I really wanted to be happier with this Irish Pub. We love in Knoxville and only have Irish Times which isn't the best example of an irish pub for me. My benchmark is admittedly set pretty high at Nine Fine Irishmen in Vegas. The decor in Flaherty's was spot on the service was above average. Beer selection was good. I was very empty however. Which could be a sign that they aren't doing well. We were there at 7pm on a sat night and I expected more that 4 tables to be occupied. Now my real benchmark: their shepards pie. First off they actually put lamb in it so it is technically shepards pie. Which is hard to find in the US. Typically you get ground need which is actually cottage pie. Either way: theirs wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. It was a very soupy gravy with very little in the way of lamb. Also the potatoes on top needed to cook for about 5 more minutes. My wife had their chicken and bacon boxty which she really liked. My sample of it was also very good. So there is that in there favor. I will give them one more shot and see how their bangers and mash turn out.

Flaherty' Irish Pub was a decent place. I enjoyed the atmosphere and decor. Staff was fast and very attentive. Our group ordered fried pickles app and other entrees. All the food was good. For beer I ordered a Smithwicks and a Guinness. Each was at a good temp and taps seemed to be cleaned. Prices are a bit higher then I would like. $5.50 for a beer when compared to some other places at $3 and $4. I have a few complaints. The high top table stools are uncomfortable. The seats are not large enough and the foot rests are too low. I keep trying to move my foot up to another foot rest but it wasn't there. The other compliant was regarding the music sound level. It was slightly loud to the point of making conversation difficult. Our group loves to talk. Probably only visit again if the band was not playing. This seems very typical of East TN bars.

Heard great things about the pub from a local. Went on a Saturday afternoon and hardly anyone was inside. I had the Guinness cheese burger, which they claim are patties fresh daily. It was a marginal to good burger but I am not sure it was worth $12. Honestly I think the burger at 5 Guys is just as good. Service was good and spot on and the decor and cleanliness were great too. Overall, I would say average.

Been several times now and is always a great experience. This last time was by far the best. The atmosphere is great, while there were few people the place feels alive. We went as part of a local Catholic (of course to a pub) Christian young adults group, FOYA (not the greek yogurt!). The waitress was very friendly and knew her menu well. She made suggestions based on our cravings and we were not disappointed. The Bailey's Cheesecake was amazing as was the Chocolate Whiskey cake which melted in your mouth and was favored by several in our group who order it. We had a great faith discusion over some drinks and good desserts. The waitress even made me a special drink to fit in!(virgin of course :/) Since we were already there we were invited to play in the trivia game hosted there at 7pm on Sundays and not only did we enjoy it and had fun but we won the game! We received a gift card to the place and are thrilled. A truly good establishment is where you can go like we did with the right people and turn an ordinary night into an Instagram-worthy, epic night.

This will be the first review not touting their food. I was very disappointed, as I expected a good fare, having read the previous reviews. Perhaps we visited on an off night, but the food was way over salted. I had the Guiness braised beef and vegetable pie, and my girlfriend had the corned beef and cabbage dish. My pie was edible, but definitely over-salted. My girlfriend's beef and cabbage was crazy oversalted. Maybe the chef had a small seizure while shaking the salt shaker, but they should still taste it before they bring it out. Its really too bad because behind the salt, the dish seemed to actually taste pretty good. Service was sub par. Had she actually checked back on us she might have heard from us that the dish was ridiculously salty and might have turned things around. My girlfriend ate what she could after dousing the dish with a full glass of water, and we left as soon as we could. Might give another try during cheaper lunch hours, but I would suggest other alternatives in Knoxville. I've traveled to Ireland multiple times and have numerous close Irish friends. They do not salt their dishes like mad. Its a cold country!

We just visited Flaherty's Grand Opening on St. Patrick's Day and we were lucky enough to be included during their soft open the day before. My husband is the owner's cousin (full disclosure). Their food is phenomenal. We were a party of eight, so we shared everything we ordered and we ordered a lot. Off their appetizer list, I highly recommend their crab cakes, the Cheddar and Guinness dip and their amazing house-made chips, the Katie's Taters (crazy, deep-fried, cheese-filled potato balls), the similar-in-look, but completely different-in-taste, Corned Beef Bites, and (I can't remember what it was called) a giant bowl of their chips, covered in some sort of amazingly delicious and creamy sauce, green onions, and Benton bacon. If you've never had Benton bacon, it's worth the trip to Flaherty's just to be introduced to it. Off their entree list, their Fish in Chips with their amazing house-made tartar sauce is definitely worth ordering. The fish is Panko crusted and I would almost just eat a plate of the crust - it's that good. I'm pretty sure that their secret ingredient in the tartar sauce is garlic. It's incredibly good. Everyone who tried it swooned with happiness and commented on its unique flavor. Two in our party ordered the Irish Breakfast and were incredibly happy with their choice. Apparently, the black and white pudding is special-ordered and imported from Ireland. I'd never had black pudding before and wasn't sure I wanted to try it, but my husband convinced me that it was worth trying. It was. It was delicately spiced and the texture was unusual, in a good way. I would order it again. Their steaks and hamburgers were very good. We ordered the sirloin steak (with some incredibly good Irish cheese crumbled on top), the filet mignon (which I didn't get a chance to try), cheeseburgers, and we even ordered a custom bacon burger (we couldn't get enough of that Benton bacon!!). We also ordered two different boxties off of their boxty menu. Boxties are sandwich-type items. They're described as having a potato crust but it's more like the filling is folded into a potato pancake. The fillings for the boxties were incredibly good. We ordered the chicken and bacon boxty and the corned beef and cabbage boxty. They're huge! No one person could finish their boxty on their own because the filling is so rich and the serving size is so big - they do reheat well, though. We ate leftovers later that night and again the next morning. The sides are also very, very good...they have several different kinds of mashed potato options, including champ, which is mashed potatoes with green onions in it, and another version (I've forgotten the name of this one, too!) which has cheese, green onions, and bacon in it. Get those. Their seasonal vegetables were a nice surprise: mushrooms, onions, and peppers, really well seasoned and not overcooked. I've already mentioned what a fan I am of their house-made chips, but their sweet potato fries and regular, hand cut french fries are really good, too. I suppose a review of Flaherty's Pub wouldn't be complete without mentioning their bar offerings. My husband, who happens to love Guinness, said that their draft Guinness was the best he'd ever had. I ordered a Smithwick's on the suggestion of our waitress and it was really, really good. They also have a really smooth cider, if that's your thing. They have a full bar and I had the opportunity to sample several of their mixed drinks, too. We had a great time - the pub itself is gorgeous and everything in it was made in Ireland, including the seating (chairs, booths, and stools), the tables, and the bar itself. It's a great place to sit down and drink for a couple of hours. The waitstaff and bartenders are super friendly (and not bad to look at, frankly!) and accommodating. I would drive out of my way for the Guinness and Cheddar dip with those incredible chips. We plan on going back whenever we're traveling in that direction and we already made plans to go back next St. Patrick's Day (we live in Indianapolis, IN).

Tried the new place for lunch today. The interior has been nicely redone. Feels as if there is more room. Tried the corned beef & cabbage boxty. It was very good. My friends had fish & chips. They enjoyed the dish, but would have preferred more fish and less fries. The service was courteous and attentive. They are really cooking the food here. (No back up the Cisco truck and start frying). So, don't be in a rush. I'll go back soon.

Great authentic Irish food. Loved the atmosphere and our bartender was very friendly and knowledgable on the draft beers they served.

The menu has changed and I'm not as big of a fan as I was of the food before... Now onto the real reason to give this place a 1 star... I would give it zero if I could. We went to eat dinner and people that came in after us got their food before us. This was the worst service we have ever had. Our drinks were never filled and it took other waiters to come and ask if we wanted refills... Even the manager asked while our waitress never offered. You could tell that the food had been sitting under the warmers since the plates were super hot. Also asked for an additional plate only to have a pile of dust all over it. Would not recommend this place after this experience and we will not be going back. It was not worth the time and money we spent for the service and food we received.

I had a Groupon for Flaherty's Irish Pub and went here with a friend for lunch. I was very impressed with the service and the quality of the food. I had the cottage pie with a cup of the whiskey chili. They were both outstanding. My buddy had the fish and chips and the white chicken chili. He really likes his also. They have $5 lunch specials that are a great deal. It looks like a fun place to go in the evening with a group of friends (they even have dart boards). I will be back and highly recommend this place.

Awesome! Came upon this place on our way home from a weekend getaway...LOVE Irish food. I could snort corned beef. Knoxville and surrounding areas were seriously lacking in a good Irish pub. All there is is Irish Times in Turkey Creek which is a joke and poor excuse for authentic, traditional GOOD Irish cuisine. Flaherty's lived up to my expectations. The corned beef and cabbage was just fresh and delightful. And they have boxty's!! The service was impeccable. The waitress was more than knowledgable about all the food and drinks. The owner is....IRISH! Yep, imagine that. An Irish Pub owned by an Irish person :) Put your nasty O'Charley's corporate chain frozen food down, go visit Flaherty's, and keep this place in business!

Awesome menu -- this is the kind of Irish restaurant you'd expect to find in a big city, only attractive and spotless, with the menu a cross between "Gastropub" and traditional. Nothing stereotypical or kitschy here! Every item was generously and attractively plated, not to mention so tasty that no one even wanted to share! There was an impressive list of beer and the desserts sounded divine. I had the corn beef and cabbage and won't need to eat again for three days. :-). I must say, I've never had better. I'd love to see this place relocate to a building in downtown Maryville with a bit more character, but this is a very nice place. Suitable for families OR date night. My party of 12 got the large room in the back. It was a great evening.

Well their hours are posted that they are open until 12am. My brother called at 9pm just to make sure and they stated that they would close early if they had no business. We proceed to arrive at 9:30pm and are greeted with no staff and all of the chairs on the tables. Finally someone comes out of the back and lets us know that we can sit at the bar and order from a limited menu. We had 2 children and 4 adults. So sitting at the bar and trying to have children order from a limited menu was not gonna work. I could understand if it was 11 or so, but they should told us on the phone they were closing at 9:30. Will not be trying again.

My friends and I were dining here recently and playing the live trivia game. When one of my friends found out the servers were playing the trivia, which has cash prices involved, while working their tables she complained to the trivia coordinator that she felt it was unfair because they would have an unfair advantage over others by being able to listen in to the conversations at other tables. When one of the waitress, no waiting on us, learned about this, she sat down at our table and proceeded to yell at us. Later I found out my friend was refused service and told the next time she comes in that she would have to get her orders through the bar because the wait staff refused to wait on her. When we attempted to tell the manager on duty our concerns, he simply walked away and did not allow us to finish and muttered something like a curse word under his breath. When I stopped by the next day to complain to a new manager and request an apology from the staff to me and my friends, I heard nothing back. When i wrote a letter to the owner requesting the same, I heard nothing back. I have since filed a complaint with the BBB I hopes of hearing something. But I will never go back and certainly will not encourage anyone to go. I have been I there several times when the chairs are up on tables, the staff is busy cleaning and brisk when asked for service, have been told they are closed when arriving after 10pm even though hours state they are open until 12am, food is not served as it written on menu and is overpriced and limited. Beer and wine selection is overpriced and limited. Don't bother.

The new management and cook got the service and fish & chips absolutely right. Timing was perfect, beer was cold and fresh. Very good portion for the small fish & chips. The batter on the fish was light and crunchy, perfect!

I wanted to like this place more than I did. The decor was awesome there, but the food was average. I ended up getting the shepherd's pie which is one of my favorites, but it had little to no seasoning in it. I'm not one to dump salt on things, but the pie desperately needed SOMETHING to make it less bland. In addition to the shepherd's pie, I had the Irish Whiskey chili, which was unique and decent. All in all, it was a good place to try but I wasn't in love. I'd probably try it again just to see if maybe the cooks were off their game that day.

The decor is spot on but still feels like a Maryville bar with splashes of Celtic heritage. They are seriously lacking in the whisky selection for a "pub". I will say they do have a great staff! Super friendly and attentive. The food is heavy and doesn't scream homemade. I have to preface that statement by stating I've only had a couple of menu items. All in all it's not a bad place but I wouldn't put it into regular rotation.

After being VERY disappointed in the previous business that was at this location, I really had no desire to go back until I heard that the owners of Hot Rod's 50's Diner were now part owners of Flaherty's. The menu is "new" although I see the same names of dishes mentioned in previous reviews so I think they just remade some items? We were impressed. We had the chicken, bacon and cheddar boxties appetizer and completely LOVED the cheese dip that accompany those. For entrees, I ordered Shepherd's Pie and hubby had Bangers and Mash. Both items arrived PIPING HOT and very tasty. Service was good and the owner kept coming by to check on us and make sure everything was satisfactory. The prices didn't seem expensive at all for the quality and quantity of food we received. Will definitely return and have recommended to others who have also enjoyed it.

Every meal I've had has been wonderful and the drink prices are a nice surpise. Be sure to try their homemade Irish Cream. Yum@ Last week, we had dinner and then played darts in the back. Place was packed.

I really wanted to like this place because "A" I love a good Irish Pub and "B" my uncle knows the owner. My wife and I got there on a Saturday around 1:30 and there wasn't a soul in sight (patron or staff). After 5 minutes waiting I finally stuck my head in the kitchen and ask for some service. I got the fish and chips and the fries were way under cooked. The fish was rubbery and didn't flake at all. Not that it matters if the food isn't good, but the decor is on point.

Flaherty's is under new management, the same folks who own Hot Rod's are running Flaherty's. It shows in the food and attention to detail. The Guinness keg is new weekly, and the pour was perfect according to my nephew. Vodka Roma pasta was excellent, Shephard pie was outstanding. This is going to be one of our favorite restaurants. Server was knowledge, not intrusive, and diligent. Love the padded pew benches. If you haven't been to eat, get up and go today.

Did not like this place at all! Horrible beer selection,,, the Guinness beer cheese everyone seems to like tasted like cheese whiz with a little beer mixed in.. Highly 'processed' tasting. If you have taste buds might want to skip this place.
