through all of their breakfast sandwiches...

It was okay, not as good as the one on McLean. The menu at the midtown location has more options and has more of a family feel. My boyfriend got sick off the funky salmon at the highland location, although he has been eating it for years at the midtown location.

First off I loved the set up of the cafe. I was so in love with the decor and massive chalkboard wall. I really wanted to sit in the purple chairs but just sat in the booth instead. I got up to menu hanging up, I saw the different food options and the pastries. There was a floor sign that stated they had chicken and waffles. Since it was about 1 and I didn't eat breakfast, I wanted to have lunch and breakfast. The cashier had to go check to see if the cook could cook it...she said no (major bummer, but glad). Then I asked if she could just make the waffle ( cashier had to check again) she said yes. I also ordered a salted caramel mocha (my fav). My bestie is in town from Chicago, she order tea and a BLT. Once we got our table...we waited about 5 minutes and my waffle came out. A few minutes later my coffee came out. Then a few more minutes my friends food came out. The waited wasn't as long as it seemed in the wording. My friend loved her BLT and tea. I loved my coffee but I wasn't pleased at all with the waffle. It was undercooked in the center. Weirdly it has the taste of a Cheeze-It (weird, yes I know) but I ate it anyway because I paid for it! The atmosphere was simply outstanding. I love coffee and I can say they are better than Starbucks. I told my friend that they make Starbucks look like the McDonalds of coffee. Next time I will try one of the salads or sandwiches, because they did look good!

Went for lunch on a Sunday. Very disappointing food. Overpriced as well. I had the tofu wrap and it was probably the worst tofu I've ever had. Girlfriend had the grilled chicken salad and said it was mediocre at best. The coffee and brownies were average.

It was really cleared out when I went yesterday to do some work, so I got special attention. Their balsamic vinaigrette is whipped (awesome). Places to plug in your computer....

I love everything about this place. I could eat here every single day. If you're going for breakfast, you MUST get the lox and bagel. It's to die for. Also order a Cream Brulatte. It's life changing, I promise. My husband had the bacon waffle with a side of sausage patties. They have a great lunch and dinner menu, too!

i like this cafe eclectic ALOT more than the other ones mostly due to space, lighting, and younger-feel (due to it being around the U of M campus). They have these massive windows that allow for tons of natural light to float into the cafe for better reading and instagram pics. :P i love the succulents that they have placed around the area, it adds a nice touch to it! they have outdoor seating and indoor booth seating as well as these study couches with a coffee table in between. The food is standard and the drinks are great. I would highly recommend this travelling a little further down just a few min to check it out if you're a frequent cafe going or eclectic lover. When we go for BroJs and the wait is long, we like to walk over here to chill and have some coffee/waste time before our names are called up to eat!

I stop by this place near the University of Memphis for coffee and food sometimes. Have always found it clean, friendly, and convenient. Parking is a problem, though. There is only nearby street parking which is often full.

Cappuccino was outstanding, the bacon waffle was really good and the breakfast burrito was ok. Enjoyed the seating outside.

Cafe eclectic is very quaint and cozy. The food was pretty good, their customer service was great. The breakfast food was better than the lunch items. I tried two of their soups and there weren't the best. When I think of a coffee shop the soups should be the best, as you sip your coffee and study.

I gave this place a shot and was really impressed with the coffee and treats. I loved the decor. What would you call it? Hmm...earthy mod? Woodsy shag pad? The staff was really eager to please. We all got exactly what we wanted. They don't have a full kitchen like the original, because of building restrictions, BUT don't be dismayed. There's plenty on the menu.

The things I like -- Location is perfect. It is located in the rental space below my old apartment complex, The Stratum at the corner of Myders and Highland. This is a great place for students to run to get some food, and is away from the standard fare of the Highland Strip. They offer vegetarian, gluten free, and a good variety of cuisine. The things I do not like -- Pricing is high. It is higher than what I remember it to be. The tacky part that really hit me was that on the menu -- each menu -- that the 4 of us had had the prices marked through and increased. It is tacky! If you are going to bump up the prices of the food, could you at least use that money to print out some new menus instead of handwriting in the new prices? I understand if you want to make price increases, but don't be tacky and cheap. How do you get away with charging $10 for a sandwich on the University of Memphis campus? (This is not affiliated with the U of M...) Students are broke and can't support that habit unless mama has a joint bank account with them. Now that rant is over... I loved my smoked salmon biscuit. It tasted like a larger portion of sushi. It comes with tomato and cream cheese on it. I liked it and it tasted great. It is small though and will cost you nearly $6 for it. Either way, quality was there and you get what you pay for. When Cafe Eclectic first opened in Snowden, I was obsessed with it and appreciated it a lot more than what I do now. I can't say I am as big of a fan now since they seem to be milking the industry. I just don't like those kinds of places.

  • Hannah G.

I do not like this location. The parking sucks, the menu is smaller and it's lacking one of the main things that I come to Eclectic for: Chicken and Waffles. I do love a lot of their other items, and their Chai Latte is one of the best I've ever had. So if you're not searching for Chicken and Waffles, this location is just fine.

All style, no substance. Beautiful outside & interesting interior but the food is horrible. At best the yogurt they rave about is bland and the catie wrap is just below what you would get at a fast food choke and puke. My recommendation is come for the coffee only and the great vibe. Better yet, go to Brother Junipers around the corner.

I really could be addicted to coffee, not just any coffee though, decorative coffee... It just amazes me how they can make coffee so incredibly beautiful! I will be a frequent goer at this location because I start Graduate school in September and will need a quiet place to study/work. This location has only been open five days, and almost everything on their menu is available now. I love that most everything served is locally grown or made. Going in today I chose to sit at the bar since there was nobody there. I really enjoyed watching the staff make the food and the coffee. The staff at this location was so amazing. They asked multiple times how everything was and made many suggestions on what was the best thing to order. I ordered the Cinnful Jim and agreed for the waitress to make it the way she liked it, which was absolutely delicious! I also ordered the Bagel & Lox... I have always wanted to try this, but this was my first time to be brave enough. I will literally probably never eat anything else for breakfast when I go out. It's such a refreshing dish. I think this location is going to take off and be very successful. It has a great location and the U of M students need to take full advantage of this place! I can't wait to spend my grad school days here and see what the future holds for this location!

Oh... sad me... I wanted this place to be so much better than it was. The decor is lovely, people are quite friendly, service was better than average, and the place is very, very clean. Parking is a bit of a struggle, but I can't blame the establishment for that. My cafe au lait was delicious, as was the house made pumpkin donut. The downside, alas, was the rest of the food. My mother ordered the pear and Brie "panini" (which is a panino, dammit, because you only get one of them and "panini" is plural) which we both expected would have spent at least a little time in the panini press, but didn't appear to. The brie, while good quality, really would have been better had it been melted. The bread-to-filling ratio was also very off; Mom took the top piece off and set it aside so she could actually taste the inner bits. I got the salmon and cream cheese on an English muffin and it, too, was cold. I mean, sure, the fish is supposed to be, but who serves a sandwich on a muffin and doesn't toast the bread? It made for one cold, squishy sandwich. Wouldn't go back, at least not to this location.

I used to work right around the corner and definitely became a regular at this location. Everyone on staff is friendly & helpful. I've never had a bad item here. My favorites are the Star & Micey on ice, cinnamon rolls and the bagel & lox. Mmmm!!

This was our first visit. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. We had the Catie Wrap and Bagel with Lox and both were excellent. They also have a great selection of tea as well as coffee. Grab a pastry before you leave too!

Like going to a cafe in Europe! Great vibe, awesome coffee and food! Amazing strawberry butter, nice that you can order croissants and other pastries with your coffee. Too many places only seem to have sweet pastries but they have savory pastries and a ton of other options. Staff is incredibly friendly, restaurant is always clean, and both locations I've been to (Highland and McLean) are great for meetings, a cup of coffee and a book, or just some good, quality, illy coffee. The one on Highland is a little harder to park at, but it's so nice it's worth the hassle.

Just moved to this area so i wanted ro scope out potential "home" spots. Love the pet friendly vibe and outdoor seating. Nice inside. I love you can get the whole menu all day. Also, fun fact, ya can byob! Insta brunch! Only downside is they can't do just egg whites , bummer

The Chicken and Waffles are really good! Buttermilk waffles and the Chicken was seasoned to perfection!

  • Lauren B.

I love all of their paninis and coffee drinks. If you want something sweeter go for the mocha, or for a bit of spice get a Mayan cappuccino filled with cayenne pepper. The only problem I've ever had here is that sometimes it takes forever to get your food. Also, parking is kind of difficult if it's a busy day because they don't have their own parking lot. I recommend parking across Highland in the Lenny's /Ubees parking lot.

One of the best places in Memphis to get a Lox sandwich. Plus their onions are so addictive.

I've been going to the midtown location for a few years now and unfortunately moved out of midtown and live within walking distance from this location. So I finally decided to give this one a shot. I will admit that it is a pretty cool spot to go if I were in the mood to study and have a gourmet coffee, but definitely not for food. It was slightly my fault for not checking out the menu online, but I thought "same name, same menu, same quality right?" Not so much. I am a big foodie and a little hard to impress, but I felt as if the food was straight off the Sysco truck. I wish the owner would've named the place something different because I was expecting the awesome quality food from the kitchen in Midtown opposed to the microwave and/or Subway style toaster food at this coffee shop. Would I go go back? Yes... for coffee.

This was AMAZING. I was psyched to find they had green tea, since I was really craving some. I ordered the Stuffed Frenchie--French toast stuffed with Nutella and strawberries (or you can get bananas), and topped with powdered sugar, with maple syrup on the side. I (quite unwillingly) shared with my husband, and we finished every last bite. He got the Catie Wrap (hard boiled eggs, avocado, peppers, caramelized onions, bacon, tomato, and white cheddar in a tortilla). It was very good too--(I had to make him share since he got some of mine). We ate every bit of food and are already talking about going back for lunch. Best meal I've had on my Memphis trip!

I dig this newer location of Cafe Eclectic! Some staff from Midtown transferred over, so it's great to see familiar faces. Food is good, as usual. Coffee is divine (satisfy your sweet tooth with a Creme Brulatte). Furniture + decor is more modern + trendier than Midtown location. One complaint: as with the downtown location, this location doesn't seem to have a working vent. The air was a little smoky and slightly irritating to my eyes. No problems otherwise. Internet is blazing fast, too.

Service was horrible. They didn't have a system. Couldn't tell who our server was...or if we even had one. We had to ask for our drinks, food was sitting there a while before it got to us, and I had to ask to warm my food up. I definitely prefer the one on McLean over this one,

On a recent visit to Memphis we decided to check out Cafe Eclectic for brunch and I am glad we did. The baked good and the coffee was good. The atmosphere was nice as well, but by far and away the winner was the chicken and waffles. I am a big fan and this was the best Chicken and Waffles that have ever had. Get you some.

Love: the seating. They have a row of large booths along the window - great for groups or spreading out to work/study. There are some comfy chairs scattered throughout as well. I came on a Saturday night and there were only 4 or 5 other people in the place, so it was quiet and clean. Like: the food, yummy though it is a little overpriced IMO. I had a BLT-A (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Avocado) sandwich with a cup of fruit and an ice tea - $14.22. Dislike: the internet. I'm not at Cafe Eclectic on a Saturday night because I want to be. I'm there because I need to get work done and probably won't get it done if I'm at home. After convincing myself to be productive, driving across town, and purchasing a $14 sandwich, I was unable to get any work done because their internet connection apparently hates me. I've had similar reports of internet problems from a few other friends who like to go there to work/study as well.

Not so good.. I wanted to try this place for a while, so today we did. First there's confusion about sitting down to order or standing in line. Then the lunch/dinner menu board is on the side by the bar instead of right in front of you, so you don't want to lose your spot in line to see the menu and we started looking for an employee to ask for a real menu. It took forever in the line; the people in front of us didn't know what they wanted and it was horrible!! Finally we get seated and it took about 30 minutes to get our food. The waitress walked around table to table asking if they ordered this or that, like she was lost or didn't realize we all have numbers at our table telling you who ordered what.. We finally asked a server for our food, and she was really nice and checked on it and got it for is. I had a chicken pot pie and a chicken salad sandwich, which were both mediocre. The chicken salad was just like chicken mixed with mayo and grapes! It had no flavor at all. When I tried the chicken pot pie, I looked at my wife across the table, and with my mouth full I mumbled "seriously?".. Bland bland bland!! It's like they don't believe in seasoning. I was pissed when I actually reached for the salt and pepper shakers. My wife had the Elvis lovers sandwich (peanut butter with bananas and honey) and it was okay, but really small. My wife asked for a side of eggs to replace her chips, and they forgot it- when she reminded them, they brought out a single boiled egg in a small bowl. As we finished our food and prepared to leave, I got more and more excited about completely bashing this place in a review on yelp. There's no reason to ever go back unless you are just in the mood for a good mocha. As we walked back to the car, my wife and I laughed and I said "well so much for lunch.. Shall we gag ourselves and try this again?"

This location is all bright and shiny and new, a little more swanky feeling than the flagship in Midtown. I was kind of confused about whether I was supposed to sit down at one of the massive wooden tables or walk up to the counter to order, but a really friendly guy motioned me to the cash register and handed me a menu. I had a PB&J panini, which is pretty simple but hit the spot. Husband had a bacon/egg quesadilla. We split a french press that was so delicious we were inspired to stop and buy our own french press on the way home. Overall the Midtown location has a wider menu selection for brunch or breakfast (it seemed like all the egg dishes at this location are cooked with hard-boiled eggs - I'm not sure if this location has a full kitchen). But, I loved the atmosphere of this one and I imagine it'll be really popular as a hangout/study/meeting spot for the UofM crowd. Anytime I'm in the area and hungry for a snack or craving a delicious coffee, I'll stop here!

Nice decor, luscious looking bakery items.in their cases. Hubby had a nice bacon n jalepeno grilled cheese toasted Sammy that was tasty -served with a nice side salad with an unusual strawberry vinegarette that was still a nice choice on a hot day. I got a veggie quesadilla...nice fresh veggies and quality cheeses but essentially it was a soggy melted mess. The promised pico de gallo was very very sparingly served with it and it was none too flavorful. All prices were pretty high $$s. Most lunch options $9 and over.

I've have been here several times for lunch on a Sunday and I like the atmosphere and food. Sometime you will have to wait a long time but it is worth it. I recommend the bagel and lox, but the pancakes are delectable as well...

Another awful experience! My wife and I were just served bacon on our vegetarian wrap. 20 years without meat and because some inconsiderate person shows a careless attitude we suffer. This is a blatant disregard for people! What if they serve peanuts to someone who was allergic. We consistently have bad service and no concern for customer experience. We will never return, this was the final straw!
